Its OK, very limited sitting outside but nicely maintained grounds.Service less than adequate, vine not chilled and vine chillers not available. They offer cups filled with ice but people go to the vineyards to taste the vine not water down juce.I guess when the investment group buys this originally well intended businesses (round barn, free run and one more) the service and overall culture of the business goes to hell.I guess thats the natural characteristics of the big corp, money counts and nothing else. Sad.
My girlfriends and I spent the day exploring the wineries of the area and stumbled upon this serene winery. Our amazing sommelier, Morgan R., completely exceeded our expectations on every level and made this wonderful vineyard a must revisit on our list of places. Highly recommended. Thank you Morgan for making our little group feel so very special.
It is considerably smaller than Tabor Hills (which is apparently their sister cellar?). Personally I like sweeter stuff and found their tasting menu lacking in that regard, but my friend enjoys dry wines and she really liked the wines she got to taste. Given that is a smaller location it has a more private feel to it and the views while sitting outside sipping wine are just beautiful.
We went to free run after a recommendation from round barn. We did the 20/person food and wine tasting. I love food and a cook at ton and my SO loves wine. The experience was 4 wines that the chef prepared bite sized complimentary snacks to accent the wine. The wine was poured first to allow a taste or two prior to each course.I am now a believer in food accentuating wine for sure. Ever dish really enhanced each wine and vice versa. The experience was totally worth 40 bucks. The outside seating was cute as well.
Tabor Hill, Round Barn and Free Run are all owned by the Moresh group, all are favorites of mine! Everyone is super friendly including the owner who we randomly met while there. Liked the live music as well! Well be back for sure to enjoy your awesome wines. TH Cranberry is the best!!!
Tasting menu is not an option. Your choose a full glass or half glass. The service was very slow...Ordered appetizers and waited over 30 minutes. Then when we inquired the server had no idea what we ordered. Wine is also very expensive compared to other area wineries. The outside sitting area is very relaxing.
A true experience of beauty, peace, and relaxation! Dont bother with Dablo, Domaine Berrien, or especially Round White Barn. I visited them all and this place just pulled me in. Exactly what I wanted from the wine to the meat and cheese board. You have to experience the patio on a sunny, breezy day! This place is the epitome of what a winery experience should be. Ill be back!

2021-08-22My wife and I came to the area for our anniversary, and Free Run was the favorite winery we visited. Morgan was super gracious to us and we loved the cozy intimate surroundings. The grounds were amazing and it immediately became a special place that we will definitely be coming back to!

2022-05-05Nice sangria options. Generous pours for tastings and you can try options from all three properties.

2018-05-06Hands down, the best wine in this region of Michigan! We went based on Google review recommendations for the food pairing. They no longer do the $20 pairing deal, nor do they offer tasting pours (a little strange). We were very hungry, so decided to just get a few apps with the suggested half glass pours. BEST... CHOICE... EVER!The food was delicious and each and every wine was amazing! We enjoyed our food/drink on the quiet, beautiful patio out in the warm sunshine. The chef came around to say hi and deliver creative flowers made from carved veggies and green onion stalks (cute touch).I love dry wines and this place delivered! If you are a foodie and love dry wine, this place is a must. It adds up and was a little expensive, but some experiences are worth it. I would love to order more wines from here throughout the year! Highly suggest this place!

2021-05-17Morgan is the best!!!! She remembered my mom and I from our last visit. Love the place and the wine. Will go again, despite the 2+ hour drive.

2022-01-16Free Run has become our home base for the Michigan Wine Trail. The landscape, the staff, and the wine are the experience that we look forward to anytime we have an opportunity to make it out to the area. Thank you to Morgan for educating and entertaining. Can’t wait for our next visit. Here we are 4 months apart🥰

2021-10-19The servers were smiley and so nice- wine was fun (our picks were a bit on the acidic/bright side), space and patio are small but comfy! It was the perfect spot until 10 drunk idiots showed up and there wasn’t anywhere to escape the echoing chaos. Also, the charcuterie plate looked very nice (and so did the restrooms). Chickens were a bonus. We’ll be back on a quieter day!
