Worst bar service I have ever had. (edit per owners request)I dont want to throw any particular person under the bus, so by describing the situation publicly, Im outing them. There were two people working the bar, one has no business behind a bar and the other was very friendly. Im sorry Im not trying to be difficult or prevent you from fixing a problem... and I do understand the need for good help... but other than I felt like a commodity not a customer I cant really help you. I will say that I was looking around in awe when I first walked in, and even the kid at the front was herding me along as opposed to greeting me like a customer. Hard to explain, probably lame on your end right now (sorry) , yet as a lifetime bar tender I was extremely put off by 2/3 employees that I interacted with. Your beer quality has improved, though! I have never visited the brewery, yet have had many exclusives (I know all the reps theyre great guys) and you have even improved upon that, so kudos! Get new bar staff lol (the gal was great ;) )
This is for the Rochester hills location on crooks rd. I’m pretty lenient on companies in terms of writing reviews, being a company owner myself. Having said that, I must post a negative review for this company. They do not provide menus, instead you must scan a QR code and then a menu will pop up on your phone displaying what they serve and pricing. Based on the menu you pick out what you want. However, when you get the bill it is a different higher price then what is displayed on their menu. Scammer companies do this all the time. It may be a small amount but over time it adds up and a lot by the end of the year. So, please be very cautious of this company and many like it.After confronting the waitress about the discrepancy and showing that I was charged higher than what the menu advertises, she simply apologized and said that they haven’t updated the menu. Do not fall for this scam. I told the waitress I wasn’t going to pay for it and asked to speak with a manager. He didn’t approach me with an apology, but rather ignored me altogether. He did adjust the bill, albeit disgruntled.Fellow consumers be careful. Confirm the price of everything and check your bill before you pay.
Kicked us out after 2 hours even though we continued ordering food and drinks. Bartender kicked us out, then got the manager to kick us out: we tried going to the bar and they told us we had to leave. Even one of the bartenders told the manager how ridiculous it was. We were there on business, so we weren’t doing anything obnoxious. Only getting kicked out because of a time limit rule. We came here every weekend and gave them business but will never come back again after the way we were treated. We will take our business elsewhere.Edit to owner: this happened last night 4/28 around 6pm. The female bartender was great and told us how she doesn’t think that’s right and tried talking to the manager. However they kicked us out anyway. We even asked if we could order another beer and food and they said no and proceeded to kick us out.
Amazing beer and whiskey, bourbon. Im amazed by the flavors I have just tasted. I one hundred percent recomend coming in to taste the beer and whiskeys and all of it actually. I came in today and tested some of their whiskeys and bourbon and was blown away. And tried some beer for the hell of it and felt like I have been drinking the wrong stuff my entire life. Two thumbs up from me and smiles all around. This is a good place 🤌
What a great place for a quiet dinner for two or a get together with a group! It was our first time there and man were we impressed! Clean and comfortable with great food and service, Griffin Claw is now officially added to our list of favorites for the area. Even if youre not into craft beer, the food alone is worth stopping by 👍🏻
I came here for Taco Tuesday. I had pretty low expectations because of its a brewery, and I am not a beer drinker. Now saying that I was impressed that they make their vodka, by the way, is fantastic.I tried several of there Tacos. The ground Beef and beyond meat taco and shrimp. They were delicious. Our waitress Megan was pretty awesome as well. She was on point. I had an excellent experience good food great vodka I will be coming back for sure. This place is fantastic.
Wow. I just have to say wow first because this place is incredible. I love the location and the large open restaurant style interior but dont let that fool you, this is 100% a craft brewery at the heart. The beer is incredibly fresh, delicious, and ice cold. I have a severe weakness for Hefeweizen beers and Griffin Claws did not disappoint at all. They hit the mark perfectly. A delicate blend of Bavarian yeast and notes of banana and clove harmoniously blend in your mouth. But thats not all, they have AMAZING bar food as well. I mostly eat plant based meats so they fact that they had an impossible burger that I could sub into any burger was awesome. I had their Nightmare on Eaton burger with ghost peppers and it was absolutely incredible, despite putting me in tears. I already cant wait to come back to Detroit to visit Griffin Claw.
This brewery is a solid choice for a hang out with friends or a relaxed casual date night out. Definitely a solid energetic vibe in the venue with a great drink selection. Portion sizes are very reasonable for their entrees and prices are average for the area and upscale brewery food. However the taste to me wasn’t average brewery food, I was quite full and happy with the fish and chips. Both buddies really enjoyed their chicken burger and salad as well. All three of us were right around $32/$33 after tip for an entree and 2 beers (no appetizers). Have been here several times and will Likely come back sono definitely recommend.
Foods great, beers great, place is great but the kids are horrible last several times I’ve been here kids running around causing problems. I understand it’s family friendly but it’s ridiculous the lack of respect these parents have for other guests allowing the kids to kick rocks climbing on tables and treating a brewery like a playground
Awesome brewery! Delicious food with a diverse menu. A wide selection of in-house brewed beers, ciders, and barleywine. Everything I tried was great and unique. They are doing a great job managing health concerns and the staff was extremely patient and friendly. If you are in the Troy area definitely stop at GCBC!
We had a great time at Griffin Claw today. It was my first time here and the food was top notch and the drinks were spot on! Plenty of food and drink choices for everyone in your party. We got the Mac and cheese bites and chicken sandwich, both were great. The Mac and cheese bites were served with a raspberry sauce which was good but didn’t quite work with the bites. Definitely will be coming back.
My personal FAVORITE beer spot. Very tasty and broad selection of beer, I always look for Griffin Claw brews when Im out drinking. The food has never disappointed, every burger and sandwich is utterly delicious. Just dont count the calories.Seating is arranged in tables which might be off-putting at first, but makes the seating more efficient.
This is hands down my favorite brewery in the state. Griffin Claw has amazing beers that are always on rotation, so it keeps it fresh and exciting with each visit. Their Birmingham location is perfect and I have spent countless sunny days out on the patio with good friends and family. Speaking of which, the staff at GC also do a hell of job making you feel like you are a part of their family as well. Everyone is super fun, attentive, and great at what they do. The food is incredible, they have several TVs so youll never miss a game, and there is also a wonderful selection of liquors as well that they now produce. Go do yourself a favor and pay them a visit! Go now!
Excellent venue with good beer and food within walking distance of downtown Birmingham! Nice laid back brewery where you have to sit yourself on cafeteria style seating. If no tables are available, you can attempt to join other people who have space at their table. They have a large outdoor seating area area as well with heat lamps. As for the beer, very decent and reasonably priced. Their regular selections are pretty good, the El Rojo Red I like in particular. As for the limited releases, I was not a superfan of their Octoberfest, but lemon beer was good as well as the the couple of their higher ABV varieties I tried. The food was very good for the most part, but the burger was not cooked to temp.
The wait was so worth it! Just like any other good place on a Friday night, the wait was long (an hour +). The system they have set up to keep things organized is fanatic though. They will text you when your table is ready. So we took our daughter to a nearby park for a bit to pass the time! Others bought beer and just had a drink while waiting.Anyway, once seated service was fast. The food was fantastic too. You cant go wrong with fries or onion rings. I ordered one, my guy ordered the other and we shared because we can never decide lol! Drinks were strong, food we perfect, service wonderful! Highly recommend.
The food was fine, and the beer was great. But I was very unhappy with the waiter/bartender. Some examples of how we felt he was rude:1. Our group of 5 needed a few minutes to decide what we wanted for drinks, and he replied I already gave you five minutes.2. I asked what sides are available other than fries, which he answered. But someone else asked the same question because she didnt hear me ask or him answer, and he replied I already explained to him, you should have paid attention. Really??If we were to ever return, I hope I dont get served by him again.
The beer selection is pretty large and includes several very good options. They also distill multiple spirits in house, all of which are decent. The atmosphere is of the open communal nature but still feels cozy. The service has always been good and friendly, and the location is nice. The one thing that really stands out to me is the quality of the food. Ive been to a fair share of breweries, and Id have to say the food here is some of the best. One thing to know before hand is that parking can get full, but there is street parking if need be.
If you havent been yet this is the perfect time, ride your bike up...enjoy the outdoor fire pit, corn hole, and some high alcohol content brews. The menu has healthy salads and of course blts and fries. Tip: if you are going on a date or havent been out in awhile go later. Its family friendly during the day, lots of younger families. Another tip: bring some extra dough, they have great merchandise (reasonably priced and good quality). Free parking!
Beer was fantastic! Such a variety, and its not a Titan like founders or bells. The food was good, but I was frankly more focused on the company I had, so I didnt really pay attention. My only complaint is that one of the servers we had was a little odd, I guess? I love sass, but this was different. Hard to say. Its like the server knew that their tip would be higher if they negged a little, idk. Like, there was sarcasm with an inside joke, but I wasnt in the know about the joke is how I felt. It felt odd to me is all.Otherwise, a total dark horse that I would recommend fully.
The bartender was very impolite sometimes and to finish, me and my 2 friends were suggested indirectly to leave because there was a waiting list. We were talking, drinking and having a good time. ....you are here for +2hs and there is a 45min waiting list so if you guys are done I would appreciate you to give the spot up.... It is a nice place, good environment, awesome beer but I didnt have a good time.
I live two blocks away from Griffin. The beers is wonderful and the atmosphere is great. The downside: The food , the food is hit or miss and mostly miss. Salads and burgers are strong but anything else is a coin flip. The cocktails and wine is not potable, Ive tried them all and I didnt like anything.
Honestly, if you havent been here yet you really need to put it at the top of your list. When it comes to food and drink this place puts the magic in magical. The brewed goodies are always top notch. Staple drinks are always excellent but their seasonal and limited runs are equally appealing. The food will also knock your socks off. For me, personally, the not popeyes chicken sandwich is one of their best dishes. The fish and chips make their way to my house quite often also. Give them a try. I do not think youll be sorry.
Was going to a local market and stopped here for lunch....glad we did! Unfortunately, there are not too many place where you order a dark beer flight and actually get dark beers! Sin, Repent, Repeat and Soupy C were fantastic beers! I had the fish and chips and it was delicious! Ridiculous portion and great fries! My wife got the spicy shrimp tacos. There were excellent too! Very happy we stopped in here and will most definitely be back!
Outside dining with good food, excellent service. Indoor dining was well spaced , following CDC distancing. Patio heaters and fire pits were atmospheric. Very enjoyable, also they are serving perch during Lent. If you like craft beer youll love this place. Definitely family friendly.
I love the selection of beers, atmosphere, and the menu. Prior to today we experienced great service. Today, we sat at the bar. The bartenders were incredibly rude and sassy for really no apparent reason. It wasnt until after my fiance pulled out a gold card that thier attitude suddenly changed. Im certain that thier attitude changed because the sight of a gold card meant a larger tip for them [we can hear you when were sitting at the bar, FYI]. I would recommend hiring bartenders that want to actually do thier job instead of just work for tips.
Worst experience ever. Our beer was flat. The tacos were cold and disgusting. The manager and her clan of skinny little girls followed us out to our car after our meal because we didnt put our masks on right away. She told us we better not come back if we dont wear our mask. Well thanks. We will never be back. Horrible beer, horrible service and have never been harassed in that way to the point that I was followed outside by 3 different misfits.
Great place all around. Not the most amazing beer in the world, but their new line of ciders (blackgrass) are fantastic. Got a flight of them and they were all top notch. The food was awesome, atmosphere is great, good music, good service and their social distancing measures were adequate. Highly recommend.
Great local beer with always something new to try and favorite staples that stay. Their food is pretty great too, and even there they have a new weekly special. One of my favorite places to come to in the warm weather to enjoy a beer or a flight (or a skateboard) with friends. And their waitstaff is super friendly and helpful. Highly recommend this place if you can get a seat.Edit: A lot of what I said is only for their winter menu and changes for the nicer summer months.
Really great experience. Attentive service, but not overbearing at all. Food and beer were really good. We had the fried mac and cheese bites and steak bites to start, and I had the fried chicken sandwich which was amazing! One of the best I’ve had. It is a self seating restaurant, so on a busy night it might be tough to find a table, especially if you have a large party. But it’s the worth the wait.
This place absolutely cannot be beat for lunch. Plenty of space good food and GREAT beer!! The staff has always been incredibly considerate. Nights and weekends are a bit of a different beast. It is a popular hang out with a lovely atmosphere, so it may be hard to get seating. Overall, I highly recommend this place.
Solid beer, enjoyable venue, and fantastic desserts! Great food as well. Ive come here a couple times for drinks with friends, and always have a fun time. The beer is good, but my favourite thing is definitely the desserts. Both the stout brownie and the smores sandwich and phenomenal (hence the elevation to 4 stars). The fries are also nicely crispy and tasty.
The Parmesan fries are great, Brussels sprout salad is phenomenal. Great selection of house made spirits. Beer is wonderful. Mr. blue sky for something light and their porters are flavorful. Really like the dark chocolate raspberry seasonal barrel aged beer. Great staff thats helpful! Love this place.
I went with a wedding party for lunch and I couldnt have had a better experience overall for my first time visiting a brewery. I tried an assortment of brews and found two I really enjoyed. The fish and chips was amazing. I would definently return when visiting, as I am from Kentucky.
Overall, not a bad visit. I am not a fan of their famous Raggedy Ass IPA, but the other beer choices are pretty good. I enjoyed Mr. Blue Sky - very light and easy to drink. I wasnt wowed by their food, but the french fries are well seasoned. My friend ordered beer cheese, which you would think a brewery would get right, but the cheese tasted like nothing. Thumbs down on that but otherwise not a bad place to go!
Went there last night with my husband and it was amazing! We were a little intimidated by the community seating and had a hard time seating ourself. As we were heading out the door, the general manager Brendan stopped us, bought us beer and found us a great seat! The beer was delicious! The food was delicious! The service was perfect! So glad we stayed! Definitely try the beer cheese dip appetizer... Its so good it should be a sin! And, the fish and chips were the best I ever had!!
Service was good, food good, prices reasonable. They do not carry non-alcoholic beer, a real pet peeve of mine as I cannot drink alcohol. But DO NOT get ODouls green label if they ever do stock it!!I had the claw burger, medium rare; my husband had the turkey club. Both were quite good and the french fries served with it also hot and tasty.
Damon and everyone at the bar were spectacular as usual. The poorly trained manager was not only clueless, but she was rude as well. If you want your customers to come back, please dont argue with them when they think that you are seating someone too close to them. Appreciate that they are scared of dying. Get a clue and start training these people better.
I dont get to visit very often because I live about 30 minutes away. However, while the beer is excellent, its the food and the atmosphere that stood out on my first visit. I can get beer that rivals theirs closer to home. This visit, I was disappointed to see that my favorite menu items had been removed. So, I can only give four stars. But the food we settled for was expertly prepared and the rest of the experience was outstanding.
Ive eaten here many times now, and Griffin Claw is consistently excellent in food, beer, and service. Some of their beers could challenge the top players in the Michigan craft scene. I recommend their Old Dudes lager for something light and drinkable, and their Haze Force for the recently-popular hazy IPA. Their Mac and cheese is exceptional, as is their Lone Star burger. I recommend sitting at the bar if youre able. The Friday and Saturday bartenders will treat you well!
Best fried pickles in Michigan, but thats about all the good I can say about the food. I ordered the Hangar Steak medium and I recieved it rare. My wife ordered a build your own burger and recieved the wrong bun and no dressing that was ordered. I give 1 star or the pickles and 1 star for the beer which brings us to a 2 out of 5 stars. Best just to buy the beer from the store dont waste your time coming in.
Really nice and busy place. You find your own seats, with long bench seating. Saturday night is a extra busy time. You have to wait at the table for people to finish eating. Some guests are not nice: they will take your waiting seats! Prepare to share the table with other guests. If you are looking for a quiet place to eat this is not for you. Waiters are really good and professional - they take really good care of the guests, which is amazing in such a busy place. FishNchips are the best, with two pieces of fish thinly battered, with really good, crispy French fries. Must try beer flight. Really enjoyed the place.
I really think the cost of the beer is very high. But honestly it is good quality. Ive eaten there a few times and that is also of good quantity but you can get better for lower cost (and isnt so trendy) at other breweries. I understand theu are paying for the Birmingham area and passing it on. The service has always been good (I dont go there when its really crowded), but the open seating does lend to service issues, Ive just never experienced it.
Great brewery, bartenders were really helpful, helped explain the different beers on tap. Their food was also excellent, Id recommend the burgers. To be honest I only had their raggedy ass IPA before going to the brewery, and wasnt a fan. But they had an excellent Belgian on tap that was one of if not the best belgians Ive had.
This place is a favorite, and I love introducing new friends to it. They have amazing drinks from both the brewery and the distillery, and food is always amazing and filling. I always tend to order the fish and chips, and you get two beautifully breaded full filets with some of the best tartar sauce and ranch in the area.
Absolutely disgusted by my recent experience. Real shame that I feel the need to leave a one star rating for an establishment that I was very excited to visit more than once. Food and drink here is fantastic. Atmosphere? Check. Good service? Check. Ability to drink what you want? Negative. A dirty little undocumented secret of this place is that they will routinely cut you off while enjoying your evening. This has happened to me only twice throughout twenty or so times I’ve been here. They literally cut you off and you are not allowed to order any further. Policy is apparently not enforced to any level of consistency and quite frankly makes me wonder how the wait staff decides when and whom to enforce. Spoke to management this last time and explained we’d Uber’d, had only two 14% which were shared amongst three people, and she waived the policy telling us to enjoy ourselves. Great. Appreciate it. But why the embarrassment of being cut off? By the way, both times, I’m the only one cut off while my party members have had exact same beers (male cut off while two females allowed to drink whatever they want). At this point, not willing to pay the premium to drink here when I have to adhere to a random “cut off” policy that their own management can’t explain to any level of detail and are willing to waive once they realize how much money you’re spending.
Great beer, great food, great service! The only reason I am giving 4 stars instead of 5 is you are left on your own for seating. It gets quite stressful when you know you should be next to be seated but you are going to have to fight for it. You are left stalking customers for there seat.
This brewery is awesome!!!But the food on the other hand is off the charts!!! This is the first time I ate there and the special feature was Belgium Chicken and waffles and I can say I had real good chicken and waffles, these were ridiculous. Whole plate was covered in a perfectly seasoned /cooked chicken breasts and had a liberal about of maple syrup on a waffle that did a great job of soaking up the syrup and hot sauce I put on it, needless to say took half of it home.
Great beer, intentionally rude bar staff. Asked for a red after a first beer and received a red wine, honest mistake. First bartender walks off after arguing a red is a wine, second makes excuses then argues I said noir, doesnt sound near red. Bummed I couldnt enjoy the place more but got a great Marzen. ** Response to owners question: 10/22/2020 @ 8:30.
The folks holding down the fort at Griffin Claw are incredibly professional and deserve 5 stars. Even among these uncertain times the staff took extra special care to ensure we were comfortable and happy. Beyond impressed by the young and dedicated staff they have on call and proud to have griffin claw as my go-to neighborhood restaurant.
Disappointed.... we used to go years ago and was good. We usually go to the location in Rochester and is much better. We were expecting at least the same quality. Service was ok, but food not so much. My husband got the claw’s burger with no flavor at all. I asked for the enchiladas and seemed to be from “chipotle or Taco Bell” super salty and a lot of cumin flavor.
I was craving a burger and a beer when my wife found Griffin Claw Brewing not far from where we were. We shared a burger, a salad and 2 drinks and spent nearly $40 but it well worth it. We ordered the Claw Burger which was nothing more than a party, a piece of lettuce and a slice of tomato between a toasted bun...no cheese, no bacon, no exotic sauce...a true basic burger...but what made it outstanding was what went into that patty: a blend of chopped Black Angus, short rib and chuck. The burger was thick, juicy and delicious! We also had the brussel sprout salad which was a creative and tasty mix of arugula, flash fried brussel sprouts, chick peas, dried cherries, crumbled bleu cheese and a peach vinaigrette dressing. I had a pint of Calling Captain Hop which--if you love grapefruit--is a beer you will want to try and my wife had a Claw Rum Punch which she really enjoyed. Overall the staff was very friendly and welcoming. The place is quite large and although busy when we walked in on a Tuesday evening around 7p we got a table immediately. The place is both upscale and casual at the same time: business suits and cargo shorts work well in this the laid back, friendly environment thats also family friendly as well as a great place to bring a date. No reservations required and we will definitely return.
This is one of my favorite breweries around Detroit. The beer is always top-notch. The brewer here is awesome. The food is delightful as well. Prices are OK, what youd expect in Birmingham parking is available but when its busy you may have to find a spot on the street. It gets busy at peak times for sure. The beer garden is awesome, even in cool weather. They have lots of heaters out there.
The food and atmosphere are good at Griffin Claw, however I made the mistake of not reading other reviews prior to our visit. I was planning on having a growler filled after we had finished our dinner, however our server informed us that Griffin Claw refuses to fill any growler that does not have the Griffin Claw logo on it. Ive been to many microbreweries and this is the first and only place that turned down a sale by being petty. Its a shame your ego & image are more important than selling beer to a customer.
Great happy hour spot, communal seating, beautiful outdoor area connected to the main area by a covered patio. Variety of beers, some traditional some experimental. And if craft beer aint your thing, they have house distilled spirits and solid cocktail selection. Full menu of bar food with some fancier twists. Come try it!
I consider myself a Fish & Chips connoisseur and without a shadow of a doubt, the absolute best Fish & Chips w/ home made tartar sauce Ive ever had in my entire life. Im not a beer guy, but the Platinum Blonde was nice and smooth as well. My friend had the shrimp tacos which were pretty damn good too. Great brewery ambiance, encouraged communal seating, but again, that Fish & Chips was absolutely everything.
Went because of high reviews. Great atmosphere and friendly staff. I feel duped however. Mac and cheese was not the best ever. Maybe could have been more creamy so when plate cooled the cheese wasnt like a solid mass. If anyone thinks this M&C is the best you must think kraft is king. Maybe I should have eaten faster?I love breweries and beers of all kinds. I travel a lot for work and I always try local joints. Tried two beers samples before settling on flagship Raggedy Ass. Couldnt get down 1/2 the pint. Maybe it was a bad day for us both. Maybe I was sick and tired from a hard work day. Nonetheless I wont be a repeat customer.
Beer is better than average, but too many sours on the menu. Also, not all dark beers must be Imperials or Bourbon barrels. Good beer over trendy beer, please. Food is getting better. It seems that an effort is being made to upgrade the menu. I continue to be disappointed with the arrogant attitude of this place, though. The service is hit or miss, and the growler policy is ridiculous (you must buy their stainless steel growler). Also, I find it interesting that pint cans at the store end up being cheaper than a growler fill. Still, the location and beer staples keep me coming back, as they are the closest brewpub to me.
I love this place, great food, atmosphere, people, and beer! I work part time for the family that owns the brewery in a different venture. BUT: Griffin Claw refuses to fill growlers they did not sell (Brand). I was trying to fill 2 growlers for an out of town wedding to share the love of good beer, and they refused to fill. Be green, be friendly, and love beer. Change this policy and I will gladly return 5 stars!
Just left with our group of four. Was seated immediately, but sat for an ENTIRE hour waiting to be served. Asked the busboy if he knew who our server might’ve been and he flat out responded no and then walked away. No waters or even greeted, only sat for that long because we were deep in conversation, but it was an awful experience. Wouldn’t recommend.
The food is good. I liked the mac & cheese (though it needs some black pepper added). The beer is also good, however, it is pretty expensive compared to other breweries. Some pints are over $7. If you go to a local store like Papa Joes you can get a 4-pack of tall cans for $8. They need to reduce their prices.
On the plus side, the location is pleasant enough, situated on a not-so-busy street; in the spring and summer with outdoor seating thats particularly welcome. Some of the brews are adventurous, also a plus. That said, most are the usual suspects and nothing particularly special. The worst feature is that the food is atrocious, unless you are a fan of fried...the tell here is that the website dare not even reference the menu.
This is the best brewery on the Earth period. I love the variety of beers they serve here. They are so fresh, it just feels awesome to sip em on a hot summer day. We had a party of around 20 ppl there. They offered top notch service to us. This place has an unique vibe to it. You sit on benches instead of tables, which is all the more the merry for camaraderie. I love Lemonati and Oblivious, so please please try em out. You will not be dissappointed :)Thank you Griffin Claw! You are awesome :)
I had a Trappist ale and a Nightmare on Eton Street burger with beef medium done. Brilliant food. The meat had the perfect amount of softness and flavour. Bread and the fries that come as side were great as well. I also ordered some pickle fries. Amazing must say, since the pickle fries Ive had elsewhere came in huge sizes and were not ergonomic (dont know if this is the right word) to consume. Finally, washed this hot meal down with a pint of Trappist ale which was bloody awesome in taste and flavor. It had the right amount of hop in it.
Most of our visits here have been pretty good, but last night we decided to sit outside and there were RATS running around the dining area. We were fairly disgusted. Had to go back inside to finish our drinks. I hope they fix this problem quickly. No customer should ever have to dine with RATS!!!
Place has great food and drink, but they have this “communal seating” rule where it’s “first come first served”. On a Saturday night this translates to “be as savage as possible to get a table without any kind of line while waiting for the 40-something crowd to feed their 5 kids and occupy a table for 2 hours”. It sucks and the staff does everything possible to not police the situation. Do not come here on a weekend.
I have been to griffin claw maybe 10 times. I have never had a problem. Tonight, we ordered drinks and food. Drinks came just fine. After, 45 mins still no food. We watched as the guy passing out food had about 20 plates in front of him that he struggled to pass out. 30 mins later, still no food. My wife finally allowed us to leave. They paid for our drinks and said sorry that they were busy. The people next to us arrived after us, ordered drinks, ate, and paid their tab before we ever received our food. I dont feel like we really received and appropriate apology. And i most likely will not be back. Friday night ruined.EditHi i love griffin claw and I actually sat at the same table with the same waitress and she did a great job the next time. The only thing i would ask if please consider having a hostess seat guests. It is terrible to stand waiting hawking over people. Also someone new will walk in as a seat opens up and sit down after we have been waiting for an hour. Thanks
Were new to the area and checking different places out and were very underwhelmed by this location. Just okay beer, at least the ones we tried. The wings were undercooked and everything else too salty. For all the good reviews and how busy it was, we were expecting a bit more.
We just had to get up and leave. Very poor Service! We sat down and got our drinks and then we didnt see him for another 20 Minutes. We finally had to get up to pay for our drinks since he wasnt coming back anytime soon for our food order. He claimed that he spilled some drinks on himself but that was not true cause we watched them take orders and serve other tables. Horrible service. Dont recommend!
They only fill their own growlers. This isnt the dark ages, just let me buy your product. Its completely legal to fill growlers provided by customers. The last time I tried was because they said they were trying to comply with MI law but this is untrue. The only thing they need to do is tie a little tag around the handle that has the beer name, the ABV, and where it came from.If you are going to say that you are a small craft brewery, it would be nice if you could help encourage and foster the craft beer scene rather than play like a big brewer with such an obvious price grab.
The customer service was eloquently RUDE!!!!!!!First impressions are surely lasting ones. Looks like the front of the house could indefinitely use some in house clean-up. The staff was unwelcoming, unhelpful, and just overall distastefully unfriendly. Please be mindful that the front of the house represents the entire house! With that said I will never return to this establishment as there are a plethora of businesses that do not shoo there customers away like savage animals. Advice to management go fetch yourself some friendlier and courteous representation. Your customers will surely thank you for it!
Went during peak operating hours. What a mistake. No parking lots available makes this establishment worse then a mall complex... finally get inside and its self seating for some reason? Maybe the hard picnic benches you have to uncomfortably sit upon and clammor out of just to regain your footing in this brewers tightly packed quarters are to blame for this scheme? Wasnt sure if my party was even going to get a table to begin with? You have to seat yourself so you have to be very vigilant in securing a table, as none of the staff could care less, unless you stand in their way for a 20 mins. The staff are all over the place. Very challenging to put in an order. Finally sit down after asking numerous people if they were done eating yet (rude imo) and continue to enjoy their below average fare. Was cut off becuase i bought 6 drinks in 2 hours when in actuality i bought a couple rounds for my mates for his birthday.. i tried to plead my case to management... they could honestly care less(yet again). The short bald manager will honestly have his whole staff affixed to your location just to watch you. Oh yeah btw automatic 10$ gratuity? So no tips i guess? Smh... just to sit on a picnic bench and try to enjoy their subpar brand. No thanks.
Our server forgot about us! Not that we noticed as we had our drinks and had decided not to eat but to chill and talk for a while. So we were not upset in the least but or server when he realized was very upset, with himself! He came over and apologized perfusely! We tried to tell him its okay, were okay but he would have none of that! He went and grabbed his manager who came over and spoke with us. We told her, we saw no fault and were not upset but she insisted we stay and paid for meals which recall we had decided to skip! So, we ate. Over the Top customer service!

2022-04-28I would give 4.5 because the fries were too salty. The rest was good! It was a bit loud with all the kids but this is not a problem for me. The beers are usually good. Had a Pilsner and a Mr Blue Sky. Freshly draft it is way better than out of the can (obviously). My chicken sandwich was very good. Personnel was attentive and polite. Will come again!

2021-08-08The foods and especially burgers are very good and tasty, and drinks are just ok. Service can also be improved. We had to wait a long time to find our server and it took 45 minutes to receive our orders.

2021-07-11So far the beer flight and food have been outstanding. The Lone Star burger was loaded with flavor and cook to a perfect medium. My daughter had the spicy chicken sandwich which balanced the heat spot on. Service was great and the beer selection was overwhelming, but explained very well. I would recommend this restaurant if you are in the area. Will be back.

2021-08-24The food and service here are 10/10. We got the Mac n cheese bites, truffle fries, burger and chicken sandwich. The fries were bug enough to be their own meal and were the best truffle fries I’ve ever had. Our server was so kind and helpful. The ambience is great for drinks with friends or for the family. Great beer selection too.

2021-03-11The place is nice and open. We were spaced out from everyone and the had the patio open which helped. The staff was nice and friendly as well. We ordered the chili which was good but it was cold unfortunately. We also got wings and a chicken sandwich which were tasty. The best part of the meal thou were the pretzels I could eat like 10 of them they are delish and they were fresh. Will for sure go back as it’s a nice place to hangout and it’s close by.

2021-10-16Food was absolutely delicious. Everyone at our table was satisfied with their meals and their drinks. I appreciated the amount of hard ciders they offer and the only negative thing I can say is that my burger was slightly overcooked from medium to medium well.
