Family Fare has a wide variety to shop from-I was pleasantly surprised. The prices overall seem a little higher than say Meijer, but sometimes thats the price we pay to have the convenience to shop locally ( rural area ). They have a special Gluten Free section too! In addition to a great selection to shop, the staffs great!
They have super great deals this weekend and the employees were super helpful -we are outta towners- she even helped me sign up for one those little reward cards to save some money. The store was busy but the cashiers quick to get us out safely. We will definitely come back
This is a nice store. I was able to find everything I needed including location, wd40, paper, and markers for drawing. I was shocked at my bill.I was shocked at my total bill, usually only buy whats on sale at my local Family Fare. However, with that said, Im pretty shocked every time I shop anywhere nowadays.
I bought two jars on Skippy peanut butter on December 28th,2020 at 07:30pm and when I got home my fiance took off the lid to the peanut butter to take the seal off and there wasnt one on it and it also looked like they Stuck their finger in it. So I called Family Fare before driving all the way back there and I let the manager of Family Fare know that I had bought two jars of Skippy peanut butter and that my fiance had tooked the lid off the jar and the seal was missing she told me to bring it back to the store and I did then manger tells me that I didnt get it from there store because all the other jars didnt have the 30% off coupon on them. They would of known that I bought it from there if they would learn to look at there video cameras they have in the store.
Always clean and inviting. Usually there is hot coffee just waiting to warm you up, while you shop. I LOVE the NEW grocery carts!!!! The carts have a place for a beverage and a separate one the first a purse perfectly! Kootos to the people that got them! This is still my favorite family store!
I wish the deli had better salad options, they only have the basic open the container and put it on display . You need to ring the bell because even if you make eye contact and say hello you are still ignored until you ask for help or find the bell. I grabbed a lb. of mac salad and realized the next day that it had actually expired the day I bought it, so ask for expiration dates. Or better yet go to Steves!
Ive always appreciated the staff and the work they do. Im always disappointed with the Family Fare Corporation. Too often, Corporate or someone from that higher level changes the Harrisons stores order so it can be sent to a larger store. This was happening long before COVID-19.During these stressful days, the paper products aisle is still empty unless you get there early. So many other stores are not like that.Their supply and delivery lines of goods needs to improve. We are a small town and its an injustice to our Community.
I want to let Family Fare, Harrison Managers and anyone who does business here . . . they have an employee Justin, who went out of his way tonight to help me. It was definitely NOT in his job description, however when I called and explained my circumstances to him he told me to be safe getting there and he would do this favor for me. I told him what I would be driving and I hadnt even gotten out of my vehicle and Justin was greeting me outside and made sure I was able to be standing there to pick out my plant or if he needed to get me something to sit down on!! I truly hope Family Fare realizes and appreciate what a dedicated, caring and outstanding employee they have and do whatever it takes to keep him!
Went in there to get a few things and was in line for 20 minutes. 1 lane open and 4 people in line in front of me. My ice cream for real soft and with this virus going on it seems like they would have got you through the lines faster. The customer service line had 3 people in line and still there when I left, and the self checkout had 1 each and went fast. With a line open and 6-8 employees standing there laughing , messing around , looking at us no other lanes were opened. I live 6 miles from the Harrison store but will start going to Houghton lake where the service is much better but really dont think a person should be pushed out of there hometown for it! There is one cashier that we seem to get that when she is waiting on you she will just leave to go to self checkout or go to customer service desk and then wonders back to the register. The Harrison , Mi store really needs more attention on there customer service knowledge.
Overpriced!!! I called ahead to inform Family Fare Harrison staff that I would be coming in on Friday to have 10 balloons blown up, which were bought on amazon. When I showed up on Friday, the staff acted like I was inconveniencing them for doing their job! $36.00 to have TEN balloons FILLED. Not the price of the balloons....just the helium to have them filled. I am absolutely disgusted of the price and how rude the staff treated me. The balloons only lasted 2 hours until they deflated....
Well stocked but mark-up much higher than Walmart. I only had 4 items but Customer Service counter put up closed sign when I approached so I waited in the only other open line. I noticed that the Customer Service counter was back open when I was leaving. Who knows, maybe theyre only open for people they know.
If it wasnt for the super friendly staff I wouldve given them a 2 star rating. Way overpriced! Produce is always expired or close to-I have had to return several produce items because they were rotten, and very small selection. They have the largest selection of just about everything else in Harrison compared to the other smaller grocery stores and the rotisserie chicken in the deli is the best!
Just had a great experience with the gentleman running the cashier. His name was Aaron . He thanked me for being a veteran and was just as kind to the people in front of me . I would never say anything about anyone , this young man is exceptional . I’m sure I am not the only one who has mentioned his name .
The people who work here are terrific. Unfortunately, corporate makes things difficult for them. Often shelves arent stocked well because the warehouse doesnt have the items or corporate decides to send part of their order to a larger store. Sometimes items are on sale and they arent on the shelves for days or at all. It makes the store look bad as well as our community.
Too expensive for yearlong residents. They are a poor choice for travelers and holiday visitors if they cannot improver their guest services. Over all employees are friendly but often they dont have enough cash available at the customer swrvice desk and I ha e had to wait just over ten minutes just to be acknowledged on multiple occasions.
I love this store donut section is great. they got free coffee there by the door free fruit stand areas for the kids. great selection of liquor and beer. they have mixin yogurts that are good. and they got a big cereal isle. and a coinstar machine and a popbottle return.
The woman at the service counter was abrupt and impatient when I asked her to have someone check stock of a sale item that was no longer on the shelf. She gave me the impression that she really didnt want to be bothered. Apparently there was nobody available to check stock and neither she nor the other service desk attendant had the time. She did, however offer a raincheck. It was disappointing.
I was looking for just a single pork chop (which, of course isnt the way meat is packaged 😉) and the man restocking the meat department offered to wrap one of my choice! So I gratefully went home with a nice bone-in chop. This trip, based on customer service in the meat department alone is a 5 star trip. My cashier deserves kudos also. However, I unfortunately ran into whomever was restocking the produce section and asked about a product I routinely buy, and the response was a rude comment about an obscure sign. I expressed my dismay regarding the general poor condition of the produce section in general during my last few visits, and the response I got as I was walking away was yep. Wow. Night and day from the meat department.
Very expensive, but the only place in town to get certain items. If you can make it to Mt. Pleasant 30 mins away to go to Walmart or Meijer it would be worth the drive to save the $$$ if you cant leave town I suggest going to the dollar store and save a lot before you go there. I only buy the stuff I cant find at other stores in town.
Cashiers are friendly, not usually a wait in line. They have good sales when they have them, but regular prices for goods here is to high in my opinion. Their bottle return machine are terrible and always in need of assistance. And I would not recommend using the pharmacy here, very long wait.

2022-06-01I was camping at Wilson State Park and utilized this Family Fare twice. I like the selection and thought the store was very clean. I had some donuts on Memorial day before the ceremony and they were very delicious. The staff was nice and it was conveniently located.

2022-04-08This store, while it gives me the vibes of an old Farmer Jack store on the South side of the state, is on quite the expensive side. I have only been here once, and went in not knowing what to expect, but other than the super high inflated prices, the products are still fresh, the store is clean, the empoyees are friendly, etc.Im not sure if it is like this because of the current bi-dation (Biden Inflation) that we are living through, or if it is just because of it being really the only big grocery store in Harrison,MI, but it would be nice if things were just a bit cheaper thats all.

2022-03-16Considering Save-A-Lot had gone up in prices. This place has better deals but you need a yes card for the savings.
