I have adopted 2 dogs from this organization and they are wonderful, kind and caring people. They provide so much to the animals in their care it is amazing. They post lost pets to be returned to their owners and truly look out for the animals. I cannot believe the people who made negative posts! They do in depth checks to make sure the animal goes to the right home which makes a huge difference
Seems they dont answer phone before 11 even though they open at 10Went to web site and found just the dog I was looking for. I when I finally got them on the phone was when they told me the dog had a broken jaw. I ask them about other dogs and found they had another one that would be a good fit. I told them I had already sent in the application and wanted to complete the adoption as fast as possible. They advised they would contact our vet and the app. needed to be reviewed, I incated thats fine and stressed the fact that I was ready to adopt asap. Neither I nor my vet ever heard from them again
We have adopted two dogs, and fostered over 12 dogs so far. When time available, we volunteer for GPAAS. The staff truly cares about their work, and are fully dedicated to provide best homes for their tenants. There will be some cases, callers may not get quick responses or receive short and concise answers. Filling up paperwork is the first step, rest can be meet and greet or attend adoption days. There are many good people want to adopt a pet, but few are bad or un -prepared individuals. This organization want to be 100% confident and certain that pets find a good home. Overall, we are very lucky and fortunate have GPAAS close to our home, and working with greatest animal lovers.
I called for help and info regarding a kitten that my daughter found. Gpaas has an ok rep here. BUT i was turned away without so much as a what to do with it-food, needs, litter, no information at all to help with the cat. I was treated rudely. I cannot believe I called a rescue for help and I was basically told not our problem. I dont know enough about cats and while I wait for a vet to call me back or the animal control, I couldnt even get basic info from a RESCUE. WTH? So rude. I will let all the people I know, know how they may act like they care, it was pretty clear the woman who answered today DIDNT. unreal. Corrine, there should at least have been a website or a sheet of paper to help people get started. Terrible terrible person on the cut me off when I was asking questions. Call the city was all i was told repeatedly. Well I did, and they cant help me either. so THANKS FOR NOTHING! RUDE RUDE and cold uncaring, why couldnt I get some basic info? I guess the kitten doesnt make enough $ for you to want to devote a few minutes. Great way to run a rescue, miss executive. Nice. I am trying to keep what appears to be a stray kitten off the street and I couldnt even get a food or litter recommendation from your staff. Grossly unprofessional. You should know information is the main way to get people to adopt not buy, and all i got was call the city. Terrible. Good Luck to the animals you have there, if this is what they get.
I went last weekend to an adoption event. I wanted to adopt Bella- a cat- was not allowed to hold Bella at all. Mary did not want me to inquire on Bella; directed me to another cat which i was not interested in. Was told Bella was one year old. Now I was told on the phone later this week Bella is 1.5 years old, that she needed to be adopted with another cat : I was not allowed to say I would do this but again redirected to another cat I didn’t want. I believe the new name for this agency should be Hitler’s Dictatorship Agency. I believe this agency is devious, Mary is controlling and does not want to let the cats be adopted and Ioved. No compassion for pet owners who just lost their pet and are grieving. Mary treats people like they are dirt .I cried all. Day
There are a lot of adoption groups around that seem to be more about the people than the animals. Not this one. I found the folks at the Grosse Pointe Animal Adoption Society to be kind and caring and very passionate about the animals. Definitely a place to adopt from.

2022-07-02I Adopted the sweetest little dog, shes just so adorable and were starting to get to know each other. Im learning all are silent clues she has for everything. Shes sporting a new bandana today, her name is Tan, but Im in the process of renaming her to Foxy, she just looks like one, not the name Tan that she came with.

2020-10-20My dog ran off and was taken to GPA. What I took from my experience is THEY PUT THE ANIMALS ABOVE ALL. I respect the commitment and loyalty to Exactly what they are. So if you find yourself rescuing your own pet from them ....Count your blessings. Buck up the FEES and pay it forward. That Lady is a champion. And so is the helpers.
