We have been taking piano lessons at Expressions for 2 years. Mr.Jake is a good teacher . He explains things clearly and doesn’t hesitate to go over and over . The front desk staff Nicole is professional and very helpful whether it’s last minute schedule changes or technical difficulties.
It has been a great experience with Expressions Music Academy so far. The virtual links and lessons are sent prior to the class. If the timing doesn’t work the staff immediately helps in changing the time.Overall a great experience and I would highly recommend. I have opted for piano and Miranda has been so accomodating and skillful in teaching my 6 year old.
Jake is a very good piano teacher. He takes time to make sure that you understand the material that youre going over and the best part is that they tailor it to your skill level. I already knew how to read music a little bit and have messed around with a keyboard and a guitar for some years and after the first lesson he knew the direction to go in for our lessons.I would definitely recommend that anyone take a class with him.
My 11 year old daughter really enjoys working with her voice teacher, Erika. She likes that she gives constructive criticism that is helpful and actionable. We especially appreciate the work Erika has done creating video projects for her students to participate in during the lockdown. I’ve always found all of the teachers and staff at Expressions to be friendly, easy to work with, and excited to see my daughter grow as a musician. I’m really pleased with the progress she has made at Expressions.
Strongly recommend!!!I enjoy the welcoming atmosphere of the staff and facilities for learning music at all of the Expression Music Academy (EMA) locations. As a working adult, I appreciate the EMA cellphone app of organized schedules for lessons, cancellation/make-ups, and recital booking. Text or email notifications are sent as reminders of your scheduled lesson. I have been attending since February 2019 taking both voice and piano lessons. Yes, music lessons are best when you start young, but at EMA I feel at ease to rekindle the spirit of making music as an adult. As the saying goes, ... better late, than never. A shout out to my music teacher, Miranda, thanks for your patience and encouragement. With young music students before and after my scheduled lesson, she quickly adjusts to an adult level for me without losing the same enthusiasm for music she demonstrates to the youth. It is infectious. You start to believe in yourself and that you can achieve your next assigned goal to complete your lesson. I recommend Expression Music Academy for all ages. I had great experience with Expressions Music Academy. It was easy to schedule lessons and get answers to my questions. The staff is amazing! My grandson was taking piano lessons and loved his teacher who made lessons educational and fun. I will recommend Expressions Music Academy to all my friends!
Expressions Music Academy is great! They have the best customer service! The front desk staff is always friendly and ready to help. I love the flexible timings they provide for lessons and the easy to use make-ups if you miss a lesson!
This facility is amazing. I have 2 kids that take lessons here. The instructors are awesome. My daughter, who has been playing piano for about one year, was just at a competition and won first place and a AAA award. I recommend Expressions to everyone.Laura G.

I took piano lessons here this past summer and had an excellent time. The teacher was patient with me and was very honest with feedback, which was amazing! The facility is super clean and the staff is always eager to help with any problems. Will definitely come back soon!
Cant say enough good things about this place! In addition to being a wonderful music academy, the staff and teachers are amazing. They are professional, friendly, and patiently helpful. Expressions music Academy is the best when it comes to music.All staffs, especially my daughters teacher is so caring and easy to go with teacher. My kid is always excited to go for her classes :-)
I can already feel and hear a difference in my singing quality and breath support after a month of lessons with Jim. Hes shown me techniques that seem small in practice, but when put together make my voice sound so much smoother and stronger. Im hitting higher notes without sounding reedy, feel more confident, and trust him to help me make my voice the best it can be. Lessons wont change your actual voice, but definitely improves the quality of the voice you have.
I learned a lot from Expressions Music Academy. The drum teacher David is very patient, helpful and professional. If anyone want to learn to play drum even from the beginning, David is definitely the one you should look for.
Ive been an adult student at Expressions for two years. After several years of running all over town to may schools/studios for lessons, Im happy to have found a place that offers me everything I need: attentive instructors, performance opportunities, and even a recording studio.
This facility is amazing. The instructors are awesome and friendly. My daughter takes lessons here and she is very much excited to go to each class every week.

This place was great! Front desk staff was so friendly and helpful! They really heard my needs and wants and helped me find the best teacher for my goals! The place is so nice! They even offer FREE COFFEE AND WIFI!!! Couldnt recommend it more!!

2021-12-14Both of my children have been taking piano lessons at Expressions in Rochester for over a year. We started virtually during Covid and have transitioned to in person. The instructors, George and Julia, are wonderful, they have met my children at their level. My children go at the same time with different instructors (so convenient for me).They have great communication both verbally and also weekly emails listing practice expectations for the week.Expressions hosts recitals that allow the students to show off their skills. I look forward to watching them continue to grow musically.

2021-12-13I have worked at Expressions Music Academy for more than two years and I absolutely LOVE my job! The staff at EMA are so incredibly helpful and supportive and they truly make me a better teacher than I could ever be without them. They take care of all of the administrative tasks, recitals, etc. so that I can focus solely on teaching my students. In addition, everyone is so friendly and kind. I always look forward to go to work on the days I teach at EMA because of the awesome staff, but also because I get to teach some fantastic students!If you are looking for a great school to take private music lessons, I could not recommend a better school than EMA. If you are a music teacher looking for a teaching job, EMA is the perfect company to start a new job!

2021-12-13My kid is going to Expressions Music Academy since he was 4+. He loved it and learning so much. Teachers are awesome, very patient and staff is just amazing! We love that they introduce kids to 10 different instruments and then later child can pick which one they want to learn. They teach the basic of music how to read, write music. LOVE it!!

2021-11-17Hui-Yi was very patient and supportive. My daughter can be shy, but she felt comfortable with her. Im happy to say our lessons with Expressions paid off, because my daughters school Orchestra teacher noticed a huge improvement!

2021-06-11Learning music can be really intimidating for newbies of any age, especially when starting off as an adult. From day one everyone was exceptionally welcoming and patient, plus having a teacher familiar with adult curriculum made the lessons that much simpler. David is always cheerful, patient, and is attentive to how all of his students learn differently. Hes not afraid to give his students a challenge but knows when to step in to guide form or give feedback, and is so good at explaining any written musical notation. JENN IS SUCH A SWEETHEART! I have come to enjoy my weekly hobby of learning drums, and I genuinely enjoy every lesson. Great people make the greatest mentors, and the staff here make it an even greater experience. I would need an open sky to be able to give them more stars haha. So whether youre 10 years old or 82 years old, youll soon come to feel like family here. :)

2021-03-26Expressions is an amazing studio! Taking guitar and voice lessons with Expressions has been the best thing for two of my children. The staff are all professional and enthusiastic. Communication is so easy - you will get a response within an hour if you email or text the studio. I also highly recommend Julia Donaven as a voice teacher. She really wants my child to get better, she is invested in every lesson, and she prepares well. She challenges my child, but my child also considers Julia a friend. 10/10 for Julia and Expressions!

2020-07-15This music studio is awesome. They are welcoming to all age groups...Im a mature female taking drum lessons. In the beginning before I made the purchase of a full drum set they offered the music academy as a place I could practice, which provided me the confidence to continue my new music aspiration. During the pandemic they quickly set us up with weekly zoom lessons. My instructor, David is fantastic! He motivates me to grow, encourages me when I feel challenged and holds me accountable with new weekly lessons. I highly recommend Expressions Music Academy.
