Comment: My husband reserved a mid-sized Toyota car with the full tank option at the additional price of approximately $65.00, prior to arrival at our destination. When we went to pick up the vehicle, there were no cars available and we had no option but to accept renting a large pickup truck, much to our consternation. After arriving home from our trip, my husband checked his email to discover that Enterprise had charged him approximately $147.00 for the full tank option. This is not fair (and deceiving) as we did not reserve the truck but was forced to accept it as no other mid-size vehicles were available. Enterprise should do the decent and right thing by refunding my husband the difference between the full tank option for a large pickup truck and a mid-sized Toyota car, which is about $82.00.

Comment: Very long wait to get a car. I had reserved a VW Jetta. The woman came out with 2 sets of keys and said, you can have a sedan or a VW Taseo. When I asked about the Jetta I’d reserved she repeated my 2 options. I asked what type of sedan and she said she didn’t know, so I took the VW as it was an SUV. Turned out to be a great vehicle and had all the options including GPS and stereo, none of which I had to pay extra for. But still a strange set-up.

Some confusion with the return, but all was taken care of in a timely fashion. Will use Enterprise Rent-A-Car in the future.

Comment: Worst experience ever. I still haven’t received the receipt I requested, today is Saturday and I requested the receipt last Wed. I picked up in SB&dropped off in Anaheim. Dropped off at the Pixar hotel where there were no signs, no info, no receipt, no Enterprise rep. Front desk wasn’t helpful, no one knew where I could drop it off, email instructions only said Pixar hotel. The parking lot attendant told me to drop off on fifth floor. Picking up in SB the enterprise desk was closed and the attendant asked me to pick up at the other company’s desk (can’t recall the name of the company) even though I had a reservation I still had to wait 30 minutes bc none of their cars were ready. Never renting with Enterprise again.

Comment: I requested a Corolla when I made the reservation and when I got to the counter I was told they didnt have any available and gave me the keys for a Charger. When I went to the lot to pick up the car Crystal took one look at me and asked Are you comfortable with the Charger? I said No, but what can you do? She said she would look around the lot and came back with a Camry. I was so pleased! I am 82 and definitely not a Charger driver.. Crystal made a big difference in my renting experience for the trip. She is to be commended for her excellent customer service.

Comment: This enterprise is my least favorite. The customer service is usually kinda up and down. They rarely answer their phones, the car was not completely clean when I received it but one of the guys did offer to clean it. While driving the oil and maintenance light came on but they told me it was fine? I was concerned about that. In all unfortunately I don’t recommend this enterprise. The walk to the airport can be alot since you have bags. It’s an uncomfortable experience every single time

Comment: I arrived at the counter to rent the vehicle and was told I could not rent the vehicle without a second document (besides my drivers license) verifying my address. I did not have this document with me since this was not made clear to me before arriving at the counter. I think this requirement is ridiculous and Enterprise needs to either change their policy or make it crystal clear what the requirements are to rent a vehicle from them when making the reservation.

Comment: I am a regular customer of Enterprise. Whenever I come into SB to visit my son I rent from this company at the SB airport location. Each time they try to switch my original car request/reservation to a car they are trying to unload, specifically the Challenger. I am a woman traveling alone and I feel they repeatedly try to take advantage of me. When I decline the Challenger car they tell me how Ill have to wait for car returns. Eventually I get something decent.This last visit they charged me for fuel although I filled up prior to return. I spoke with Nick and he reversed the charge and gave me an additional refund for all the hassle. However, after the credit was put through they reversed it on my credit card, re-charged me!This is fraud and I have contacted corporate about it. I spoke to someone at the SB counter and they said they would get back to me and didnt. I have been calling for a week and no one picks up the phone ever. Absolutely no customer service at this location.

Comment: The quality and value I once knew and loved from enterprise has declined in my opinion. Upon arrival to the airport, I waited over an hour for a rental car to become available. After I dropped off my car, two extra days were added to my receipt which was sent a few days later. I’m not sure if this was on purpose or a tactic to get more money out of their clients, but it felt dishonest. One other time I was charged a fuel fee when the car was returned completely full. Both incidents were corrected, but would have gone unnoticed if i hadn’t checked the receipts.

Comment: Im giving them 4 stars because when I turned the car in, they did not check it in. I got charged two extra days even though I turned the car in. I called and spoke to a girl, unfortunately I didnt get her name. She told me she would take care of it, their system was down when I turned the car in. The next day, another charge. I called again, spoke to a guy, no name, he told me it would be taken care of within 10 minutes. I kept checking. Nothing. So I had to drive to the airport to get this fixed. It was very frustrating. I spoke to the manager, Haley MacAllister, the station manager. She fixed the problem and was kind enough to remove a couple of days, for the inconvenience. The car was good, it was clean, and got me where I needed to go.Im disappointed with the two people I spoke with. They couldnt be bothered. They just said whatever to shut me up. It was an inconvenience for me to have to drive out there. When you hand them your keys youre trusting them that they will turn your car in. It wasnt in my case. If I hadnt driven out there, they would still be charging me. Not cool.Thank you Haley.

The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is the actual locating of the vehicle for pickup and then dropping the vehicle off. There was no outside help and the signs were very confusing. Comment: A really unprofessional outfit.The team at national were nice enough to cover for Enterpriseon a saturday morning.However, I was unable to pick up the car due to my method of payment being debit ( I was unaware of this until i took an Uber to the airport to pick up the car).Since then, I had to ask a local branch to pick me up and pay double for a rez that had been made months prior.I tried calling the airport branch and no answer. Just 45min + hold time. The call center was unable to cancel my original reservation.I had random employees texting me in the middle of the night asking for more information than I was comfortable giving out on top of other employees (not identifying themselves) emailing me asking for more info days later...a quick phone call would have resolved all of their confusion.My entire experience with enterprise risked ruining our trip and caused undue stress and delays.I will not be using them in the future.I would especially avoid using this particular branch.

Then, though the vehicle was returned a couple of hours early, they kept charging me for two days after as if I had turned it in late. I called after the first day, and they did it again on the second. I again contacted them, and described the over-billing and the problems with the vehicle including ones that made it illegal to be on the road. I told them I was grossly overcharged given the grotesque quality of the vehicle. I asked that somebody call to discuss cutting the cost. Days later, still silence. I simply cannot take a chance with Enterprise again. Looks like I need to move on to another rental company.

When my specific model car I had reserved was not available due to damage with prior renter, Nicholas went above and beyond to get as close to a similar model as possible. He was very quick, very efficient, and very professional. I’m embarrassed to say I was was annoyed with the news I could not get the car I had prearranged. Comment: Such an easy place to rent a car! I really like that the rental counter is in the airport and the rental cars are just outside the terminal. Very nice and professional staff. The vehicle I rented was taking too much time to get cleaned / processed so the agent asked if I’d take an upgrade at no cost - a very nice full sized suv - which I didn’t hesitate to say yes. Dropping off was as easy as pulling up and handing the keys to the outside agent. Highly recommend, so easy and convenient.

Today during our layover in Denver I called the Santa Barbara airport enterprise, spoke to a worker at SB, and confirmed that they would be open and our car would be available. But upon arrival we were told Enterprise and National were both out of cars and that our reservations did matter. We are traveling to a wedding that is 2 hours away from this airport. They did not provide us with any other options. They refused to pay for a hotel room for us for the night. And rideshare drivers aren’t willing to drive 2 hours away to turn around and come 2 hours back. According to the custodian, this happens A LOT at this airport. BEWARE!

Unlike the others, I can always count on quick and friendly service at the Enterprise counter. To top that off, they usually give me a choice of multiple vehicles. Comment: I have used Enterprise Rent-a-car for many years, at least 15-20. I have always had good reliable service. On my last rental there were some initial problems... I had let them know that I would be arriving to pick up the car at 6p, and we arrived a little early so I went straight to the Enterprise desk only to find it closed! I was a bit peeved... We Ubered to our home, and returned the next day to pick u the car. They said I would be reimbursed for the Uber rides. The next problem occurred on our way to go to a Wine Tasting in Lompoc, and several miles short of our destination the Low fuel light came on, much to my frustration as it is a remote area, and it never occurred to me that the tank would be empty when I picked it up!! I called and voiced my displeasure immediately, and was later texted back by the Branch Manager, Ivy. She let me know that they would be refunding a good portion of my charges to cover the gas, and the cost of the Ubers, and then some. I was very appreciative, and she gave me her phone number in case I needed anything else. This is what I call good customer service! I was ready to end my relationship with Enterprise, but was impressed with their handling of the situation. Ivy, it should be noted, saved Enterprise a long time customer, who will now return for future business. Please acknowledge this exemplary employee for retaining my loyalty to Enterprise. I am fully aware that stuff happens, but she turned a bad situation around, and made me happy. THAT is good customer service!

Comment: Our flight was scheduled to arrive at Santa Barbara airport at 5:15 on a Saturday. I called the day before and asked if they would wait if our flight was late. I was told that they check the flight arrivals and will wait if someone has a car reserved and is on a late flight, and we could call and tell them wed be late and they would wait. Our flight departed late and it was clear wed arrive late. I couldnt call from the plane, so I contacted a friend via facebook who called and sat on hold for well over an hour. Just before 6pm someone answered and assured her they would stay open until we showed up. Our flight landed a few minutes after 6 and we were at the car rental desks around 6:10, and they were closed and gone. Just say you close at 6pm exactly if thats what youre going to do! Pathetic customer service.

Comment: Well, I was not happy at all. First of all, I talked with an agent and we walked through setting up my rental for two days by using my reward points. She assured me that it was set up properly.When I’d gotten to the airport in Santa Barbara, CA, the nice lady at the desk had asked me for my credit card and I told her that it was set up already using my reward points. She assured me that it wasn’t and my cost is right at $280.00👀!!! I didn’t want to make a scene, but I did question her why and she apologized and said that she doesn’t have access to my reward points. I really needed the rental and was tired, therefore, I went ahead and paid for the rental. Needless to say, I was short on my money and couldn’t totally enjoy my vacation.I’d like to get reimbursed and just take off the two-day rental from my reward points or compensate those two extra days of rental added to my current reward points.Enterprise is the only rental that I’ve ever used and I’d like to continue.Also, is there a better way to initially set up this process of using reward points and also, the clerk that handled my transaction, is there a way that they (clerks) have access to the reward points? If so, then this would have been much smoother.Please understand…

They assured her they were the only rent a car open at 5 pm and that they had a Chevy Malibu sized car available for her when she arrived as they would reserve. She had to Uber from our hotel due to our SUV breaking down. When she arrived they told her they did not have vehicles available all day. If they did not have any vehicles available all day why would they tell her that they had reserved a vehicle for her when she called? We feel betrayed by this enterprise customer service and stressed out even more after having been told that at the very least we had a vehicle to move around in since we live 200 miles away. Please beware and confirm with a reservation number which was our mistake although customer service had asssured us we had one.

Comment: The first car I was assigned to (at Santa Barbara Airport) smelled terribly of cigarette smoke and had all sorts of trash in it. I walked back into the airport and told the counter person I wouldnt take that car. He immediately gave me a new car--which was definitely an upgrade from the car I was originally assigned--for no extra price. The only reason this is not a 5 star review is that I had a fractured leg and making an unnecessary trip back into the airport was just not what I wanted to be doing on my bad leg!!

Comment: Be very careful inspecting your vehicle on pick up and return at this location. There was no staff available for that when I picked up and returned what I believe was an undamaged vehicle. In fact the guy at the window had me give my key to the agency at the next window. I then get a letter saying I did $700 damage to their car and a pre-6am collection call. They still have not provided proof of me causing the damage (despite 6 requests) and continue collection activity. I wont use Enterprise again.

Comment: When I went to lot to get car, it was not parked in an enterprise spot. I asked an enterprise shuttle driver for assistance in finding it. he took keys from me. pushed button, apparently he could hear vehicle beep and stated its down there, handed key back to me and he got back into Masserati he apparently was more interested in driving than assisting me. I did not hear beep, so still did not know where car was. walked around some more looking for it . A hertz shuttle driver came by and he helped me locate car. It was parked in a National slot. The hertz driver said this was not uncommon as they are owned by same company... The rental agent told me vehicle was parked in stall 13. well, it was.But it was National stall 13.... I could live with the mix up on the stall but not the very rude shuttle driver, who by the way when he exited vehicle after I knocked on window to ask for his help, forgot to put Masserati in park and it rolled back. I jumped out of the way as he put it in park. Returning of vehicle was without incident, and pleasant.

Comment: I recently had a trip to Santa Barbara and rented a Nissan Frontier from Enterprise. It was clean and well maintained. The airport made it quick and easy to pick it up. The staff we very professional and friendly while observing social distancing practices. For a week rental with unlimited miles it cost me in the area of $260 which I thought was a good deal. My experience with enterprise was great!

The Enterprise counter was unstaffed so the gentleman running the National counter slipped over and helped me get on the road. I agreed to take a vehicle (a free upgrade) that had just been turned in but not cleaned. The gentleman inspected the vehicle with me and quickly cleaned the dirty windows; I was on the road with very little delay. I appreciate that kind of personal service after a long day of air travel. Comment: Expedia didn’t process my rental reservation with Budget so I was stuck at the airport without a car. I tried Avis and Budget - without Expedia the rates skyrocketed. I finally went to the Enterprise and was given a rate lower than Expedia. The rep was so genuine and funny and kind and I loved my little economic car! It drove well and had more bells and whistles than I expected. Upon my return (5 hours late) I wasn’t charged for being late. Thank you Enterprise, I will only rent from you from now on!

Comment: Although i am a frequent renter of Enterprise cars and love the overall company i am extremely disappointed in the Santa Barbara location. I turned my car in and there was no attendant to check the car in. I turned in the keys and got on my flight. Much later in the day i received a call from them saying that i scratched the car and would be financially responsible. I absolutely did not scratch that car, but was not protected from this since there was no one to visually check the car over with me present. When i called the manager and left three different messages he would never call me back to discuss. When i asked them to send me pictures of the scratch from all angles including a shot that proved it was even my car they would not comply. How is that for customer service???

I didnt realize I didnt have my physical credit card since I rarely use one. And they would not accept my debit card. Comment: Emma, the Enterprise Assistant Manager at the Santa Barbara location took a nightmare and made it into a great ending. We rented a car, drove it up to Sausalito where we were staying, parked it and used public transport for our days in San Francisco and Sausalito. When we went to start it, we found that the electronic key fob was dead, which meant that the car was dead. Other than this last minute problem, the car was good for us. Emergency roadside assistance was a complete farce and never did help us. I called Emma at Enterprise who was empathic and completely helped us with the problem. I cannot thank her enough. From he moment she found the right car for us upon our arrival in Santa Barbara (had to have SiriusXM), we knew that she would go the extra mile. Because of her we will rent happily from Enterprise int he future.

Comment: The staff is professional and attentive. They genuinely try to fix issues that come up quickly. I want to stress this because this was not the fault of the staff who were excellent. However, I had significant issues with my rental.I picked up a car at the hollister location while mine was in the shop. The family sized sedan was getting 10 mpg city, and had underinflated tires (6 psi below recommended). Not wanting to do maintenance for Enterprise, I swapped the car out. Interestingly, this car was rented out to another person within two hours (I know because had left something in it) so there is little chance the car had appropriate maintenance performed, instead passed on to another customer.This second car also had underinflated tires, so much so that a dash warning light was on! Then, another dash light came on within a day. It should not be the renters job to perform maintenance on the cars!In bringing the car back I was informed that they didnt have the staff on Sundays to meet demand so it would be about 45 minutes to an hour and a half before I had another car (it took 2.5 hours).Finally got the third car and it had a tire pressure warning light on as well!It appears that enterprise does not perform basic maintenance on the cars they rent. I can only imagine my displeasure if I had rented this car for a vacation and had to spend half a day swapping the car out.

I actually went in and talked to someone about getting a specific vehicle, and I was told they would try to accommodate my request. I went in the next day and the same employee was working and she in fact did get me the type of vehicle I wanted. Ive rented several cars from enterprise at the airport and have always had pretty good service. The last two times I was helped by Andrea I believe is her name and she does a great job.

Comment: Very frustrating....first 15 minute line to get signed in, then new system made me wonder why I even pre-registered. Finished this part, and had to wait another 10 minutes for a second person to take us shopping for a car rather than just being told what stall to go to. Spent time going over the exterior with a fine tooth comb as requested by the second person, yet when we returned the car, nobody even looked at it. It also took a good bit of time to return the keys...he had to enter all sorts of information - not sure why, but again he eluded to the new system. Way too complicated....will not choose Enterprise again soon.
