Im really glad he asked the questions that he did or we would have been dealing with a two door for loading my MIL into. Thanks Jamen!! The return was super easy, quick and we were just steps away to the shuttle which dropped us off at the airport. We will be a return customer!

Comment: I recently had a terrible experience with Fox Auto Rental, Ontario, CA. My American Airlines flight to Ontario, CA was delayed due to weather conditions by 10 hours. When I finally arrived in Ontario at around 2 am, the Fox Rental Car office was closed. The next day, when I went to pick up the car, I was told that my reservation had been cancelled due to a no-show. I explained them the reason I didnt show up the time it was scheduled, I showed them proof of AA flight delay. Unfortunately, I couldnt afford the vehicles they were pushing me to rent, which included a truck or a SUV ($500-$700 deposit). To add to the frustration, they treated me extremely poorly and blamed me for my flight delay. I didn’t receive a refund. Even after reaching out to Expedia, I still didn’t get a refund. This whole experience cost me money and caused a lot of frustration and headache. My advice to others is to AVOID renting from Fox Auto Rental. They are awful. They deserve ZERO star.

I have a service for my passed uncle I needed to be at on the following day... Lets say from the shuttle driver to the representative at the office Christina I had nothing but amazing service...Not only did I get a fair price, they started a little late to make sure I made this important service. I wont even shop if Im back In town and need a rental! From one business owner to everyone listening....employees make or break a business. Comment: Best value for sure, plus friendly staff and reasonable car selection and upkeep. Just know that it’s so far off the airport that after you take the rental car shuttle, you then have to take a second shuttle to get to Fox (and back to the airport, so leave extra time). Note that you cannot switch drivers from what’s on the reservation (we tried after one of us had a delayed flight), and they will charge you an unexpected (hidden) $6 fee for the shuttle to the airport. It wasn’t mentioned anywhere but shows up on your statement upon checkout.

They first said they need the chip then they said they won’t take the card number for my protection just in case someone steals my card. Comment: I reserved and paid for a rental through Priceline 10 days before pick-up. I requested a Toyota Corolla or equivalent style for 6 days vehicle based on fuel economy and size needs. When I arrived on a Sunday afternoon I was told there wasnt any vehicles that were available that fit my criteria and was offered one of three choices: Jeep Wrangler, black Dodge Challenger, or an ungodly colored red-ish Dodge Charger R/T. None of these vehicles get more than 15-19 mpg in the city, plus the Challenger is a coupe. Because I live locally, I asked if something would be available later in the day. The lady at the counter fumbled around and said there may be something after 6 p.m., but couldnt be sure. Mind you, the lot was full of vehicles that looked like they were on display and ready to rent, but she insisted they werent available. I have been in the automotive business for 30+ years, so I know when a vehicle has been reconditioned for display to the public. If vehicles are truly not ready, they are taken around back to the clean up area. Then it dawned on me what was really happening. Because I had rented through Priceline at an extremely reasonable price, this location did not want to rent the vehicle at that rate and was trying to stuff me into one of their less in demand vehicles. When they have 3 different colored Challengers parked next to each other and they only offer the black one, its easy to figure out what was really going on. I decided to cancel the reservation and get back online with Priceline to renew my search. Coincidentally, this Fox location showed the same vehicle available for immediate pick-up at the same rate as before, but I wasnt going to fall for their scam bait and switch a second time and went with another agency. I had to get in touch with Priceline prior to making the second reservation (for more money), because I still had an open reservation at Fox. When the Priceline rep confirmed the cancellation I mentioned that I couldnt believe that Priceline was dealing with such a flaky agency. The Priceline rep told me that Priceline will credit me the difference between the cost of the initial scam rental and what was paid with a different agency, as long it was an equivalent style vehicle. So, thank you Priceline for making things right. As for Fox, there isnt enough Fs and Us in the Oxford English Dictionary to express my disdain for your business practices.

Comment: Where do I start, we got to this place around 8pm 10 Apr 24, I could tell this place was a step down for a rental car company, it was old and run-down 1st red flag. Their instore policy was different from the online polices another red flag, they want to charge extra for more than one driver 3rd red flag. Service desk was rude and tried to up sale everything. Overall awful experience we end up returning the car within 9 hours and went to the Budget rental car service and received the correct services we required. This company is a joke and their information is misleading was told that that a hold would be $150 however since Im local the hold is $500 yet I have a credit card. When I tell you this place looks like a bootleg Rent-A-Car place it is hilarious. If you don’t have time to read, go ahead and book with Hertz or Enterprise instead!It was rather a horrible decision when I decided to do business with FOX Rent A Car for the first time, and it was certainly my last time. I booked a full-size SUV to pick up from LAX (Los Angeles) for a week, April 8 to April 15.Before booking, I ensured that the car I was booking was 7 seats, Dodge Durango or similar.Upon pick up, I was informed that my car will be a 7 seat Toyota 4 Runner. When I picked it up, I was told that the third row seat is located in the trunk, under the second row seat, but that was not there. Moreover, the car they gave my was very unstable on high speeds, and would violently shake every time I would hit the brakes. I get it that my mistake was that I never double checked if my 4 runner had the 3rd row seats, but the car felt unsafe to drive on highways anyways.Regardless, when I realized these issues, I contacted FOX via phone and spoke with Traci from sales, and asked to have my car swapped to a well-maintained, 7 seat SUV at the nearest location, which she suggested was Ontario International Airport. Traci confirmed with me over the phone that the Ontario location will provide me with a much better car, and that it will be a safer 7 seats Pacifica van. I asked if there will be in additional surcharges, and was told by Traci that there WONT be any additional charges, due to the inconvenience. When I arrived at the Ontario airport (after leaving my friends and family waiting for me to go to San Diego), I was told that they won’t swap my car at Ontario, despite the fact that it was ((((((((((APPORVED)))))))))) by FOX central reservations office.The Ontario branch was full of rude, brilliantly dysfunctional and incapable “employees”, who informed me that they don’t have any minivans (and i could see 5 of them outside), and asked me to go to LAX to swap their broken toy car that I paid for. How bold of them!!!At that point, I didn’t argue at all, as they ALMOST ruined my trip to San Diego, simply due to their debilitating lack managerial skills, coordination incompetencies, and pathetic business model, where a company that is “supposed to respect itself” decides to put their customers last, and focuses on developing an undervalued mindset towards its customer.I begged them very politely once and twice and offered to pay a premium rate to just get my car swapped to a working 7 seats vehicle, which is what I paid for, but no luck! They decided to rely on their undertrained and devastatingly low-paid branch manager to represent their brand image, which simply centralize about being complete, utter, indigestible garbage.Luckily, their big competitor, Hertz at Ontario was there to save the day. They managed to secure me 2024 Black Cadillac Escalade, fully loaded with seven seats, and with a rate that beats Fox’s toy car. I parked Fox’s toy car by the house’s dumpster until the end of my vacation and indulged myself with the lovely Escalade. Oh, and Hertz sent someone to pick it back up from my vacation home when I was done.The moral of the story here is that my review will always pop up among the top ones first because they have upset the wrong Google local guide. Aside from the fact that I will dispute the transaction through my Credit Card, for not receiving the promised goods and services, I hope that a manager from the LA area would reach out to me to make it right, otherwise, you are just better off with a company that is willing to provide you with the customer service you are paying for, like Hertz or Enterprise.

Comment: This rental service is separate from the other major rentals, so you must take a second shuttle to the rental location from the airport. The Fox shuttle was very nice, the driver was great and only took a few extra minutes. Never had to wait around. Location staff was friendly and efficient. No complaints with service. The returning service was even easier and friendlier.My only con was that I had an older model car that did not have a way to intergrate GPS on the dash screen, and no phone holder for my phone. I was in a new place as most people are and I rely on the GPS to navigate. I had to hold my phone to all of my destinations. It would have been very much appreciated to have a phone holder included in the car to help with that.But I would overall use this service again and recommend it to others.

Comment: When we picked up our car, the rental agent told us that if we prepaid for a tank of gas, the unused amount would be credited to us upon return. When the credit didnt appear, I contacted customer service and was told that the prepaid fuel was non refundable. This is country to what we and the 3 families in front of us were told. We listened to the same thing 3 times so there was no way we misunderstood. There is no way to talk directly to the local agency that rented us the vehicle, only the call center in the Philippines.Total lack of ethics, transparency and customer service. We will never rent from them again.

Comment: Do not use this company to rent cars. First, I booked online and prepaid. They dont tell you that you will have a $5p0 deposit and need a credit card though. They also dont have the same policies as their call center if u have questions and call to get answers. So everything the call center said went out the window. I dont have a vresot card. Just debit so my friend had to put the deposit down but that emant making her the driver call center said they could change it at the location. Nope. An extra 25 a day plus 25 a day insurance b/c an adddd drive cant use their own like the primary driver so it cost me over 125 more than I agreed to pay. Then upon returning it, they dont say tk make sure the cars vacuumed. Some dog hair that fell off my book bag on to the seat (very little) and dead grass from my shoes (again not much literally just some that stuck to my shoes from walking across the street to get into the car) had to be vacuumed out or Id be charged $75. They then told me to take it to the gas station at the corner but they dont tell you it costs to vacuum it. I had to use a $2 bill my dad gave me before he died because I had no change/cash on me and,] after paying for the car, not enough to do a cash withdrawal from an atm or the gas station. So now I dont have the $2 bill my dad told me was lucky. I havent lost that or been without it since before he died, over 13 years ago. They dont even care though. The lady shrugged it off. And the other problem with the call center, the manager knows about it but dissent fix anything. I cant dale a bus to work 2 cities over soi had to rent a car. Everything was laid out in the receipt and policies on the sale. They kept saying I used priceline so they couldnt help me or change anything when I spoke to the allc enter again. They also never put notes on my reservation when I called in the morning 3 separate times to ask questions and confirm answers. So the rental place at the airport didnt believe I had even spoken to them.. And since it was a different phone # than their phone # for that desk(but the only phone # Google offers when you search for Ontario airport fox rentals phone number) they basically dismissed what I was saying. So not only did I rent the car in tears and frustrated... I have returned it and lost something that meant a lot to me and left in tears. You think its a good deal but trust me.. It snot worth the hassle. The lies, the misinformation, and the lack of humanity. Im hoping theres a corporate number b/c I cant wait to report this

While we anticipated taxes and fees, the sudden price hike was unreasonable. Even after declining certain charges, we were still billed for them. When we sought correction, the manager dismissed us, displaying poor customer service. Employees appeared distracted, engaging in other conversations instead of focusing on customers, and they shifted blame onto us rather than taking responsibility. This is how they scam customers. Its regrettable when individuals resort to such behavior.

Comment: Great price for a vehicle since it is off airport site. Shuttle bus is nice, you wait for maybe 10-15 minutes which if it was raining would be horrible since it is outside. Check out is simple but I would be cautious, they tell you to go get the car in a designated parking spot. Problem is you just signed the agreement for no damage sight unseen and you then leave, no representative is with you and it is dark so what happens if there is a dent or scratches. The cars are parked so close together you can’t see anything. So fortunately mind was ok but you never know, trust them? Return was easy but they look at every part of the car upon return so hopefully that becomes the basis for the next rental. Extremely nice people at this location, the young man working at night on this day was Aaron and he was very informative and helpful . So overall very good and I would definitely recommend this location at Ontario Airport and would rent again here. Thank you for a stress free rental experience.

Comment: Hassle free rental! The radio didn’t work in our original rental and the sales woman made sure to get us one with a working radio and room for my family, hassle free! The shuttle driver back to the airport also dropped us at our gate as our little one was fast asleep!! The gentlemen cleaning the cars even brought us a scale to make sure our bag wasn’t over weight to fly with!!! Would recommend to anyone getting a car rental and will definitely be using Fox rental again!!

I ask to cancel the reservation and ive been told there is no refound whatsoever, I got stuck with a car i rent for my wife for 3 weeks without her able to drive. I just cant believe it.

Comment: I have been a very satisfied Fox customer for several years now~ I highly recommend them for their courtesy, efficiency, professionalism, cleanliness, services & variety of vehicles... the only down side is trying to reach out to their company with the phone systems... put on hold for a very long time & not really able to solve issues on the phone when trying to order a vehicle, etc. When picking up a car, there is not a local phone number to reach out to their individual office in case it is needed.... Comment: This is the 2nd time this Fox location has squeezed additional charges out of me. The 1st time was January 2023 when the card reader wasnt working. I knew the reader wasnt working because i watched a man have the same issue happen before me, and was calling his card company to figure out why it wasnt working. I had to pay for the deposit and my card declined although it was a company card, it had more than enough funds, and i had used it earlier that day. I asked to swipe it again, but the employee said policy is that they cant run the same card more than once. so i couldnt swipe my card more than once in that order THAT I PREPAID FOR. I argued with the employee ti use another card reader and she kept saying it wasnt the reader, and I had to book a car with another reservation and pay a whole new charge again, with the same card, and it went through because it was on a different card reader. I endee up losing the money I paid for the original booking because they wouldnt listen to me.This week, i prepaid for my car again, but showed up early and there were no cars available. The man at the desk asked if i would be willing to take a Mercedes instead because thats what he had in the parking lot. He stated it was going to be an extra $40. An extra $40 and i get a nicer car? Yea of course Ill take it. BUT, what he didnt disclose was that it was an additional $40 PER DAY. when I noticed this charge it was too late. When i complained about it upon rental return, he took no accountability and kept saying you signed the paperwork. had he properly disclosed $40 ADDITIONAL PER DAY i wouldnt have taken the car and waited for my original pickup time. They also charged me an airport transfer fee, even though i didnt use their shuttles and didnt even go to the airport.I worked retail selling cellphones before for a VERY large provider, and he was no different than my slimy coworkers who tricked customers into adding lines by omitting key words and blamed customers for signing the agreements. I will never come to this location again. They are terrible and based on the reviews, they have a practice of doing this to their customers.

The shuttle driver was very nice but did not drive safely (was on his phone showing pictures the entire time). The office does not operate/open early enough for the early morning flights, walking to the airport or a cab is required for a 0400 drop off to catch a 0600 flight due to the long security line at the airport. The price of the Nissan rogue was very good comparatively to other rentals. The deposit was $150 via Expedia and no issues using two different cards (one for payment and the other for the deposit).

I had my cousin to drop me off after we drove for an hour to pick up the car today and had my driver’s license and credit card on me. I signed the paperwork and then was asked to pay $500 deposit. I handed over my credit card but the chip was not getting read. First, I was not informed that there will be a $500 deposit. And second, the location would not take Apple Pay and the swipe did not work. The attendant told me -with an attitude- that he cannot let me try to use the chip again and he literally said that he made me a favor to let me try it twice.It was the same card I used to pay for the billing but they would not take the card info.I made another reservation under my cousin’s name so that he can add me as an additional driver. The price of the rental car became over $800 instead of $450 for 20 days and they would not still take the card. Bottom line, avoid at all costs.

Comment: I would absolutely not recommend going here to rent a car. They over-charged me extremely over what I had originally paid for. I paid online for the car and the price I got was fine. Then when I came there, they told me I was getting a Smart Car and not a normal car? So I had to upgrade then and there, even though this shouldve been communicated when I booked online. Then they had me add a bunch of extra fees that were not stated in the online order, I ended up paying more than twice what I had already paid online. The woman was named Monica, and it was very hard to understand what all these fees were. She went over it super quickly, and when I asked questions, she did not try to clarify but seemed like she simply wanted me to pay and go. I did not appreciate the lack of transparency from her regarding my fees. Be prepared to pay extra California fees too, especially if you upgrade. Its ridiculous because I had already paid my own states taxes, then they added California taxes. It felt like a scam, and it felt like they didnt care that I was being overcharged. The car itself was fine to drive, but they ended up putting a hold for $500 in my credit card as as placeholder, even though she had said it was only going to be $150. That freaked me out, and when I came back to ask, she acted as if that was normal and that it would be removed, even though I wasnt told that it would be up to $500. The return process was standard, I just disliked having all these questions and no one to help me because it made it seem like they were in it for just the money instead of serving me. Furthermore, the amount in my receipt after I returned the car was different than what my final charge was, so I had to call again and ask what all these extra charges were. Turns out, they are going to add a bunch of California taxes, regardless of if you already paid taxes. Overall, I would not recommend renting from this place, the workers are not transparent and helpful, and you will be charged extremely over what you had already budgeted.

Comment: The first vehicle I received started having issue almost immediately. The brakes started to go out and there was a loud rattling sound coming from underneath the back right off the car. First I was told to sit with the car at the mechanic shop until they fixed it. I told them that was not possible with me having a newborn with me and. I had to drive it 45 miles back to the car rental shop to get a replacement car. They provided me with a replacement and everything was fine from there. I didn’t like the fact that I had to take half a day to go do that though. It took time out of what I had to do while I was in California to prepare for my mothers death.Secondly, after I return the car and received the refund for my deposit, I realize that I was not returned all of the deposit. When I called to find out why they stated that it was for gas fill up. This was incorrect as I had just filled the tank up at the gas station right next door. Then drove the vehicle straight to the car rental. The gas tank was completely full when I returned it. After providing receipts showing that I had filled it up I was refunded that money. Makes me feel as though people that wouldn’t notice will get scammed out of their money for this.The people working the front desk there were very nice and professional. First of all I rented a Toyota Camry. I paid $205.99 for 4 days and made the reservation 3 months in advance. I get to the Fox counter and had to wait in line 40 minutes every single person had some issue. I watched 2 Camrys drive away as I was waiting for my turn in line. I was not late. I get my turn and GUESS WHAT? OF COURSE, NO CAMRY!!! Monica was the person who was at the counter. She told me that they would not honor my reservation from the 3rd party. I lost $205.99, for that. She said, I will make a note in the computer so you can get a refund. It should be no problem getting your money back. She said, Dont give up trying to get your refund. She said that so, I would not leave and go somewhere else. I was already at this place. She told me the only vehicle she had was a SUV. The price was double compared to my original reservation for which she had never intended to have the Camry. Then, I had to pay double for a vehicle I did not reserve and did not want. Now my new total they charged me was $450 for the car rental and $500 deposit. I just want people to know! They will not have the car you reserved no matter what! Comment: On a visit to see my family in October 2023, I made a reservation with Fox Rent a car for an economy car for $24 a day. This would have been a first time customer deal and it would have guaranteed me as a loyal customer for future rentals. I needed the car for 6 days but when I arrived to their location I was informed that my reservations I made 2 weeks before my trip were cancelled. I never cancelled this reservation so how did this happen? and I did not get an email about the cancellation or a phone call or any word whatsoever until I got here needing a car.In a half-effort to rectify my situation, the only cars they had available was either an Audi that was well over $1000 for 6 days, or a Charger for well over $600 for 6 days. So I was left with a bill costing me a minimum of $400+ dollars more than what I was supposed to pay as a first time customer. They had no other options available and the only thing they ended up doing for me was drop me off back at the airport and leave me to figure it out.What kind of customer service is this that they don’t even tell you if there’s a problem with your reservation orSend an email or a text that it was cancelled? I had NO IDEA this happened. They don’t need to confirm with their customers that a cancellation happened? Had I seen any message whatsoever regarding a cancellation I would have called and we could have figured it out.On that note, I do not recommend and I will never again try using this company. This was a major screw up. If I would have been here to visit a family member in the hospital or needed to be somewhere as soon as I could get a vehicle they would have left me stranded completely. We had reserved and booked a Toyota Corolla for a seven day trip with some friends through their own website. At the time I was a young driver and it was my first car rental service. The staff when we went to pick up the car were very friendly and acknowledged it being my first time; they outlined all of the clauses in the rental agreement and made sure we understood what we were signing and paying for, this included the young-driver fee onto the rental. The staff also offered an addition to the service in which we paid for gas through them so that we could return the car to them at less than full and to refund whatever gas was left in the tank, which did save us a bit of money at the end of our trip.During the renting process, the staff was always nice to talk to and they were really engaging with us even through small talk, such as what we were planning to do in the area; the staff also gave us a few local recommendations. When we received the car, we knew that it wouldn’t be in prime perfect condition, as it had scratches from other car renters. We did as advised by some car renters online and took pictures of the exterior and interior of the car before leaving the lot, to ensure that any scratches there were not ours..Upon returning the car we were met with the same friendly faces, and it was a smooth transition into giving the car back to them and being on our way. They had simply turned the car engine and examined the dashboard for the mileage and the gas remaining, and after doing so almost sent us on our way. The staff member was nice to talk us through the importance of hanging onto the receipt of the rental as it contained sensitive information and even advised us to shred it once we get the chance.Overall the staff was very friendly and straightforward, offering helpful advice when they could. The clauses they outline make sense to the service; providing a credit card with you for the rental, the price for damage deposits (which are returned at the end), young driver fees, and fees regarding the gas, etc. My friends and I were pleasantly surprised by our experience here after we did look through the reviews before booking with them. Will definitely come back here when I visit in the future.

According to Google its 1:00 am so I had put down 12:30 as my pick up time. Not sure why this would have allowed me to rent a car when the place would be closing. Not only this, but I got to the airport and tried to find out about the shuttle. Their recorded line let me know it stopped at midnight!!! Not 12:30. So now I was stranded without a car and had to pay $80 for my Uber. I wasnt able to go back for the car as it was so far away and would have cost more.This put a major damper on my trip. Not only is Fox not helpful, they wont refund my money. They werent even open to accommodate my rental, yet they wont give my money back. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! Comment: I was very disappointed in Fox Rent A Car and will never rent a car from there again. We rented a white Toyota Camry that had a horrific stench that smelled like urine or ammonia. When we brought the car back to bring to there attention of the smell they lied and said they didnt smell anything and also manipulated the smell by spraying a deodorizer freshener before the manager could smell the stench. Circumstances did not permit us to trade in the car to another location and we drove back from AZ with a very dreadful drive. All this to say they are not a good company to rent from...Make sure you never rent a white Camry from them and know if you are ever displeased with the service they do not care they will not compensate you at all. They will be told by the traveler and the Government DTS system to not charge for Insurance and other non-refundable charges. When you check out they will mistakenly charge you for the items to include fuel when the tank is full even if you specifically said you did not want these items on your bill. If you do not catch it as you check out which they make very easy to miss you are stuck with the charge. They refuse to remove the charges or simply ignore the traveler after the fact. A formal Complaint with the government is being filed for unscrupulous business practices to get them removed form DTS. It is only $1.00 more a day to use HERTZ.

Comment: I dont understand why this car rental received such a bad rating. Yes, there are a few issues. The first one is that our car has dents and scratches, but they marked all the incidents clearly on the rental document and I was not charged for those upon returning. Their location is not optimal and you need to take two shuttles (from the terminal to the car rental hub, and from the hub to their off-airport office) to reach their office. Because of these issues, they provide better rates compared to their competitors. I think it is what actually counts. Their cars might not look shiny, but they run great. My car survived the 2-week road trip in the desert without any problem.

I had booked a car online, but unfortunately had lost my Credit Card during my layover (probably forgotten on my lunch tray 🤦♂️). I was told that I could not rent a car without a credit card. I explained that I did not have a credit card, but only a debit card, and that I would accept a debit hold if it was available. Despite this, they outright denied my rental and provided me with no alternatives.It is also worth noting during this exchange the staff member I was dealing with was rude, unprofessional, and quite frankly acted like they found my dilemma amusing. Ultimately I was stranded at Fox for two and a half hours until a family member was able to pick me up just before midnight.I understand that credit cards are the most common form of payment for rental cars, but it is not fair to refuse service to people who do not have them. There are many people, especially those in lower income communities, who do not have credit cards, and they should not be discriminated against.I would not recommend Fox to anyone. It would not surprise me if the power-tripping neanderthals who run this establishment regularly rip off their customers, lie, and cheat them out of deposits or outright make up fees and other charges for damages or cleaning on a fleet of what I imagine are already poorly serviced vehicles.If you have read this far I hope it is apparent that I would strongly advise you to rent a car from a different and more reputable company.

Comment: Horrible experience renting a vehicle at this Fox location at Ontario California. The rental was placed online at Priceline and I paid about $180. However, Monica the representative that helped me out 05/22/23 at the Ontario location scammed me. Because the car I requested online wasn’t available, Monica offered a free upgrade for a dodge vehicle but told her that I was uncomfortable with a larger vehicle so dropped it down to Toyota Corolla. She then went through her selling tactics on insurance and I then told her that I already had progressive insurance. After that she said because we didn’t have the car that you originally asked for and didn’t upgrade you to another vehicle I can offer free insurance for the duration of your rental. Free of charge, which was odd because it still said it on the summary of charges. When I questioned the additional $71.97 charge she said don’t worry, it will drop off in a few days. Which it didn’t, at the end of the rental I ended up spending $333.38 which was far more than what I rented the vehicle for online. I then went to drop off the vehicle today at 05/25/23 and Monica of course wasn’t there and was helped by Will who said the manager wasn’t going to be in until 5:30AM and that I would get a call back. Which I still haven’t heard back from anyone at all. When I call customer service they tell me that there is no direct number to the rental office in Ontario. I’m very disappointed with how this rental company does business. They scam you and try to use tactics to make it seem like they’re taking care of you but at the end of the day they’re just trying to play you. Not only that but the car that I rented reeked of cigarettes. How when there are $250 fines all over the car for smoking. DO NOT RENT FROM HERE!

No problems with the shuttle and the car was ready for pickup at the time that we arrived. No hidden fees or pressure to add insurance. No pressure to upgrade because I had prepaid for the rental. No issues returning the car. Deposit was refunded to my account within a couple of days. I took off one star because the car smelled like weed inside and it was slightly beat up, lots of big scratches and the bumper was coming off the hinge on the passenger side. We did follow all of the rules and regulations as stated in the contract and we had no issues at all. Tip: they only accept credit card and it must match the name on the reservation. Comment: Other than the vehicle itself, the experience of renting a car at this facility was horrendous, by far one of the worst in my recent experiences. There was no clear sign where the guest parking was. There were no greetings upon arrival (not that I was looking for it, but it would have been a common courtesy like any other place). The waiting for talking to someone took about half hour, then renting process took about another half hour.I reserved a 7-seater van online which was confirmed, and I took the printed reservation letter to show them. After few minutes of looking at their system, the service desk personnel informed that they were overbooked for the van, and the system shouldnt have allowed me to book it at the first place. How was it my problem, it still boggles my mind - when their own system confirmed my reservation with a confirmation number. Then they went on to offer me a 7-seater Ford Expedition SUV instead, or else I might not even get any car at all. I kept on telling them that I could see few vans parked there and I had to have a van for my elderly parents and in-laws who would have hard time getting into the back seats of a SUV if I had gotten a SUV instead. After refusing their multiple pressing offers to take SUV instead, they finally agreed to give me the van I that reserved for with a condition that I returned the van that same very night (within few hours), which I verbally agreed.Since I would return the van within 4 hours, I requested if I could park my own car in their guest parking, I was told I couldnt as they would tow my car if it was parked longer than 2 hours. The service person suggested that I parked my car in the nearby hotel (paid parking) then walk over to this facility to get the van.As promised, I returned the van at 11 pm that night (although on paper I could have rented for 24 hours). The weather was unbelievably cold that day (April 3, 2023) and was windy. We pleaded and requested few times that if they could just drop us off to the hotel parking across the street, where we had parked earlier, we would be really grateful. They refused. We walked in the freezing temperature for 10 minutes where it would have been only 2 mins of driving for them to drop off.I made a promise to myself that I would never rent from this Fox Rental ever again. There are other rental place where I can at least have a piece of mind.(Wish I could record the entire episode of renting the van from this place so others could believe me. But Im sure they have surveillance cameras where they recorded it).

Comment: Monica and Gilbert are the epitome of excellent customer service. Buy the gas they offer....it is less or at market of what is offered in nearby gas stations. While this facility is about a mile or so from the Airport, their shuttles are clean and on time, the drivers are safe. They rent older vehicles than most, my Kia had over 60,000 miles on it, you would never know by the appearance and handling of the vehicle. When I went to return it their was dog hair in the back seat. I didnt have my dogs in the vehicle, it must have come from my sons blanket or clothing, they asked me if I wanted to go vacuum it out at a gas station if not it was going to cost $75 for detail. When asked about it, I was told it was the security deposit (which in my case was almost the exact same amount as the $150 deposit). I should have nixed that on the spot and called BS, but unfortunately didnt. Want to talk to the rental location? Sorry, all gone through a central office, oh and theyre only open normal business hours, no weekends. The rental wasnt cleaned very well either, found old pieces of food on the floor and stuff under the seats. Id highly suggest renting from a reputable, on airport, company.

I have two problems with his conduct.#1 He saw I had not selected an insurance option and tried to sell me one of there three tiers of insurance on the car as if it was their only options. I very adamantly declined and very bluntly stated, You are offering me these three options like there isnt a fourth. I am taking the fourth option of NO INSURANCE. My insurance for my primary coverage covers rentals as well. I remember very specifically signing the I have declined insurance on the contract terms. I even made a comment again that it wasnt cool to try and pitch it w/out mentioning its optional and he had responded lets just move on.I find out after all is said and done, even after I paid less than the amount I prepaid, that I am hit for an additional $18 after the fact because he claimed I totally agreed to insurance.The whole charge should have been $234 and change. I paid $234 plus an additional $18 on a rental that on paper was a final total $230.21 after the additional charge.I specifically declined all insurance options and they still are trying to sneak this on there.#2 He tried to upsell me to a hybrid claiming it would have saved on gas over the base rental since you are driving to vegas it would be cheaper overall. He claimed, specifically, it would save me money overall. The hybrid *would have been* an additional $32 a day for 36MPG vs 20MPG. I was renting for 5 days so an additional $160.00 to the bill.Even if gas was $5.00 everywhere, I would have to drive 1440 MILES at minimum to save $160.00. Vegas is only 472 miles round trip.I am especially frustrated because I was originally going to leave a better review because I get offering insurance and offering upgrades is part of the job and the hustle of renters. However after discovering the snuck in charge after specifically and unequivocally declining ALL insurance coverages offered, I am calling out all concerning points experienced.Called in already to resolve. Will update review with update afterwards.

Comment: Found a good deal here on Priceline. They upsold me on a Hybrid for a family road trip but saved me a bundle on the miles. Staff was very friendly and treated me well. Fox made transportation taking my family from Ontario to UC Berkeley along the coast so fun and cost effective. The kids wanted to buy the Sienna mini van we rented. Comment: Fox rental car is located 2.2 miles from the main Ontario Car Rental facility. The rental prices are cheaper but you have to work for it. Take the shuttle to the main rental facility, then if you are facing the facility, walk to the last shuttle stop on the right. A Fox shuttle will pick you up and drive to their facility.Once you get there, there seems to be some bargaining for cars, as they really dont know which cars will show up when. I pre-paid via expedia,. The friendly staff member tried his best to get me a car close to what I booked but it took 30 to 40min to find the right one. I refused the Jeep Wrangler which I dont like driving.The Kia ended up being just fine and better than the Budget rental I had a few weeks ago which beeped the entirety of 24 hours because of a malfunctioning sensor. I didnt have the time to return it as I was going to an appointment.Overall, Id use Fox again because the cost of car rentals right now is ridiculously high. Just be ready for the wait and extra hassle. Nothing is free.

I decided to give them a try because they had the lowest price but that ended up being a huge mistake and a headache.After reading all the reviews, there seems to be a pattern in their business: 1) give customers the oldest cars with the most mileage (with questionable safety) and charge them huge fees when they supposedly upgrade your new rental for free or 2) give conflicting info so that you get charged late/early fees when returning vehicles or 3) charge insurance/misc. fees, after you receive your receipt in the e-mail to make it impossible to dispute in person if you dont live nearby.Arguing with the agents at this location was a complete waste of time because they lied through their teeth (dont take my word for it, read the other reviews). Honestly, Im embarrassed that I fell for their ploy in the first place. They were very slick and super friendly, assuring me that there werent going to be any extra fees. When I called corporate office to complain, they were finally willing to offer me a refund. However, that refund was only half of the extra they charged.....in store credit (like Im ever going to rent with them ever again).Do yourself a favor: really research why their rentals are so much cheaper than others and youll see why. The shuttle takes a very long time to pick you up from the Ontario airport. Once we arrived, I provided my license and card, but they did not accept it. I did not have my other card on me, so my friend had to make a new reservation with his information. ALSO! Before that, the employee said that they no longer had the car I had oroginally reserved. So, we make a new reservation, and got charged double the original price. It also took about an hour for them to process the information.We arrive to return it, they tacked on a late fee. Shuttle runs from airport to main rental car offices and then you have to take another shuttle from there to Fox’s location. Takes total of 20min each way. Comment: Be advised, there is NO AFTER HOURS drop-off at this location! There is no key drop and no flexibility. I found this out after I was already committed to my rental. My flight out of Ontario was at 5:30 AM and they will not accept returns before 6 AM. They would not allow me to change or cancel my reservation without a fee. Their solution was that I can drop off the car up to 24 hours early without being charged a fee (i.e. return the car the night before). So I changed all my plans, returned the rental 9 hours early, and paid for a hotel when I had originally planned to stay with a friend for free and drive to the airport early. Despite all this, they still charged me a $20 early return fee.Also fun fact, they are not located at the rental car center. You have to take two shuttles from the airport to get to this location.I am giving them 2 stars (instead of 1) because there was no line when I got there, the customer service was good (despite giving me incorrect information), and the price was reasonable (not great, but reasonable). If they had a key-drop (like every other rental car location in the US) and if they sent the shuttle to the airport, I would have given them 5 stars.

The representative didn’t check the dents that the car already has.We were told that we would get charged extra if we make any dents to the car. Comment: The jeep we rented was satisfactory. The pick up was slow but fine. The drop off was another story entirely. I have rented cars for the last 40 years and never been treated like this. We had been to a house in the mountains with teenagers. We spent time at the lake and mountain biking. When we got out of the car to drop it off, we were warned that we would be charged extra for cleaning. They also suggested that we take the car down the road to a car wash and vacuum it. They also said sometimes the sand is hard to get out. I guess they thought we were more qualified than they were. It took my wife and I less than 2 minutes to throw away a few things and shake out the floor mats. They watched us do that. When we asked why they couldn’t vacuum out the car we were told that it was excessive. I expressed that it was easy clean up, nothing was spilled etc. I was told by the agent that in fact it was considered excessive. The attendant continued to argue. The manager said we would not be charged but he concurred with the policy. It was the worst customer service I have ever experienced at a rental car business, maybe the worst anywhere. Comment: First time renting from them. Really nice cars they have a few strange policies that I dont really get. They wont accept debit card from locals as the deposit card but will for people that are out of town. If your card gets declined twice you cant use them again in 24 hours and they cancel your reservation which you cant make another reservation at the desk you have to go out of the parking lot and make it on your phone, that one I thought was a little weird. Woman was totally nice though and staff was very helpful. Theyre very efficient intend to get you out on the road very fast car was really clean and will definitely use them again.

Comment: In general, I cant complain about the rates or the cars but the stars of this location are Josh and Mohammed (who I would give 5 stars). Josh does it all and they both always have a polite and respectful demeanor, no matter the customer. I rented several times here, and even when I looked like a bum, they never made me feel less. They represent FOX well and their customer service is priceless. As a consumer, I value customer service just as much as the product, if not more, so they definitely at value to FOX. It would be great if FOX accepted credit cards that dont have a chip or at least update it on the website (if they havent already) so people would know ahead of time.

Comment: Please be aware that this company is fraudulent. I rented a car and they took my card info when I picked it up for a hold deposit of $150, I saw it on my bill the day after I dropped it off .I called their billing department which took over an hour to get an answer. When they looked into my account they said they charged me the $150 because I had upgraded to a midsize SUV ??!!! Which was false, when I picked up the car they never mentioned anything about an upgrade they just handed me the keys. Please pay more and go to well known companies. This company is doing shady business to make up for their discounted prices.Their customer service at the location was great but other than that the business itself is not good. I will never rent with them again.

Comment: Fox car rental and Priceline both Reported misleading business hours 5am to 12am. Fox rental car won’t let me return the car at 5am per per their reported business hours. I have to catch a 6:40am flight On 11/28/20. Fox car rental changed their new hours without any notification 6am -12am. Priceline itinerary says 5am to 12am. Instead I was forced to return a car a day 11/27/20 in advance/for early return. Plus I had to rent another car to cover up for my extra day rental. Drove 45 miles to the Fox rental airport Location a day before and drove back another 45 miles back where I was staying with my new rental with Hertz. Spent almost 4 hours of my time to return that car a day before due to misled information. On the top Fox rental car screwed up my rental contract by closing it on 11/22/20 and doesn’t know how to fix it, my credit card being illegally overcharged by Fox rental car despite my reservation was pre paid to Priceline. Fox Rental car have not fixed the charges.Worst nightmare of my rental experience.Scary part Fox car rental has given us a car with retrofit faulty seatbelt for middle back seat, my child ended up using that seatbelt and locked him self and almost chocked him to death from waistline to his chest. Seatbelt won’t disengage from the latch holder ... we had to rush home to rescue my child from this situation by unbolting the seatbelt.Misleading information, lost of time and faulty seatbelt, plus extra day to pay for car rental. $210.58 + $ 53.37 = $264I called multiple times to Fox Rental Car customer service Manager and Priceline and complained about their counter hours and defective car rental no action or resolution been given to resolve unscrupulous practice by Fox Car rental company.Please avoid doing business with Fox Car Rental, their location is inconvenient from the Ontario airport you have to take two shuttles buses to reach to their counter location.Solve your customers problems and issues created by your terrible service you have provided. Don’t give out pre prepared template responses to your customers.

Comment: 1st i want to say I had a rather bad experience at Fox rent a car.I obtained the vehicle from Las Vegas and drove to California for my job.My boss requested me to stay So I had to request an extension on my vehicle... I had nothing but issues called 3 times waited on hold and there was no success.After the 3rd time someone called me back and told me I would have to go into a Fox rent a car locationAfter I came to this location the manager met with me and completely fix the problem and also was able to release a security deposit that exceeded normal amounts.I cannot express the gratitude I have for their professionalism and integrity at this location... They have kept a loyal customer.

Comment: Best prices. Nice people. Been using FOX for years. In different city’s. Low price low expectations. Good cars. Not detail clean inside but for the price... I don’t mind. Was able to book online and get my car within 2 hours. Be prepared it’s inexpensive don’t expect on site quick service. No fancy building. No fast shuttle. No fast service. Long wait times on phone. Pay extra for every add on. (I say no to all). Be warned all rental car co. put a deposit on a credit/Debit CARD it takes at least a week to come off your Card. READ THE CONTRACT. Be prepared no rush here. Late night drop off took a long time. Time is money. If you want fancy, fast, easy, quick spend the big money elsewhere. Thanks for being here FOX. My tight budget always appreciates you.

Comment: This is a SCAM. Be careful, there is no shuttle from airport to the car rental facility so NO Fox shuttle from the airport. We had to pay $50 in Uber ride. Then it become useless and bothersome to use them rather than the perfectly convenient Hertz facility located by the terminal. DO NOT choose Fox!
