2021-10-10We went to Hanka on a beautiful fall day and it was like transporting back in time. The grounds were beautiful and the volunteer guides were friendly and incredibly knowledgeable...the time spent with them was really special. All ages can have fun here! We spent about one and a half hours touring this place. Its free, but after a guided tour, youll probably find yourself wanting to make a donation to keep the memory of this gem alive.

2019-06-30The day we visited it wasnt open but you could still walk around and see everything thats there. It was pretty impressive but would like to go back when the people are there who demonstrate, educate and be able to go inside some of the other buildings that were closed.

2021-09-12Awesome New Finland experience. Oscar, the guide who greeted us, is a lifelong local, who lived his life a mile from the museum. As a Finish-American, he also shared cultural and historical info. around community, construction, farming, logging and mining. He also bought to life what it was like for immigrants to live here in the early 1900s.

2017-10-11This place is a gem! Our tour guide Oscar was top notch. He was friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. This homestead is worth visiting to see and learn about what it was like in the early days of the area. The buildings have been restored to great shape. Well worth the drive of the main road back to visit.

2019-08-03Great place! A piece of Finnish culture and farming. The guide was a great guy. He was guiding a different group while we went off on our own. Lots to see.

2019-07-17Our guide gave us a very comprehensive tour of the homestead. It seems to be representative of the homestead during the Hanka occupancy including the smitty, the smoke sauna, the root cellar, the creamery, the home itself, the stables, the chicken koop, and more. Well worth the visit for anyone interested in the period.
