My children and I were there in July 2019. It had only been 7 1/2 months since my husband had passed away. I was still grieving very badly. I knew I wanted a ring to replace my wedding ring that I havent been able to wear. I also knew I didnt want a big ring. I was kinda looking for something that had some diamonds but his birthstone as well. They were very helpful and helped me find the perfect ring. The ladies were so nice and they shared in my emotions. It was a wonderful experience!
My Father has a gold chain that he is trying to get fixed and being that it is a unique piece he was diligent in doing research before bringing it in. AFTER speaking to an employee on the phone who was very condescending and rude to him he decided to give them a second shot and drove all the way from the Sault. Upon arriving at the store later that day he was met with the same attitude he received over the phone. Its a shame that this took place as we wanted to support and work with a local business. To the owner/employee, please do not be quick to pass judgement on potential customers and assume you know more then they do....it comes off as rude and very distasteful. Good luck with your future customers and business.

I asked this jeweler to design an earing for my husband to celebrate our fiftieth wedding anniversary. Little did I know, she had created a necklace for me for the same occasion. Both pieces were exquisite and went well together without being matchy matchy. We were both delighted!

My wifes wedding ring came from here. I took a picture of it as she saw it and liked it on a trip we took when we were dating (I did that with out her seeing me do it). A couple years later I contacted the store and they knew exactly which one it was. This business is by far tremendously better than any mall chain u will ever encounter. Their designs are very unique and one of a kind.Its worth the drive to beautiful St Ignace and they will ship items also. Owners and sales staff are very professional yet laid back and put zero pressure on making a sale.

My boyfriend and I walked in because he wanted his ring finger measured. He was helped by the owner while I walked around the store. We fell in love with the Mackinac Bridge design rings and he purchased them for my engagement ring and his wedding band. Weve set the date for February 2019 and were so excited! Everyone was very nice and helpful. We will return the next time w are in St. Ignace!

My wife and I travel to Mackinaw City/Mackinaw Island every summer. A must stop is the Gold Mine in St. Ignace. There is no pressure from owner or sales staff. They have designs unique to their store created by co-owner Yvonne. Men are equally represented. This last stop was in July of 2016, I purchased two sets of cuff linksone of Petosky Stone and I cant remember the other name of stone, but the stone is white with fine grey lines in it, again, very unique designs. Did my wife make any purchases..... you must be kidding. This is a class jewelery store that I highly recommend you visit.Dan......SE Michigan
Gold Mine Jewelry is 16 hours worth of amazing!If you are looking for beautiful, creative, and well priced items then this is the right place. If you are looking for Knowledgable, interesting, and friendly people this is also the right place for you. If you are looking for information about the area along with some funny stories this is the place for you.I cannot post a picture of the ring because I have not proposed yet. But in anticipation of proposing I emailed Tom and Yvonne about one desing that happened to be made in a few different ways. After three or four emails I felt that the design and colors they sent me were perfect. Of course for an engagement ring being made 8 hours away I felt that I wanted to have her sized by the store it came from and I wanted to see it and make sure it was what I wanted first. The reason we drove 8 hours to visit Yvonne and Tom, was the design of the ring. I have never seen and continue to not see anything like it, even on the internet. In fact they have alot of ingenous designs. Another plus to making that trip was that my girlfriend was able to meet the designer of her ring. When you visit your local cookie cutter mall store you definitely dont get that experience. And with a piece of jewelry you are going to wear the rest of your life, its pretty nice to know that such a wonderful person made it. So we finally arrived in St. Ignace which is unbelieveably beautiful. The sights alone were worth the trip. When I walked in Tom and Yvonne greeted me and showed me how to size a ring. Unsure of myself, Yvonne grabbed the tool to size and ent out to the car and sized my girlfriends finger. Then we looked at the different designs and carat sizes and figured out exactly what I wanted. After I said Thats it. Thats the right one. Yvonne pulled an already wrapped box out of the display case and opened it. There sat the exact design with the exact stone and the exact size that I wanted. She created the perfect ring for me based on only a few emails. The center stone needed to be an exact color and she also matched it exactly without even speaking to me. The next ste was to take care of business and I have to say I was beyond pleased with the price. They also made special arrangements for me to use my AMEX card, which they dont normally accept. I not only was able to charge the purchase but I got my points too! After we took care of business Yvonne pulled that specific line of jewelry out of the case and even removed giant framed pictures from the wall so my girlfreind could come in and see some of her work without giving away the ring. Tom and Yvonne spent two hours with us and at least one hour after they closed just showing us her designs and sharing stories and great information about the area. Susequently based on that visit we are already preparing to book a summer vacation to St. Ignace. I can tell you Yvonnes designs are just like Tom, one of a kind. They are all so beautiful and creative. We spent the trip home discussing how amazing a visit that was and how regardless of what the ring is she is so happy to know that her ring was made from someone so great. We definitely feel like we met some friends to visit next time we visit the U.P. and I can tell you I already have My girlfriends birthday present picked out.Thanks Tom and Yvonne!

I recently purchased an engagement ring for my girlfriend of 7years from here and couldnt be happier.We wondered in during the car show this year and was browsing threw the shop when my girlfriend spotted the ring.After we left that day I thought about why not itds been long enough so I reached out ot Gold Mine by phone and discussed them finding a Diamond to fit.And they sure did an excellent job of selecting the stone it is wonderful!We live 4hours away from them but they were so accommodating that it seamed like no trouble at all.I could not find a better value anywhere in the area I live and the quality and service could not have been better.The ring is amazing and my fiance could not be happier! :) Thanks Gold Mine. I was looking for a petosky stone mitten necklace but they didnt have any on the floor. The sales staff asked how long I was going to be in town and told me to stop back in before I left town. I went in the next day and they had two options for me to choice from! Small town service at its finest.

2021-10-10The Gold Mine is AWESOME. I have been visiting St. Ignace/Mackinac Island for years and stopping in to shop here is always a highlight of my trip! The staff is amazing - great knowledge and great conversations! I brought several pieces in for repair, including my mothers wedding ring that I wanted to have made into a necklace (pic attached) Yvonne did a beautiful job and it brought me to tears when I saw it -good tears! They went above and beyond and completed the work in one day as I was heading home to Florida. I can only shop in store twice a year, but can still shop online where I have purchased other items - packaging is great and shipping fast! Thank you Gold Mine...Ill see you soon!

2021-11-19I love the Gold Mine Jewelry! This is my favorite store in downtown Saint Ignace. It’s such a great store with lots of things to look at, not only jewelry. They have polish pottery, coffee, purses, clocks, art work, and so much more.But if you are in the market for jewelry this is the place for you! Evon, the jeweler, is super talented! She designs lines of her own jewelry inspired by Mackinac. They are truly something to see.She along with others in the store can also work along side you to make pieces of jewelry that you have shine even brighter by enhancing them. This is where my review comes in. I wanted to upgrade my stone on my engagement ring. I consulted with those that worked at the store and we decided on replacing my center stone with this 1.75ct moissanite. And can I just say that I am in love!!!!!!!!! Holy cow! I love the way this ring turned out! If you have any jewelry needs or just a free half an hour to browse, check out the Gold Mine!The first two pictures are how we updated my ring, the last is how it was.

2022-05-03The Gold Mine has been the store I always have to go into, no matter how long I am in town. A few years ago my husband bought me a Mackinac Bridge necklace. Earlier this year I had an idea about putting my daughter and grandsons birth stone on the bottom of the necklace. I dropped off my necklace on April 19th and received it back yesterday and I am so pleased with the final results. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.

2021-09-03The staff and jeweler at the Gold Mine always goes above and beyond expectations!!! I have purchased several pieces from here as well as brought in other pieces to be repaired. It is always completed perfectly and on a timely manner. I would not trust my valued pieces with ANYONE besides them!!

2019-07-31Recently we were traveling through the UP and stopped at the Gold Mine Jewelry store. What a wonderful place! Yvonne and her staff were so helpful and she was able to change a design on my wedding ring. She also was able to size my husbands turquoise ring without taking out the stones. Just a wonderful place and a tribute to what a great business does right. We will travel to St. Ignace in the future to work with her when purchasing jewelry. She and her staff are amazing.
