From my experience their service has been pretty good during this time. Every time Ive gone its the same people working I give them respect and hope they are holding up. Friendly and straight to the point. Most of the food that I have had from them (especially their rolls and sashimi) has been great apart from some dishes that didnt suit my taste but thats just me. How theyve managed their business through covid is great as well. little to no contact. Im glad we have this option in Adrian and I hope more people open their pallet and pay a visit.
This is honestly one of my favorite sushi places and Im a little picky.Ive tried everything on the menu but there is one roll I literally can not get over. The Bettina Roll 😍 I dream about this roll. No matter what I get I always get at least one of these. Close runner ups are the Yummy Yummy roll and the Saki Maki roll. The Miso Soup is FANTASTIC. I add a little salt but it has a great flavor and the soy cubes are perfect.Their fish is always FRESH fresh and their rice is perfect. Theyre rolled seamlessly so they dont fall apart before they get to your mouth. Their tempura shrimp is fantastic and crispy and warm in the middle of the cold veggies and rice, its perfect.Price for pick up is really not bad considering they are the only good sushi in town.
The reviews were sort of mixed for Dragon Sushi, but this place was so good. My boyfriend goes to Adrian college and we are always lookin for new restaurants to order from. We finally tried dragon sushi tonight where we ordered the green dragon, Sakura, vegas, and crisp crab rolls. They were AMAZING. We ate all four rolls and still wanted more. I’m already craving it again. We will for sure be back!
The best sushi I have ever had! You can tell they take great pride in the quality of the ingredients and excel at presentation!I am now a fan of sushimi and I will definitely be returning! I am planning to work through their entire menu!A must go for any fan of sushi!
Always have excellent sushi & fried rice. However, the lack of warmth and friendliness by what appears to be a one woman waitstaff decreased the ratings. She acts like a smile might actually kill her on the spot. Because she makes it feel like your burdening them, vs enjoying a nice meal out I can only give 2 stars. Yes, her lack of customer service is THAT bad.
I took a chance and popped in for lunch with friends, there was 4 of us. Maybe it was too many people for the waitress to keep the orders straight, because somehow the waitress managed to get everyones order wrong. The place was not busy at all, but everyone ended up paying 4 to $6 more on account she entered our orders incorrectly. She explained that it must have been because the chefs could not read her writing! Food presentation was very nice, and the food was good. But the service definitely needs to be improved, and they would do better with hiring experienced knowledgeable Sushi waitresses. Im not sure if we will be returning!
Some of the worst sushi I ever had. There was little rice on the outside. The spicy tuna roll was awful, so was the yellowtail. The California roll was alright. The miso soup was basically just water and the tofu was soggy. Might as well just go to Kroger for better sushi.
We ate here several times when they first opened. We went back today and the food and service is still just as amazing! I hear so many times people say “but I don’t want to eat anything raw”. I think people don’t understand the amount of options here beyond sushi. I ordered the teriyaki scallop bento box. I would highly recommend any of their bento boxes, especially if you don’t like raw sushi. It’s more than you can probably eat at one serving. All for $10 or $11. A nice combo of a salad with their amazing dressing, spring roll, 4 pieces of California roll (no raw meat), a stir fry with the meat of your choice along with perfectly cooked veggies (not too mushy, and not too raw) and vegetable fried rice that can beat any other restaurant. I feel that this is a hidden gem in our community that people may not understand what you can get beyond sushi. The steak was plentiful and cooked to perfection. vegetarian sushi, had an amazing avocado and cream cheese roll along with a sweet potato roll that were so delicious. I think more need to come here and support this local business.
Today me and my group of 3 wanted to have some sushi in Adrian so we decided to go to dragon sushi and first there was no air conditioning. I left came back another day and at first no problems. I order my drink the waitress walked away without taking the order of the other 2 with me. Comes back with my drink and asks if we are ready to order. We are told it’s no longer lunch which is no problem. We order our rolls and because they are on the lunch special that just ended 10 minutes prior she went on to tell us we can’t have that because it’s no longer lunch. We tell her ok well we’ll need another minute and as she’s walking away under her breath she goes ahead and insults the people at my table. Maybe that’s why every time I drive by there maybe only one car outside. Remember guys customer service is everything and this place did not have it. They made no attempts to try and accommodate. Instead made remarks under her breath and earphones on... I had to make a google account just to rate this place. I’ve never felt this angry to have to do so
Rockos Review for Celiacs :)I have been strictly gluten free and getting better for almost a year now. The first 6 months were the hardest, because the lack of results can be very discouraging. It takes some people years. It is hard to find safe restaurants.Okay, Dragon Sushi. So, I am not a sushi person. Not into raw anything, ever. Still, this place was surprisingly nice. They had multiple rolls to choose from, among many other dishes, cooked and uncooked. The chance for cross contamination is very high, likely even, I would say. If you are newly recovering you should avoid such things. I chanced it.The rolls came with soup or salad. Very basic. The miso soup was good. There were more than 4 gluten free choices on the house specialty rolls list alone. Of course everything tempura is made with gluten and so is off limits for celiacs. There were plenty of other options. Most of the gluten free rolls (keep in mind, they dont specify here which, so you need to know your gluten ingredients yourself and check each description) did have cheese, that could be noteworthy for many with celiac who are still recovering that capability. The fish was tasty and the sauce was delicious. Not a wasabi fan, but it looked like the tube kind. The deserts are very limited. Mochi, fried banana (same fryer as tempura be aware) and chocolate something. Funny thing: the mochi was the Exact Same as at the little freezer at the check out at the local grocery store, cut into 4 slices, with basic whip cream added. Lol. Very gourmet.I was happy to be able to order gluten free items, since each roll has all its ingredients listed on the menu, so I didnt have to bother anyone else with that. The menu however does Not slecify which are cooked and which are raw. And of course just because they are without gluten does Not mean the place is celiac safe.Perhaps you wonderDude WHY are you at a sushi place if you dont even eat raw fish?Right? :)I was with 3 other ppl who Love sushi, they picked.I would go there again, mostly because of the many gluten free options. Not many places around here have more than 2 dishes without gluten available.
Probably an okay experience if you stick to shrimp and krab stick style rolls. The fish for chirashi was not very fresh and had poor flavor. If you like good sashimi this is not the place to go. The sushi rice was not very flavorful either. The complementary salad was a nice gesture but throughout the experience the lack of technique was evident (uneven knife cuts, rolls drowned in sauce). Its worth driving out of town to A2 or Toledo.
Came here over Labor Day weekend, they werent very crowded, and everything was great. Our server was fast and on point, refilled our drinks quickly, and didnt make a fuss about the toddler at the table. The place is a little lacking in seating, theres not a single booth, all tables and chairs. The Miso soup was delish, and the variety of rolls we tried were all fantastic and fresh. Every sushi place seems to have some ingredient that they put on a majority of their rolls, and oddly this ones specialty seemed to be tempura crunch, and lots of it. Even the spicy tuna roll had tempura crunch mixed in with the fish! The Adrian Roll is absolutely drowned in crunch as well. Delish, if maybe a little overboard.
I like the place a lot! The food is pretty good and prices pretty reasonable. There are some improvements to atmospher that could be done, maybe some light music and better lighting. Though small complaints aside it is a good place to get some good sushi with friends.
Worst dining experience Ive had in a very long time.First off, it took a solid 15 minutes before anyone bothered to take our order (and they werent busy). It turned out each waitress thought the other was serving us but no one bothered to check in. Finally my husband had to get up and ask for someone to serve us. The waitress that finally did was friendly enough, offering to slide us her employee discount as a nice gesture to compensate for the extended wait, but towards the end of the meal we only received the 10% discount that the were offering EVERYONE for just checking in on Facebook.Secondly, I ordered the salmon rue sashimi that never arrived. In fact, my husbands bento box dinner arrived a nice five minutes or more before my dinner arrived. Our waitress finally brought over my sushi roll minus the salmon roe sashimi because she thought I shouldnt have to wait any longer. Towards the end of the meal I inquired (again) about the missing salmon roe sashimi only to be told itd be another five minutes (after I would be done with dinner) because they had to wait for the salmon roe to thaw. What?? I canceled it since I was almost done eating and I didnt like the sound of it thawing. The hostess (who hadnt bothered to talk with us at all before) came by at this point offering to include the salmon roe for free but then without giving us the discount. Again - WHAT? The discount (that everyone was getting for just checking in on Facebook) was already a given (but was supposed to be more, never mind that) due to the extreme wait we had to place our order. It had nothing to do with the absentee roe. The whole thing was outrageous. I was furious and felt totally unappreciated as a customer. I will NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER be back. The sushi itself was good but not worth the HORRENDOUS service and treatment. This is a new business. I would think theyd be a bit more courteous to their customers.DO NOT BOTHER WITH THIS PLACE.
Food is alwaysok.Far better Japanese food joints in other cities.Wait staff has always been terrible.. this is out of 10 ish visits. We keep hoping ownership will crack down but its possible, quality of workers required, is not available in this Adrian. But food if ok and a decent substitute for the better cities that it is hard to get to on a regular basis.
Okay so I decided to come here alone for lunch. As it turns out, Im glad that I didnt bring a group. Certainly not much in the way of atmosphere to begin with. I elected to sit at the sushi bar.I thought I would keep it simple, so I ordered a 3 roll lunch combination (spicy tuna, salmon and eel) and additional couple pieces of nigri sushi. I opted for the salad rather than the miso soup. So far so good. The salad arrived promptly but I was amazed to see that it was not topped with the traditional raw ginger salad dressing one would expect to find in any good sushi restaurant. Instead it had a creamy dressing that Im pretty sure was some kind of buttermilk ranch. Strike one.Sitting at the bar, I was able to watch my food being prepared and to see the ways they treat their ingredients. I was surprised to see that all of the sushi fish has been pre-cut, put on a plate and covered with Saran Wrap. This creates additional surface areas they can become oxidized and unfresh more quickly. The fillings for the spicy tuna rolls and others, have been pre-mixed in large batches and placed in plastic Deli tubs. When I think of a spicy tuna roll, I think of hand chopped tuna, like a Hawaiian tuna poke. Yes I realize that these typically come from the leftover cuts when preparing nigiri and sashimi. But this pre-made paste was obviously made in a food processor (God only knows when) and more closely resembled baby food than good sushi. Strike two.The eel was once again stored precut in a dish containing sauce. It was then heated in a microwave. Strike three. The rolls themselves, were very sloppily made. There was no uniformity in size and not even an attempt to cut off and discard the cigar butt ends of the salmon roll. The chefs do not use the traditional rolling mats in order to produce a tightly rolled roll. This makes the pieces fall apart easily (when using chopsticks to dip, chunks end up in the soy sauce) and appear larger than they actually are. Strike four.I gave this place 2 Stars rather than one because despite all of the shortcomings described above, the actual flavors of the food were pretty good. I hope they do away with the shortcuts that prevent their food from being better. Precut fish and bulk-made, food processor fillings are the kind of things you see in fast-food, Sushi food trucks. Dragon Sushi does not have such a large number of customers that they dont have time to do it right. They will never make it if they continue to sacrifice quality. I hope that their management takes the time to actually read this review. I would like to see them be successful.
You pay for location/convenience - No Competition means the customer suffersThe make up any entrees price should be: 25-30% = Ingredients & 70-75% for Property, Wages, Tools, Utilities, Upkeep, etc. etc. etc. Dragon Sushi has chosen to make the same mistake most new companies in Adrian Michigan suffer before failing - Trying to get our of the red as quick as possible...no matter the costDragon Sushi in Adrian MI makes the same mistake as a large number of restaurants in the Adrian area. They use the local competition to set their price without acknowledging that their closest competition is more than an hour away. And in that, ANN ARBOR pricing is considerably higher than Adrians Standard of living. (Similar example: Dominoes in Adrian - who cites Ann Arbor as their regional estimate costs 81% (per sq. inch) more...than Saline Michigan....all of 20-30 min away)The issue here is that Dragon Sushi, while polite, efficient, and clean, do not place the product above the experience. The bulk of their supplies come from food service supplier Reinhart Foodservices or even Gordon Food Service, the cost of the ingredients are severely reduced. Still, Dragon Sushi falls victim to the bad-restaurant-habit (more common with new establishments than well vetted) of trying to get out of the red as fast as possible by sacrificing quality and maintaining the same price as if they did.If youd like to see this first hand, please, visit Dragon Sushi, order any roll/set of rolls that are lacquered with a sweet sauce, and then just try and compare it to the sashimi (Fish draped atop of rice). Youll notice that the charging force of the flavor...is the sauce...not the meat. And sure, any sauce should be a compliment, though Dragon Sushi has taken the equivalent step of smothering Sweet Baby Rays BBQ Sauce on chicken and calling it Barbecue Chicken.PLEASE NOTE: This is not an insult to their food, this is a highlight of the severe disconnect between their pricing, and the food they service. For a family of 4 - Travel to Ann Arbor, try out Nagomi Suhi, or Totoro. Youll get the same experience, and still have left over for gas. Where as, if you chose to dine at Dragon Sushi, youll be paying more...for less.If youre more of a numbers person, try comparing what is offered:- The Lunch Specials offer little to no discount and all have the same structure Entry type (CHEFS CHOICE) & California Roll This, in food service is how you use up your stock before it expires. A similar comparison would be ordering a pizza: Who likes paying $9-13 to get a pizza...you chose the crust and sauce, but everything else...is chosen by the cooks. Hope you like cheese pizza.Miso soup: Adrian - $2.50 Nagomi - $2.00 Totoro - IncludedIf you take some time for yourself, and compare the prices of the California Roll, or any combination, youll see that Dragon Sushi is severely overpriced for what they offer. The food is standard (Its quite hard to mess up rice and tuna...almost as hard as messing up bacon and eggs), the prices are remarkable...and not in a good way.The best any in Adrian can hope for, is another Sushi distributor to open up in the area to drive down costs. As of right now...Dragon Sushi did their math...they know the average person in Adrian doesnt like to travel, so their prices reflect that.Consider: Average annual individual income (before taxes) for someone living in Adrian is $17,124 (US average is $28,555). The average household annual income in Adrian is $31,576. (US average is $31,576)In Ann Arbor (Who has the same/lower pricing than Dragon Sushi in Adrian) The average annual individual income is $36,074, and the average annual house income is $56,835.I hope with those numbers, you can see the cause for concern at Dragon Sushis pricing.

2021-09-04My boyfriend and I were desperate for sushi, we usually eat at very nice sushi places and travel to bigger cities for it but the pandemic has made it difficult…This is the worst sushi place I have ever eaten at. It’s basically grocery store quality…probably worse. Whole Foods has better sushi than this. I have never gotten sick from eating sushi before and this made me and my boyfriend sick. Nothing tasted fresh, some fish even tasted bad. What a let down, I was hoping to have a go to place nearby but I definitely won’t be coming back after getting sick after.

2022-07-12Solid sushi in a rural town. Service is not great. Prices are a bit high. Sushi is better than grocery store sushi at meijer. Don’t expect the world but expect somewhere in the middle and you’ll be happy.

2019-08-21I was a little skeptical of this place initially. But I am glad I went there. It is an amazing place with really good sushi. The salad did not have the best of the ginger dressing but the sushis were really great. What makes me feel like going there again are there chicken dumplings or gyoza. I LOVED THEM!! A must try...

2018-06-08The sushi is always delicious. Make sure you dont get the bad waitress (the one sitting on her phone ignoring her tables.) Thankfully the owner picks up her slack. Hes a great guy.

2022-02-18I ordered yellow tail sushi and couldnt even bite through the piece of fish. I dont know if it was a bad piece of fish or just cut wrong, but it was terrible. I also ordered Gyoza and usually its pan fried on one side and then steamed, but these were completely deep fried and overdone. Just chewy and weird. Would Not recommend this place.

2021-09-16*tried this place again because of good reviews, it is still TERRIBLE*Restaurant staff and owners couldnt care less about quality or customer satisfaction because there is no competition. Soon I fear, there just wont be any sushi in Adrian unfortunately.Im not sure if the people claiming this is the best sushi they ever ate have ever tried sushi anywhere else. Since this is the only sushi place in town, maybe all these 5 star review are from people who have never left Adrian,mi in their entire life? 🤷 Its LOWER than grocery store quality. Arrived at designated pickup time for my order and was told it would be an extra 20 min, then took 30 min while I sat in my car. Not busy at all...Hands down the worst miso soup I have ever eaten. Portions of the soup and the sushi were miniscule... What a rip off. Sushi packet in Pic for size comparison, youre not seeing an illusion, SIX pieces of sushi (an entire roll) are the size of a disposable soy packet. This is laughable. You should be ashamed of yourself!!!

2022-06-21Awkward pickups usually. Generally ready, but it’s hard to know how long the wait is going to be when no one comes up to the window.
