General RV Center in other cities:
They did a great job from start to finish. Rob, the salesman, was patient with the questions and realized to show us a unit we had not considered. We ended up buying that one. On the day of pickup the unit was ready when promised. They had everything hooked up so we could see water, plumbing, etc. was in working order. Taylor patiently explained everything so we would know what to do (first time purchase of a travel trailer). Josh then went over how to hook it up, unhook, and winterize it. Financing was smooth and no shady practices nor heavy pressure to purchase something you may not want. Very good experience
HEAVEN sent. I was looking for a new motor home, yet divine intervention said no. Buy a new tow vehicle and travel trailer. So very thankful. With the price of fuel, it would have been more costly with the motor home, I needed for retirement travel. Found and bought the tow vehicle, yet not the trailer. General RV had the only travel trailer in the area, that I was looking for. Yet do to false hearsay, I was reluctant going to a commercial RV center. I was assured going there would be good. Shepherd there and prayer answered. What a blessing they are. Outstanding people, management, sales, service, atmosphere and price. More than worth the hour drive. I would have had to spend thousands more for this trailer elsewhere. In the end I saved $15,000.00 dollars purchasing the tow vehicle and travel trailer over the motor home. I will also save thousands in fuel prices every year. I received more amenities, driver assist, safety features and living space over the motor home. They even followed up with customer satisfaction and service after the sale. Praise you JESUS, and thank YOU for them!
RUN DONT WALK AWAY!!!Not just once, but many many many times dealing with General RV service has led to this post/review. The service department is incredibly incapable of working with the customers needs. The policies for customers to get service require the owner/customer to take vacation time just to stand in their office when it works for them, not for you!!! Bought a brand new unit they refuse to help me get ready for my trip because their policy requires you to take vacation to prep for your vacation, to be there when it works for them and not for you, like at all, meaning if you live away, they will not work with you to drop off the day before or hold your unit till the next day when you have time to get it. they will not work with your work schedule or even if you have medical appointments. General RV simply does not care at all about a customer that already spent their money, but if you have not spent yet they have all kinds of time to call and hound you. Implorable and I recommend purchasing somewhere else, anywhere else. Almost a year and all the money i spent and they still have me with an incomplete/damaged unit. they do not have interest in making your experience good. After sales is only about the very few service people, not the customer. they dont care about you, only their ridiculous policies and if you have enough money to spend more.
Bought my camper with an extended warranty across state. Called General RV and told no problem we can do the warranty work. Over 500 dollars and more then 7 months later its just now starting to get fixed. This place sucks. Ill never spend a dime at General RV again and certainly wont buy a camper based on the service from this place ever. These people have the intelligence of a paperbag and dont care about helping you one bit. Ill drive 100 past this place for anything camper related.
My husband I, just bought a new trailer at the birch run . I cant say enough about Troy in the service department. He want above and beyond making sure that we were taking care of and that things were safe us to come home. We brought are oldhitch and found out that it was not safe, Troy hooked us up.Also Tammy was the best to.
So far so good. The wife was excited about the RV choices here. Large selection. The atmosphere was comfortable. Sales and Finance folk do their jobs well. The only thing missing is a large beer tent with free beer where everyone gets trashed and then we all make embarrassing stories to tell later but that is perhaps not best for business so I give them a pass on not doing that. I will save it for the campgrounds.
All I have to say Is best of luck when purchasing from GENERAL RV, you will have a lot better luck and care at the other dealerships in the Tri Citys. Once you leave the lot good luck on them getting to help you at all especially when your rig is still in warranty. They only want your money. To many horror stories with General RV, just research the web, you will see. Best of luck to anyone purchasing, but I know our family will never purchase anything from them again.
I give this 2 stars because our actual experience purchasing our travel trailer, a 2021 Grand Design Xplor was good. They gave us what seemed to be a good deal. Well it turns out our sales person blatantly lied to us!! They sold us the trailer saying it was 4 season ready, underbelly insulated. We have been struggling all winter with frozen pipes even when it is barely below freezing out. We called up Grand Design themselves to ask whats up with this trailer not doing good in this weather. They told us they dont make any 4 season trailers and that the underbelly is not insulated! So of course we called up General RV asking to speak to management as we are highly disappointed that our sales person lied to us and that we are going to lose money on having to trade trailers so soon. They never gave us management to speak to. Instead they had their service department call us up saying they can have us bring it in and they will thaw it out for us ... What kind of solution is that to a lying sales person selling us a trailer with no insulation and now we are stuck 600 miles away with no water?!?!I would highly recommend never buying from General RV, and if you do make sure you thoroughly research the RV you want before buying even if that means talking to the manufacturer because you cant trust their sales people.
1st Id like to start by saying I give this 5 star out of 5 review based my sales professional, my experience with the company before the signing and the ones who helped me with my delivery.COLIN KUPPER0 WAS ABSOLUTLY AWESOME FROM BEGINNING TO END. Emily ward was fabulous as was Drew Stevens. All 3 were very helpful and made me feel like I was very important and more then just another sale. I am a business owner and I am also a sales/bushes mgr at a local dealership and would hire all 3 of them.A+ experience 5 star for those 3I will be sharing another review, not so good, based on my final signing of the paperwork and your employee Steve Krupp that will not be a 5 star.
I was very disappointed to find out that any time you have an issue that is covered under warranty it will still cost you a $125 for what is called a diagnostic charge. What a scam. If it is under warranty it should be coved 100%. Bad enough you have a problem with a new unit, but even worse when you find out that it is really not covered like they told you it would be. The first time I brought my travel trailer in for the repair, it was about 6 months old. The parts had to be ordered and an appointment was made for the necessary repairs. Then when I came back for the repair I was told that it was now 10 days out of warranty. I purchsed an extended 5 year warranty for a cost of a little more than $5,000.. Guess what, I was told that I would still have to pay the $125 diagnostic fee. Not a happy camper. Guess where I wont purchase my next travel trailer. It took them 11 years to win me over as a customer and 1 day to lose me.
I do not recommend Birch Run. We had a recall on the back windows and Birch Run did the replacement. We picked it up, and went out to look at them and the windows look aweful! Sealant is oozing out of the frames and sealant is smeared on the trailer and windows. Im shocked that General RV approved this as acceptable. We have had other negative experiences at this location. Now we are left cleaning up their mess. We called and left a message.
Great experience with General RV Birch Run!! Amazing salesman Robert (Bob, Bobert) found us our dream camper and in our price range. Everyone was friendly and overly thorough. Radio inside camper didn’t work during final walkthrough and we were compensated. Very satisfied with our service and experience!!!
Didnt seem like they wanted to help us get a camper same day. Guy even seemed indignant that we were asking for that. He said well do you have cash to buy it outright? If not we cant do that till middle of next week.We left!Went to Tradewinds and in 30 min, they made it happen. Better camper, less money and they hooked us up day we needed it.
Have called service 10 today between myself and my husband. We bought the automatic lift for our new trailer. We have taken it on one trip, got home couldnt get it to work to unhook from our vehicle. Too bad they cant get it right. They charge an outrageous amount to clean for you. I had to clean it after they supposedly did it. More than unhappy at this point.
My wife and I connected with Ben Sexton at an RV Show.He was super helpful and answered my 2,000 questions!! VERY PROFESSIONALHe understood what we were looking for and didnt pressure us at all.I picked up the unit (Thor 2022 Fourwinds 22e)and on the way home a small cover blew off....my fault, I was flying down the road.I let Ben know and Heis sending me a new cover...overnight!!HE IS THE BESTJOHN
Buying an RV from this location has been a terrible experience. There is no communication among the representatives of General RV Birch Run, poor upper management, and our salesperson, Casey, had no follow through. There was obviously no inspection done, leading to a 5 hour detour within 100 miles of the lot to fix issues that another dealership told us should have never happened. Absolutely would not recommend buying from this location.
Working with Ivan Pollard at General RV in Birch Run, Michigan on purchasing our Reflections Grand Design 5th wheel was one of the most pleasant experiences we’ve had. Ivan had patience with Doug & I , a few months actually while we were getting our finances in order & that didn’t stop Ivan from keeping in touch with Doug & i regarding our concerns ab our purchase, the particulars we wanted within our RV. We had visited with Ivan a few times at General RV as he would get the perfect trailer / 5th wheel we wanted. This being the last one I’m sure we will ever have to purchase , thanks to Ivan Pollard for finding our perfect RV. Ivan spent so much time with us at his place of employment & via phone calls & txt jus to make sure we were being taking care of. Tuesday April 5 Ivan worked Diligently on our 2022 Reflections Grand Design as well as making sure the 5th wheel hitch installation was going smoothly. Ivan is all ab his clients , what they need / want , perfecting their financing & their needs. Ivan will go above & beyond to get you what you need and or want. As well as giving you advice, his thoughts on your concerns you may have. I honestly can’t say enough great things ab Ivan. I feel as tho I’ve made a friend within him.I trust him very much , his opinion & as well his advice.Doug Prince & I , Sheila Prince highly recommend Ivan Pollard for your outdoor needs. , RV ‘s ,, travel trailer & 5th wheels.
Want $215 just to tell me what it will cost to put ac on a 2019 coachman clipper 108st pop up camper that was bought from them cant just give an estimate will never shop here again i would recommend taking a drive to leisure days travel trailer center on m57 instead you will recieve much better service
They dont call back when they say. Took my class a in and they said would call me later that day. Never got a call. I called the next morning. Finally got thru and Jeremy was supposed to call me. Never called. It is now 12:00 noon. Still waiting for the call back. Very poor customer service. Hate being lied to.
I cant say enough good things about my experience with Ben @ General RV. From the day we met him in Hershey Pa. @ the RV show, we knew he was the kind of guy that doesnt hide behind his sales. He is the kind of person that fits in like family. He is always available if a question arises and is prompt at responding to emails. Due to territory regulations our new Super C cannot be delivered to Pa. and is being delivered to the Virginia store since it is much closer to my home state of Pa than Michigan. Ben has flawlessly made our investment a smooth process. I have read horror stories about some RV businesses but cannot say one thing at all bad about our experience with Ben @ General RV. I must say we were nervous about making a purchase and dealing with someone that is 650 miles away from us. If anyone is looking for an RV , whether you are in California , Florida, or anywhere else in the US. Give Ben @ General RV a call and see for yourself what a class act person he really is.
We went in to look for a new to us 5th wheel in the Birch Run General Rv, where we were paired with Tori to help us find our perfect new camper. It was freezing, windy, and pretty much just miserable out, and Tori still took us out with a list of campers that fit exactly what we were looking for, and took her time to make sure we found the perfect fit for us. After finding us our dream camper, she took walked us through the whole process, and make sure that everything went great. We are so appreciative of Tori, Dan (finance manager), and everyone who made for a fantastic experience from start to finish. Definitely recommend asking for Tori to help with all of your needs when you visit.
Looked at several RVs, trying to decide on what fits us, the sales person was very pushy and aggressive, just wanted to make a sale, told us there were rebates, we asked about them, instead he changed the subject. We spoke briefly about a trade in, I over heard the manager say to him, its a different year than what he owns, he dont know the year, what the hell he has the wrong year, referring to me! I know what I own!!Not very impressed! Will most likely never go back!
I cant speak of anything else pertaining to General RV of Birch Run, but when it comes to their service center, it is absolutely the worst place to deal with.We dropped off our fifth wheel on 8/11/2021 and explained some of the issues we were having. We originally worked with Jeremy, and he explained some of the things we mentioned would not be covered under the manufacturers warranty - fine, no big deal. We had 3 things we primarily wanted taken care of; deadbolt on the main entry door was jammed, wheel on the master bedroom slide-out fell off, and our strip of clearance lights were not working. We spoke to Jeremy on 8/18/2021, and he mentioned that they would need to diagnose the issues, and we would either be responsible for diagnostic charges or potentially the cost of fixing the items based on what the manufacturer covers. Communication was okay within the first week. He explained that they could replace the deadbolt, fix the slide-out and the only thing we would be responsible for is the clearance lights. He explained the manufacturer would only cover 2.5 hours of labor for the job (fuse was short and needed to replace the LED strip) and the job was a total of 4 hours. So, that being said we would need to approve the extra 1.5 hours for a total of $250.00. We approved to have it done that same day (8/18/2021).We tried contacting Jeremy, as well as General RV, multiple times the following week, to find out an ETA on when our camper would be complete. We could never get a phone call back, or any communication regarding it. Finally, about a week later, Sarah, the service supervisor contacted us and explained the deadbolt and clearance lights were fixed. We asked about the master bedroom slide-out and it was stated it was never on the work order. She was helpful that evening but, stated a new work order would need to be created and they would take care of it.We had someone else from another General RV location contact us on 8/27/2021 stating everything was completed and ready for pick-up. I wanted them to verify the issues were fixed, before we made the 1 hour drive to pick-up. She confirmed with Sarah, and we stated we would be there on 8/30/2021 to pick it up.When we arrived at General RV (Birch Run), neither Jeremy or Sarah helped us out, and had someone else do the walk-thru with us as they were busy. The gentleman was nice that assisted us, and everything appeared to be fixed. But ,when getting ready to leave the battery on our fifth wheel was completely dead - meaning we could not get the jacks lifted to be able to tow it. We then had to wait and use their portable battery charger to get enough charge to be able to hook it up and leave. We took our fifth wheel to storage same day, and just went to pick it up on 9/6/2021. Upon arriving, the clearance lights strip was hanging off (the item we just paid $250.00 to have replaced and fixed.) We have now tried contacting General RV twice, regarding the issue, as we dont feel that this was a $250.00 job, and it also does not look like a new, replacement strip was even ordered for it.At this point, we have not received a call back, regarding the issue. Honestly, I dont know if we will... considering many of these reviews have a response from the owner, only when it pertains to positive feedback. We would not recommend this service center to anyone, due to the lack of communication and poor workmanship.
Alex S. was great in Sales! Very helpful and knowledgeable. Steve K. was great in Finance. Jose J. was great in our walk through today. Very nice & knowledgeable; answered all our questions. Everyone was great every step of the way and thats what we needed; since this was our 1st RV purchase. Definitely recommend them and will go back ♥️
Not sure where to truly start this review.Figured it was time to finally post a review now that we have had the RV for 6 months and now I can tell you much more about the experience of purchasing a new Montana from the Birch Run General RV store. Our salesperson Scott was very good to work with through the process, especially with me not able to physically look at the units in person. Scott made my wife very comfortable during the process of looking at the units with me on the phone and or face time. Scott answered every question we had during the process. We ultimately purchased a new 2021 Montana in January of this year and that’s when the experience went down hill..The finance department made it very difficult for us because they would not allow any electronic signatures via email so we had to depend on carriers and or the mail services to shuttle the paperwork to my location. They messed up our paperwork and I was the one that discovered the screw up and because of it, we had to have it all redone which delayed the purchase of the unit.We paid to have the unit transported from Michigan to my location down south and that was interesting to say the least. Once they had my money we never heard from them and we had to continuously call them to get any information and any updates. We had to call them to see if the unit even left Michigan to know that we would receive it on the day we requested since we had to coordinate the swap from our older unit into the new one. We finally received a call from the transporter a couple hours before it arrived. We did receive it the day we requested, but had little to no information from general RV during this time frame. Now to the service department and I say what service department.Once we received it, there was issues immediately. I do not think that they truly go through the units to make sure everything functions as it should before it goes to the consumer. We discovered that the main battery disconnect was incorrectly wired along with when we lost power our refrigerator never turned on with the inverter because it was wired incorrectly too. We discovered a number of other items as well and reached out to our salesperson after a month of having it to see how these items would be handled since it is not located in Michigan. We had a phone conversation along with emailed the issues with pictures and was told it would be forwarded on to service. We never heard anything back from them in months so we reached out again just recently. This time we were told from our salesperson Scott that the operations manager and sales manager had been informed about this issue of no one reaching out to us. So here we stand months later and still no communication.I am thinking that they really don’t care about any following up and just care about the sale.I hope that anyone that is thinking of purchasing a new RV from them, thinks twice about giving your money to this family owned business.
I had a very positive experience with the service department at General RV Birch Run. They went above and beyond to help me with a RV warrantee problem even though I did not even purchase my RV from them!I discovered (another) problem with my RV. It was less than a month before the warrantee period expired. Anyone who has warrantee work done on a new RV knows delays are likely waiting for approvals and parts from the OEM and component companies. The dealer I purchase my RV from could not schedule a service appointment until just a few days before the warrantee period expired. I called local dealers looking for a better option. Ashley at General RV Birch Run came to my rescue. I explained the situation and timing concerns and she suggested an immediately appointment to diagnose the problem. I took it there the next day, and they completed the diagnosis while I waited. The submitted the repair for and obtained approval within a week and had the parts ordered. This was days before holiday week. I brought the RV in for repairs the first week of January and picked it up several days later completely repaired and pawer washed clean. That is service. Thank you, Ashley, and General RV Center Birch Run!
I have been trying to get my front door fixed for a month now on my brand new unit, there is a huge gap and I can’t leave MI until it’s fixed so I’m spending so much money to heat the unit cause it all just goes out the gap. I waited 3 weeks for a call back after my fifth wheel was looked at while still calling at least once a week. I live in my unit full time so this isn’t something that can wait. Heartland has been nothing but helpful on getting this resolved. They let me know that they finally did the updated claim correct and it would be covered as of last week. I try to call and I can never get though to anyone (they are always having “phone issues”) I will not purchase anything from General Rv again, and you shouldn’t either once you make your purchase your nothing to them.
Just brought our 2013 Salem Light Cruise home today, and let me tell you what, we are super happy with General R.V Tamara was with us from start to finish working with us to get it complete, and the staff, wow! just wonderful. and let me tell you about the crew that preps and prepares your new RV inside out and from tongue to bumper, FANTASTIC. They worked hard to find us our perfect unit, and that she is, Thank you to Tamara and all of the crew at General RV, You went above and beyond for us and we Highly recommend General RV to anyone looking for a easy caring experience, We absolutely love our new RV , Robert and Shawnie Lee
I am so disappointed by the service at General RV in Birch Run. Over a month ago I had an appointment and at that time I was told they needed to order parts. When I came back for my return appointment today I learned that the parts had never been ordered because I had not paid for them. At the time the parts were supposed to be ordered, NO ONE asked or suggested I needed to pay for the parts prior to them being ordered. They had my phone number and could have called me at anytime. Their response was that their computers and phones have been out for two weeks……however the computer that took my money today was fully operational and the parts that they ordered for me today seem to have been accepted by the computer.K Dake
Still waiting for the new bedroom door that was promised to us back in April. Here it is mid July and still nothing. We have reached out to see when it may be ready and dont even get a call back when were told we will. Sales person seemed miffed when she thought we werent going to make a sale. Which we did. Also were told black and grey tanks would be emptied and camper would receive a professional, thorough cleaning. The camper was barely touched. Still needed a full cleaning when we took it home. Also, black tanks were left full. Very disappointed in the service here after the money we spent. I dont know that we would do business here again.
Great experience of buying an RV from start to finish. Our salesperson, Byron, was incredibly knowledgeable, respectful, and made shopping fun! He wasn’t too pushy and easily recommended the perfect unit to fit our needs. The service techs were professional and answered every question we had to make sure we were equipped to successfully operate our unit and immediately fixed the two small issues we ran across during the demo. First class!
We have purchased two units from this dealership and sales were wonderful so that is the only reason Im giving 3 stars. The service department has been a horrible experience. The second unit has had some issues and it is almost impossible to get the service department to return calls or even schedule the unit for repair. And when you finally get a date and time. They call cancel the appointment on our way there. Its been almost a year and still waiting for them to replace the furnace. Disappointing.
Mary was my sales person, she did a outstanding job explaining each coach to me. I felt she was very knowledgeable and friendly. The finance side not so much. I was adamant about using Elga credit union for my loan since Ive been a member there for many years. I was told that Independent Bank had better terms and would let me make weekly payments. WRONG. They hold your money till the payment is due then process it. Hell I might as well leave it in my sock drawer till then. Upon contacting Elga today I found out that they will definitely match the terms and allow me to make weekly payments. Seems to me they could have figured this out in the beginning. Im sure they receive some sort of kick back from Independent Bank. So now I get to waste more of my time switching institutions, the good news is Elga was more than happy to assist me.
I wouldnt buy a bicycle from this place. All Service department employees are rude all the way up to upper management. We have had a open claim with our insurance company since last December 9th. Our camper trailer is still not fixed. We had 5 chipmunks gett into our camper trailer over the winter. We contacted General Rv since that was where we purchased it off the showroom floor. They tell us a date to bring it in for a estimate and that we have to pay $165.00 for an estimate. We tell the service girl where we seen some of the damage , she calls me the next day at work and asks me to tell her where the damage is again because she lost her sticky note that she wrote on. I told her to do her job and check over the whole camper trailer because thats what a estimate is for. They then told us it was going to be 6 weeks before they could get in parts to take our trailer home. We call our insurance company and in 2 weeks after them having our camper trailer still no estimate turned in. I called the service department manager and he tells me the girl that does estimates is on vacation. Unacceptable!!! We found more damage after the estimate was turned in - we told General RV about it and they did a very bad job of fixing all the damage - they used spray foam on a whole under the bathroom sink - which they charged our insurance company for new flooring. They charged our insurance company to clean our trailer - which was a COMPLETE mess when we picked it up. There was still insulation in our drawer from a nest from the chipmunks . Finally we pickup our camper trailer for the 4th of July weekend- 3am on Saturday morning we heard a big pop noise - all electrical blew up. Took the camper trailer back again - they checked all electrical and said we needed a new A/C, microwave and converter- just got a text on Saturday 8-21-21 all parts are in but they cant work on our trailer till SEPTEMBER 11TH - that terrible service - we should be first in line due to this claim being open since December 9th 2020. I will NEVER RECOMMEND ANYONE TO BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS PLACE!!!
We have had our 5th wheel for over 2 years now and have constantly had problems. It was in their service department most of the first 2 summers we had it. The things they were supposed to fix, seemed fixed at first until we moved our camper again a few weeks later. We live over an hour from this location and it’s a hassle taking it back and forth to be fixed all the time, I don’t understand why they can’t do the job right the first or even the second time. Wouldn’t recommend buying or getting your unit serviced at this location.
When initially buying our RV, they were very helpful and informative; listened to our needs and wants and we’re able to find us a great fit.The problems came after. They were to hook up internet and broke the $400 piece that holds the SIM card as they were wiring it in and then stated they had nothing to do with the break and said we had to buy a new one. We would call for questions and would be put on hold and then hung up on over and over and ignored. Nickel and dime everything and we are just so fed up. Damages have cost us close to a grand in repurchases. We will not be going back, which is sad…because the sales team was great. Run…don’t walk…from the service department.
HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE! Do not buy from here! Covered up things that were wrong with the camper. There was a crack in a base cabinet that they said was just from rough housing. Well, after we went camping, we discovered it was broken because the slide out was not functioning properly. After the second camping trip, the slide out didn’t function at all and now they won’t make it right! Not their problem after the sale… trying to stick us with the thousands of dollars bill! And the worst part is, when we started sharing our ordeal, many other families experienced the same treatment! Hopefully this review will save some other families from the same mess we are in now!
I have to say after many stops at different RV dealers this was the best stop we made. Ben our salesman was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. He took the time to find out our needs and led us to the perfect RV.We could not be happier. If you are in the market for a RV. Please go to General RV in Birch Run and see Ben. He is by far the best sales person we have ever met. Five stars!
Wow! Casey is our RV guy! He definitely went above and beyond to make our RV experience a fantastic one! We looked at other RV dealers and decided that Casey was the one we wanted to go back to do our business with. He helped us find our dream RV and was extremely patient while we sorted through all our options. Buying an RV can be expensive decision but never once did we feel pushed or pressured. Casey was an authentic person and very genuine, which was such a relief to work with. He was in constant communication with both my husband and I, even answering questions on his day off. We are beyond impressed with his dedication and hard work!
Just a cautionary tale if you care to get any kind of service from this place. Actually it goes back to a cautionary tale of where you purchase your RV. DO NOT I repeat DO PURCHASE your RV from General RV. I promise you if you ever need service or even just an estimate to get repairs completed you will be received with the warmth and confidence of a water moccasin. Sadly where you purchase your RV will determine where you are FORCED to get your service. We were never warned or told this. Sadly, due to a blow out, our 5th whee received Damage. We had had an issue w/ warranty work when we 1st purchased our RV. The Clarkston location was SLOW beyond and sense and then dishonest and incomplete in their “Warranty” work. So we try different service departments at different sellers, Tradewinds, Camping World and evening an independent location. Nope! The answer was the SAME across the board. “Sorry. But if you did t but it from us, we can’t help you.” We were forced to use General RV to get the estimate. Now, almost 2 weeks later we can’t even get that done. They charged us and we paid $165 to get the estimate so we can get repairs started. They have passed us to every voicemail and had EVERY excuse under the moon. Now.....we just want a copy of the written estimate and the girl “Cheyenne” is not helping us. We are in dire straights to get our camper fixed. Can someone please give us suggestions. P.s Insurance is paying for it
Another outstanding service experience by Burch Run General RV. We had some water damage inside the Trailer. The technician went above and beyond! I actually think the entire front panel looks better than the when the factory put it on new. Megan our Service adviser was very professional kept us informed the entire way through the extensive repair.
This is for two reasons and two reasons only Megan in the service department and Byron in sales. To some up a really long story. Once they have your money dont expect them to care at all about you. It is up to you to call and email to get problems solved. They are a large corporation that does not care about you!! Thankfully they have hired a few great associates that still know what customer service means. Others 1 star two on a good day.
Gave us a good price for our new 5th wheel and gave us a military discount. Gave us a decent interest rate. Explained everything very well from the process of financing to going over the workings of the fifth wheel. Rob, Steve, Scott, Tammy, and parts department as well as the service shop staff were all very helpful. Thanks to all.
When I Purchased my Tracer I was so happy about my whole experience. When I brought my trade in to return home with my new trailor I was told the tank had a crack in it had to order new one I live 30 plus miles from General Rv. 1. Ordered new tank waited approximately 3 weeks then was told the ordered the wrong part. Found dents in refrigerator door waited almost 2 months for new door drove to dealership and they ordered the wrong color who knows how long I will be waiting for this new door. Ive made 4 trips will be 5 when the new door arrives lets say I am very disappointed in the service department constant mistakes. You owe me gas money!
The person assigned to our financing appointment, Jerry Atkinson, single-handedly spoiled the experience of buying our camping trailer at General RV in Birch Run. What had been a fun and exciting purchase became stressful and uncomfortable due to his heavy-handed behavior. He applied an excessive amount of pressure for us to purchase extended coverage, GAP coverage, and five or six other add-ons up and down his checklist. When we declined the coverage, he became condescending, combative and rude. He belittled us, pressured us further, presented us with multiple doomsday scenarios for which he was sure we were unprepared, and acted as if we were both ignorant and incapable. When we said no to the extended coverage, he replied, Youre telling me that after you buy this camper and your slide motor goes out, which happened to my family, youre prepared to spend the $5000 it will cost to replace it? When we turned down GAP coverage, it was more of the same. Youre telling me that when a tree falls on your camper and totals it, which does happen, youll be fine owing more than its worth? Then, Would you go without insurance for your home? The camper is much less solid, because its on wheels and the parts often break down. By the end of that appointment, we felt thoroughly disrespected. Our salesman, Adam--who was friendly, eager, and helpful--had taken great pains to assure us what a great camper we were purchasing, how well-built and solid it was. When we were just looking at campers during our first visit, Jerry himself had assured us what a durable and reliable brand and model we were considering. Three days later, however, when we were in his office to finalize the paperwork, the switch flipped, and he could only tell us the various ways in which the camper was bound to break down if we didnt shuck out more money for extended coverage. Kristy, the parts and delivery specialist, was enthusiastic and friendly. Drew, the tech who took us on a how-to walk-through, gave us a thorough demonstration. Adam, our salesman, was courteous and attentive. But Jerry turned the whole thing ugly. I would absolutely not recommend General RV because of his part in our experience. And when something goes wrong with our camper, as he has assured us it inevitably will, we will not go back to General RV for our next one.
We started out with Nick at the Clarkston location. He showed us some great campers but the one we really wanted was in Birch Run. So we went up and Ben showed us the camper we wanted.Ben was able to get the price down for us and was very friendly. They were very patient as we put a deposit down to hold it and they held it for weeks for us.Mark Ouimet found us the best financing for our needs and has been very helpful through the whole process. You could say we are “ Happy Campers”
I’m on my third rv from here, I already know about all you have to go through for service at this place, it’s bad. But I over looked stuff like that because I know how bad these rv’s are made. I called in to get an idea of my trade in value before driving 45 minutes to look at the one I already wanted from online, all I wanted to do was walk in it, but that was to much trouble I had to be escorted around, so I got right back in my car and drove home. Thanks for wasting my time, you lost out on a sale and I will never return to this terrible customer service place again.
We met our salesperson as he was publicly yelling at the receptionist, which really set the tone for how I felt about him on first impression. We went in and asked if we could check financing first, so that we knew what our feasible shopping range was. He insisted on pressing for a comfortable monthly payment- I said I thought we wanted to shop in the $10,000 neighborhood, we weren’t in a rush and we’re hunting for a good deal more so than a quick sale. He continued to press the monthly rather than the total price. The salesperson told me repeatedly what a great listener he was, then proceeded to ignore everything I said and insist on showing us a camper that was $13,000 without us knowing anything about what our financing options were. We left the lot feeling pretty soured on GeneralRV.
Ben Sexton treated us like we’re family. He worked for Grand Design building travel trailers and answered all our questions. He also worked with us on the final purchase price of our new Grand Design Imagine 15FLE and we felt very good about the final price we paid. Taylor Young and Delia Gilbert did a great job walking us through our new travel trailer explaining all the systems and how they operate. They were also able to answer all our questions. Dan Tomaszewski walked us trough all the paperwork and I have to say even though Dan had recently had surgery and was just getting back on his feet. You wouldn’t have known it by the very personable way he treated us. General RV Center Burch Run, Michigan has a great team in this group of fine people.
Totally loving the whole RV buying experience here! Ivan, our sales person, hes fantastic. The service department, fantastic. Steve, in finance, awesome. Taylor, Mike, and others, that guided the review of our new camper, all fantastic. Looking to buy, look no further!!!
As of right now I’m not impressed. Got a forest river Screws not all the way through then sticky stuff on the backsplash in the kitchen trim falling down chips on the kitchen cabinets I was told this would all be fixed before I pick it up pick it up and get it home nothing was fixed now I got to take time out of my day to take it back up there and fight with these guys I hope they take care of me I don’t want to have to get the president of General RV involved but I will
I am very impressed with the parts department here. I bought a new camper from a different company and needed some seam tape. The dealership I bought the camper from was giving me the run around and never got me the tape. I called and spoke to the parts manager at General RV of Birch Run and she immediately sent samples for me to choose my color and ordered it. Within a week I received my tape and it was just what I needed.Great customer service really stands out with minor needs like this. I just needed some tape, not a part that was thousands of dollars and they still addressed it as if it was a big deal. I will be purchasing my next camper from here.
Brought in our 2021 travel trailer because the fresh and blackwater tanks werent reading correctly and it was to be ceramicoated. Dropped it off came back next day and nothing was done to it. Pointed out that nothing was done. They apologized and I waited around for 4 hours while they serviced the rv. black water tank and freshwater tanks were never fixed. now my slides leak because of the sloppy coating job. I have water damaged carpet and the hot water heater has stopped working. Going to take it to a different general rv to get everything fixed as its all under warranty, meanwhile I cant use the camper. its under warranty I dont know what you expect me to do the manager. Sorry kids we cant go camping but its under warranty.
This was our first time visiting a General RV center, we’ve seen the commercials and ads so we thought that they must be a good, honest and ‘straight forward company,’ with at least decent customer service, NOT!We walked in where we were greeted with a friendly young lady sitting at the front desk. She asked what we would like to look at, and sent a salesmen, Dennis, to assist us. All goes smooth, we sit down, chit chat about what we’re looking for and the features that are a must, price range, etc. We were explained ‘General RV’s good values,’ and a short history of the company, and then went out to view the units. We specifically told our salesmen exactly what we wanted, what we need in an RV, and what was preferred. At first, we were shown an RV that met a few of our preferred standards, but wasn’t something that blew us away. Dennis told us to be straight forward with him if something we saw didn’t meet our standards or it just wasn’t something that we wanted. After being shown the first RV, we explained that it wasn’t something that took our breath away, it was nice, but not something we wanted. Great! We were shown another unit, similar, but with more storage like we wanted and more than the last one. We demanded residential appliances, not only for the size but the aesthetics, but we weren’t shown an RV with residential appliances.I inquired into the 3 year structural warranty on the Montana High Country that we were looking at, and I also mentioned that a unit we looked at earlier, a Jayco, had a 3 year hitch to end warranty and a 5 year structural warranty. I was met with rudeness, and was told that ‘General RV has warranties all over the place,’ and that they have a 15 year warranty on the roof, and an 8 year warranty on the structure, etc.As we went on, it just became more awkward for us, because we were telling our salesmen how we felt, (like he asked us to do,) and what we personally preferred, and we were made to look naive, and were asked, ‘well I don’t understand, what’s wrong with this one? Is it not the one? What do you want to do?’ Dennis said that he didn’t understand and that it was ‘always something,’ as if we were being too picky when going out to spend $80k?We also explained that we were offered financing with 0 down, and General RV was blown away at that. They simply told us that it wouldn’t work and we needed at least $10k down. We were told, ‘you better have scores north of 700.’It was just a very uncomfortable experience all the way around. Very passive aggressive very pushy. No customer service skills and simply no respect for their potential customers. This is NOT a good look for a massive company such as this. I am no person to write a review, but I thought I would take the time to leave this one.
We went to General RV in Birch Run after a lot of research and a number of recommendations. We had a detailed list of what size and amenities we felt were must haves. We discussed our budget. We were educated on towing capacity and payload distribution to better understand what types of RV’s were safe for us to tow with our specific vehicle. We were then shown a number of different models. Once we settled on the one we wanted, Andy, one of the managers, was able to work the numbers to make it affordable for us. He also helped to make sure all of our needs and wants were met. The financing process was completed overnight, and the RV was prepped and readied as well. The next day we went back for a tour of the RV by a product specialist to explain all the features and how the RV operates. We signed our finance paperwork, and drove off the lot with our new RV after only 2 hours. The process was easy and organized. The instruction was easy to understand and very thorough. We absolutely love our new RV and would highly recommend General RV of Birch Run. Andy is one of the managers and truly went out of his way to make sure we had an amazing experience. With Andy on the management team this place is in excellent hands!
I wish I could rate higher. I was attempting to purchase my 2nd camper from them, I purchased my 1st 3 years ago and sent a referral in that purchased since. Previous experiences were great. Treated like a king. I have been looking for a particular lay out to replace our current travel trailer. I reached out to inquire on it, we talked over about 2 weeks over trades and pricing. I would rather take my time. I was told every time I should put a deposit down because there only one and could not get another for 3 weeks. Today I decided I wanted it. We already agreed on a price. I needed to square up financing. I asked if they could help me or give me the price break down so I could go to my credit union. He needed a deposit first. He said they just sold the last two off there lot and can get another in a few weeks. I found that odd since two weeks ago there were none available, and now they sold two that he knew I wanted. I wrote it off to confusion at that time. I know the numbers roughly, but don’t know the exact number to take to the credit union. After telling them I am not interested in putting a deposit down before I know what it cost Tony called back 2 more times to ask me for my debit card number before I could know what I need to finance. Every time he had to talk to his manager. Is it a game or do they not trust and respect their sales people. Not sure what happened in the past couple years.
Such a big place and so much to choose from!! The overwhelming feeling left as soon as we met Caleb! Excellent salesman!! He was so thorough, explained everything, helped us find exactly what we were looking for. We can be more grateful. There was no push to buy and we were treated like we mattered the whole time we were there. We truly appreciate how helpful he was and still is even after the sale has finished. We didnt just meet a camper sales guy but also made a friend that day. I would recommend stopping in to see Caleb if your in the market for a camper new or used. Thanks Caleb, Red and I appreciate all your help!!
We purchased our new RV a few weeks ago. Josh Cremer should be the poster for all sales reps. He was beyond professional, open and honest sharing pros and cons for each class vehicle. His style of sales is more of building relationships. We felt like family. He shared stories and just made everything so easy. He even helps us when we have questions as new RV owners. We are so grateful thanks Josh for making this process both easy and rewarding.
Bought a new 5th wheel. Good deal and smooth process on that. Slide seal was torn before I bought it. Told them but they never said they would replace it when I signed the papers. A few weeks later they call me saying my part is in. They ordered a slide seal and didn’t tell me. Now I have to bring it back in. Not to big of a deal since I had a drain leak that I was about to call them about anyway. Bring it in and they said it will be done within a day. Don’t hear back about it for a week. So I call them, and call them, and call them multiple times. No one could give me an answer that it was fixed or not. Finally 9 days later I get someone to call me back and it’s ready. Go to pick it up and it’s got a dead battery, 2 fuses blown, and wheel chocks missing. They gave me wheel chocks but it’s pretty irritating that their is no system in place for keeping track of the customers own safety items to protect my investment. And then leaving my camper on a downhill slope with no wheel chocks to stop it from bending my landing gear. Hopefully my battery is not damaged from over discharging it.
I had a wonderful experience purchasing our first travel trailer from General RV! Kari was our sales person and made the whole process easy. She showed us everything they had that would fit our needs within our budget and even let us look at a couple new models to get ideas for down the road. She was not pushy but was honest and gave us the confidence we needed as first time buyers. Our walk through went smoothly and anything we found was immediately addressed. I wouldn’t hesitate to purchase another travel trailer from here and I would 100% recommend Kari.
I brought my 35 trailer to general RV for two issues. 1- I had a shower drain that was leaking. I asked them to quote the repair. 2- I had a black tank leak that had been tried to be repaired from previous owner with fiberglass patch. I requested a quote to install a new black tank. Dropped trailer off on Monday 6-29-2020 and Andrew(service advisor) said he would call back later that day with estimate. I never head back from Andrew until Friday with a estimate of $1900. I said no thank you and would pick up the trailer when I returned from my fourth of july vacation up north. On Tuesday 7-7-2020 I stopped in to pick up my camper and was charged $330 dollars for a diagnosis fee. $165 for the shower leak and $165 for the black tank. I can understand one diagnosis fee since a repair technician did spend time diagnosing the problem with my shower. drain. I feel it was extremely unfair for them to charge me a second $165 dollar diagnosis charge for the blank tank when I showed them where it was leaking and asked for a quote to replace it. No diagnosis had to be done. So to recap I paid $330 dollars for nothing. A technician probably spent 15 minutes looking at the shower and decided that it needed a new shower pan. Andrew ( service advisor ) couldnt explain why I was being charged twice. Very unfair and would not recommend their service to anyone. There hourly rate is extremely high. They wanted $1900 dollars and I received a quote today from another dealer priced at $779. Buyer beware.
They often do not complete the maintenance they say they have. If looking for parts for 5th wheel purchased there, they are often giving you wrong info. Ive picked up my unit on numerous times where General RV has said the maintenance and/or repairs were completed, but guess what, they werent even touched, and it has to be pre-paid. Take your chances.
If you are looking for honesty, compassion, loyalty, or being treated like you are important and a priority, stay far away from this circus.Smoke and mirrors, its all an illusion! Once they get your money, and you drive off that lot, you become less than zero to them!Do yourself a favor go to local small dealerships! Keep the money in little RV dealers, at the end of the day, they will appreciate you and your purchase and take care of you.General RV, only cares about their bottom line not their customers
Very happy with the service we received Sunday July 28, 2019 at General RV. Salesperson found exactly what I needed and a few things I wanted. I also received many tips to maintain my septic tank as well as information on a new mattress and recliners! I believe his name was Scott and he is the best! Very approachable, helpful, and friendly! If you need replacement parts/accessories make General RV your first stop!
Purchase and trade in they cant be beat. Now there service and parts department get an E for effort. 6 weeks on a order and cannot Even get confirmation of where it is. A repair on the side of a brand new $70,000 fifth wheel that popped back through a year and a half later and you would not honor your repair. Lol and now the latest, started to try and order a replacement part for my fifth wheel. 6 weeks later......we promise to return your call today. Lol that was a week ago
I had bought a used fifth wheel from the birch run location and had a few issues with the coach , but let me tell you these guys went above and beyond to service all the issues to their best ability, fast response, when I brought it in it work was done as fast as they could on short notice , then with a mistake which actually the just fixed the wrong part they fix the right part within a hour and had me on my way , I will using them again in the future and I wouldn’t recommend anyone else but them for any of your camping recreational vehicle needs , thank you so much general RV for the excellent service!!!!!!
Worst experience ever The person who checked me in could not answer some questions I had about my new trailer just kept saying I dont know when I asked for a person or tech said they dont come out for that and I would have to make another appointment for that. so after 3.5 hours a tech could have answered my question in 5 minutes.
Did not have a good experience from the beginning. I should of when with my first instinct. They claim they do a inspection and charge 900.00 dollars. We have had nothing but problems with our RV that we just got. Roof leaks. Lights on outside of RV dont work. There is a hole in the front of the trailer that was not there when we did our inspection. They never return your calls when you call them . Please consider buying from someone else.
Our slide out died 2 days before vaca. We called general rv got appt right away !!needed new tires -new slide out motor and we wanted a airconditioner for the bedroom—-things had to be ordered and Megan Whitney from the service dept went above and beyond for us!!!!parts where back ordered & she found them !!!! She kept us informed on everything and made sure we weren’t going to loose another vaca!!!she treated our 5 th wheel like it was her own and was really happy for us when we finally got to pick up our 5 th wheel ! She gave us the best cust service ever!!!she truly cares for her customers !! We have one more thing to get repaired and she is waiting for the part and will keep us informed ! She is the nicest person ! Ask for Megan if you need service !!!
Purchased a Momentum 25g in June the negotiations went really well other than dealing with five different people. It all went downhill on the day of pickup. After paying a significant amount for “prep” found multiple issues during the walkthrough. Person performing walkthrough clearly didn’t know what they were doing. While testing the rear bunks one side fell and the shaft came out of the motor, the awning was incorrectly adjusted and a couple other minor things. We were told hopefully they can fix it but we may have to make the 1.5 hour drive again. Luckily they were able to get everything resolved. We were told they were going to check all of the towing hardware to make sure we were safe. When getting ready to leave noticed no hitch locking pin had been installed when they hooked it up. Was also missing the cord adapter that was supposed to come with it. Went back to the entrance only to find the door locked. Luckily someone was just inside and let me in. They were able to get me the things that were missing and I was finally on my way. After arriving home started finding more issues. The bed that they “fixed” was adjusted incorrectly, the entrance door wouldn’t stay shut, one of the taillights had a broken screw and had pulled away from the silicone. I know that campers are not built to the highest standards as this is the third one that we have purchased in the last 4 years, but this was by far the worst dealer experience I have had. Will not be doing business with General Rv again. The dealer should put more effort into the things they sell.
Last spring we purchased a new fifth wheel, the unit a Grand Design we were told is the higher quality unit but this is probably not the actual case. Since owning the bedroom door locked and had to be removed to open. The fireplace stopped working, the control board failed, the water control panel cracked and the rear tires wore at twice the amount of the front. We made a appointment and drive the 1.5hours to take it in. First action was check warranty ( made me feel comfortable as a customer). The only thing done was replaced board and not sure yet if this solves the issue.everything else was need to order or its fine for the tires I am pretty sure most was not even checked. Now its the end of February so 4 months and not on word on items supposed to be ordered. I think the place is decent the sales person was great but the rest not so much.i would also not recommend grand design to anyone if this is the quality of their product also I would try another rv sales you may get better service than I. Dont think anyone except sales person cares here.
I wouldnt even give one star..went in there with our motorhome to get parts for it. Was thinking they would come out and look at it..get us the parts or order the parts we needed..thought it would be easier to just bring it in..so they could SEE exactly what we needed..all but one thing was on the outside .so we were not asking them to come into the motorhome. I could take a pic of the light on the inside..Anyway went in..girl behind counter was eating her lunch and acted like it was a huge inconvenience to wait on my husband and and then told him.. instead of coming out and looking...that we needed to write our Vin number down and the list of parts we needed and call them they can call us back with a quote .guess they dont want our business...wont stop there again!
Was told my brand new camper was ready to be picked up. Drove down to get it and it was damaged beyond belief. The demo specialist said she missed all of that on her walk-thru. I found 10 things wrong with it before i even stepped foot inside, and I didnt have to look to hard to find them. Their excuse was it had been sitting on the lot for a long time and that is why it was damaged. How would they think it is ok to sell a damaged trailer to someone at over $40K? Needless to say I went elsewhere, even after they offered to have a new one built for me
Waiting for my plate for my new RV. I have called to inquire 2 times previous to today - the 3rd time. Now, 6 weeks later General RV tells me they lost the documents needed by the State of Michigan to process my title. Additionally at the point of sale, They failed to produce satisfactory breakdown of costs. This has been a very disappointing transaction.
General RV in Birch Run does not care about people or doing any work to help people buy a travel trailer. I called telling Terry exactly what I was looking for. Never got a call back. I decided to personally go to the store on Saturday. I met with Mike and he showed me some RVs. The one I wanted to buy was in Ohio and he was going to work on it and call me on Monday. He NEVER called me back. The following weekend my husband and I purchased the exact RV from Lakeshore RV in Muskegon. Don’t bother with this company, go some place where they actually want to sell you an RV. Lisa
ASK FOR MARY IN SALES!! If you have never purchased an RV or even if you have go talk to Mary in sales. She is amazing to work with. We are first time RV buyers and Mary was fantastic. She took time to show us every unit that was in our budget and went over all the features and was 100% honest and genuine. We had two of our 3 young children with us when we went and she let them explore the trailers and without getting aggravated or annoyed. I cant say enough about how great she made the experience. Matt in service did our walk around at delivery and was fantastic. He knew we were new to camping and took the time to explain e everything in detail. Finance could have been better but i wont let that stop me from visiting Mary and the staff on our next RV purchase.
We purchased a 2021 Avenger 16BH in March from General RV in Birch Run. We absolutely love our new camper and cannot wait to get camping with it this summer! Our sales representative Adam Wenzlick was excellent! He was very knowledgeable and went over and above to help us through the purchasing process. He even gave us a FaceTime walk through of the couple units we were interested in, which was extremely helpful so that we didn’t have to come out to the dealership multiple times, especially during Covid! We would definitely do business with Adam again!
We had a horrible experience with these shiesters. The salesman lied to us, the finance rep. Lied to us, and to make it even better, the maintenance tech lied to us when going over our 5th wheeler. We came back in, and even when I to them I had video of the tech lieing to us, they didnt even care to see it. They couldnt of been more smug, and we spent 70 grand with them in the last 3 years. That did not matter to them at all. Ppl should know how they are. We only went with them because they had a bigger inventory than anywhere else around. Horrible business. It wouldnt even of taken much to make us happy, but they wouldnt do anythong
Don’t waste your time here. Bought a fifth wheel here October of 2019, called twice to get it serviced October 2020; 2 and a half weeks later now never a call back after leaving my info with the secretary both times. Take your business to someone who will appreciate it. Wish I would have seen all the other bad reviews before I bought a rv here....
Took our 5th wheel in to have the wheel bearings repacked. They gave me a price for the job, I took it in to have them do it. Half an hour later I get a phone call telling me it will be substantial more because I have disc brakes. Drove back to dispute the cost and finally settled on $50 more. One month later I get new tires at a different place. What I found nearly every wheel lug nut was cross threaded. I took pictures and videos. Went to the dealership expecting a hard time to get them to fix what they had done. I was extremely shocked they said they would do whatever it takes to make it right. Long story short they reimbursed me for 32 studs and lugnuts and sent two mechanics to the campground to change them out. I was told the mechanic that repacked the wheel bearings no longer works for them.
Bought a Brand new Triton 3551 toy hauler. They are nice. There were a few issues when we did our walk through. The basement storage door key did not work. The shower drain was dented in. The hot water heater wasn’t working. A few other small issues. They said all of this would get fixed before we took delivery. We opened it up for the first time yesterday to start loading her up. We found that the black pipe from the toilet was leaking. Had antifreeze all around it and the floor in storage was wet. Started checking the rest of the stuff and found nothing had been fixed before we took it. I called first thing today up to birch run. I’d wait a couple hours a call back again. Finally after all day of waiting I get a call back. The lady in service was rude. She was speaking with an attitude towards me. I told her we bought it a couple months ago from them and she asked well did you buy it from us...pretty sure that’s what I just said. So to make this shorter, they were really friendly getting us to buy a unit from them but after the purchase it’s been nothing but rudeness....my advice, if someone else wants a little more for the same unit and has great customer service AFTER you buy it, go with them instead. All units have issues, but they had our camper for a month and never fixed one thing....what does that tell you....You see a lot of 5 starts for selling a camper but please read the service reviews below. I am not the only one with this issue. If I had taken the time to read all the reviews we probably would have went somewhere else. This is not a review to bad mouth general rv. It’s a review telling you buyer beware. Your camper will need service at some point. Take the time to think about how much trouble you want to go through to get it fixed...
Very annoyed with the service department. I am sick and tired of them telling me they are going to call me back and it never happens. I understand my original service writer was let go, but I got a text message on Tuesday that he was let go but someone would contact me tomorrow. No one contacted me so finally today ( Thursday), I called and was told someone would call me. 4 hours later I was called and found out that the part that was needed for an appointment I made a month ago was never ordered. Fine. Its been a busy year and there was a screw up, Im not thrilled but I will deal with it. So the new service writer I talked to (I did not write her name down, my fault) said she was going to talk to the original parts guy I talked to in my initial call a month ago and she would call me right back. I waited for two hours before I tried to call back because the original plan to drop off my RV involved me taking work off for part of the day tomorrow so I NEED TO KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON. Now when I call back I find out the service dept is closed at 5:00. I understand stuff happens but at least have the courtesy to CALL ME BACK. Apparently once someone signs on the line, customer service in no longer relevant.
We recently purchased a new RV from them. Salesman was helpful. We found exactly what we wanted. I would give 5 stars if that was the end. Unfortunately they undervalued our trade on by almost 50%. We had to pull up the NADA value to prove they were under. We had other dealers offer the correct value without haggling.
We were greeted with friendly smiles as soon as we walked through the door. We were offered refreshments that were well prepared and presented to Customers. Our Salesman (Cody) was very sharp; helpful; a good communicator; and customer focused. Scottie (Sales) was also very good to work with and helped us to structure a deal that we loved. The Business Managers (2) cant recall their names were also excellent to deal with and very informative and helpful. When we went to inspect the travel trailer Travis greeted us and personally introduced us to Keith in service. Keith was very conscientious in guiding us through the features of the trailer and showed genuine concern to have us happy with our purchase. Every inch of the Birch Run facility both inside and out was clean; organized; and well kept. Both my wife and I were very impressed with every interaction and are hopeful that the same level of service and professionalism will be available to us and our friends for future purchases. Sincerely, Glenn & Anna C.
Scott the team member was helpful in answering my questions and helping to find the parts I was looking for. I did not come in to spend thousands of dollars or to buy a camper just parts for mine and he didn’t treat me any different. Not every business will give the same time and good attitude to someone who only spends 100$ verses someone who comes in to buy big. Will be back and recommend to others. The lady at the front desk greeted on the way in and on the way out which shows they are paying attention.
Dropped my 5th wheel off to take care of a couple problems and get it ready for the season. Made an appointment, got right in and explained to the service tech exactly what I was looking for. She understood completely and made suggestions as to what would be best for me. Two hours later I was called, it was completed and I picked it up. Everything went very smoothly.
Watch out for the service department. We had work done on our 5th wheel there. We were charged for 7.5 hours ( @ $165 per hour, no less) for a job that service book time said they should have charged 4.5 hours for (at most to complete) start to finish.Thankfully our extended warranty contract did reimburse us for what the charges should have been.Either they are incompetent and should be replaced or they are ripping people off. They definitely lost a customer and we will spread the word.
Michelle Bracken was the sales representative that I dealt with throughout the duration of my RV purchase. I have only positive things to say about her friendliness and willingness to help. The walk-through before I took the RV home was very thorough and helpful. Some negatives:- The folks in the financing department were not looking out for the best interest of the customer. On multiple occasions, the staff was asking financial related questions that were clearly a way to feel out what price I could afford as opposed to putting a fair price tag on my RV. The financial lead was unwilling to have face to face discussions and instead sent the sales representative back and forth in a game of telephone. A price was made based on what I could afford to pay monthly, not based on fair market value. Only after learning in the following days that I had done my due diligence and shopped around were they willing to offer a closer-to-fair price. A time crunch forced me to still overpay, although it was approximately $3,000 less than what was originally offered to me.- My truck was taken into their service department to install a trailer brake controller. Not only did they recklessly screw the controller straight through the interior finish in my truck (some sort of adhesive would have served well), they also scratched the exterior of my truck on the passenger side. As someone who takes great care of their vehicle, I instantly noticed the damage that was not present before allowing them to take it in back. Obviously, without any proof that they were responsible, I was left with no options.- Upon finalizing my financing, the gentleman who I dealt with made endless attempts to sell me additional options on my RV and numerous forms of additional insurance coverage. I made it clear that all the insurance coverage that I desired was already covered with my own insurance policy. In a true attempt at intimidation, he very clearly threw out exaggerated prices that I would face later on if I did not buy additional insurance coverage on the various components of my RV ($7,000 to replace the refrigerator on my own). After standing my ground (which the customer is entitled to) he proceeded to make the duration of the purchase extremely unpleasant. All in all: I am satisfied with my product and truly unsatisfied with my experience at General RV. I will not do business with them in the future and will not recommend them to my friends and family.
My visit at the Birch Run store was very enjoyable! I was very impressed with Karis knowledge of the products and of how friendly she was. She made me feel at ease with the process and I soon as my husband and I are ready to decide on an RV, we will definitely be back to see her as our sales person!
We really liked how the staff at the Birch Run location went out of their way to make the unexpected delivery of our camper a reality. We live 90 minutes away, so we didn’t want to have to come back another day. The whole team worked very hard to make sure we left with the camper we chose! Excellent job from the team at Birch Run, and in delivering an all-around excellent customer service experience!!!
Poorly managed, severely lacking in training for demonstrator, piss poor service, didnt fix items before sale, didnt perform safety check before sale. One bright spot was Salesperson Alyssa(?) Troxell (?). Very personable, knowledgeable, empathetic, would ask specifically for her
Had a really good experience at General RV. Bought my first travel trailer. As a young buyer, Jill Perlman in finances went out of her way to help me get approved for a loan. Rob McGowan was my sales representative and he was extremely helpful in finding the right travel trailer for me, and getting me the best price he could. Aaron Barnes, a delivery specialist, walked me through the trailer explaining every detail and was super helpful in answering any questions I had.
Looking online for a dump station, pulled right in, asked where to pay, guided quickly to the parts counter. Staff quick, friendly, following CDC guidlines, dump station easy to get to, clean, dump hose and water provided. Fantastic. Facility, clean and organized. Even though we arent looking for a new RV, when we do, well keep General in mind just because of this one experience.
The staff was endlessly patient with us and willing to work with our extended warranty company. The work was done in a timely manner and didnt take weeks like other places have in the past. When we had questions, the shop foreman was available to chat. Weve finally found an RV service center that not only knows what theyre doing, but also arent out to waste anyones time or money. Any RVs I have in the future will go here for service.
Caleb was our sales person at General RV in Birch Run. What a great guy. He went beyond our expectations with meeting our needs while buying a used RV. He wasnt pushy, listened well and we got exactly what we wanted. We are first time buyers with General RV and the whole experience was great. Ask for Caleb. He will take good care of you!
Our sales person, Travis was awesome!!! Got us the perfect camper at an awesome price. Nick, our delivery specialist explained everything we needed to know. I have bought campers from other dealerships in the past, have never had the special VIP treatment like we got from General RV. Thank you!
I live 2 hrs away and inquired through their site about a travel trailer listed on their site. There is no price listed on the ad for the TT because they want to interact with you right? So I opted for the Price Request function. I received no response. I then submitted a credit app saying to myself this is probably because they are busy. Still no response. If this is the way I am treated when looking to buy, how will I be treated when I have an issue? No thank you.
I decided to purchase a 5th wheel this year. I went to quite a few places to find what I really wanted. I kept going back to General RV because of my salesman Caleb. He was always so helpful and answered any and all of my questions. When it came time to pick up my trailer, I noticed an area in the flooring that was bad. It was immediately repaired. I was very impressed. We have used it the last few weekends and each time we fall more in love with it. It is exactly what we wanted. I will purchase my next one from Caleb!Tim T.
Very pleased Brian Slaughter and Jason Kibbe very helpful...Outstanding people !!!!! Cant thank them enough for all their help this morning getting us on the road with our new trailer. Also young lady that help at service desk calling another center to hold set of sheets for us. Karen and Chick
I had a great experience shopping for a camper. Michelle Bracken is a great sales lady. She was more than helpful even when I had a few issues with the camper. Which is normal I bought a used one. I would recommend if you are looking for an outgoing sales person that follows thru. Go see Michelle
After making a purchase of a used unit from a private seller, I wanted the manufacturers dealer to make some additions. Called and after 45 mins got a price from parts, then transferred to service for installed quote. Bounced between 3-4 people ending in a voicemail. Here we are over a week later, walked into the showroom, then to service, quickly was greeted and the rep went on a mission to get answers. Well after about 5 mins, he returned with the answer IF that fits it’s 3 hours to install at $199/hr. I buy a $300+ hitch and then pay almost $600 to install and you cannot even tell me if it will fit before I travel over an hour with my trailer? You are the dealer, you should know what fits what you sell. Sorry General, $199/hr service rate is a joke and you cannot say what fits what you sell is also a joke. Some people may not like my opinion but my first visit here will be my last. Rose City RV will be my Keystone dealer of choice!
Purchased a new trailer. Had several repair issues. Took 4 weeks to get and order parts. Did not return calls to service dept. Had to talk to general manager to get results.Follow-up - no body shop at this location, making very slow warranty processing, call backs from service may take all day if they call back at all.
Bought our first camping trailer featured at the Feb Birch Run Show this yr! Sales staff at General R.V. are nice, the techs are knowledgeable about their products and take all the time you need to go over particulars, the finance team is great and we were very pleased overall with the entire experience purchasing from them.
Very disappointed my Nephew bought a camper when they did the walk through the person doing it new nothing about the camper and how anything work on it and a lot of things were not working on the camper that should have been fixed pride to us coming there. that was told to the Salmans Ivan that need to be fixed very unhappy with how that day went
I am a huge fan of General RV in Birch Run....the staff is attentive! The service department is top shelf and the overall experience is always memorable! Ive purchased two units in the past 15 years....a pop up and just last year a 2014 Keystone Cougar 21RBS....both times I was treated like a rock star!
Such a great experience! Caleb helped us find the perfect camper for our family. He continued to follow up throughout the entire process to ensure we were all on the same page. We appreciated the welcoming environment, and the fact that everything was processed extremely quickly despite our indecisiveness! Thank you general RV!
General RV provided exemplary service for us when no other dealership would help for at two weeks in the future; that is not service when one is on the road. Russ and Leo are true believers in yoga, they absolutely bent over backwards to help us within a few days resolving our issues with professionalism and affordability. We did not purchase the RV from General, yet it made no difference to them, they were there for the customer and it gives me great pleasure to commend them on their work.
When I first contacted General RV about toy haulers, we were connected with Alyssa. She showed us what they had on the lot and when we didnt find what we were looking for she said she would keep searching and promised she would find the one. She continued to follow up with new ones she found, never was annoyed when we said it wasnt the one.....she finally came through and found what we were looking for! We appreciated how nice and helpful she was through the whole process! Thank you again Alyssa!
I have had a very good experience here. When I bought my travel trailer, the service department went over an above to make my vehicle ready. There was an old hitch rusted in to the receiver. Tim in service was able to heat hit up and get it out. He saved me from having to buy a whole new setup.
We went in because of a sale. We were assigned salesman Ryan who first day down with us and got to know our needs/wants/budget.That narrowed the zillion page stock list down to 2 units (1 not on site, yet.)The guy knows his stuff! He answered all my questions without looking/sounding condescending. He admitted when he didnt know a particular models floor plan by heart (humble) , and when I pulled it up on my phone, he looked at it and then took us right to a different make. RV with that floorplan.Bonus: he was able to tell by his stock report exactly where the RV was, AND it was right where it was supposed to be!We did not have to walk blindly up and down rows to try to find it.We havent decided yet in our model, but we found our salesman!
This has been my best experience in a purchase EVER!Everyone courteous and very pleasant. They went over entire camper and explained everything. Walked me through parts department and showed me items that I will be using during camping. The finance department was very informative and explained financing and extra coverages. I LOVE THIS PLACE and will recommend it to anyone looking for an RV!!!
Spent 75,000 on new class c motor home. When going to get service work it was the very worst service I have had anywhere ever. patty the service manager is DEFINITELY some ones EX . Because no one would ever put up with being talked to the way she did my wife.. Once they have your money, new equipment even your NOTHING TO THEM WITH YOUR WARRANTY!!Buy from a smaller dealer where they care!!! THESE GUYS ARE NOT THE ANSWER
What a great experience I had at General RV. Jeff Stover are sales person was awesome to deal with. He found a Motor home at another store and had it brought over the next day. Jeff took us though it and let us test drive it. He went over and above to make us part of General RV family on a day we were just looking. Thank You Jeff!!
Sandie went out of her way and stayed even when the store was closed to seal the deal. We bought from general 6 years a go how have they changed very professional great transaction and got what we wanted for are motor home. Thanks againand Dan the financial man did what he promised he made it very easy transition.evening the walk around man junior answer all are questions and very knowledgeable about are rv.cant remember every body but it started when we walk in to the girls up front till we were done keep up the good work
This is the 2nd time going to General RV. Traded in a pop up for a new camper. Kari, my sales lady was beyond amazing!!! She was super helpful (I bugged her A LOT), she even surprised me with Birthday balloons during my walk thru!! I cant say enough on how helpful Kari was!! Mary Anne and Jose were also outstanding! Jill in finance was so helpful too!! The guys in service were amazing also! I am so glad I went back to them for an upgrade! I would highly recommend Kari, and General RV for you camping needs!! Everyone is super helpful and friendly!! :)
We purchased a 2015 Thor ACE on June 25,2014. The first problem became apparent on our test drive with your salesperson, Dan Lilac. He noticed that the dash air conditioning wasnt working and commented that the unit was likely not charged. We thought he would take care of that, but he did nothing, seems his commission was locked in. The lack of attention to the air conditioning became apparent on a September trip to Colorado and the air was needed. We had to pay for repairs since we could not find a Thor facility within 150 miles. But back to the other problems, on July 14, we dropped it off for some warranty items. There were 2 gaps in the floor between the chassis and the body. The table between the captains chairs was damaged and needed to be ordered/replaced. The linen closet had a crack in the door, needed to be ordered/replaced. The windshield curtain was missing a slider and the track was pinched. A dash vent had what appeared to be construction debris in it, and would need to be ordered/replaced. The sliding door at the steps (mud room) was jammed. We left the unit with your facility and was advised the table and linen closet door would be ordered. Two weeks later, we picked up the unit to make a trip.Only 2 of 8 repairs (a gap in the floor in the bedroom had been filled with foam and a clip had been replaced on the dash curtain) of 8 had been accomplished. The verbal commitment from your service department was that they would call when the parts arrived and we would return the unit for the completion of the warranty items. On repeated phone calls to your service department, we were told that the parts had not arrived and they had not received authorization from Thor to do warranty items. On July 31, we placed a call to Thor asking for the status of the parts. The parts had not been ordered. And no records existed of any calls asking for authorization. The parts were then ordered on that day, after we placed another call to your service department.Completely dissatisfied with your facility, we took the unit to another Thor dealer. We waited while they performed the necessary warranty items, 2 hours. They ordered the parts while we waited. They have out-shined your company in every way. And we are happy with our Thor ACE.Scott Dodge, please recall that you and I had at least 2 conversations regarding these problems, but you made promises that were never kept.
Purchased a new Grand Design trailer a few weeks ago, had some minor issues that needed to be fixed. Made appointment, dropped it off on Monday night, Ashley told me everything would be fixed by Wednesday. Ashley called on Wednesday afternoon to say it was finished and I could pick it up. All issues were repaired correctly. Great service!
We received very poor customer service from General Rv in Birch run. Needed to get locks/latches fixed on our travel trailer and the kitchen faucet. Was given the run around for two weeks from one of their advisors and all I wanted to do was set up an appointment for techs. Techs. to service it. But instead had to take pictures and send to her and answer alot of unnecessary questions. Called another Rv service place and took it in within a couple days and was fixed in one!!! Take my advice if your Rv or trailer needs servicing and you didnt buy it from them, dont waste your time, and call someone else!!?
Your place (supercenter!) is loaded with all the RV goodies any happy camper could possibly be looking for! And Im sure theyd order items in if they didnt have it in stock. Lights, latches, caps, covers and the big stuff too! I bought my camper here in 2006 and General RV has helped me keep my camper in top condition - they replaced my awning fabric last year, l really couldnt be happier. This visit repaired a vent mechanism and Im installing new LED lighting a few at a time. P.S.- If your a member, you will get YETI at a lower price than anywhere!
We had a very good experience at General RV Center. We were supposed to have a full tank of gas when we left but didnt. Called salesman and he said email him the gas receipt and he would send us a check. Lots of paperwork which was tiring and took a long time. Overall we are glad we found General RV Center.
Was not impressed the first time I came here but my boyfriend wanted to check them out again so i gave them a second shot and so glad I did. Rusty Dodge is an amazing associate and I am so glad we stopped. He was very pleasant from meet and greet to walking us out the door. They didnt have what we are looking for at the moment but as soon as they do we will be back. He saved the reputation in my eyes for sure.
I purchased a 2016 Thor Hurricane in August 2015 from General RV. During the whole process they were just great. The sales staff took their time to answered all my questions. I never felt rushed to buy. The financial staff walked me thru available options without pressure to buy add on products. The options that I elected to purchase were fully explained. The walk thru was thorough and complete and not rushed. The response to after purchase questions have been has been great. I would highly recommend General RV, especially Kyle, Jill, Keith and Joe.
Great experience on my first purchase with General RV in Birch Run, MI. Facilities were really nice and our salesperson was friendly and helpful. This was our second RV purchase and while RVing with the family is an awesome experience, its important to remember that a RV is essentially a house on wheels and WILL need care and maintenance to keep it useful and comfortable. We purchased a Coachmen Freedom Express Liberty Edition and already thoroughly enjoying it!
We found a Motorhome online at General RV Tampa. Working with Casey at Birch Run, we researched it, and other similar units. Casey worked with the Tampa staff to get more photos and even a detailed video walkthrough of the coach. Casey and Dan handled the whole purchase and finance process by phone and email, and when everything was ready, had the unit brought to Birch Run. There were a few things that weren’t working right and they got them fixed right away. Scott patiently walked us through every feature and system on delivery. It’s stressful to do such a big purchase long distance, but this team made it easy. We couldn’t be happier with our Winnebago Class A, and the General Birch Run team.
Worst warranty service experience I ever had. I wish google had negative star ratings available.Spent weeks in June trying to reach a human in service department.Calls not answered. Calls and emails not returned. Called Coachmen to request warranty repairs be done somewhere else. General RVs Service Manager called within hours. Didnt get any better. 4 months to get some small repairs done. Trailer was dirty on the inside after the work was done. Nails, saw dust, grease, wall damage. We will NEVER spend a dime in any of General RV locations again.
Huge place with over priced accessories. That being said said, I was having some sway issues and called to see if you they could take a look. They said pull right in, in the interest of safety. I didnt buy my rig there and said it was a month wait to bring in for service. I cant thank them enough for the service. I will surely give them my business again.
I do not normally do these reviews unless I have something good to say. I have to say I was blown away with the experience and professionalism Rob Mcgowan showed my mother. He made her feel special and got her a great deal. I will be buying soon and it will be from General RV and Rob.
Bought our first RV at the show, show experience was great! Went for our walk through to show us how everything worked. Staff friendly, but felt rushed and being a new rv owner we had questions that werent answered. Wasnt shown where the black tank drain was. Had question of grey water tank, emptying into black water tank, doesnt seem like a great set up as black tank will fill after a couple showers, assured that wasnt the case. A list of things that werent working or hooked up . Delivery day! Rv delivered without the big black POWER CORD !! Drive about an hour back to General RV to get power cord, and no type of compensation even offered. Plus they left a dirty rag on the floor. DISAPPOINTED all around with this first time experience.
Hey guys! We are writing to commend you all on your professionalism during our recent purchase. We bought a 2016 Exis last weekat Birch Run and we were so impressed by everyone there. The people who took care of us were friendly, informative, professional andvery accommodating. This is our 3rd Motorhome and we were very impressed about how nicely everything was streamlined for us.Mike Shoot is an exceptional salesperson, he was very informative, low-key, no pressure sort of guy and he was friendly and very helpfulin trying to get us what we wanted while keeping within our budget. We felt he was honest and sincere. Plus he was very good at communicatingwith us, re-arranging our visit at the very last minute and accommodating to our work schedules. He stayed late on a Friday night to get the job done and we think Mike is awesome! He must be very valued by your company. We arrived late on a Friday, pretty close to closing time. We had to reschedule twice due to an incoming snowstorm and our travel time….yet everyone was very friendly, did not rush us, and made us feel like it did not matter. (We all know that on Fridays everyone wants to leave and get home at the end of the day to start their weekend.) We felt terrible arriving late and holding everyone up. Nobody made us feel that way. Keith was just wonderful! He took us through our new rig and he was exceptional in every way. He told us exactly what we needed to know, answered all our questions, and he was concise, efficient and very thorough. He gave us little helpful tips and made sure we were comfortable with the mechanics, inside and outside of the new motorhome. And he was extremely friendly too….he did not rush us or make it seem like he needed to leave. He really seemed to enjoy his job and he was so knowledgeable, we were very impressed. You should keep him as long as you can (and give him a raise).Unfortunately I cannot recall the names of the 2 nice closing people. One was a young gal and the other was brand new and he was closing our dealwith her assistance. They were wonderful as well. They were professional, warm and friendly, very informative and thorough, explaining everything with the paperwork and again, not rushing us, not making us feel like they were in a hurry and they were awesome too. We could not have asked for a betterclosing experience. They kept everything as easy for us as they could. We do not want to malign anyone else, or spread any bad karma, but we have purchased a motorhome at the General RV a few years back in Mount Clemons and that experience was nothing like this one. We have returned there a few times for other issues and that experience is something we will probably never want to repeat. It is much closer to our home to drive to Mt Clemens but we will never go back there again. The Mount Clemens branch and your branch are like night and day opposite. We are Birch Run’s new biggest fans and we will be recommending you all so highly to our family, friends and colleagues. We appreciate every one of you and how you do your jobs.We just wanted to say Thank you to your whole entire team. We were talking about all of you on the way home, and how great you all were andhow that place runs like a well-oiled machine. Customer service seems so lacking in many places today and your place is certainly not one of them. We were utterly and pleasantly surprised at every detail. Good Lord…..even your bathrooms were exceptionally clean!!! And a clean bathroom that sparklesis not required but it sure does help!!! Someone cleans those bathrooms and they are doing a swell job too, and customers do notice. Everyone clearly takes pride in their work, whether they are service personnel, office personnel or in the finance department. Thanks again for a great purchase experience. We appreciate all of you. Everyone really made this purchase a real pleasure.Hugh and Shannon DohertyJeddo, Michigan
Caleb did an excellent job selling us our 2019 Keystone Cougar! Great Camper at a Great price with motivated General RV Employees have made it possible for us to live our dream! Thankyou to Caleb and to General RV for such great, quick customer service. Excited to be touring the Great Lakes State with the help of General RV!
On June 30, 2016 my mom, kids and I stopped to look for a pop-up. We came in with $7k pre approval, which four other dealers wouldnt help us with. Rusty Dodge came to see what we were looking for. I told him what I needed and was looking for, he looked at my kids and said you wont leave here without one. Which we didnt and the best part he included the kids in the buying process and made them feel important! Wonderful customer service!
Went only to look around, Casey listened to what we were looking for and showed us what y’all had in stock. Nothing really matched but he said the was a unit close by and could get there in 2 days. It was exactly what we were looking for. Closed on it 5 days later, and that was during the July 4th holiday. Great sales and closing experience!
Absolutely the worst service I have ever experienced. Bought unit new from them leaked the first time out. Took it in only to get it back with several burn holes in comforter and sheets. If that wasnt bad enough it took them over a month to issue a $20 check for sheet replacement. Has been in 1 other time took over 10 days that time. This time has been 21 days and counting. Even worse Leo dont return my voicemail. Email his boss no response yet been a week. STAY AWAY
We stopped in yesterday while passing through to grab a few items for our horse trailer that also has living quarters. ryan talked to us in parts while walking us around showing us which waste hose would work best for us chemicals for our toilet and explained how the wifi systems work. he also explained our tank flush system and how it works..he was very helpful friendly and paitient with us for all the questions we asked and informative. thank you
Caution, I was warned about dealing with General RV. Well I mistakenly didnt listen and went to the Birch Run store. We did find the trailer we were looking for, and everything went well. However I had two experiences with the service department since all I can say is terrible and thats being kind. My last call was two weeks ago and still waiting for a return call from Patty. After three calls and a return message telling me she went home sick and would call me in the morning again that was two weeks ago and no call. After they got my money everything went to hell. SERVICE IS TERRIBLE, and again thats being kind.
The Birch Run store is to be avoided at all costs. We are still dealing with the nightmare that all began there. They do not care about their customers and will not stand behind anything. The general manager said as much when he called my husband about a bad review he left. Never an Im sorry, what can we do...oh no, instead he tried to justify the underhanded things they did all while telling my husband what percentage of customers were satisfied. Thats all well and good but what about us and the others who arent?? Stay away from Birch Run General RV.
We have dealt with General RV for a number of years off and on when we are in the area of Birch Run.Although, we have not had any RV problems, we have purchased several products from the store and always have had good service. In addition, it is very easy to park no matter what kind of RV you own. Their parking area is very large.Since the last time were there they have expanded their building as well.
We recently purchased a Winnebago from General RV. Craig was our sales person. Jill was our financial person, and Joel was our service person. We could not be happier with the service that we received from all of them . They all went over the bar when it comes to customer service.... I have told everyone who would listen to me, how satisfied we are. They will get our business in the future......
I’ll start by saying that I’m not a person who uses reviews as a way bad mouth a business. Working in a sales and service business myself for the last 15 years, I understand how important your public image is. I also know that the only way to build that image is to EARN it. I wish that I could leave a 5 star review for General RV but sadly I can’t. If there were a 0 star review, I would have selected it.At the end of the day, I feel I can blame myself as much as General RV. I like most, read the reviews before buying my new 5th wheel and had reservations but rather than going with my gut, I pulled the trigger and spent $50k with this place. In hind sight, I should have known better.Don’t make the same mistake I did. This place absolutely offers little to no service after the sale. They’re a volume driven business that refers to you by a customer number rather than your name.I’ve got a rather concerning issues with the side of my 5th wheel actually cracking. I notified their service writer of the issue back in August, showed them the issue in person, started case with the manufacturer as the writer instructed me to, then the manufacturer told me that the dealer needed to start the claim. I forwarded the email from the manufacturer back to general RV. A month went by with no word from General RV. After becoming frustrated with the lack of communication, and the approaching winter I decided to email their service department and let them know my distaste with the way I was being helped by their service writer. Much to my surprise, they actually had that service writer call me and bring me up to speed. She was snippy and didn’t really give me any indication that they were doing what they could to rectify the situation. That was back in September. December is almost here, I still have a hole in the side of my camper, and haven’t heard a word from them. Now it’s starting to look like I’ll faced with nothing but bad scenarios. Best case scenario, this review actually prompts them to reach out to me to scheduale time to get the camper in ASAP and have it fixed. This means that I’ll need to pull it 60 miles on winter roads subjecting it to conditions I’d rather not. The more likely of two scenarios is that I’ll be taking it back to them in the spring, ruiening at least the start of my family’s 2018 season. No matter the outcome, at this point I’m done with them. I won’t spend another penny with this place and I’d recommend that you don’t either. Don’t just take my word for it, take the time and read their reviews. It’s always their service department, that leaves folks unhappy. Im sure this will be followed up with a generic reply from them expressing how much they care about customer satisfaction and how they’re continually working to improve. That all sounds nice, but it’s time for action rather than words.
This dealer will go above and beyond to take care of there customers. I have purchased 3 inits from general RV, and they have done outstanding on repairs. But the fun part is in the buying of a unit. They sell at a fair price and delivery on time. They take there time to help find the unit that works for you.
The absolute worst camping store I have ever been to.From the salesman to the financial people just terrible. This is the birch run store.Had the deal all set the day before we were supposed to pick it up the price jumped$8000 dollars. Thanks General to you I did find a very nice and family orientated camper dealer in Chesaning.Awesome people. By the way im still waiting for my deposit of $1000. Been almost a month
The staff at General RV Birch Run are really a great team. The receptionists, the sales staff, the parts department, and the service department all have very qualified individuals who provide you with the information that you need in order to make the best choice for you and your family. We just bought our 4th rv from them and we love it. When we have questions, they make sure that we are provided with the information that we need. We wouldnt consider buying an RV anywhere else!

2022-04-20Very Pleased with our experience! Our Sales Rep. Ivann Polard made it his goal for over 6 mo. to keep in touch and notify us of the best deals on the lot up until we were ready to purchase our new house on wheels! Ivann always seemed to have our personal needs in mind when choosing specific coachs to fit our family and lifestyle!! It literally took 1 day when we arrived to settle on our new RV and it fit us perfectly! Thank you Ivann for being so attentive and working so hard to make sure our RV was the right fit!

2022-04-02Our Salesman, Adam W., was very friendly and courteous. We first sat at his desk and discussed our traveling needs and basic budget requirements. Adam then took us out to the lot and gave us an informative tour of several units within our pulling capacity. He made note of the features we liked and also the ones we didn’t care for. Our time at the dealership was well spent. Adam was very helpful and knowledgeable. At no time did we experience any type of high-pressure tactics. We greatly appreciated spending time with him and his immediate follow-up and availability! He provided answers to all of our questions and made us feel comfortable as we were introduced to the World of Recreational Vehicles.

2022-04-22Have had great experience with this dealership. Obviously bought the camper that was above my price range but i got everything i wanted and more! Further more i CANNOT praise Lori in parts enough! This wasn’t my first time with her helping me! But she is always so positive and happy and made sure i was happy and taken care of and didn’t have to cancel my camping trip over a battery!

2021-10-05Alex was great, from our intro to talking about our travel plans and needs he was able to show us exactly what we were looking for. He didnt waste our time and was very straightforward with us, which we loved. From there we got to work with Jill and she was great! She worked on our deal for us and made it happen! On delivery day we got to meet Taylor and she did a wonderful job answering our questions and showing us our rig. We even had the service team install some addons day of delivery spur of the moment and they were able to knock it out for us! The staff there is wonderful and when its time to upgrade or get service we know where we will be going!

2022-05-12Great experience with our new RV! Our sales rep Bob Ariss was amazing and got us into what we wanted! The finance department was great as well Joe S thank you!!! Only giving 4 stars because after our purchase we were trying to buy accessories (supposed to get a discount and didn’t) and the service/parts area was less then helpful. They wouldn’t even look at us when we were trying to make purchases.. I will not get service or buy anything from there due to this..

2022-01-22I had a wonderful experience with General RV in Birch Run! I worked with Dennis James who was friendly, professional and very knowledgeable. I went in knowing what RV I wanted and Dennis talked to me at length about the features and price range I was considering and then he pulled up a few other models that had similar features so that we could compare them out on the lot. Even thought I was pretty sure I knew which RV I wanted, I hadnt seen it in person, so being able to look at similar models was extremely helpful and once we looked at my original choice, it made me feel even better and more confident with my choice. Im a big online researcher, but I really appreciated Dennis knowledge and I learned a lot from him by comparing different models and being able to stand in them and really get a feel for each RV. Dennis was also really great about asking questions about me and my wife to get a sense of how and where we were going to use our RV and he made some great additional suggestions based on this - I really appreciated this personal touch and his genuine interest in us and our lives - said another way, I never felt like I was dealing with a salesman. I couldnt be more pleased with my experience with General RV and I will be returning to Birch Run to work with Dennis in the future!

2022-06-08Love my RV however the delivery experience and follow through was HORRIBLE. We arrived at General RV in Birch Run at our scheduled delivery appointment time to find that they double scheduled our delivery rep. Now keep in mind that there is a fee upward of $1000 for your RV to be inspected to make sure everything is clean and in proper working order and a pressure check to make sure there are no leaks. The delivery Rep opens the back of the refrigerator and there are leaves and spiderwebs in it. She then demonstrated the electric awning and there are black spots and leaves rolled up in it. She claimed that they were still in the process of cleaning it. Demonstrated the stove only 2 of the burners 3 lit. She assured me that all of theses things would be resolved before we finished signing our paperwork. I had noticed the screen in the bathroom vent was covered in dust and didnt mention anything to see if when they were finished with the prep process if it would be gone. Well needless to say when we were done with the paperwork she walked us back to the prep area to show the leaves were removed from the back of the fridge and the awning was clean but of coarse the bathroom vent was still filthy. She had them clean that and we went back to the waiting area for them to hook it up to our truck and pull it around. When we got outside to leave I smell propane and was told oh that is normal as they just installed new tanks. As I pass the propane holding compartment I heard a hissing noise. Yes the line had a leak, oh and by the way they had not addressed the 3rd burner not working. The Service manager had to come out to the parking lot to fix the leaking propane line, as they were about to close. I also asked him to fix the 3rd burner as well which he did. Salesman promised a can of carpet cleaning spray and a wax crayon to match the interior to fill the holes where the toothbrush holders was but did not get it. I followed up several months later and was told that those items were ordered and they would call me when they came in. Ive owned the RV for over a year now and still have never received them nor heard from our salesman. We also had a referral name (I guess they supposedly send the person that refers you to them a check). Well the people that referred us to General RV never received their referral check. TERRIBLE follow through and poor customer service. Its like once the sale was complete the customer service ended. SO FRUSTRATING. Guess I will have to take my future business to the new RV Dealer down the road from them.

2022-01-29I just purchased my 3rd motor home from General RV my salesman was Ben Sexton the help I got was over the top he first educated me on all of the options he called the RV company and got every answer I needed he allowed me the time needed to make our minds up. He made it a fun process. I would recommend Ben to anyone looking for any RV.

2022-04-20From the time my family and I walked through your doors we were greeted with smiles and a warm welcome from everyone we came into contact with. We have to give a special shout out to Mary K., Jill P., and Jose for all of their time, energy, and efforts to help us with our first camper purchase; thank you! And because we know it takes a village, a big thank you to everyone working behind the scenes for getting our camper prepared and looking so nice to bring home. We are beyond thrilled with our experience and are just so appreciative of all y’all. Not to mention how well they took care of us and the added perks of buying from them! Shhhhh…I’m not sharing what those are, you have to find out for yourself. Go visit Mary K. at General RV, you won’t be disappointed!! Thank you General RV Team!
