Comment: Terrible Experience with Hertz - Unaccommodating and UnsympatheticI recently had an extremely disheartening experience with Hertz that I feel compelled to share. My ordeal began when I arrived at the Hertz location to pick up the car I had reserved well in advance. Despite providing all necessary documents and adhering to the scheduled time, I was abruptly informed that I could not take the car. No clear explanation was given, and my attempts to understand the issue were met with vague and unhelpful responses.Adding insult to injury, when I requested a refund due to this inconvenience, I was bluntly told that it was not possible. The staff showed no empathy for the situation their decision had put me in, leaving me stranded without a vehicle and financially out of pocket. The lack of flexibility in their policies, especially under circumstances where the customer is not at fault, is astounding.Furthermore, the customer service was deplorably lacking. The staff were unresponsive and dismissive of my concerns. I had expected a company of Hertzs reputation to value their customers and show some degree of understanding, but I was met with indifference.This experience has not only caused unnecessary stress but has also resulted in financial loss, as I had to make alternative, last-minute transportation arrangements. The rigid and customer-unfriendly approach of Hertz has left a lasting negative impression on me.I strongly advise anyone considering Hertz for car rental to think twice. Their inability to provide basic customer service and their rigid, non-refundable policy can potentially ruin your plans and cost you financially. One star is overly generous for the level of service I received, and I will certainly be taking my business elsewhere in the future

Two young ladies in the lobby were nice until the one helping me dropped the bomb on me… for some strange unknown reason u must reserve car 24hrs prior to pick up if you’re going to pay with debt. No where on the contract does it state that… it only says that there would be a higher deposit n credit check when using a debit card payment. I then tried to reserve for the next day n even more strange I was no longer Getting the same offer but instead a couple hundred dollars more for the week. I understand the workers there don’t make the rules but I also didnt see that written anywhere as the disclosure.

Comment: If I could select zero stars I would. This office has the worst customer service and general attitude I have ever experienced. If you are thinking about renting from here avoid it at all costs. They gave me a car with three flat tires and wouldn’t exchange it when I went back the following day because I opted out of the insurance. Told me the car was my responsibility. Then when I returned it to another location (Burbank Airport) they noticed a small crack in the windshield. I called the office and asked for the photos of the vehicle prior to the rental and they refused to send them to me. The person working their has so much attitude I would be amazed she has a job except it’s obviously an institutional issue. The manager was just as rude and unhelpful. Guess it’s called Hertz cause of how painful it is to work with these people.

Comment: When i went to pick up my rental, it was a flawless experience. The woman(Deborah is her name I believe) and I sang and danced, we laughed and she was excellent, provided excellent customer service and i felt very well taken care of.So when i got a flat tire 2 days before i was supposed to return my rental, i replaced it and kept my invoice to submit to Hertz for reimbursement. I live a bit out of town so I didn’t expect to call them and ask them to come to me. It was only $40 to replace, i paid $300 for their insurance, I kept my receipt for the tire….and I’m an insurance agent.Did that happen? No. When I came to return my rental, she advised Hertz is filing for Chapter 11 and doesnt want to refund me for my tire. BUT! oh and this is where its good, if we come back to get another rental they will automatically upgrade us.... But i thought you were filing Chapter 11?This is completely unacceptable behavior. I will be filing a claim with the insurance carrier that provided me with insurance during my time of the rental period.I will never recommend Hertz, Rally Auto Group or any related business to anyone. They are an awful company that conduct shady operations on every single lot they have.

In my own haste I rushed out and for got my wallet. Well days went by and no call from Hertz. I then called them he told me that they have my wallet. Comment: My first experience at this Hertz location was great. I rented a van couple of months ago & took my family for a mini vacation. My family & I enjoyed the services, the van was brand new, excellent, clean. 2 stars only for that. My recent experience just before spring break was horrible to say the least. I booked a standard SUV 1 week prior to Spring break to beat the mad rush & things went from bad to worse. On the day of pick up at 11 am as I reached this location (by courtesy shuttle), the manager showed me a Pathfinder & a monster Dodge Ram as my vehicles of choice. However none of them were clean. He told me that he could give me a voucher to clean it myself or he offered to get it cleaned if I waited 20-30 minutes. I was very disappointed. My family was packed & waiting at home & this is what I was facing. After he went to the nearby car cleaning place & came back after 15/20 minutes, I took the keys & took off quickly for home. As I stopped at a nearby store on the way, I opened the boot to put some things away & my jaw dropped to the floor. The entire space at the back was filled with animal hair. Whoever used it last probably transported llamas or alpacas or big dogs that were shedding profusely. To add, the back seats had big wet slobber spots. I was furious. I went back & gave the Hertz manager a piece of my mind & I asked that he replaced my vehicle. His excuse of being understaffed & not being able to clean the car properly made me more angry. I came across some other disgruntled renters who had similar complains. All in all it was a big mess that day. It was almost 1 pm & I was yet to get a proper vehicle. Finally after much fuss, he offered me a clean (with eaten candy on the floor of the drivers side) luxury sedan, a free upgrade. But for a family of 5 - a car seat included - it was too small. But what could I do under the circumstances? I took the sedan & rushed home to pick up my family & start our trip. Thanks to this Hertz, my hotel check-in time, traffic & the added bonus of rain - all made our trip a memorable one & I am being very sarcastic when I say that. Never again am I going back to this location. Anyone who rents from here, please be sure to confirm first whether your vehicle is there to begin with and most importantly good to go.

Now I would rather come all the way from Lancaster to rent from them (12 miles distance away) than rent from the Enterprise near me. That says it all. They take care of the Lyft or Uber that picks me up from my location. Cannot say more than that in terms of professionalism. Thanks and keep up the good work. Mostly out of convenience since it is close to where I work and live, but Ive walked away with mixed feelings each time.I just got back from them about 8 minutes ago and was once again not completely satisfied with the car I was given. The moment I opened the door, I was hit with the stench of weed. (Did the previous drivers hot box in here?!?) The drivers seat was stained with.....white stuff. And the side of the passengers seat was stained with something that looks like chocolate milkshake? Basically, car was not cleaned. Again.This may come as news flash, but NOT EVERYONE LOVES WEED. Moreover, not everyone likes to smell their previous drivers when they enter a rental car. Unfortunately, I dont have time to ask them to clean it or exchange fro a new one (since I took the last one off their lot).The previous time I rented from them, I sat down to a car filled with the unmistakably bothersome odor of wet dog with dog hairs EVERYWHERE. The time before that, I sat down to someones leftover McDonalds food after waiting almost an hour past my reservation time.The workers are nice enough (hence the second star) but honestly, I wish theyd clean their cars before hiring them out to customers. Ill continue coming here out of convenience, but please keep in mind that you might be driving in a dirty/smelly/messy car.

Comment: Want to say that Don Cannon, manager, and Joe Simpson who run this location are the reason why Hertz is my #1 go-to car rental company.In July, I flew to California to see my dad who was in ICU. Id previously reserved a vehicle at Palmdale Hertz. When I landed at LAX, I saw I would be an hour late to pick up the car, so I called the location. I found theyd already given the car to someone who was there at the Hertz location. I could come any way and see if a car came in. I sat at this location, waiting, and no car came. A couple of other customers came in whod had reservations and it was the same thing - no cars available.Essentially, Hertzs reservation system allows you to book whether inventory is there or not. But, everything is contingent on whether the previous customer actually brings back their car on time (which doesnt always happen; sometimes they keep the car later in the day or even extra days - Hertz has no control over this).All the other car rental companies in Palmdale were also out of cars, so there I sat... needing a car to get to the hospital. This is where Joe Simpson and Don Cannon come in... I dont know exactly how they did it, but they got me a car! They understood the time sensitivity of what was going on and they went above and beyond to make sure I was taken care of. Their humanity and kindness in the midst of a terribly, vulnerable time for me blew me away! These gentleman are an asset to Hertz, and more importantly, men of integrity.I want to convey that, were it not for Don and Joe, I would never have rented from Hertz again due to the reservation system. I understand why Hertz has a policy of letting cars be rented to someone else if a person is near or late for their reservation pickup time; theyd lose money if the person didnt actually show up. This should have been made clear, however, when I made the reservation. Had I known, I would have pre-paid. Perhaps their website could have a clear indication that you can prepay for a guaranteed reservation, or hold without a credit card for an un-guaranteed reservation.I have since been back to California and rented from Hertz again (LAX this time) to see how the company did. I had an outstanding experience!Thank you, Don Cannon and Joe Simpson. Thank you, Hertz, for having such phenomenal people as the face of your company. I look forward to renting from Hertz again in the next couple of weeks.

Comment: 1 star yep thats pretty much as bad as it can get so it was the day that I was most of the day before I was headed off to a journey 2600 miles away to attend the funeral of one of my greatest friends fathers unfortunate funeral. One week comma two days, and 5 hours prior to picking up the vehicle to set out on this journey they had told us that all things are in order and that we just need to bring the deposit and sign paperwork. Its only that was all there was to it. It turns out that once we had arrived mind you we were all packed and ready to head out on the journey a devastating Journey. When out of nowhere they tell us they needed my friends credit, well unfortunately do you my friend who had always been a housewife their credit hadnt been the best in the past two years due to the fact that her husband has got extremely ill it was no longer able to work they had to survive on credit card which they have to max out having trouble making the payments so the credit score has dropped tremendously. She had all cash in hand for the deposit and the entire trip she was willing to pay in advance because its cool as well they refuse to read her the car to go to the funeral. Have they just said a little bit more professional episodes that not only did she needs to bring a deposit she was also going to have a credit check she knew she wouldnt have been able to pass it she knew she wouldnt have been able to pass it and would have made other arrangements But Here Comes The Happy part Enterprise rental they happily to deposit without reservation and she was able to attend thank you again Enterprise you saved the day it made a Dream Come True. If you ask me this all could have been resolved have employed up front and knowledgeable with the customer really needs to be provided and how the qualification of renting a car process worked with this company please be careful and make sure that you ask requirements when renting a car because they dont tell you up front

Comment: I booked my rental 2 months in advance for 9am. I finally got a car at noon. They gave mine away because they had people waiting before i got there and just didnt hold my car for me even though i have hertz gold, booked months in advance, and was a corporate customer. I would not trust them to have a car when you reserve it.
