Wow... I have had a WAY better experience than what I am seeing posted. My husband and I have lived here for 2 1/2 years. It was meant to be a temporary stay and we ended up loving it here. We live right by the ponds and the nature trails and I take my 2 year old out on walks all the time when the weather is nice. The management has bent over backwards to make sure we are happy and they check in all the time to see how we are doing. They are really friendly.... almost annoyingly so. haha! The maintenance is INCREDIBLE. I have never seen such a quick responding maintenance staff. Anytime I file a maintenance request online they are usually able to fix it the same or next day. Once I had company over and my pilot light in my oven was out so I couldnt put the food in the oven... I called the office and they sent someone over 10 minutes later! I was really impressed! Our apartment was freshly painted with new carpet when we moved in. One of my only complaints is that we have to pay ALL of our own utilities. And, the electricity bill can get really expensive in the winter. I think the windows must be really thin and cheap because you can feel cold air near the windows. Other than that, we really like it here! We have great neighbors and it only takes my husband 15 minutes on the bus to get to U of M every day. Anyway, we have been really happy here!
Possibly the worst place in the Ann Arbor, Ypsilanti area. DO NOT rent here. I just recently moved out after a two year lease. Nothing but problems from the start. Broken AC when I first moved in. Took them 4 weeks to fix it. Never told me there was a bed bug issue before I moved in. Had bed bugs for three months. Other 3 tenants in my building had the same issue. I would strongly encourage you to ask them about their bed bug problem before renting. Talk to your future neighbors too because they will most likely lie to you. Thats another big problem with this complex. They lie straight to your face all the time. Its incredible. If you ever need to call maintenance be ready to call at least three times for the same issue. There is no communication between their main office and their maintenance department. None. Finally, make sure you check when your lease ends. Unlike every other place I have ever lived at in Ann Arbor this complex adds a few days to the end of your lease. You end up having a lease for a year and 3 to 7 extra days. So instead of having a lease from July 1 to June 30 which is a year lease they will write one from July 1 to July 6. I suspect they do this to avoid returning your full deposit. Im in the process of filing a lawsuit against them for failing to refund me after they leased out my unit. I moved out early to a condo a purchased. Before moving out I made sure all my rent was paid in full and turned in keys. They processed my deposit and a couple of weeks later another tenant Im my same building took possession of my unit. They are supposed to refund me for 9 days. Everytime I call they take a message and never get back to me. Ive tried to get a hold of the manager Charlotte Jooste but she keeps dodging my calls. Ive email them countless times. No response. Extremely rude and unprofessional attitude. Its illegal to collect double rent in the State of Michigan, they should know better. I cant imagine they are trying to keep my refund I suspect they just drop the ball somehow or they are too busy to process my reimbursement because that office is extremely understaffed all the time. The turn around on their associates is ridiculous. There has been at least 10 different people working their desks in the past two years. So in a nutshell this is the kind of shenanigans you will most likely be dealing with if you rent at Glencoe Hills. Do yourself a favor and go rent somewhere else. Not worth the hassle.
I lived in Glencoe Hills for about 4 months. Had so many maintenance issues. The doors didn’t lock too well. At the time I lived there, I was dealing with safety concerns against an ex who was really abusive so they had easy access to my apartment. Doors weren’t fixed. The door to my apartment didn’t lock properly, either. All the maintenance issues within my unit were either poorly fixed or just flat out ignored. They did send out maintenance repair reps out but their methods of repairing things were bare minimum, sometimes not even that. I had rodent issues, plumbing issues, electrical issues.... you name it, I had that problem. Glencoe Hills also did a poor job with snow removal. Everything would still be covered in ice and snow. I slipped and fell off the stairs outside one time. I could have sued but it wasn’t worth the hassle since I wasn’t badly injured. I broke my lease with them because paying over $1,000 was not worth it. Worst apartment experience I have ever had.
I will start off with the bad:Parking here is awful. People literally have to make their own parking spots because there are more tenants with vehicles than there seems to be apartments. The fact that you pay rent and also have to pay ALL utilities is not a bargain at all, and there are way too many fees that go into paying those bills. The heating S-U-C-K-SSS! My unites barely worked and for the little time that I did have it running, I was being overcharged. Make sure you test your units when you come in!The workout facility, although open 24-hours, is too small and cramped. Its almost uncomfortable to be in there and have people nearly watching everything you do.The Good:Overall, it was a great place to stay, as compared to the other places nearby. The reason I give this place a 4 is because I live here by myself, but if I had a roommate, the issues that I do have would not be as big because I would have someone here to split the cost with me. Neighbors are great and the new management does a great job of helping out and answering issues. When my car got plowed in by her crew, she came down herself and helped me get my car out.
I moved here after relocating from another state and without knowing the area. Honestly, my apartment and the grounds are nice. Ive never had issues with the office staff, when my washer broke they fixed it the same day, my AC broke and they fixed it within a week. I, however, cannot recommend this community because of the crime rate in the area. In the 9 months that I have been here two of my neighbors cars have been broken into and recently the wheels on my car were stolen and the car left on blocks (and thats just in my building cluster). Its a shame that the area makes such a nice community inhospitable. If youd like to gamble your vehicles well being for the sake of paying less for a place to stay that is your choice, but I would not recommend that you take that chance unless management invests in decent overnight security or cameras. This is a shame because I really do love my apartment.
The only problem with this complex is the staff. Yes, you have the really nice and cooperative ones. But then you have the rude one. Dealing with rude staff will definitely have my family and I moving out. We were told that the we are able to pay the rent on the third and that’s what we did. We got a late fee. My fiancé called the office and asked why we got the late fee and there were a couple of times where we have done this and there was no fee. The staff member decided to get smart with him and asked if she should pull our file and add the late fee on to the rent that was paid on the third. Very unprofessional.
Grounds are well maintained, staff changes about every four months, wonder why they cant keep people employed? supposed to be Smoke free no smoking anywhere on property, but no one enforces it, so hope you like breathing cigarette smoke, pot smoke, venting system is shared by all units in the building so whenever someone lights up, everyone breaths it. always garbage laying everywhere so skunks and other scavengers prevalent. dont bother bring complaints to staff, they couldnt care less.its pay your rent and keep quiet.
Nice place to live! I was there for two years. (NO PROBLEMS) Well respectable neighbors and the staff in the office was always presentable. Whenever there was an issue in my apartment the maintenance was on it. If I ever decide to move back to Michigan, Glencoe Hills will be a place of choice.
Updated August 2019 (Originally Written April 2017.)I moved into Glencoe August 2015 and just renewed for a 5th year. This is the first apartment I have lived in in this area so I cant really compare to other options.Location is fantastic. I can easily get to Ypsilanti, Ann Arbor and the U of M campus. Kroger, Meijer, Target, WalMart, Home Depot, Lowes, Barnes and Noble and many other stores are within a 5 minute drive, as well as virtually every major fast-food joint and several other restaurants and pizza places. The property is right on the 23/94 interchange and just a few exits down the road from M-14, so I can quickly get going to virtually anywhere.Price: I pay about 450/month for my share of a 3-bedroom apartment with two roommates, before accounting for utilities, internet, etc. Major appliances in our unit work well, carpet is pretty new, place generally looks nice.Neighbors: havent gotten to know any neighbors on a personal basis, largely due to a very busy schedule, but when I pass them in the hallway or laundry room they are very friendly. Save for the occasional barking dog, I have had no issues with them. Several times, a neighbor has gone out of their way to hold open or unlock a door when I am carrying in groceries. Its always nice to see families and kids enjoying the nice weather instead of sitting inside all day.Property: The grounds are generally in good condition and are great for walking during the summer.Snow removal: Parking lots are usually clear when in the morning after a storm, or at least clear enough that I can get my car out. Sidewalks are shoveled and salted quickly.Parking: I can usually get a spot very close to my building. Even in the worst-case scenario, my walk isnt any further than a typical walk at a grocery store parking lot.Management used to be pretty disorganized but I think they brought in some new people because it has gotten much better. Office is pretty quick to respond to questions and is great about alerting us about power outages, water shutoffs, construction, etc. The office hours are a little inconvenient - only open 10 to 6 on weekdays so I can usually only go on Saturday if I have to pick up a package.Maintenance has also really improved. We had some inconsistent fixes when we first moved in, but in the last year we have had a garbage disposal break and a fridge that needed a new motor. Disposal was fixed quickly. They had to order a new part for the fridge so it took a few more days but they were great about keeping us posted and it works great now.Front doors on buildings dont always latch. It just means you have to check behind you when entering/exiting. We keep our apartment door locked either way.Laundry machines require a lot of quarters, but theyve added an app that lets you pay through your phone and it works pretty well.In summary, its gotten quite a bit better. The best feature by far is the location, which also more than makes up for the cons. As a single person on the younger side of 30, living with others who are the same category, it more than suits my needs.Id give it a 3.5/5 stars, rounding up to 4 for Google.
I have been living here since August 2019.Pros:A. Reasonable rent for the areaB. Spacious apartment and lots for cupboard space (1bhk in my case)C. Very responsive to maintenance requestsD. Well kept communityE. Very helpful and accommodative office staffF. Community is safe, I havent had or known(from neighbors and friends) any instances of break ins or thefts.G. 5 minute drive to all stores (wholefoods, kroger) and the freeway(US23)Cons:A. In unit washer/dryer not available in any optionsI cant really think of anything else.Overall, I would recommend this apartment complex.
Id say there are two distinct experiences at this complex: the people who live in the unusually nice building by the back tennis courts that looks 20 years newer than the rest of the grounds, and everyone else. If I had to bet, Id say every review thats 4 or 5 stars has come from a tenant of that building.Ive had a distinctly medium experience living here. Ive been here almost two full years. The crime rates make me nervous, and it sounds like the management makes the same empty promises every time something serious happens. I honestly think just fixing the broken lamps outside would help quite a bit. I am a large white dude with a huge scary looking (but sweethearted) dog and I still get nervous walking him at night. Most of my other complaints are minor. It is an enourmous pain trying to get enough change to do laundry. Neighbors occasionally smoke despite the no smoking policy. The far back corner buildings and tenants seem to be treated second class compared to the nicer buildings near the leasing office. The leasing office did seem to pull the bait and switch type manouver with us when we moved in.Overall, I intend to stay because its cheap compared to other places. The hassle of having to move and taking a gamble on a new place that might be even worse is not worth it to me.
First of all, I think a lot of the negative reviews are from residents who havent ever lived in an apartment complex. No complex is perfect and you will always have issues with something. Ive come to this realization after living in 5 different complexes throughout the East Lansing and A2 areas. With that being said, Glencoe Hills Apartments has been a great place for my boyfriend and I to live. The price is amazing (especially from being considered Ann Arbor still)!! Not to mention, the property is absolutely gorgeous. The landscaping always looks great, and there are a few natural trails/jogging paths that make Glencoe a fun place to live. You are a mile from anything you could ever need (Meijer, Target, fast food, Arborland, etc.), all while being less than a 1/4 mile from US 23. All of my neighbors have been courteous and respectful. I feel very safe living here. I knock off 1 star because yes, I will agree that it is really hard to get ahold of someone in the leasing office. And the maintenance really drags their feet. This is typical for rental property, but nonetheless. Overall, if you are able to find a place here, dont let the negative reviews scare you off. No living arrangement is/will ever be perfect! :) If you are looking for a peaceful, clean place to live while being so close to everything, Id stop in and talk with a leasing agent!
I have lived here for about 8 months now and I have never wanted to move out of an apartment complex so bad. We were told the apartment would be ready by a certain date so my roommate had everything set for her old place to move out on that day and for the UHAUL truck as well, then they told us actually it wont be ready by then, and we told them we have no other choice, so we didnt even get to see our place before we moved in. BIG MISTAKE!!! The water bill is over $80 a month for me and one roommate who cant even use our dishwasher because its broken, we have had maintenance come and look at it several times and they say its not broken we are just putting stuff in the wrong places and its covering the sprayer.... really? No matter how we put stuff in or how little we put it leaves the dishes greasy and more dirty then when we first put them in. Also our kitchen sink is poorly caulked and coming apart (cold water makes LOUD grunting noise when turned on) and the cupboard under the sink was all moldy and sinking in the middle so all they did to fix it was put a piece of unfinished plywood on it. Our floor in the living/dining room is so uneven that we have to fold cardboard and put it under our furniture so it wont fall over, they said there is nothing they can do about this. Carpet smelled like cat pee in certain corners when we moved in and all they did was spray it with some lemon stuff. Master bath was disgusting with mildew and both toilets get so dirty after only a week or so, Ive never had this problem at any complex before. The paint job in the bathroom is also horrible, there is a long black hair painted into my ceiling and paint all over the mirrors. The windows are incredibly shitty and blow cold air in the winter non-stop, our DTE bill is always over $100 and we are on the third floor. Shelves in the pantry and hall closet dip down in the middle so far its EXTREMELY poor quality and very inconvenient. They only gave us one exercise room key for a three bedroom apartment and said it will cost $50 if you loose it. They only have one treadmill that works anyway. Parking is TERRIBLE there are about 20 parking spots by my building and the one behind me for more than 24 units inside each building!!!! Thats crazy!!!!!! The rest are car ports and there are no open ones right now, plus they are $25 extra a month! OH and same with the washers and dryers! ONLY 3 FOR ALL THOSE PEOPLE!!!!The icing on the cake and why Im making this review is mostly because the week before Christmas my car was stolen from here. I actually got a good parking spot for once, I woke up the next day to go to work and my car was gone. All the office said was Im sorry, well keep an eye out for it. SERIOUSLY?! They didnt even ask me what type of car I had!!!!! They office employees are nice but they usually dont know what their doing so that definitely does not make up for their niceness. I had just bought that car about 6 month prior and it was always locked. They have zero security cameras, no security guard and barely any lights. Only thing I like about this place is its a convenient location but PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Do not ever move here, extremely expensive and not worth not feeling safe at night.
Ive been at Glencoe Hills for 2 years and now that Im moving out.... The situation is changing concerning communication with the office staff....Sometimes the information seems to not be communicated clearly. Which I understand can happen with an answering service.. But, returning phone calls, or sending emails seems like an important part of the chain of communication.Im begining to wonder if Im going to recommend Glencoe to inquiring movers or tell them to avoid this property.... Hopefully affairs with this property end amicably.
They recently upgraded the laundry machines to ones that use quarters instead of the very convenient laundry cards. They also raised the price by 25 cents, and claimed that the switch was for resident convenience. They have failed to install a change machine in the office or in any of the buildings, so there is no way to get enough quarters other than going to the laundromat and doing your laundry there for less money.I wish management would just admit this was all about raising the prices instead of pretending it was for convenience. Theyre never going to get a change machine.
Erica in the leasing office really went above and beyond last week to make sure I could see the apartment I was considering. She was incredibly busy, juggling walk-ins and phone calls along with her regular appointments. I came in without an appointment and explained that I was from out-of-town and only had 1 day to find a place. Erica squeezed me in to see the apartment. As crazy-busy as she was, Erica was professional, helpful, and kind. ERICA - Please show this review to your boss! Thank you again! Molly
The maintenance staff is very responsive and quick to repair things, although sometimes the work quality leaves something to be desired. Ive found the community management here to be terrible, lots of strongly worded letters left on doors, not very responsive to keeping parking lots and sidewalks clear. Id probably live somewhere else if I had to do it all over again.
Its an up and down experience with the management here. The community manager is responsive and very kind, very nice person. But they are understaffed for how busy this place is and theres just a lot of issues with getting things done right the firdt time.Glencoe has standard units that are budget friendly and approximately 35 high end units that are considerably nicer than the 700 or so other units. Decent property and decent upkeep but not good attention to detail.
Glencoe Hills has been the best apartment I have ever lived in! I have traveled and lived in apartments from Vancouver, WA to Long Beach, CA on the West Coast. My wife and I and 2 year old son love the spacious set up and great landscape of the community! I love the pool area and lake to see the Geese with my son!! Overall- A plus!!Thanks Glencoe Hills 🙏
Management is a hot mess. It takes them forever to get any maintenance done. I had a leak in my ceiling which was consider an emergency problem but it took a month to fix. My roommate and I had to call, email, and stop in the office on several occasions. When I did call the emergency maintenance number, it went straight to voicemail - great! Also they have this stupid app for the laundry that absolutely doesnt work. They have super cheap rent that is a plus, but if you can find something else I would......
If I could give this place zero stars I would. I would NEVER recommend Glencoe Hills or Glencoe Oaks to anyone. In fact, I am advising anyone reading this to run far far away from this place. I have lived in 5 different apartment complexes in Ann Arbor and this place is an honest to God hell hole. Please do yourself a favor and DO NOT RENT HERE! I have never felt compelled to write a review of any apartment in Ann Arbor, because honestly they have all been pretty great. There are problems everywhere, but none compare to the insanity of Glencoe Hills.Move-in day was a nightmare. Asked us to move in on Friday rather than Monday because new carpet was to be installed. Called on Friday morning, asked it to come in the afternoon because carpet still wasnt done. Showed up, they had written the lease paperwork incorrectly and LOST THE KEYS TO OUR APARTMENT. Spent two hours in the office only to find out they gave us the wrong apartment. Opposite side of building and the kitchen wasnt updated. Gave us a rent credit and we were FINALLY able to start moving in at around 5:00 pm.Later that night, we noticed a very strong gas smell coming from the kitchen pantry, where there happened to be a gas pipe. I called the after hours maintenance and the man on the phone told me he lived an hour away and asked if I was sure and also asked us to try lighting all the burners on our stove top. Because you know the first thing I like to do when theres a suspected gas leak, is light a fire! We left the apartment to avoid breathing in toxic gas and during that time he came and apparently decided there was no gas leak. He left a note on our door kindly telling us a gas leak would smell like rotten eggs. Which it did. I called him back and urged him to return because there was an OBVIOUS gas leak. He never returned my call and never came to the apartment. The next day, I called the office and the maintenance staff again, and they sent the maintenance manager. He piddled around in the closet and again said, theres no leak. Still not believing him, he said if youre not satisfied, you can call DTE. So, thats what I did. I called DTE and they were out within 10 minutes and guess what? THERE WAS A GAS LEAK. IN THE CLOSET. ALL ALONG. DTE told us that the valve used in our closet was very outdated and really should never be used anymore because they have the tendency to get loose and leak. They wrote up a document so we could force McKinley to fix the pipes. We have been here for two months and on top of the unprofessional, negligent and DANGEROUS behavior on McKinleys part detailed above, here are some other fun experiences:1. A package was left by our mailbox and it was stolen. By a neighbor. I reported this to the office, USPS and the police. Come to find out, they get TONS of complaints about packages being stolen from Glencoe Hills.2. At 7:00 am one morning I notice that the car next to mine is missing a window...and theres glass all on the ground. I look more closely and see a brick next to the car and realize someone broke into a neighbors car during the night! We were the first people to call the police. We asked the office what they were going to do about this and we asked that they send out a notice to the community alerting them of the crime. This was 3 weeks ago. Did they ever send out a notice? No. Has any of the lighting in that parking lot been fixed? No. Is there more visible security or monitoring at night? No.3. We have a neighbor that smokes pot (and cigarettes) pretty incessantly, despite this being a non-smoking property. McKinley did put up a notice, which did nothing. I called the office and they said there wasnt much they could do and that we should just call the police when we smell it. I called the police the next time it was really filling the halls, and the police walked around and determined with some certainty the apartment it was coming from. We told the office. Has the pot smell stopped? Nope. Has this person been evicted? Obviously not.AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS!
DO NOT RENT HERE! Within the first four months of living here, my apartment was broken into twice and someone was murdered in the neighborhood. I got my lock changed the first time for $50, and my apartment was broken into again. There are locked two doors the intruder would have had to get into (the building door and my apartment door), and he had keys to both. It is extremely unsafe. Do not let maintainence in your home with no one there.
I almost lived here once, but the staff pulled the ol bait-and-switch on me and my wife. We lived in WI for a few years, and wanted to return to MI. We checked Glencoe Hills and found a great 2br apartment facing a pond that was available. It was a bit pricey for what we were getting (outdated cabinets and carpet, that one odor that youll get used to, etc.), but the location of the apartment was quiet and we needed a place to stay. The woman helping us assured us of the unit number. THIS IS WHERE YOU NEED TO PAY ATTENTION! Do NOT, I repeat DO NOT trust the person trying to sell you an apartment here. The units are numbered according to their system, not something easy like the actual address. We pointed to the picture of the one we saw, and the lady told us it was unit #XXXX, which WE wrote on the application. 1) They should fill your form out with that information and 2) ALWAYS DOUBLE CHECKWe failed to do either, figured we had our place locked in, and returned a month later, car loaded with all our stuff, 8 hours from Wisconsin, and they give us the keys to a crappy apartment facing Washtenaw Ave. We pointed out the error, but were showed the lease and the unit number we were told to write down wasnt the unit we were shown. We tried to talk to the woman who helped us, but she was quickly whisked away to the back offices and the property manager was sent to deal with us. She refused to admit wrongdoing and told us shed happily place us in any other open unit. We decided NOT to trust this company, and I fought with them to give us our security deposit AND first months rent back. After 2 days of back and forth, we agreed (NOT amicably, mind you) that we would lose a portion of what wed paid already, which was a hefty sum of $800.This place is shady, the staff is clearly only out to make a buck, and they essentially, in my mind, stole $800 from us. If this place closed down tomorrow, Id be the last person on Earth to shed one single tear. Do business with them at your own peril.
Its ok is a perfect description. Full disclaimer, I never have rented a place, but my significant other did for a time. The rooms are pretty nice, and the view is quite scenic. There is a healthy amount of traffic, day and night, which can be fine if you ordinarily use a noise generator anyways (like me). Some neighbors friendly, others not so much. There is a bus stop nearby, but the return stop is across the street on Washtenaw which doesnt have easy road crossings, and makes crossing at night dangerous.
Drug den. The apartment above me had an attempted break in. Our building has complained about drug use in the basement for months and nothing has been done. Just call the cops, they say. It does say in the lease our safety is not their responsibility. They spend thousands on keeping the community looking good to bring residents in but once youre in, they dont care about you. McKinley wont spend 100 dollars on a camera but you get new tulips every spring. :-)
This company like to discriminate again people by allowing people with 32 felony convictions and currently on parole to live in these apartments and without being on the lease!! They say they don’t allow felons to live here and you have to be on the lease but they pick and choose who they want to live in these apartments. The company McKinley doesn’t care about anyone’s safety and security of everyone property. They only care about the money. That’s why the crime rate near this apartment has gone up in the past year or so. So I would highly recommend people refuse to rent from this company or if you are denied based on having a felony or on parole please file a discrimination lawsuit against this company.
Im not so sure if the negative reviews here are from actual people that lived here or not. Ive lived at Glencoe Hills for three years now. At first I was hesitant to move in here due to the bad reviews left on the website. I decided to try it and the only reason Im moving is because its getting too expensive for me. This is the same reason for the 3 stars, pricing.Ive never had an issue with maintenance, the grounds are always kept clean, and Ive never had people knock on my door late at night, or ever unless it was a delivery driver.
Beautiful grounds and apartment is good but the crime is very bad. A man was shot int the last month on the poperty, police are here daily, there are drug deals in the parking lot, parties all night and people laying on the sidewalks passed out on drugs. Im afraid to walk my dog. They need security cameras, security on the property, and a neighborhood watch. Its a shame it could be a great place in the Ann Arbor area. Another night of cops and arrests last night. I suggest you move out.
First, there were MAGGOTS falling from the bathroom ceiling for a month, with little to no help from management to “fix” the problem. We had to pay to get moved to another, maggot free, unit or pay over $1,000 to get out of the lease. This was documented and sent to the health agency. Management continuously ignored our phone calls about the problem (we know this is true because no one would answer when we called, but when we used a different phone they would answer). Second, while the maggot fiasco was going on, the laundry room next door completely flooded our dining room. Third, they constantly leave notes on your door saying “someone” is going to be fixing “something” and coming at XX time and date. This “contractor” who came left 25 nails from a nail gun just sitting on the floor and my new 11 week old puppy was chewing on them! Again, little to no help or anything from management. Save yourselves the time, money, and trouble and keep looking.
Upon move-in, no hot water, broken toilet handle, chair legs falling out, blinds not able to close, oven not working, under-powered refrigerator. Constant problems with a/c going out and oven pilot not staying lit. Only one washer/drier per building which you have to go to the leasing office to recharge the card in order to use. Huge bugs in the apartment - centipede, roaches, and night woke up with the biggest ant Ive ever seen in my life crawling on my head. The one good thing is that maintenance is fast to respond, and the leasing staff are pleasant to work with.
This company and apartment continues to discriminate and disregard the safety of the people who live there by having a parolee living at the glencoe hills apartments at 2248 glencoe hills drive apartment 3 with two people also living at this location that aren’t on the lease because of being someone who has 32 felonies living in the apartment. Total disregard to everyone wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone and highly recommend everyone thinking of renting to go else where. They will eventually discriminate against you either now or sooner or later and I guarantee that.
Worst place I ever lived.Poor management. Always lose your mail, package and never apologize for their mistake. I had to dig out my mail sent from US government myself in their returned mails.I paid for my carport and always find someone parked in it. After I found out glencoe double booked the same spot. No apology. They didnt even check who made mistake or which teanant signed first for the spot. And made me pay more for a spot down next lot.DO NOT LIVE HERE.
The Management is worst. The customer service manager is the worst. I had a problem in my unit and its more than one month its not solved nor even she tried to address it. I had to email her every two days and I had to pay maintenance fees and its like I am baby sitting her. She never stands on words and never apologies and I dont understand how the management is keeping her. I will make sure that all my colleagues and myself will move out. Dont stay in this apartments.
Glencoe hills is a nice place they try to keep everything updated as much as possible. The property is super beautiful in the summer especially around the little lake. If you clear your mind step back and just look at the beauty of nature it helps brighten the day. Its so peaceful.
If you like living in an apt building infested with bed bugs this is the place to be. Or the entire buildings toilets back up into your apt cause you live on the bottom floor and a professional plumber tells you that it’s a temporary fix and unfortunately it’s gonna happen again. Then this is the place to be!! If you have all kinds of money and don’t mind paying way more money then you signed up for then this is the place to be!!! So if you feel like getting Screwd Then move here to GLENECO HILLS!!!
WE ARE REPORTING THEM TO HUD (Housing and Urban Development). My boyfriend and I recently ran into a NIGHTMARE scenario with their management. One of their workers, Michelle, wrote down the incorrect apartment number on our rental application with the description of a unit that DID NOT MATCH. We signed the lease thinking we were getting a nice, fixed up place- only then to pack up all our things, get there and realize we had been given a completely terrible unit overlooking Washtenaw (instead of the pond view we were lead to believe the place had). This TERRIBLY LARGE mistake on her part was never apologized for and the property manager was not at all empathetic to the horrible situation they had put us in. It cost us over $1000 to break our lease, even though Michelle caused us to sign the lease under false pretenses. Please, if you ever consider renting at Glencoe Hills, or any other McKinely property, BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL and dont expect management to deal with any issues you many have like reasonable adults.
I have never personally had any unusual issues with my apartment, but I hear bad things from others. My only complaint is road noise which I dont really mind anyways. Just keep your door locked at all times and watch your back. Its near ypsi so do you really expect any less?
I have been living here for little over 6 months and what I can say is the worst management ever. We have been having hot water problem over 3 months and manager kept ignoring to give a solution. We have to call the emergency maintenance every morning to get the boiler running. On top of everything manager seem to think its our fault. AVOID THiS PLACE
Cons:People getting shot.Drug deals.Sketchy people walking around.License plate was stolen off my car!!!!!!Online shopping box stolen off front steps.Kids unattended.Shady teenagers roaming around outside.Pools full of noisy kids.Non negotiable late fee. FOR A LOYAL TENANT THAT HAS PAID ON TIME FOR 3 YEARS.....Pros: You have a place to eat, poop, and sleep.GLENCOE/MCKINLEY...PLEASE SCREEN THE S*** OUT OF ALL TENANTS, PUT UP GATES, HAVE RENT-A-COPS ON DUTY PATROLLING, AND RESPECT YOUR LOYAL TENANTS.THEN MAYBE JUST MAYBE YOU WILL HAVE SOME DECENT REVIEWS ON HERE!!!!
Worst place Ive ever lived. Had problems with the office before I even moved in. They are extremely unprofessional, and have poor communication. Maintenance is just as as bad, nothing is ever fixed in a timely manner. If I could move tomorrow, I would. Dont live here!
Drugs and crime. We moved. Its not everyone in Glencoe but young encouragedable kids from the apartments next to glencoe will scout your place then later the adults kick your door in. There was a drug related murder on their property. They tried to cover it up but I talked to the police myself.
DO NOT RENT HERE!!! I REPEAT DO NOT RENT HERE!! OFFICE STAFF IS TERRIBLE, MAINTENANCE IS SLOW, APARTMENTS ARE SEVERELY OUT OF DATE, APPLIANCES ARE FAILING AND OLDER THAN I AM. YOU WILL FEEL LIKE YOU LIVE IN A CONSTRUCTION ZONE. EVERYTHING HERE IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION. IT HAS BEEN THIS WAY FOR SEVERAL MONTHS. THEY LET ANYONE MOVE IN HERE. THEY JUST MOVED SOMEONE IN ABOVE ME THAT HAS SEVERAL DOGS AND THEY BARK ALL DAY LONG. I CALLED THE OFFICE MONTHS AGO TO HAVE THEM COME AND SPRAY THE BUGS AND THEY STILL HAVE YET TO DO IT. UNLESS YOU LIKE LIVING WITH BUGS DO NOT RENT HERE. ALSO THEY WENT SMOKE FREE AND ARE DISCRIMINATING AGAINST ALL SMOKERS. THIS IS A TERRIBLE PLACE TO LIVE AND I HAVE NEVER WANTED TO MOVE OUT OF A PLACE SO BADLY.

2022-01-17I like the apartment complex a lot! Everyone is very nice and the maintenance was awesome! I’m very surprised how much I love this gem! I’m right next to the college so my gas bill practically went to nothing! It’s an old apartment. So what. I think it’s great! The neighbors have been awesome! I didn’t feel like I belonged at my last complex but this place seems to fit!

2022-05-04Worst renting experience ever. No care or concern for safety. Many child predators on the premises actual tenants was reported to management they didn’t care. I am out of here! People coming to my door all times of the night door isn’t secure. Apartment falling apart trash not worth the money. Management and staff had changed three times since I been here less than 2 years. 2022-05-11The worst maintenance service I have ever seen. The Air conditioning wasn’t working for 2 days and no water in the apartment. Even after talking to leasing office and emergency maintenance people no one fixed the issue. We have a toddler and he wasn’t able to sleep 2 nights. Even now after talking to emergency service they just say will send someone but no service yet.

2022-04-01Trash apartments.Harassment from neighbors, so many stolen packages, multiple people in the building smoking weed & cigarettes in a no smoking community. Management is impossible to reach, whether by phone or email.

2021-09-01Pathetic service. Our dishwasher is not working since two months. First they told that some part of machine has been ordered to replace with the previous one. But the part never came . After 15 days of continuous calls they brought the part from sister apartment.(they can do this earlier). After two days again machine failed to operate. Since then they are telling us that they have ordered a new dishwasher for us...its been more than a month now. They are not even giving us the details.. We have a super active toddler inhouse. Its very difficult to do manage all things. We called at local stores for dishwasher they said within two days they can deliver. Very frustrating sevice.

2021-03-02Rusty made our leasing process smooth and easy. Very responsive to any questions we had and ensured we are satisfied with our apartment. The level of customer service was certainly above par than most complexes I’ve experienced. The building is nice and our apartment is nice and big. Very pleased with the entire process! Thank you Rusty!** I unfortunately will have to edit this to say this apartment complex is a complete sham. Everything is constantly breaking, management is poor and staff is never consistent, maintenance fixes things that break the next week, will leave your vehicle snowed in for days without a care, Your packages will 100% be stolen every single time, Ive gone an entire month in the winter without proper working heat and they maintenance mans solution was telling me to duct tape my broken vent.....I followed up with Sarah the manager and still,. no heat. Id like to include I have a newborn baby sleeping with me in my room without adequate heat. This place is crazy, its always something. I have months and months worth of pictures and documentation regarding all of the awful things that have occurred in this apartment complex. I fully intend on contacting legal representation at this point...PLEASE dont rent here. **Yet another update:Last week my husband fell on the property of Glencoe Hills Apartments in Ann Arbor, MI. Has since seriously injured his toe, I’ve received absolutely no response from the office after submitting photos, my posts to the resident portal are blocked and my emails are unanswered. This is seriously the absolute horrible truth how McKinley treats their residents. I’ve reached out to Keith Harden, Sarah Thompson and Jordan in the office of Glencoe Hills and still ignored. My husband needs medical attention but the apartment should be responsible due to the poor conditions of the apartment complex and the ice that was lazily left on the sidewalk when they were supposed to be taking care of our property of those conditions. At this point we just want to at least hear back from the office or someone for that matter. This is the most awful we have ever been treated by a property company we’ve rented from***another edit***Not only was I contacted by Keith Harden and told to put in a statement that I don’t want monetary compensation but I just want my lease terminated as compensation (which I did) I never received the documentation from him saying we could do that. Was basically forced to say this to not even receive anything in return. Now, I’m blocked into my building because someone completely ripped the railing off the porch and you can’t even exit the building. Not only is this a fire hazard it’s NOT SAFE and it almost fell on my 5 week olds baby carrier!!!! I just want out of here without any repercussions to my credit. It is NOT safe here!!! Definitely contacting the attorney general, a lawyer and the fire chief at this point. Probably even the local news station too because the maintenance man came into my apartment yesterday said oh I forgot about replacing your vent so you could have heat and left. And never came back!!!!! I’ll certainly be making calls today. This is crazyCasey Carson

2019-11-14Overall great experience so far with Glencoe. My roommate and I have lived here since the summertime, and have sincerely enjoyed our stay. During the first 2 months we had a couple of issues which were addressed with urgency, despite the business that summertime brings to rental properties. Although at times it can be busy in the leasing office, Ive never had to wait more than a few short moments for package pickup, or answers to questions that Ive had. I would recommend this property to anyone staying in the Ypsilanti/Ann Arbor area whether it be for school (EMU/WCC/UM), work or relocation for any reason. Thank you, Glencoe for making this truly a home!

2020-08-18If I could give it a zero star, I would give it. I have paid to reserve for an apartment 8 months before move in date in August 2020, paying 200$ extra with the application fee of 50$. In April 2020, we sign the move in summary with Mackinly Glencoe, where the apartment number was written on the paper. We were given a move in date in the first week of August. When the move in date came, we called for having the key and then they informed us they can not give us the apartment because the apartment is not available. We told them that, they should informed us at least two weeks ago. For discussing alternatives we called them many many times, but they said they will inform uswhen they have alternatives. They even promised to send us papers of apartment confirmation before the move in date came, but they never called back, reply email or sent any documents. We requested them many times to send us the lease papers before the move in date, they even dont send us those papers, even we signed the move in summary with them. Series of discussion occured, they lured us with a lot of false promises, sometimes with money and alternative apartment with bad condition or location, so that we compromise with their offer and move in without asking about the injustice. Still when we asked for any confirmational documents of their offer, they said they will send us some documents to prove they actually allotted an apartment for us to move in, but they never sent them. We keep waiting for their response after every call we made. We were very stressed and dishearted with this injust and unfair situation. At the end, I have to left 200$ dollars behind because they will not return my money. Now its look like, it is a business to them to collect pre-reservation fees by luring us with possible facilities and false promises. As a result, we are on a verge of staying on the streets when our old apartment lease finished. At the end we did not move in to Glencoe and move somewhere else.Moral of the story, we chose Glenco, seeing their community facility and extravagant office, all of them are like a trap. But this company is a fraud, they does not care about their clients. All of their employees are lier. They lied frequently about everything, even next day same person changes everything what he said yesterday and they are lack of honesty and coordination. I heard many many complaints about Glencoes management but didnt believe before. I thought Mackinly is a big company and they could not do these kind of fraud with their clients, but I was very wrong. In this situation, I advice everyone not go to Mackinly especially Glencoe hill for apartment. Save yourself from these frauds and search elsewhere.

2021-01-19My biggest issue is the washers and dryers, they don’t work that well and it is 1.75 $ in quarters. They tell you that they have an app, no they dont. Their app does not work, so don’t even bother. I did a load and after an hour in the dryer, my small amount of clothes were not dry, and I could not get enough quarters to dry it again. I was stuck with wet clothes. Multiple times has the ceiling in the shower fell through, and it took awhile to get fixed.

2020-08-28Unprofessional, Liar, and Money taker! Is there any option to give a negative star? Fortunately, Google does not allow this!We reserved a Two-bedroom apartment on 10/12/2019 for August 2020. They took $199.00 for reservation fee and $50.00 for an application fee. Back in April 2020, they sent us a move-in summary and with the apartment number and move-in date (8/7/2020). We signed the documents and returned to them. From April to August, I sent several emails and called several times for confirming that do we need to sign any other documents, and when I have to pay the security deposit. Every time they answered the office stuff will contact me.Based on the move-in summary we canceled our lease to the current apartment. As our move-in date approaching, we plan to reserve a U-Haul truck for transporting our stuff. They still didnt contact us. When we call for the key on August 4 or 5, 2020 then they are saying we cant move-in on 8/7/202. I asked them where we will go now as we canceled our lease to the current apartment. Alycia, a representative, said that we need to move to a different apartment, however, we refused her proposal. Then she said they will arrange for our stay from August 7 and on August 19 we can move into the apartment that we signed for. We agreed upon her proposal however, on the next day she lied and said she will not arrange any place for our stay till getting the same apartment. It makes a totally unstable situation for us. At the same time, I requested my current apartment owner that we will stay a few days more and pay for it. Fortunately, it works. At this time, we do not want to be in hanging situations. I have talked to them on 8/7 and they promised us to send the confirmation documents on 8/7 but we didnt receive it. We called again on 8/10, again we didnt hear back. They sent us again the move-in the summary (Not Lease documents) and card authorization form on 8/17, last time we signed the reservation agreement and move-in summary, however, Alycia said the move-in summary is not a lease agreement, therefore they are not bound to give us an apartment. She said there is a clause that stated that it can be changed, however, I have checked the move-in summary several times, I didnt find any clause that stated that it can be changed. How we rely on their move-in summary again. After reading tons of negative reviews on the Internet still we had decided to move in there. We again called on 8/12 to confirm whether we are receiving the documents or not. Again we couldnt reach you.We LOST our $249.00. This is our WORSE experience with Glencoe Hill.
