Comment: Horrible experience!!! We rented a vehicle and my son left his device in the glove compartment, we called same day within hours of returning the vehicle. Manager was so rude stated it was already rented out and to wait till it returned,that he would call us . He also added he could not contact the new renters of the device left in the car. Turns out those renters returned the vehicle and he never contacted us,he showed no empathy whatsoever. No customer service so unprofessional.

Comment: This place has changed. I’ve been doing business at this location for 5 years. The old branch manager was great! I always felt taken care of and I was always treat fairly. The newest branch manager is completely incompetent, unfair, argumentative, and unreasonable.It’s unfortunate but the folks here at this location have a distorted view the good people of San Bernardino and they feel like they have to be extremely hard-nosed to deal with the “type” of people in this community. One of the employees said that customers service is different in San Bernardino, like the people here are less than human or something.Anyway, I’m never doing business here again. They make up rules and are not willing to abide by their own written policies. They simply can’t be trusted. Over spent at least $100,000 with hertz over the last 10 years and I never experienced anything like this. I wonder if it would have been different if I booked under my presidents circle account. So to make a long story short I arrived 45 minutes after my reservation time and the attendant said that there is a 30 minute grace period (I never heard of such a policy). I showed them the documented hertz policy that said there is an hour grace period and she looked confused and still argued they the grace period is 30 minute. At the end of the day the car I reserved was rented out already and I was going to have to pay more for the car that was available. I was there well within the documented grace period. I’ve never experienced anything think this at a hertz location. I asked to speak to the manager and she said that they was no supervisor on site. She was caught in a lie when the assistant manager walked in a few minutes later. He had been there the whole time. In fact I saw him when I walked in. The lack of integrity runs through everyone I encounter at this location. I was very disappointed.At the end of the day the other option was $40 more that the original price. Not a big deal, but my concern is integrity and abiding buy printed policies that the company shares. I highly recommend avoiding this place if at all possible.

Comment: Horrible customer service by Damian the branch manager and all the staff. I travel for work very often and always use Hertz I have never had a problem with them until today. I will no longer be using this company thanks to Damian. All Hertz will do is say they’re going to forward to local management but do nothing to fix the problem with their staff.Was waiting for Damian for almost 2 hours to return from the airport to assist me because the staff “couldn’t help”. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! I HAD TO LEAVE SINCE AFTER WAITING FOR HOURS DAMIAN NEVER SHOWER UP AND AS SOON AS I LEFT THEY TRIED TO CHARGE MY CARD FOR ALMOST $500 WITHOUT EVEN REACHING OUT TO ME FIRST. WILL BE CONTACTING THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU. While I was waiting there, a lot of the people that showed up had problems with their rentals as well. They had appointments and had to wait over an hour to get help. If you show up a few minutes late, they will give your rental to someone else without contacting you first.

Comment: Horrible customer service. I reserved a car and it was unavailable. The next time I foolishly reserved a car, I was an hour late and they gave away my car without calling me. However they were willing to give me a Chevy for an upcharge. I called corporate, hels for a half hour and they said the other Hertz agency in SB had cars. I tried to reach the other Hertz agency to confirm and their answering equipment hung up twice. I drove to the other agency, and they said they had no cars and could only offer me the same upgrade price. If you want to talk to a customer service agent youd better have a half hour to spare. Horrible, horrible service. I can see why they went bankrupt.

Also, I received a phone call informing me of this just 15 minutes before my reservation time. This lack of communication and unavailability caused unnecessary stress. Im dissatisfied with the service provided, which reflects poorly on their management. While I intend to continue doing business with Hertz, Ill avoid their San Bernardino location in the future. Additionally, Ill make a point to call two days ahead of my reservations to ensure vehicle availability

Comment: I had an extremely disappointing experience with this service provider. Despite arriving at the location four minutes before they opened, it took over an hour for me to get a car. This was especially frustrating because I even had to make a reservation at the location online for 8:30 to ensure a timely pick-up, but I still wasnt able to get a car soon after paying. To make matters worse, a person who appeared to be in charge dismissed my 8:30 appointment and insisted that I wait because there were other customers with appointments. The lack of assistance from the person giving orders in the back room only added to the poor service. It is evident that this place needs to improve their time management skills and hire more staff to better serve their customers.

Comment: I always hope that the world will be finally proven wrong about the stereotypes that exist in regards to customer service in the city of San Bernardino, but unfortunately this was NOT one of those times. Had a trip planned for my girlfriend & I for her birthday tomorrow. Got everything ready, a hotel, tickets for the show for one of her favorite artists up in San Francisco. I even pushed back a flight for work two days so we could go, I literally immediately have to come back Thursday morning and fly out to PA by the afternoon. The last part of the trip was locking down the rental and something to save gas because the trip was so expensive already. I had it all booked, these dbags call me about 45 min before I have to pick up the car, right before closing at 5 and tell me they got no EV. I say screw it I go anyway hoping that they will have something compact but no they don’t, Malibu’s and suburbans. And as I’m looking around the lot the dude has the audacity to ask me what I’m looking at because the cars I see out there aren’t for me.. I have no attitude and hertz screws me and this guy has the audacity to give me an attitude. At this point I say, this is what reservations are for so we avoid this and he says “well things happen.” With attitude again, there was words in between where he was rude but as you see I’ve written a lot. I left before something worse happened because I am furious. I’m never using Hertz again.

Comment: I booked online from the car dealership and when I showed up I was told that I had to have had a reservation for more than 24 hours if using a debit card. Despite explaining that I was coming from a car dealership I was told that there was nothing they could do. Manager Damon Bryant was at the store but not “available” to resolve the situation. This 24 hour reservation is not the policy at any other car rental place I have been to. It was not included in any of the language I saw in my online reservation. There were other customers in the lobby upset that there were no cars available that matched their reservation as well. Shoddy customer service like this is why businesses in San Bernardino have such bad reputations. I can promise that Hertz, especially this location, will never get a dime of my money.

Worst customer service ever!!Accompanying the shadiness was a lack luster care for their customers as they would be in the middle of a customer and walk away for 20 minutes while they converse personally and waste the five people in lines time. The manager was sarcastic and dismissive. He was extremely rude. This place is horrible and if I could give them negative stars I would!!!!They made a lady that had been waiting there for four hours cry she drove two hours to get a suv she was promised and then they didn’t have it available which means they didn’t properly manage their inventory. Comment: If l could give San Bernardino Airport Hertz Car Rental a grade, it would be an F. We made our reservation in March for rental pick up in August. We show up, and theres no vehicle. And the manager there needs a lot more training in customer service!!! Didnt in any way try to help us out with our reservation. He just blamed Hertz . He needs a new job its not customer service because he couldnt even pick up the phone and call another Hertz to even try to help. We finally left after seeing that he could careless. I called Fontana Hertz, and they took excellent care of us. It took them 5 minutes, and we were on our way. The vehicle was perfect, clean, and customer service was above excellent!!!!! From now on, that will be our place to go whenever we need a rental.Thanks, Fontana Hertz, keep up the excellent job!!!

I waited over 40 minutes to be told they did not have a vehicle available and it would be another 1-2 hour wait. Already late for my work meeting with two toddlers in tow I spent another hour on the phone to be told they could do absolutely nothing for me other than send a coupon for a future reservation. Treat your employees better and don’t create reservations without the means necessary to accommodate them.

When I get there staff took 45 minutes to check me in then offered me a Chevy volt. The car wasn’t even fully charged. I told them I could not use an electric car since it takes too long to charge. Not to mention this vehicle wasn’t even fully charged. They didn’t care. They basically told me I reserved under manager special and they get to choose which vehicle they give me and were not going to give me a gasoline car. I had to cancel the transaction. Even doing that was a hassle. Hertz is not what it used to be.

We vacuumed the vehicle before we dropped it off but because there was dog hair on our clothes that got on the seat, he wanted to charge us $80. The car was given to us in subpar condition with a dirty exterior and dirt, stains and lint on the interior. I advise you take your own pictures of the interior because his pictures quality showed no detail on the interior.After almost 2 hours we are finally free and will NEVER do business or recommend anyone here again.

(I had gotten there more than 15mins early, btw). And the fact that we cannot park our private vehicle in the rather spacious Hertz parking lot while their rental is in our possession is flat-out ridiculous and really inconvenient--I only needed to leave my car there for 2 days, but apparently that was too big of a problem for them, and I would risk having my car towed if I left there overnight. Comment: I reserved a vehicle under the Managers Special. When the staff was pulling up my reservation, I didnt realize which vehicle they were putting me in. My experience has always been on a more personal level. Ive been a regular for over 10 years. The reason I kept going back was because of the phenomenal service the staff gave. This time was so different. The lady who assisted me was very nice, as was a lot of the staff there. There was a gentleman who seemed irritated, going in and out of the office, the whole time I was getting checked out. Once I signed every thing and was handed the key, the lady told me where the vehicle was. Never once offered to walk out with me. I thought, theyre that busy, no problem. I walked towards my rental and realized it was a monster. Lol. Large SUV, seats 7, and Im the only one who would be in it 95% of the time. What in the world?! So I went back in and asked if they could put me in something smaller, the manager (I eventually realized was the irritated one) told me that that was the managers special and if I wanted something smaller he would charge me for it. I told him I dont need anything that big (I was driving to Arizona, that day). He went on, in a stern voice, what car do you want? Pick a car and I will change it and have to charge you for the change. Wow! Great customer service sir! He then told me the only other vehicle that was available as a manager special was the white truck. I turned around looking for a white truck (heard a giggle from the staff member) and only saw a commercial type truck. Silly me for expecting great customer service! I eventually went forward with that rental. He tried to sell me gasoline, I eventually told him no thank you. I can gas up cheaper in Arizona. I dont know what his deal was that day, I hope hes had better days since. A good chance I will take my business elsewhere after that experience.

We come here for the convenience/location proximity to our home, and have been screwed one too many times.1) Very rarely will you ever get anyone to answer the phone!2) When you confirm a price/car ON THE PHONE and drive over, the car with the agreed upon price suddenly isnt available even though the conversation and arrival took place in less than an hour. Theyre busy, but not that busy!3) When you make a reservation online, its still not guaranteed that the car/price will be there. Your only option will be to get a more expensive car or get a refund which is beyond aggravating. Especially when time, cost, and plans are already set and in motion.4) they DO NOT HAVE A KEY DROP OFF BOX or spare keys to open their cars if you lock the keys inside to drop off early. You will have to drop the car off during their hours of operation.5) There are NO PUBLIC restrooms so if your child has to go youre out of luck. No exceptions!6) Theres not enough public seating inside. Only one small bench and it is sweltering outside.7) Expect a long weight. It takes a long time to get all the paperwork in order as well as the car prepared/checked.Basically, to say that this Hertz facility is inadequate is an understatement. I highly encourage you to go elsewhere. I know we will.

He said yes, they have drop-off service for all sites. But the day when we return the vehicle, we couldnt find any box on that site. Thus, I took another phone call to argue the situation, the customer services resolution is to return it tomorrow morning, and they are sorry for the false information so they wont charge extra fees, and will contact the store to inform them.But when I turned in the keys tomorrow morning, the front desk said that no one called, and insisted to charge an extra day.I called the customer service Lorma for help, if I have the correct information, I would have returned it on time, but she kept blaming me for returning it late, and not willing to help. Her supervisor Alice is also not willing to help, she said she can provide me a $50 coupon for the next trip.But excuse me maam, what you have stolen is a $98 not a $50...that may be not much money but sure is a lot for a student...You cant give someone words at first and dont admit it in the end, blaming the customer for returning the vehicle late due to your own behalf.This is exhausting and disappointing.

Comment: I appreciate good customer service and it started with being greeted and acknowledged upon entry of the building. Alejandro was our representative, he was fast, efficient and his positive attitude was contagious regardless of the fun fact that he upgraded our vehicle at no extra charge, not even taxes. Our car didn’t have any problems and the A/C worked great. Our car was overall clean; however was due for a “detailed” cleaning; meaning there was a-lot of dust in the cracks, crevices and larger areas that aren’t seen. On a scale from 1 to 10 the smell of the car was an 8. Not a bad smell but slightly noticeable. ( I have an acute sense of smell, to someone else a smell might not have been noticeable). We’ve been renting with Hertz for years, we’ve always had a good experience and have appreciated the different personalities we’ve encountered renting with them. I called hertz in regards to this issue and they made me wait for 40 minutes saying they needed to check my file. The alternator is not working properly which allows the engine to stay running meaning there is a starter issue. The car is beeping saying Please check the starter system. That has nothing to do with knowing how to turn on a car properly. David, the manager, was very demeaning and started giving me attitude when I had let him know it wasnt a simple issue. I extended the rental and returned the car on time. When I arrived, the employee told me to just leave the keys. Later on, I get an invoice saying the car was late and charging me an extra $456 on top of what was prepaid. I’ve called customer service multiple times and was given different reasons why I was charged each time. After spending a long time on the phone I was told I would receive a refund. It’s been almost two months and no refund has been issued. I called back and asked to speak to a supervisor and was told none were available. I’ve never had an issue with enterprise or Budget rentals. Never will I rent from such a bad company who could care less about their customers. If you value your money, rent elsewhere.

Comment: I would just say take a pic of how much gas there is in the car before you leave. They try to say it had over a lil half a tank when it was barely a quarter tank . Lady said she checked it herself this and that before I received it. I know how much there was when I received it and the car wasnt even clean like the other ones.

Comment: The manger on duty this afternoon has no concern for customer server. I was over 15 minutes early for my scheduled pickup, yet I didnt get offered help until 10 minutes after my appointment. The manager sent one girl on break rather than helping me, and she had a girl take over her work while she took a conference call, rather than help me. My scheduled appointment should have been a quick in out so they easily could have taken me, especially since no one else was waiting. I went to Enterprise instead.

Comment: This is the worst Hertz ever! I arrived right at 8AM and they still werent opening until 5 minutes after opening. Not only that but there were 6 people to 1 worker. There was only 2 seats available to sit so everyone else was standing around. Their system was down and only 1 employee knew how to do transactions through paper instead of the computer. I ended up getting my car at 9:30AM. When I was returning it, their system was still down after a week! Very unprofessional. Worst car rental experience, never again. Better off paying a little bit more for Enterprise.

Comment: Dane, assistant Manager was very unhelpful and not professional. I asked him to help me with my flat tire, for all my questions he replied NO, NO, NO.I cant do that, I cant do this, I cant do anything except put some air in your flat tire SO YOU CAN DRIVE to SHOP and fix your tire, gave me a favor which I paid for (insurance)I paid almost 800$ for Mercedes C300 and this kind of service they provide.Thank you Hertz. Never Ever Again.

Comment: Wasted $40 on Uber rides going to and from Hertz location in San Bernardino when their pick up I had called for an hour in advance was a no show, When I had finally got there I was refused the rental I have reserved and prepaid for online the previous day. And lets not forget about the only employee that was there putting in her lunch order with here co-worker while I was trying to get a hold of customer service to resolve the issue. Thanks Hertz

Comment: Had an appointment for pick up waited an hour no one showed up. Got dropped off at the location by a dealership shuttle and had to wait in line for another hour. The car reeked of fast food, the dials were greasy and there were ketchup stains everywhere.Upon returning the car I had to wait on the agent to clean a cars windshield/windows before being seen.Horrible experience.

Comment: I had to go there to exchange a rental and had call the night before to teIl them I would be coming. when I got there I was told to have a seat while they checked the car inaproximently 30 minutes I was told since the gas tank was not on full that they could fill it for $9.83 a gallon or just go somewhere and fill it, which I did reluckantly as I was doing them a fovor since I was not compansated for having to swap out this car to begin with.. oh the gas was 2 1/2 gallons short of full and was treated rudely and was told it was only half full ! anyway after returning from fueling up the car, I had to wait another 20-25 minutes before I was givin another car.. It was not a plesant experance, I will go back to enterprise for any future rental needs,, they are much more professional and curtious !

Comment: Really wish there was a zero star review but unfortunately 1 star is the lowest. in person they seemed somewhat nice but over the phone the service was horrible. I purchase my vehicles thru moss bros dealerships and unfortunately they are contracted with HERTZ for rental vehicles Ive had a few rentals from riverside and Moreno valley and never had any issues. But somehow San Bernardino doesn’t seem to care about customer service. I called to reserve a month long rental while moss worked on my jeep and they said they don’t reserve vehicles for moss rentals. Come the day of service and they are out of inventory for Moss rentals but are expecting a lot of returns thru out the day so recommend a check before making a trip out there again. I call and get no answer until i literally call back after back about 3 times SHE then proceeds to put me on hold and drops my call twice. Finally the 3rd time i pointed out that the call kept dropping so she proceeded to keep me on hold for 40 minutes past they’re closing time and then dropped the call again leaving me unable to call back since its after hours.
