The bar is right across from Comerica park which made it a great place to go before the baseball game. The outdoor patio is very roomy with lots of seats and standing space. Quality of the drinks was great for the price. The inside seating is small, but on a nice day youll definitely want to be outside!
Stopped here before a Tigers game. They opened a bit earlier than their posted hours. Staff was friendly and checked on our table regularly. My Classic Grilled Cheese w/fries was incredibly tasty. The basil leaves were a nice touch and the rye bread was great. The fries were seasoned and delicious. Even came with a slice of watermelon on the side. Clean inside and the bathroom was very clean. Its pricey but not that bad considering it is wedged between 2 major league ballparks. I always stop here when I head to games.
On a recommendation from a tour guide we decided to try this place. Its a bar food type place wedged between Comerica field and Ford field. So GREAT location. Had a brew and a cheesesteak. Boom good. Were also had quesadillas that was very good. Service was awesome. Waitress was super friendly and very warm. Love having this type of service. Will be back. Great job and give that woman a raise
Terrible place. Went here twice for Lions games. Service was awful. Food choices stunk. They kick all patrons out at halftime. The folks inside were overly drunk, obnoxious, and aggressive. Its too bad because its a classic art deco dinner that was rescued from the wrecking ball and moved to what you would think is a sweet location. Id really like to give them my business but I just cant risk another horrendous experience like the last two. Extremely disappointing!
Went there today before the Tiger game. We had a party of 7. 4 of us had burgers and fries, they ALL came out cold although the other food in our party came out fine. Our waitress needs to be trained on how to pre bus tables! Finally started clearing tables when a drink was spilled then handed me a towel and expected us to clean it up. Extremely disappointing visit! As a season ticket holder I dont know if we will be back.
Great atmosphere! Full bar! Awesome food! I recommend the Philly Steak & Cheese, Black Bean Burger, or the Southern Fried Chicken Sandwich! But all menu items are delicious! They even have bacon wrapped beef dogs! Great patio, and right across from ford field, next to Tiger Stadium 😁
The Elwood is perfectly located between Ford Field and Comerica park. We just ambled up to the bar, and had our choice of over a dozen beers on tap. Servers are very friendly, and service is prompt and good, despite the crowds. There is a large gated outdoor area for folks to congregate too. Perfect stadium area bar.
We stopped for lunch before the Monster Energy Supercross event. They were 15 mins late opening with a full line outside of customers. But even with a packed restaurant, the food came out fast and it was excellent! I ordered the black bean burger with fries. I would absolutely come back again! The service was great and the staff handled the crowd pretty well. Did not disappoint!
Stopped in for a drink before heading to Stomp. This was the second stop on our trip. Our bartender was great. She poured a great Jameson and we had a good talk about Detroit and the area. The atmosphere was good and became really crowded with folks heading downtown to watch the games.
Had dinner here before Lions preseason game. Service was incredibly slow (they were busy, but not insanely so). Kids meals came out 20 minutes before our sandwiches, my chicken BLT was missing the avocado. Limp, mostly tasteless fries. Kids did like their grilled cheese, but for the sides, the pickle spear was laid over the watermelon slice and so the watermelon tasted like pickle lol. No refills offered on our drinks til we asked for the check, which was $55 for 2 kids meals and 2 sandwiches. Smaller glasses and everyone was out pretty early in the meal. Dont know if they were short-staffed at that time or just a mediocre restaurant, but we wont be back. Cannot beat the location right across from Ford Field, so go there if that is your most important criteria, and you dont mind lackluster food.
Stopped in to kill time before a Tigers game, and had the chicken fingers w/fries. Love that they have malt vinegar for the fries, and the chicken was CRISPY, but not burned, on the outside, and soft enough to melt in your mouth, on the inside. Darlene, the bartender, was really nice. Its been years since Ive eaten here, but will be back.
Got an outside picnic table 1 hr before first pitch. Took 10 minutes to get 2 waters and 1 coke and put in order. The coke was flat and had to get another one. After 40 minutes we inquired about our order and waitress said it was 3rd inline. She said about another 15 minutes. She was very non-concerning and could care less. We said cancel the order and we would pay for the coke. She bolted to the kitchen as we waited several more minutes and as she ignored our table. I finally caught her eye across the way and said we were leaving. She said OK. Very bad service. By the way, the order was chicken fingers and a sausage sandwich.

2022-05-13Went before a tigers game for a quick dinner and drinks. The waitress went MIA for 40 minutes and we were unable to pay. Got in late to the game and she didn’t even give us a pen to write the tip down for the cards. She was a mess, but the food and drinks were good and worth getting before a baseball game.

2019-03-10First off.... wow this place has changed and hasnt changed a lot in the past 30 years. We stopped in to kill an hour while waiting to get into the Monsterjam pit party at Ford Field. The place was packed with folks of the same mindset. Service was great, food was great, really glad to see the Elwood stood the test of time and evolved to benefit from the Detroit revival. My favorite part of my visit was seeing the (manager) mistake a customer for a vagrant, asking him to vacate the establishment, the struggle is real and its nice to see some things never change.... for the record, I too would have made the assumption, she was very apologetic to the gent.
