Comment: I honestly never write reviews, but I’m making an exception because people should know. I signed for a particular web rate for a space. Three months later received a notice of a 100% percent increase. After calling corporate, the district manager James called me and made an offer to reduce the rate, but not back to the rate I signed up for. So basically I was deceived into signing up thinking my rate was what I signed up for -only to have James tell me we just raised your storage rent to the average of what everybody else is paying, which to be honest is a confusing thing to say - did everybody else’s storage rent raise also I live in San Ramon so I understand inflation however after 3 months this feels really bad, targeted and uneasy. The offer to lower it by James was made out to be like he was doing me a favor. I feel cheated mainly because I was mislead and now I have spend so much time moving all my things out. Then, for James to tell me this is normal, leaves me speechless. In my business as a store manager I’m usually a human first, to my customers then I follow company procedures. It’s really easy for me 9/10 corporate never has a problem with me treating the customer fairly. I’m very unhappy.

We rented another bigger storage and tried our best to vacate the older one before we get charged again for the new month. Unfortunately, it didnt happen, and we vacated it the following day after we got charged. I spoke to Jewel about the charge, and she said shes not promising anything but will do her best in getting us the refund since its only a day. I was not expecting much but today as Im looking at our credit card statement, I see a full refund on our card. So, thank you jewel for making that happen. Comment: Everything was great here. I just moved out of my space (at the start of the new billing month). Without being asked, their staff refunded my rent for this month. And, I got a personal message checking in on me. I was shocked by their desire to see me leave happy. I can’t think of another service provider in my entire life who is that honest, that concerned about customer satisfaction, and that fast to implement an action they know is right. This is 180 degrees from the typical space monger. I would drive an extra 5 - 10 miles for my future storage needs to ensure I got that kind of service again.

Comment: Initially this place was reasonably priced so I moved in my stuff in 2 months later they raised the rent from $120 to over $200 to where I repeatedly couldnt make the payments and had to pay the late fee multiple times I ended up owing over $700 and luckily Marcus works there and was was willing to help me out and allowed me to make $150 payment out of the 700 and allow me a few days to get my belongings out he treated the situation with nothing but professional common courtesy and I really appreciate it!

Comment: PROSFacility - the entire facility is new-ish/modern, very well maintained, clean, including the office. You see staff actively cleaning, sweeping, and taking care of the facility.Staff - I believe Jewel is the manager, and the one who I interacted with the most. She is genuinely friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. All around, a great person to work with during the whole process.CONSDust - I needed the place to store my items for about 3 months, which isnt a terribly long time by any measure. When it came to move out, I was SHOCKED by the amount of dust/grit that was on everything. I was not expecting a science lab clean room, but if you see the photo, you can see the amount that accumulated on EVERYTHING in the few months I was there. Turns out there is a 1-2 inch gap (see photo) that runs along the sides where the walls meet the ceiling. I am guessing this allows for air flow to help keep the place cooler in hot months, but this gap also allows a ton of dust into your storage unit. Had I known this was going to happen, I could have easily put a painters plastic tarp over my items, which would have taken a few minutes and a few dollars. Instead, I am now having to store all these items in my garage as a staging area, as I need to wipe down EVERY SINGLE ITEM of dust/grit before bringing them inside. This is going to take me days. Cardboard boxes which are taped up, can be wiped down, however, items that were uncovered, such as a vacuum which has endless nooks and crannies, its going to be impossible to remove all the dust. And cloth/fabric furniture items that were uncovered .....Stickers - They place a company branded sticker over your locks as some type of security or verification measure which is fine. However, its impossible to remove cleanly without leaving sticky residue over your lock.

However the 35% lift in fees in less than 2 years was a tough pill to swallow.My rent went from $152 to $206 in 23 months. That’s more than California allows renters to raise fees on an annualized basis (10% YoY).Fees aside, I felt the location was great and never felt that my belongings were unsafe or at risk.Also the service especially from Jewel is exceptional. She got me $100 credited back since I moved out of my unit well before my 30 days were up.Overall recommend Extra Space storage on alcosta blvd for a clean, safe keeping of your belongings.

Comment: Maria was absolutely fantastic. She spent thirty minutes showing me units, going over pricing options and even looking at quotes for other locations. I don’t technically need a place for a couple of weeks and she couldn’t hold the size unit I needed, so I left, planning to come back and check in soon. I wasn’t half way down the street before I turned around to come back and signed the lease immediately. Maria was so helpful that I would rather spend an extra two weeks on the lease and feel comfortable than to save the money and not have peace of mind. I looked at three other locations in the area and this was by far the best service I received. Thank you!

Comment: We have been a customer at Extra Space Storage for 10+ years and have NEVER been unhappy with the service weve received or the space weve used. In that time weve worked with two different managers and an extension of the gate hours. The people in the office are friendly, the staff keep the place clean.Over the time weve been there they have let me store a motorcycle inside during the winter (yes I told them, they just wanted me to be careful about oil) weve had to replace two credit card (the auto-payment failed and they were very understanding), and once we messed up on locking the our door and they gave us a call to let us know.They raise the rates every couple of years and its always been a small amount. If this place had a space that could hold my RV Id have that there as well.We really appreciate this place.

Comment: I was looking for a storage unit and decided to rent with extra space. Jewel was so polite and helped me find the right sized unit for my budget. Every time i come to my unit Jewel greets me as I drive by which is really nice. Shes always out there working hard, in fact, shes the only one I see doing things. I really enjoy dealing with her when making my payments or getting a few boxes when I need to but the other older lady that works there with the short hair (works in the office) always seems to have a bad attitude and grumpy as if Im bothering her when i come in. Anyway, I highly recomend renting here because its super clean and feels secure. Anyone that comes in ask for Jewel, she is the best!

Comment: I almost never give 5 stars for anything but this place really exceeded my expectations. In the first place it is very clean and attractive. The storage rooms dont smell musty or look used.The manager was very helpful and patient. She demonstrated how to use the keypad and answered my questions and was very polite and pleasant.I reserved a 5 x 15 space, but when I looked at it it seemed cramped. I asked if I could switch to a larger, square space. She immediately looked up what was available and switched me over to a 10 x 10 unit that was only $32 more a month than the smaller one.The facility is laid out very well. It is easy to find my locker and easy to move in. If you are downsizing or upsizing or need storage for any reason, I highly recommend Extra Space Storage in San Ramon.

I live about 45 minutes away but I am always happy with the manager Jewel who operates that property with precise attention to detail for the all around experience. Friendly service, clean safe area and neighborhood, and conveniently close to shopping plaza with Starbucks, Walmart Markets, salons, and more. This place is worth driving out of your way to store your stuff in a comfortable place.
