GFL by far is the worst trash company I have ever had. Their employees are lazy, making messes in the street not picking it up. Breaking trash cans. I live on a dead end twisting one sided street and several times they have not even came to my house to empty trash. I call they say they will send them back by, nope. I pray Sterling Heights does not renew their contract.
Worst service ever! They miss picks and when you call you wait on hold for 30 minutes for them to tell you that you’ll need to call back the next day. You call back the next day and they tell you they will pick up and they don’t! My pickup is Wednesday and my garbage is still in front of my house on Saturday! I called 3 times! Maybe I should just take my garbage to their office!
So frustrated right now. I have a mattress and box spring and a bookshelf to go out for trash. My pickup day is Tuesday...so on monday i call gfl for bulk pickup! The lady asks me for my service address and tells me i just have to wrap the mattress and spring and put them by the roots. Come tuesday the bulk items were left at my curb and tagged. I then call tuesday and the lady i spoke with was rude and proceeds to tell me that because i live in a trailer park there is a fee to pick up bulk items.... which was why i had called on monday! So i then pay fee and she tells me they will pick it up by the end of the day. Still no pick up! So i leave until the following tuesday thinking maybe just my regular service date! Tuesday comes and again they pick up all the trashbut my bulk items. I then call for the 3rd time and am told that the route supervisor will indeed be by before the end of day to pick up the bulk items. Once again end of day and said items are still at my curb. So now the 4th call goes through and im told to bring my items up to the house until next Tuesday and they assure me if i drag them back out they will be picked up with my regular trash yet again! Oh they refuded me my 20 plus 5 for the inconvience.....but if i get sigted from my park for the trash outside there is nothing they can do its not their resposibiloty! Worst service ever!!!!
I live in Chesterfield and ever since GFL has taken over trash pickup, I noticed the job does not get done properly. The employees are lazy and won’t even lift a garbage can that maybe weighs 40 lbs with Grass in it. They leave trash cans broken and flip the cans over with garbage remaining in the can. When you pick the can up garbage is all over the ground. Also if you try to throw anything extra like a board, you need to take the nails out of it and cut it in 18” pieces. This is just ridiculous.
GFL please tell your workers who pickup our trash cans to stop throwing them down in the street to bounce and end up in the middle of the street. We are paying too much in property taxes for this poor and disrespectful service. Location: Southfield, MI Tuesday pickup (Evergreen Gardens - Tappart, Bershire, Fontana, and other streets. Cancelled this service due to missing pick ups on a consistent basis and when they did, they threw the recycled items in with the trash. Cancelled service in June of 2021, continued to get bills, and just today spoke with a very rude individual regarding this issue. The lack of customer service apparently runs through this entire company. Recommend Duncan...theyve been servicing our account for 6 months now...not one issue.
Worst ever. Lazy, leave trash all over the street and curb, cans always in the road. Never had these issues with Rizzo. Hard to believe it’s even the same company, they are a joke. Sterling Heights needs to find another service, they should at least have an Opt-Out plan in the city so we can defund these guys.06-14-2022 tell your degenerate drivers to to pay attention when they are driving and stop running over our street sign! Terrible service, customer service is not helpful at all, toute supervisor do not call back. They left my trash unpicked up for 14 days in the snow during Christmas and new year eve. I called numerous times last week & this week to get a missed pick up ticket issued but they never got back to me or helped me last week or this week. This week they picked half of the trash and left the other half setting around. Terrible, rude and unhelpful staff. Ive been on calls all day with them and got no help what so ever. The GFL customer service rep hung up the call rudely when I requested a written confirmation for the missed trashed pick up ticket confimration.. Rude, unprofessional and the worst waste management company I ever dealt with. I hired a third party company and paid them to get the trash removed because GFL would not do what they get paid to do.
When my garbage was picked up the garbage men took a huge branch out. After several calls they came and picked it up. But supervisor called us back regarding the tree. There should have been a follow up letter. Stating they have reviewed the photos received from us and the issue has been resolved. But nothing. Not very good business
Called at least 6 times always have to wait on hold 8-20min. No one has picked up recycling for well over 1 month. Office people basically say not my fault we will put in a request for it to be picked up, that is all they can do.... but they never come pick it up . Horrible customer service, they clearly do not care. Hopefully they dont get SCS again next contact negotiations! Be better GFL.
Worst service I have ever worked with. I manage a commercial account that GFL, services. You can not adjust your service, it takes months to get ANYONE to listen to you. Constant run around! From One department to the next has no idea what the next is doing!!! WORST COMPANY EVER TO DEAL WITH!!! Please do yourself a favor if you are looking to sign a contract with GFL, SERIOUSLY STOP and shop for an alternative, you will thank me later!!!!
Normally, they empty the dumpster and I dont think about them. But when they miss a pickup they tell you, their driver marked the location as collected even though you, the customer, says different. I have called multiple times and get the runaround. And, a supervisor cant call me back until guess when - after my next scheduled pickup! Its pathetic.
GFL does a horrible job of rendering its services. Incompetent in many ways. They rarely pick up my Mothers trash despite being on a busy highway and many trucks going by. I have to call and email them about half of the time to do their job correctly. They are obviously in a quasi-monopoly situation. I am strongly urging Northville Township not to renew their contract because of their incompetence and failure to do their job properly. How difficult is it to list an address on a route and then follow the route and pick up the trash? Their predecessor did a much better job.
Used to be great - trash, recycling, and yard waste would be gone before lunchtime on our assigned day. Now we’re lucky to see a garbage truck before the day after our assigned day. I get staffing is an issue, but I also know that the company made a choice to sign a contract with the City of Novi in the middle of all of their staffing shortage. That was their decision, not mine. It’s frustrating to see how much people in Novi love the prompt service GFL is providing when we’re lucky to get all of our waste picked up on a given week. I hope that Livonia is shopping around for a new company to handle our trash or recycling. I don’t know who is better, but I can’t imagine how it would be possible to be worse.
This company was wonderful for trash pick up and when I didn’t have to contact the company. However, their customer service is very subpar. I called to cancel our service as we had moved out of service range. I was told to take my bins with me. When I questioned why, as it didn’t make sense to me, I was then told I should leave them for the next owner. A week later, I was charged for 3 more months of service. I called to get a refund and was told I would have to provide proof I was charged. They admitted they charged me but I had to provide the proof they took my money. Again, it made absolutely no sense so I refused.I was told my refund will probably get rejected unless i provide my credit card statement. I decided I was getting no where with them so I called my credit card company and disputed it in 2 seconds. I was then called a day later by GFL to tell me my refund was denied lol. Seriously, they could see that I called to cancel and that they charged me yet they declined my refund. So unprofessional and bad business.
They skipped my recycling pickup, called them and have been on hold for over an hour...UPDATE- Next day- GFL still has not picked up my recycling bin. Currently sitting on hold. It is very difficult to contact them. Why am I paying for a service if my bin is not picked up?
Im not sure what is going on with the workers at GFL but I have two broken garbage cans for absolutely no reason thanks to their pick-up service. We have GFL through the City of Sterling Heights and we have complained about skipped service (two weeks in a row) and nothing was done. I get that COVID is causing staff shortages etc. but broken property? That we purchased? Inexcusable.
Had them for over 3 years, missed pickup at least once per month, now its every other week. I can never get through to them on the phone and website requests are never responded too. The only reason we stuck with them for so long is because they offered recycling. Now we notice the same truck picks up the garbage with our recycling.
So...last week my garbage was not picked up. I called on Monday....they told me to keep the cans at the street and they would pick up on Tuesday. That never happened. On Tuesday they told me it would be picked up on Wednesday. That never happened. I was transferred to the supervisor, Johnny at ext 40414, he PROMISED (I have voicemail to prove it) that my garbage would be picked up on Thursday. You got it! It never happened. So Friday is my scheduled pick up day. It would have to get picked up then, right? NOPE!! They came for my recycling...so they obviously know where I live. Some of you may be saying just call another company. Well its not that easy. Waste Management is not accepting new customers in our area. There is only 1 other company for our area and they want $165 a quarter!! This is just not right that we are at the mercy of a company that has such TERRIBLE customer service. What makes their customer service so bad is their operators are great actors! They will tell you exactly what you want to hear. And they are super nice and truly seemed concerned. Dont be fooled. Theyve been trained well. Bottom line, STAY AWAY from GFL if you can. Its an awful company to deal with.
Absolutely terrible job, they do not care about your cans! If trash Flys out while they are picking it up they leave it! They are too LAZY to get out of their truck to get trash outside the bins that you may have put on the curb. Absolute WORST customer service Ive ever dealt with. Takes over an hour to even get ahold of someone, unless your giving them money. Absolute joke of a company. Do better shelby!
Absolute worst customer service I have ever experienced!!! Tried to work with them to get a pickup, after 6 calls each time them telling us to do something different & doing it and saying they would come pick it up & then they still wont come pick it up. They cant give me to a manager, cant give me any names of anyone else to contact, cant tell me when someone would call me back. Absolute worst customer service & experience & extremely frustrating to deal with.
Not happy!! Im a new customer so at first I had patience. Now Im realizing this company is a joke!! My pick up didnt happen so I called on Wednesday to verify I was scheduled on the route for Friday. I was assured I was and that my garbage would be picked up. Well it wasnt. So I called on Monday...I was told to leave my cans down at the street and they it would be picked that day. Still not picked up. I called again. They are currently experiencing a high volume of calls....gee, I wonder why??? I am on hold for the 3rd time this morning because my first 2 calls were mysteriously dropped. If you have an option for your service, DO NOT use GFL
Its May 3rd and my trash and recycling has been missed. My cans are busted and broke and we just moved in, because they left my cans in the road each time. I live in the woods with animals and bugs. We need a trash can. They wont return any calls. Nor solve any problems. This is a horrible company. Return my calls now!!!!! I need a new trash can and my trash picked up. Ive called at least 9 times. No response and no call back. No service done, cans busted.
**Updated**I finally reached someone willing to assist me. As you can read below it was not without many weeks of trying. The customer service clearly needs to be revamped. The service itself has been good since getting the cans replaced. Apparently I had cans that were no longer in operation.Original 1 star: I have been calling for 4 weeks to get my recycling picked up. This is a paid service and I have never had an issue until now. I just want someone to show up. I have called on multiple occasions and been told a truck will be routed but it never shows up. I have multiple open tickets through the website as well and those have been ignored completely.
Terrible customer service. Called numerous times to pay my bill only to wait on hold twenty or more minutes each time. Couldn’t pay bill online because they changed their online services and I am required to link accounts. Could not link account because account number on last bill received was not showing up in the new online system. Finally got through to customer service and they want to charge an additional $4.95 to process a phone payment. I will be petitioning city council to change providers.
Called their service number and waited for a long time to get response.Trash pick up was on a Tuesday after no pickup and waiting for 1 day grace period because of inclement weather called them again on Thursday again.They said trash will be picked up.No pickup called them again today ( Friday Feb 19th 2021).Spoke to another person who said they have a note that it is in “progress” but could commit to a date.Asked to speak to a supervisor and I was informed they only take messages and some one will call back.
GFL operates the Armada refuse service on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month. Armada residents take their refuse and trash to the pickup point and GFL disposes of it. They are the third company that has provided the service and are, by far, the very best.There is no waiting. They empty my pickup even before I get out of ny truck. They are friendly, courteous and always glad to see the residents. This, ladies and gentlemen, is how a business should be run. Kudos to you, GFL, and the fine people you send to Armada. Thanx to each and all of you.
Worst service and customer service ever!!!! I went outside to get my compost can and they skipped it. Went down the street to inform them they missed my yard and the guy lied and said they have not come around yet. Drove back towards the other direction and everyone elses is dumped went back and told him he said they would come back around never did. Called Thursdays left voice mail to request service. Called Friday waited for over 40 mins and customer service said they would send someone out no show again.Called again Monday left voice mail no response, called Tuesday and was told supervisor closed it on Friday and they have no one in the area so wait till next pick up. No call no show not there problem worst company ever......
Rented a roll off for 7/31/2020 and as of 11:04PM, it was never delivered - and they don’t do weekend deliveries. We specifically requested today because we have work being done that requires it to our home this weekend. No solution was provided nor could we get in contact with anyone from their office during the day to find out where our contracted roll off was. They sure took their money ASAP and then disappeared when we needed answers. We have requested a full refund as the roll off will arrive after the contracted work will be completed. We will see how long they drag their feet at refunding us our monies since they did not deliver on the agreed upon contract.
NO STARS SHOULD BE AN OPTION.Careless! This company is worse then the garbage they forget to pick up. Over a span of MANY MONTHS my garbage and recycling was skipped every week. Sometimes just one, but usually both dumpsters.Literally called the company EVERY WEEK and emailed complaints in regards to these issues and was never contacted by management once. In most cases the problem was not corrected until the following weeks pick up. I Just received a bill with credit for only 1 missed pickup. They are expecting payments for services that we were not receiving. This is the most unprofessional, insulting, and careless company I have ever encountered. I will encourage everyone I know to switch companies and never give them a cent for there false advertising. I will give credit to most of there receptionists who for being polite and trying to help. Happy Day when we signed up with our new service with a smaller local company for a better price!
2 months ago I downgraded my garbage can to a smaller one (32 gallon) and I was assured by the representative at GFL that this would be no issue. Since then I have called every week because the driver refuses to pick up my can. Generally they have the garbage picked up within a day or 2 but rarely on actual garbage day.Today I actually was home when the truck came (truck 783 - Driver Warnell) and I went out to speak with him regarding the issue. He told me he didnt have to pick up the small can and refused to try. I asked him if he could please do it as I paid for the can and it is the same brand and premium plastic as every other 96 gallon can on the street and he refused again. I then immediately called customer service at 9am and June from GFL informed me that they should indeed pick up these smaller cans but only on bulk day.... guess what?! today was bulk day and as of 6pm the garbage has not been picked up.As requests to be called by managers or supervisors from the company over the past 2 months have been completely ignored. I will be escalating my complaints to whatever levels necessary simply to get my little garbage can picked. Thanks GFL for wasting my time.
Deplorable customer service. Signed up for yard waste pickup, paid the invoice via credit card. A few weeks later I get a bill from them for over $1,000 for yard waste pickup. I have to wait on hold for 30 minutes to get a representative to tell me its a mistake. Then, they dont pickup my yard waste. Again, I wait on hold for a representative, they assure me it will be picked up the following day. It was not. Here I am a month later on the day my yard waste is supposed to be picked up again, it was not picked up. In addition I received another bill charging me for yard waste pickup when I already paid it and have the paid invoice from them to prove it. Attempting to get a hold of customer service is a nightmare, you wait on hold every time for a minimum of 15 minutes. I will be cancelling my service.
I would give them a negative if i could!!!I phoned now at least 3 weeks ago for garbage pick up in Bruce Township. I was more than thrilled when I found out GFL was in Bruce Township as we moved from within Macomb County and was more than happy with the service previously.First week no pick up, second week no pick up. When I phoned, the office staff was very polite and indicated it would be picked up in 24 hours. Nothing picked up 24, 48 and 72 hours after my original day of Wednesday of last week. After, I spent each day calling and was assured it would picked up within 24 hrs. The last day, Friday, I spoke with a supervisor, Katrina who indicated the typical route person was on vacation, you know what happens when the routine person is out, alot gets missed. I was promised it would be picked up, the following day.....Cricket, Cricket.....to no surprise, no garbage pick up....So when I phoned on Monday, asking for a manager again, I received Katrina. Really, what can I say to her, she does not drive the garbage truck. You can only give so many excuses to such poor work quality. I was promised a phone call later on in the day as she was going to get in contact with the route manager to inquiry why such delinquency and lack of communication and overall poor service.At the last hour of the work day, I was able to speak with a manager, its pretty sad when you call and know both managers by name, Kristina and Katrina. At this point, I am just angry, I have prepaid for a service that is obviously not being completed. Kristina, was more than pleasant and once again gave me 24 hrs to have the garbage picked up. After, I hung up, I realized...what a minute, three strikes and you are out. These guys dont want or need your business. So I called back and cancelled a service that I paid for and never received service for....Sadly, I will never recommend GFL to anyone and based off other poor reviews, I am not alone. I would rather drive my recycle and garbage 20+ miles before ever contacting them again to initiate service.Hopefully, someone can get their act together and provide consistent, quality service.
Worst garbage company I have ever had! Didnt pick up my garbage or my neighbors after calling numerous times for 3 weeks! Was told each time someone would come out to pick up the trash. Route supervisor lied and said our trash cans werent out! Our trash cans are always out,we walk our trash to the cans! Cancelled and going with a better company! Seems like a lot of people I know are switching due to the same issue.
My recycling was missed 8/14/19 and I complained. It was picked up 8/15, but my mailbox was mowed down and my driveway camera showed only one truck on our street that day.I complained and on 8/17 I saw a GFL truck examining what was left of my mailbox. I called and was told it was in review. I emailed again 9/21 and the end of October got an email that they checked with their drivers and denied responsibility. In the meantime, our recycling was missed again 8/21, 9/11, 10/23, 10/30 . On 11/6 both trash and recycling were missed . Each time I called and/or emailed as did my neighbors. Customer service swore someone would be out to pick it up, but we ended up with weeks of piled up recycling. On 11/8/19 I called to cancel service and a supervisor Tiara promised she would talk to the route supervisors supervisor and take care of it. I requested her extension and email. I was honestly shocked when the recycling was not picked up 11/13 and shot off an email but no response and still no pick up. I called Tiara on 11/19 and she said she was busy and had not checked her email. She was quite apathetic and suggested I cancel. I did, but had to argue for a refund since I am paid up until January. It will take them 2 to 3 weeks to pick up their huge green cans from my lawn. Stay away from this company!
I debated whether or not to give this company 4 or 5 stars because of their EXCELLENT customer service but went with 4 stars because of the issue I was having. Two weeks in a row our recyclables were not picked up. The first time, I thought it was an oversight, and no big deal. The second time, I called the company to tell them. They were pleasant to deal with. However when they sent someone out later that day to collect our recyclables, a sticker was placed on my brand new bin saying the reason the recyclables werent picked up was because we set them out too late and to make sure we set our garbage out no later than 7 a.m. the day of pickup. Now I was willing to accept this being a possible oversight from the company, and both myself as well as the customer service representative were in no way, shape or form rude to one another, but I was slightly offended that they were blaming us for their mistake. We have lived in the same house for almost 20 years and have always set our garbage out way before the requested time. If not the evening before (because of bad weather or another reason) then my husband does it before he leaves for work at 5:30 a.m. I sent the company an email telling them this and telling them they should maybe have their employees be more diligent in doing their job rather than blame us. They responded to my email, much to my surprise, very apologetic. I actually expected this to become a blame game. It wasnt. Not only did they apologize via email, I also received a call apologizing and offering to replace my bin immediately if there was any damage to it (no damage and I was able to wash that annoying green sticker off my brand new bin lol). So yes mistakes do happen and this wasnt the end of the world, but I do want to commend this company because Ive read some not too pleasant reviews, and felt they needed some kudos for a job well done.
The absolute worst trash and recycling service ive ever had. Theres times where our compost pickup didnt happen for 3 weeks, during compost pickup time. Sometimes theyll skip your street entirely but do all other streets. Theyll skip your house. Getting signed up is one thing that should be simple but it takes atleast 2-3 weeks. We still dont have all our bins at 4 weeks and counting for our new home. Calling doesnt help because their customer service leaves you hanging for hours. Emailing them, just forget it.
We had a Rizzo garbage bin / dumpster at our construction site. When they picked it one day, our crew arrived an hour later to see all the garbage that was once in the bin dumped all over the alley, on the sidewalk, in a nearby park and light debris on the road and with the bin left sideways in the alley. We werent sure what happened. When we called we got the run around from dispatchers etc. and couldnt talk to anyone directly.After hours of calling, we were told the latch was left open and bin was overfilled in certain spots. Now we knew the bin was over-filled in certain spots but made sure it remained latched. We would have expected a call if the driver felt it was not safe to pull away. Neighbors said the driver tried to dump the load in several spots before getting frustrated and drove away. To this day, we have no idea why the driver would do that and make a mess of the area and just leave without any notice or even a phone call. As a result, we will never use their service again. It is too bad because we had 5 bins from them before. However after having to hire 3 people to pick up 30 yards worth of construction debris scattered around over 2 days, it isnt worth not knowing the company is reliable or professional enough to deal with going forward.
GFL is the worst. Three weeks now they have failed to show and pick up yard waste. They didnt hesitate to take my $80 service charge to pick up the yard waste but four times now I have been told that they would pick up tomorrow and four times I have had to haul everything back from the curb. The last time I called and talked to a rep she told me their crews were very busy working 14 hour days. Just give me my money back!UPDATE! I have continued to GFL Customer Service and have been promised repeatedly that the pickup would happen but nothing. The driver came into my sub and immediately turned around and left...I am suspecting because the driver knew that he has GPS reporting on his truck. Either way, I have since been told that the service charge is non-refundable and that I should have seen that on the flyer. Problem is that I was sold the service from a customer service rep over the phone and they definitely didnt communicate that. Seems like a good spam GFL has going on and other reviews repeat this pattern. Good luck dealing with this SHADY company!
So you tell me my container say I can put a maximum weight of 200lbs. I had to smell trash for a week had very super angry family and neighbors Bc they said they would not take my can bc it was over 50lbs. They have lazy workers the company is terrible do not use them!
You pay for their service whether they pick up or not. During the mandated shutdown I continued to go to my office and clean out things. They failed to pick up two weeks between March and May 2020. Yet, they refused to credit me for the two weeks they did not pick up my trash. To add insult to injury, they kept me on hold for almost an hour when I called for a credit for the weeks they failed to pick up. Look for another company.
A literal trash company. No one answers the phones and they miss pick ups. (Trash is set out the night before). And then today someone else’s trash falls out of the truck and they just left it and ran it over. I had to go pick it up before it blew everywhere. If they ever answer I’ll be canceling service.
If I had my choice on garbage removal companies this would not be one of them. I was a happy customer until the last two months when they stopped picking up my garbage. First time they came and picked it up and left me a note telling me to write WASTE on my trash can. so I did. They next week they did not pick it up. Its been three weeks and still no pickup. Try calling this company is a joke wait on hold for 45 minutes have someone answer and transfer me to an answering service who cant help. I have called eight times..... CALL ME BACK OR COME GET MY TRASH!!!! I called my township offices and made a complaint.
They seem to forget my yard waste more frequently. When I put in a request for pickup, the route supervisor always has the excuse of the yard waste not being put out on time. I always put it out after 6pm the night before per the city guidelines. Literally watched the trucks drive by my house multiple times.
Worst garage company we have ever had!!! Constantly missing our garbage on pick up day and also yard waste. We call them to let them know that they missed it multiple times and they always say we will send a truck out. Then they never show up. We called back and said can you please narrow it down to a day to come back to pick it up and we were told sorry but I can’t. We are really busy right now. Seriously, now I have no containers for my yard waste. You always send us out the bill on time though.GFL hear me loud and clear you are the WORST!! Terrible service, and customer service obviously means nothing to you. Tired of all your excuses and not picking up by garbage because yours guys miss it or are “too busy.”
Our driver is terrible and very unaccommodating. Once again our trash has not been picked up. We call and call and get no results. If the driver comes when there is another delivery he just drives away. The supervisor doesnt help either she sticks up for the driver not the customer and nothing gets resolved. Pick up was Monday now its Wednesday and the trash is overflowing. I was suppose to get a sales person to call but now I find out the supervisor is the sales person. This is very frustrating and now I may be ticketed for the trash because the city inspector is here complaining along with the neighbors.
I am very disappointed with the quality of work... they only empty 1 of of the 3 cans I have. I came out side to ask they younge man working and he simple replied “ not my problem, your on your own”. I pay from them to come and pick up my trash and I have to find someone else to take care of it? Then while I’m talking to the driver of the truck he drives away. Luckily, I was able to get the truck number which was 471. Then what am paying for? Then I called the office and the lady told me if I wasn’t happy with the service then try a new company. I can completely understand they have a lot of other people’s house to pick up but for me to call and then to hung up on after i ask why my trash has not been taken care of? I don’t want to find a new company. I just want my trash to be pick up? Is that really to much to ask from a from a garbage company?
December 2019, trash pick up on fridays, missed last 3 weeks. Had to call each time, so it sat out all weekend. Christmas pick up delayed till Sat Dec 28, I called to make sure it would be picked up as my son was getting married that day. Office gals assure it would be, sent email to route manager, Monday Dec 30th, trash for all of street still there. Call office again at 4pm, said they would get it.530pm, trash still there. I will be calling city offices as the next step as well as finding g another company
Disappointed in Detroit service.Its been 6 months and so far...so bad!I manage a small home owners Co-op in Detroit. After waiting 9 weeks for our bins (18 all together) I called and complained and then all of a sudden they showed up, unannounced. They dropped them off without notifying anyone in our building. Just showed up.For 3 months I was told the recycling program for Detroit was delayed for no reason.They have totally missed trash pickup about 20% of the timer and an abysmal 60% of the time for recycling. When they do pick up the trash or recycling they spill garbage all over our street and never pick any of it up. Our cans are always knocked over and lying in the street. Rizzo is awful in Detroit. I see the areas they serve in the suburbs and it is not like that at all. I have family in the burbs that use Rizzo and their street always looks nice and orderly when they come. I wish we got treated the same. I think that they believe because I live in Detroit I deserve a different standard of service.Ive called numerous times just as Im about to do to complain about missed pick ups and trash spillage. Nothing gets done about it.I will be lobbying my city council to not renew its contracts with Rizzo if I dont see anything done about this.

Just received an email regarding the changing of the website, and asking me to merge my current account. It is a mess. I have no account number, because I discontinued service for a month, then reinstated it. I did it over the phone, and was not given a new account ##. 🤬🤬🤬You sent Today at 2:37 PMFurthermore, when I tried to merge using my old account number and username, it said it was invalid. How am I supposed to pay my bill, etc????Aa
I had more trash than would fit in the provided bin so I set out my 36 gallon container next to it. They grabbed the can with the arm and of course the whole can fell into the truck. Rather than stop and fish it out the driver just kept going. Due to Covid I was home and watched him do it.I have tried contacting them several times to get my trash can replaced. Twice they said a manager would call me back but I have not heard back from anyone. I even tried contacting them online and still no resolution.Ive had other issues with GFL since they took over the route from WM such as flinging boxes from the recycling bin into my yard and not stopping to pick them up.
Complete garbage. Today would have been the third time since spring that I had to carry my yard waste bags back up my driveway because this company cant be bothered to pick them up, but Im not doing it. They can sit there until next week when Ill add six more bags. From this point on Im taking pictures evey week for documentation and Ill be calling the Township everyday until the bags are picked up. I have 6 bags out that they didnt take. My neighbor had two bags out that they didnt take. Another house up the street has two bags out that werent taken. But they picked up everyone else on both sides of the street? Seriously? WTF?
I am a roofing contractor in the Genesee County area. I’ve had 2 jobs this year in Bloomfield Hills area and my regular dumpster company doesn’t travel that far. By the way their rates are 5yd=225$ // 10yd=275$ // 15yd=325$ // 20yd=375$ and you are allowed to fill them to the top as long as no concrete, paints, tires. GFL however , when you call to order a dumpster there... you tell them you need a 20yd dumpster for roofing and they tell you it’s 340$. Not once do they ever mention that if you go over 5tons that you will be charged additional 35$ per ton. And they automatically take it off the card they have on file from current rental without any type of notice.I seriously don’t mind paying more, everything cost more south, but to me that’s dishonest, misleading and sneaky .BTW a 20yd can hold over 10 tons.
The worst. In the year-and-a-half that Ive lived here, they have missed my garbage four times and refused to come back and get it. Theyve also missed my recycling twice. They always give the same excuse... That theyre understaffed. If I could switch companies, I would. Unfortunately, this is the company that the community I live in uses. What a great gig for them, huh? They get paid to do something and they dont really have to do it. If you have a choice, do not use this company.
Most incompetent company EVER!We were originally customers of Duncan Disposal when GFL bought them and took over their routes in 2016. From the moment GFL took over we had problems.The first week, they didnt pick up our trash and I gave them the benefit of the doubt thinking theyre new and just need some adjustment time but I called them and let them know that they missed my trash (along with our entire street). They told me that theyd be by to pick it up the very next day and apologized. The next day, still no trash pick up. I waited for the following week. Guess what? Again, no trash pick up. I called them again. Again, they told me theyd be by either by that evening or the next day. Never happened. This same routine went on for a MONTH. Finally, with a months trash piled high and my frustration level at the breaking point, I canceled with them and moved to another trash service.All this time, I had been speaking to my neighbors who had been complaining, as well. No one could get GFL to our street no matter how many phone calls we made. We all switched to another company and that company delivered a new trash receptacle. Now, all I had to have GFL do was to pick up our old bin that was still Duncans (they had told me just to use the bin we had when they took over). Each time I called, they told me that theyd be out to pick it up within a week. Three weeks of them not picking up, I called again and then was told that I can keep it, they werent coming to get it. I explained that I didnt want it and that I had a new company and a new trash receptacle. They told me I could just throw it out. I ended up listing it on a selling site for free and gave it away. It was in perfect condition. So, I was finally free of GFL, or so I thought.We had canceled GFL late in 2016. It is now 2018. I just received a collections notice from GFL stating that I owed $40.50. I actually laughed out loud when I read it. I called GFL and explained that I had received this collections notice and would like to have them look into it. I never said anything more than that, didnt even get into how unhappy I was with their non-service or the fact that I had never received a bill in the first place so I should never have been sent to collections. The rep on the phone looked into it and said she could see that my account was closed in 2016 but that this bill was for January of 2017. ??? She immediately said that it was obviously a mistake and cleared my account of the charges.In the amount of time I have wasted on the phone with this company, I could have taken all of my trash to the dump myself. GFL, you are the lowest of the low, the worst of the worst. Simply incompetent. Im so glad to say I am NOT your customer. If I could give you negative stars, I would.
This has been the worst company to deal with. Ever since we signed up for service in August, I have had to call EVERY week, because they did not pick up the trash or recycling. The last straw was when they charged me $125 to pick up a dumpster because it was snowing that day “and could not get to the dumpster”. The dumpster was 30 ft from the road in my driveway...if he could drive down the road, he could back up 30ft to get to the dumpster. They also ripped down a large tree limb and said nothing to us about it. I have canceled service. I would not recommend this company to anyone.
Up until this past Monday the service was great and no problems. When I came home on Monday I noticed that Mr recycle bin was not emptied. I checked my neighbors bins and found that theirs was emptied. I found that the whole block was picked up, but not mine. I called on Monday around 4:10 and was assured that they would come out. I waited till 7 pm. On Tuesday I spoke to a manager who assured me it would be picked up after 4:00 pm. It wasn’t. I called before the office was closed and was instructed to leave the bin out over night and they would get it during the day on Wednesday. When I got home today it still wasn’t empty. I called again and was given no answer. I could understand if the whole block wasn’t picked up, but mine was the only one.
Tuesday is my pickup day.They only emptied half of my recycling bin so, I called the company Tuesday afternoon, they said they will have someone out by Wednesday morning. They were a no show again. I called again Wednesday, I was told they have 24 hours. Thursday comes still no show.I call, yet again, and am told I am high priority. It is now you 6pm Thursday evening and still no recycle truck has arrived!Oh, how I love Allied Waste
Trash pickup has been good but ordered a recycling bin and its not here after almost 2 weeks. Tried to call 4 times but was on hold for over 15 minutes each time. Emailed them a week ago and still no response. If it werent for Sterling Heights contracting them instead of the last good company we had, I wouldnt use Rizzo/GFL at all.
Worker came and put a green tag on a bag of grass without even looking at said bag. Worker even drove by my home a second time and blew past my house as I was standing there trying to tell him it was grass. Since our service was changed we have had more and more yard waste left behind.
Their residential services are completely lousy. You call them and they always say that they are currently having a high volume of calls and your call will never get through. They often miss the trash and yard waste pick ups and when you try to call them you wont get through. What a lousy service. Once I called the Macomb township office and left a complaint against them but i dont think it worked either. Today is June 5, 2019 and their service day. But they left the trash and yard waste outside although they picked the same across the street but left it for several houses on my side of the street. I am going to meet the township office clerk in-person and lodge a complaint. It is the township responsibility who awarded them the contract. Im sure they already know about their lousy service
GFL stole my money.When I signed up online for GFLs curbside recycling service, I was required to make a $57 payment up front before service could begin. After making the payment, I didnt receive a receipt. A week later, they sent me an invoice showing that I owed them money and didnt make a payment.My bank confirmed that GFL processed my payment. So, I called GFLs residential customer service line and was told that they cant find my payment. Six weeks and a dozen phone call later, they still cant find it. This is infuriating, because they had no problem taking my money yet they have no record of it.Ill have to pay the invoice they threw at me so it doesnt affect my credit report. I have to clean up the mess they made.If you decide to sign up for GFLs curbside recycling program, consider yourself warned. They might steal from you.
They recently merged with Duncan disposal. This has been the worst customer service experience I have ever been through. I ordered a dumpster through Duncan. Due to the merger, she delayed the delivery for over a week, then set it up for Friday. No dumpster on Friday, so I called to find out there was a problem with their truck. Delivery will be Monday. Called Monday when no dumpster was delivered again. Was assured it was given to a mgr and I would have it asap (that day or Tuesday) no dumpster Tuesday and still no one can give me an answer. All the time you sit on hold for at least 15 min. Do not recommend
Many complaints in our sub about missed pick ups etc. I never had a problem until the past couple weeks. last week they skipped my yard waste. I just let it go. This week they skipped it again so now Ive got 2 weeks sitting out there. Trying to get a person on the phone is a joke. I sat for 20 minutes listening to their automated message about how great they are. No one ever answered so I hung up. I Sent them a message on line 3 days ago. no reply. this company is awful.
Awful company! Missed my trash for the last 4 weeks.... every time I called there they say theyre going to reach out to the supervisor and hes never available this may be the worst company on planet Earth we have 30 bags of trash at the end of our driveway and now the homeowners association is trying to take action against us. Absolutely unbelievable even the people that work in the office speak some ghetto slang and you cant understand them and are impossible to work with. Obviously they never respond to these comments or they would change something!
Id give them a 0 if I could. Im done calling and waiting on hold forever because they are not picking up my trash. I only have them because of all the company sales.... Superior to Duncan, Duncan to Rizzo, Rizzo to GFL. Its ridiculous! Im lining up a different company today and calling to cancel this service. The recycle truck comes, but the trash pick up truck doesnt. Im just not getting it.... I see that this seems to be common complaint.
15 times in 1 year our trash has been “missed”. Not just our trash but our neighbors trash too. We call, we complain, we get a nice apology. Never has anyone called to tell us if the pick up will be late (this time it’s been 2 weeks- see photo) or why. Never has anyone followed up or reassured us that it won’t happen again. If you can’t get it right after 1 year then you lose customers, simple as that.
Would give O stars. This company is horrible. There is no accountability and integrity. They constantly missed picking up my trash and upon having to call countless times wanted to act as though it was my fault. My trash was out the night before the 7 am deadline. Not only that Ive just learned we have to pay for garbage pickup and it is not already part of the taxes. The trash pick up in Detroit is even way better than the suburbs where people are paying an arm and leg to live. Wish I could switch to Waste Management services.
Won’t answer the phones, won’t process service tickets, won’t pick up regular trash, won’t be getting my business much longer. They are unfriendly and don’t care that they missed 8 pickups this year. Tried to at least get a credit for the missed pickups but they don’t want to hear it. Yes, my trash is put out the night before, I place them 2” from the road (private road) and give them plenty of room to just grab the trash can and dump it. But we constantly have ‘no shows’.
I put out yard waste, recyclables and my trash on Thursday night. Got home from work Friday evening and saw that my trash was not emptied. I called Friday evening and waited on line for 30 minutes, spoke to someone and was advised that they probably would not make it back to pick-up until Monday. I got home Monday evening, still not picked up so I called again and was advised that probably Tuesday. I got home Tuesday evening and trash still not picked up so I called a third time. While I waited the supervisor was called and claimed that my trash was put out late Friday and this is why it was not picked up. I kindly advised GFL that that was not true. Well see if they pick-up Wednesday.
Like many others..Im a new GFL customer...only had them a few weeks and theyre already NOT picking up my garbage on time. If anyone in Oakland County, MI finds a reliable Garbage/Recycling pickup company could they please post the info under these reviews? That would be amazing.
If I could give 0 stars, I would. Have gone 6 weeks now with either a missed trash or recycling. Has missed recycling 10+ times within the last 4 months. Super annoying picking up trash the morning after they missed. Then I call and and on hold for 20 minutes at least. Then they say they are sending someone out that day, but it doesn’t happen. Worst trash company I’ve dealt with.
Today marks the 7th week in a row that GFL has missed our trash pick up. Every week I have to call and request that a truck is sent! Like others have said, the hold to talk to customer service is at least 30 minutes while listening to the ridiculous recording of how great their customer service is. Worst service weve ever experienced in any industry!
In February GFL got their garbage truck stuck on the corner of our lot due to the driver taking the corner to tightly and not being able to see where the road ended due to snow. The damaged area includes a city storm drain and a 8ft x 20ft area that is fully of cavities (some several feet deep) due to the driver trying to gun the motor to get the truck out. It is now the beginning of July and the problem has still not been resolved after more than 20 phone calls, extensive email chains, promises from GFL that they would be out to fix the problem on specific days and a letter from our attorney. Unfortunate that I now have to take the company to court over a simple error on their part and what could be easily resolved. Terrible customer service. Will be working with my city representatives to hopefully prevent them from getting another contract with our city!
I have to call and tell them that they did not pick up my garbage again. Sometimes they do one side of the street but not the other, or they do some houses but not all of them. I pay my bill so I expect to get my trash/recycling/and compost picked up on my scheduled day, is that too much to ask?
Terrible company delivered the wrong size dumpster full of stink garbage on a Saturday called 3 times waited a total of 97 min they. still have not removed the dumpster its been a month and then they charged my credit card . contacted waste management they delivered the correct size dumpster without. any garbage in the day after I ordered it may be more expensive but absolutely worth it
WANT A FREE DUMPSTER with no trash pick up this is the company to go with. Ive been trying to get GFL to remove a dumpster from a non paying customer. Their response was sorry they cant remove it because Im not on the contract. Dummies the person on the contract is the same person thats NOT PAYING YOU!!! But still using your dumpster and now the rodents are in full force. As a neighbor to this establishment I partially blame you. Why not pick up the trash you are allowing the dumpster to remain there?
Trash wasnt picked up on service day. Ive called FOUR days in a row now to have this issue resolved. I was told that Doug (Route Supervisor) would bring the truck today to take care of it. I arrived home, at 6pm today, to find the garbage had still not been recovered. I will be taking this issue to City Council if it is not resolved in a timely manner.
My large container keeps ending up in my ditch !I have called and complained many times also.I always get the we will check into it response and nothing changes!So I finally said let me speak to a supervisor !Never got a call back .........Last time it happened I told them send someone to retrieve it out of my ditch, I am disabled !!Again got told we are on it......and 2 days later my neighbor retrieved it and put it next to my house.And then today ......I am in the backyard when the yard waste comes by, so I look over the fence and I see the guy pick up the container and as he is dumping it he pulls forward and deposits it right into my ditch !!( the foot of my driveway is 30 feet wide !!)So I go out and wait for him to come down the other side of the street and ask/ tell him to retrieve it.....and he tells me NO !Thats not my job.Then tells me to stop harassing him !I replied Im not harassing you Im the customer asking you to do your job correctly !He says NO !and jumps in the truck and tells me to move !I replied when you retrieve my container I will.So he then tried to intimidate me by moving the container into his view so he can no longer see me and continues yelling to get out of the way.I stood my ground and told him as soon as he retrieved the container from the ditch I would move........So he backs up , and then pulls forward towards me with the container still blocking his view !!He then jumps out and threatens to call the police on me for blocking the road....... Which I replied DO IT ! (I have video of it all !)I must have called his bluff be cause he spent a bunch of time backing that big truck all the way down my street to leave the sub on a different street !Back to the phone I went.......So after about 15-20 min on hold I told the person that answered I need to speak to a supervisor.They connected me to Linda, the manager of the call center,She was very polite and sympathetic to my problem and assured me that a supervisor would be contacting me soon.About 1/2 an hour later a supervisor pulled up and retrieved my container from the ditch for me said he would talk to the driver.He was also very polite and understanding !!I asked if he had a card to contact him directly since he is the supervisor for the area, but was told it has to go thru the call center......So keep on holding folks it will pay off eventually !
For 5 weeks now either trash and/or yard waste has not been picked up in St. Clair Shores on the regularly scheduled day of the week which is Wednesday ( Memorial Day-Thursday that week). Not just my street...multiple streets. Does no good to call...still just sits out there. And yes it is all out the night b4...for everyone! This service is the worst we have ever experienced. We have lived in Harper Woods, Macon, GA, Shelby Township and now St. Clair Shores..never had problems like this! In fact, never had a problem at all with other services. There should be a refund...we pay taxes for this service which at best is poor!
All around good service for our Township. No complaints and on the rare occasion when I missed pickup, they circled back to take care of me after being notified. I don’t get all the low reviews. I guess some people just can’t be satisfied or have entitled, unrealistic expectations.
Ive lived in Shelby for 40+ years and GFL is the worst. Not only do they forget to pick up the trash but they dont show up until late in the day because they dont have enough trucks and drivers to do the job properly (and they put their profits ahead of service and safety). Last week none of the trash (recycling, yard, and trash) had been picked up by 5:30 and they didnt get it done until 7Pm. Having garbage trucks collecting trash in the dark is dangerous for the motorists on the roads, the public in the neighborhoods, and the GFL employees driving those trucks. Shelby Townships answer to all the service issue is to take good notes until 2025!
Would be real nice after a long day of work to be able to access my alley way and driveway. Your drivers were slower than snails and showed zero sense of urgency. When it was clearly visible I needed to get down the alley way. Doesn’t matter if there’s another end to the alley either. 5 minutes for 2 trash cans. Disrespectful. Not to mention every other morning driving EB 94 one of your trucks always has trash flying out the back. 0 stars.
Our little city just signed a contract with them this year and regret it ever since. the garbage day has been missed twice now, with the missed streets needing to call gfs before they will pick up on the non-garbage day for us!?!?!?! because they kept breaking the lid off my $100 can, I just put the bag out now. since they missed my street AGAIN the raccoons pulled all the trash apart all over the street which I now have to sweep up because gfrs refuses to do anything, including pick up on the regular day on any regular basis. better off to load garbage into your passenger car and drive it to the dump yourself
The actual trash service is great,.. but the customer service when you call in is almost non-existent. My bill was wrong one month. I managed to actually get through one time and they said they would have someone get back to me. Its been 4 months and no call back.I also didnt get a bill for 4 months, and when I did,.. it was only for 2 months of service. Ive been trying for weeks to get through, and no answer. Sometimes staying on hold for 20 min.So finally I just sent them a check for 4 months worth. But still,.. I need to get this cleaned up and make sure Im on track.
Two out of three recent big pick up days my 32 gallon container filled with yard waste (I was told that was perfectly acceptable, certainly was nowhere near 50 pounds, had been emptied in the past) was left unemptied. Called multiple times each occurrence ( was even mailed stickers to clearly mark it as COMPOST which I afixed to it), was assured, both times, someone would be by to empty it, left the container out FOR DAYS waiting, it was never emptied either time. VERY poor service, although very understanding customer service reps were very apologetic for the poor service.
Listen, I know they have a little bit of a rough startI was frustrated for a while there too. But I have had GFL for a year now and they have been wonderful. Their drivers are super friendly. They are reliable. And they are more affordable than any other provider in Oakland.
Awful customer service. I simply wanted to trade 2 blue recycled bins for 1 GFL green recycle bin with wheels. The answer was no unless I want to pay/add $3 a month for a rental. Really? Paying a bill in full and on time means absolutely nothing anymore. I think GFL could do better with customer service assistance.
Since September of 2020 GFL has failed to pick up 5 times, when we call we are treated horribly, they tell us to leave our garbage can out at the street until the next day just to find it hasnt been picked up. Dont waste your money and stick with one of the US based Environmental services.
Second consecutive week of no garbage pickup. Waited 30 minutes on the phone (while listening on a loop about the wonderful service they provide) to have them tell me they are behind. Asked if I can expect pickup today, was told cant guarantee that. Asked to speak to a manager, was told get pickup that day. STILL WAITING! Id give 0 stars but thats not an option! HORRIBLE COMPANY, AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE! I prepay 3 months at a time and I will demand a refund! Also I sent emails with absolutely no response whatsoever.
Rizzo CREATES illegal dumpers because of the trash they refuse to collect. Not that I would ever do it, or have ever done it. For the past month Ive waited for them to collect the bulk trash Ive placed outside of my home. With no explanation (note or otherwise), they passed my home TWICE. I have yard waste laid in neat stacks next to contractor bags full of debris from a clean-out. I had to call and be referred to a landfill that requires I pay $40 to $60 per load if I haul my own trash there. Nice way to keep Detroit beautiful Rizzo.
This place is a joke. A minimum of 30 minute wait time on the phone each time they are called. No response to email inquiries through their website. A month ago they missed our trash pickup for the entire street. Called and was promised they would pick up next day. Never did of course. Now they are not picking up bulk collection. Left me a note last week stating that patio furniture has to be disassembled and placed in plastic bags. Are you kidding me. DO YOUR JOB!!
We have been paying for services since we moved into our house about 3 months ago. We have not yet received a garbage can regardless of multiple (at least weekly) calls to the company. Additionally, they told us to put our trash out anyway, but they do not pick it up and animals tear it apart. We have resorted to putting all trash in our (very kind) neighbors’ bins. Therefore, we are paying for literally nothing. How does a garbage company not have garbage bins for their customers?!? So frustrating! Waste of money!
Took my compost in a can larger than 36 gallons before. Bought my own can, and labeled everything as compost with the appropriate sticker.They took my compost in this can before, yet they claim they cant take my clippings because the compost truck has no lift arm.... yet they took it before. I dont appreciate my tax dollars being wasted like this, and im trying to save money by not using brown paper bags. This is convenient for me as i have tendonitus in both shoulders and hauling out multiple bags is an issue for me. There is no reason why their workers cannot dump the can in the back like they did before.Additionally id like to add that they are often late, when they were Rizzo the atleast picked up my garbage, recycleables and lawn clippings well before noon. Now im lucky if everything is picked up by 4, if any picked up at all.This is not a quality service at all, their call center takes half an hr any time I have to call them. Customer service people are atleast polite, however i wish their services were more timely and reliable... many ppl are having issues and we didnt at first and now i see why ppl are not liking GFL in the slightest. I feel like all the good reviews are botted or done by the company to protect their reputation as it looks like most reviews are below 2 stars yet almost half are 5 stars. This is dishonest and im not satisfied that this company is wasting my tax dollars for such a lazy service.
I do not ever suggest you use this company for anything, since they took over duncan as i was a former duncan customer i have had nothing but trouble, i have noticed there is more trash on our streets from picking up any trash. i personally have a dumpster for my compost and trash, i pay to get it picked up weekly and they cant seem to do that, they missed a week and then were 3 days late the second week after 3 calls to the company. i spoke with 2 people one the day after it should have gotten picked up assuring me it would be picked up that day and she would credit my account and schedule an extra pick up as i complained about having a weeks worth of trash around my house, when i got home it wasnt picked up. so i called the next day which was 2 days past my pick up day and they again assured me that it would be picked up and i told them i was assured that yesterday and how was i suppose to know it was going to get done since they missed last week and couldnt seem to make it out for the current week and the representative i talked to said not to worry, well came home from work well after they closed and it was still full and overflowed, so called again and left message with the answering service they said someone would call me that they company opened at 8 am. never got a call but at 8 am there was someone here to empty my dumpster, only problem with that was everything froze to the inside from sitting there for a week and a half. so i called on my lunch break at work to see what they were going to do about that issue since i have a large amount of trash sitting around and paying for a service i am not receiving since i cant use my dumpster and the representative told me to put salt on it and they would be out monday and when i explained it was still totally full and i didnt think putting salt on it would do anything i was told well thats all they could do for me. so would not ever suggest this company and if i could give my review no stars i would, would much rather have duncan back, on the search for a new trash company because this ones customer service sucks along with there service.
Had Republic Services until GFL took over Rizzo and then Rochester Hills decided to switch. Two weeks in a row now, they have seemed to have an issue figuring out that the big can with the words recycling and a big recycle symbol on it needed to be picked up as well. No customer support after 5pm (when I am out of work) and they are conveniently closed on the weekends. I am not happy with their customer service, or their waste management services in general. AVOID!
This company is absolutely terrible. I have a surveillance system, I watched a gfl employee take two boxes and leaves our two trash cans behind. It appeared the employee really didnt care to dispose the rest of the garbage. Our garbage day is Monday I placed the garbage outside Sunday night for the Monday pick up. Monday rolls around two boxes are missing and the other two cans are still there. I called gfl Monday afternoon to let them know half our garbage was picked up but they missed the rest. The employee over the phone told me there would be someone there to pick it up later that night. Needless to say still there Tuesday afternoon I called again, to report that the garbage still has not been picked up, again the employee told me she is talking with the area supervisor to get this issue resolved and the garbage will in fact be picked up Tuesday afternoon. Now it is Thursday I called gfl at 8:00 am and asked to speak to a supervisor she told me she is getting in contact with the area supervisor while Im on the phone to resolve this issue again.I couldnt believe it she gave me the same answer somebody will be here later in the day on Thursday. Thursday at 7:00 pm guess what the trash is still in front of my house. This company is absolutely terrible. Terrible customer service terrible management and terrible employee. I hope they will lose this contract so we can get a more reliable company.
Have never had a problem with trash removal in 25+ years until GFL came along. Ordered (and was charged for) a recycling bin that never came and constantly have to deal with issues like yard waste not being picked up. Crews are extremely lazy and throw the empty cans on your lawn instead of returning them to the end of the driveway. They also leave trash in the street. Really wish the city would switch back to Waste Management.
Forgot about our street 2x in a month during the holidays. We still havent had any garbage picked up since after Christmas pickup day being Wednesday they never made up the delay. Bringing in the New Year with garbage on my curb. Thats the only job you have. How can you forget?? Lazy
We had Duncan - which Rizzo bought, then found out Rizzo was bought. Service days changed without notice and now recycling pickup is not spotty at best. Have had to call the office FIVE times now in just a few months due to pickup problems. Currently hold right now again - 15 people in front of me. What does that tell you?
Absolutely the WORST customer service I’ve ever experienced! I called to cancel my service for inconsistency and bill changes without notification, and was literally hung up on. Totally ridiculous and unacceptable! Thank you Kathleen for solidifying my decision to leave. If only I could’ve kept her on the phone long enough to find out what to do with their bins...
Worst customer service ever! Wanted to pay my invoice. On Hold 20 minutes was then transferred to their answering service who took my name and number. I have not heard back in over 24 hours. Tried calling again today and I was sent to a voice mail machine for Rizzo Services. Machine said mail box full and to call back later. Tried to pay invoice online but it would not process my credit card, try again or use another card. Ive tied it twice and same response. Still havent been able to pay my invoice. Just tried calling again and got same voice mail message, box is full call back again. I wish I could use another trash company, but our city has us locked in. What a scam. Ill now call our city and tell them my feelings. Maybe if enough people complain theyll pressure GFL to hire more reps or fix their customer service.
I have lived in the same house for 15 years and have never had a problem with my garbage service, until the city decided it would save $ money using these clowns!! HORRIBLE Customer service!! Trash pick up is a joke. I watched as they took all my neighbors giant unbroken down boxes away and left mine out at the curbed even though they were all broken down as their policy states they need to be !! WTH!!??!!...Garbage collectors ALWAYS knock over trash cans and leave them in the road. No courtesy whatsoever...just lazy fools!!! I will be contacting my local city officials to file a formal complaint against GFL😡
ZERO stars, but I could not choose that. GFL trash collectors just simply decided to stop picking up my trash last week. Last week they would not pick up my yard waster (which was put in the same bags I always used). Multiple calls to corporate led to promises they would pick it up - NEVER DID! I had to get rid of the yard waste to the dump myself! Now this week GFL people decide to NOT take my regular trash what the heck is going on??!! Nobody in my home has ever even seen or spoken to these GFL people but it seems they have some vendetta against us. All our neighbors are having their trash (regular and yard waste picked up) but we are not. Horrible company -- guess I need to find a way to cancel service as their headquarters obviously does not care
Terrible! Came to pick up my trash today..instead of picking it up they knocked the cans over and spread the trash all over my lawn. Called customer service and they sent the truck back out, the guy looked at it and drove away. After I picked up all the cans and loose garbage I called again and was told the truck would be back out to pick it up. No one came. Called again.. customer service said they would send someone back out. 4:00 p.m. trash is still there and customer service lady was rude and said no one is coming back. They’re fired. How stupid do you have to be to pick up garbage!
GFL is by far the worst managed garbage company I have ever experienced. My residents never get their garage picked up. We have to call weekly to complain and nothing changes. I reached out to customer service and it took a month to hear back. I would highly recommend seeking another company for your waste management needs.
You have one JOB! After months of mixed pickups I am finally switching. I have my trash out the night before and they miss it every single time. The recycling is picked up regularly but not the trash. I have called to politely complain many times and I am always assured that they will take care of it, but they never do. This all started when GFL took over for Rizzo.
Super disappointed in the service for this company. The service guys who pick up my trash broke a second can on July 1st, I waited on the phone for 20 minutes and finally gave up and put in a request online. I was given a ticket number and was told someone would follow up. Well here it is July 15th and no follow up. So I called again today and waited another 20 minutes until someone answered. They said they would manually put in a for someone to call me and after I pressed for when, they said within 24 hours. Apparently the online system is broken and has been since July 1st or before but no one has thought to update the message to let customers know nothing will happen if you leave a message. So now I wait....and use a can with broken wheels and cracked body until someone gets back to me. And the service guys who I chased down today said they can’t do anything but call the office 😂😳😖
I thought I needed only a small dumpster for a home remodeling job. The lady on the phone meticulously went over my job with me by asking the size of the rooms, etc., and she recommended a twenty yard dumpster. I’m pretty glad she did, because by the time my renovation work was done that dumpster was completely jammed to the brim. This dumpster company knows its business and I highly valued them and their assistance. they made everything so easy.
Most disappointing garbage company has missed our pick up day at minimum TWICE a month. Everytime we call to ask why our garbage isnt being picked up and they skip us so many times they say they will send someone out next week. Having my brothers funeral this weekend explain to them I need it picked up today , still they say next week. Unbelievable. Do not recommend this company at all, very unfortunate😡
Have had pick up issues for the last 3-4 weeks. Have to keep calling to ask when they are going to pick up. Today I was told that they could not guarantee that there would be pick up on exactly the same day each and every week. If I wanted timely pick ups, I would have to look for another company. As a business owner, this is very POOR customer service. We have two business locations and we will now be contacting other companies for both locations. Not a very good way to keep business customers when word of mouth travels very quickly.
This is the absolute worst dumpster company Ive every delt with while remodeling homes for the last 25 years. Go with someone whos actually motivated to do dumpster business. I ordered from these guys because they pick up from my home, huge mistake. Average call time is over 10 minutes to get someone to answer. To ask the question of wheres my dumpster? took over 29 minutes to ask and 35 minutes to get answered. These people are looking for any reason to charge you extra. Waste of time, over priced, long wait times due to understaffing(one person in call center). Their business model follows their busiess..... GARBAGE!
ANOTHER FAILED TRASH PICKUP - 2ND TIME IN THE LAST 2 MONTHS.Just went out to check my bins and see that my yard waste wasnt picked up again! I put it out last night night for todays Mondays pickup, but apparently thats not enough notice for GFL.Im just going to leave the bin out by the street so my neighbors can complain for the entire week until next Mondays pickup.Dont both emailing or calling this company.....its as if they dont exist.
Used to be a customer of Waste Management.My township switched to Rizzo. Better pricing. Better service.They always show up on time, and pick up the pick heavy stuff without a special appointment.The cans are always placed neatly at the end of the driveway, and not dropped carelessly wherever they land. I also used Rizzo when I remodeled my rental properties. Great service. Great company.
I was forced into using these guys when Republic handed off trash pick-up in my area. Terrible service, 5 calls, an im chat and a help ticket on their website. No call back, lots of promises, none kept. I am not sure if they are inept or just terrible business people. Someone will appreciate my business. I hope they enjoy the money they cheated me out of. I would not recommend this company. I have made multiple calls to complain that my recycle dumpster had not been picked up despite only having their “service “ a few months. I was told to leave it out front and that’s where it sat until the next week pickup. Maybe I pay 1/2 my recycle bill since they only pick it up 1/2 of the time.
I had 3 pieces furniture for sale (with a for sale sign clearly on them) in my driveway, at least 20 feet away from my trash which was on the lawn. The garbage men showed up and, by the time I noticed, they were putting the 3rd piece of furniture in the truck. I ran out and told them that it was for sale, not garbage. They asked me if I wanted them to pull it back out. At this point it was full of maggot juice, so I told them to continue. I called Rizzo and they said that since they offered to take it out of the truck before it was crushed that I was to blame because they could have cleaned it off. Who would want to buy it after that?? The furniture pieces were made of wood. The company was very rude and insisted that I was to blame. They didnt even offer a reimbursment. I wish I could change trash services.
Updated 2/8/19I was put in touch with the regional sales person (Joe K.) and he has been very responsive, along with providing very good pricing. Hes made my experience with GFL much easier. I would still avoid calling into their operators as that route is a waste of time.----I have a commercial account with the company. I have called three times over a two week period to get re-pricing. Every time I spoke to an customer service representative, which stated that they would send along to my sales rep for attention or the sales manager. Still no call back. Really disorganized company.
My trash got missed two weeks in a row, every time I called I was placed on hold for over 30 minutes. They have been telling me that I’m in route for pick up Since Tuesday but it’s Friday and my trash is still sitting at the side of my drive way. The ladies answering the phones are always real pleasant and have told me that they will file a complaint for me but nothing has been done. I’m switching to a different company today but this has been so frustrating and extremely poor customer service
I called this morning and it seems like the woman was sympathetic, but oops, slip its not my week again. For the last four weeks, its been not my week. Her defense was, ...you need to call. I told her I did, at least three times, but they keep missing my bin. Her reply ...Okay, I will make a note of it...but you are going to have to wait until next week... Five weeks of buildup. These out of town companies sure is making Detroit look bad.
I am very disappointed with this company! It seems every week, this company likes to ONLY pick either my trash bin or recycling bin and that is it. Dont get me wrong, the times I do call the company and to let them know my waste wasnt pick up they have a truck come out. BUT I do NOT appreciate the fact I get a sticker on my bin telling me to put out my bins earlier or the night before, when they were out that night or early morning.
GFL just recently picked up my group homes account. Its been 3 weeks and they still have yet to send a truck out to pick our garbage up. Weve been on the phone every day sometimes 3x a day and still nothing. Horrible service, cant get their trucks to show up to the right address, and now our neighbors are complaing of the stench. They are making us look bad to the community, completely unprofessional, and risking the health and safety of our residents living here. If I could no star them I would. Hoping my company will find another garbage company to go through. Do not recommend to my worst enemy.
We have not had our recycling picked up since before Christmas and its now the middle of January. Ive lost track of how many times Ive called to try and resolve this. Ive even spoken with a manager. Nothing is getting done about it. Ive talked to friends in the area who are having the same experience with their garbage as well as recycling so obviously something is not right with this company. Also, when I call, Im always caller number 35+ waiting to speak to someone. We are going to be switching as soon as I can figure out who comes out to our area.
Calling them GFL garbage is probably a better description! The service is always missing a neighbor or leaves cans knocked down in Macomb County. Neighborhood forum is riddled with horror stories about their customer service, website and False promises.I watched a driver get out of his truck, put a sticker on a can, walk to a front door halfway around a house and knock on the door to tell them their cans were a little too far from the street for him to pickup. Think about that for a minute, the time and effort that it took for him to do that instead of simply adjust the can or even drive away. No, this guy went above and beyond to educate and teach the homeowner a lesson because he drove off without picking up the garbage. The neighbor was not home and I learned later a house sitter messed up because they were on vacation.We will be voting to replace them at our next meeting. Nothing sends a message like a firing.
Update: Their driver was just flying down our street (30-40 mph in a 25) to the neighboring business, almost hit one of my trucks pulling out of our business . then proceeded to tell me off swearing and screaming at me. After that he pulled into his next stop which is right next door, A SCHOOL, and was flying through their parking lot!!! He is going to hit someone and kill them. This company is a complete JOKE!!!they miss our dumpster pick up more than they actually pick it up. we have daily pick up and the missed both dumpsters 6 times in 3 weeks, but you know damm well my invoice will not say that.Update: Another day, two more dumpsters not emptied. DO NOT HIRE THESE PEOPLE, WORST COMPANY EVER. Wish they never bought out Rizzo.Update.... they missed our dumpsters again for three days straight. now they are overfull and they wont pick them up. If your lazy drivers continue to drop my trash cans in the ditch and fail to empty completely or dump on the ground and not get out of the truck to pick them up I will file a complaint with our city and see if we can get something done to change how things are done. As an older person I do not need to haul my trash containers out of a 3 ft ditch.
GFL picked up everyones recycle but mine. When I called everyday to have someone come out and pick it up I was told that my garbage was pickup. I kept telling them it was still in front of my place. They said the route supervisor said he went by my house and nothing was there. When I asked to speak to someone above the supervisor they told me there was no one. They basically called me a liar and I was out of luck. There advertisement for fast friendly service sucks.
If I could give no stars, I would. It had been over a month and they didnt pick up our commercial recycling dumpster. I called and emailed multiple times and now Im going to drive an hour to their office just to get some form of service and an answer. Their commercial recycling also only takes paper, cardboard, and plastic water bottles which means we dont get half our recycling picked up as is.
If you stand outside when the truck rolls by, youll have a better chance of getting a pick-up. They have missed us a few times. When you call for pick-up, be prepared to clean your garage while you wait for an answer. The inside management is nice, but I fear they have their hands full with whats outside.
I live in Detroit (until I can get out of this hell hole) and we have just switched over to rizzo. The trucks look very nice, but the service is horrible. Every single time my trash is dumped, it ends up being half in the truck and half on the street. My bin is never overloaded and I bag my yard waste into separate brown recycle type bags (placed on the curve every other week for pickup). The operator just seems to be in a rush and pulls the bin off of the truck, before its empty. Doesnt care that he left a huge mess, just continues to do it almost every other stop (trash floats around and gets in mine and my neighbors yards, hedges...etc). Another issue is their bi-weekly bulb / yard waste pickup. The first few weeks, they were good, picking up bulk and the brown yard bags as scheduled. Then 3 weeks ago, they stopped doing anything but emptying (halfway at least) the trash bins. I put my grass clippings out on the day scheduled and nothing happened. I had to pull my stinky bags of grass clippings, which had baked in the hot sun for a week back into my yard to wait for next week. Put them out again and again, never got picked up. This weeks it decided to rain cats and dogs, so the bags are now too wet to place out. Guess my trash bin will be overstuffed for the first time and smell of 3 week old grass clippings. The smell is worse than rotting flesh, I can smell it over 30 feet away. Thanks rizzo !

After calling, I was told the cut off date was December 1st and that I need to dispose of it myself. No where does it state a cut off date of December 1st. No where does it state I have to call and request that you pick up my yard waste. For a service I pay for, I should not have to deal with this.
This is the worst waste company EVER!!! We switched from Waste Management because we wanted to be able to recycle. So we called Rizzo 3 times and told them we had our own can and put RECYCLE STICKERS ON THE CAN. 3 times they did not pick up our recycle. Canceled recycling and now they are not picking up our trash. OMG they are soooo stupid. Calling to cancel trash tomorrow. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THESE MORONS. We live in the Pinckney area. They will not even credit your account for missed pick ups.
Twice in the past year they did not pick up our trash, They picked up every other bin in the subdivision. We did NOT HAVE extra trash sitting out. When I called in to ask them if they could kindly pick it up the following day I was basically laughed at. Horrible service, wish we had other options.
I just wanted to share that I watched Rizzo pick up a large amount of trash from my neighbors house. I dont know if they broke something or if there were broken pieces on the driveway, but theses two gentlemen got out a rake and not only once, but twice went back and forth to make sure all pieces were picked up from their driveway. They provided great service and I was really impressed by the care that they took.
The driver of truck #588 in Royal Oak Friday 10/11at 9:38am thought it would be funny to drive down the middle of a residential street so no cars could pass him as he moved at a glacial pace. I tried calling your local office however my local call was merged into a 1-888 number so this tells me you have A LOT of complaints and don’t want to deal with them.Sad I will be at my next City council meeting and will urge them to put our contract out for bid.
Just moved to Michigan, trying to set up service. Called once, on hold 30 minutes, hung up. Called again, on hold 30 minutes, left message. Called again several days later, on hold 22 minutes. They answered and said someone would call back. Waited 3 more days, on hold for over an hour. Hung up at 5 p.m.
Our garbage service is paid for by the city and the day of pick of (Monday) all my neighbors except for one other had their trash picked up. Now it is wed 6:30 pm still sitting at the end of my driveway! Called by 7:30 am yesterday and today and still nothing! No problems before gfl took over the service.
The office of the place is awful they tell you different dates on when to pick up yard waste and they almost never pick up that day. The guys who the do job are always polite but the office has made us take out the yard waste three seperate times and not picked it up until the fourth time we take it out. Until this unorganized mess in their office is cleaned up this rating is going to stay a 1-star
Our yard waste has not been picked up even after the 2nd call to the company. There is a definite disconnect between the people taking my calls and the managers and drivers. Im hoping 3rd time is a charm. I have put in my 3rd call and have been told the waste will be picked up tomorrow.
Taylor resident, I have had (2) city issued recycle bins (50 gal with hinge lids) since 2013. Both numerically assigned to my home address. The 2nd I had to drive up and request at the city myself. I believe it is possible 1 of these drivers decided he wasnt going to be emptying 2 recycle bins at my address anymore, dumped the whole thing into his truck and moved on. I called this company to request my Recycle bins return. A woman answered the phone and took down my information. She informed me to call back after the weekend and she would know something. I call back today (wednesday) and my call was again answered by the same woman, asked my address and then she said yeah, the driver said he didnt take it. The Funny part is I have 1080p HD nightvision Video surveillance equipment equipmentwith a pretty big Hard Drive...and guess what!? My cameras captured the cans being there before the driver came to empty them. In the next footage (motion activated video) there is a rizzo truck driving past and my 2nd recycle bin just MYSTERIOUSLY disappeared right as he was driving to my neighbors house right? Its ok, This is just supporting documentation for any future action necessary to obtain that which is rightfully assigned to this address. I am certain that #RizzoEnvironmentalServices will not be attempting to pay the #CityofTaylor any of the $50.00 usd Fee that will now be imposed apon this lot for lack of #CityProperty rented to me in good faith. These guys get the City of Taylors Contract and have coffee breaks blocking the street 4-5 garbage trucks deep, 15-20 minutes long. And apparently throw your extra recycle bins they dont feel like doing their paid Job for away so they can continue to #milk the city clock at my Tax paying expense. I Will Not Go Quietly...And You will Own up or be met with Conclusive evidence.
I called Rizzo about renting a dumpster and they were very professional right from the start. The woman I first spoke with was very knowledgeable about the industry and was able to recommend the right size and type of dumpster I should use. They delivered it when they said they would and were just as precise about the time they would pick it up.
Every other week my trash gets skipped. Its on the curb 48hrs before pickup everytime and my trash has never exceeded weight limits ( i have cats so yes we dump about 20lbs into a bag to throw away). There is no reason it should be continuously skipped and left to overfill. I have never had so much trouble with my disposal company.
This is by far the worst company that I’ve dealt with. I have a commercial contract that is set up on auto pay at 120/mo and I have to call every week because they never empty the dumpster. I got a ticket from the city for overflowing trash after 3 weeks of no pick ups. They only emptied it after I threatened to roll the dumpster to the Main Street and block traffic. Stay away!!!
Over the past month, Rizzo drivers have failed to pickup our recyclables once, and our garbage twice, while our neighbors (on both sides) had their trash pick up. Picking up the trash on schedule is an important expectation, and Rizzo is falling way short in this category, earning two stars.
Let put it this way, the service is horrible, call the 800 number to sit for about 45 mins and then get empty promises . Then they raise there fees and add a bogus recovery fee to your charges and nobody else did.. and to add topping to the cake, they now charge to make a payment online. what a joke. Well i am firing them and going with a new service. 3 thumbs down. We dont need them . They need us. Your Fired GFL.
Company is the worst. Cant keep employees because workers are under paid & over worked. I dropped my family member off at 6 a.m. this morning, it is now damn near 10 p.m. and hes still out driving. If they didnt abuse the workers maybe the trash would get picked up. A complaint is being filed with the State...
Terrible residential service ever since Shelby Township made their switch. My trash is missed for 1-2 weeks at a time on 21 mile road. Routinely have to call the office to ask for a trash pickup. This is a waste of my time for a service thats being paid for. Hopefully Shelby Township rethinks this service provider sooner than later. This company is about as handy as pockets on the back of a shirt.
Awful company. We paid for yard waste pickup. They were supposed to pick up on 4/19. Bags were placed out on 4/18. They are still sitting curbside (4/24/2019). I have called them every single day since then, with the same excuse, we are routing it to the driver and it will get taken care of. It still has not been picked up, 6 days after the scheduled pick up date. This company is a joke.
Horrible customer service. Driver skipped us and apparently I have to baby sit the times the dumpster guy comes. What’s the point of hiring a trash company if I have to be on top of them. I co-own a second property in Michigan, and needed to have some waste removed. I am concerned about the environment and was very happy to see that Rizzo Sanitation used environmentally-friendly dumpsters.Working with them was great, and they made the process very easy to get the dumpster, make payment, and have them take it away. I would use them again!
I live in garden city at 28921 elmwood our trash pick up is done by gfl they did not pick up our trash today september 6 ive called three times for them to come back they havent i pay taxes every year for this service why did garden city contract them if they cant do there job. No wonder they have bad ratings . Never had a problem with republic or riizzo.
I think if the garbage truck dump your garbage can in the truck, we should not have to pay for another one, thats what happened in my case now I have no garbage can, which was clearly their workers fault! Ridiculous I swear now I may have to pay for one and it can take almost 1 to two weeks before I get it!!! Then you be on hold for hours, even if u call early
My whole sub uses your service so I was going to switch. After 5+ calls with waiting up to 30 minutes on hold over the last 2 weeks and filing a service request via your website on May 11th - 6 days later, no call back. If your call center/service people are this busy.....I dont know maybe do something crazy and hire some additional staff? Create a chat feature on your site? Do something....All I was looking for was a trash service....all Ive received is an earache from being on hold. I now hear GFL hold person voices in my dreams/nightmares. Rizzo Sanitation is my new Waste Hauler In Harrison Twp.,MI.I spoke with the office to get a container and they said it would be there in about 7-10 days ,it arrived in less than 5...........great service! The Employees that pick up the waste are great and return all carts in the Driveway as promised. I am very happy with the company and service.

So unprofessional and nothing ever gets resolved.. we started with republic and they were great never had a problem well gfl bought our account and had I known how absolutely horrible they were gonna be I would have put up a fight they have not picked my garbage up going on 3 weeks have made multiple calls where they keep saying oh we are so sorry it will be today or tomorrow and 3 weeks later here my garbage still sits!! You guys really need to get your stuff together havent ever been so unhappy with a company before and with the money they charge you think they would be on top of it!
One website says Yard waste is picked up until 4th Wednesday of november so I didnt put my leaves out on December 7th only to see others out. Called company and was told that I missed the truck by an hour. Looked up gfl website and it says as long as you call them that night or next morning they will send a truck. When I called I was told that is only for bulk. NOT WHAT THE WEBSITE SAYS! This on top of cans being in the middle of the street after emptying for two weeks in a row.
I had to deal with other services, and I switched to this service because the price is right, but thats what I thought. At first, they were okay. Now, they do whatever they feel like. They dont pick up my recycle bin or sometimes they dont pick up my trash bin. When I called them, they said they will take care of it, but they dont. So I kept calling for the same problem, and I had recieved the same response. And this same problem has been going on for weeks, and I wished I could just drop this service and switch to a better service. But it appears that I am stuck with them.
They always do a fantastic job on bulk trash pick-up. Our bulk garbage is picked up when it is suppose to be collected and there is never unsightly debris left on our street. There is always two guys loading up the truck, which means they are done very quickly, which I really appreciate.
There should be a MINUS sign in front of that star but this site wouldnt let me post without choosing at least one star. Weve been missed for our regular {theres a contrast in terms} pick up for three consecutive Fridays now with promises promises when we call to complain on following Mondays. This week we even called preemptively on Thursday and were assured wed not be missed again. Wrong. This has been a repeated pattern with the previous company -Duncan- and now Rizzo seems determined to follow in their poor service footsteps. The only reason I dont dump them (excuse the pun) is they owe me so much credit.

2022-07-07GFL took over Midway Disposal in Brown City on May 1, 2022. We were notified via postcard 2 weeks prior that our trash would be picked up on Friday. The first Friday ours was picked up, but not my moms and nobody on her road was picked up. I called the local office and they said they were short staffed and they would pickup the following Friday. My trash was picked up very late and my Moms was not picked up. I called again and was told because they didnt have enough drivers possibly a pickup Monday. We went to the office on Monday, May 16, 2022 and canceled service; my Moms trash was picked up that day, but she canceled too and we went with another trash service. We asked in the office about reimbursement and they sent it into corporate and to look for a reimbursement in about a month. Never received it. In mid June I called corporate about it and all they can do is send an email to the manager. I called twice and today July 7, 2022 and all they can do is email the information. This is a very poorly run company and I would not recommend them to anyone 😡😡. Rating:0.000

2022-04-19If we could give zero stars we would.We are a flooring store that contracted 2 dumpsters for twice a week pick up. If we were lucky they would come by and empty 1 dumpster once a week. At one point they told us they werent emptying our dumpsters because there was used carpet in them. They knew we were a flooring store when they initiated the contract. They even recommended the dumpster sizes we should use. When we tried to call to address the issues, we received no response.They also raised our rates mid way thru our agreed upon contract, telling us if we werent willing to pay the additional we could consider the contract terminated. We begrudgingly paid the new rates, but a few months later, when we once again called to complain about missed pick ups (leaving messages because no one would return our calls) GFL showed up unannounced and removed our dumpsters from our building. I guess our contract is terminated? No notice was given to us.Customer service is terrible-do not use GFL!

2022-05-11Tried calling many times for hours. Just get a busy signal or message that all mailboxes are full. I want to speak to someone. No email address that works to ask about pick up. Terrible customer service. I know you can do better.Changed my pick up day with no notification. Put out my trash on new pick up day and not picked up.Brown city is my local office.

2022-08-10I was sitting in front of my girlfriends clients house waiting to pick her up from work and the GFL truck came by for the trash and the guy yelled at me and said something about how something doesn’t go in there and said “don’t waste my time” and then proceeded to angrily toss a couple branches from one of the cans into the back of the truck and then didn’t take any of the trash at all. I don’t live in this neighborhood or city but from experience of picking my girlfriend up from here I know they take the trash every week no problem so I don’t know why he didn’t take the trash this time. Also, I followed them to get their plate number and truck number and while I was doing that I saw the same guy slam someone else’s trash can on the ground.

2022-07-18New Haven area, poor service. They drove by and literatley said they couldnt get down our street when they could clearly get down it. Missed many days/weekends of garbage pick up due to short staffed This is a large enough company to pay their employees well. There is no reason why my garbage needs to go the weekend without getting picked up. My service day is Friday. I have only lived here since April 2022. I. This short time frame, we have called twice separate occasions on getting our garbage picked up. There has been other times we waiting for 5 days! So its unnecessary! If I could change this company I would.

2022-06-14GFL charged us for a garbage can over 2 months ago. We still have not received our garbage can and getting in touch with anyone from GFL is impossible. I have left multiple voicemails and have never received one call back. The service is horrible! I wish our city would contract any other company!

2022-05-28Such a horrible so called service. For 4 years they either skip a bin or bins. If they dont do their job I should be able to get a refund since I pay for nothing. Skipped recycle this week. 3 or 4 weeks ago they skipped the trash. Told me driver is on right side of truck and my bin was on the left side of the street so he didnt see it. Whatever they are so horrible this has been going on for four years thank God for the lady in dpw when I call her about the problem she sends someone out. ..but shouldnt have to. 2022-05-31There should be a zero star rating, because thats what I would have given them. GFL bought out Knox Disposal in Brown City MI and the service is awful. I’ve been trying to cancel and get a refund since 5-13-22, but no one answers the phone and the mailbox is full so can’t leave a message. I mailed a letter of cancellation on 5-13-22, but no response. I tried calling what shows online as the Corporate Office in Sterling Heights, but all she could say was that she was “taking the influx of calls and passing it onto the appropriate party and that someone would call”. That was on 5-20-22 and today is 5-31-22 and still no call. So I’m trying once again, on hold right now with the Sterling Heights office as I’m typing this review. A woman named Kennedy finally answered the phone and told me she would give my information to the general manager, Sam L. We will see if I get a call back or a refund. I do NOT recommend GFL.

2022-05-24The absolute worst customer service. I have never dealt with a company like this. I paid for the full year in September but received invoices the last two quarters and had to call to have it rectified. This time, I spent an hour on the phone trying to sort this out. 20 minutes before I spoke to a person, and then the next 40 of her having to go back and forth to figure out what billing did wrong, while still telling me that it wasnt their mistake, but that I should have paid more when they took the payment over the phone in September. The few dollars saved by paying in advance have been spent in time and frustration. Not even worth it.
