I have been a patient with Empower for several years. I suffer with multiple spine and arthritic issues. Through water and land therapy, PTA Shay, has been incredibly helpful. She uses multiple techniques to relieve/reduce pain throughout the session. I love the staff, everyones so positive and extremely professional!I become more empowered, and, suggest anyone to come in and get Empowered today👍🏾😇.
Kind, caring, productive, efficient, effective. Very nice facility, well kept and constantly cleaning after patient use. Everyone is masked and takes Covid protocol seriously. All the staff are charming and fun to chat with while helping you with your PT! Very reasonably priced.
Absolute best Physical Therapy. I’ve had 17 surgeries over 35 years. I’ve been to dozens of physical therapists. Empower PT is by far the best. Anytime me or my family needs treatment it’s Empower in Bloomfield Hills. AWESOME
Empower PT has helped me recover from a work injury. No matter what day I went to PT the staff was always so positive..even if I was hurting. They worked to provide home excercises with videos, which is rare in the P T world. They tried different approaches and exercises each time I went. The best part is that they always asked how I was feeling and dug deep to get the real answers. I truly looked forward to going. The staff also seems like a family that gets along great and truly cares. I will miss going.
Came in with surgery on acl and meniscus tear. Great staff, accommodating schedule, and good equipment. 5 months post surgery got to compete in a pickleball tournament and at 7 months post surgery im close to full strength
The team here is incredibly skilled and passionate about their work.They truly care about the patients, and are willing to use many different and cutting edge methods to help the patients heal. I wasnt sure if I would ever recover from a couple of tough MS relapses, but I did. It was bittersweet to be discharged because theyve been with me through some tough times and helped me to stay motivated, kept spirits high, and helped me get stronger than ever. After years of hip pain, by the 3rd visit I was shocked that Raj figured out my hip pain was really lower back tension. I seriously felt 95% healed by the 3rd visit. I felt 100% better by the 5th visit. All of the staff were warm, professional, and very comfortable to be with. Raj shows genuine concern for each and every patient.
I had a back issue since memorial day of 2020 that wasnt healing. I could barely walk a few steps without pain. Meds werent helping.I decided to visit Empower PT in Jan 2021. Brittany was amazing! She diagnosed the issue and provided amazing feedback with exercises and manual work. I was able to walk a mile and soon could walk mostly pain free. Today I also started to run a little bit. These guys are pros and I highly recommend them. Brittany was my main therapist but I also had sessions with both Raj and Kristy and they were super professional and knowledgeable.Big shout out to support staff Angela, Matt and Lauren. Really glad I went here!
What can I say about the amazing team at Empower Physical Therapy. Raj, Brittany, Angela, Kristi, and Matt are the reason I was able to successfully rehab my right knee after ACL and meniscal surgery. The rehab process is not easy but these guys were there pushing me every step of the way! I highly recommend this team. They take a personalized /invested approach to your success.
This place is amazing! I was referred to Empower Fitness by my family doctor. I had severe left shoulder pain and some finger numbness. The day I went there I couldn’t lift my arm and had trouble in putting on my clothes or taking a shower. I was very frustrated. Raj took a careful check and thorough check and explained to me with video models about my shoulder situation as well as the plan he believed could help me. I had to say the one hour PT was painful and I didn’t expect too much that day. But whatever he did, the next morning I felt much better already and could lift my arm showering and putting on my clothes without help. Raj text the followed up the next day to see how my shoulder was and reminded me of what to do and what not to do. I had neck surgery 5 years ago and had quite a few PT before and after the surgery. I didn’t expect a quick relief like this time. I was very impressed. The whole team is very nice from front desk to PT assistant. And the place is very clean with updated new tech equipments. I strongly recommend Empower Fitness!
Before I started PT with Raj and the team I could not get out of bed without knee pain. After a few sessions I felt stronger, had less pain and was able to start running again. The team is very knowledgeable, caring and upbeat. As a result I’m enjoying a full life again. And, Raj is continuing to provide me with web-based exercises I can do at home at no cost. I highly recommend this organization!
I have had physical therapy several times in the past but never with the success I have had at Empower. Raj and his team are very thorough in customizing a plan just for you. The staff is very professional but also very friendly, so you are comfortable and relaxed during your treatment. I would highly recommend Empower for all of your physical therapy needs.
2021, October: I just concluded my Physical Therapy with Empower. This is my second time going there and this time it was for a shoulder issue. When I went, I was in pain, unable to sleep properly and had limited mobility. With in couple of weeks, I was able to sleep through the night without waking up! Today was my graduation day from Empower and I can say I have all of my shoulder mobility back!! The entire team is so dedicated and caring, I am so glad I went there again!!2020: This was my first time ever going to Physical Therapy but I am glad I followed my Physicians advise to see Raj. Raj, Kristi, Brittany, Matt and Angela and the entire staff at Empower is awesome!
I can’t say enough good things about Empower! I developed costochondritis after a nasty bout of pneumonia in January. By March, I had already had nearly every diagnostic test, and even saw one other PT that was unable to help me at all. They wouldn’t even touch me or recommend anything to try. Once the pandemic struck, I was worsening and really needed a PT regimen to start healing and reduce the inflammation I was suffering from.I started seeing Raj as a virtual patient starting the beginning of June. The process I have made since starting is profound. Within days of starting the stretches and exercises, my swelling and inflammation was greatly reduced. As time went on, my pain was reduced too. I purchased a few inexpensive items to do certain exercises, but the majority of the items I used were found around the house with the help of Raj. Raj listened to my symptoms and progress and adjusted my regimen as needed. Thanks to him, I am now more active than I have ever been in my life! I still keep up with my exercises 5 days a week and know exactly what to do when my pain worsens. This has given me the strength and confidence I needed to be more active as well.Being able to have competent medical care virtually during a pandemic has been invaluable. If you’ve ever contemplated seeing Empower, just have an initial consultation and I guarantee you will be impressed with the help they can provide. If you’ve ever had reservations about being seen virtually, don’t give it another worry and make an appointment today! The support staff is equally phenomenal and kind. You will be in good hands!
Empower PT is excellent! Everyone in Bloomfield Hills is friendly and helpful, I looked forward to every visit. Working with Brittney has helped me recover and learn how to maintain my own posture health to prevent pain from recurring. Highly recommend, they will help you sort out any issues you might have.

Excellent clinic. Raj and staff are competent, very knowledgeable and friendly. Various exercises are prescribed with a rationale based on a plan for improvement in function and pain. I have improved immensely and enjoyed the rehabilitation at the same time. The various exercises and treatments are mixed up and the variety is helpful and psychologically motivating. I highly recommend Empower PT and Fitness with no reservations.
My injury occurred prior to the Covid-19 shutdown. The highlights of my experience were that after my initial visit, I was able to continue my PT with Raj via TeleHealth. Next, Raj gave me a broader view of what impact my injury could have on my overall health as I aged. Next, Raj gave me a program of exercise that not only addressed my injury, but the issue of my conditioning that I could carry beyond the scheduled PT. Lastly, I found Empower Physical Therapys staff to be very efficient as well as pleasant.

Raj was recommended to me by my primary Dr to try and help relieve my lower back pain. Wasn’t interested in medication! Raj showed me exercises that he believed would help with my discomfort. He explained that exercises would be painful at first but would help eventually. Raj really cares! Has texted me multiple times after my PT concluded, always offering advice or motivation. I am so thankful that I came across Empower Physical Therapy in my search for a Physical Therapist for my 17 year old son. My experience has been wonderful from the moment I called to inquire. The staff are friendly and professional. In our first visit Dr. Raj made sure we left with very clear instructions on exercises for home. He gave us handouts and sent an email with a link to app for our phones.I really credit Dr. Raj with being instrumental in my sons healing. In addition, Dr. Raj has gone above and beyond to make appointment times that work for my family. I am so grateful.When my son attends physical therapy Dr Raj is very friendly and engages my son in conversations about more than just his therapy. I observe and hear Dr Raj treating his other patients in this wonderful manner as well.I couldnt be more happy with the holistic care that takes place at Empower Physical Therapy!
In the past 20 years, I’ve been treated by a physical therapist four times for various injuries. Raj and Empower are now the team I will return to if I’m ever in need again! When I first visited for knee pain, I was no longer sleeping well and the pain had moved to my ankle and hip as I was compensating for the knee issues. Raj explained everything thoroughly and treated me with kindness and respect. After three weeks of PT and home exercises, I sleep pain free, am now walking 4 miles a day and feel so much better about my health! Before trying any other facility, give Empower a call! UPDATE: I screwed up my hip on a trip and returned to Raj for help. This time we did Dry Needling! Totally sold - left pain free. Can see myself;f coming back again and again for another needling
Ive been to several physical therapists over the years for a back injury and this is far and away the best treatment I have received. Raj is incredible, not just in his abilities, but his commitment to working within your schedule and providing customized treatment to meet your needs. He even follows up between appointments to check in on how youre doing. He just really cares and it shows. Highly recommend.

I first injured my back in November 2018 and went to another physical therapist for 4 weeks without any significant change. After suffering with the pain until Labor Day weekend 2019, I returned to my doctor, who recommended I try Empower Physical Therepy for my back and my left shoulder, before considering an MRI. After just two visits with Raj my back pain was virtually gone. Between my back pain and shoulder, Raj did a wonderful job getting me back to nearly normal. I highly recommend Empower to anyone needing physical therapy!
I was directed to go to Empower for a rotator cuff injury I had been dealing with for almost a full 12 months. Being new to the area and having had a previously bad experience with a doctor, I did not fully trust my doctors diagnosis that physical therapy would fix my issue. I walked in to Empower an incredibly skeptical client and left 100% pleased with my experience from the first visit.(1) I had no idea what to expect regarding insurance. The office staff was incredibly knowledgeable. They looked up my information, explained my deductible, walked me through their different payment options, and explained their payment procedure for each visit which made paying for every following session stress-free as it was always an open conversation.(2) The Physical Therapists were information focused and made sure I understood the ins and outs of my injury before doing anything. For the first day, this meant that they checked my range of motion, put me through some hands on rotation testing, and even let me watch some videos that helped further explain the injury and give me better insight as to what was going on with my shoulder.(3) From then on Empower was accommodating with scheduling, steadily progressed me through my exercises while challenging me, and the therapists even made sure to explain the reasoning behind every movement/stretch/strengthening technique. As I became more comfortable with the exercises they even suggested needling (basically acupuncture). Normally I would have immediately refused, but at that point I couldnt help but trust the therapists and I gave it a try. The needling did wonders for my back muscles and helped relax a lot of the muscles that were a source of strain on my shoulder.I attended physical therapy sessions at Empower three times a week for three and a half weeks and was successfully discharged before the end of my first month (know that I am in my late twenties and seem to heal relatively quickly). Having played football in undergrad, I had resigned myself to a future filled with shoulder pain, but Empower and the therapists there helped reverse my outlook in the best way possible. Not only am I am leaving happy and healthy, but I am also walking away with suggested workouts and shoulder stretches/exercises to make sure the injury doesnt happen again. I spent the better part of four years in a Universitys varsity sports physical therapy program. I can honestly say that the attention and service I received at Empower was the same if not better. A special thanks to Nick and Paulina. They are amazing and this place truly heals people.
My first visit with Raj was great. I was in pain from a sciatic nerve issue. By the time I left after my first visit, the pain was virtually gone. My next few visits have been focused on working to gain strength to avoid any future problems. Raj is personable, kind, and makes you feel very comfortable when you are working with him.
Amazing place and amazing results. Raj helped me fix my neck/shoulder pain that I had been struggling with for years. I went and saw two PTs before and had no luck. This was a completely different experience. Raj listened to me every appointment and focused on doing whatever it took to fix the pain. I would go here again in a heart beat if I ever needed more PT. I highly recommend to anyone who is looking to feel better again!
Raj is awesome! He provided immediate relief for an acute problem I was having and sent me home with exercises to help me get back to normal. He stayed in touch with me between visits and would send more suggestions of how to tackle new flare ups without waiting for me to come in for an appointment. Raj was very accommodating with my schedule and after 6 appointments, I was finished! Raj is also very personable and easy to talk to!
Raj and his staff do a really great job, they are awesome . I had a pinched nerve in my back and it affected my hands, arm and back and after just a few visits i was feeling a lot better. I cant say enough about Raj great guy and great staff
I am so happy that I found an exceptional physical therapist! I have had back surgery before, but was never able to find a good physical therapist. All of the places I went to (and there were quite a few) consisted of an assistant running between 2 or 3 patients at the same time, not really watching to make sure my form was correct and then waiting in line to use equipment.I recently had an SI fusion and found Raj Thangam on the internet. He is the owner of Empower Physical Therapy and Fitness. He has over 25 years of experience. What interested me most from his website was that he integrates Yoga and Pilates into his therapy. Before I had back problems, I was a Pilates addict.He has been in business since 2008 and has two offices on Clinton Township and a new office in Bloomfield Hills on Long Lake and Woodward. All of his offices have incredibly advanced equipment. There is a gravity reducing treadmill, which can take off up to 80% of your body weight and I was able to walk on it and not damage the joint that was just fused. He uses “redcord” straps and bungie cords which strengthened my weak leg and hip muscles with less pain. These are things I have never seen at the other places I had been to before.The best part is that all of the treatments are one on one. Raj massaged my scar tissue and all the places that were tight and knotted due to the surgery. He carefully explains the exercises and makes sure you are doing them correctly. He knows everything about the body and explained to me in laymen’s terms what was going on with my hips, back and legs due to the surgery.I am confident that when I go back to work, I will be in better condition physically than I was prior to the surgery. I even plan on continuing to have sessions at Empower to manage my chronic back pain. I really think he is going to change my life for the better!!Suzanne Alessandri
This place is phenomenal! Before I went there I could barely walk/move because of the pain in my mid back. I had to stand up so straight for me to move around with ease. But after only two visits with Raj, my back was brand new. The pain was receding and I could do more things like walk and sit again without the pain flaring up. I would highly encourage anyone who needs physical therapy to come see Raj as he is the best in town.
Friendly staff, knowledgable therapist, clean facility, and modern equipment. The combination of various treatments is a fantastic appeoach. No miracle cures here, and it is not a day spa. You are a participant in your own healing. Stick with it, do the work, and follow the recommended programs. You will see results. Dr. Raj is excellent!
As an athlete I was very worried about my injury making me unable to enjoy my sports. Raj offered me well targeted treatments, exercises and advice that allowed me to continue and enjoy sports. I felt very welcome and they were always extremely accommodating of my schedule.
I highly recommend this place. The staff and the doctors are really helpful and knowledgeable. The clinic has all the modern equipments and machines. I noticed quick results with the exercises suggested and therapy. Doctor Raj is very thorough with his diagnosis and suggests the right exercises.

Empower PT is the best physical therapy clinic I have ever used. I needed PT since I tripped over my 70 pound shepherd who ran in front of me as we ran downhill. Iâ m 67 years old and have been in PT MANY times; double broken legs, broken arm, Guillain-Barre, frozen shoulder and a strained back. Iâ ve had success at each clinic I attended but at Empower the experience was more engaging for me because the employees were more engaged. I was able to have almost 20 visiting for my broken hand. Each and every employee greeted me when they could (busy clinic). They also asked me follow up questions, possibly asking if their suggestion last week had helped, all without checking my chart! They remembered me and my condition. Sometimes youâ re at therapy with heat or ice after theyâ ve worked on you, I was able to see same interactions with other patients and their family members. The caring the employees show their patients starts with their owner Raj and manager Brittany and extends throughout the whole staff. Raj has a great business model and if/when I need therapy again Iâll seek him and his staff out.

2022-08-10Ive never been so happy as to finding a place where they really care about your outcome. They honestly let you know what to expect and how to achieve your goal.I tore my rotator cuff many years ago. I didnt have a good experience where I was going, so I didnt continue my therapy. The PT was always on his phone watching UTube and sharing Instagram pics with the other employees. Needless to say, I didnt achieve my goal..Luckily, I found Empowered PT and Fitness. Melissa and Brittany are wonderful therapists. Laura comes in part-time. They watch you do your exercises and critique you to make sure that youre doing it correctly so you dont further injure yourself. My pain level has gone down quite considerably since Ive been going there. Im also getting a better range in motion in my shoulder. They have the best and latest equipment. They also have PT Techs Gio, Mia, and Lauren, who are learning the business, and they are doing a great job. Hannah, the receptionist is always very nice and greets you at the front desk.In retrospect, I feel a smaller private company is better than the larger PT chains. Theyre more intimate with your needs and better educated to evaluate your injury and to create a plan to help with pain and motion.I tell all my friends about Empower PT and Therapy, as they can see the difference.

2022-07-02I would like to Thank the staff of Empower Physical Therapy for their help after my SI Joint Fusion surgery and Spinal Fusion surgery. My primary care doctor, who is also a patient of Empower, strongly recommended treatment here before and after my surgeries. After my situation was analyzed, you employed a multi-discipline approach of soft tissue work, dry-needling and guided exercises that has regained my range of motion, the strength in my legs and back and eliminated the pain caused by being unable to use certain muscle groups. I have recommended Empower Physical Therapy to friends and family that have experienced problems that physical therapy would be a benefit and I will continue to recommend them to you. I am very grateful for the relief I have experienced from coming to Empower. Thank you again.

2022-02-23Excellent service and help overall. The team is very caring and friendly, quite flexible to accommodate me with my busy schedule. I was given paper printouts as well as the online link to follow along for the exercise routine. The team is very knowledgeable and made sure all my questions were answered. They helped me recover quickly after my total knee replacement. The facility is very clean, and all the surfaces and equipment were sanitized after every use.

2022-01-17I came to empower recovering from a bad shoulder accident, I had lost 80% of my mobility in my right arm after being in a sling for 8 weeks with a humerus fracture. After months of consistent PT with Kristie & Brittany I am at 100% & cannot say thank you enough for the knowledge & kind care given. The entire staff is friendly, polite & timely. The facility is clean, not overwhelming, you always see the team disinfecting. They have the true care factor that you do not get at large health care facilities. Kristie & Britt took the time to listen & let that guide your rehabilitation. The hours are flexible for before or after work. Angela at the front desk was always so sweet & professional. I am grateful for the team at empower getting my shoulder & arm back to a functioning level.

2022-03-31Currently, I am having therapy for a leg issue. Brittany Kozicki and the Empower staff have been phenomenal with my care. Appointments and insurance issues are handled in a timely fashion. I had therapy here for a shoulder issue two years ago and returned because of the quality, effective care I received. This facility is clean and they follow CDC protocol and also wear masks. They are awesome!

2022-05-24When I started at Empower I had severe shoulder arthritis and an aggravated rotator cuff. Brittany and the team helped me get back to full range of motion and strength, and have given me the knowledge and exercises I need to continue to better myself at home.
