Went in today for a tour, had all intentions of joining (Live right in the area) After my encounter with the front desk worker, will not be back.I agree with others in these reviews, the older lady at the front desk was totally rude and not fit for a greeter or customer service. I Went on the tour anyway, then explained to the lady who did the tour of how unprofessional the lady at the desk was, being she the tour lady, was what appeared to be part of supervision. She did not even care, nor did she ask, If I would like to speak with anyone to resolve the situation. I actually told her several times of the encounter and situation that happen, she really did not care. The tour was conducted very well and a nice place, But the place is only as good as its workers. When a person takes time to come in off the street and visit your establishement, with the intention of forming a long term gym membership, they should be treated professionally and with respect. With a staff like they have, I would not see this place lasting long. Also when I walked out to my car another lady stopped me and explained the rudness she encountered at the front desk by the YMCA workers.
This was our first time at the new facility. We walk in and they scan my card and immediately start talking amongst each other. I asked if there was a problem and they said my payment declined for December. They acted annoyed that my payment got declined. We have been members for years and never had a problem with a payment so I was a bit confused as we had plenty of money in our account. We offered for them to run it again, or we could pay cash or even pay with a different account. My toddler was getting impatient so I asked if my husband could take them in while we resolved the issue since I had many other forms of payment I could use. She rudely said no. Ten minutes go by and a different employee finally admits that when the new facility opened they were having issues across the board with payments. So I got treated like I was in the wrong for the last ten minutes because why?!. They finally let my husband and kids start to swim as I stood there for over 20 mins reregistering as a Y member even though we have been members for years. We finally get to start swimming and are swimming 25 mins before they tell us they do not have their chemical levels correct and they were closing the pool early. So than we try to go to the gym instead. They closed this early too! We were very unsatisfied with our first visit and my kids were pretty bummed out. I hope their staff gets friendlier and overall they get more organized.
Very helpful and informative staff! I was impressed. I went in to get a pamphlet on pricing for membership and the secretary was more than willing to answer all my questions in detail. Any pamphlets they didnt have out already she went out of her way to print for me, i didnt even have to ask. The area we saw was clean and organized. There was coffee for the adults and popcorn for the kids. What im most excited about is that they offer child care on certain days of the week while the parent works out in the fitness room. That alone was enough to convince me to join. The friendly staff and free coffee is definitely a plus though! Also going to look into getting myself and my kids enrolled in Black Dragons Den, the karate academy that bases out of there.
My kids sign up for just about every sport they offer. Feels like we live here at times lol. Fingers crossed that tumbling comes back. If you want to sign up but werent sure if your kiddos were ready, the instructor is very patient, works well with kids and very skilled in the sport
A significant part of my youth was spent in YMCAs. I doubt if any such facility achieves perfection. The YMCA has a national and international administrative and bureaucratic structure. Professional staffers will rotate in and out of facilities. Thus, the quality of the overall gestalt of each local Y may reflect the inevitable bend towards mediocracy, much as is reflected in society. With this being said, the Lenawee County YMCA is not a bad place to go. The mission of the YMCA is to provide the benefits of Christian oriented activities, without overt proselytization, within the constraints of its budget, and the perceived marketing context of the community. This YMCA seems to have achieved success within the above stated goals.

2022-03-17Completely apauled by the conduct of member services. Took money after membership was canceled. Renee was rude and condescending on phone. Never called or returned calls to set up assessment with family to use machines.

2021-12-20I like it but what brings it down is the people in the pool. They are really rude to people of all ages. And I feel like they even pay attention to the pool. You see them on their watch or looks like their about to pass out. Other then that my kids enjoy the pool its self.

2021-10-03I love walking into this place! I am greeted warmly by the front desk staff each time I visit. The equipment is up to date and in good working condition. Every area of this building is clean, from the bathroom/showers to the pool, to the gym and weight room. This YMCA is the best thing that has happened to this town in years!

2020-12-12I really like the YMCA. Very nicely done. People of all ages work out there. Everyone is very respectful in Cleaning the equipment when finished. Pool is limited to 5 persons at this time. Most people leave it for the kids. Sauna is obviously not open.

2021-04-08Many of the reviews listed here are outdated. The new facility is very nice and the staff is helpful and friendly. I joined mainly for group fitness classes. I have attended several of them and have enjoyed each one. At present, classes are limited in number, due to Covid, and they get full. Hopefully more classes will be offered as we get back to normal, as I suspect many more members will join.
