Comment: Signed up for a deal in June 2023. Two months later my rent increased over $100 per month. The deal was a move to get you in the door and then they raised the rental 41 percent two months into the contract. I have rented many units for my personal and business needs and NEVER had a rental increase at this amount, nor this fast. Beware of the tactics they pull in order to lock you in and not go with a competitor. On top of that, if you do not tell them ahead of time that you may be moving out in the following month, proration is not available. Again not something I have experienced with other rentals as the notice period is usually 10-14 days to provide and they refund back the amount of time un- used as they can re-rent the unit. Overall would not recommend if you want a straight forward business and relationship that is not entirely in favor of the rental company.

Comment: BREAK INS, NO ACCESS, PRICE HIKESSince extra space has taken over this place isnt worth the money at all. Yeah its a place to store your belongings and thats it. But if youre looking for a place to store tools or items for work to keep in a safe place and acess them daily befire and after going to work this is worthless.The hours used to be 6am till 10pm. Now its 8am to 5pm while raising the rent. Today I went in and now the gate wont open until 10 am and will shut down at 4pm so it opens way after I have to be at work and closes before I get off every day. now Sunday I have zero access. I pay $50 a month more for up to 8 hours less access a day.They claim its for security. Yet the entire property is left unattended and break ins happen at an increasing rate. The propery is between police districts so neither show up. The combination of the ghost town property for the majority of the day and knowing no police will show is prime hunting grounds for thieves.They even make you pay for renters Insurance but theft isnt part of the coverage.This is a side note Ive been reading the rest of these 5 star reviews and notice the majority of them only have 1 review on thier account. A person who never made a review isnt going to review a storage unit for thier first review all of these 5 stars are fake

It is nothing more than a deceitful and manipulative operation that will leave you feeling scammed and taken advantage of. They lure you in with a month-to-month lease, but dont be fooled - they reserve the right to cancel, change, or jack up the price whenever they please. And trust me, they will.I made the mistake of renting a space for my trailer at $275 per month, only to have them pull the rug out from under me just three months later. They gave me a measly month to pack up my belongings, return from overseas, find a vehicle for towing, and locate a new spot in the middle of summer. It was an impossible task, to say the least. Eventually, I found another spot at an Extra Space in Redondo Beach, a whopping 20 miles away. But just when I thought I could finally relax, they pulled the same stunt again. They started my rent at $145 and then had the audacity to hike it up by a mind-boggling 56% to over $221 per month with only a months notice!I have rented storage spaces for years where the price remained locked in upon signing, with no changes for years on end. But Extra Space is not like those reputable places. It is only suitable if you need a temporary solution for a month or two at most. If you plan on storing your belongings for any longer, be prepared to constantly relocate, pay exorbitant fees, or desperately search for another facility. Extra Space is nothing short of extortion and a despicable way to conduct business.Updated 10/16/2023I have finally escaped the clutches of Extra Space and closed my account and moved out. Wow do I feel so much more secure not being there. I will never, under any circumstances, do business with Extra Space again. Interestingly, they commented on my review below and even applied a $40 credit to my account when I was moving out. Its clear they were trying to save face, but their actions were too little, too late.They mention that their short term lease policy is beneficial to most as their are no long term contracts but what would you consider a long term contract? 2 months, 6 months, 8 months, 1 year or more? They very quickly charged me way more than what I expected to pay an could afford within a few months of moving in. This is a tactic to hold your belongings for ransom, to over charge you knowing that you most likely not move out anytime soon and you will just pay instead of renting another moving truck and finding another storage space and moving all your times out then back into the new place.If you don’t want to do that then don’t rent from Extra Space. Not here not anywhere. This is not a location specific issue it’s a corporate driven greed and direction.However it was not surprising that the staff at the Redondo Beach facility also showed concern or gratitude for my business.I cannot stress this enough: Buyer Beware! Do not store your valuable items or engage in any business with this Extra Space storage facility, or any others for that matter. Unfortunately, Extra Space continues to live up to the shady reputation that plagues the moving and storage industry. Went to go put some items in the unit I just rented to find out the access was blocked road door to my unit etc. There is a construction crew there changing doors that dont seem to care about any OSHA regulations. I told the contractors I needed access to my unit they refused and said management was supposed to tell me. Went to the office there was a gentleman who told me he would talk to them. After he spoke with them I had to back a commercial truck down a one way and was told to pull around and the garage doors in middle of Road would be moved. The gentleman from extra space neglected to follow threw to make sure road was cleared. 15 mins later I tried to move the roller door myself and am now injured. I told the office Im injured and they neglected to ask if I needed assistance just gave me a paper and said fill it out. Im now suffering from tremendous pain!

This place is worse then Redondo Mini Storage 100 times they have raised the rent twice this year and we havent even reached June ridiculous! Its not a small percentage either of 10 percent they want to raise it from $115 to $149??? Are you serious? My unit had been broken into, I was in shock and direly went to seek help from the office; I was very calm but clearly wanted to cry. The management would not assist me or offer any reasonable customer support, or sympathetic tone. This commotion went on till 7:55 PM (their closing time). When I finally gave up trying to figure out what happened; I wanted to return to my unit to pick up my bag (keys/wallet.Going in and out took me a good 10 minutes (since my unit was by the end). Once I arrived by the gate to leave; management had left and when I called, Someone opened the gate through mobile devise.Next day, I was picking my things up to move to another safer storage. I signed documents that I wanted to leave; surely, they made it impossible. They wanted me to pay $50 charge for leaving storage at 8:07 instead of 8:00 the day before. Considering what happened, I would think that I had extenuating circumstances. They refused to cancel this charge or let me take my things until I paid the $50 . There is no two sides to this story. I was a victim of un-just management that apparently does not care for their customers.

Redondo Torrance MiniStorage charged me $50 and allowed someone I dont know to use my gate code after hours. Apparently they will lock you inside of the storage area after 8 PM and if you want to leave they will charge you $50 dollars. Its sounds highly illegal and also the fact that they are not verifying this is ACTUALLY you, is problematic. Customer service was extremely rude initially until they found out I really wasnt at the gate. They are still charging me the fee plus more fees totaling up to $136 because they said I had to have given my gate code to somebody to use. I am upset how they dealt with this scenario and I dont recommend anyone use this place.

Comment: Moved in for a few months to this Storage, and while I had a storage for a few months, the place wasn’t as clean, the section I was in, I would find empty beer cans and waste, like if someone would sleep there or hangout after hours. There were other storages that looked like they were broken in, a man came in once saying his lock was blended and needed a new one because someone tried to brake in.When it came for me to move out, I moved out about 1-3days of the beginning of the month, they don’t pro rate and charge you the whole month amount which sucked because I’ve delt with other storage units and they are always great about pro rating. Also someone said to wait a day to see if the manager would consider pro rating the unit before I left, but manager Ronda never got back to me and I got charged a $15 late fee!I tried to fight that because it was very unprofessional and unfair to be charged, to then promising to return the amount. It’s been over 3 months and I’m still trying to get those $15 back.. every time I call apparently the supervisor or manager is always “on vacation”I’ve given them my information to mail me a check as promised and haven’t received anything yet. Worst Storage company I’ve felt with, unprofessional and they make an excuse every time about passing any important information to the manager or supervisor.Do not do business here!

I rented a unit many months ago, and after the first month I decided that I didnt want to rent a unit anymore. So on April 1st I called the office having already vacated my unit and told them that I would like to cancel my account. The lady on the phone said she couldnt do that without charging me for rent for the month of April. I felt that this was unfair but after some mild arguing, I gave in and said fine Ill pay for the month of April, but Im not going to be using it feel free to give it to someone else. Yeah to me that sounds like my account should have been closed right? Wrong! Many months later I start getting bills in the mail and realize that the account is not closed and has remained open and has been occurring charges this whole time. I have sent numerous emails demanding that they closed my account, and have not gotten one reply. They record phone calls so I prefer not to call because I feel thats an invasion of privacy. So how else does one communicate with these people? I am very busy and do not have time to go into the office during normal office hours. Its the 21st century guys, email is the norm, why cant you guys use it? In writing this review, I am hoping to be able to contact somebody in the office preferably a manager, and let them know that theres no way I am paying them anymore money. They have sent things in the mail saying theyre going to auction the stuff in my storage unit which is funny because my unit has been vacated since April 1st. So that would be a pretty disappointing auction. Currently Im very disappointed in this business. My opinion might change slightly if the situation is corrected. I am in patiently waiting for a response.

However when I have given them my notice I spoke with Jesse (I guess its his name) the guy who was in charge. He told me I just needed to vacate the unit and everything else would be okay. Three months later I receive a phone call from the manager saying that I owed them 3 months payment. I explained to him what I had been told by Jesse, he put on hold and I could overhear them talking and Jesse saying that he remembered me and yes he had told me that I just needed to vacate by the end of the month. Even though the supposed to be manager continued to threat me to send me to collection. I didnt agree to pay for the simple fact that I didnt use the service and also that I was misinformed about the notice to vacate. What happened then?! The damn manager sent my account to collection and ruined my credit as he had said so.DONT USE THEIR SERVICES! Comment: I went online ad came across Redondo Torrance MiniStorage and I was impressed with their prices initially. However, once I actually talked to Jaime on the phone, I was more eager to rent from them because of his excellent customer service. He invited me to come down to the facility to view the spaces, so I did. Once I got there, he was very knowledgeable about the available spaces and even helped me to make a more educated decision on the space I needed to store my belongings. Being a first time storage renter, I was really pleased with the way he took the time to explain the procedure and pricing in detail. Although other customers came in, I didnt feel rushed and that made me feel comfortable enough to do business with this company.

Comment: From the time I opened my account to the time I closed it due to relocation, I was treated exceptionally well and was 100% satisfied with the location, the ease-of-access, the cleanliness of the premises, as well as the positive attitude of the staff. They have such a can do attitude, and when I asked for additional help closing up my unit, Jaime came to the rescue. He was simply a delight to work with. They clearly care about customer service, and thats why Ill spread the word about this gem. Finally, Im used to getting the runaround when closing an account of any sort. It was so incredibly easy to just clean out my unit and close my account. This made my stressful moving week much more manageable. Thank you, Redondo Torrance Mini Storage!

Comment: I would not recommend this place to anyone. My fiancé and I called and reserved a storage over a month ago for a specific date with a specific price. When we go to move in on the date the manager that offered us that Price was not there, and still let us move all of our stuff in and now the day that we are leaving the country for seven months we get word that they cannot offer the deal they offered originally. This is terrible business. The manager (who is off site) and who you have to go indirectly through was extremely rude and would do nothing to help us. We are now in a position (leaving the country) that we cannot do anything about our stuff. I recommend going elsewhere for you storage. Being lied to, taken advantage off, and talked to like it was our fault is despicable.

Comment: Just want to say Melody and Ally were absolutely amazing. Very nice people especially for an early Saturday morning. I was dropping a vehicle off for a friend and they made it the easiest process ever. Melody showed me the unit and was very very nice. Ally handled the paperwork and was fabulous as well. If Im to ever to need storage for any reason I will certainly be using the services of the Redondo Mini Storage.

They treated us like family even though it was our first time ever renting a storage unit. Comment: The experience was great overall with service and cleanliness. My only problem was that I had to stay longer than three months due to my tenant refusing to vacate the home where the furniture was to go. I paid the higher fees but left after only 7 days in September and had to pay for the whole month. It seems that a break shoud be given to the lessee in these situations. Maybe by breaking the month into two segments.Thank you,Maxine Brown

Comment: Aitofi is an exceptional example of customer service. I was stuck in traffic for two hours trying to make it to the storage on time and I just made it a few minutes before closing time and felt terrible. In most of my experiences in situations like this I walk into unpleasantness and attitude. Ive been in retail for years so I understand. her friendliness and kindness made me feel so much more at ease and comfortable. I wasnt rushed and she took her time to assist me very kindly and welcoming. Definitely changed my attitude on how I feel about customer service. I am very happy I found this spot regardless of my commute and because Im leaving a whole ton of my precious furniture here.

Comment: My initial contact was with Itofee, who is very pleasant on the phone. I was provided a perfect sized storage unit at a great price. The application and reservation over the phone was seamless and hassle free. The Free truck was useful for the 1st hour, but I discovered it takes more time to move than expected and there is a rate for that. I referred a friend and got a considerable credit for that! I found only one downside: There is no dumpster on site which would be useful for getting rid of clutter when reorganizing your unit.

Comment: Ive been a renter here since July 2011. Its a very well maintained facility. I have never had any problems with the staff or the building. Ms. Bonita is the manager and a very nice person. Ive referred numerous people to her. Very affordable and the half off discounts are a plus.
