Comment: Denise Wiggins is a joke! The expectations you would want from a store manager will not be achieved here. She’s on a rant talking about how she’s been there 20 years but can’t seem to practice good customer service. I’m seeing in these reviews that there are others having a similar experience. She had no remorse to be talking badly about her own job because the phone was ringing too much and talks so loud that everyone can hear her complaining. I’m trying to explain to her what her colleague explained to me about a specific car that would be available and her response was “well I don’t know why he would tell you that because he should know better and I’m going to need to hear this from him myself and these are MY CARS and I’m telling you that it don’t work like that”. Lady, I never told you to explain to me HOW IT WORKS because I don’t work there and you don’t need to be yelling at me. What you needed to explain was whether or not the car that I reserved would be available or not and whether I would have to wait knowing that I had already traveled back and forth several times over the last 24 hours trying to get an available rental. Seriously ridiculous. I made sure to contact customer service too to report her unprofessional behavior. There should be no reason at all that someone who claims to have been there 20 years should ever treat a customer like that. It’s bad enough that people are going through a rental experience because of some form of personal inconvenience and this is not something that’s needed to make it 10x worse.

Comment: Started off with a good experience. They have a very limited selection of vehicles. I had my rental for over 30 days because my car was totaled. I was charged an extra $8/day for an “upgrade charge” for a Chevy Malibu and when I asked why, I was told “that’s the price of the vehicle”. Well, online the price didn’t show an extra $8. The total for that extra charge was $296. I called Hertz customer service the next day and they refunded me within a week.

For me to break down on the side of the road and call roadside assistance to have me towed because they did want to deal with the car and tow their own car. Go to enterprise or any other rental business. They care more about their customers. Last time, I do business with Hertz

Comment: I arrived at this location at 11am. The representative left a note on the door informing theyd be back in ten minutes. They returned 30 minutes later. I ordered a suppliers choice, I was told I had a choice between an Electric Car or a Camry. I chose the Camry and was told it was $8 more per day. I was forced fed the EV which was an absolute nightmare. I got there at 11am and didnt leave the office until 12:45pm yet my paperwork said I left with the car at the above vehicle. I was detained longer than I needed. I was going to a family gathering in Arnold CA. There was one EV charger which had a line of three cars ahead of me. I ended up stopping in Jamestown at Chicken Ranch Bingo where the charge took 2 hours. By the time I got home my anxiety was through the roof. Do not go to this Hertz.

Comment: No one was at the office smh. Had talked to a gentleman the day before everything was set time/date etc. Stayed there for an hour no one showed up tried calling no answer. Place looks like it hasnt been in business. Waste of a day and money. Had to cancel my meetings and call in for work. Had to Lyft to Turlock for the nearest car rent location going Enterprise btw. All bad i believe this deserves negative stars if that is even possible. Happy Friday

I love renting hertz at other locations, i am president circle, but here is just a nightmare, from my personal experience and every single colleague of mine that has rented locally in Merced.

Comment: Dont expect to get the gasoline car you choose online. Theyre transitioning to all-electric. I had some anxiety renting/driving one as soon as I was told AFTER all the docs were signed and deposit withdrawn. No home charger is given and a 250 mile range limit. Charging out in the wild has an annoying learning curve with a multitude of apps to sign in to. The rental price was the best in the area tho and I got a Chevy 2023 model.

Comment: Pretty upset with the behavior of this location. Website says Im able to get a car the next day and lets me submit a request to pick up a vehicle at 8:00am. I get a call the day of about a half hour before pick up time and am told that they actually dont have any vehicles and have to wait till 10 before any vehicle comes in. I was told that I would be called back when the vehicle was ready for pickup. I was never called back. Ended up having to take a train instead.

Comment: This experience is going to sound bad. I rented a car and it should have been an SUV. I got a call 1 hour before pickup to tell me not only did they not have an SUV they didnt have any cars. A halfway expected this because of the situation in the world today. Then the woman remembered that she had one vehicle on the lot. A tiny Chevy spark. I told her I would stop by in an hour and see what she had. All she had was the Chevy spark. But I have a car, and thats saying something in todays world. Both in place were pleasant and friendly through the entire experience. They only lose one star because the world is so jacked up and theyre suffering from it but it impacts me.3 months later I have my car back. The delay has nothing to do with the dealership and everything to do with the manufacturer.

Comment: Denise Wiggins is the worst manager I’ve ever interacted with. I had a car rental paid and I assumed ready. She called me the DAY OF my rental to tell me it would’ve be ready for another 3 hrs as if that’s ok. I told her I needed my rental on time I was going to an airport. She found a car but it was not the size I needed so I choose to wait for the van I ordered to be transported from Stockton. Then I proceeded to wait another two hours in the office while she argues and was rude to other customers. The other customers in the shop asked me why I was waiting so long and told me they felt disrespected by her too. Denise was on the computer while they were talking to me. She then finally decided to ring me up was finishing up and stated, just take a seat and we’ll clean the car for you. I said I still have to wait longer? (I’d been waiting for two hours past my reservation date). Once I asked that Denise shut down and said she would not deal with me which caught me off guard considering I didn’t raise my voice and asked a normal question. She then kept saying she made her choice and my reservation was cancelled. Worst rental experience of my life. Not only is this manager unprofessional but she’s known in Merced for being horrible. I just saw a thread on Twitter discussing similar experiences. Hertz or the owner of this location should do something.

He patiently showed me all the cars they had. I even ended up changing my car, he again helped me through that.Also, there is a nice lady that helps me with the heavy boxes that I had.Definitely thats a place to rent a car in Merced!

First of all made my rental online; so everything could be ready because I was on a tight schedule, but they had me wait the longest time (2hours) and then said it was the wrong card just to find out she just kept typing it in wrong. And to top that off I believe I was over charged (paid in advance online, just to get charged again by them). Sad to say I Did not make it on time to my event. Overall would never rent from them again.

I had to wait over 9 hours, one and a half day wasted of my time. What was worst was they kept saying they would call me to let me know when my rental was ready, and NEVER DID! I kept calling to ask, they would say, it will be here by 10am, then No Later than 12:30pm, oh, it should be here by 3pm. I was very frustrated with these people. They were very inconsiderate of my time. DONT use Hertz!

Comment: The car was nice and people friendly, their main business is repair rentals.and they were short staffed so they could not deliver 3 Gold Member cars we needed at the main airport..cost us an hour plus!!!!

Comment: The people at Hertz were great, I was somewhat disappointed in the Toyota Corolla, we were taking it to Arizona and it didnt have cruise control, that made it a little more tiring.

Comment: The manager was awesome. she was so kind and helpful. my car broke on the way to Yosemite and i stop by nearby. the manager on duty was so nice she immediately called customer care and arranged me a new car. really nice lady .

Comment: HORRIBLE customer service! We rented a car two days advance to get there and be told our car was not there and told to wait 45 minutes then our car would be here. After that time had passed and the car was not there they said gave us ANOTHER time to call then didnt even call us so we had to call back only to be told he car was not there still and to call back at ANOTHER TIME it was already 3pm! Then told we were not even guarantee a car! Ruined our whole family trip! HOW CAN YOU LET PEOPLE BOOK DAYS IN ADVANCE AND THEN NOT EVEN CALL TO TELL THEM THERE IS NO CAR LET ALONE HAVE THEM WAITING ALLL DAY!!!! I would NEVERRRRR recommend this place: I dont even know how its still in business with the customer service they provide! Also when asked to talk to the manager i was told she was at lunch and would call when she got back. I never received a call back! I only gave hem 1 star cause I had to they deserve no stars.
