Comment: Friendly staff and fine cars, but in typical Enterprise fashion: long waits and process for the pickup, questions about why you’re renting, upsells to bigger cars. I got the damage waiver just in case, and ended up with a mark on the side of the car. They asked me 10 mins of questions, where it was, what happened, who I was with, etc. I suggest searching for nearby locally-owned rental agencies - way faster pickup, more genuine service, and if something happens and you have the waiver…it’s waived. Saves a lot of time.

Comment: I recently rented a car from Enterprise, and my experience quickly turned from promising to infuriating. It started off on a positive note with a very polite shuttle driver who made the ride to Enterprise pleasant. However, upon arrival, I was hit with a major disappointment. I was informed that I couldnt rent a luxury vehicle because I am under 21. This policy was frustrating enough, but what really made my blood boil was the inconsistency and lack of consideration in their handling of the situation.The rental was being covered by my insurance company, and the staff mentioned that with a managers approval, an exception could be made. Yet, when they approached the manager, he flatly refused without being given any further information about my insurance coverage, the car I currently drive, or any other relevant details. To make matters worse, an employee mentioned they had a Tesla that nobody wanted and couldn’t rent. I would have happily taken it, but this option was never seriously considered.I believe this situation was handled incredibly poorly, and it felt like my request was dismissed solely because of my age, without any real thought or consideration. It was as if they couldnt be bothered to actually assess my specific circumstances. While the staff members I interacted with were nice, I never got the chance to meet the manager. From the way the situation was managed, it seemed clear that my request was simply brushed aside.Adding to my frustration, the overall condition of the pickup area was appalling. I was shocked to see a bag of drugs on the ground, which was extremely alarming and indicated a complete lack of attention to cleanliness and safety. Furthermore, there were cigarette butts scattered around, showing a clear neglect for maintaining a decent environment. While we were there, another customer had to leave and go to another rental car company due to a similar problem.Overall, while the staff was courteous, the way my rental request was handled and the disgraceful state of the pickup area made for an incredibly disappointing and infuriating experience. Significant improvements in both customer service and property maintenance are desperately needed.

Comment: Very great service and very very good prices for renting a car. They have multiple types of cars available ranging from small to larger. The cars are cleaned and washed as soon as they are brought back to the lot to ensure a fresh and clean car for the next renter. This is a really great enterprise location. But if you are going to go here and not use a credit card, please make sure that you have your paperwork ready (call ahead if you need to to verify what paperwork is required if you are paying by debit card). And as always, treat the staff with respect! They have done an amazing job and deserve to be treated great for that.

He tried to upsale me another car, $11 more per day. I refused and took Lylf back home. I called Costco and talked to Costco customer. The associate admitted that Enterprise takes too many reservations but doesnt have the car.

Comment: (Ive rented at this location before without issue, so I thought Id return. I did everything the same way as I did in 2021) Reserved a car online for a 10 day rental with the possibility of me needing 14 days, scheduled pickup for 2pm on 5/7/24. Walked down to the pickup location from my house (approx 2 miles). When I arrived the car was there, cool. Pull my card out to pay, provide my license and the woman tell me the policy is to show check stubs and a utility bill due to me using a debit card. My debit card has a Visa logo and can be ran as credit, since I walked 2 miles to get here I didnt have a utility bill on hand, but I had check stubs on my phone. The name and address on my ID is the same as the name and address on my check stub, which is also the same name as my debit card. But since I didnt have a utility bill I was denied. Considering that fact that Im a returning customer enterprise should have been able to overlook something as minor as a utility bill. I ended having to take my money to Hertz rental down the street. I sprung for a 16 day rental since they were willing to do business with me.

Comment: I worked with Antony and he treated us incredibly well. The pickup and return process was quick and pain free. I had questions regarding the way that damage and insurance works as well as tolls and vehicle returns and he was thorough and knowledgeable. I rented a Tesla model 3 and the car was wonderful too. It was fairly new and very clean. I travel frequently for work and rent cars often. This experience as a whole was well above and beyond my normal expectation of a rental agency. Thanks, Tony!

Comment: Stars for having expanded weekend hours.I had my rentals window shatter while driving in slow commute traffic, and the way I was treated like I was a criminal was terrible. I was hoping to get a safe replacement to drive ASAP, but since my husband has the spare, they wouldnt allow me to trade, the manager stating that I would likely try to use the spare later that eve to steal the rental from the(gated) lot. The broken window rental I came to exchange. I had paid for 2 weeks of a rental and expected a little more polish on the customer service with that . So they had no problem sending me on my way to drive a shattered glass window car until the next day. They also implied that I probably caused the shatter, becausewe dont know what you did while you had it. I get that, but the lack of tact or care was surprising.

Comment: A Slow day indeed!3/13/24 I had a reservation scheduled for 1pm. I asked if they could push it up to 2, sure no problem they said. I dont see why not! Its a slow day. Boy, was it ever! Apparently, what I should have been told was We can do that for you, but itll delay the whole process and you could end up waiting up to an hour. A little transparency goes a long way.Anyways, they picked me up around 2, that was great the woman driving was very friendly. When she dropped me off I was literally the first customer on their property at the time, on a slow day as they call it. I waited for over an hour and proceeded to watch a cluster *F* take place as bad as the DMV. I told them to cancel and walked out. Why?If I walked into a restaurant and they knew up front I planned to spend $400 (on food I really didnt NEED) would they make me wait an hour?Then I was offered a $20 discount. On a $400 rental. 👎 No deal.I think the part that really rubbed me the wrong way was the misleading lies. They got the car itll just be 15 minutesProceeded to wait 30.Theyre just cleaning it now itll be 5 minutesI had to walk up and just cancel after 12 minutes.To be honest, I never needed the car. It was just to make the wife happy. But she got mad at the whole process, so she told me to cancel and they ended up saving us some money. Thanks Rent-A-Car! (Rating increased to 4 stars).

Comment: I’ve been using Enterprise for several years now and it’s time to start figuring out another option. My first issue is that I reserved a compact car, but there’s no compact cars available, so I have to end up paying more? What’s the point of a reservation? Secondly, I specifically tell the rep what features I prefer and I get directed tocard without said features. So they don’t even listen to you. There’s other car rental car options and enterprise is about to lose me as a long time customer.

Comment: My car was parked and someone hit it. The insurance company promised me the same type of car. Which was a 4 door truck.Enterprise said they only had an SUV. But they said I had to pay an additional $50 a day. I complained but it was take it or leave it.I returned the vehicle which I had for 11 days. The agent confirmed the 11 day rental. I paid my portion of the daily rental. (Which was more than the entire rental fee from other companies)I asked for the contract so I can try and get the extra expenses back from the insurance company.They actually charged me for 12 days.I complained and they said that their policy is to add a full day for any portion of a rental. So basically if you pick up a car Monday at 5pm and bring it back on Tuesday at 8am they charge you for TWO Days. Disgusting…I called and asked about it. And they said that’s how they charge. I said I would ask my credit card company to take off one day and they said that if I did I would be black listed and could never rent from Enterprise again.

Comment: Ive used Enterprise Rent-a-Car exclusively for all the rentals I have needed for quite a number of years. I recently had what began as a slightly UN-pleasant experience (the car I picked up had a light on the dashboard indicating something was wrong) but Enterprise immediately made things better! They gave me a different car (and it was an upgrade from the car I had had originally) AND when the time came to return the rental, they took a significant amount off of the total cost of the rental. Every member of the staff I spoke to were very cordial, friendly, and accommodating, and that counts for a lot with me. I will stick with Enterprise!

I prefer renting from enterprise due to Enterprise hiring employees that are well trained.Summer of 2023, I had some issue with a rental car I returned.I was billed for the damage I didn’t cause. Good thing I took photos and video of the car before I left the rental office.It took a while to resolve issue due to enterprise’s internal process. It got aggravated at times but it was resolved at the end.I do want to shout out to ‘Omar’ who listened yo every word I said and sincerely cared. Enterprise rental car company is very fortunate to have ‘Omar’ as their employee who really wants to help their customers! While my ‘affection’ towards enterprise was slightly dented but it was resolve to my satisfaction and beyond.Sometimes there is no better way to say thank you than say thank you.Omar! Thank you!- - - - - - -(June 2023)Always reliable and dependable employees.When it comes to renting a car, I don’t go anywhere else. Enterprise employees are their biggest assets.Many other rental car companies i tried, they trained their employees at the counter very poorly and don’t have enough skill sets to their work sufficiently and very unprofessional to say the least.Enterprise, you know what you are getting and you get exactly what you asked for. Comment: Unfortunately, I had to reschedule my reservation because I had one last week and because I got there at 330 and waited un till 5 by the time they closed. They still didnt have any vehicles. And they told a few of us there that they were gonna cancel our reservations without even caring to look for a reservation for me. And I had a whole planned trip. Which I ended up losing out on money. Reservation fees and everything else. As a courtesy they gave me a time extension of 2 hours on MLK day, which was my replane trip to Reno with my kids, which ended up being very, very horrible because we were supposed to go on a certain day. That all of the plans that we had ended up just going to dirt. I would never recommend this place.

Comment: Do not come here if you need a specific vehicle type. I reserved a seven-passenger vehicle (for a much higher rate) because I needed to haul my extended family around. Nevertheless, when I checked in, the manager (Bertha Ramirez) did not tell me that my reserved vehicle type (and, in fact, any seven passenger vehicle) was unavailable. Instead, she had me sit for 20 minutes waiting to be taken out to the lot, and I did not learn that there were no seven-passenger vehicles available until I overheard her tell other customers that their reserved type (minivan) was unavailable, and suggested they walk around the lot and choose something else (which she never suggested to me).Most troublingly, Bertha blamed the situation on me, and said that I made the reservation too late, even though I had made the reservation two days prior (including one business day). Even if I needed to make my reservation weeks in advance (which, of course, is not stated anywhere and is otherwise unreasonable), the very least she could have done is give me a call the morning of my reservation to let me know and save me the trip down to the branch.Unfortunately, it is woefully apparent that Bertha simply does not care about whether customers get what they reserve or that they are taken care of in a timely manner. I saw complaints about her in other reviews and tried to give her the benefit of the doubt--I suggest you save yourself the trouble and not make the same mistake I did.The one saving grace about this place is that the other employees actually do seem to care. Shoutout to them.

Due to lack of selected vehicles and no full tank required upon renting anymore, I started renting from the Berkeley office.May 12-14th of 2018, rental was a nice 4 door Honda. The staff is ALWAYS friendly (at both locations) and waiting is no waiting (if picking up car upon opening).I was disappointed upon arrival because the car wasnt as clean, the bumper was dirty. Informed the employee. The paperwork was completed and upon preparing to drive off the lot, I couldnt see thru the windows clearly due to water stains and dust.This could possibly be accepted, if I was a walk-in, but my reservation was made online in advance.I immediately notified the employees again and was informed it will take 15 minutes due to another vehicle being washed and cleaned. Well, 15 minutes I didnt have and no, I didnt want another vehicle or pay $5 for an upgrade. Reservation was made, paid the money to pay for what I wanted and wasnt pleased.The supervisor should make sure ALL vehicles are cleaned first thing in the mornings (clean the windows with Windex and re✔️ the interior as well before opening); especially when they are parked outside 24/7.So, here I go. A nice car with dirty windows and dead bug stains on the bumper.Hire some1 who will do their BEST because thats how they are, no matter what their job decriptions are.Needing a job sometimes doesnt qualify quality of work.

Comment: One of the worst and incompetent Enterprise locations. They called and canceled the morning of my reservation because they didn’t have any cars. Then they called back and said that they had a car and the price would be $500 so I go there and when I get there I’m told it’s actually $1,900. They left me stranded in San Francisco during Thanksgiving and I had to spend thanksgiving alone in a hotel room. Incompetent and rude staff ruined the holidays for me.

When you get to the car rental office you will be told your completed Expedia reservation isn’t “confirmed”, and the only option is a much more expensive vehicle. If the reservation is meaningless to Enterprise, it’s impossible to do business with the company.

Comment: It was Very busy upon my arrival at this location, yet the personal assistants came with greater who let me know someone would be with me soon and offered me a seat while I wait. The delay was only because it was busy on a Friday afternoon just before closing. Although I requested a hybrid model it was said that they didn’t have any available at the time. Even though i paid extra for the hybrid they offer me a Sentra Nissan SV which was more than I expected to buy buy gasoline more often than a hybrid. This car also needed to get air put in the tire twice during my rental period. Overall the team was amazing and helpful.

Comment: I literally felt like tearing up of how polite, professional, and helpful the branch manager Alejandra Marquez is. I rented a car in LA, drove it all the way to the Bay Area and then realized that the LA branch did not set up my drop off in Berkeley, but back to the LA location. I called corporate 5 times, they said theyd just call me back and NOTHING. Called LA, they said I had to take the car back or drop it off super far and pay like double than the original rental. Until I called Berkeley and Alejandra without any hesitation was willing to help. Some thing that NOT even corporate did. Mrs Marquez said Bring it in, ask for me and Ill be more than happy to help you. And just like that, I brought the car in, she checked it, and I paid only what the rental was supposed to be. Comment: Lied to me saying “they could not accept my damaged drivers license” both Ananta and Ben doubled down on the lie. When I asked to see the literature that said that they looked and could find nothing but I found in their own documentation stating a “valid drivers license” was needed which mine is as has been verified by several institutions since the damage occurred.All the information on the license is legible and accurate, it scans.I asked if they just did not want to serve me because of the damaged license and they again said it’s policy but completely failed to back it up. My rental vehicle, a Nissan Altima and the entire staff of the Enterprise served me extremely well. Comment: My experience with the recent Enterprise car rental was very STRESSFUL! There were three principal reasons that contributed to the stress:1. I was asked to produce a valid personal auto insurance card, which I did not carry with me at that time. I was told that this has been implemented recently by Enterprise that all customers show proof of auto insurance.However, about two days ago, I was contacted by Enterprise by telephone for confirmation of car rental. If I were alerted that a proof of car insurance will be required, Id have been prepared for it!2. It is very unprofessional that the rental car I requested had almost an empty gas tank. So, I was given a different car with only a quarter tank of gas . Therefore, I had to go to a gas station to fill up the tank. Car rental companies like Avis or Hertz will never rent out cars with a partially filled gas tank!3. The customers were not provided with any Wi-Fi service at the Enterprise office. After I returned my car, I was unable to call Uber to fetch a car to go home and I ended up walking all the way to reach home!

I want shout out Jaylyn Burns and Sidney Adebayo as the two associates who helped me with the transaction. They were very easy to talk to and get along. They explained to me how my reservation worked and what I can do to exchange my car if I needed any accommodations. I wasnt at all swayed by any tactics to upgrade, they understood my needs and they wanted to genuinely make sure I was taken care of which was very wholesome. Comment: Have had some positive experiences but this last time our truck (Dodge Ram with 9k miles on it) had numerous issues. Check engine light would turn on and off. We read in the manual it was probably okay to drive for a bit so we thought wed make it back home. On our way back home the battery light starts flashing and the acceleration stopped working. We had to pull over every block or so to restart the car and get it to accelerate until we were able to get home. Upon contacting Enterprise, we were initially told they would charge us $55 for a pick up fee. They seemed hassled by us and Devin said to text him in the morning to remind him to come get the vehicle. Ive worked many years in customer service and this is beyond me that they would make US feel bad for getting a faulty vehicle. We didnt get to drive it on the last day and were offered no compensation for that. Unbelievable. We wont be going back to this location.

They didnt have a lot of cars on the lot but they did have the one I wanted and it was clean. Both transactions were done entirely outside which I appreciated. Enterprise left a followup voicemail with a number I could call in case I ran into trouble. That was cool. Minus 2 stars for the condescending tone from the kid who dealt with me at drop off. To be sure he was polite, knowledgeable and fast. Maybe too fast, so I politely asked for help understanding a few things he rattled off. In fact I think he was trying to be helpful but I wasnt following. He did oblige an explanation, but topped it off with Got that? I could do without the impatient sarcasm. I was still nice and left with a thank you. But a note to the owners, maybe remind the youngsters you hire that when a customer spends money at your establishment, to try to be respectful - especially if the customer is polite. Because some day I or someone else might not be as forgiving. Sick of customer service folks taking out their bad customer frustration on the wrong customers. Comment: It’s clear they are understaffed, which is an economy-wide issue, but they still did not participate in basic service to ensure a good experience. We made a reservation for a mini-van, but they gave the vehicle away right before we got there because we were late (by about an hour). However, there was nothing on the reservation about arriving within a certain time of reservation, and they did not try to reach out to us by phone. They themselves were spotty at picking up the phone, so it was unlikely we would’ve been able to reach them by phone if we tried to alert them that we were late. The reservation had made it seem like we had it fully reserved (including a billing receipt for CC). They did not seem apologetic or really try to acquire another one (although, to be fair to them, there seems to be a general shortage). They also did not offer any compensatory credit. Overall, quite disappointed in our experience, but understand that there were some potentially exceptional circumstances that may not make this a typical experience.

Wed rented a minivan but received a call the night before asking if we were flexible at all regarding the vehicle...just in case there was an issue. I said, Sure, Im just moving some boxes, some tall items, and some delicate packages, so I just need space. The next morning they gave me a Nissan Armada, which we enjoyed much more than a minivan. Plenty of space and much nicer ride. My only issue is that renting on Sat night requires Sun night also, whether one needs it not. Comment: I was unable to get my insurance-covered rental car from this location due to big miscommunications and incompetent service. The person I spoke with (Kenny) was not helpful at all when there were no more vehicles left that were within my coverage, and even after I got my insurance to change my coverage limit, Kenny said this was not reflected in their system. After more back and forth between insurance and Enterprise, it turns out they had rented every single one of their cars (which was clearly not communicated to me until later) and I was left without transportation that day. After having my car broken into, this was the last thing that I wanted to deal with. Luckily, the Broadway location was highly competent and did a perfect job helping me the next day.

Comment: I and my husband rent a car during valentines day. I have used Enterprise car rental for several years and found this place is close to us with good reviews and different car rental options. People are nice here, but unfortunately, they slightly overcharged.- there only has two doors coupe luxury car. it was too small for us. we took it anyway but its very small.- and one hour return late, they charge us an extra day rental which is 60.89$+3.540$.- we return the car with the same gas level, maybe 0.01% different, and they 16.20$ fuel service option.

Comment: The staff here was friendly and efficient. I put in a reservation online and went to pick up the vehicle the same day. We walked around the car to check for problems, glanced at the inside to check the fuel, and handed me the keys. When I got in, the car smelled like smoke pretty bad. I asked the gentleman if he could please see if there was another car I could take, even if it were a downgrade since I had a long trip ahead of me. He was very apologetic and got me in a new car quickly and without any issue. If I need another rental, I will return to this location.

Comment: I picked Enterprise because they gave me the best rate for a week than anybody else. I needed a car for at least a week because mine was being worked on after an accident. When I called and made a reservation on the phone it was really easy and the person I spoke with was friendly and made the whole process painless. I double checked before hanging up that paying with a debit card would be ok and asked if I needed to bring anything with me and she told me a debit card would be ok and no I didnt need to bring anything, just pick the car up. So I arrive to pick up the car and the gentleman who was helping me asked if I had proof of insurance with me, I told him no, I was told I didnt need to bring anything but I can pull it up on my phone he said ok and as Im doing this he decides to look at my card and payment info and then asks me if I had a credit card not debit card, I explained that i didnt have a credit card that a debit was all I had and that, again, I was told it was ok. He said ok and looked at my information further and said Im sorry it needs to be a chip card, I said I dont have a chip and, again, was told it was ok to which he said Im sorry, I cant rent to you without a chip card and cancelled my reservation. That was that, I wasnt offered any further help or suggestion. The gentleman didnt offer to speak with somebody else to see if something could be done, nothing. I then had to spend extra money to get a Lyft back home, and am back at square one with no car. I arrived at Enterprise feeling relief and hopefull, but because of some wrong information, I guess, I left feeling lost and stranded. Rate wise you guys are great and the gentleman who work at the location I was at are nice and professional, but you shouldnt cancel a reservation and leave someone stranded with no further help because they were told wrong information

Comment: I will start off by saying that all of the gentlemen that work at this location are extremely friendly and helpful, so no complaints there. My complaint has to do with the car that I rented which I ended up having to exchange. I rented an SUV and was originally given a black Nissan Rouge. Had I smelled how strong the vehicle had smelled of weed and cigarettes, I would have requested a vehicle change immediately. However, I had a mask on and couldnt smell anything.We had intended on leaving for our vacation later that night but after smelling how terrible the car smelled we couldnt leave because the smell was absolutely unbearable. I have 2 kids and one being an infant. I couldnt subject my children to the terrible smell it was almost sickening. Not to mention there was some sort of device on the passenger side of the front window. Its not legal in California to have anything on your windshield that may obstruct your view. I was worried I would be pulled over because of it. Could you imagine a African American being pulled over with a car reeking of weed with 2 kids in the car? Ya...not cool.Long story short, we couldnt leave the day we had intended on leaving because of the above. I called early the next day and requested a vehicle change. I was offered 10% which was nice but considering the situation I should have had the first day free.

Comment: I reserved a mid to large SUV. I picked up just before closing. Check out was quick and easy. Unfortunately there were two very unexpected issues with the vehicle: 1. It thoroughly reeked of cigarette smoke. Thoroughly. 2. The gas tank was only 1/4 full. This second issue wouldn’t be a big deal if they had pointed it out and told me how to address it, i.e. return it with a quarter tank. I tried to exchange it with two other local branches, but neither had a vehicle that would suit my needs (space for camping equipment)The vehicle itself drove beautifully. It was a Nissan rogue. It fit all of our camping equipment for a family of 3. I took it to coastal Oregon and back, including on some gnarly dirt roads.Heavy, daily use of Fabreeze gave us just enough relief to get through the vacation with this vehicle.I returned the vehicle with more gas than I had started out with. I mentioned this fact in the extreme cigarette smell to the returning agent. After checking the vehicle he agreed that they probably would not be able to rent the vehicle out again. He did give me a break on the price by way of apology.

Comment: I never post reviews but these folks are so great I had to! I really love the small location near Ashby Bart, but its closed due to Covid. Over the past year I have had experiences with this branch on San Pablo ave. and the one up in Hilltop Mall (Richmond CA). All 3 of these spots Id give 5 stars. Enterprise rocks - they treat you with respect, professionalism, and courtesy, they dont try to stick you with hidden fees or rip you off, and theyre flexible if you need to return it later or earlier than you thought. Their base cost *is* a little higher than Budget or Hertz but when you take into account that those places nickel and dime you on little extra fees and hustle you in the process and just generally treat you like dirt, Id take Enterprise over those fools any day, and I end up paying less too. I have never had a bad experience with any of the Enterprise employees, they make it EASY and even have a sense of humor - imagine that! Thanks :)

Started our trip from Hayward then about around Emeryville/Berkeley the tire pressure monitors on the truck came on and they were seriously under inflated. Without panicking I conveniently pull of at the nearest gas station in Berkeley, pumped air to all the tires to the recommended pressure. Still, no go with the monitors, still showing under inflated tires. Decided I wasn’t gonna go to Reno with me just staring at it the whole way. Google’d the nearest Enterprise and waited about 10 mins for it to open.Mel, the young woman that greeted us was all smiles from start. Told her the situation, and in about 10 mins time we were out of there and back on the road, seriously the most stress-free service ever experienced. Wow! Not only that she swapped out this nasty F-150 the other location did a piss-poor cleaning job on, because of the weed I found in the center console they forgot to clean, but it was Dodge Ram Classic 5.7 Hemi. However their billing and reservations need work. This last time I needed and reserved a large truck, but they only had a small truck and gave me no notice. And when the invoice arrived they had still charged for a large truck and charged for an additional day because they did not get the vehicle check in when I returned it. This is not an unusual occurrence as we frequently have billing issues with them.

I was grilled about everything from my finances to where I live. I was told that I needed to bring utility bills to prove my address, although I have lived there for over 12 years. Great pick up in Albany up and drop off at Berkeley Bart. Car was an Elantra with 29K. Not pristine...stains on the seats but mechanically worked well and drove well..we had it for a month. Used a Costco discount. The guy we checked out with was great. I watched him deal with a couple of other customers and over heard two phone call inquiries and he handled them all very professionally as he did us. He tried to find discounts for the callers and switched out cars for one customer. He keep everyone posted as to times and progress and seemed unflappable. Hope he stays with them. He was one of the better Enterprise reps Ive had. I think his name was Steve and that the went to Sacramento State...so if enterprise reads this give him a pat on the back. I rent from enterprise due to the customer service. They were higher on this rental than hertz but their customer service makes it a no brainer.

Comment: Besides the fact that Enterprise is extremely overpriced, the staff is super nice, willing to do anything to make you satisfied. Ive actually never seen such a professional and helpful attitude before.In my experience, I did an online reservation. When I picked the car up, the gas tank was nearly empty, and the windscreen washer fluid wasnt replenished. Also at the dealership, I found out that the already high price didnt even include the additional insurance coverage. After adding that, it made the cost 2 times higher than the price of their competition (Avis, hertz,...).The car was quite new (just 7 000 miles) and more or less clean.Afterwards, I returned the car with nearly a full tank of gas (instead of the original empty tank) as I had to cancel a part of my trip and didnt use all the gas as I planed.They asked if I was satisfied, they took my criticism and offered to give me a discount and refund me for the extra fuel. I came there angry and was leaving in a positive mood. It was a very pro-customer oriented attitude. I guess the extra high cost is paid for the customer oriented approach. If its worth the high price, thats what everyone has to figure out for themselves.

While the car functioned well and the check-in was smooth, the check-out process was a headache.We made a reservation online prior to the rental. When I arrived to pick up the car, the dates of the reservation were incorrect; the price given was $300 higher than what was quoted in the reservation (it took multiple exchanges for them to match the price on our online reservation); our information was lost between the desk and the lot, and so the type of car and price were incorrect again; and, the second drivers name was incorrectly listed on the receipt (though when we pointed this out, we were immediately issued a second receipt with the correct name).Throughout, the staff were friendly and polite, though the number of errors makes me uneasy about using this rental service again.

Last year I rented a minivan for a school trip and one of the seats was broken. This year I tried to do the same, but when I got there the minivan Id reserved a month in advance had broken down and wasnt available. They gave me a Ford Explorer instead, and offered me a 15% discount for my troubles. Very nice... Except...The Explorer REEKED. The previous renters had obviously smoked a bunch of weed in the car, and instead of properly cleaning it the maintenance crew had used a massive amount of bubble-gum scented air freshener. My kids had to have the windows rolled down at 4:00 am driving down highway 5 because the car stank so much.I turned the car in, and they tried to charge me for 5 days instead of 4. When I complained about the smell as I was correcting that, they said theyd add another 15% discount, but the total bill had only one of the two discounts applied.So, wrong car, stinky car, near-empty tank, trying to charge me for an extra day, and failure to properly apply discounts. I really cant say that they did even a decent job on this one.EDIT: In all fairness, they WERE desperately trying to find me a new minivan when the one Id ordered wasnt ready. But as the estimated time went from 2 to 2:30 to 3:00 plus a ride into Oakland to go get it, I figured airing out the SUV was the better option. Oh, how wrong I was!

Comment: I have used my neighborhood Enterprise for years when driving to Oregon and LA. This time we had a big trip to Utah in winter. I was concerned about snow and safety. I wanted a car with snow tires and 4 wheel drive. My local Enterprise is a small operation, and I didnt want to drive to the airport for more selection. I reserved well in advance and as always the team there was so polite and professional. I shared my concerns and they told me they would make sure I got an appropriate car for my needs. Initially I talked to Aleah, who urged me to check in a few days before the trip to confirm my specific needs.. So I spoke with Alberto who made further notes in my order and reassured me they would take care of me. Finally on the day I would pick up my car, I spoke to Luis, in charge of vehicle acquisitions, and he assured me he would have the perfect car for me. When I arrived at my neighborhood Enterprise, I had a brand new SUV with snow tires and 4 wheel drive--still with NY license plates! Had to wait about half an hour at home for pickup to go get the vehicle - no problem. Electronic paperwork was quick and easy. No hassle at all over using the insurance provided on my credit card. Got a thorough introduction to the features and controls of the vehicle (Chevy Suburban). Car was clean, handled well, everything worked. After-hours return was quick and easy: drop the keys in the slot. Then the next morning I got an email confirming the charges. Everyone was not only professional and knowledgeable, but genuinely friendly, and not smarmy. It was the best experience I ever had renting a car.

Comment: Staff is friendly but cars not always ready for rental. I recently reserved an economy car but, when I arrived to pick it up I was told it had been taken out of service. My service rep offered me a standard car at the same price - fine. However the car offered was dirty outside and inside (someone had kept a dog inside the car for an extended period dog smell, dog hair, dog food, who knows what else) and of course the gas tank was half empty. This really was the only choice available to me I accepted reluctantly due to time constraints. It is a shame as this location is convenient for me and the staff really are friendly although perhaps not the most effective. RA #: 8S7BB9

Comment: I have rented with this location several times and the staff are always friendly and efficient. However, twice now I have been given very dirty cars. There were crumbs and debris on the dashboard and cup holders and big gross stains on the seats. It was clear each time that the car had not been cleaned since it was last used. Its a convenient location for me, but Im not sure I will be back after the crime scene that was the back seat of the last car I rented.

Comment: Staff at San Pablo Ave office in Berkeley pickup were terrific, as were the people at San Francisco Airport drop off. Car was clean and carefree. I suggest that for people wanting to drop off car at the that airport, Enterprise provide written instructions that allow the driver to negotiate the maze of turns and side roads that can be confusing to someone even when using Google maps on a cell phone, especially at night.

Comment: Definitely my go to place for Rent-A-Cars whenever I leave my car at Griffin Motorwerkes to get repaired.Ive rented from them a few times my most recent event where I needed a car they didnt have a full-size available they informed me that I could come back an check after lunch hour when the fleet would possibly be updated with more cars as an option...Most rental places dont inform you of that kind a choice they just tell you to take it or leave it this is all we have Available or suggest to check the airport...

Called on Saturday morning they said it was still available.Went straight there and now they said they seem to have nothing but really expensive cars left. I had to find a ride home, and was not able to get a car until the following Monday,and of course had to find a ride on a Monday morning.FUN

Comment: I love Enterprise and will continue to use their services, I was just unhappy with my last rental from the Berkeley office.-The car was pretty dirty when I picked it up (nasty stuff on the inside of the door, trash in the center console, smudge marks everywhere, etc.).-The windshield was not only dirty, it had a strange film on it that made it very difficult to see when it was raining out. Hard to explain, but it was not safe.-When I picked it up and drove it off the lot I was surprised to see that there was less than a quarter tank of gas in the car.-I rented an intermediate sized car hoping for some more comfort, but the car really didnt operate well at all. There were problems with the accelerator and the brakes, which made driving trickier.Ive certainly had much better rentals through Enterprise, this was the worst one Ive had. Im not sure why they decided to rent this particular vehicle, in my opinion it should have been pulled aside for service and properly cleaned.Id caution renters to check the gas level and the cleanliness of the vehicle before driving off from this location, although I dont know how youd address the functionality of the vehicle.

Comment: Unbelievable how rude every single staff member at this location was. We arrived right before our reservation time, only to find the place locked. The staff completely tore us apart, saying that arriving at 11:30 for a 12pm pickup was assholish. Other customers arrived after us and were totally turned away, yelled at and cursed at behind their back. To the staff: if you lock the door at 11:50 and feel the need to treat your clientele like garbage, please dont accept car reservations for 12. Its unprofessional and just plain gross.

Comment: Worst experience ever!!! At first I thought this was going to be a wonderful experience because my salesperson Ashley was a kind honest person. Also the other employees in the office were kind and warm. But I Would give 0 star if I could now that I know how this business is really ran. Hold on tightly to your contract! Krystal will pretend to be nice and helpful at first only to overcharge you and you have to correct her with proof of what you actually paid for! I took out a total of 2 rentals back to back due to an insurance claim. Krystal lied and told me my insurance company said I could no longer use their discount, meaning I would have to pay market rate, and that ended up being a lie because my insurance company said anytime it is through the insurance company, it is completely up to Enterprise if they want to keep allowing you to use an insurance company discount rate. Also, Krystal not only overcharged me for my rental claiming to lose my contract(conveniently when I told her I misplaced my copy in the last rental), she was also rude to me and even called me to threaten me about a rental I had. Keep in mind she knew I had a longer term rental through an insurance company, and when I came in she did not even say hello to me or offer to extend my rental. It was sad that she at first charged me 4.50 for gas reimbursement until I proved otherwise using my contract from a current rental. Krystal charged me an extensive amount of money for insurance she claims I took out on the rental yet she was unwilling to explain the extra charges written on the receipt. Well, we will see what will happen because I have now found my misplaced contract and I didnt even take out the insurance that she charged me for! Also the 2.50 she insisted was the price of my gas was only $2.25. I will see what this crook has to say once she sees it in writing. For the record I will never rent from or advise anyone to rent from these people again. If you have to rent from them, hold tightly to your contract, and plead for explanations about final charges on your receipt. DO NOT TAKE THEIR WORD FOR IT-THEY WILL OVERCHARGE YOU ON THE SLIGHTEST THING IF YOU ARE NOT PAYING ATTENTION. I will not be surprised if someone pulls together a class action lawsuit on these people. Its only a matter of time. I can promise that If my car ever has to be in the shop again I will go with another company or just get on bus and Bart until the car gets out. Done!

Comment: This Enterprise office is fantastic! I had been renting from Hertz just down the road, and the customer service is like night vs. day. Hertz on San Pablo is the worst rental experience I have ever had (repeatedly). But my company made me use them. I am now using Enterprise and loving it. They have let me choose my car the last two times. Their service has been prompt, professional, and friendly. And the bills are always accurate. If you live in Albany or Berkeley, do yourself a favor and switch from Hertz to Enterprise.

Comment: Rented from them recently (summer 2024). I booked late (12 hours prior to rental) for a last minute trip to San Jose, and they accommodated me the best they could. I asked for a compact size sedan, but due to low stock that day and some cars with lingering cigarette smell inside, the service rep Tony was kind enough to offer me a clean truck to keep me from more waiting. Tony was very friendly. I would recommend renting from here and will do it again.
