This is the best city park on Detroits East Side, hands down. The half closer to Jefferson is beautifully landscaped and free of litter. There is a playground, basketball court, numerous benches and a bathroom. The flowers look pretty from the start of spring to the end of fall!There is a parking area in the back of the park and you can get a good view of the sunset from there. Its busier in the back of the park by the river.
The people down and have their own little section and area when you pull up make sure you stay in your own little area because some of the people have been coming down there for years I noticed its a lot of African Americans down there which is the beat expected but just stay in your own lane 👍

Best Park to hoop at on the east side. Every who goes to this park got love for the game like we family. Also there is a bathroom, play ground, and boat docks. Also there barely any drama
I Love this park its beautiful but one thing I dislike is that people dont know how to use trash cans because its trash all over the park thats the only downside but I would go here again to watch the water
Ive been going there for years. You have to get there early now that Belle Island has a cover charge. Be gone by 10pm the police aint no joke. Over all nice park.
The scenery here is lovely. Has a park for the kids. The park is new the Detroit River so its beautiful. The view of the marina and seeing Canada across the river is awesome, especially once it gets dark. Nice Park.
I enjoy the water at the end of the park. You can see the boat races for free. People usually fish there all summer long. Relaxing and bug free.
Could be a wonderful place to chill if the citizens would just use the cans for their trash away. However, visit early morning if you wish to sit for a while to take in peace of mind.
Beautiful sundial and nice riverside park
Nice, clean park with enough amenities to be useful and fun, but not so many that it gets confusing or overwhelming.Also used as the Blue Lot parking area for the DGPA volunteers on Grand Prix weekend, so avoid it the weekend after Memorial Day if all you want is a nice calm day with the family.If youre parking there that weekend, bring your 4x4 or at least something with a higher ground clearance to get over the curbs. If it rains, you WILL need a tow if you dont have at least a 4x2 or AWD.
I do work here all the time on the boats that is a very good place to bring your boat and jacket and set off for a very good ride in the lake the part is very well maintained in the services are great take heat the place squeaky clean and it is a great place to bring your friends and family I suggest you bring your family here this is the best place in the world to enjoy yourself and have fun
Laid back place where mature Black folk hang out and enjoy the river. Gentrification hasnt claimed this place yet.

The concrete at the river front locations, and some areas of the walkway need to be repaired. When it rains three is flooding. Otherwise if is a beautiful park. Needs some maintenance.
Would give it five Stars if the public rest room was acceptible and there a few more activities more for the kids under the age of, lets say 10 and a few more picnic tables for families convenience.
Had a meeting just west of Erma Henderson actually on the West side of the park under a beautiful shade tree just above the river the breeze was Awesome and clean and spacious
Mostly a large expanse of grass that is circled by a walking path. Offers nice views of the river and Belle Isle. Try visiting in the winter for a different aspect of the river. Ice floes and overwintering shorebirds.New playground. Basketball court with streetball most summer evenings. PokemonGo gym. Closed but Historic Whittier Hotel overlooks the park.
Serene Safe Detroit Park
Nice open park with nice trees and view on the river. There was however a lot of trash thrown around in places and the riverfront has been flooded all season.
Every time I go there I enjoy it I love the birds the scenery and peaceful
I like it because I get a great view of the River and you can walk close to water. The parking lot needs repaving. Go slow 😕
Nice park, need cleaner bathroom facilities. Bathrooms were horrible. A good park for cook outs, not fireworks. The view was not good by the water.

Its a nice park but there needs to be a curfew because there are people who live near and the noise after ten is unfair to working people.
The city does no maintenance on this park at all.

I love this place I just hate it closes at 10 pm...I like to see the sunrise sometimes over the water!!!

2022-05-29Wonderful experience every time I go! My grandchildren love the park and basketball court! The flowers are very beautiful!Just left the park on May 29th and the grass wasnt cut. There was people in riding lawn mowers but they were just cutting the grass across from the Whittier!

2021-09-27I live next to the Erma Henderson Marina, and Park. The city finally started working on the park. But, they have blocked the citizens from enjoying it with fences. They have not put the rail back up in front of the river. And, they have left heavy equipment there, that has been sitting there for at least 2 months.. The marina they have left destroyed by neglect. Im very disappointed in the city for moving the boaters that have been at the marina be moved to river side maina. I think the city is about to sell, or give away more precious riverfront land. Just like the water department took over the parking lot off the park next the Mayors Mansion

2021-06-20It was so quite and relaxing DPD was there so, i felt safe, the families was celebrating Fathers Day playing music eating walking the river felt so, good i wanted to go to sleep there next time i will have my blanket 👍.
