Going out with family and friends, it was a shame to hear from our waiter that after over 20 years of dedicated service to the Westland community, this restaurant will be shutting its doors later this month. Upon some investigation, I was somewhat disappointed that aside from some speaker music, pictures, plants, and artifacts, the decor could have been a little more complimentary to this type of restaurant. Also, the carpeted floors appeared to be stained in some places and our booth seats had leftover crumbs that had not been cleared off.We found the food to be delicious (I ate almond chicken w/ fried rice and two dinner rolls); my only complaint would be that the portions are very oversized for one meal (so we got carry-out containers). The staff at the restaurant are very friendly and seem to enjoy working here.

The food here is outstanding! It is family owned and operated for the past 20+ years, and the recipes are in their own style as if you were eating at their house. Once you eat there, you become a part of their family, and they remember what you had the time before. Never had a dinner that was bland or boring; the food is always plentiful and left overs are almost a given. The pricing is exceptional, and during the current price hikes that all restaurants went through, theirs managed to stay the same. Will not eat at any other Chinese restaurant but East Ocean.

My family has been eating here for years. The food is excellent both for dining in and for carry out (with rather large portions). Everyone is incredibly friendly and the inside of the restaurant is lovely, and very clean. (and there is no MSG in the food).

My girlfriend bought a chicken almond dish. The dish was TASTELESS, and the chicken was not fillet. It had tendons and stuff in it, so it made the whole dining experience awful. NOT GOING BACK! WE THREW THE FOOD AWAY! And that is saying much, since we are poor college students. I went to the Lebanese Restaurant next to it, which had an awesome chicken wrap, and great hummus!

Remember they dont use MSG and their kitchen is spotless. Its a clean chinese meal with caring staff. Eat here for a good quality meal. Other places MSG everthing for flavor and its bad. Tell them less breading if you dont want it. They listen.

I have been to East Ocean Chinese Restaurant. and I love it. It was my sons very first Restaurant since he was little. I will recommend this restaurant for Chinese if you are in the Westland Area.

Food is amazing! Customer service is amazing! I have been coming here since I was a little girl. This is the best chinese restaurant in town! 5 stars!!

The place has a good family atmosphere to it. the food is good . the is almost fair. the service is good. i would recommend this to as a good place to eat.
