Comment: I reserved a 2 week rental and the car was filthy at pick up. I offered to come back in 1 hr to give them time to clean it. It was still filthy when I picked it up later but it’s hard to deal with just one associate when there is a line of customers, so I took off. Upon returning the car I was charged for an extra hour!

Contacted customer service was told supervisor would call me back it’s 4days later no call back. I was told I can email corporate. I reserved a Tesla and was give a jeep compass the jeep didn’t even apple play make it make sense how you reserve a Tesla and an old school jeep compass?? This location you can not get in contact with anyone in the store but simply rerouted. If you call customer service you’re routed to an outsourced member not in the us. Absolutely the worst customer service I now know why no one uses hertz you can keep you “certificate” I’ll take my experience to tiktok and hope it goes viral so ppl are aware of the customer service hertz doesn’t give ! Comment: Since my car was in the shop, I rented a car from Hertz. To begin, the car I was given was filthy and when I complained about it, they offered to take it across the street and have it washed. Seeing that I had to get to work, I declined the offer and stated that the car should have been washed prior to my picking it up.I immediately had problems with the vehicle as it would stall at most every red light and I would have to restart it. On the occasion that it didn’t stall, it would begin to shake as I sat idled at a red light. It became such a problem that I drove it to and from work only, fearful that it would completely break down.When I returned the car and explained to Hertz the problem I had experienced, the rep told me that that particular model (Elantra) had been recalled just that very day because of that exact mechanical issue. They never even offered me a discount for my inconvenience.This is the first and last time I rent with Hertz.I only rented with them because of the discount I was supposed to receive through AAA. The aggravation wasn’t worth the small discount I may have received. From now on I’m crossing the street and renting with Enterprise. I’ve rented with them several times and have never had a bad experience!

Comment: Bad experience at this hertz, will not be returning. rented a full size car from them, wanted to use my girlfriends credit card to pay for it, but they refused because i was going to be the primary driver. had to pay a deposit and put it on my card. the guy working here was super unprofessional, he had dirty old dress shoes held together with duck tape, not even joking. he also yelled at me because i walked in the store for like 30 seconds and hadnt put a mask on yet. after like 45 minutes of waiting, they put us in an absolutely filthy ford taurus with sticky leather seats and cookie crumbs all over the dash. then some lady who i found out later was the branch manager got angry at me because i didnt blindly back the car out on to busy thousand oaks blvd when it was rush hour traffic. she literally was like yelling out of the window of a gmc yukon that i was good and to keep blindly reverrsing this car in a crowded parking lot full of SUVs and cars. sorry i didnt reverse at like 15 mph lady, i didnt wanna have to pay a collision cost on the rental car. at least the car mechanically was ok. the saving grace was i was able to turn in the car after hours and not have to deal with the weird employees here. its a shame hertz survived bankruptcy, i think the entire outfit it a big joke.

I called Hertz customer service and after 30 minutes wait they spent another 15 minutes solving the problem and telling me that the charges will be reversed. Of course neither were the charges reversed nor did they stop on my card......they continued. Got to location and new COVID hours were posted on door, CLOSED Sunday. What?! I can see the van parked out front meaning they’re had my reservation information and DID NOT bother to call to tell me to come get it earlier. HORRIBLE SERVICE. New hours were not posted online either. Praying we can get it first thing tomorrow morning. This will delay us 4-5+hours and we already have hotels lined up that are too late to cancel. 12 hours of driving tomorrow and it is not going to start well. Already notified Priceline and Hertz Corporate. They could not locate another vehicle. An office worker showed up and I asked her if she could contact the manager, “No he is off today.” Nice for him; meanwhile we are screwed. Not sure what the benefit of having a membership is if this is the service you get.

Comment: Was greeted by Hertz employees properly dressed in protective outer wear (face masks and gloves) and who were following the six foot social distancing policy in effect. They sprayed sanitizer all over the inside and outside of the car including extra on the door handles and console buttons of the car right in front of me while I waited in the lobby. Both employees were very friendly and explained the rental agreement and extras to me clearly. They showed me the basic operations of the vehicle, ignition, fueling, break release, trunk and gas opener, etc. Both employees made me feel very confident in being able to jump right into a brand new vehicle and drive off safely. Thank you to the two employees at the Hertz HLE on Thousand Oaks Blvd., in Thousand Oaks, CA on 3/24/2020. Equally as good was the female employee who assisted me on my drop off at Hertz HLE in downtown Santa Cruz, CA on 3/25/2020. I sincerely thank Hertz for being open for business during the CA pandemic and our shelter in place orders.

After renting a car because my personal one was totaled, I returned my car early after closing time using the key drop (I was assured this was fine). After 2 days, I had no confirmation the car was returned and the money I would be reimbursed. When calling to check up on this, employees were not only unhelpful in solving this problem but extremely rude. Is not common practice to email a receipt of the price your charged, confirming it was returned?? And on top of that, if a customer calls to confirm this, should employees respond in a rude manner as if I’m being unreasonable? HORRIBLE horrible. horrible.

I was told when I rented the car that the definition of “excessive pet hair” would be if I looked like I left an entire dog’s worth of hair in the car. while my dog sheds I DID NOT leave that much hair behind...it could have been handled with a normal vacuuming. They wanted to charge me $150 for “detailing”. This is absurd and Hertz just lost a 20 yr Gold Service customer. Took just shy of two hours to pick up a car For a reservation made months in advance. No one knows what theyre doing. Called multiple times spoke to multiple people in the branch after having place reservation with corporate to confirm the rental terms etc. Even went in the day before to try to confirm things so that I could have a smooth pick up the next morning. No one was able or willing to look up my reservation to confirm anything. had to do the paperwork three times before I left and then called again to correct what they told me because they quoted the wrong price and length of time. didnt know the terms of anything. I would have walked out of this wasnt needed for the trip. Good luck if you choose to use them.

I happened to have come at a very busy time, and a lot of the locations cars were out for maintenance down the road. They offered to upgrade me to a larger car for the inconvenience, however I had to decline based on the fuel economy. It was a bit of a wait, but the staff members there were very apologetic and flexible. The same team greeted me when I returned a few days later.

When asked if they have any alternatives for the gold members they told me good luck in finding another car. Comment: - Agent at the counter was friendly and very helpful since she tried to accommodate my needs. Since I had to wait almost 1 hr, I got a free upgrade from mid size to full size- Car was good; however after waiting for 1 hr, I was in a rush and I did not notice the car smell like cigarettes and other substances until my family got in the car. I called Hertz and they apologized. I didnt go back to change the car since i was already late for my trip. After using 3 air fresheners smell wear off. I booked the car with Hertz because it has a better deal than any other company but now I am not sure if it was worth it

Comment: I wish I could give these guys zero. I reserved more than a week in advance to avoid last minute hassle. My scheduled was at 8:30 am to pickup the car. I called 7:55 am to make sure I get the car and go to work. Lady picked up the call and promised me to send someone to pick me up. Nobody showed up, again called at 8:25 am, again promised but nobody showed up. Finally requested UBER and went by UBER to Hertz office. Staff told me, we dont have car and going to take 15-20 mins.These all staffs lie and stupid people. They wasted me an hour and also money.Please do not go to them. Please do not use their car.Customer satisfaction is very bad.

Comment: Very poor resource management. It took me almost 2 hours to only return a car. There is a discrepancy between Expedia and Hertz, they do not honor Expedia deals. Staff is very unfriendly and lack customer skills. On a Memorial Day weekend there was just one staff while the other went to get a car for a customer who was already waiting (about hour and half and he had an international flight to catch), only to find the associate had taken the car for oil change. There was no manager we could report this to, we just ended up waiting and waiting....I am not going to back here again.

Comment: Rented a Minivan again to move college student home... have used a Nissan Quest (just 3-stars), and a Toyota Sienna(5-stars).This time ended up with a Kia Sedona. 1.5 stars is generous. Size was an issue- 3-6 cu. ft. Smaller than the other two really showed; comfort was lacking; and the technology was less than spectacular... only 2 DC charging outlets, and only one actually worked.Hertz, please keep the quality level of you vehicles up to you normal standards.Why not try the Honda Odyssey? Or at least more Siennas.

We went right over to Enterprise after we left Hertz and they had us in a car in less than 30mins. We highly recommend using Enterprise. Enterprise had fast and wonderful customer service.

Comment: Make sure you check out the bills after the rental. They will find every way to tag on extra charges. Any discrepancies? Forget about disputing with the manager. He said, citing fine prints in the contract, he wanted to go by the company rules to keep his job, not thinking bad customer experience or losing customers is another way to lose his job. Must be an inexperienced manager. Dont want to worry about this? Check out other options. There are two Avis and one Enterprise nearby.

Comment: A disaster!First experience (or quasi experience)After booking the car I walked to the Hertz location only to discover that my car was in the middle of the lot with many cars blocking it. I called customer service and the only thing they could do was to cancel my reservation (luckily I didnt have to go anywhere but was just trying the service...). That should have probably been enough to convince me to walk away from this business but unfortunately I decided to give it another try...Second experienceThis time I receive an email stating that I have $25 driving credit with Hert 24/7. I think it can be a good occasion to try it again. I book on Sunday afternoon go to the location with a bit of apprehension of finding my car blocked but this time it is good to go! I drive around, run a quick errand and bring it back in 50 minutes. So far so good. Unfortunately after five days a customer service rep leaves me a message saying that I should extend my reservation when I keep the car for so long....Panicking I call Hertz 24/7 back and a customer representative tells me that I didnt push the button to end the reservation but that I dont have to worry and I will be charged only for the time booked. Unfortunately I then see a pending charge of $40 (it would be $65 but I have the famous $25 driving credit). I call them back and another rep basically tells me the only reason I am not charged $1440 which is what is owned after five days at the hourly rate, is that they are gracious because it is my first rental. So I am charged for the day until midnight instead of one hour.Some questions for Hertz 24/7:1) How about communicating CLEARLY to push the button at the end of the reservation?2) Why do we need to push the button anyhow since the car has GPS and Hertz 24/7 knows when it is back in the lot?3) How about, if there is a returning problem on a $14 reservation calling the customer after a few hours rather than after a few days when the bill is $1440?There will be no third experience for me but if you try them remember to push the button!
