My go to soft served Ice cream place in the warmer months. They are in a great location and easy to walk to from the nearby neighborhoods. The service is fast, prices fair, and ice cream tasty. They have all the usual favorites and if you are daring ask for something from the graveyard. They are cash only so hit the ATM before coming. parking is limited, but you can park at the rec center and walk from there easily.
Slow window service, but ice cream was good. Today service was much quicker as it was early afternoon on a Thursday.
This is my favorite ice cream place. The prices are fair and the Ive cream is good. The only downside is the limited parking, but I usually dont have a problem.
Soft serve ice cream and several flavors of Dole Whip available. They make sundaes and shapes and flurries and slashes. A Livonia classic. You will always find a line here on a hot day.
Deliciously place I assume its local but it was the best ice cream I had in a while .P.S : when I went it was cash only kind of a bummer but maybe their machine was down ?_shrug_
Good to see Mom there last night... Teaching the new kids how to run the place, an annual tradition!The only place to get a Shake-A-Sundae... No Im not going to tell you what it is, just go there and order one, you wont be disappointed!!😋
They up charge for everything. Ordered a hot fudge sundae. All they put is hot fudge. No whipped cream. No cherry. Thats not a sundae if you charge for everything separately. Other than that they are good. Definitely used to be better though.

I had never been to the Handy Dip before. Although there was no line and I walked right up to the counter the kid behind the counter had to keep confirming my order. Another kid making the sundaes kept confirming everyones ice cream again and again. When my order came it was still wrong but didnt discover it until I got home. Not sure I will go back as their staff is flaky and there are other ice cream shops in the area that do a better job
Great little ice cream shop, always signals the coming of warmer days when it opens for the season. Really hits the spot on a warm summer night. Must have cash on hand when you go.
I love that they have baby sized ice cream. Perfect for toddlers! Their flurries are fantastic!! Particularly the strawberry shortcake flurry. Theres almost always a line in the summer, but it always moves quickly.
Nice to see where my boyfriend used you get ice cream all the time, but the employees must have been new because neither of our flurries were mixed very well. All in all, nice place, good ice cream, benches to sit on... Solid okay.

Great place for ice cream but remember its CASH ONLY. Will get busier in the summer but they keep the line moving. Lots of options compared to your chain ice cream places. Decent prices too. Better to support your local places like this than the big chains. We will be back.
We have visited the HDD DBarn for over 25 years. No idea if same ownership, but weve never had a Bad experience. Note that it can be very busy at times & actual seating (outdoors only) is limited, as is parking. Usually end up in a neighboring business lot on weekends.
It was 95° today and it was soooo nice to see Han-D-Dip....we had ice cream cones and they were delicious. A nice cool treat!🙂❤
Ice cream was good. I had the Strawberry shortcake flurry and it had real strawberries. The frozen banana my daughter got was hand dipped and so yummy. Everything was reasonably priced. I was dissapointed to find they didnt serve hard ice cream. Also, they only accept cash. Overall, a good experience. We will be back.

One of my favorite ice cream places. I used to go here as a kid around Spree time every year. Now I take my kids! Its soft serve only but theyve got as many options as Dairy Queen if not more.
Amazing ice cream with hundreds of combinations. Its been Livonias local spot for many years and they always live up to their name. I did notice they cleaned up the back of the restaurant this year, which was far more pleasing to the eye. Great service, great people, great food.
Livonia doesnt have much in the way of institutions. Han-D-Dip is one of the Big Two. Yes, its just an ice cream stand. But its great!

Great place, first time here should of gotten the monster size upside down banana split in a cup but only got the regular. Still was great but hulk size is the way I would suggest, unless your not so hungry.
Rated it only 3 stars just because my experience was with very simple cone and shake order. It was a hot day and it turned messy. Had to constantly ask for napkins. It is a cute ice cream stand in town. I think you need to be local to understand what is on the menu, which is a bunch of papers or cards attached to the windows.
Really good ice cream. I usually get some type of sundae and their servings are generous. I used to work down the street so I came often thru the summer. I dont get to frequent the place too often as I changed jobs but still try to come here when I can
This place serves really terrific ice cream for so much less than you would expect. The service is friendly and fast and everything Ive ever had there has been great and well made. Its cash only, so make sure you have cash on hand!
Ive gone to the Han-D-Dip my entire life. You get a good amount of ice cream for your money, but you better have cash because cards arent accepted. I love that they do doggy dishes of ice cream and that they have dairy free options as well. Tables are always clean.
They have great softserve ice cream from cones and sundaes to flurrys. The best thing is you can customize your treats however you like with nuts or sprinkles or cherries on top. These extra toppings are nominally priced at 40 or 50 cents each. Well worth it in my book. Enjoy!

We come to handy dip 2-3 times a week. The last few times a young guy has waited on us, VERY DISAPPOINTED!He messed up our order both times, (5 items) and the young Asian girl took our money then processed to make my husbands banana split with the same DIRTY HANDS!! I was so disgusted the way she did it, it was so ridiculous! There was not enough ice cream in the container to support the toppings and it leaked all over the car! Very disappointed!! I cant see going back!! They need better training here!!
Han-D-Dip Dairy Barn has been a Livonia tradition for as long as I can remember. I came here as a young boy for summer evening treats, and I bring my own family here for dessert.
Good ice cream. Fair prices. Has a nice picnic table area that is pretty clean for an ice cream place. Teen order takers can be moody but they are teens so....
Really only wish they had better parking and maybe move the table on the west side away from the dumpster.

We searched Hand Dipped Icecream near me and this place came up. Needless to say drove 20 minutes for a complete let down, rating purely based on the fact its name is about as misleading as it gets. Lol. Promptly left in frustration.
This place stays packed with lots of people in line. Great ice cream. They are pretty quick at getting people through the line. There needs to be more seating outside though.
They have a rotating stock of dole whip which is gluten, corn, and dairy free! Being a person with many allergies its great to be able to have a snack with my family. Park next door though. The parking is non-existant.

Good ice cream and prices are not cheap but reasonable. Parking is at a premium and service seems a little slow but if youre in a hurry, maybe you shouldnt be stopping for ice cream to start with.

2022-05-23The ice cream was great! Theyve got a wide variety of flavors for sundaes, flurries, etc. Theres something for everyone. The service was relatively quick for the number of people working. They only take cash, though. So, if you dont have cash available, youll need to find somewhere else for ice cream. The tables probably need to be cleaned more often. There was only one clean one that I saw.

My family and all of my friends families have been enjoying the wonderfulness that hand-d-dip dairy barn has been providing us all for sooooo many years!! So if you are in the area and youre looking for any kind of soft serve delight, you need to stop in and try it out!

2022-06-16I went there the other night and probably waited 30-40 minutes in line. I was glad to see it was so busy but it was such a long wait! The soft serve was good, but my sprinkles really grossed me out after I finished eating, when I discovered I had a black waxy residue in my mouth that took me quite some time to get out. I love sprinkles and have never had this experience anywhere else. I wont be back, at least not for anything with sprinkles!

2022-05-25I was there last night. I asked for an extra cup of sprinkles before I paid, I was given very little in a cup. I asked if they could add more. I was told our manager is very strict about how much we give. I then said Ill pay for more, I just needed the extra sprinkles. He said my manager wont let us. I would not have ordered what I did if I knew that wasnt allowed. Not a huge deal but wondering why they wouldnt let me pay more for more sprinkles. I didnt want it for free.

2022-07-11This was the 1st time Ive been here in about 20 years or so. I used to live less than a mile away and Han-D-Dip has always been a good place to go. Lots of items on the menu and quick service, fair prices, too.

2022-05-22Delicious treats at a good price. Parking available after hours at the building next door or the neighboring lot behind the barn. Got a show with my dessert as there was a fistfight in the parking lot

2022-06-09Do not accept any credit cards of any type. Confusion on sizing of cups. At the time the windows were covered with newspapers. There was nothing to to let you know what they had to order. Ice cream was good.
