I have used this business for many years to repair my brakes. They are professional, efficient and honest. It’s one of the few auto repair businesses I am relaxed at for these very reasons. The absolutely BEST place to have brakes done. I’ve had many cars over the years and they have repaired all of the brakes when the time came.
These guys were awesome. Walked me through a false ABS engage and we squared up repairs. Haven’t had an issue since. Would definitely recommend these guys.**Second trip here:Needed suspension, they were quick and helpful. Will definitely keep bringing my vehicles here. Can’t say enough about a company that does honest work for a fair price.
My dad usually takes care of all of my car needs, but he couldnt this time. He reccomend Freds, stating how he trusted them over any other place near Rochester. I took my car in, and they were extremely professional, very honest and upfront with the price (which I also thought was a great price for all the work I needed) and quick to service. Cant recommend Freds Brakes enough! I have been here twice for brake and wheel bearing services, and both times were great. The first service they were able to work with my schedule and I was able to come the next morning to pick up my car. The second, most recently, was perfect timing with my schedule! All around, Scott and his team provide efficient, quick, and trustworthy brake services. Thank you so much, Scott, and I plan on coming back for anymore issues with my cars brakes!

After reading the reviews of various businesses in my area, I liked what I read about Fred’s Brakes. The fact they’re a small shop, independent and have been in business for 40 years impressed me as well.Taking my car in for repairs is always a nerve wracking experience. You just don’t know what to expect as far as repair and cost if you don’t know exactly what the problem is. You’re putting your vehicle into the hands of people you hope will be honest, conscientious, excellent mechanics, professional and thorough. You’ll find all of that at Fred’s.Trusting the reviews, I took a chance with Fred’s. I called the shop to see if I needed to make an appointment. Without hesitation, Scott told me to bring my car in although there were customers ahead of me.Not long after I arrived, Scott was able to assist me, had my car on the hoist and got right to work. He and his son, Rob, were thorough, gave me their diagnosis and with my approval, fixed the problem. They worked together, Scott and Rob each test drove my car, making sure they knew what they were dealing with based on what I told them. They then took all the wheels off my car for a thorough inspection, not just based on what I told them or the test drive. Steve also assisted at this point. After the repair, Rob again test drove my car to make sure all was well and I could leave with a safe driving car. The bill was lower than I anticipated (you all know the dreaded feeling in unknown costs for car repairs) and their professionalism and honesty are so much appreciated. Scott let me know ahead of time that further repair may need to be done but after fixing the problem completely, they didn’t tell me I needed other repairs. Honest mechanics.I’ve learned they do more than just every aspect of brake repair.They offer other services as well.I’ll be using these professionals again.Take your vehicles to Freds Brakes. You’ll be happy you did.
Freds is definitely a 5 star place. Their honesty, service and prices are outstanding!I was told by my dealership that my car needed high dollar work. Scott and the team examined the areas the dealership claimed needed replacement. They not only didnt try to get me to do that work at a lower price, but informed I didnt need any of what I was being told. They are that honest!Any service (they do more then just brakes) they do for you will be top quality and reasonably priced. Freds is the best place to go!
Ive used Freds Brakes any number of times over many years, and have always found them to be truthful, reliable, and reasonable in cost. All repairs have been performed quickly and Ive never once had a follow-up issue with any work that theyve done for me. Freds is a terrific shop and I recommend them, without reservation.
Very transparent and upfront about their pricing when I called; still called right before they actually did the work once they got to look at my car to confirm the amount was still good with me. Got my car in and out quickly well within the timeframe they quoted me and called me (twice, a respectful 20 minutes or so in between because I didn’t answer) to let me know my car was ready. Would definitely go again when needed!
I had a rough time with a dealership about a repair that seemed simple, but they wanted to charge me almost $1K. I explained the situation to the guys at Freds Brakes and was assured that they could handle the job and do it for less cost. The towing of the car away from the dealership to Freds was a fiasco, but thanks to the guys at Freds, they provided solutions to make it happen. The repairs were 1/3 of the cost of the dealership, the service and communication was courteous and timely, and I picked up the car same day. I would definitely use them again.
What a great find! My sister recommended Freds Brake Service as an alternative to the car dealership and the many brake franchises that are out there. Friendly and knowledgable, they got me in and out quickly, the workmanship was excellent and the price was fair. Reminds of the auto garages my Dad took me to when I was a kid. I have always gotten great, same day service with the best price and the best quality parts. Freds Brakes cares for your car as if it was their own. You will not find a more honest establishment.
I dropped my van off Friday morning asking if today was possible. They said they had a full schedule and would see what they could do. They called later that afternoon saying the van was done. I was very grateful three were able to get it done before the weekend. They are also cheaper than those big garages.
Ive had 3 cars into Freds now for brakes. Its not just the great job they do, its the honesty you receive from the staff. Trust means a lot to me when it comes to my familys cars (especially brakes). I trust Freds to give me a fair price for quality work.
They did a really good job on the front brakes of my Hyundai Sonata, for a very reasonable price. Entire process took less than 2 hours. I would definitelycome back for future needs.
Ive never had such a great experience with any auto service or repair shop in my life. Called and got a quote on the phone to have my brakes done and they got me in the same day for a very reasonable price and also helped me out with fixing another minor repair issue on the vehicle while I was there. Highly recommend using them for any service on your vehicle.

These guys are fraud, all other reviews were fake it seems. Fred, is very rude. They have very nice technique, here it is. First they will remove all wheels for brake inspection and he will come up with quote which is 150% higher than others (Sears Auto, Bell Tire, Midas and Firestone), obviously the customer will not be happy with that ridiculous prices. If we are not happy with their prices and you are not willing to go ahead with them, he will start blackmail like you will be charged $50 dollars if you don’t want go with us. At the end, if you go to this shop, you will be end up by paying 50 bucks without any service, this is what they are calling inspection. It is 10 minutes job and it is free of cost if you go to other vendors like Sears auto, Midas or Firestone. Of course, if you go ahead with them to save these 50 bucks, it is 150% extra than others. If you say no, his behavior changing and he is soo rude. This is my experience today with them. Please do not stop at this shop.
The gentlemen at Freds are wonderful! I was in the area for an event and experienced vehicle problems. Most local shops wouldnt talk to me let alone help me at 4:30 on a Friday. The staff at Freds were able to help me and check my vehicle out despite it being the end of the work day. The safety of me and my family was obviously important to them. I would highly recommend them!

Freds replaced all four rotors and brake pads and had everything finished for me in 3 hours. The price was definitely competitive especially for the convenience of having my car all finished in such a short amount of time.
I found Freds Brakes through a google search and I am glad that I did. They were able to get me in for service the same day I called and saved me a few hundred dollars from a popular chain.Scott was very informative and provided me updates until the work was completed. Not that I am looking forward to having brake trouble in the future, but if I do, I will return to Freds.
Great price and customer service. I was having problems changing a part on my suspension and they were capable of getting it fixed within an hour and a half with no problems.

Found Freds a few years ago and have had 3 of my cars in for brakes. This is the first set of brakes on my Town and Country that have lasted over 25,000 miles, including the originals. Fair prices and same day service.
I had my Silverado in for a complete brake job, front and back.Rear drums, calipers, rotors, wheel cylinders, self adjusters, all Truck and Tow heavy duty parts. Very pleased with price, service, labor and timeliness.Only place I would take a vehicle for brakes.
BEST place to take your car when there is a problem! These 2 guys are the most genuine and down to earth mechanics I have ever met. They are honest and will give you a fair price on exactly what is going on with your car.I had to write these guys an amazing review after Belle Tire almost completely ripped my wife and I off after Belles safety inspection supposedly showed that my struts were leaking and the sway bars were worn out (just replaced last year) and that their recommendation would be replace the entire unit as a whole (struts, mates, and sway bars) and to do it soon as the car may become non-driveable. I work medical so I got a second opinion from my boys at Freds that Ive used before and they gave me a COMPLIMENTARY inspection and found that NOTHING was wrong with my car at all (even went for a drive)! Normal wear and tear was found. They were appalled that Belle Tire would make such a recommendation, as am I.These guys deserve all the business and respect that they have shown me time after time.

2022-06-14I have taken my car and my wifes car here several times for brakes and suspension. They have always very friendly, competent and reasonably priced. WAYYYYY better prices than what the dealership charges. I would recommend them to anyone with brake or suspension issues.

2022-07-07I had my brakes done at Fred’s 30 years ago. Since then I have never went anywhere else. SCOT is the best brake man that I’ve had the pleasure of knowing. 2021-07-06Dropped off my vehicle with front brake and suspension issues and they called me back about 2 hours later with a diagnosis and a detailed quote with labor + parts costs. The brake fluid, front brakes/rotors and front sway bar were replaced within a couple of hours and my car performs like new again. Amazing, timely work with a reasonable cost and will give them my business again in the future if any more issues arise. Mechanics were very friendly every step of the way and will always try to help out in any way possible.

2022-01-12This place should call customers who have set appointments when they decide to close due to Covid. I wasted my time driving here . Messed up my morning, thanks! Not just put a sign on front door. Plus no voicemail.They have done good work for me in the past but someone should have keys to update a voicemail and be able to call customers with set appointments.

2020-09-17Fred’s brakes is the best and most honest mechanics in the area. First time, dealer told me $1,100 for brakes, including an unneeded repair. Fred’s Brakes was around $500. Recommended a friend where the dealer said they needed major repair. Fred’s Brakes explained that it isn’t needed and they performed some tightening. Last week, another repair shop told us $1,300 for brakes all around on a Porsche. Fred’s did it for $900. I wish I could use them for everything. But I do use them for brakes, shocks, and any front end steering. Most honest shop.
