Comment: DO NOT LIVE HERE unless you want to deal with an active termite infestation and unprofessional management. We lived here for 2 years and upon move out, despite requesting a move out inspection and being rightfully owed one under California Civil Code, management refused to perform an inspection or even attempt to schedule one. They are now taking our entire $600 deposit and charging us for additional issues that they never gave us the opportunity to fix ourselves prior to move out. This is 100% illegal. Also, the fact that they haven’t fumigated Building 6 despite knowledge of multiple units being infested with termites deserves being reported to the local health department. Best of luck if you live here, but if you’re smart, you’ll look elsewhere.

Comment: One of the few place that isnt falling apart for under 3k a month.I think Ive look at enough apartments around Mountain View and Sunnyvale to say that most 1b1b under 3k either have slanted floor or are infested with mold, and this place is actually decent. Its crazy that this is the standard Im holding for the apartments in peninsula.Maintenance are really fast to fix the broken appliance. The location is good. Just avoid going to the crossroad during rush hour. The amenities are okay. The gym is underwhelming, and there isnt enough bike storages. However, they planted trees and bushes everywhere, making the place very pleasant to go around. And they have plenty of guest parking here, so its quite nice.In terms of safety, Ive seen bikes stolen here, but Ive not seen cars broken into, or miss a wheel. Also, none of my packages got stolen, and the mailbox has never been pried open. This place isnt the safest, but also far from worst. (Most places arent safe in Sunnyvale, and people should be really careful in general.)Move out fee is quite expensive, but its Bay Area, so I guess it is what it is. At least they didnt charge me to replace the world.

Comment: Edit: responding to Sares Regis response. Your community manager gave inadequate clarification with incorrect invoice. Upon inquiring about the mismatched invoices received in mail and email, I havent heard back from her. The cleaning and painting receipts dont have any contact number for the cleaners, and the carpet replacement proof seems inadequate. Ive raised this concern with a lawyer and you can expect to hear from them. Charging tenants for regular wear and tear is illegal.Best to avoid if you want peace of mind. The location is central from many department stores, parks and offices, and the complex itself is very green & has great amenities like the gym & pool. Huge shout out to Manny & Noah from the maintenance team who tirelessly solved over 18 tickets raised in our short time here.Thats the only pros of living here. In our stay here we have had over 18 maintenance tickets for issues spanning the appliances (washing machine, dryer, fridge, dishwasher), poor quality blinds and multiple water issues/leakages from the bathroom. Its not been a very stress-free and peaceful stay, since the quality of the appliances & products are very questionable. Cherry on the top is the lack of empathy and poor communication extended by the management team.To add to this list1) there are countless water shutoffs and maintenance work across the complex2) my bike has been stolen from right outside my door (leaving it out for less than an hour!)3) bottom floor patio gets dirt from top floor patios, and there are rules against putting patio cover4) people smoking inside this smoke free property5) stray animals roaming free (and in our case a very aggressive cat was jumping outside our apartment and almost attacked us - thank you to the team for helping out)To sum up, the complex is great and might appear new, but the quality of apartments is highly questionable.Additionally, as expected the society charges exorbitant move out fees. They send the move out charges without proof or entire set of invoices after 9 days and give a semi aggressive letter that if the charges arent paid in 14 days after move out (in effect 5 days from receipt of letter) they send the letter to a recovery company.

Comment: The location is great. The apartment is decent. The maintenance is good. Has a great pool area and jacuzzi.Maintenance requests are completed on time and the staff on this team are great. The management team however is not the best. Some of them are good but some are not the friendliest people. The manager is the hardest one.The parking is managed by a different company so reaching out to the other company for parking problems is not easy.I never got an email to explain why there was construction work going on below my apartment for 4 days. Had to sit through all the rumbling and noise since it was unpalnned. They have frequent water shut offs and packages get stolen/lost and management didnt help at all.

Comment: LACK OF AMENITIESBike Room:Despite being mentioned as an available amenity in previous ansver, there is no designated bike room in Grove apartments.Clubhouse Access:Residents have encountered difficulties in utilizing the clubhouse due to inconsistent working hours. It appears that there is uncertainty about when the clubhouse is open or closed.BBQ Area:A further issue arises from the restricted accessibility of grilling facilities within the expansive apartment complex. With only one grill available, even in the context of our large community, residents face challenges. Additionally, there have been instances when the grill experienced malfunctions or was completely non-functional during certain periods.

Comment: NOT SAFEI am writing this Google review to express my concerns about the security situation at Grove Apartment in Sunnyvale. I feel its essential to highlight a recurring issue that has significantly impacted my experience.Unfortunately, my bikes have been stolen four times during my residency, despite taking what I believed were adequate precautions. These incidents have not only resulted in financial losses but have also left me feeling uneasy about the safety of the community.I acknowledge that security challenges can be complex, however, it is crucial for residents to feel secure in their living spaces, and the repeated bike thefts have eroded that sense of security for me.

Comment: Money LeachersI lived in the Grove apartments for almost 2 years, and the living experience had been pleasant. But the moving-out was extremely disappointing that I feel compelled to share. My primary concern revolves around their handling of financial matters, particularly regarding the security deposit and additional charges.According to the final move-out statement provided by the Grove apartment, I should be expected very small amount of my remaining deposit money back. But after a long wait time, the only thing I received was a debt letter from a debt collector. The letter stated that I owed money to the Grove apartment.Without any prior communication or warning, Grove apartments sent alleged charges to a debt collector. This action was not only surprising but also deeply concerning as it impacts my financial credibility.I also tried to contact Grove apartments after the debt letter but the promised callback never came and no one replied to my email either.I chose Grove apartments expecting a professional and ethical approach to tenancy matters. However, this experience has been unsettling and has caused unnecessary stress and financial strain. I hope my experience serves as a caution to potential future residents to be vigilant about their dealings with Grove apartments.

Comment: Nice and quiet neighbourhood with lot of facilities around. The rent is too high for the small apartment space. Due to lot of trees in the community, you might not have enough sunlight inside your house if thats one of your preferences. Be careful while choosing a lower level apartment, you might see slugs and other small creeping insects in your patio.

Comment: Updating since it’s been few years. The Grove is a nice apartment but right now complete renovation is going on. The pool, gym are closed, has been closed for the past 5 months. With the loud noise its tough to be at home in the daytime. Though we asked about the renovation completion before we moved in, we have been misinformed. Please add in a buffer of 7-8 months to what the leasing office says, as they are running behind the completion schedule. Also there are trucks and construction materials lying around everywhere. Please avoid for the next 10 months or so.

Comment: We stayed here for 8 months and our experience was really good contrary what some reviews might suggest. The apartments community was very well maintained and has lots of trees surrounding the fencing. The apartments are newly renovated and are in close proximity to Sunnyvale and Mountain View downtowns, Close to many good restaurants and grocery stories. The maintenance team did an amazing job during our stay, addressed all our issues right away. Management ( jasmine/ Jennifer / Kevin) has been wonderful, Always helpful and considerate.

Comment: Staying here from last 3 years. Very peaceful and clean community. Landscaping is done very frequently and service repair tickets are resolved very quickly. There is no construction or much of train noise as mentioned in any comments. Only drawback is the lack of air conditioning in most apartments since it gets pretty hot in summer.

Comment: *** please read the review and then decide to come to this complex dont waste your money***Very unprofessional management, takes advantage of your situation and charges more. And management is really greedy for the money never consider you situation during covid or family emergency and charges you more even tho the same community have less rent in other units, I never recommend to join this community. Management is really bad, never respond on time and force to move out of sign lease for more price. These people only respond to reviews posted on google, and talk to you very nicely, but never respond or very stubborn on the pricing, 7 years in bay area and this is the only community which has very bad management. Where all communities are flexible in price, This community is like pay the money or move to a different unit with less price. I explained the situation but, the management hung phone on my face, I have no choice but pay more. The classic answer i got from management was, I know because of covid you dont want to change the unit so we are charging more. please before deciding to come to this complex read the reviewsSuperrude management 🤬🤬

Comment: PLEASE DO NOT MOVE IN HERE or YOU WILL REGRET!1. The apartment looks pretty from the outside. But it is very old inside. The apartment is very cold in winter and very hot in summer even you turn A/C or heater on. So you will spend a lot of money for utilities.2. When I first move in, the carpet was very old and the stove glass top was not new. It was my mistake that I didn’t mention to them and take a picture of them (Please take a picture or mention to them if there is any damage or issue otherwise you will be charged to replace their deprecated items). I have lived here for 1 year and when I move out they charged me to replace the carpet and the stove glass top.

Comment: I wish I can give their management staff 0 star rating.Unit 406, Incorrect Moveout charges for replacing the stovetop. The stovetop was never replaced. I have emailed a video showing that the original stovetop was just cleaned and never replaced. Sent 3-4 more followup emails and never heard back from the leasing office. Poor management, inconsiderate leasing office staff and the manager. They just tell you, we will send it to collection and you can work with them. Work with collection on what? This is just threatening someone and adding stress in their lives.Hey I sent you proof that this part did not require replacement and you have ignored all the emails.

Comment: Great community to live in and the maintenance staff is very friendly. These guys really help you out and value you as a resident. The open parking spots are very tiny. Other residents keep scratching / bumping into your car and dont inform you.My major problem with Grove is with the move out experience. They add unnecessary move-out charges on my account. Charged me for deep cleaning services (which is again okay), but they also put some exorbitant charges for replacing the stovetop in the kitchen (not legit charges). I even had a friend go to my apartment and send me a video of the house after cleaning, the stovetop was never replaced. But the leasing office folks dont work with you to settle those charges and remove them. After several emails, they just want to send these charges to collection. Anyways, we will see how that goes. I am definitely not paying fake charges.

Comment: Do NOT rent here. I lived here in 2017 and moved out after a year. They said they will email me the final bill after I moved out. They never did and instead sent the bill to a debt collection agency, which was negatively affecting my credit score without my knowledge. After they had already sent the bill to the collection agency, they finally sent me the bill directly. They still refuse to claim responsibility or work with the collection agency or the credit bureau to resolve this issue. I have never seen this kind of business practice. Stay away from this property and any other properties owned by Sares Regis.

Comment: Great Location but everything else - NOT SO GREAT!!Safety -NOT SAFE - the gates are easily accessible to anyone since they are usually broken or you can just put your hand through one of the grills and open the gate. We had our brand new bike stolen from the bike rack in month 3 of living here. It was locked and secured but the robbers were able to cut through the lock and steal it. I have heard multiple reports of bikes getting stolen, would advice to park it inside home.Management -BAD - Keeps changing which is frustrating since there is no relationship and trust that can be built.NOT HELPFUL - Management was not able to help us in any way when our bike was stolen and asked us to deal with it ourselves. Took no accountability on how someone was able to enter the premises and why gates work sometimes and sometimes they are wide open. Also forget about your deposit - theyll always find a way to not give back any of your deposit which is true for most apartment complexes but is pretty bad here.Community -Well maintained, okay amenities but trash is usually an issue where its thrown outside the bins in one of many trash collection ares inside the community. It smells bad, especially if your apt is opposite one of the many big trash collection areas.Maintenance -BAD - Takes multiple emails for them to come fix issues which are not emergency since they think tenants will deal with it. Our closet door was broken and it took them weeks to fix it, we literally took it out and kept it aside. Our garbage disposal was broken and took them a month to fix it and we had to plunge it everytime we did our dishes.Apartment -The units are good and newly renovated ones are better. No AC but that shouldnt matter much.Parking -Very limited spots for guest and problem if you also have two cars! Id advice not throwing a party or asking your guests to uber.Overall -If you are someone who would not have to deal with management then you can survive here for a year or two but in other cases you will suffer. We stayed here for one year and had a pleasant experience initially butthis place is not worth the money they charge you. You can find better apartments for cheaper and definitely better management.

Comment: We lived in the Grove Garden Apartment for 1 year+ before moving out recently. It has been a very pleasant living experience for us.This place is conveniently located, with easy access to central expressway, 237, and 101.The community is quiet and well maintained. We made only one service request throughout the 1 year+ when we moved it and it was fast and easy, so no complain about the amenities and the services. There were some low rating reviews complaining about the constructions. At the time we moved in, most of the constructions seem to have completed, so luckily we were not affected by it at all. It was a quiet and newly renovated community throughout our stay.

Comment: Unresponsive staff although they are nice when you talk to them in person. Responding emails after several times of repeating the same questions and after several days. Here I’m only listing the problems after signing the lease, this is just half of my complaint, the other half is the difficulty to sign the lease, which I’m too lazy to include here.Move in experience.1. I was triple confirmed by Annalyse Servin that my apartment would be move-in ready and the paint on the cabinet would be taken care of before move in date.2. At the move in date, 1 key out of 4 is not prepared, 2 keys of the 3 prepared are wrong, the only correct key was for the mailbox.3. At the move in date, the mentioned cabinet paint was not fixed, the bath shower was not functional properly, the dishwasher is leaking water (even though it looks new). Check my photos.4. Shower function is fixed on the 4th day of move in after several times of reminding including visiting leasing office in person. But still remaining some unfinished shower related work (check my phones).5. Even after submitting emergency request and several times of reminding through emails, the paint and dishwasher have not been fixed until now (7th day after move in). I’ll keep counting the days.- Update: On the 11th day, dishwasher has been fixed after multiple times of reminding.6. Called emergency phone number regarding dishwasher leaking, but no one answers the phone.- Update: see item 5.7. I was confirmed by Annalyse Servin that the parking gate remote would be provided on the day of move in, but we still do not receive the remote until now (7th day after move in). They said the system was not working on the day of move in, but why not have the remote prepared earlier? Why hasn’t the system been fixed until now (7th day after move in)? Why hasn’t the leasing office respond our multiple emails?- Update: On the 11th day and after four times reminding leasing office, we received only 1 remote. Still waiting for another one.-Update: the 2nd key was promised to be delivered by end of 12th day, but only after another reminding on the 13th day, we were able to receive it on about 6pm I that day.8. I was provided with the registration code (resident ID) for community online portal (my wife already has her login setup when signing the lease), but their online portal system cannot accept my registration and always says my input is not correct.- Update: On the 8th day, online portal has been set up after complaining to leasing office, they required a different email of mine to register.9. Check the photos of washer machine, would you call it cleaned? Would you call it move in ready?Question remains:1. When can they get all these solved?2. Are we gonna get any compensation for this experience? Please stay tuned.Update: By the end of 13th day, after numerous email and in person reminder, they have fixed the reported stuff, and provided all missing items, no compensation so far.

Comment: Stay away from Viri in the leasing office. I tried to help my girlfriend move in - she attempted to over charge my girlfriend and her roommate for over $100 for the initial move-in payment. Then she tried to collect another $100 for parking passes only to be corrected by a more senior team member that the policy “just changed.” Then she had the gall to chew me out for asking about where all of these random new costs were originating from, telling me “not to come in here and tell her how to do her job.” So be very careful of predatory behavior from the leasing office here. Do not give them the benefit of the doubt.Awful customer experience. I’m struggling to remember the last time I’ve encountered someone as nasty as Viri. Should honestly be reported to the police for potential fraudulent activity. Pathetic.

Comment: Do NOT stay here unless you want an overpriced storage room that you cant live in AND you dont have a car.If you really want an idea, go to community after working hours and ask any resident walking around how it REALLY IS..GF stayed here for 2 years. Moved out 1 month ago, still hasnt gotten back her full deposit. Ive lived in the area for 20+ years and it pains me to see such shoddy management charging $$$.- They scratched HER CAR! While redone concrete on the pavement, they scraped her paint out!! Management refused any responsibility!- Parking is YUGE problem. 2 bedroom, but only 1 car park. No empty slots after 7- Construction all the time. Dust, noise. INTRUSIVE!! GF could never WFH!! Because its not possible to stay at home.- Unaccommodating staff: They fire all the good staff (like Justin). The new staff are paper pushers who find reasons to send you back out the door. Even when you say trash containers are missing, they say, uhuh. 3-4 very rude managers in the last 2 years..- Whole day water cutoff regularly (1-2 times a month).- No facilities: No gym, no pool, no walkways. One time even pavement to the unit was blocked overnight (had to jump over concrete). Many pavements are not safe to walk on.Almost impressive to see such a big management company doing such a poor job!

Comment: I enjoyed my 4 years at the Grove Garden apartments. It is a quiet, pleasant community and I had few problems (a few minor maintenance issues that were solved quickly and efficiently). It is conveniently located for the Caltrain and downtown Sunnyvale (15 minutes walk)There is some renovation work to improve the look and feel of the community has been going on for 6 months as I left, but this is a minimal inconvenience. Once this is finished parking availability for second cars should be a lot better. The new windows and patio doors are much better and have improved soundproofing.I never had any issues with the Rental office, and Justin and the team in there were always friendly and happy to help.I was also surprised to get back more than I thought I would from my rental deposit after 4 years of wear and tear.

Comment: My family and I lived here for over 10 years and they screwed us in the end. I had a family member get sick which forced us to relocate. We had just signed a new lease before all this happened when we explained what was going on they vacated the new lease but still wanted the July rent payment we needed that money to move. There was no way we could afford to move and still give them the rent too.We said we would pay them at the end of August we were going to be gone before then anyway. They were unwilling to wait and responded with three day pay or quit notice and eventually proceeded to eviction.Never mind we never gave then any sort of problems during our entire residency there. Long term tenancy and loyalty clearly meant nothing in the grand scheme of things. They would rather service their precious bottom line all for an apartment that is no where near worth three thousand dollars a month. Good riddance to that shoe box.

I have to stay at my friends apartment several night to let the odor out of my room! But the leasing office doesnt give me any compensation.

Comment: Decent but a bit outdated apartment complex in a great location. Access to highway network (via Central Expressway) and downtown Mountain View and Sunnyvale (via Evelyn Ave) is a breeze.

Comment: I moved in July 2012 and am currently still here. This staff is professional and very quick to deal with any maintenance concerns. The management takes pride in attending to the property. Every Monday they mow the lawn and blow the leaves hedges etc.The units are the perfect layout. I live in a 650sqft one, and it was bigger then most of the other 700-800 sqft ones I saw at other properties. There is building hot water, so you never run out running a bath or taking an extended shower. The appliances are functional, nothing special. However there is a patio (i live on the bottom) with a giant storage space (3.5 wide by 8 ft approx).Other users complain how loud the neighbors are but I honestly dont really notice it that much. When all windows and doors are shut, I rarely hear things beyond someone watching a movie with deep bass. However, I like to sleep with my windows open for a breeze and it is relatively quiet but I sleep with fan and it drowns everything out.Dont let the location fool you, though it is next to a trailer park, the trailers are 450k+. There is a fence and a hedge between the park and the complex. It is close to central expressway, 237, and 85. Its perfect for a commute to pretty much anywhere the bay has to offer. The only downside is the on-site laundry is a joke. They are decently priced, but the capacity is barely bigger then your sink. I take my laundry to my in-laws.

Comment: Apartment is in a nice area but living experience here isnt that pleasant. Walls between the rooms are so thin that I can hear the other people taking all the time. Finding a parking lot after 7.30 in the evening is really difficult.
