Yummy, fresh. They should tidy up the carryout area. It is separate from the sit-down area and the light is really dirty out there. That being said the food was so delicious I dont even care. In addition The Waitresses could be a lot more nicer so, then I would have left a tip. I know the pictures may not look all that great but believe me its so good.
Pros: The Legend and by consensus #1 among the Detroit area prefab greaseburger joints. When we were first dating my wife and I went to a Halloween party dressed as Hunter House (me, because I grew up east side) and Greenes (her, she grew up west). We each brought a bag of burgers from our respective grills and did a blind taste test with the guests. Despite HHs being fresher, Greenes got every vote.Theres a reason locals order a stack of Greenes for their weddings, why cousins who come into town wont see their rooms until theyre properly smelling like onions and greasy goodness. Theres a reason wives around here know not to say Just feed the kids to their husbands (see photo for result). Theres a reason, back when they were open late, that people would stick around for another drink in hopes of pushing the night into Greenes Time, and why a spouse who did so on Saturday night can get excused if theres a white bag with two dbl cheeseburgers and a sloppy grease stain in the fridge waiting for their significant other on Sunday morning.I once was there and saw a soldier just returning from a tour in Iraq. He ordered 10 and housed them. This was his promise to himself if he ever made it home. And yeah, that tracks.Con: Between Greenes and our sports teams, theres no such thing as a poor cardiologist in Farmington Hills.
Maybe Covid had an impact? I still think the employees here do a good job. Tonight I ordered through Door Dash. This trash company continues to scam customers throughout America, and yes I am one of them simply because it is simple to place an order and usually get your order. Usually means the food you actually ordered. Now I understand that the DD employees do not tip the restaurant employees and that concerns and upsets me a lot. Sometimes I wonder if the restaurant employees sabotage or purposely short an order just to get back at Door Dash when all that may be happening is screwing the customer. Not saying that is what happened here tonight, but my order from Greenes was short and cold. Smashed inside one bag was everything (suggest 2 bags next time so as not smash the food), but also QC the order so nothing comes up short. When I called and asked the employee at Greenes about who I should contact , the stoic and unapologetic response was Door Dash. Bust as I thought about it you took the order over your computer as you told me and then you bag and fill it (and then some) but you leave out items that cost money for us, the customer. One of the options was I could come and pick up the missing items (inside I was saying to myself youre kidding me, you have to be?). But, No, she was not. And no apology and then I hung up in disgust at the lack of concern. After all, I wasnt a customer in person. Then, try chatting with Door Dash Help. OMG I after 1 hour and 14 minutes I finally got my money for the missing items and a $5 inconvenience fee. Yep, thats it. Then I had to fight for the administrative fees and tip they charged me. Why should they keep it when I did not receive for what I paid for? In then end it was a an experience beyond hell. I dont blame Door Dash as much as I do Greenes. At least Door Dash worked to fix a problem, if my order had been fulfilled correctly, then I wouldnt have had to go through all of that. One other note and not sure anyone else noticed, but the burgers DO NOT taste as good a they did some years back. I noticed the buns are a little darker and they are horrible tasting. So actually getting my money back for 2 Double Cheeseburgers wasnt a bad deal as the taste is not the same and actually dry, my opinion only on that.
The burgers were great and the chocolate milkshake was delicious, but WOW WAS THE STAFF SO TOTALLY RUDE AND AMBIVALENT. The girl working could not possibly have hated her job or the customers in the restaurant more, and she made sure to just ooze misery and disdain. For example, we ordered a double cheeseburger... in every other spot a double means two patties. Here it means twice the meat in a single patty, but it still looks like a single. When we asked about it we got an enormous eye roll and had it explained to us as if we were the stupidest people on the planet for not knowing they serve a double differently than every other place on the planet. Jeeze. Not only that but the ventilation system just blows the grease from the stove and the friers into your face so our eyes were watering the entire time. Other customers commented on this as well.However... the burgers were delicious and the shake was perfect. Id do carryout in the future but you couldnt pay me to dine in and have to spend time with that person behind the counter again.
I have been a fan of Greenes almost my whole life. I am very disappointed about my visit today. First of all, the Google site still says employees wear masks, but they were not wearing masks. This should be updated. I waited in the carryout window, as another person was ordering. I overheard them discussing that they will not be wearing masks because theres a pill for that for COVID, which I can only assume is Ivermectin. But what really bugs me, is after the person of color ordering left the carryout window, the person who took my order, who Ive seen here for years, said She is beautiful for a black woman and even repeated it. I will not be returning.Edit: Greenes responded and said, As for the rest we can not speak for another customer and what they may say. The other customer is not the one who said theres a pill for that, or she is beautiful for a black woman. The person who said this works at Greenes. I have read two other reviews mentioning racist behavior as well.
Great late night joint! The staff accommodated our group even though it was close to closing. The food was nice and greasy just like you want it for late night carryout. :) I really liked the burgers but the fries, not so much. The shake was ok and the Pepsi was… Pepsi lol
The sliders were just ok. I didn’t like the meat patties, needed salt and I rarely salt my food. It may have tasted bad because the onions were charred instead of caramelized. It makes a difference in the taste and texture. I thought they were overpriced for what you were getting.I have better slider places near me that I would not drive out of my way for this again.
1 woman running the show when i was there with my wife. She did an amazing job getting food out quick and with accuracy. She went from 2 customers to about 10 in less than 15 minutes and she handled it like a pro. Phenomenal food combined with great customer service equals a 20/10 experience.
Greenes Hamburgers is one of the most iconic restaurants in the metro detroit area. Known by all, for some of the best sliders in Michigan. With onion, pickle and a little ketchup, you cannot go wrong. Same order every time: two triple cheeseburgers, a chilli cheese fry and a coke. The staff is always accommodating and friendly. This is just one of those iconic Michigan joints you have to hit if your in the area.
Was in the area and decided to give it a try. Now that seating is allowed, they’re allowing 5 people in the dining area. Server was very helpful. Great sliders added Franks, ketchup and mustard to my 3 singles and had it with the grilled onions and pickles. French fries were the crinkle cut and we’re perfect. Nice little place, would stop again if I’m in the area.
Worlds best hamburger. Everything about their food is 100% perfect. The patties are perfectly cooked, with a great crust on the outside. The caramelization on the onions adds a delicious flavor and smell. In my opinion, the double hamburger is the way to go. Also, make sure to get more than one, because youll wish you had another as soon as you finish the first. Dont pass up an opportunity to visit Greenes, youll never have a better slider.
Good burgers, but within ten minutes of ordering and picking up our order, our order was wrong. When we got home we realized they gave us four single burgers instead of the two singles and two doubles that we ordered and paid for. A bit pricey for the size burger you receive, too.
Love this place, stop in all the time. The food is always great, 24 hours a day, and the staff always are ready to help with a smile. The classic white building is unmistakable, and the aroma gets you hungry before you even get inside! Dont pass this place by, definitely step inside. Youll be surprised by the menu, too, offering a lot more than just sliders. Though, at least for me, that what keeps me coming back time after time.
Unbelievable. I’ve lived in Arizona for 25 years now, but I grew up around 7 mile and Schaefer in Detroit, where the original Greene’s Hamburgers was located. This place is a legend. I had a paper route (1973) and the first sign of my financial independence was to afford a Greene’s hamburger whenever I wanted one (which was often).I’ve talked about this place my whole life as being the best hamburger I ever had. I thought they were done when they left that location. How wonderful to see the tradition lives. I will be seeing you on my next visit to Detroit.
My job takes me away from home , so its usually hard to find food that tastes just as good. Well this place has honestly had me feeling like I was eating at my favorite fast food joint back home. Great service and fast. The breakfast is great too. Will definitely be eating here one last time before leaving for home.
One of my favorite places. The staff had the unfortunate job of dealing with some drunk idiots who were whistling to get attention. They were totally rude and hostile to the staff, and they handled it like a pro- got them their check and out the door in record time.Great food and the staff really cares about their customers and each other. Highly recommend.
The food is good but overly priced. I’m guessing it’s a “mom and pop “ stop which is cool, but I’ve been to a lot and still got my monies worth. I had a shake, fries, and a double hamburger which you would think be 2 patties but it’s actually 1—-and it looks like a single. Tbh my little niece could have ate it as her happy meal, just missing the toy lol
A classic 50s diner with very minimal options but they stick to their lane and do a good job at it. Greens VS Bates is the great debate from what I hear, so I tried them both. By far, Bates is the winner. I came here with my bride and enjoyed a couple cheese burgers and a plate of fries. The burger was tasty overall but the meat was bleh. I did enjoy the fries and the chocolate shake was good as well. It was rather busy, right about the lunch hour, and service took a bit of time. Id go back for sure and definitely recommend trying it out if youve never been.
HORRIBLE customer service. The waitresses are very rude. They take forever to service you. Every time I’ve come in there they have ignored me when I try to ask for something. I’m convinced all of the waitresses are racist. I’ve had my change thrown in my face, food dropped on the counter, and given the wrong order. Greene’s burgers isn’t the best burger place , their food is decent but their customer service makes it worse. If I could rate them 0 stars I would. I will NEVER be back and spending my money to be treated like garbage.
If a grilled cheeseburger if your thing, get the tripple cheese with grilled onions! Take a chance with the onion rings. You will not be disappointed. Two ways to order, on the south side for takeout in a heated alcove, inside to eat at clean stainless counters. I think they are best inside.
Sliders here are delicious but portions leave a lot to be desired, French fries are crinkle cuts that obviously come frozen in bags, shake was delicious but having only one flavor is lackluster. On the whole if you want a great slider experience I would recommend Bates over Greenes, but Id go to Greenes before about any other burger place.
This place offers the best classic 50s style greasy hamburgers I have ever had, equally good as Bates just a mile down the road. Ill pick whichever one is closest on my trip. But Bates closes I think it 10 p.m. so usually its Greenes for me.When you have a craving anytime or especially after a night out at a bar, this place is open 24/7 and fantastic choice for sitting at the counter and gorging yourself onion rings or fries and cheese-and-onion-topped, succulently greasy burgers. The white bun melts in your mouth. With another style of burger this might be a negative. With a juicy 50s style burger, its part of the whole great food thats bad for you experience. In fact it comes off the griddle hot, with the bun already melting from the burger by the time it gets to your plate or carry out bag!I rarely get the fries or anything else but a burger and onion rings. The rings are crispy on the outside, pretty greasy but not dripping, and boast a full deep-fried onion flavor. In short, for the once or twice a month treat of 50s style diner food, focusing on their famous burgers, this place is at the top of the few local choices!
Always worth the drive after a long day of work and not in the mood to cook at home. Great burgers and fries. Had the onion rings today and I love em - not too much batter and a perfect crunch. They also serve breakfast food and everyone else seems to order a shake with their meals - guess Ill have try next time!
Original type sliders. They use lots of onion and pickle. Crinkle cut french fries. Wait can be long so it is suggested to call 15 minutes ahead so your order will be ready. Food is cooked only after being ordered, no heat lamps and such, so food is fresh and tasty. Have not tried breakfast, and have only ever ordered takeout.
Incredibly tasty 1950s-style burgers. They have other menu items but I have only ever tasted the burgers and the onion rings which are excellent as well. If you want an unhealthy, greasy burger, with standard fixings like grilled onions, mustard and ketchup and pickles, its perfect for after late-night concerts or after bars close. They are open 24/7. I wish I had found out about it when I was in high school because I think its been there over 50 years.
I love sliders, but no, not here. The meat was flavorless. I wouldnt expect great service at a place like this, so I am not penalizing them for that, but you should not expect it either. Staff were on their cell phones the entire time we were there, and it was difficult to get their attention.
Some times you just need a one or two of these hamburgers, a plate of fries, and a chocolate shake. Fine, so its not healthy and its not vegan and they dont have 25 different menu items. Not the point, thanks for playing. Also the atmosphere at Greenes is a trip, possibly back in time 😎
Omg, stopped in for a few sliders because I was headed west and didnt want to drop down and over to 9-middlebelt for my fave slider. There is several places like this (white smooth sided building with a closet takeout room). Should have gone to McD rather than here. Its nothing like the others. Meat was a fraction of the bun. Onion amount rivaled the meat. Tasted like they scraped the grill and made it a condiment. And a hefty price. Yikes! Too close to better alternatives.
This is the best place on this planet for comfort food. Perfect combination of onions meat pickles and a steamed bun. Onions are grilled to perfection. Its worth the price of an airline ticket just to go back to Greenes for a few hamburgers that cost less than five bucks. Perfect crinkle cut french fries.
We USED to go to Greenes Hamburgers of Farmington Hills up until we had an issue with the blond waitress (shaped like a duck). She had a large 175 double cheese burgers with everything carry-out order but did not have the brains to subtract from/add to the large order so we didnt have to wait the 45 minutes we waited. She did however give us our pop and french fries within a couple minutes of taking our order. I gave the french fries back and asked her to make hot fries for us when our burgers were ready. After the 30 - 45 minute wait, our burgers were finally ready! She pulled the cold fries I returned off a shelf and gave them to us.We walked out and havent been back!If Greenes ever gets rid of that trailer trash blond, well start going back...Hey Blondie! Quack! Quack!
Loves Greenes have been going there for 20years. Having said that the new cook needs training. We got 4 double burgers that had little chucks of meat that looks like it fell off another burger. Its poor service when it take 25 mins and 4 people at walk in get served before you. Told the waitress about burger n opened up gun she said its always like that. Number 1, no its not # 2 that is a poor response and lost her a tip. Sad to see hipsters and mileniels run this place down its a staple. The shake was good onion rings were good but came out 15 mins prior to our burger...not cool guys.
First time trying this place. The food were subpar. They put way too much onions in their burgers and got my order wrong. The onion rings was ok, nothing special. Their prices is ridiculous for the food they serve. $3+ for small onion rings & $2+ for their cheeseburgers. 7 cheeseburgers and onion rings for $20 is ridiculous when you can get much better tasting burgers and onion rings for less than $15 at Telway on John R & 11 Mile. Dont think ill be coming back here again.
Im going to put it plain and simple if you want a good burger going to Greens is probably in your interest. Hands down way better then other hamburger places in the area plus theyre even more affordable than them. Thats a double bonus win. Theyve been around for a long time for a reason why dont you head there and find out why.
I used to go to the Greenes at the corner of Schaeffer and Seven Mile all the time when I was a kid, in the late 50s and mid-60s. So thrilled to find they had the place on Orchard Lake. Still just as special and totally delicious. Love the normal sized burgers, individually handmade, grilled on top of fresh onions! Yummy!
As a teen, it was the fun, and safe hang out. I have to say they are the best greasy burgers I have ever had. Now my grandchildren ask for Greenes. Its a Farmington land mark! Family from out of town, come in, they drops their bags, and the guys go get several bags of burger, and fries.
I had to go back and rewrite and update my review of this place since I won’t be returning. First time coming to this place was amazing second time I bring my sons dad the burgers were burnt and the doubles looked like singles and he discovered a long hair in his chili.Thanx for the not coming back cocktail Greens.
The last time I was here was in the early 90s. The road is now 5 lanes instead of 2. The scenery along the road is no longer fields, theyve been commercialized into the same view you see everywhere else thats had urban sprawl come along. The only thing that didnt change was the sight of Greenes at the corner and the great burgers and fries they serve. The burgers were just like I remembered. Hot, covered in onions and cheese. I dont get up that way anymore but when I realized where we were gonna be, I had to take the family there. Ill be back the next time we get up there. Hopefully it wont be in another 20+ years.
It is worth visiting just for the interior. I got veggie burgers and the veggie (slider) is just onions (and pickles maybe?) Why dont they call it an onion burger? It was really weird. I thought about it later and I wondered if I was the butt of a late night prank but I dont think so. The woman working warned me it was not an actual veggie burger but I thought maybe they knew what they were doing with just onions. Nope. Not at all. I must say they were awful tasting but I ate them because I was hungry.
Loved this place for years but it has gone way downhill. They cant even produce an edible plate of French fries after two tries. Mostly because the uncaring, surly staff simply doesnt care and it shows. The people who work at Greenes seem to hate their jobs and every patron who walks in.
I lived less than a mile from the original White Hut Hamburgers in W. Springfield MA, so when my husband texted a photo of an identical building near his work I immediately said “ok, when are we going?” Food is also nearly identical (that is to say, delicious), the ambience is straight out of a history book and service was fast and friendly. Get the double if you’re used to modern burgers.
Nobody acknowledged me. Fries were cold and a few even taste as if they were still sort of frozen. Burgers cold. I meant to go to bates but couldn’t remember the name at the time so I called Greene’s thinking it was the same place. Upon realizing I called The wrong place, instead of abandoning my order I decided to just drive to greene’s and pick up my order. I should Have abandoned it, not worth the money.
This maybe your average burger joint but Ive had plenty of good service here and I have to admit everyones pretty nice. One night I came in late at night by myself and there were three drunk guys sitting next to me and they started talking to me and making me feel extremely uncomfortable and I couldnt even finish my food. I then ask the waitress for a box and she then hands me the box saying Thank You and have a good night. I went to open the box and notice a note on the box saying that the bill was on them and have a good night. Afterwards I went out to my car and cried. It literally was the nicest random act of kindness that Ive ever had from someone that didnt even know me. It made me realize that there are still good people on this planet. Ive gone in plenty of times after and never seen her again but Id like to thank her in person. Im hoping she will read this and remember! Thank you for being so kind to a girl who has extreme social anxiety!
Absolutely the worst slider place in the Tri-County area to use the word gross is the only way to describe what myself and sons were served it actually looked like somebody took some stuff off the griddle and smeared It On the Bun there was no meat we ordered two dozen to go and they were all like that I dont know what this place uses for meat but it was pretty nasty theres another word to describe it strongly recommend Anywhere But Here across the street is McDonalds much better
The greasy sliders from this filthy joint are a delight. You wont be able to get the smell of grilled onions off of your hands for awhile after eating them but, honestly, why would you want to? If you live in Farmington this is where you go for your slider fix, or to cheat on your diet -- and where your loyalty should lie.
A token of suburban life, the slider joint. Best place to go after sledding, the bar, church, or just for lunch. The classic Americana diner style counter really makes you feel like youre at home, and the smell of the fries will have you drooling from your car across the street.Dont pass up this hidden gem of hometown life
Nice tasting Burgers. Prices too High for such a small burger. Fries ok. Atmosphere and attitudes come off a bit racist and rude, but its a Landmark Location. Maybe that explains the smell of Go around back and place your order in the air. Things that make you go...Hmmm! I know its not just me.
This place reminds me of the Anthony Bourdain episode when he ate chili mac in Cleveland and called it what it is. Unless you grew up eating this food, dont bother eating here. If you like this type of burger it is great. But where some regional foods are worth the experience, I would take a pass.
Food tasted great. Problem was that we called multiple times with no answer at 10pm on a Monday, only to have the staff reveal (while eating at the counter) that they dont pick up the phone while the owner isnt there. Must be too inconvenient for them to do their job. Management might want to check into this, but hey what do I know
If I could rate this -5stars i would it’s not even a one star. Very rude staff and very unsanitary. The old hag is wearing one glove instead of two. She’s using the hand with the glove to grab raw meat, vegetables, spatula, her Drink, and everything else. Then she uses the left hand (without a glove on) and grabs the bread, and Cheese!! So I go on to tell them and they tell me then don’t eat here and don’t come back! I told them I don’t eat here and I won’t nor will I come back and I wil be reporting the poor sickly conditions there. Everyone that eats there is consuming contaminated food I can see the blood on her cup when she drank from it🤢
Lol. Big chick is definitely rude as hell. Had to tell her my order 3 times cause she was too focused on getting her next meth hit, and still got it wrong. After I told her that it was wrong, but it was ok Ill eat them anyway, she rolled her eyes at me.. crazy.. kids dont do meth, youll end up working here and super bitter about it.

2022-04-08We were just driving by on a road trip and stopped here for lunch. Its an affordable local fast food sort of restaurant. You order at the counter and there is minimal seating but we were able to find 3 seats together. There was also a separate part of the building for takeout, with a separate entrance. We shared burgers, chicken tenders, fries and onion rings, it wasnt gourmet but felt more like real food instead of the super processed stuff at the big chain fast food restaurants. It felt like a local favorite.

2022-03-27First time in over 25 years they got my order wrong! That’s the all time record. I ordered mustard, onions and pickles and no ketchup, the carry out gal even said no ketchup and I said no ketchup. I got ketchup, no mustard. Pretty good record but I’m going to let them know I couldn’t eat them. Still my all time favorite slider restaurant!! Love you gals!

2022-07-20Absolute BEST sliders around. Ive been going here my whole life and there is no one who does burgers better than Greenes! My family has been eating here since it opened in the 1950s. Amazing food, wonderful staff and great prices. When I moved out of town, the first thing I did when I came home was go to get my greasy Greenes! 🍔🍟😊💖💖💖

2022-04-1610 pm snack on a Wednesday night. Pretty tasty burger grilled with onions with the regular toppings added, including pickles. Crinkle cut fries were fresh. Walk up window open, along with some counter stools inside. Burgers outshine the chicken strips.

2022-03-28Good little slider place. Other than sliders only thing Ive ever eaten were Onion Rings and Chicken Tenders. Both were delicious. Convieneant pick up window for carry outs. Also indoor seating.

2022-07-01Some of the better (greasier) sliders you can get in town. Great competition to hunter house. These burgers (in comparison to HH) seemed to have a better meat/bread ratio, a bit more flavor and better grilled onions/pickles. Definitely get your buns toasted. Onion rings were also better than HH, a lighter, maybe cheaper batter, but in all the right greasy, clog your arteries kinda ways. Not a single real complaint other than each meal is a steady murder of your arteries.

2022-01-18Ok food. I think White Castle is tastier and over all cheaper. The amount of meat in my sliders was paper thin and all I tasted was onions.Bland tasting fries out of brown bag completed the meal. Definitely not worth coming back. I experienced the local flare, and it was nothing special.
