Three nights ago, my friends and I were thrown out and escorted out by the police. Never once did anyone apart of the hotel ask us to leave, but instead called the cops to ask us to leave. If anyone would have, we gladly would have. After being escorted out by the police and being harassed by the security officer, there would be two phone calls and voice mails left for the general manager and have still not received calls back about the matter. At one point, we had called the hotel to be transferred to a manager and the front desk attempted to fake the voicemail of the general manager. It was clearly fake and it was an attempt to not allow us to speak to management. No refund was given, even after multiple attempts to speak to management about being harassed.
Checked in a room that had a buzzy air con unit, called the front desk and a technician came within 10 mins to verify and diagnose that a new unit was needed.We left the room to allow him to do the replacement and headed downstairs to the lounge which was closed until 5pm...I think this should have been handled better by the technician calling the front desk to ask for an alternate room so we could relax after out long day on the road.Instead here we are sitting in the lobby having a drink bough from the sundries store.
View was awesome! I am a navy vet. So the view of the waterway and the boats was a comforting feeling. However there seemed to be not so welcoming vibes coming from certain staff members. I do understand u booked on 3rd party for only one night so when i went to extend they told me no. They had a conference coming in and are all booked up for riverside rooms. But the lady told me absolutely no rooms were available at all. I told her thats hard to believe and told her i was a navy vet dhe literallt looked at me and then answered a phone call and disregarded me compmetely. Ft completely shamed. I called their care line and the woman did what she could i suppose to get me into a VERY MUCH available room (city view) im stilk wondering why i did not get accomadated more though...what happened to the hospitality in this country?! 😔
I’ve stayed at multiple hotels in my time being this was probably the worst for the price… I spent $250 for a one night stay check in at 4 and they managed to get me on the 6th floor luckily… my friend said it was the best hotel in bay city… yes probably in bay city! But I’ve had way nicer for the price and breakfast wasn’t included either… fldeffinitpy think they could work on redoing their benefits for their guests
The Doubletree is located in Downtown Bay City over looking the river. While in its own day Im sure it was to the nines, but unfortunately updates are needed. While there was the usually poor housekeeping, my issue was breakfast. I was told at checkin that there would be a buffet breakfast in the morning for $12. Well, unfortunately breakfast never happened. I went to work hangry instead. I was super cool about finding someone elses belongings in my room, but not having a breakfast too sucked.
Stayed for two nights. My first night I ate in the restaurant and the food was good. I had the Lake Erie walleye. The restaurant is a bit pricey. Both mornings I had breakfast from a buffet and the food was fresh. Staff was friendly and efficient. The hotel was clean. I did have a problem with my television which I was able to fix myself. The hand sanitizer in the elevator was a nice touch but one of them was empty or not working. I mentioned it to one of the staff members and the next day it was still not working. I know those things are minor but following up on guest requests are important. This is the best place to stay in Bay City.
We were in Bay City for a hockey tournament. Our team made championship game which was at 2PM. I asked for 12PM check-out and was told ABSOLUTELY NOT an option even though some of my persistent families were allowed late check-out. It appears that management is all about policy, not logistics. There were so many teams checking out on Sunday at the same time, it took about to 20 minutes for us to get down from the second floor because elevators are slow and were coming down packed with hockey families checking out. The hotel has no stairs to get to the lobby. When we left second floor there was a line of people trapped on that floor waiting for elevators. Every policy should have an exception. We were kicked out of our rooms so my hockey team could crowed the lobby for 2 hours. Not very COVID safe approach in my opinion. Overall, I found front desk staff very polite but not accommodating.
My husband and I were in town for Room Redux Northern Michigans first Room Transformations. After a LONG day of transforming the rooms of children who have faced abuse it was absolutely heart warming to walk into the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Bay City - Riverfront and be welcomed so warmly by Jessica. Thank you! We checked in and made our way to the beautiful bar where Gaby was our bartender. She was friendly and accommodating, ordering us our food and drinks very close to last call. Our room was clean and beautiful and we both slept like a ROCK! Thank you, all. We are in Texas but will definitely stay at this wonderful hotel when we come back to Michigan!
Room was spacious, room heated or cooled appropriately. Bed was cozy, bathroom was clean, toilet flushes like a champ. Outlets available everywhere if needed. If breakfast was included with your stay and they have a good buffet. Their indoor pool looked pretty decent. They also had a workout area.
Had a nice relaxing time. The room was very nice and spacious the beds were amazing so comfortable I didnt want to get up. So we ordered room service they were prompt and the food was fantastic, I cant say enough good things I will definitely revisit when Im in the area again. Thank you for a comfortable enjoyable stay. The room was clean and spacious. One of the bedside lights didnt work but it didnt bother us, there was plenty of light. Had dinner in the restaurant and it was lovely, our service was great and the food was very good. I was able to get a late check out and had no issues with that either. Overall a nice stay.
Very nice hotel. We chose a room with a river view. It was a gorgeous view. There was a wedding that took place just outside. The room was very clean. The refrigerator in our room seemed smaller than Ive found in most hotels. The staff was all very friendly. The hotel is right next to the Planetarium and within walking distance to some nice restaurants and shops.
Not your typical Doubletree. A little older and tired rooms. Beds uncomfortable unlike any other Doubletree I have stayed at. Staff ignored me after check in. I stayed four nights and had a room looking the beautiful roof and HVAC units. A giant spotlight illuminating the Doubletree logo on side of building was also beaming into my room. I asked daily to move rooms. They never even tried. Other than that, staff were very polite & free coffee appreciated.
The so called manager, Jim S, at this location is very rude and disrespectful. We have had our block of rooms booked for months and they couldn’t even keep us together in the same floor. He called us bad parents for trying to stay by our rooms to stay with our kids and then called us incompetent. There is so much more that I could complain about, but I would hope they take they money we paid to stay here to pay for classes for Jim to learn hospitality and guest service skills because lord knows he needs it!
We stayed here for a friends wedding and it was wonderful. We were greeted with a warm cookie upon arrival, we went to our room and relaxed in a very modern and very clean room. The banquet facilities were amazing and the food was mouth watering. The salmon that was served at the wedding was 5 star restaurant quality for sure! Excellent stay!
The staff went above and beyond the entire time. They did everything they could to make my stay more enjoyable. Very kind and personable. The front desk people were so knowledgeable and helpful. The bartender was so sweet and helpful and kind, she was like a ray of sunshine. All around amazing. The hotel its self is really wonderful as well. Perfect location for the concert.
Great property, this is Hilton standard. Room was clean, well appointed. Staff was friendly and accommodating to our convention size group. Dinner banquet was of better quality then you might expect in a hotel for a convention.In multiple day stays, rooms are cleaned on request; which the front desk tells you on check in, information also found in room.
Nice hotel if you like spiders. I am not a fan! We stayed in a suite with a balcony, and yes I expected some spiders, it is outside. But there were soooo many. And their webs were everywhere! Half of our balcony wasnt usable because of the thick spider webs. And not just out on the balcony there were thick cobwebs in the room also. For the price we paid I would expect the room to be cleaned including the the corners of the ceiling. Other than that and some really dusty vents; the bed, bathroom and furniture were all clean. They really should have a pest service come spray a few times a year around the building and balconies and around all the doors. Also just cleaning the balcony and getting rid of the webs on a regular would help.
Reserved a double room for the three of us. It was two full beds not queen. Very tiny. Asked for a cot or roll away beds and they said they didnt have any. Asked for extra bedding to sleep on the floor, they brought up two pillows and a thin blanket.The toilet bowls are shaped weird and required 2 or 3 flushes each time. Then it would randomly gurgle like it was clearing a clog.They required us to sign a code of conduct agreement, but when the next team came in, there were children running everywhere, unsupervised and often barefoot. Little was done to stop that behavior.There was no free breakfast in the morning, but wanted you to pay the high prices of the restaurant. We had to add to our already high room fee group rate.Multiple times I tried going to the bar after we came in around 10 and was told theyd already closed for the night.I could go on, have a 2 cause they were at least clean and the location was nice.

2022-05-17I have stayed at this hotel several times and have enjoyed it. The rooms are very clean and spacious. The bed is very comfortable. I love it being on the river and downtown so we could go for a walk and enjoy the river scenery as well as browse the shops. The pool and hot tub was nice, the hot tub is a little on the small side for the size of the hotel, but the pool was warm enough to sit on the edge and put your feet in and enjoy a drink. Overall I highly recommend this hotel and will stay here again in the future.

2022-06-09Really enjoyed my stay there. It was comfortable, clean and welcoming. The food was good, the bed was really comfy and the pillows were awesome. I forgot my own and didnt even think about it after the first night. Our room had a river view and after a full day of learning, it was relaxing to watch the activities along the riverside. It was also really quiet.

2022-03-28I stayed here on my wedding night and everything was nearly perfect. There was a room mix-up which was quickly rectified, and the breakfast the next morning was exquisite.Room service the night before was ... room service, but the food was tasty. We liked our stay.

2022-01-24The location of this hotel is ideal for those looking a nice view with restaurants and bars (besides the hotel) nearby. The reason for 4 stars is due to housekeeping requests that werent fulfilled until after many attempts. Also, my Diamond status or benefits werent mentioned during my check-in process. Definitely a training opportunity.

2022-04-22I stayed for two nights in April 2022 and discovered a bed bug in my room after the second night. I captured it in a Ziplock bag and brought it to the front desk to be helpful in their handling of the issue. I left the hotel with bites on my ankles, legs, arms, chest and neck that continued to develop over the next 24-48 hours. While the front desk person was apologetic, the management is refusing to refund my stay and making it difficult to escalate the issue. At the time of checkout, the manager tried to hide in the office when I went to talk to him, referred me to the head of housekeeping, and finally said he would have to talk to his manager about it. After being put on hold over Easter weekend and enduring several days of him artfully dodging my phone calls, I am extremely frustrated. As of now they are not going to refund my stay and suggested I call a 1-800 number. I was miserable last weekend and spent a lot of time making sure my clothing and luggage were safe to return to my house. This is extremely poor customer care. If someone left my place of work the way I left theirs, I would be bending over backwards to make sure the situation was made right. Bed bugs could happen anywhere, but beware. While the bug situation is bad, the negligence of the management is just inconceivable. If I do get resolution of this issue, I will report back.

2022-05-13This is a hard review to write. Some things about this hotel were great. Location is really nice. Great restaurants/coffee places near by. Our room was spacious and clean. Nice to have a microwave and fridge. Bartender Gaby and all the front desk staff were excellent to deal with. The downfall, and it was a big one for me was a mistake was made when I ordered room service, wrong room was noted. Im not upset about that, mistakes happen, what is not ok is that my food was kept warm for roughly 60 minutes while the mess was sorted. I was given 20% off my bill. So I waited 90 minutes for food that was so dry and awful and basically paid full price for it. We threw it all out as it wasnt edible. I would have happily waited another 20 minutes for a fresh order that would have been edible. Second big issue was housekeeping banging on my door at 8:50am on my checkout day telling(not asking) me she wanted to clean my room. I was in my pjs, my daughter was sound asleep and when I pointed out check out was 11 she pointed at her cart and said but Im here to clean. I know it was a busy day for them and had this happened at 10am I wouldnt have been bothered but 8:50am, come on.Overall: good hotel in a great location. Management perhaps needs to train their staff better as to how to deal with these situations.

2022-05-07Very good chain. But they charged my card 20% over invoice, over $80, without notice. Desk lady was clueless. Manager said it was to cover incidental in-hotel purchases I might make and presumably neglect to pay for.I call BS on this.Yes it was refunded a few days later but hey, yall cant ding my card like that, without permission, just because you think you need that much protection against deadbeats. I aint one and theres no excuse for treating me like that. Shame on you! Ill quit the Hilton chain if this policy stays in place.

2022-01-17I stayed at this hotel this past weekend with my family. A part of the sink fell and landed on my daughters to leaving it bruised. We spoke with management and had them try to fix it but they said it was broke and shouldnt have been in the room. They didnt do anything to accommodate us in any way. They took the broken part and said report it if we wanted. They didnt show any compassion for my daughter who was crying when they were in the room. I will not stay at the hotel again and feel their services was below average.

2022-03-15Stayed here for one night and it was ok. Checked in and the girls at the front were nice. They gave me a couple of cookies but Im allergic to nuts so I just gave them to my boyfriend instead. Got to our room and it was at the very end of the hall right next to the housekeeping area and elevator to go to the pool/fitness center. So there was a lot of noise from people and the elevator which was a little annoying. The room itself was clean but the bed skirt was sloppy for both beds. The air vent is right next to one of the beds so its blowing directly onto your face while youre sleeping. Beds were very firm so I didnt get much sleep. Overall, it was an ok stay

2022-03-14Got away for a few days and was centrally located for us. Rooms nice and clean bed was very comfortable. Pool and hot tub was perfect first thing in the morning with noone in them.
