Comment: As I stated on the call yesterday 3/13/24, I did not put diesel in the gas tank. Attached is the electronic receipt and a date and time stamped video of me using the correct pump on 13 March at 4:32am PST provided by Circle K. I paid $78.78 for 17 gallons of unleaded gas. Several gallons of gas spilled on the ground due to the cars sensor failing. The pump didnt shut off.On 26 Feb 24, I paid $176.28 on Pricelines website to secure a vehicle with Dollar on 3/7/24 with a drop off of 3/13/24 at Fresno Airport. I put flight number AA1381 on my reservation at the time of purchase so the car rental company would be aware of flight changes as indicated on their website. The remaining $72.34 was due on the day of pick up. On 3/7/24, flight AA1381 from DFW was delayed for 4.5 hours due to severe thunderstorms. It was 11:30pm when we landed at Fresno Airport, and there was no one at the Hertz car rental desk. Enterprise, Budget, Alamo and various rentals were still open at that time. I was forced to pay an additional $65 for a one day rental with Alamo because Dollar did not give me the car that I paid for.I paid a total of $412 to rent 2 cars, including the $79 spilled gas due to Hertz faulty vehicle and $20 in gas for a round trip to Fresno in the Alamo car rental. I wasted a lot of time and money for something that shouldnt have happened. If Hertz agents had stayed at their kiosk the same amount of time as every other car rental agency and ensured their vehicles were properly serviced, then none of this would have happened. As the customer, I should not be found liable for Hertz’s incompetence, poor service and lack of vehicle maintenance. Parts of my short visit home were ruined due to multiple mishaps with this car rental.Hertz has now falsely accused me of damaging their vehicle with diesel fuel (despite the video evidence proving I used unleaded fuel). Hertz does not want to take responsibility for their agents giving me a car that shouldn’t have been on the road. Paul made me wait 10 minutes before he issued me a car that had just been turned in. 10 minutes is not enough time to complete a thorough maintenance check on a vehicle. They would have noticed diesel fuel in the vehicle if they had serviced it before giving it to me, but they were rushing. Please escalate my email to Priceline and Hertz leadership so that I can express the multitude of issues and request a refund through them.

Our flight comes in an hour early and we go to the counter and immediately, we are told, you are really early, we have no cars UNLESS YOU WANT TO UPGRADE to a Mercedes or Caddy at a price DOUBLE what our reservation price was. No discounts for veterans or free upgrade since we are to early for our reservation. Zero consideration and now because they have NO CUSTOMERS we watch them twiddle their thumbs and they watch us just sitting here watching the clock. You would think today when theres a ton of car rental companies, youd be grateful and take care of your customers. Not Dollar, its F the customer.

Comment: Wife’s car broke down on Thanksgiving. On Friday I went on hertz website and reserved a midsized car for her for a week so there was time for her to get her car fixed. I showed up at 730pm and they told me there were no midsized cars, only luxury cars and 7 passenger suburbans available and I would have to pay the difference. I have rented from hertz several times and when this happened before they would acknowledge their mistake and give me the upgrade at the same price as my reservation. However this time they wanted me to pay the additional cost for the premium vehicles. I declined and walked away very angry. They had time to contact me if the vehicle was not available, instead of making me drive 35 mins to them for nothing. I will NEVER use hertz again, and I discourage everyone from using them.

Comment: I usually LOVE Hertz and am treated very well but this was the worst experience Ive had thus far.I chose the Managers special and received a hybrid Jeep, which was pretty cool.When I got in the vehicle, the scent bomb smell couldnt cover up the cigarette smoke residual smell.I went back to the counter to see if I could get a different car.The man who helped me looked irritated, and finally came out to inspect the vehicle. He said, its fine, you just smell the car bomb smell. My daughter smelled it as well. He TOTALLY invalidated my request for a different vehicle and said, theres no smoke smell, youll be fine. When I asked if there was any type of freshener I could use, he said, theres nothing wrong with it.When I returned the vehicle, different staff person, but he could barely wait for me to get my things out, even though i was on time/early for return. He jumped in and took off with the vehicle without so much as a friendly acknowledgement.The worse customer service I have ever experienced from Hertz, but I cant blame the company, per se, as these workers seemed to be managing 3 different rental companies. Hated this experience.

I reserved my car online days before my reservation and when I got there they said 5 people were in line in front of me. I waited about 1.5 hours. Returning the car was even worse. Comment: VERY FRUSTRATING! If I could give a negative star, I would. I had booked a one day rental car with Hertz through Priceline. Because I needed an early start I booked the rental car through FAT, the Fresno Airport Terminal location as they opened the earliest at 6:30 am. When I arrived the service representative said the cars would not be ready for another half an hour to 1 hour. I explained I have made a reservation online through Priceline for a 6:30 am car. I was told that no cars are ever ready at that time and I was welcomed to cancel this reservation and check the other rental car counters (the competition) if something was available immediately. Frustrated, I waited and then I was called back to the counter once a car was ready to then complete the paperwork process. I provided my id with my husband’s credit card, the card I booked the reservation with online. I was told the credit card had to be in my name since I was the one renting the car. No problem, so I pulled out my Visa debit credit card. I was told because it was a “debit card” they could not accept it. I needed to have just a credit card. I explained it had a visa logo on it and it was also a credit card. I was then told if I was coming off of a flight I could use a visa debit card or if I booked at an independent hertz location I too could use my visa debit card for the reservation. However, I could not use my debit card as a walk in customer at the airport location. I explained, I do not have a credit card other than my debit as I was on the Dave Ramsey plan. At this point, I had to call my husband into the airport terminal (who had dropped me off but thankfully waited in the parking lot) to transfer the reservation under his name and put the credit card down. It took him 10 minutes to park the car and walk to the rental counter. Within the ten minutes it took him to do this I was told the car I had reserved was given to the next customer after me and there were no other cars available in the class of cars I had reserved for another half hour to one hour. I was offered to upgrade into next class of car that was immediately available, but that the upgrade was not free and I would have to pay for it. I had grown beyond frustrated with the everything that had occurred. I politely explained to this service counter representative, “you knew I was calling my husband to come in to complete the reservation and you gave away the car I had reserved in advance to the person after me? Now there is no car available and you want me to upgrade at my cost! Do you understand why I am so frustrated?” Her response was yes, but that she is used to it because she deals with it everyday. A set of keys in the car class I had reserved came in as this discussion occurred. We proceeded in completing the reservation, but while doing so my husband was asked if he wanted collision damage coverage. He told her yes, not knowing I had already purchased the coverage online while making the reservation. Luckily, I had my reservation handy and the $40 fee for collision damage was deducted. (It was as though she never even pulled up my Priceline reservation to ever even check it.) I finally left the the FAT rental facility at 8:00 am.I got a very late start to my day, in which I had specifically pre-planned to avoid by going out of my way to rent at this facility that opened earlier. It goes without saying that I was extremely disappointed and frustrated with every aspect of the service I received.

From them not having my car ready at pick up, to the extra fees being almost as much as the rental itself, to not processing it when I returned it, which ended with me having extra charges on my card that were like pulling teeth to have removed, it was a terrible experience from start to finish. And their customer service seems uninformed and poorly trained. The counter staff doesnt answer the phone, the voice mail box is full and when I drove down to talk to them the managers were too busy to assist me in a timely manner. It was finally resolved when I called customer service while waiting for the manager at the location. They reversed the charges which the previous person said that the location had to do. I know losing my business wont make a dent in their profits but maybe if more people chose other companies they will address these issues.

My pick up time for the vehicle we reserved was at 4pm, but did not leave until 5:30pm and with a different vehicle than what we reserved. There was an issue with having to switch my brothers CC information to my CC since he made the reservation online and lives in a different city, the lady (did not bother to get her name) was visible annoyed, did not greet me as I walked up and was generally rude, stated I would have to call the 1-800 number to get the information straightened out, which was no problem, I was on hold for 30 minutes until I reached an operator. The operator asked why the agents at the desk was unable to switch the information there, to which I informed him that it is located in an airport, he then mentioned they should have contacted the company directly to have the issue fixed faster with little wait time. By the time I was able to get back to the front desk to get my rental car, they stated it would be another 35 to 50 minutes until there was another vehicle available in the large sedan category, but that they had a premium vehicle ready right away. I had to take the premium vehicle, of course with an up-charge due to the fact I was already running late. The only reason they are getting a 2 star rating as apposed to a one star rating is because of the young man named Bryan who helped me the second time. The female who helped me, who I am assuming was the manager, needs to take a course on customer service, or leave the service industry if she will not help out her customers.

Comment: Be careful when reserving a vehicle online here at the Fresno Airport, they changed their vehicle size now. Also, the vehicle I end up getting was not as described from my reservation.Most important thing is that the vehicle I got has fur and hair all over the inside and white stains on the doors and seats. There was a VERY bad odor in the car and it made my kids sick after riding it in for a hour.I know they do not detail or clean these rental car as we may think and COVID is not their concerns from the way they do not clean their vehicles.Be careful renting vehicles here and always use disinfectant wipe to clean the whole inside before you let your family in the vehicle. Comment: A small and efficient airport compared to airports in the United States. 5 minutes from the moment you got off the plane and you are in the rental car. The counters in terminology do not need a shuttle and so do the vehicles waiting literally a minutes walk from the counter. Returning the vehicle yourself, get out of the vehicle without a representative and place the keys at the counter. Really recommended.

I had a special accomodation and confirmed with a customer service rep over the phone that this would be no problem. Unfortunately when I got to the counter at the airport the customer service rep wouldnt assist me at all. He cut me off before I could say a full sentence. He said, Sorry Maam but Airport policy says we cant do this. I was upset and would have prefered to be treated with some respect and not dismissiveness and eye rolling. Luckily, the next car rental kiosk, Enterprise, was able to communicate and help me find a solution. I was so pleased that there was another option and that I was not suck in the airport in the middle of nowhere, thanks to another car rental company.

When I told her that my Mother in Law was helping me out because my car was broken down at the moment, she told me that the credit card name had to match my name as the driver and that she wouldn’t even add me as a secondary driver and let my Mother in Law come with her card (then she raised her voice talking to me like I was dumb) because ALL DRIVERS NAMES HAVE TO MATCH THE CREDIT CARD. But I have rented cars in the past where there WAS a secondary driver. But she said she would not add me as a secondary driver. And then the company Thriftys that I actually rented through didn’t even have a disclaimer on their website saying that the person buying the rental HAD to match the person who would be the driver. Which Gwen proceeded to say “That’s not my problem.” When I told her my Mother in Law was coming with her card and ID she said the only thing they could do was cancel it and said that if we came back in she would make sure no one rented a car to me. And then she kept calling me Honey which she said in a derogatory way and which all girls know is a dig at the other person saying that with that tone.Gwen was so negative, rude, attempted to have a loud and “intimidating” voice, Had zero empathy or any good customer service skills at all while representing Hertz.

We had purchased the car online (recommended by one of the associates when we called) and when we arrived we were helped by Brandon. Brandon was polite, efficient and helpful. Apart from being rude and disrespectful, he was not able to give me a proper explanation about the extra fees added and fabricated a story that the vehicle had absolutely no gas!!However, he had no interest in issuing my refund and claimed that it was not in his control.Later, they confessed that my account was still open and they did not properly close my account until I got there.It got worst, he did not have any record of how much they pumped. Thats illegal!I called corporate and my bank company about these suspicious transactions. I gave them all my proof and they both verified that it was fraud. I would NEVER want this to happen to anyone. If you do plan to rent from them, Please check your accounts and record mileage, gas, existing damages etc.They deserve No stars.

He says that I can call after 17:00 and see what is available, this is the time when they should be slowing down. So I did, this time I spoke to Brandon. I told Brandon the situation and that I was following up from my earlier conversation with the other rep. Brandon proceeds to tell me since I already did an upgrade I wouldnt be able to change. Again, the only reason I upgraded is because there was not a midsize car available when I arrived.( which I reserved) Brandon began to tell me we are sold out. My question to him again was when will you have a smaller vehicle ( the vehicle that I initially reserved) his response.. we are sold out I say to him.. why arent you listening to me. again from Brandon we are sold out and you just dont like my answer. My response this time is full of frustration. I asked where is the customer service which includes listening and resolutions. If I can not exchange the car today tell me when one will be available. Brandon says I KNOW CUSTOMER SERVICE OBVIOUSLY I GOT THE JOB. At this point all I could do is shake my head because there is no need in teaching the unteachable. Super surprised at the service I received from the beginning. NEVER AGAIN!! My phone overheated and shut down (surprise surprise when your stuck in California heat.) The agent wasn’t helpful and didn’t explain anything. I finally get a tow truck out here and the car towed back to my hotel. I called back again, and when I finally spoke to another agent and told her what happened, she tried looking up my case. The first agent never went through with it. Never tried to call me back despite having and confirming my cell. The second woman was more helpful and explained due to the holiday weekend, I’d have to go to Fresno and get a new car. Okay, understandable. She said they would get an Uber or I could ride with the tow truck. I asked her again, to confirm that I could ride to Fresno in the tow truck and she said yes. Yet when the tow truck gets here, I’m informed that that’s not possible. So now I’m stuck on hold for the third time waiting to get an answer. This is insane. There is zero reason why they couldn’t tow a car down here and take back the broken one. This was a horrible experience. There are other rental agencies at the airport: do yourself a favor and avoid hertz.

We were told there were no cars but we could do an upgrade. We were maxed at what we were allowed to use for the rental car. The agent said that they could get the overall price within 10 dollars if we were to drop the daily insurance. We agreed and were given a Chevy Impala. I guess they consider that an upgrade. We were happy and drove off with the car. Later that day I realized my credit card was charged an additional 486.00 dollars on top of the 270.00 that was agreed on.Of course we tried to take the car back but were told we could not. For some reason the agent that helped up could not be found or contacted. We took it to the manager that took the paperwork and just starred at it for about 15 min. Comment: I wish I could give this zero stars. Possibly the worst rental experience of my life. I booked a regular car(Which is a ford fusion for most car companies) and they gave me a nissan altima. No problems there. The altima did not have car play so I asked them if they had any car that did. They said none of their full size cars had car play(Which is a load of BS since most cars come basic with car play) and I would have to upgrade to the next level to get car play. They did say they had a ford fusion hybrid which they showed me on stall 64 and I liked it and i told them i would pay for the upgrade to the hybrid. They gave me a different stalls key and told me it was a hybrid ford fusion (Even after i told them I had seen the ford fusion in that stall and it was not a hybrid - but they promised me it was). I go out and it was a regular ford fusion. Basically - I paid for an upgrade to a ford fusion with leather seats. Full size cars are one class and full size cars with leather seats are a different class. I hate how hertz runs its business and I will never be going back to them. Please learn from enterprise and budget on how to run a good business. Enteprise has always given me the best cars whenever I rent from them. The lady in the counter was extremely rude and not helpful at all. I give this location and hertz zero stars. They will never be getting my business again. I am sure the manager will post a reply asking me to call an automated hertz line. If he cared about his customers - He would give a direct line or email to reach him. Or maybe I have to pay for that as well since everything is an upgrade at hertz.

To start, the man working named Rafael said he couldn’t find our car rental reservation even though my husband and I spelled out our first and last name several times. He had to turn the screen around and it was right there. We found out mid trip upon looking at receipt that we had gotten charged the underage fee of nearly $200, when the rental was reserved under my husband’s name, and we used my credit card (I am under 25, my husband is not). I had no intentions of driving the rental car, so we called the number on the receipt and a woman promised to waive the fee for us because of the misunderstanding with the charge being made to my name. We go to return the car and we have the same man, he refused to reimburse us, even though we were promised on the phone. He was quite rude. We will not be renting through Hertz ever again. There are plenty of other car rentals to choose from at the Fresno airport, don’t waste your time with Hertz.

Comment: Ive used this location many many times. The staff are friendly and fast. The cars are clean and typically pretty new. I wish you could select your own car for gold members and above, like other larger Hertz locations, but its still only about a 20 second process to pickup as a gold member if there is no line of people, and from there you just get in your car and go. There is no gate check to slow you down as you leave the airport so I guess that is one advantage to not being able to pick your own car..

Comment: So my husband and I had planned a vacation and at Alamo I had a car reserved to pick up at 7:30pm, gave the girl my drivers license and credit card. My total came out $303 so it exceed the amount by just $3 and the girl wouldnt budge and give me some kind of deal to wave that $3. Sooo something told me to try Hertz rental. The guy working got me a rental and it didnt exceed my credit, he was a huge life safer, I told him I could give him a hug. Alamo lost a customer and Hertz gain one. Because of the guy (I wish I knew his name) made it possible to get a rental. I will forever use Hertz now. Thank you for your awesome service.

Comment: Rented at this Hertz location on short notice and without reservation when another rental company refused me due to their policy for active duty service members needing military orders. Showed the staff at Hertz all the exact paperwork including Driver’s License, DMV letter of extension on license, Military ID, proof of insurance, and proof of address. Was able to get a loaded Nissan Altima at a great price with no hassle despite stepping up to the window with only 20 minutes till closing time. Thank you for taking care of my family and for keeping us from being stranded. You have just won a customer over from one of your competitors! Will continue to make Hertz my first choice for our rental car needs!

Comment: Had an emergency for a/c not working/check engine light from an insurance claim, was told a guaranteed type of vehicle. When arriving Richard the location manager said I wasnt a paying customer so I couldnt decide from the type of vehicle. Im disabled so I needed an SUV and he said he can only give me a sedan due to his paying customers from the airport. So I was lucked out. He was rude and didnt take me into any consideration. Do not recommend this location at all. The customer service in Hanford is the opposite they staff was so friendly I would recommend them to anyone. But Fresno airport location worst service ever! DO NOT rent here!!!!!!!

Comment: Reserved a car and had to wait for over an hour because they said the car wasnt ready! I was stuck in the airport waiting, missed my appointment and they refused to upgrade me or anything. If I paid for a car at a certain time, I would expect it to be there when Im there to pick it up. Talked to some workers at that airport and they said that Hertz always has people waiting for a car. That is no way to treat customers. I cancelled my rental and asked for a refund. They still didnt acknowledge me or try to make it right. Poor customer service!

Comment: I rented a car from Hertz via Priceline. I declined the insurance because our insurance covers rentals. When we got to the counter they asked if we wanted the insurance, and we told them, no, our insurance covers it. They handed us the contract and we signed it. Apparently they added the insurance, despite us telling them we didnt want it. They ripped us off. When we called they were extremely rude and said we signed a contract, so tough. So we wound up paying over $300 more for the rental than we had budgeted for. I will never, ever, rent from Hertz again.
