Oh well lookie here I can in fact rate this building!!! 5 stars all the way. It is truly a gem of the city.Ive heard more than Ive experienced of the Fisher Building. But here are some things...Ive heard it was great and that the theater is a must. It has underground tunnels that connect it to other parts of the city. There is an old bank and vault in the basement of this building. Ive seen it and it was very cool to explore. I dont think it survived in business, but there once was a tasty Latin restaurant here not that long ago. Ive not been during normal business hours but the shopping looks fun. There are multiple businesses running out of the Fisher. The building itself and all of its marble and mosaics and amazing light fixtures are what really win the stars from me. It is an eyeful of beauty and in rememberance of what was... a hay day of a city now being rebuilt. Glad the Fisher remains and has through it all.
I was really impressed by this building. They call it the biggest art piece of Detroit and it most definitely is. This beautiful building is decorated with incredible frescos and many metallic walls. The Fischer Building also houses the magnificent Fischer theater, a lavishly decorated Mayan theme hall. I joined a tour on Saturday provided by an organization called Pure Detroit which is directed by great and talented guides
Absolutely stunning architecture. Such cute shops inside, they even have a barber/beauty shop. They are allowing in store shopping with masks required to enter Fisher. Theater still closed at this time. The shops are only open certain days. Most of them were open on Fridays.
What a beautiful historical landmark in the heart of New Center, accessible, and with a long history. We had a friend show us around the building. There is a guided tour and a theatre show was going on, however, we didn’t attend either. I like that Pure Detroit and the Peacock Room were in the Building for some cute shopping. Gorgeous architecture.
A very interesting yet haunting feeling architectual piece of Detroits rich history. No surprise it was used to film Hotel Artimis!!! The stigma of Detroit will keep you from experiencing some of the most beautiful art and history. This is literally down the street from Motown Museum; which in itself is simply the most enthusiastic and unique tour of those Ive taken. Its almost as though you feel the energy of the artists that have come through and practically lived there at the peaks of their careers.Id be interested in a tour of this building as I withhold the curiosity of the many hidden rooms and history of them. The history of the of Detroits Fisher Building is Fascinating!!!
The Fisher building is definitely worth a tour. The building is very ornate. The tour guide does a really good job of telling you the storey of the building. Most notably the different prices paid for the building adjusted for inflation are very interesting. The tour ends with a trip up to the observatory that gives you a good view of the Detroit skyline from afar. The building is mostly offices today but does have a theater, convenience store and a few clothing shops, including the pure Detroit store.
Such a magnificent building. They added a bunch of local shops inside as well as another amazing coffee shop. You can spend an afternoon here.I definitely recommend taking a tour that is offered because you learn how much love the Fisher brothers put into the city and their namesake building!
We took the Tour of the Fisher Building last Saturday Jul 20. Josh was our Tour guide and he was Fantastic!! It was his Last tour after 6 years so we were very Lucky to have him guiding us and telling us the interesting History behind this beautiful building . My daughter who is really into Art at age 7 really liked the ceiling details and the chandeliers. I hope everyone who visits Detroit take the time to Stop and Admire this building with his great history and architecture.
Old charm plus modern amenities. Love how the parking garage is connected. The huge theater lobby has tons of room but can be a bit confusing with the various stairways and floors. The theater is excellent - always enjoy the show there. Seats are comfortable and not too small. Staff is always kind and helpful.
A must see building when visiting Seattle. The place itself reminds how glorious and rich Detroit once was. With amazing architecture, fine details and lots of gold finishes it shows true craftsmanship. No single bas-relief or ceiling painting is the same. Definitely worth visiting, especially that lobby entrance is free and open for 24 hours.
This entire building is a piece of art, and I highly recommend you go take the tour they offer. The building is made of all marble, from around the United States and other places around the world, every elevator is made of brass, with exquisite detail, the chandeliers are just majestic and beautiful, theres a theater, many small local shops. I am just in awe of this buildings beauty. The 3 radio stations still operate there, and on a good day, the signal has reached as far as Russia. They also allow weddings to be held there. Its a beautiful Icon in Detroit.
This building is considered a work of art in its own right. The architecture is iconic and the place is overflowing with historical significance. I especially enjoyed the tunnel joining this building to the General Motors world headquarters across the road. Included in the complex is the famous Fisher Theatre.
Owned by a black woman some 20 years ago. Her children were taking into adoption her man killed. The family uncle tried to fight to keep the building owned by their family. He was killed. They adopted children are friends and the physical evidence take off the internet. Anytime we had something nice we were slaughtered and stolen from. Love my people dont let the enemy play you keep an eye on his activity why you are going qbout daily life. God bles
I took the free Pure Detroit tour on a Saturday afternoon after Valentine’s Day. Lots of people including couples and families. The tour is great if you want to hear the history of the building and get a view from the 22nd floor!Be sure to roam around the 1st-3rd floors. The building is beautiful with a lot of detail and most of it is seen on these floors. The building is open to the public so it is easy to wander through.
Saw the fabulous Hadestown at at the gorgeous Fisher Theater. Very organized and efficient entry (inside the great hall) to check COVID-19 vaccine or negative test results and photo ID. For the most part, people remained masked inside (except when eating or drinking). Parked across the street for $5 - easy in and out.
Beautiful building that is worth the visit just to see the architecture alone. Sparsely-filled, but houses one of the coolest shops in Detroit - the Peacock Room. Eclectic shop, mostly catering to women, has beautiful womens dresses (in a multitude of sixes) from casual to formal, great gifts, vintage inspired jewelry and much more. Yama, a sister store to the Peacock Room features more contemporary jewelry and clothing and Pure Detroit, specializing in all things Detroit, books, clothing and more are also good stops while visiting
This is such a fantastic historical building. Also has great retail space for shopping. The old style architecture and accents with the gold plating and marble other stone and decor makes me wish I could go back in time to see it in its heyday. I love that they keep it up and so clean and polished looking! Very neat to see if anything else just for the magnificent style of its building.
Beautiful building in the inside but they refuse to pay their employees that clean the building pay them minimum wage and have them working over hard times cleaning the sweets no overtime this is a building Im glad its going to be sold and I hope someone will do better than what has been. Worked in this building over two and a half years no hot running water in the employees restroom on the first floor and when you call the health department then management gives them all kinds of excuses Im not that fond of this field and Ive seen better buildings in New York, New Hampshire, California, but everybody has their own view.
Ooooh baby, gotta love that art deco ostentatiousnessalso gotta appreciate the fact that you can just stumble in whenever you want and hear yourself clod hopping along, as you walk alone through this brass-gilded, tiled, and marbled caverna very cool building (with a lot of available near-street parking)
The Fisher is my personal favorite place to see a show. The building is extravagant with high ceilings, ornate fixtures and art in many forms. The ushers are friendly and helpful and the seats are very nice. I havent had a bad seat yet. I love the parking lot is free and connected to the building. I am always looking forward to seeing a show there.
This is truly a beautiful building. There are a group of shops that sell a variety of possible gifts and necessities as well as the theater. A new thing the building has been doing is showcasing local artists with their inside windows with exhibits switching between painted and photographed showcases. They also have additional displays pertaining to history such as the current Flags of the Fisher that is going on July 2019. I also highly recommend going on the tour of the Fisher Building through Pure Detroit, or just walking around the first 3 floors (especially the 3rd where you can see the ceilings incredible artwork up close. A must see if you are visiting Detroit from near or far!
Gorgeous building. We saw Hamilton and had good seats. However, the theater is small so I am pretty sure there isnt a bad seat in the house. The theater itself isnt ornate like the Fox, but the building is a treasure. Parking was free and close which was a huge bonus. Well staffed, easy to enter and find your seats!
Beautiful great sound helpful friendly staff. I was in awe of this place $8 to park. Wait what? $8 to park lowest ever that close to your location. When you walk in you are created with a beautiful hall with high ceilings and design work that you will be forced to take pictures of. The auditorium was laid out very well, not a bad seat around. The sound has been updated and was crisp sharp with no distortion. Even with the nature of the environment to have have echo which a lot of times cause cancelation or interference distorting sound this was not overly present and made the listening all the more enjoyable. If you can you must see a show here. You wont be disappointed.
I love the Fisher Bldg. I go to the pharmacy there, I have one problem with the Fisher building, I am handicapped I use a walker to get around and I do not like that they have took the handicap switch to open the doors. Im concerned the building is not handicapped accessible thats the reason why I didnt give five stars. The doors to the Fisher building are very heavy and trying to maneuver a walker and hold the door open is very tedious so they need to make the building handicap accessible.
Nice place, but kind of a small theater. If you are six foot or taller, your knees will hurt at the end of a two hour show. If you are on the plus side or having hip or back issues, the seats are not very forgiving. Drinks and limited snacks cost venue pricing, so too much. Outside of that, good time, good shows.
The decor is beautiful. The atmosphere was great. We saw the Marvin Gaye, Pride and Joy and it was done well. The story and music was everything. The cast was amazing!! We really enjoyed ourselves. I was born and raised in the city and truly forgot how beautiful the Fisher Building is ❤❤❤
Historic building, always clean, beautifully decorated with historic decor. The doors and elevator doors have amazing designs & images on them. Lots of brass and painted designs. The transformers shot some scenes at Fisher Bldg for a couple of years. The theater is magnificent also. There are retail shops there, coffee and tea shops, banks, a Detroit shop, doctors, Wayne County Mental health services, & other offices and a skywalk to New Center One
Fantastic!!!! If you love Art Deco this is the place to visit while youre in Detroit. It is absolutely stunning. Amazing painted ceilings and also youll see amazing mosaics. Stunning Art Deco chandeliers. Amazing views of Detroit from the building tower. For a great experience book your free tour through Pure Detroit located in the north end of the building. They also operate a really nice shop! Loved it! 🤩
Breathtakingly beautiful Art Deco 1920s building. Stunning mosaic paneled walls, painted ceilings & mosaic marble floors. Lots of wrought iron details & gorgeous ceiling lights. They offer free tours multiple tomes a week, worth looking into to see behind the scenes into the theater, etc.
I had limited time at the Fisher Building and spent most all of it walking through the first floor. The interior was stunning. It makes the Empire State Building look like a tar paper shack and I love the Empire State Building. The art on the ceiling is magnificent as are the art deco appointments throughout the building. The interior is vast like an American industrial Cathedral.
The building was nice, drinks were reasonable price, the show was good (Anastasia) and parking was easy and included in ticket prices. The only issue was the seats they were terrible. Probably the most uncomfortable I have ever sat in. They reminded me of the metal fold up chairs which probably would have been better.
I love how this building integrates the iconic Fisher Theatre into it. In the day it’s an office complex that is a beautiful space from a gilded era and now home to startups and incubating new ideas. In the evening and weekends, it’s generous galleria and arcade forms the entrance to the Fisher Theatre. A truly amazing gem in Detroit and glad to see it getting a new life and beginning.
Very beautiful architecture from the great Albert Kahn, really a good example of fine art deco. The large ground floor lobby is open all the time, and the security is pretty friendly to anyone entering to admire the building. The little stores and shops open during the day are interesting and convenient. If youre visiting or a resident in the area, check out this historical building! Its like a block away from the Q-Line station!
Magnificent building. The interior design is beautiful and houses eateries, boutiques, as well as the Fisher ticket box office. The Fisher building is a must visit as a resident or tourist. You have to check for available parking in the surrounding area, if attending an event there is limited free parking available, call Fisher to inquire about parking. Enjoy!!
The Fisher Building is gorgeous but the theater itself needs a serious upgrade! The tacky red and gold carpet along with the decor scream the 70s. Seats are very uncomfortable and lines to the ladies room are ridiculous. I only gave it 3 stars because of the quality of entertainment offered.
Purchased tickets for Pride and Joy. Attendant was so so... Not an overly pleasant encounter but no real complaints. She was patient with my date inquiries. Forgot my wallet in the car and got her counterpart. She was a joy and we talked upcoming shows and best places to sit. Excited for the show and taking my daughter back for a show next season!
The Fisher Building is an architectural work of art. It has a marble exterior. The largest marble building in the United States. The interior was designed to impress and it does. Multiple types of marble are used many of which are no longer available. Bronze castings for showcases, signage and elevator doors. A number of specialty shops are on the main level as is the Fisher Theater which showcases touring Broadway shows.
This building is absolutely stunning; however, the workers are rude and inconsiderate while youre walking to the restroom or concession. They were yelling at everyone the entire time. The employees in the restrooms dont wear a uniform or nametag so you think its just a stranger yelling at you. Completely unorganized and definitely ruined my first time experience here. Wouldnt recommend this place to anyone. The Anastasia Show was magnificent except for the employees.
We have season tickets to the Fisher Theater and we always enjoy visiting this beautiful building. We sometimes even wander around just to look at the architectural details. I know this is in the middle of a business district, but I always wish places like this had more to do at night. Cant wait for next season!
The building is beautiful. Used to have my dentist at the Fisher Building when I was a kid. But I have to say get the Fisher Building parking structure is Iconic. I could just imagine the cars that have passed through those cement walls. It is the scariest parking structure Ive ever been in. So historical its scary but wonderful! The cement is grooved 2 put cars in 1 Direction. I screwed up and met a car going up when I wanted to go down. The ramps are bowed. Its cool and scary the building will live forever hopefully. Ill park outside for now hahaha
A nice Hidden Gem in the city of Detroit wonderful place to go and see a show or just to experience some of the Hidden shops within the building wonderful coffee shop small eateries clothing and jewelry stores here in a barbershop all things Detroit is also within the building you can experience a tour of the building at 12 or 2 on Saturdays and Sundays and its absolutely free. A wonderful way to learn about the history of Detroit
Art-deco gem! A must see for anyone visiting Detroit. Free to walk through the main atrium area, and don’t forget to walk up the stairs across from the security desk to the third level for an up close view of the hand painted ceiling and one-of-a-kind chandeliers.Easy paid street parking right in front, or go south two blocks and street park in front of Northern Lights Lounge for free!
I visit the Fisher Building every other week and am always in awe of the beauty inside. I like to visit a different shop each time I go. There is a bakery in there that was inspired by a wonderful bakery in New York with the same name; I believe City Bakery. I will trying this out on my next visit.
I just love the Fisher Building the beauty and a detailing oh the building inside the lobby. I love going to a play there. Or just walking around upstairs and downstairs. I can remember the downstairs having a lot of stores open. Going from the Fisher Building underground to the General Motors building.
Like stepping back in time to another era. A little difficult for disabled since automatic doors no longer work and its a huge building to explore but well worth it. As a below knee amputee I utilize a mobility scooter when I go to the Fisher to see plays. Usually someone is always friendly and opens the door for me.
Just saw the Book of Mormon on Saturday and it was great! Not only was the musical hilarious I had balcony seats and could see everything. I bought tickets last minute so the upper balcony was the only thing available and I was nervous that I wouldnt be able to see and hear. The acoustics were great and I could see the stage fine. The Fisher is also a very cool building. The only reason I am not giving it an excellent is because the drinks were kind of expensive...I expected that though.

2022-03-20GO SEE THIS!! Another amazing example of guilded age craftsmanship. The Geodesic panels to the archway sayings to the brass centerpiece that so many feet have shuffled across. There also is a great old underground hallway to The Cadillac Building entrance- which you can’t get into - but still super cool to see.

2022-04-01A jewel of a building to examine. Detailing & use of materials define a period of opulence and taste. Its hard not to feel heavy and happy to see something so well preserved.

2022-02-12This is beautiful upscale architecture at its best.. when your taking care of personal business so close by and hardly able to notice the art wonder standing tall just feet away or a visit to the theater. No matter what your going there, just walk through and say hello for a coffee or visit one of the shops like its the first day it opened.. Beautiful Fisher
