If I could give this place zero stars, I would. If you’re reading reviews looking for somewhere good to go, this is not it. Go across the street to Timeout, the management there will actually happily serve you good food. Doherty’s beer and drinks are flat/watered down & the food is awful. When brought to managements attention, he cowered & refused to apologize for the poor experience. He is an absolute joke. This place stays open solely thanks to st Patrick’s day & local regulars. Run down, gross, & terrible management.
Went to bed after a long day spent at a wedding. Turned down the bedspread and a large daddy long legs crawled out! We looked up and there were at least 50 more baby spiders along the crack of the ceiling and cobwebs all throughout. We spent less than 30 minutes in the room and drove an hour and a half home at 3 a.m. I could not recommend this place less.
Staff are all treated like dogs and slaves. Don’t recommend working for them. Food is bland so don’t recommend eating here and the old man running the night shift is ungodly rude when he’s asked to do anything for the customer so I don’t recommend getting any type of service here.
Overall the hotel was nice and clean, though maybe a bit dated. The staff was amazing and very friendly. We had a few minor issues and they were able to help out in a timely manner. I did have to knock one star for not having a microwave in the room. My wife and I will definitely be back when the weather warms up so we can walk around the area, which looks like there are many sites to see and places to eat.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND STAYING HERE. It is a older hotel but that is a part of the history of the area and charm of the hotel. We stay here alot when in town. We stayed here for the first time and used the Romantic package that they have. Great value and got some awesome coupons for dinner, drinks and breakfast. Then had a bottle of champagne, glasses and chocolate ready for us. Made for a great anniversary celebration romantic getaway for the night.
This review is for the restaurant. My family is from out of town and we just wanted a nice dinner on New Years Eve. We were seated with a smile, the hotel front desk receptionist was also friendly. Unfortunately, a rotten apple ruined it all for us. I asked a waitress for a kids menu, and she told me if I ordered off of it that I would make the kitchen scream. Im not going to walk on eggshells for your kitchen staff to put some chicken nuggets in the microwave. Super disrespectful comment and ridiculously unprofessional. Time Out Tavern across the street had AMAZING food and service. We are so glad we left the Doherty restaurant.
Cool old hotel, excellent location. Beware of the third floor, no hot water up there. Was moved to the first floor no problem, other than having to dry off and dress, go to the front desk, get a new room and move all my stuff.Place was not at all crowded so I dont know why I was not given a first floor room to begin with. No complimentary coffee set up in the room. The hotel was clean though needs updating.
Visited the Doherty hotel for a wedding. There was a very rude older gentleman that was checking our party in. He pretended not to see us while he was clearly at the end of his shift. Made it a point to have his back towards us while counting the drawer before finally acknowledging us after about 5 minutes. You could tell he was annoyed that we were checking in around 9pm (after a long drive)There was a misunderstanding and my room was not on the reservation. I asked him if there were any rooms available since my room was not on the books. NOPE. I said well sir your sign says vacancy, there’s about 3 cars in the parking lot, and this is a big hotel for a pretty small town. I started looking for other places to stay and our party reconvened outside. After a half hour, we walked back inside. A nice lady then approached us and asked if she could help. I told her my situation and MAGICALLY a room became available. The whole weekend it was only our wedding party and no other guests. It was disappointing that the one guy with an attitude ruined the stay. Props to the other people that work there but thumbs down to people in hospitality that are rude and unhelpful.
Went for our Anniversary, Food Was terrible.I ordered chicken enchiladas. There was absolutely no taste. Would have been better if I got a frozen dinner from the grocery store. Came with spicy beans, nothing more than canned black beans heated up. Not even the salsa was good. Tasted like a dollar general brand. Will not go back!
Food and service was excellent! Prime rib the first night and strip the second. The sides were perfect too! Great wait staff. Breakfast was just ok. Hotel was clean . Had suite with fireplace. Huge! Overall a little dated but beds are comfy and had a great experience.
Stopped in for lunch @1:00 and were seated right away. Staff was very pleasant and menu choices were abundant. GF had the Monterey Turkey and loved it. I had the double Reuben and loved it. GFs mother had the Spinach Quesadilla and loved it. Overall a very good dining experience and we will definitely be going back for dinner next time.
We did not stay the night but we did have dinner there. The food was amazing, but the waiter Walter was a terrible mess. He acted, looked and talked like he was high or drunk. Slurring his words, had our order wrong numerous times, kept coming back asking the same question over and over and over again. He honestly should have been sent home for the night. He was in no shape to deal with the public. It’s a shame the experience was so terrible when the food was so good. I don’t want to see him fired over this, I just think he needs to be sat down and talked to so it doesn’t happen again. I hope he can get things figured out so that he can do a much better job next time.
We had dinner in honor of my Father who loved to dine here, especially after church on Sundays when I was growing up. Everyone that dubbed here except my daughters and their husbands and son grew up in Clare and all grew up eating here.Well, there was no Space Invaders in the lobby this day, but dinner was fantastic as usual. Dean and Lisa made our meal memorable. I know Dad would have loved eating there with us all just one more time.Thank you to the Doherty family and their staff for serving us one last time. The Schulz and Stuckert Family
Nice place for a birthday dinner. Food prices a bit high for quality and presentation. I had a 10 oz prime rib (med) which I had asked for blackened, unfortunately it arrived plain. A chef would recut a rare slice, blacken and hit medium which was not the case. The scallops were great as was the presentation. Good safe dinner in this COVID environment. Will be back!
Went here for dinner tonight. Everything was so fresh and so clean. All table linens are replaced after the guest leaves. Table and all chairs are wiped down. Our waiter, Troy, was super fast, attentive, and friendly. Was hesitant to go out to eat but they were amazing and on top of their game! Please consider stopping in for your next meal out.
I stayed at the Doherty hotel several years back I had a great time... I sat and had a glass of wine with Dean Doherty he us and extremely nice man he introduced to a lady was a regional manager for Meijer stores.. Owned a salsa company at the time she was going to put us In Several stores.. Anyway stayed again still a great place its nice to have a room that opens to the pool... Trust go stay there the food in the restaurant is great... GOOD TIMES
Tom at the front desk is amazing, he went above and beyond to make sure my group of friends and I were happy and comfortable and moved us right away when the tv mysteriously stopped working. Certainly wonderful I enjoyed the historical hotel possibly had a couple ghostly encouters or at least some unexplainable things happened! We will definitely come back again!
Very accommodating. Needed a room on ground level and was able to get one without a problem. Got to our room and needed a refrigerator and within minutes they had one brought to us. The staff was very friendly. Im a little disappointed that we cant use the pool but thats because of the coronavirus and not because of the staff. Would recommend staying there to anyone.
Never got to stay I booked a room asked for air to be out on ahead they did when I got there Tom at front desk explains he had to move me to a different room air was on but wasn’t cool it was running on high it was wet room was stuffy u could see air wasn’t working proper I asked for other room there wasn’t another room he said in the whole hotel Even thou it was Sunday night no guest but one in pool all lights were off in rooms with drapes open he said all rooms were not cleaned from morning if I had 3 kids with me tired warm overwhelmed ages 17& 18 Tom lied to us about no rooms because my aunt called that night was told there was a king& queen room ready that night Tom said take the warm room at full price air not working or get out after pleading I calmly asked questions how he could help checking more to see if they had a room I didn’t care what the price for us he said no I’ll check u out he turned around abruptly rude left us standing in hall with me having the keys to the room and checked us out before we could talk among ourselves to decide what to do ! The next dar he lied told the owner we didn’t want a different room there were rooms available shee Ed said the next day I talked to the owner my daughter said she called the front desk to see if she could help get us a room that night she was rudely hung up on they have caller I D they would not answer when she tried to call back they were laughing at the desk as she was calling no type of professionalism from Tom he was rude we were afraid of him would not want ever to deal with him again
I had the Ruben which was excellent. The cornbeef was nice and lean and very flavorful. We ate in the bar side that had a fun atmosphere and a good number of people for a Monday night. My only complaint was our service was slow after we were initially seated and especially when trying to pay the bill.
Loved our stay at this hotel. The staff was friendly and informative. We had dinner and drinks in the leprechaun lounge, the food and atmosphere were great! Our room was nicely furnished and everything seemed new. We greatly enjoyed the Doherty hotel and plan to go back again.
I’ve had better hospital food. I would give it zero stars if I could. Literally not edible. Left hungry $30 later. French dip had hard stale bread (they didn’t even attempt to hide it by grilling or toasting it) with cold fatty meat. The potatoes and gravy were tasteless and cold. Very disappointed. Service was ok. Don’t waste your time. So many other great eats around the area.
I don’t know about the hotel or the restaurant but the bar was pretty cool. It wasn’t crowded. The food and the drinks were really good. Eh, pretty expensive I could say. Anyways, the best part was the service, the staff, the waitresses specially. They are so friendly and really nice to you and always smiling. And they’re always checking on you. You can tell they really want you to enjoy your night out. They’re doing a great job. I’m so satisfied with my care.
My wife and I have ate here maybe four times over the past 8 years and we always come away a little disappointed. All of the trimmings are good but the main dish is usually a little under whelming. This is supposed to be an upscale place and the main course (one time it was the prime rib another it was the New York strip) should be of a little better quality.Everything else is good, from all of the sides, desserts, and the staff makes us feel at home.
Got the JFK Suite, stayed 3 days, enjoyed it alot! The idea that its an old motel that they really havent changed much to and the so called rumors of hauntings is the main attraction. The suite came with a fireplace, king size bed, and jacuzzi. Jacuzzi was a little on the smaller side, definitely only suitable for one person to be comfortable. The king bed was absolutely amazing! We didnt really use the fireplace due to it being warm anyways but it was nice when turned on.Best water pressure ever in a shower! The price was a little on the higher end, and I probably wouldnt necessarily pay that much again but I would definitely stay in a regular room any time. There had been couple staff members that seemed put out by us - the waitress for instance the first morning we were there, seemed bothered we werent staying to eat and wanted our food to go, even tho she was recieving a $9 tip for bringing us water. Or one of the women at the front desk when we went to book the room for another night but pay cash and ask why my card was charged 3 times instead of just twice. Other than that the staff was great! Foods awesome, real clean (recommend only filling jacuzzi to cover jets and turn on, then drain and rinse out before use tho)
Never have I ever walked into a hotel and felt like family .This hotel is 5 star all the way staff is just amazing, we were there for a paranormal investigation around town and we got to investigate the hotel . Major bonus love this place, well worth the room charge .They are the ones who sets the standards for a 5 star hotel .Mr doughty and his staff are truly a unique group of people the welcome you with open arms and you feel like family .Rooms are very clean and comfy .
As a landmark, this hotel is beautiful and whimsical. A stay here feels like youre in the movie the Shining, in a fun way. Its probably the most unique place to sleep in Clare. The woman who took my reservation was extremely nice and accommodating, however every experience with staff after that felt incompetent. There was no good system for inquiring about an early check-in. It required multiple calls and them telling me to just keep calling to see about the status of my room. This was inconvenient and not conducive to making travel plans. Then when I had someone else check into the room for me, they made him put his card on file and charged his account for the room even though I had already given them my payment information. As for the room, the bed was stiff/uncomfortable and the thin comforter was not sufficient for my preferences.
I havent ever stayed at the hotel, but have eaten at the restaurant and bar numerous times. Friendly atmosphere in a historic location. Good food, and a wonderful salad/soup bar. Make sure to order the French onion soup if you get the salad/soup bar. Its an small extra charge, but its worth it.
I highly recommend the Doherty Hotel when staying in Clare. While the older rooms are a bit dated (hence the 4 stars) the new rooms are beautiful. I very much enjoyed my stay in the room with the Jacuzzi tub and fireplace. My husband and I treated ourselves with room service through the hotel restaurant and were not disappointed. It was delicious. The Doherty is the best place in Clare to stay.
We had heard the food was really good so we thought would give it a try. Was very disappointed in the food, the pasta was quite dry. another person ordered a Ribeye steak and got a New York strip instead and he could hardly chew it was tuff. Who knows maybe the chef had it off today.
While staying here as a young man, I had dinner with Mrs. Doherty in 1987 at her behest. Her son AJ, now retired in Hawaii, continued the excellence along with another bro. Now Im in my 60s. I know and trust this place with my soul.Fantastic in every wayA gem that we all wish would stay the same...alas. everything is always a-changing...
The hotel lobby and hotel is great nice place to stay good food and atmosphere most of the people there are fantastic people and friendly except for the exception of one front desk lady she is kinda bigger with glasses maybe around 60 To 75ish and she is a absolute Grinch she is on of the most rudest people you will ever meet and her attitude is terrible please if you stay at this hotel do not judge everyone there by this lady’s actions and attitude I’m pretty sure she is one of the owners relations so she feels privileged like she can be rude to others for that reason I don’t agree with that call it what you will I give this hotel 2 stars unfortunately because it is a nice place to stay and eat but some people can’t be helped when she changes her attitude I’ll change my review till then god bless you cranky old woman
Step back in time to win customer service was assumed. The rooms are clean and neat. Front desk service is exemplary. The only thing 21st century is the internet connection. On the days when breakfast is provided it is absolutely amazing! The days when it is not part of the package, the White House restaurant across the street or cops and donuts are great. There are bus trips arranged to go to Cops and donuts.
The service and atmosphere were very good. The soup and salad bar was sparse at best, in fact there werent any soups available - the chaffing dishes were lit and ready, but completely empty. The salad side appeared fully stocked given the space available, but wasnt anything special. Needless to say, I wouldnt order or pay the extra $3.95 for the product provided. I ordered the Thursday night special - smoked brisket. It was very tender pleasantly presented but a little on the bland side. With it I ordered the brown rice. It looked like white rice that mightve been soaked in tea to give it a slight color and had about that much flavor - again, I wouldnt recommend it. The others in my party were mostly happy with their selections - the Ruben roll up received good reviews. Oh - if you are a white wine lover, they have a very limited selection. Beers, mixers and red wines youll be all set.
Very Historic, located in downtown Clare with restaurant & bar. Staff super nice and recommend the JFK suite. I just love this place!Has the famous Cops and Doughnut shop across the street which is open 24-7 during the summer months. Other quaint shops up and down the street. Overall, we always have a great time in Clare MI.
Excellent stay. Great food. Great prices. Gas fireplace in room and in dining room next to our table, nice and warm for raging ice storm outside. Staff are very friendly and obviously liked working here. Owner made killer omelets. Irish coffee...the best! Awesome breakfast buffet and wonderful salad bar. Nice hot tub in room and pool/hot tub area near our room Fun bar/restaurant accross the lobby from main restaurant. Many local business and other eating/bar establishments with great food and live music within several blocks of this hotel, which was built in 1924 and owned solely by the Doherty family, manifesting cleanliness and genuineness. A great weekend get away. Beautiful rail to trail nearby for biking, walking/running. Numerous golf opportunities and hotel stay packages addressing local attractions. A true gem to experience in Clare, a community of great pride.
Wouldnt waste my money or time coming back here. Room smelled moldy, hair and condom was in my hot tub, and floor was flithy. Went to desk to ask for a clean room and I was informed that the other rooms were being held for a convention group. I asked for a refund and was informed that a fee for cancellation would be withheld. I went back to room to get my stuff and clerk had deactivated my key. It truly was a mess and headache!
Overall my experience wasn’t horrible, but my room (240) and the surrounding hallways and the same area on the first floor REEKED of chlorine from the pool. I’m talking chemical-spill strong smell. I woke up with my throat burning. My room did have this weird window that looked into the pool area (see pic) but I never opened it and besides, that doesn’t explain the hallway. The decor is from the 80s (time for an update guys) and the layout is weird, but it seemed fairly clean and quiet. I thought it would be charming because it’s old, but it’s just old. I think I’d spend the extra $30 and stay at one of the nearby chain hotels next time.
We had a very nice stay but in the past they issued breakfast coupons. This time there were no free breakfast coupons. We were told that they dont issue breakfast coupons on the weekends. (They have in the past) The room was pricey, not cheaper then when it included free breakfast. (Around a hundred dollars a night).
I had a lovely dinner at the Doherty Hotel. The appetizers were wonderful, especially the blackened tuna. The staff was professional and attentive. My filet of salmon was preared exceptionally well, and the hotel offered an excellent bar menu. It has a great atmosphere for dining, and I would recommend it to any friends or family members.
We stayed Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The breakfast this morning was delicious. Wait staff awesome. The room was satisfactory, but far from cleaned properly. There is a used plastic cup next to the bed that was there for all three days. Makes us wonder what else wasnt cleaned. It was not our cup, we never used any. We had to go to the register desk at least four times when the key cards would not open the outside door or if we made through, then it wouldnt open our room door. We were able to park fairly close to our room, but by the time we had to walk around the building to the front or to another door that worked it wasnt pleasant, even one day in the rain. It wasnt a pleasant stay. They were very apologetic and helpful, but the situation was ridiculous and I wouldnt want to encounter another stay like that.
Dinner and breakfast were very good. Room was comfortable but getting outdated. Facility could use a facelift as it is showing its age in not so great ways. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Hit tub not so hot, only better than lukewarm, but it was clean.
Ive stayed here a handful of times and always enjoy it. We like to eat dinner and have drinks in the restaurant before walking to the other bars. In the morning we eat breakfast across the street at the White House. Theres a lot of history surrounding the hotel making it unique compared to all the chain hotels in the area.
The area around the hotel is lovely. The hotel itself was kinda confusing at first. My family and I came in the back side of the hotel(which looks like it should have been front of the hotel, though) and didnt know where the lobby was due to no signs in that area. The rooms were nice with an iron and blow dryer, tv, two queens. The beds were not that nice to sleep on, tho. Brother agrees with me. Hallways on the second reeked of chlorine, but not in the rooms. Service was great. They had free breakfast too, was good.
Nothing short of rude, the self proclaimed luxury hotel is nothing better than a dumpy $50 a night hotel. At least those arent dated with rust on towel racks, 80s styling and are a lot cleaner with furniture you can actually sit on. Trust me when I say a rock is more comfortable than the stay there.Lets not forget the cameras theyll use to try and tack on more to your bill too. At $150 a night, I expected a microwave at least. NOPE, we asked for one and got this dented up 90s clunky thing that they charged $15 a night for! Which all of this you wont find out until after your checking out and getting your bill. Apparently their failing business model needs these extra charges. Cant hide behind the prestige of the purple gang for to long. Think thats lost its glamour years ago.
This place doesnt even deserve one star. The waitress never asked us what we wanted to drink. My friend had to ask several times for the toast he ordered and then when she did finally remember to bring it she only brought one small piece. The hash browns were terrible and tasted as if they had sat in spoiled oil. We also ordered guacamole for the potato skins and couldnt eat it because it was spoiled tasting. None of the food was hot when it arrived and my mothers omelette had sat long enough for the cheese to be rubbery. The napkins were damp and dirty. When we were entering the building we had to cover our noses because the trash cans smelled like vomit. I was giving it one more try before writing this review because the Doherty used to be a classy place with great food and service but as of now I will never return. Terrible food terrible service and the owners are completely unprofessional and verging on incompetent.
My husband and I stayed at the Doherty Hotel from July 24 to July 27, 2015. We had been traveling for two weeks before our stay in Clare. The Doherty Hotel was the best place we had stayed during our entire vacation. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Our room was large, comfortable, and clean. The restaurant staff was wonderful and the food was delicious. We want to thank the staff at the Doherty Hotel for their outstanding service.
Great hotel, location perfect right in center of Clare... right off the rail trail,Only negative was the Irish Pub needed more Irish beers, but its a small town, get it.Water pressure in the shower was weak, normally hotel showers are super strong pressure, not very strong but it worked.
Friendly staff and comfortable rooms but it seems long overdue for renovations. There were exposed wires on the ceiling in the hallway and spots that were in obvious need of repair. Aside from that it was a comfortable place to spend the night and its in a great location.
Lovely hotel unless you get put in a room toward the back. Those rooms are basic highway hotel rooms but they are cheaper. The front of the hotel is more nostalgic and they serve a very good breakfast. The bar is popular with guests and locals. Plenty of parking on the property, as well.
Wow... someday would love spending the night here..on my dream list. Really exciting Hotel..in Clare my favorite town... would be a nice place to live... walkable..the most friendly small City in Mid Michigan. Just need learning County Connection to get there... no car☹️ from Washington Woods in Midland. Moved from Oakland County. Clare reminds me of Rochester 1977. Then population explosion...Avon Township was tiny now massive!!!
We were out for a nice evening, but did not get that experience at the restaurant at Doherty! It started when I ordered the oysters as an appetizer and the waitress looked lost and confused. She then tells us its her second day and she doesnt really know what shes doing. That was not an exaggeration! Brought us coffee without creamer - asked for creamer - brought the creamer but no spoon to stir the coffee with. Brought us an appetizer, but no plates to eat it on. Brought us our dinner (BBQ ribs and prime rib, which was cold) but no steak knife to cut the meat with. And despite the manager clarifying that we were sharing the main dish (because the waitree came back to our table twice after taking our order, once because she didnt ask how the prime rib should have been cooked and the second time with the manager because she thought she forgot to get both of our dinner orders) and the manager offering us two plates to eat off of - she didnt bring the second plate.Oh. And the end of the meal? After a dessert discussion, which we decided against getting dessert there, she immediately removed our water glasses. What?? Dropped of the bill and then came back to take it, and look at the tip!!!!, before we left.Awful service that should have been FIXED when the manager stopped by to check in and the food wasnt anything to write home about either. In fact, the oysters were down right smothered in cheese and gross. We will never ever go here again. And I only suggest you visit if you want a large quantity of terrible food with subpar service.
Use to work here and by far the BEST PLACE to not only work at in Clare County but to eat as well! My favorite dish is the French dip or the Calamari salad! They have great specials Monday through Thursdays and on the weekends the chef specials are to die for! Ask for Denise or Kapri for your waitress :)
I was so excited to spend New Years Eve here. The website AND the brochure advertised a live band, dinner, party favors, and breakfast for those who choose to buy it. Imagine my surprise when we arrived at the fancy Doherty, checked in, changed, and headed downstairs. NOTHING. Are you kidding me? You have a bar with a TV, but I can sit at home and watch my own TV. We paid $130 lodging thinking we were getting a New Years Eve experience. You guys Seriously suck right now.
Our organization meets here every two months and it is always good. Large menus and the food is priced right. Try the bloody mary.If you stay overnight go across the street to see a first run movie for $5.00 Then go down the street to Cops and Donuts and take some goodies home to the family.
So first off way to expensive for what we got we got a jacuzzi room and there was dirt and hair in the tub and it was clearly damaged they moved us one room down right away but of course it wouldve been cleaned by the same person so dirt and hair in the tub and it was clearly poorly fixed plus lots of other issues and all they had to say for it was ok I made a note of that nothing at all more almost 200 dollars for a single night
Have been staying here every year for the last 15 years....always up-grade to a suite. We come to golf and shop. After 4 days one late evening we entered the hotel and my husband grabbed a newspaper from the front desk... out of the corner came this gentleman telling us we needed to pay $2.00 for that days paper...at 8:00 at night. I know it sounds petty but we just spent over $600.00 for our room and spend much more at the bar and restaurant over the last few days. He really just couldnt give us a newspaper that was going to the trash anyways. No big deal....we will be back BUT wont forget and will tell people.
The worst 2nd shift manager ever !!!Mariah Schafer, no people skills what so ever, We spent $1000 for a room for 6 nights, and she insisted I was to be charged for a drink that was not what I ordered, and my first drink at that... Will never spend any more money at this place, I didnt drive 1200 miles for this sort of treatment

2022-05-22Although I didn’t have the pleasure of actually staying at the Doherty Hotel, I went and visited the rooms and other parts of the hotel. The ambience was amazing! Seeing the rooms that were from the 20s, you felt like you had stepped back in time. I loved the feeling I had while I was in that hotel! That in itself is priceless! Hopefully, I will get to stay there next year when we make the trip! I would love to stay in the old part.I’m from Indiana, and to me it’s very reminiscent of our historic hotels, French Lick and West Baden. The staff was so accommodating and friendly! I immediately felt like a welcomed old friend!Thank you so much for the tour! It made my weekend! I will definitely be returning to stay!

2022-03-13The wait staff at the restaurant was great, everyone was friendly. The bar seems like a local spot where the bartenders know who you are. The food has room for improvement, the salad bar has no meat included and is not fresh. There is one soup sitting out on the soup and salad bar, but two other soups were available upon request. The atmosphere was laid back with many open tables on a Saturday night, probably attracts an older crowd. The decor needs to be updated, it probably was never updated since it was opened.

2022-05-09EVERY employee we talked to was so friendly and personable. The rooms really need updating but the bed was so comfy. The food was excellent!!!!! Salad bar was clean and fresh. I will definitely be back for dinner again as well as renting a room for the night.

2022-07-05Although I did not stay overnight at the Dougherty hotel, my daughter treated me to dinner on July 3rd in the evening. We had an excellent server! I ordered a full slab of spare rib dinner and was very disappointed and should have sent it back, but I ended up having them boxed up and I brought home (3 hours away) for my husband to eat. The ribs were not baby back ribs like I had presumed they would be; they were tough and they were stringy, so I ate the French fries and the side salad and that was my meal along with an appetizer. I was very disappointed and the price of the rib dinner was $30. I hope they get some better ribs on stock .

2022-04-18This was for the Easter Dinner. Horrible. Our server was hardly ever seen. When we did catch her. It took 5 minutes or more for her to return. She was never really seen in the dining hall. So unless she’s taking tables at the bar or other side, she couldn’t be accounted for. Heck she couldn’t even ask how our Easter was going. Me being a server myself, I wasn’t pleased at all.

2022-04-29I am just reviewing the bar and restaurant part, We did not have a good experience especially on st. Patricks day, some workers were rude, you can clearly see that they were underpaid and overworked, when we got our wrist band at the gate after showing ID, the bartender was very rude to my wife asking if she was old enough to drink, when she showed her wrist band, she didnt give her the drink until she showed her the ID, then what was the point of wrist bands? She was very rude, not coordinated enough with workers? we were like we are not coming back here, then we went right across the street to the timeout tavern and the workers were so friendly and respectful, and we were like yes thats the service we were looking for.

2022-06-20I am leaving a 5* Review based on the food which was Excellent!!!!! The hotel is outdated however, it was clean and the staff are friendly. almost didnt come here based on the low reviews and also the 3.5 stars. However, upon further inspection of the online Menu it was worth a visit because I was staying overnight through Fathers Day and my husband wanted a brunch Buffett. I must admit I was very disappointed that they do not do a Fathers Day Prime Rib Buffett as they go for Mothers Day. Oddly Nobody does within a 50 mile radius so I will not fault them for that. My husband and I travel quite frequently and search for Restaurants with either scratch kitchen items or unique items that we would normally not find at our local places. We chose the Lamb Stew because the Lamb is locally sourced and its not something weve seen on a menu previously. The bread bowl was an in house made Irish soda bread and was fabulous. Also. We chose the Greek salad and added on the homemade Gyro meat with homemade Greek dressing. I have to say we were pleasantly surprised by both meals. Furthermore, if youre ever in the area I highly recommend stopping in and give them a try. For the unique items on the menu. I will be back to try the Rueben next:)

2022-04-03Review is for the restaurant. Save yourself some time & pain & go across the street to Timeout Tavern. The beer & soda is all flat (the bartenders say it’s fine tho!) & the food is subpar, fried chicken came out wet & falling apart. Menu does not match what is online, just honestly avoid this place.

2022-03-05Wait staff was good. They made their rounds and took care of needs as they arose. Food though has no flavor at all. I had the 10 Oz sirloin with steam vegetables. Steak was unevenly cooked. And dry. I had to ask for buffalo sauce to choke it down. My girlfriend had the salmon and could not eat it. Absolutely terrible. No flavor and a very fishy taste. You could make this same food better at home. Cocktails are watered down.
