Such a wonderful store! Helpful and friendly staff. They make sure you get the proper fitting footwear. Great selection, and they’ll order your size/color if they’re out of stock. Overall it’s a great experience!

I had been thinking about getting a pair of Birkenstock’s for awhile, but wanted to try on a pair before making a purchase. For my birthday this year I stopped by 4th Ave Birkenstock and had a pleasant experience trying on different sandals. I’m glad I went in, because what I thought I wanted actually didn’t work out for me. The store employee was super helpful and gave me a lot of great information. I have been enjoying wearing my new shoes and I plan to get future repairs done at this store.
Great local shop. Glad they are still here. Had a very nice selection of Birkenstocks. The staff were knowledgable and able to offer sizing and fit advice. The service was fantastic and all the staff were wearing Birkenstocks as well so they must like what they are selling!!
Love this shop. Very honest and accommodating. I have owned Birkenstock sandals for YEARS and routinely switch out summer styles. I had destroyed my previous pair beyond repair, bought a new pair, returned them a day later, tried on even more pairs I didn’t think would work and ultimately left very happy with the pair I selected. Also, had my husbands cork resealed and soles replaced, which while expensive gets him a few more years out of the same pair.
Ordered on line, quick and easy and received same week. Received with a hand written thank you note with my shoes. I wish I lived closer, would be a store I would frequently visit!
Great shopping experience - the sales associate who helped us was knowledgeable and patient. She took the time to make sure we had the correct sizes and tried a variety of styles. We went on a Friday afternoon and the store was busy, but the staff were efficient to help everyone without making us feel rushed.
Always fresh selection of Birk’s! Jeanine was super cool and patient and knowledgeable! She helped me with sizing, colors, styles and I ultimately ended up going with Milano in Woodlore Brown with classic footbed. It is particularly rare and delightful to find a proprietor nowadays that takes pride in their products and offers superb customer service with regard to sales as well as repair, and Fourth Avenue Birkenstock shines on all counts!
I stopped by Fourth Ave Birkenstock to get fit for my first pair of Birkenstocks and man was I glad I did. They were extremely knowledgeable, helpful and very accommodating! Small businesses that are family owned like this are tough to find these days. I live about 1.5 hours away but will be sending everyone looking for new sandals their way! Well worth the trip!!!

The people here are extremely helpful and friendly. We got chef shoes and really comfortable wool socks from them. They have really good quality products and they perform repairs in-store. Very impressed and plan to return soon!
I cant believe how quickly my order shipped to me, I received it within 2 days of purchasing! Cant comment on the quality just yet as I just received them, but they look great and are the perfect fit (purchased based on their sizing guide)!
I have bought birks soley from this store for years. This year, right around the vote count time, i bought 2 pairs of winter birks. One a shealing arizona and one a clog mule. Both in black. I wore them inside only and realized that both were not right for my feet. The shealing made my feet slide out the top of the birk, and the clog was too narrow and hurt. I called the store and told the staff member about it. The staff told me that they could not be returned because my foot inprint would be in the insole if i wore them at all-- and could not be returned. $250 down the drain, and what i thought was a great relationship with a local store. Makes me sad-- because i know these people are good folk.

The workers are amazing! They took time to make sure i was sized perfectly and was getting exactly what I wanted. They were also nice and funny and had an interest in me, like the things I do. This is the best place to buy birkenstock’s.
Came in to buy a pair of Lems and left with two. Very helpful staff, clean and tidy store, and very safe interaction (covid safe). Will definitely come back when I need new Lems!
Just bought my first pair of Birkenstocks here and I am so happy I did. I was happy to support an independently-owned shop, and I also had such a lovely chat with everyone there. I wish I could remember the name of the woman who helped me but she was super patient and kind in helping me select a pair that was right for me. I dont know many people who are buying Birkenstocks on a regular basis but I will be recommending this place to everyone possible!
I am new to the minimalist shoe movement and, being in the Toronto, Ontario area, am finding it challenging to find shoes I can try on before ordering. I knew I would be in the Ann Arbor area for a ball tournament with my daughter so, after a quick google search, found Fourth Ave Birkenstock. Although there were several people in the store, the owners ensured they gave me ample attention and assistance by bringing out several types and colours of shoes from the back to see if they could find something for me. They weren’t shy to also suggest items on the sale rack if it could meet my criteria. I ended up finding 2 pairs of shoes, a pair of winter boots, socks and metatarsal pads all at much less than 2 pairs of shoes back home.... EVEN WITH THE EXCHANGE! I will certainly return if I’m ever in the area. Ann Arbor, you certainly have a gem in Fourth Ave Birkenstock!

I was hesitant to go in because I had heard the shoes were expensive and I have a hard time letting go of my hard-earned money. But my friend was sure I would like them. She was, once again, right. When I put them on, I didnt want to take them off! My feet recognized quality workmanship before I did. I wore them out of the store and walked out of Ann Arbor. They pampered my toes and and heels; what I paid was worth every penny and notexpensive. It was a correct price. And they were beautuful. We all enjoy a little beauty in our lives. I am still enjoying it.
Fantastic customer service, and I really appreciated the help finding the shoes I needed. I bought 2 pairs of styles Ive never worn, and Ive been very happy with those choices. Ill be back in the fall!
Had a really bad experience at this store. An order placed in summer never arrived, and when I followed up, it turned out it was sent back to the supplier. When they tried to have it sent again, there were further delays until 5 weeks later, I just cancelled it. I would have overlooked this if any of the employees had ever taken the initiative to follow up, notify me or manage to apologize
Great re- job on my favorite sandals with friendly people, social distancing and a week turn around time. I have forgotten how old these are. They look like new for summer
Very very unimpressed with the ineffieciency of this store. Knowing it is peak season, they do not hire more staff for repairs (they are the only official repair place within 1 hour of Detroit), and their apathetic sales team gave me no other options than a 2 month+ repair window, and offered no solutions. NEVER doing business with them again.
Update: I would recommend anyone buying birkenstocks to try them on for size in store because sizing can be tricky! Service was ok but unfortunately I ordered the wrong size and could not return.
Never bought shoes here, but there are fantastic socks. Pricey, but awesome. Staff very nice, knowledgeable, & make it a point to at least acknowledge you even when they are slammed.
I strive to shop at independently owned stores, shops, & Co-ops as much as possible. This store is somewhat of an exception. Although they carry a widely recognized brand name vs items made/distributed locally, the store itself IS INDEPENDENTLY OWNED, so Im still supporting a local business.

OMG this place is amazing...my mom bought me a pair back in 1994 ish and I wore out the heels to the cork. They fixed them and you cant even tell. My Mom is now gone and these were the last things she bought me before she died. Thanks bunches 4th Ave Birkenstocks!!!!
Just replaced the same pair of Birkenstocks Ive had for almost 20 years. Walked in, picked up a new pair and was out in maybe 10 minutes. Excellent service.

2022-07-24Super Great!!!We came in unknowingly a few minutes before they closed Sunday, the staff were kind in letting us know. We quickly let them know we had a very specific mission, just to try on a size. We were handed the size we were after, from a 50% off selection and left with those on our feet! Great experience. Will be back.❤️

2022-08-26Nothing but positive experiences here! Ordered one pair of Birkenstock Bostons and they came within 2 days! Ordered another pair and accidentally sent it to the wrong address and called them and they fixed it immediately with so much kindness! Unfortunately they called and said my item was out of stock and I said no problem. They said they would put me on the notification list if they got some in stock. The next day they got them in stock and they called me to inform me and we got them ordered! Each employee that I spoke to had so much kindness and patience! Paul is the one name I remember and there was another employee that helped me! Thank you so much! I usually don’t make reviews bud seriously, this is by far the best company that I have ever worked with! I will be returning to this store in the future and most likely in person too!

2022-08-25Informative about the product itself. But when it comes to being hands on like an old fashioned full service shoe store they did not check out where your toe is etc. We had to ask. New shoe buyers wont know what to check for a proper fit. It was college kids working the day we went so Im guessing thats just part of the way things are now.
