I purchased a couch here about 6 months ago, and the fabric has pilled and frayed so badly since then. It has had very low activity/use as it’s only me using it for nightly tv watching. I am extremely disappointed. Quite frankly, its unacceptable. For spending over two thousand dollars, I expected it to hold up much better and longer. A man came out to look at it and before even looking at it, said, “There’s nothing that can be done for normal wear and tear/cosmetic issues.” This is not normal. Not sure why he even came if he wasn’t planning on providing a solution. He admitted that it was really bad and looked like his couch that is TEN years old. My point exactly! He used a fabric shaver on it, which I’ve done before, but it keeps coming back. He mentioned that all the drivers carry one, so I’m assuming this is a common issue. He suggested putting a blanket or cover over it, but Ive also tried that and the friction made it worse. I just spoke with someone else and they said its not a defect, which by definition is, a fault or failure to meet a certain standard, which is exactly this. Im disappointed to say I will no longer be shopping here or recommending it to others.
Bought a mattress and had questions about it that I wanted answered before delivery. Called times to speak to my salesman and was told he was with a customer. Left 2 messages for him to call and never received a call. On the basis of this I would not recommend Gardner White.,
My husband, myself and our one year old went to buy a couch in Rochester Hills. I had already come by myself, and had Dev the district design manager help us, so I knew we wanted a custom century couch in high performance Crypton fabric. A sales person passed us to the store designer. The blond designer had no knowledge of the different levels of cushions. She had to keep referencing books and calling the manufacturer. She did not know the cushion levels on the floor samples not the difference in materials. She could not tell us about the cushion back levels either. After a half hour of asking her questions with confusing or no answers, we asked if there was someone in the store that knows the product and could help us. Nope So, we left. What a waste of our time . This was of course after she complained that we were “insulting” her. Please fire her before she costs you more business.
Sales team was awesome and made the buying experience very easy and smooth as this was my first time buying furniture. I would have given 5 stars however, it’s now almost an hour and a half past the end of my delivery window and it’s about to start storming. I would like to enjoy my furniture tonight d try and not soaked in rain but that may not happen. I guess we may be sitting on the floor in our living room tonight if they no show.
Great experience while you are shopping. Absolutely poor once they have your money.I tired changing my mattress delivery on the day of delivery. The delivery team said I should go to the store. So we went there right once they left and they promised to help out. Left my contact and no response. Called back 2days later, no response. We back in person 3days later, they made me wait for 30mins...took my details and promised I would get a call back.So grateful I only got 1 item from them. Have to furnish the rest of the house with a better company.Agent I dealt with is Lucas Lord.

The wait was quite longAnd my husband and I were ready to walk.Nancy FINALLY finished the transaction. We won’t be back unless it’s really necessary!
Both of the people I worked with were very helpful and patient as I looked for a new mattress. The only issue I had was when I started with one salesperson and that person was called away because another customer had asked for her. Another salesperson was then asked to take care of me.I would have much rather have finished with the first person rather than starting over with someone new who had to catch up with what I had already discussed in terms of my preferences and needs. As a result, the process took much longer than it should have. Plus, it was as if I were a second- class customer since I was new. If this is common practice, I dont think it makes new customers fell welcome.
Im a disabled veteran who went in to the Rochester Hills Location and found a mattress that Ive been wanting to get for a very long time due to my physical disabilities and pain. I received An estimate for the mattress I wanted and said I would be back later and I would be paying in cash. Once I got there to purchase my mattress, I was then told that the item I had told would be included with my purchase was not going to be free which which made me very upset.. Then I was told the only way to get the 180 night sleep guarantee was if purchasing another couple hundred dollar mattress pad or I couldnt get the guarantee. Hello?!?! Disabled veteran , Fixed income , saved money to pay cash, got an estimate of the cost came back with the cash to pay for it and then BAM.... had all these other things sprung on me. I was also given a window for my delivery time 2 days later. 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on a Sunday was my estimated delivery. I received An email stating that my delivery window time was 3 to 6:00 p.m Sunday morning. I was home all day waiting for this delivery and had someone here to help me, also waiting all day. They did not get here until almost 8:00 p.m. on a Sunday night. I was then advised that the sales person should not have given me any kind of window for delivery that only they can let me know when they are on their way to deliver an item. I called the main customer service phone number for Gardner white, got a voice-mail left a detailed message And I have yet to receive any return phone call of the service /lack of service and feeling like I was taken advantage of Because I was a female, a veteran and Paying in cash. Also the so called 180 Night guarantee is a joke... fees, and tons of other fine print.
Great experience at Gardner White Rochester location. My sales associate was very knowledgeable about the pieces I was looking at. She worked with me on fabric selection and possible additional pieces that could complete my room design. They had a special sale event going on so I got a great deal on my set. I cant wait for it to arrive!!
I wish I could give negative rating here for Gardner White. Bought a large custom sectional worth over $3.5K. It was delivered with uneven and sinking cushions even though the sofa we selected in store was firm and consistent. Additionally, within 30 days of purchase all cushions and the base of the sofa started to sag. We were really disappointed and reported the same to the Rochester Hills store we purchased it from. They sent a service tech to take a look. They never followed up and when I called them back, they told me that the service tech noted that this was normal wear. I have bought many sectionals in my life from Ashely, Raymour & Flannigan, Costco, Wayfair and many other brands. Never have I seen a product that would deteriorate this quick. Furthermore, never have I come across a brand that completely runs away from accountability. I even have a 5 year platinum protection on the sectional and even then they are unwilling to do anything about their poor product. The customer service didnt even care if I write a negative review about their product. I want to make sure anyone who is thinking about purchasing from Gardner & White beware about their quality and after sales service. Save your money and peace of mind, because what you see in store is not what you will get delivered. On top of that if you want to return the product because of defect they will charge you 25% restocking fee.
Deciding to buy furniture is a huge deal. I purchased mattresses on line recently from Gardner White, however, I LOVED the in-person customer service & patience I received while window shopping at the Rochester store. They were informative, and added a human touch to the sales process-I know where Im going for my living room furniture needs!
Quick, pleasant, attentive but not oppressive sales help, wide variety of mattress mfrs and models to select from. Reasonable, comparable pricing to the competition. “Lie before you buy”- important to my wife & me- no on-line nonsense, long order lead time, or “deal with it yourself” for old mattress disposal.👍
We had a wonderful experience purchasing our living room furniture from this location. Lucas Lord was patient, knowledgeable, and extremely helpful. The entire process was quick and easy. We have no complaints and will be back to purchase more furniture in the future.
The store is very nice well spaced out. Had a good experience with our sales manager. Product was delivered on day as promised. Thou there is a problem with the color. Hopefully this will be addressed and taken care of when service tech comes out. That is why I gave 4 stars instead of 5. I will add this due to the pandemic a lot of furniture stores are way out on delivery dates due to manufacturing is behind due to shut downs. That I understand is out of sales / store control. Keep that in mind when you shop. Make sure product is in stock before you buy have your sales person check for you it will save a lot of headaches. Had 2 different furniture stores (not Gardner white ) give me delivery dates only to call me back and move dates out by 2 to 3 months.
I had such a wonderful experience shopping at Garnder-White. Jory was very helpful in finding the exact pattern and style I was looking for. I was pleased with not only his customer service but how he truly wanted to help you find what you wanted. My couch arrived in great time and their selection was great as well (just as he promised) I cant wait to go back again. I will not request anyone but Jory!
Customer Service not good . Be sure to order your furniture on line and get a confirmation . Or your furniture will not be delivered . After a month I followed up and order was never sent !!I requested my money back and found a lot better quality furniture elsewhere. And the Customer service ...awesome!
Awful experience at this location. Have to spend a certain amount to get free delivery and removal of old mattress. Next day delivery ended up being almost a week. Was told my mattress pad cover the salesman handed me was free and that was a lie. When I checked my account I saw I was being charged $55 for the mattress pad cover I didn’t even want in the first place. Went to return it in the store and of course they don’t accept returns and supposedly they don’t give free mattress pad covers. Then the receptionist at the desk said, yes they are free and the story went back and Forth when she called a “manger” to the desk. Not a good look for a “professional place” Well I didn’t want it in the first place the salesman handed it to me and told me it was free. So I am not happy. Long story short I will never be returning to this store and I will be letting all my friends and family know.
I ordered a new bedroom set When it arrived the mirror was broken and after only having the set for 14 days i noticed an issue with the legs they had been installed in correctly, 3 times I have had to call gardner white because the repairs or replacement parts were of poor quality. I paid around $3,000 for a bed that i am afraid to sleep in.
The worst customer experience I have ever seen!GardnerWhite did NOT CARE about me after they got my cash.I still have a broken wall art mirror, and I spend Xmas with non functioning brand new recliners (three of the five recliners were not operational upon delivery).Once their sales team realized I was not planning to purchase their 5-year warrantee they turned against me and my wife. We were even informed they will not support us if anything breaks and I have to call for manufacturer warrantee. Not acceptable even for 1st year.Their store manager at Rochester Hills was very passive with me and he made me feel it was my fault that they delivered defective furniture, and it was a training opportunity for his team and for the company’s delivery team, and I had to accept their resolution at their pace.They repaired the brand new recliners one day after Christmas after I complained three times to expedite repairs (two recliners had incorrect wiring issues and one had a defective control box), yet my broken mirror was NOT replaced. Their store manager did not take responsibility for the mirror despite knowing they gave me the mirror pre-wrapped after they took it off the wall from their showroom. I told him I did not see it removed off their wall nor wrapped, and he said it may have been broken after I took it, and that was his final “resolution”.When I reached out to their corporate help line, I received a “courtesy” call to listen to me complain about my experience, and no followup actions nor followup calls from them afterwards. The lady said her managers were aware, and exactly as I expected they DID NOT follow-up and they just ignored me hoping I will forget.I do not forget!My entire family and my friends and their friends heard from me about my experience, and they were shocked and sad that one of our local stores treated me like this. I told them to be careful and be aware how my experience with GardnerWhite went. They know I contacted the company and they asked me to inform them how it ends.I support my local stores, yet this one left a LOT to be desired.If you were in my place, and you spent a good amount of your hard earned money for new furniture, what would you do?
Customer service quality has really declined since this store changed over from the previous company. Other reviews are accurate, sales associates are only interested in making a sale, could care less about customer satisfaction or performance. Bought an item recently, the salesman failed to spell my name correctly on the invoice although I spelled it for him 3 times, but he certainly tried to overcharge me for the purchase. Even the check out girl, who was very nice stated that the salesman should be at the register to ensure info is correct but after making his sale he was nowhere to be seen, and she was left to make the corrections. Talk about sleazy salesman. Dont waste your time here you can do better with service and value.
Went to Rochester Hills Gardner-White for some sofas and tables for my office & was not disappointed! The store manager greeted me as I walked by him and thanked me for checking out the new store which made me feel right at home. The selection is huge and the salespeople are some of the friendliest i’ve ever met. Will definitely come back for my home furnishings!
Dont shop in this store! They called 2 hours prior to delivery and told me they dont have my mattress in stock, but it would only be a couple days, .. then it was it will certainly be in next week, ... , then they said it would be the next week, I called again today and they wouldnt let me speak to a manager and told me I cant cancel the order without talking to the salesperson who sold me the mattress. This is a mid-range mattress, nothing special!
The commercials indicate that so call Free delivery was only to your door. To be delivered to your house you have to pay $149.99. The store will pay the sales tax is Not applying to products on sale. The sales people are polite, but I am not convinced that their products are reliable ( sofa only warranty for 1year, unless you buy warranty)
I had a wonderful experience at this store! The associates were extremely helpful and knowledgeable about their products. Lucas Lord helped me special order a sectional to fit my small space. I thought it would be a painfully long process, but it was actually very quick and simple. I will definitely shop here again!
Terrible experience with this company, purchased a bedroom set in December. Was told it was back order till January, was okay withit. Deliver date in January they call an tell me it has been pushed back a month. To mid February, 10 days past the delivery date of February, they decided to finally inform me that it has been pushed back again till the middle of March, as of today they have called an informed me it has been pushed back again until April. Customer service is a joke an cant answer any questions. They continue to hang up on me. When I ask to speak with a manager they just hang up.
Extremely disappointed in the customer service quality. Ordered a bed frame, delivery was cancelled on 3 separate occasions due to mistakes such as throwing away important parts and “reading the order wrong”. The customer service reps have not been helpful and my sales person won’t get back to me. Will not be returning here and would advise others to look elsewhere.
Sales experience was good with Jory but delivery was a hot mess. First they showed up without the tools and had to go back to the store. When I asked them to put on shoe covers the guy told me they might fall down the stairs with those (my husband wears them daily on stairs), then he lets out a huge sigh and opens the front door and screams “she wants foot covers”. Also, all 3 delivery people didn’t pull their mask up for most of the delivery. None even greeted us or said hi. Said they were coming back in to take a pic and then booked. No pic, recliner isn’t where it’s supposed to be and I’m left to move it myself because I don’t want those guys back in my house.
Did not have a positive experience this time, it took about an 1.5 hours to purchase an umbrella and the sales /team still asked me to wait even longer due to an error. Just seemed like it was one delay after another with no explanation. Was glad the ordeal was over, when I finally got the umbrella. Still waiting for them to correct the error.
I was told my furniture would be available for delivery the next day. I opted to have it delivered 4 days later. Today I was expecting 9 pieces of furniture and All I received was a mattress and a box spring. I was told the rest of my furniture would be delivered sometime next week , no exact date. I believe this transaction was VERY unprofessional and unorganized.I am very disappointed with my purchase.
This place deserves 0 stars. Had a salesman rush up to me which made me very uneasy. as soon as I said I was waiting for my parents. He started rubbing his hands saying ya ya let em spend their money saying it in a very creepy voice . And I’m guessing he was juding me just because I’m young thinking I don’t work. Or have money. Which I do work and have money of my own. This place is a joke. Will not be back. I also work in sales. I would never treat someone like that in our store young or old. I hope corporate sees this or at least the manager.

2022-02-06Denise was friendly and efficient in helping me to choose a new mattress. She explained the process completely.The store is well arranged and inviting. Sidewalks were completely cleared of the recent snow.A very good experience. I will need to wait for delivery because the item I ordered was a special order, as I expected.

2022-05-22We were looking for a large credenza. Sue Carter helped us find one we liked. The length is what we wanted and the color matched our furniture perfectly. The only problem was that delivery would not occur until late November. We felt that was too long. Sue then offered us the floor model which was in new condition so we purchased it. Overall we are very happy with how the whole experience went. Thank you! Beautiful store. We will be back.

2022-04-15The in-store customer service was great! However, everything went downhill after placing the furniture order. We ordered a sectional back in November 2021 with the expected delivery date 12 weeks out. It’s been close to 5 months and we are still waiting for it to be delivered. There has been no communication from their end to update us about the delay or the expected delivery date. What started out as a great shopping experience has now become very disappointing to say the least!

He is extremely knowledge and ensured that he guided me to the right mattress that would work for me. I highly recommend him . Im really glad that I went to Gardner White and worked with a mattress expert.

2021-10-12Ive been here for over an hour shopping for a mattress. I have the GW credit card. Im here because I was informed they would be a new card, bit other present cards are still valid for useage through the 31st.The visit began with being greeted by Sue at the door. She asked what I needed and I said I was just looking but would call her if she gave me a card. She said she would when I left...They are advertising a sale in which you get extras for mattresses priced $999. Sue had to ask Al who either didnt know at much as Sue or wasnt trying to be bothered with me. From his demeanor, my guess would be the latter.After dismissing me, I decided to look elsewhere. Then there was a really nice young lady whose name escapes me who SOLD ME A MATTRESS! SHE asked what my needs were. She showed me different styles and actually had me lay on them, brought me water and mints. You know. Customer service.I decided on a mattress with the standard frame and box spring and a mattress protector. The young lady had to pick up her kids. So, she got me back with Sue to finalize the purchase.I told her I wanted to put it on my current GW Card, which Ive never used. Sue said I could not use it. When I asked why she had to soak to Al, who told her if I dont apply for the new card, I dont get any of the perks advertised, even though said policy or rule is not stated in the advertisement Nor did ANYONE say anything about it before now.I so wish I remembered the other girls name. She was spot on with sales. She said Al was the manager. If so, this store needs help because this man is one of the most impersonal people Ive encountered in a while.Ill spend my money elsewhere and also on the floor before Im disrespected this way! Google, you need to allow a zero rating

2022-03-22The store was very clean and laid back. Mike Morelli was very helpful and not pushy (which I appreciated). Once I decided to buy, everything went very quickly and efficiently. Even the financing went fast. Im very happy with my experience there.

2022-06-20I bought a power chair on May 27. Aftera $150 delivery on Jun, I found that all I had was the receipt. No instructions, no manual.I called the store, they would not let me talk to the salesman. One of the girls said she would get in touch with the manufacturer, Ultra Comfort. I then got a manual via email. I found that the manual had nothing on my model, so I called back and they sent another manual via email. It was the same manual. It does not show anything on my problem. The chair would not produce heat. Everytime you pushed the heat button, the remote would shut off. So, I called ultra comfort, the manufacturer on June 20 after waiting for 10 days to respond to a customer concern I had filled out. They immediately sent me to VSR Solutions, a repair facility that they use. They said that the warranty does not cover labor and I may have to pay for whatever part it needed plus the shipping. The chair was sold to me for $1599.99. The total out the door price was $1854.58. For a chair that does not fully work. It came with no warranty from Gardner White because it was a floor model. Now Im waiting to hear back from VSR Solutions to how much more I gotta pay to a chair that is supposed to work when you buy it. This is the 2nd time that Gardner White has screwed me.. I bought a $6,000 couch and chair from them that lasted only about 3 years. They sell garbage, dont buy from them

2022-05-12If you are looking to purchase furniture, do not go through the Rochester location. There are a laundry list of items that their team did not follow through. First, we placed a deposit down to hold a couch that me and my fiancée loved! We got a good deal ... only come to find out that our order got cancelled a few weeks later. It wasnt like we placed $50 down just because. We were committed to purchasing the couch and we were trying to find a home to put it in. Luckily, my fiancée went into the store to put another deposit down. She was the one that found out our order was cancelled. Had she not gone in, we probably would have missed out on the couch. It was astounding that they would do this without notifying us that the order would be cancelled.Second, we also ordered end tables and a coffee table. I had fully paid them off and gave them my debit card number over the phone to pay. Mike, our sales rep, said it would be at my apartment the next morning. As me and my fiancée were waiting, we never got any confirmation about our order being delivered. So I call them and they said that there was still a balance on the account ... even though I gave them my card information the day before to process the remaining balance! They claim that the billing address in their system did not match my card on file. When I asked what address they had, they said it was my new place. Hmmm ... thats weird. The only time I ever gave you my new address was for delivery, not for my card. So what happened to my old address on file? And why did nobody call me that the order didnt process? To me, it was terrible follow up. We decided to not do delivery, just to pick up. We were absolutely fed up at this point.Me and my fiancee are happy we got our furniture, but the overall experience was consistently disappointing. I never leave reviews, but this was nothing full of shortcomings. If you shop at Garner White, I highly suggest you go through a different location.

2022-03-02Changed my review from 5 stars to 1. Update 7 months later, Im still waiting for furniture to come in. 2 partial delivers caused damage to my home. Communications with the store personnel have been unsuccessful in resolving issues.Great experience with Sue who was very helpful, and Al the mattress expert. I highly recommend this store and they were both super customer-focused.
