Comment: Flight arrived super late and by the time I got to the Hertz location they were closed for the night. Sucks but it happens. Been trying for over an hour this morning (and counting) to get in touch with them to find out how to get my car and I cannot for the life of me get in touch with anyone. Their customer service line is automation hell. Half the time their own system glitches out and goes blank forcing you to cut the call and listen to all the prompts again. If you manage to get in touch with someone you only hear a hurried “Hertz I’m going to put you on hold” and that’s that. They just leave you there for 15-20 minutes before the call ends, forcing you to call and go through all the prompts again. Hertz obviously couldn’t care less about you getting the car you paid for. I was eventually forced to call a different Hertz location and get assistance because these guys are that useless. Go anywhere else unless listening to hold music and not getting places is a passion of yours.

Comment: I do not recommend renting from Hertz. They have charged me two times for the same car rental and now it is over two weeks later and they still have not straightened it out. I have been getting nothing but the runaround from the Hertz people. One would think they could easily reverse the charges on one of the two charges to my credit card. On top of that there was a big mixup when I went to check in. I was supposed to go right out to the lot and get my car, but they told me there was no car for me. They sent me back inside to the end of the line. I waited through the line. When I got to the counter and was starting to talk about the whole situation all over again, someone called from the parking lot and said my car was ready and wondered where I was. But the biggest problem for me is the fact that I have been charged twice $263 and Hertz still has not taken care of it. Beware.Update: Hertz finally refunded the amount I was double charged. Other than the response to this review I have heard nothing more from them.

After travel delays, I tried to update my pickup time on the app, but it wouldnt let me change it, kept getting system errors. Reservation eventually cancelled. When I finally got to Hertz Ben was super helpful and took care of the issue quickly.

How is it ok to CLOSE your desk and gate to the cars when its clear planes were delayed all over, making many of us very confused and SCARED when there was no human, no sign, and no way to know what to do at 1am in the morning! I was lucky, it only cost me $60 to take a Lyft but some people were having to pay HUNDREDS of dollars just to get a ride to safety. This is 2024, technology is your friend. You should have known about how many people were showing up with CONFIRMED reservations. Shame on your lack of ethical and safe business practices. And yes. Im still mad and had to MISS an important meeting so I could take time out of my morning to take another Lyft to pick up a rental car. GOLD REWARDS really??? No thanks Hertz.

Comment: Flying to Ontario for my mother-in-laws funeral. Booked pick up at 1130p online. By the time the shuttle picked us up it was closed. My wife, 4 little ones and I were left stranded and had to walk to our hotel. Enterprise was open so I will book with them next time since they dont leave late arrivals stranded.This was 1 star but changed to 3. Ray was awesome when I got there this morning and he made things right. Still a 3 because hours need to match flights and reservations

Comment: Terrible experience. The local desk refuses to answer their phone for assistance. Meanwhile the worker is sitting there playing on their personal phone. Even bigger issue, I returned the rental, 24 hours later no receipt, and instead additional chargers like it is still opened. Call Customer service, they say they can only email them, and it can be another 48 hours before they close it out. Never will rent from Hertz at this location again.

Comment: We have learned our lesson from this company, we returned 3/4 tank gas, the assistant read out loud at night of return, and they still chaged us full tank ! Also, the counter staff told us insurance will be $100 more for all 4 days, but ended up on bill for $42 per day. I also tried to call Ontario airport rental counter but no one ever answer the phone ! clearly, he misleading customer on fuel charges and did not explain well, we both heard what he said.

Comment: Horrible, rented a car on 9/02/2023 from this location and booked a week in advanced just to get there for them to say my vehicle wasnt available and no similar cars were either even though the person next to me checking in was getting a car in the exact category I was looking for. Ended up getting put into a smaller car I didnt want and drove away. 3 weeks after returning it, I get an email saying there was damage to the car from an incident (even though the staff signed off and took the car after I left and youre saying it took 3 weeks to notice it?). I asked for any sort of proof of damages and received nothing in return. A month later I get a letter in the mail from D&A asking for damage compensation with still no proof of damages. All in all horrible experience that ended up being even worse then expected when the expectation was already floor low. DO NOT RENT FROM THIS LOCATION THIS WAS EVEN WITH PRESIDENTS CIRCLE STATUS.

Comment: Booked a car today for a 4 hour drive cost 130 to go to San Diego. They charged me I showed up and the lady goes “we tried calling you you didn’t answer” I replied with “what? I was on a plane” Cassandra then try’s telling me she’s doing me a favor by allowing us to rent a car same day, like lol what.Then while checking out I tell me wife to use a credit card as rental insurance is free when you do it. Cassandra then tells me you can’t use a credit card, I gave her a debit card and she then tells us you can’t use it. A manager then comes over and starts saying you can’t use debit cards and we should be lucky to be allowed a car even though we paid for it.After arguing for about 5 minutes with the peanut gallery about how I’ve given them a credit and debit card now they finally gave us the car. Lol Cassandra and the older lady with glasses sitting on the far right counter might be the worse display of customer service I’ve seen. No wonder Turo is taking over, they hire normal humans. I will be reporting both to hertz as they tried not allowing me a car I paid for. She legit told me it’s a favor to give us the car. She also asked us to give us a flight proof of leaving, yet we live here. LolTried calling the office 3 times to talk to a manager and watched as no one was in there and no one answered. Comment: Manager on duty, Michelle Flores; I worked with Ben on Weds night to get a rental. Ben was nice and helpful, but was interrupted by two other workers needing his help. Ben kept it together but seemed irritated the others weren’t respecting that he was with a customer. What could have been a 5 min transaction, turned into 20 mins. On our way to Laughlin the next morning, the battery light came on.. I had to take the car back. We approached the front desk and Jeffrey told us to go through the return lane for an exchange. No apology, or remorse for the inconvenience. Following his instructions, we sat in the return lane until we were yelled at to keep the keys inside the car. I had to yell back to the attendant that we needed to make an exchange and he didn’t know what to do. He had to walk to the outside window, at the end of the return lane, only to walk all the way back to us and tell us to go back inside. I told him we that did that already and they told us to come out here. Completely frustrated, I approached the front desk again, and asked Jeffrey to come outside, because they didn’t know what they were doing outside. Jeffrey reiterated the process, as if I did not understand, and after expressing my frustration, he rolled his eyes at me and proceeded to come outside. Of course the battery light did not come back on again, so Jeffrey challenged us, but there was no way I was trusting this car to go to Laughlin. We were given a new car, but were never given understanding, help with transferring our luggage from one car to the next… zero helpful approach. The customer experience is totally lacking. Jeffrey’s attitude was so unnecessary. I will use other companies moving forward.

Even though it shows my name on the Gold board, go to the gold area and nothing..... have to go back in and wait in line only to be told that I needed to go look at the board....After they come out and notice that there were no cars, I tried to get one but somebody else came up and demanded I get out of their car, so I was left without a car again.Employee finally came out, and all that was left were EVs. This was not what I wanted to rent, but had a schedule to follow as I was here to deliver the ashes of my stepmother to he daughter. Comment: Very easy to access by shuttle.You may need to wait 10-30 minutes at counter (west most counter). Usually the car model is selected for you. Last time I got to choose which car model I wanted to get.Gas tank is always full. Car rental is 1 block from the 10 freeway, 1 block from 7/11 gas station.

Once the shuttle dropped us off, I was able to bypass going inside and use the board outside. Picked my vehicle and proceeded to the exit. One of the slowest lines Ive experienced in my travels. Comment: Rep straight up lied or gave us misleading information. We had to upgrade our vehicle due to the large number of luggage we had. We specifically asked if we could pay the extra (upgrade) fees with a different credit card because the original (cost) booking was done with a government credit card and we werent allowed to overcharge that amount. The guy at the counter told us we could pay the extra fee with a different/separate credit card. My coworker and I SPECIFICALLY asked again to confirm and we were told YES, we could do that. When we returned the vehicle we were told (by a different person) they do not split the payment, so we had to use either the government credit card or personal credit card, but not both to pay. He explained this has always been the policy. If we knew we couldnt split the payment we wouldve gone with a different option.

Comment: I booked a car online, the prices were good. When I wanted to get the car, the cashier told me that my credit card was a debit. I showed him the credit logo & explained him that I already rented a car in the USA with this card. The cashiers did not allowed me to try again with my card and was really unpleasant and expeditive. The way he talked to me was not respectful.For the cashier : if you dont like people & your job, just quit it. Hertz, I want a cash return for the 36$ that will be invoiced to me.Very bad experience for me. Avis rental car, that is located 30m away is way better. Thanks to them I was able to get a car without ANY problem, and the cashier was very talkative, pleasant and was smiling all the time. You can take example out of them.

They told me if you want to fill it up with us upon return, it will be $4.17 a gallon, but they charged me triple the amount what I should’ve been charged instead and no one at customer seems to be helpful and solving this issue. Probably never renting with hertz again.

I had a 6am flight, and needed to drop off the rental by 4am.The rep informed me the office will not be open at that time and per representatives instruction; I was to park the car in front of the Hertz building. Next, I was instructed to drop the keys to the rental inside the secured Dropbox. I arrived on my return date, followed instructions and proceeded for my flight. I received a call from Hertz indicating that my rental was LATE 2 DAYS !!! Hertz took my deposit PLUS CHARGED ME AN ADDITIONAL $150.00 DOLLARS !!!! Furious is an understatement. I called to speak with a Manager and he gathered my information. His name starts with a B. He collected all my information only to tell me that since my rental waa closed; there is nothing he can do but contact BILLING!!!!!!!. HOW DO YOU INSTRUCT CUSTOMERS TO DROP KEYS IN THE DROP BOX AND PARK THE CAR IN FRONT OF THE BUILDING THEN CHARGE THEM LATE FEES !!!!!!!!! Comment: Set my alarm for 2 AM to return my car in time to be at airport 1 1/2 hours before flight boarding at 4:40 am. Pulled up to Hertz return at 3 am. Gate closed, does not open until 4 am. No way to return car or get shuttle to terminal. Renting from Hertz for 25 + years and this has never happened. Always been a way to return a car 24/7. Really dissatisfied. Additional info - they gave me the wrong contract and now are not returning calls to fix the issue. Terrible customer service here.

But for some specific reason this hertz location absolutely refused to take my card and even try to see if the system accepts it…as soon as I handed the lady the card she handed it back and said she can’t use it she didn’t check to see if it was the card I used to make my reservation which I made on the phone with a hertz representative after they’ve told me one the phone chime credit was accepted just not the debit cards. I tried explaining that I verified on the phone and have a history of renting with the same card and she just dismissed me thank god Alamo car rentals took the card with no prejudice and I was able to be helped by them I will never use this hertz location again just because of the unnecessary inconvenience she didn’t even want to check with her colleagues just unsatisfactory the be more descriptive it was the older Indian/Iraq lady

I was blamed for a chip in the windshield that had spidered out slightly when nothing hit the windshield while in my care for 48 hours and about 50 miles total driven. Relying on the airport shuttle that services all the offsite parking, employee shuttling back and forth, takes multiple stops and is totally packed/crammed is a joke. After a late flight the last thing anyone wants to do is wait outside. Also the shuttle driver was rude and bossy about how people were stacking their bags “diagonally”. Comment: Can I give negative stars? Less than zero communication, no way possible to get the desk number without physically going into the location, what’s the point of having local agents. Their drop off closes earlier than all other companies in the building, note that. Had an emergency, had to drop off a car overnight, there is no way to do that it is not possible. Even left a note with the keys behind their desk to inform them. They did nothing with it, I had to drive two hours back here to return the car myself the next day because it is impossible to get a hold of anyone but corporate and corporate will not connect you to the local office. Also the ladies have a bit of an attitude, they need to remember their jobs, and that they are front facing customer service representatives and that is all. I’d rather deal with the DMV than these clowns. I returned with half tank, but they emailed me the receipt and said I returned with empty tank. I drove less than 25 miles but they said I drove 78 miles. But common sense will tell you half tank with drove more than that (half tank means 13 gallon for Nissan Titan, and the average MPG is 17, 17*13=221 mile). The customer service cannot do anything on that. It is just the staff there want to take advantage of the customer, even six year old gold member. Really bad experiences.

I was shocked by her attitude and demeanor. I was charged $27, I was refunded $15 when I complained about it but by that time I had signed the paper stating I wanted it so I was screwed out of $12 (it all adds up, believe me). Words of advice, go through your paperwork with a fine toothed comb before you leave the desk AND if you dont have a proper credit card they slap a $200 deposit that takes about a week to be refunded, so be prepared for that charge as well.

It seems to me, that when a customer is willing to pay extra for any item, it should be in the vehicle - especially after an adding a ten minute delay in getting to the car (restroom stop for the kids). It didnt appear busy, as I was immediately next in line when I walked up to the check-in area, and there were only 1-2 others walking to their rentals in the lot. Using a two-way radio or some type of flagging message system to the outside crew should make the upgrades practically instantaneous. Plus, in my case, it was for a booster seat. A safety item, not a luxury or convenience item. $13.00/day seemed overpriced. $5.00/day would be reasonable to me.

When I dropped off the car, did not have the attendant with the quick check in, was kinda one person for all car rental companies bringing back. had funny smell in the car, like something nasty spilled and took days with my windows rolled down to clear the smell. I expect more from Hertz since I am paying more to Hertz, sad review :(

Comment: The telephone reservation desk is the pits to try to work with. The rates are almost always double and it takes forever to get the reservation in. However, once you get past it - OR work with the online system- the Hertz Gold service in Ontario is generally really wonderful and I am in my car and through the checkout in no time. Last week I had to wait in line for two people (not Gold) to finish up until I could see an agent for a minor tweak in my reservation. When you are not Gold, it takes forever to finish the paperwork and the two people were struggling with the decision to buy the whole tank or just fill it up before hand and what the insurance would or wouldnt cover. If you have to stop at the desk, make sure you book a minimum of 30 minutes to wait in line. Hertz is a popular spot for the novice car renters. Dont know if that is understaffing or great personal service. When I got to the counter, the agent was gruff but solved my issue quickly. Watch your bills as charges you didnt know about can get added on the final if you dont check it out.

Please note though: Vehicle substituted from the one quoted within my original reservation was underpowered to the point where it is a hazard for use when merging into traffic onto the freeway, (where the onramp onto the freeway is uphill). Hertz needs to provide better rental vehicle choices, especially when we initially rent a higher cost / higher occupant / luggage capacity vehicle, (better anticipated). (Series L requested, but the provided rental was a lower class vehicle and was substituted without pre-warning me by email, etc.) {Saving vehicle money to the the point where a vehicle is a hazard to operate on the highway - Is not acceptable or wise in my opinion. I noticed the car they gave me had quite a few scratches on it. When I got out of the car and voiced my concern to the attendant, he was very rude and got in my face telling me to get back in my car. I called a manager over to discuss and was asked why I got out of my car and my response was to identify the damage to the car which happens to me on a previous rental and I was charged for damage I did not create. The attendant was literally in my face yelling at me. Hertz needs to get their customer service in order. I did not deserve that treatment and will think twice about renting there again.

We called the repair hotline and described the problem. We also told them that we were renting car for about two weeks. They charged me twice(2 different times) for gas and I have to email my credit card statement showing the gas I filled about 2miles on Heaven street to clear the charges. Comment: Doing a road trip I requested the Mustang GT convertible and my local Hertz did not have one so the 800 number directed me to a hertz and hour away. It was on my way so I accepted the reservation, when I got there they did not have the GT convertible, they said they never had one and gave me a standard convertible, I could have rented this from my Hertz. I had to pay an extra $50 in parking for my car while I used the rental due to them not having the car I reserved. I am a Hertz Gold member since 1998 and I am not happy with the service I have been getting for the past couple years.

Comment: My expierience was horrible.I will be staying away from Hertz.I spoke to everyone who was working when I picked up the vehicle.They were very unhelpful and rude to me and my wife. Tried to get the reservation in my wifes name. Had to cancel the reservation which was 100$ so she could drive it! Called the support and they were supposed to transfer me instead dropped the call twice! Finally on the third try someone was helpful enough to send me to the right person. Which saved me from a 100$ cancellation fee. Also note that if I would of waited 5 more minutes according to Hertzs terms and conditions I would of assumed 100% of the cost, not just the 100$ cancellation.Finally when the reservation was in my wifes name I was told that she would be billed for 205$ and so I added 210$ to my bank account thats in her name (since I couldnt pay for it and card had to be in her name only), waited in line AGAIN. Card kept getting declined and so I added 200 more dollars because the staff said the charges were for 405$. Called my bank again (Im traveling for crying out loud so Im not in front of my home computer to make the transfer!) and confirmed the declined charges were for 405$. I go back to the counter AGAIN and card gets declined and the person said now it was 465$, so again I called my bank and added 100 more dollars to the account. Went up to the counter again, this time the line was longer, and card kept getting declined. Called the bank again and said screw it Ill just add 800$ to my account. Im dealing with a crying autistic kid at this point so I send my wife up to deal with it, and she gets told that the computers went down so now we have to do everything by paper, so screw the whole 2 hours I just spent dealing with transferring reservations and time spent dealing with my bank.We get the run around when I go to pick out the car because its on paper and not in their system. The person tries to sell me on a 30$/day Mercedes upgrade, a 10 minute dialogue, while struggling with my autistic son, to find out its not 30$ a day, its 30$ MORE A DAY!Total it took 3 hours to get out of there and 3 hours less I got to spend my vacation with my family.Thanks for nothing Hertz!Horrible experience.I regret my decision to deal with this company and recommend anyone else to avoid this company at all costs. They try to rip you off when youre already dealing with stress from travel and God forbid if you decide to cancel because of your regret because theyll make you regret not using their service.Not to mention when I went to drop it off it was 20 minutes to drop off the car to get out of it, and 40 more minutes standing in the Gold Member line.

We were told wed have satellite radio, this also didnt mean anything because we didnt have it. Ended up getting directed to the wrong car. Turned around, got in the next wrongly directed car, then they just changed the computer system to show that the car we were in was the right one.When we got back and I told the person how useless Hertz is and that Ill never be using them again, there was another customer who was being told that he had to go back inside to fix the error in his reservation, oh, and he was also a Gold member.Never again!
