Extended Stay America - Detroit - Canton in Canton
Extended Stay America - Detroit - Canton in other cities:
I gave it 4 stars because there are literally no dishes in our room at all. I lived at the extended stay in ann arbor before and they had everything in the room we needed. There is pans, pot, silverware, plates, bowls or cups. We drove up here from miami thinking we would stay here because it has everything but we were wrong. Other than that it is very clean here, staff are very nice, good coffee, clean outside, not noisy at all.
Hotel was okay for the price. However, the room had a very pungent, unpleasant smell like chemicals or cleaner. The table in the rooms leg was broken. Went to use the phone and it wasnt even plugged in to the phone jack. We called down to the front desk to ask for extra blankets because there were only a few very thin ones on the bed, but was told they had none. The floors were hardwood, not carpet which made it feel less comfortable. No hairdryer.
Checked out of our room because we found a bed bug in our room. The room wasn’t that clean when we got there I had to wipe the whole room down and use my own vacuum also. Very unhappy. The housekeepers really need to learn how to clean rooms and the lead housekeeper needs to learn how to check the quality of the rooms. I worked in housekeeping and this room was not up to quality standards at all.
This hotel is filthy and feels unsafe. The hallways, staircase and lobby smells like weed. The ground around the out side of the hotel have trash and cigarette butts everywhere. The rooms are ok. The bathroom didnt look like it was clean. I do not recommend this hotel.
The power went out. Elevator, air conditioner and tv didnt work. The refrigerator didnt work at all. I lost food because of it. Freezer worked great. When I first got there I had to wait 1and a half hours to go to my room because it wasnt cleaned. There were no wash cloths or hand towels. You need to bring your own hair conditioner cause they dont supply any. No cups whatsoever. I was very disappointed. I will find another hotel in the future.
Staff was very friendly and kind. The front office was well kept. The room, on the other hand was in rough shape. It was clean, but the refrigerator was old and rusty, toilet was wobbly, and furniture was run down. The carpeting also needed replacing. I would recommend a full remodel of the rooms. Otherwise, I would not recommend it to a friend - except again for the staff - they were very pleasant.
WiFi was good, beds comfortable, kitchenette makes extended stay possible and cooking your own food possible for budget or dietary reasons, if needed. I was only there for 2 nights, so housekeeping was not in the deal. I made my own bed and cleaned up after myself. I asked for and received plates and utensils to cook leftovers from a restaurant meal in the kitchenette. I didnt take advantage of the breakfast said to be offered daily. I didnt see it on the sideboard the first day and left too early the second morning for it to be set out. I was told that it was snack and muffin type fare, grab and go. No business office for doing airport check in and printing of boarding pass. Clean and friendly and accommodating of requests.
I have been staying here since Jan 20, Regards to housekeeping all i noticed is just changing towels, not cleaning the washrooms, I can still see the stains. With respect to Kitchen, first week i requested for utensils, i have been told not available as people are stealing and they took my room number to intimate me. After 8 6 weeks when i reach them, i was surprised to hear you should call everyday to check if we have available for you. I have choose this place because i stayed DTW Extended stay and liked the kitchen and service. But now i am disappointed. Not keeping Bath soaps, Shower gel, Sometimes no toilet Tissues.. Every time you have to run to front desk. Very disappointed...
Checked in to a room with a king sized bed. Went into the bathroom and the toilet seat had menstruation blood and on it! There was also debris all on the floor. When I contacted the front desk, their only option was to move me into a smaller room. I asked to speak to a manager and they said one wasn’t available but they would be there when I check out in the morning. The next morning, I went to the front desk only to be told that no manager was scheduled to work during that time. They took my number down saying they would call me back to rectify the issue but they never did. Do not stay at this hotel.
Outstanding! management and staff are great! always kind, generous, and helpful! if been here about a month now and I love it! kitchen is perfect, and the manager is amazing as well as her staff! always making you feel welcome! I couldnt be happier, plis they are currently upgrading there accommodations and amenities and it just keeps getting better! Thank you Angela for being so kind and generous I cant thank you enough for your time and kindness! -Sarah👍👍
This place is beautiful. Clean and quiet. The staff however is horrible, wildy rude, and not helpful at all! The day manager argued that wed never paid for our dog and that no one had seen us walk in with the dog. When we asked how when we checked in with her, she got an attitude, and began to yell. They never brought us the dishes that where supposed to be in the room. I think this would be a great hotel, if they made some changes in staff who run the lobby.
Staff very impatient and rude.. they do anything and everything to get what they want from you. They will walk right into your room if you do not answer their knocks immediately. They come around 7-8 am. My boyfriend works overnights and he kept getting woken up.. the TVs automatically turn off after a few hours.. no warning. The front desk will constantly change the price of the room every time you try to pay for your room.. the night staff will give you a whole different rate than the day staff.. the breakfast is prepackaged, small muffins.. people smoke in the foyers.. The only housekeeping you get is they come by once a week offering you four towels.. they never offer to change your sheets even if you stay 2+ weeks ..The bathrooms are nice however for the price and the shower stays hot... The room comes clean though the floor isnt carpeted so gets dirty quickly. And they have full size fridges and small, 2 burner stoves...They did allow us a lot extra time to get our stuff out, but they definitely do not care if youre a struggling family and they dont work with you much...
Our room was clean, the showers were hot, and the staff was friendly. I chose this hotel for its proximity to local friends and its pet policy - I have medium/large sized dogs. I would stay here again.Edited to add: the staff has been so great that I added another star.
Very cheap hotel but...Not very clean. The whole hotel was smelling strongly, also my room. The towels were smelling disgusting...The breakfast is consisting of coffee, porridge, muffins and corn bars. The staff is really friendly and helpful! All in all more or less ok because of the low price during a long stay...
Priceline rates this as a 2.5 star hotel. I would say it was more like a 2 star. Place to lay your head for cheap and it is in a good area. Rooms are very basic - no toiletries, kind of musky smelling. Breakfast is a joke and when I went down to see what was offered a very heavyset woman was standing over the counter leaning on it and coughing. If you just need a place to sleep for the night, it is ok ...other than that dont expect much.
When your room is supposed to be non-smoking, but it smells so bad that we couldnt even stay in there for more than 10 min. It was so bad, we left to stay at the Hampton Inn next door. When we tried to see if they could do something about the room they said they were completely booked and that we could go to another Extended Stay if we wanted. Mind you, we got there at 1am from our flight and we had a really sleepy toddler. The pictures show that we had a non-smoking room and the windows were open when we got there so they knew it smelled of smoke, yet they still tried to pass it off like it was a clean room.
The front door to the hotel seemed like a side door. The woman at the front desk was very nice. I was very let down when she told me their continental breakfast consisted of oatmeal, muffins, granola bars, coffee, and tea. I purposely booked a hotel with a continental breakfast and was expecting something similar to other hotels in the same price range such as fruit, yogurt, cereal, waffles, bagels, eggs, bacon, juice, coffee ect. When we got into our room we noticed the microwave had food crusted inside of it and it looked dirty on the outside. The shower looked dirty so I decided not to shower. The queen sized bed had 3 pillows instead of 4 and was very squeaky. Every movement or roll over made the bed squeak.
Rooms were not throughly cleaned. My desk chair, desks, and floor were full of some alarming sticky substance. It was Advertised that we had a kitchen full of amenities, coffee maker, pots, pans, silver, etc, which it came with none of. “Complimentary breakfast” only had coffee, granola bars and oatmeal by the time we arrived at 8am (when it’s supposed to go until 9:30.) Very disappointed I wasted my money and time here.
Our stay here has been amazing... The staff are very friendly Chevon at front desk is very sweet , her communication skills towards customers are great ! The rooms here are very convenient especially when you are here with a husband and two children . There is a kitchen sink , full size refrigerator and a small stove and a microwave, they also provide any pots/pans etc, also plenty of cabinet space for groceries as well . They have washers /dryers and they always make sure you have towels /wash clothes and toiletries and you get room service once a week . It is also convenient that on each floor there is a place to take any boxes or trash . There are plenty of restaurants near by that deliver as well which is nice when it’s 20 degrees out . The house cleaning is very nice and a big help and I see they work hard here to keep the place clean , also Ms Angela is very sweet ! I’m sure our next stay will be at extended stay America as well and I highly recommend it and it’s affordable.
I got to the hotel after making a reservation and couldnt even get a wrong. I have to go next door and stay overnight. I do have to say that the general manager did accommodate me for the trouble. However if you make a reservation for 30 days you have to keep it or else youll be taxed at a higher rate and have to pay more money. That was never explained to me on the reservation line nor during my stay until I needed to change my reservation for less amount of time. The hotel was okay in terms of cleanliness. I didnt see any bugs or have any off smells or anything like that. But it could have been better. If you can afford to stay somewhere else for an extended period Of time, do so. If not this particular Hotel could be satisfactory. One of the good things is that if you sign up with him you will get coupons for up to 30 or 40% off the daily rate or rate for your stay. The other thing that they dont tell you is that if you stay 30 days and more all the taxes are waived. Those are the perks. And, you can cook if you want to. I just chose not to.
The facility was clean and affordable and since we were displaced due to a flood we decided to stay. The staff was friendly but overall no one is policing the hotel. 1st floor hallway smelled like pot on multiple occasions. I personally witnessed drug deals in the parking lot and people are constantly wandering around the lot at all hours of the night. It made us so uncomfortable we checked out early after a particularly shady encounter with one of the other guests. If you have kids, stay away. As a matter of fact I wouldnt recommend it for any one.
It is ok for a hotel of this type. Personally I prefer the competition. The hotel room I had was listed non smoking but stank to high heaven of smoke and had staining on white appliances. You must ask for utensils and they take a while to get so ask ahead of time. They clean once a week so keep that in mind. Other than that mediocre at best.
The room looked like it hadnt been vacuumed. The light switch plate was broken. You could see the wires. The piece was on the floor. Than the toilet clogged. Instead of sending someone over I was given a plunger to do it my self. The good part was they moved us to a different room after I couldnt unclog it.
Great customer service, nice clean room. Ive stayed at extended stay hotels all around the country, and this location lives up to my high expectations. The only negative I can think of is that the hallway smells a little funny on the 3rd floor. Other than that, wonderful property and very scenic.
The smell was horrible, the halls very noisy, in the middle of the night someone was trying to get in our room twice and when we called the front desk they said it’s the previous people that stayed there they think they forgot something in the room, and then he just hangs up, how am I supposed to feel safe after this I had no sleep when I woke up I left as early as possible.
I was waiting to move into a new apartment. I needed a place to stay that was priced right clean and efficient. It also had to have a full size refrigerator and freezer. It did. The staff is friendly and I got everything I expected. I will look for them again in the future.
The rooms are bearable, but the carpet in hallways are filthy dirty on third floor and you just may loose your dinner due to foul smell it has, also the musty smell due to no a/c in hallways isnt helping either. They also have no regard to ringing phone calls and front desk customers when theyre on break. Id classify this hotel a 1 on 5 star scale. Or high end roach motel. Their elevator a actually work, but youre better off using the stairs since the elevator is really slow. Tiny Tube TV in room is few decades old.
They are NOT ACCOMPANING AT ALL . Been in this hotel (different rooms )Rooms always has been clean upon entering but you hve to damn near beg for once a week room service. Nva have no dishes available. Always have a excuse when ask ANYTHING the soccer ppl Came in and people like me who pay by day for 90+days wasnt made aware do had tto pack my room more over to Southfield they rushed me out the room (2nd floor )only for the elevator to be out . I asked the front desk now what can we doni have a lot of things also walk with a limp only to be told I have no clue nor no suggestions but leave the room the housekeeper needs to get in there Wow ! They over worked and treat people like TRASH
Awful! The rooms are small you pay over $100 for a little tiny room they have no amenities no free breakfast you might as well go stay somewhere else and Canton that has cheaper rooms free breakfast and amenities. The sad part about it is their 2 bed rooms the beds cant even sleep two people on them! They say that theyre full size but they look like twin my 16 year old and 12 year old cant fit on a bed together but yet they dont even have roll away cots. Theyre supposed to be cheaper for when you have an extended stay and its the same price for the whole week as it is a per night! What a joke and I stay at a lot of hotels...
The location was conveniently located off the highway and was easily accessible to downtown Detroit within 15 minutes. I booked the room through a third party app Hotwire for about $20 less than the hotels advertised rate. Parking is free, self service laundry was available for $2.00/load, and the rooms have full kitchens for cooking. Hotwire advertised that breakfast was included which was a factor in deciding to stay there. I was disappointed to find that breakfast was grab and go - coffee, granola bars, and packets of oatmeal. That was it. It was not even a continental breakfast. The room was adequate 2.5 star fare. The beds were comfortable, the bathroom was small, and the room we were in had a sour smell to it. The toilet also didnt work and had to be repaired the morning we were checking out. Obviously a big inconvenience. The hotel staff was courteous and offered a coupon for a free night at any Extended Stay in the next 12 months. I would have preferred a discount on the stay but thats what they offered. Hotwire offered no assistance in the matter other than referring us back to the hotel. All in all Extended Stay is no frills hotel if youre on the move and looking to catch some sleep or youre a business traveler who needs a kitchen and laundry service access.
Lovely staff, not super modern, but clean rooms, breakfast. Over all realy good hotel. The only thing that realy lets it down is total garbage internet. Even with high speed upgrade it will not go over 5Mbps which is a disaster and in peak times u will not even be able to watch youtube in better resolution then 480p without it freezing all the time.
The best extended stay hotel in the Detroit Michigan area. Friendly local staff are always helpful to get you what you would expect from local Michigan communities service organizations. Facility is located just off a well maintained frontage road. The facilities ground support team building event most evenings. Great location for lodging your building service staff during extended length projects at local industrial customers.
I am completely and utterly disappointed in my entire experience with this Hotel, and I wouldnt book here again if it was the last place on earth! First, we get to this destination and I kept getting an error when they ran my card, saying, unsupported card. I am perplexed as to why when I KNOW the money is there. Angela Green, the General Manager was present, and was rude, unsympathetic, uncouth, and laced professionalism (in MY opinion). Angela Green was being assertive while explaining they dont take debit cards, and that they had a sign in the lobby indicating that.Well, hello? I drove her from out of town with rooms ALREADY reserved with the SAME card I was trying to use, how is a sign beneficial to me?! Moreover, I booked these rooms with a representative, I did not go through a third-party, and not once did they mention I had to have a credit card, and not debit. I had two kids with me that were getting irritated, it was raining, they wouldnt let us use the bathroom (stating they dont have a public restroom), plus, the room and lobby looks NOTHING like the pics I viewed online. My room was dirty, the appliances were stained, the drawer in the room was filthy, theres a mysterious spot on my bed that resembles old blood, the room smelled like cigarettes, weed, BO, and air freshner, and the noises the elevator makes is frightening. Then they tell me I can do a third party verification, but wouldnt even let me use their Wi-Fi so I could be on the phone and walk thru my cousin how to set up the third-party authorization because she is not computer savvy. Overall, Angela Green was not courteous nor polite, they were no accommodating, and as a customer, and under the circumstances, one would think they would have been more pleasant. I am still going to contact the REAL headquarters, not that customer relations number they give you to keep it from getting to the upper echelon. As well as giving ESH Hospitality a call. However, in all fairness, Shavon was very attentive and professional. I think her and Angela Green needs to switch positions; let me be clear, that Shavon is the ONLY reason I gave them ONE star.
We reserved a 2 bed room about 2 days in advance.. When we arrived we were given a single bed room. When we exclaimed that there had been some mistake, we were told that they no longer had any of the rooms we needed available.. This was of course after Id paid for the stay. They also told me the amount wouldnt be refunded for 2 days. Over all, an unpleasant experience.
I have some problems during my stay in first 3 days no a/c in my room they move to another room now they told me is 5 more dollars because is a convention close to the area I’m not going to that convention and they rise my weekly rent for that also my friend cancel his reservation by the new rate and that’s no fair
As soon as we opened the door, cigarette smoke and carpet deodorizer hit us in the face. After being in the room for 5 minutes, my nose and eyes were burning from the smell.. then my husband killed a ROACH!! This place has potential to be nice but the smoke smell and roach ruined it for me.
I have been coming here for the last year at least once a month to visit my boys while I travel for work. This is a very highly recommended hotel for the price. The management and customer service are on point! The location is also perfect for pretty much all you needs.
Man by far the best hotel for the best price that I have ever experienced in my short hotel life, gotta say something about Angela and her whole staff they took care of me and my twins and my 18 month old son to the point to where I spent more days there than I anticipated whatever I needed they were there they were kind and they were patient and they did and went over the top for whatever me and my family needed and I just want to let everybody know if you need a hotel that care this is it I appreciate everything that theyve done for me and my family and I just wanted to say thank you
HORRIBLE. DO NOT STAY HERE. ROOMS WERE DIRTY AND SMELL LIKE WEED. FRIDGE DIDNT WORK. STAFF WAS GHETTO, THE GIRL AT THE FRONT DESK DIDNT HAVE ON SOCKS! SHE HAD US WAIT AN HR BEFORE CHECK IN. THE HOTEL HAD PIT BULLS RUNNING ALL THROUGH THE HOTEL. THEY DONT OFFER ROOM SERVICE. I TRIED CALLING CORPORATE BUT I WAS ON HOLD FOR 45 MINS. YOU WOULD THINK CANTON MICHIGAN WOULD HAVE NICER HOTELS THAN THIS.....THINK AGAIN. STAY AWAY!!!!!!!!!
Horrible horrible horrible. I asked for dishes and never got them, when I went to check out they tried to add extra charges for my dog being with me, my room was open when I got there, missing towels And they never gave me my discount and points for the rewards program.

2022-06-24Very Comfy for extended stay or even a few nights. It’s not a 5 star Hotel, but it has all the basics you need when on the road. I’ve been here visiting my hubby for 2 weeks and the staff has been very pleasant and helpful. Location is great!!! You are within walking distance of shopping and dinning (if you chose to). Everything you need is close. Everything is clean and well taken care of. No fowl smells like I’ve read in other comments.

2022-02-28The staff and accommodations were awesome. We arrived in the area to handle a family emergency and stayed a little over 3 weeks. The staff is professional and went above and beyond their duties in making our stay as comfortable as possible. They were very helpful in helping my wife and me through a difficult situation and I greatly appreciate all they did. The rooms were clean and operational and if we needed anything or any assistance it was handled immediately. I highly recommend it.

2022-06-09I cant comment on the hotel as a whole as I have not stayed here, however the hotel staff was incredibly helpful and friendly.I valet at a local hospital and lost my phone in a guests car. I had tracked it down to the hotel here and Renee at the front desk was able to quickly contact the owner and help me get my phone back! She easily could have just taken my info and contacted me when they left, but she went well above and beyond for me so I could find it ASAP and I greatly appreciate it!

2022-06-02Incredibly friendly, genuine staff. Clean comfortable rooms, amazing location away from street traffic but close to everything. And a lovely pond with geese and ducks....I love watching the little goslings go for a swim.

2022-06-13I am a 52-year-old physically disabled quadriplegic that is wheelchair-bound. I was ejected from the hotel and had police called on me because after the staff member at the counter who claimed to be the only manager available became aggressive and I responded with profanity. The staff member, David, gave me 60 minutes to leave the hotel. I am currently staying because I am waiting for my home to be completed. As a quadriplegic I require wheelchair accessible rooms and a roll-in shower. These amenities are not easily found. Especially when given 60 minutes to find, pack all belongings and remove belongings from property. David checked us in the hotel 3 days prior and was unhelpful, rude and condescending from the beginning. I called customer service and requested a refund for the 2 weeks I had booked in the hotel and they are saying because I left the property early that I will pay a re-rated fee. I was ejected from the property so I do not understand the policy. I also fell and injured myself while rushing to leave the property. None of the staff at this location are helpful, friendly or have any customer service skills. I had stayed at this hotel 10 years ago and I will never stay there or recommend this hotel as long as the current staff is still in place.

2022-03-16Positive: I liked the location and the fact no one tripped when we used the sound box. Negative: Ok I have to say this Extended stay sucked in more ways the one! I¿ll never stay here again. The TVs are so out dated. They didn¿t have any pots, pans, plates, or utensils, NOTHING. They don¿t do late checkout and when asked they are rude. The be

2021-12-05This place is awful. Where to start, thru out my month stay there was only two workers that were great at costumers service. The month stay there they only cleaned my room twice and thats only because I had told them how long its been since the last time they had the room. One time I had told the manager Christina about the situation and she told me that they were short staff and that she will give me the linens and equipment to clean my room. I basically told her that, that wasnt my job. Ive stayed at other Extended Stay America and I never had this problem or attitude before. Both managers dont go and beyond when coming about customer service.

2021-08-29I have stayed with my wife at this location for three days. Once we entered the room we noticed a smoking smell, even the room was advertised as non smoking. The bathroom didnt look like it was clean, the bathtub was dirty and when we took showers the water did not drain and remain there for a long time. Because we arrived late and we were so tired after a long 9 hours driving trip, we decided to accept this room. When I got back home I noticed an extra charge of $250 on my credit card. I called at the hotel to ask what was this about and I have been told it was for smoking in the room. This is not true, we didn’t smoke in the room and the smell is probably from who used the room before us. When I asked to speak with the property manager, Letitia, she refused. She didn’t even want to listen to us or call us back I find this extremely outrageous, completely unfair, and I do not recommend this hotel. Checking the reviews here I found that we are not the first ones having this bad experience with them. Always read the reviews before book you trip!
