They have special offer on the car and book the car and I drove with Uber for 30 minutes to pick up the car when I get there they say they don’t have it and they want to give me regular car with a regular price which is double the price they put on the Expedia website when I ask him why he said this is what they have. I told him why you keep the offer Expedia if you don’t have it, you didn’t give me an answer so it’s kind of a bite on Expedia to get you to the office looking for the special offer and then they say you need to get the regular price kind of scammer They have a special prices. Once you are there they say they don’t have the special so they want to take regular price which is the double price of the offer kind of scammers be careful with them.

Comment: The Assistant manager who helped me at the Signal Hill location on 01/05/23 (I wished I remembered his name) was so pleasant and helped me get me in a Tesla rental while my car was getting repaired, which was a fun experience. Turned it back in at the Whittier location because that’s where the Assistant manager worked at. Overall this was my first experience renting with Hertz and I will definitely come back! Thank you!

Comment: If I could give zero stars, I would. This has been the absolute worst car rental experience I have ever had. I was told that they do not do pick-ups when I was told by an employee at another Hertz branch that they do. When I took an Uber to get my vehicle, the lady I spoke to when making the reservatioin said I would get a $20 Uber credit. Upon arrival, the staff said they knew nothing about that and did nothing. The staff member and I then walked aroudn the vehicle, he went over everything, including the gas tank being 1/2 full and told me to ensure I returned it as such. I did. When I received my invoice, I was charged a $60 FOP fee, which they claim I agreed to. I did not, nor was it ever mentioned during my rental process. Customer service refuses to help me. They say its my fault and wont reverse the charge. I will never rent from Hertz again. Absolute zero customer service or care whatsoever.

Comment: Bad customer service, I placed a rental reservation before reading these reviews so next day called before to make sure my rental will be available in time for my 10am. I was told car was in stock but not guaranteed by my pick up time, he blamed it on the holiday but based off all these bad reviews it seems they have a holiday everyday with this same issue. All they had to do was give me an exact time to pick up the rental, not this we will be ready when we are ready service, as customers we have our day hectic as it is with work and coordinating a drive over because we dont have a car, we need exact times, get your business in order. I was also looking to book for a month since my car is getting a recall fix, they lost good business.

The chairs are torn and ugly. The walls are dingy and dirty. The floors were dirty as well. Being a company that deals with the public, they should invest in creating a pleasant and inviting environment. Because of these issues, a 3 star rating is generious.

I continue to have my mind blown at the level of service, friendliness and outright fun that this Hertz location in Whittier offers.I have been going to this Hertz location periodically for over 12 years. It used to be good; but it got really great a couple years ago, and I always look forward to coming here because the people that work here make me feel like family. It reminds me of that old TV show starring Ted Danson- where people enjoyed visiting an establishment because everyone knew their name; and they were always glad you came. Thats exactly how I feel.Edwin who is the manager is not only a very cool and charismatic individual, but is also absolutely, a great customer service orientated person. He seems to always be happy, and I always feel great when I leave. Another phenomenal employee is David. David is always prompt and focused; and super nice. Makes a person feel good. Makes me feel valued.Last time I was there, I met a new employee, Corey. Another great one. Took me out to the Tesla ( which Edwin upgraded me to for only $2 more than the little gas car I had reserved- that was nice), and showed me all the features. I had never been in a Tesla before, and I was a bit overwhelmed at seeing the unfamiliar technology. Corey was patient and took his time to go over everything with me so that when I drove away I felt confident; and safe.I could give many examples of how these folks have given me exceptional service, over and over again. Suffice it to say, these are good people, the cars are clean, the service exceeds expectations, the establishment is clean, and the overall vibe is one of good times and genuine kindness. Thank you Edwin, David and Corey-keep up the GREAT work!! All of you make Whittier a better place, and are one of the reasons I am glad I live here.

Comment: Its was nice easy to set up they had the car I reserved with no wait be instars barely only because I rented the Tesla and returned it on 47% battery when I left with %50 I did charge it but I struggled to find the attachment and it was pouring rain so I was short %3 and the guy wasnt caring and on top of the car price he was not being understanding to the %3 difference and that cost me an extra $35 for those 3% battery difference. Thats insane really. I wont be going back there

Comment: ZERO if possible. I have never felt so disrespected and discriminated against walking into a business as I have felt walking into this location. Upon walking in, no one was at the front desk, just another customer waiting sitting down (which looks like he had been there a while and had already been helped)so I sit and wait for a worker to come out, then, a not so friendly worker walks out, looks right at me TWICE and does not greet me or partner, it was like we weren’t even there. Another worker eventually walks out and the guy acts as if he doesn’t know who was first and just has the other worker help us. Not to mention as other customers who walked in after us who happen to be his race, white, received a WARM welcome while we were mistreated and DISRESPECTED. Instead, he left the work to one of their black employees which we were hopeful he treat us better, but nope just the same, he had an attitude from the start due to being hungry. He tried to help us with the rental as we were mislead on what was needed to rent a car as it was our first time. Although he tried to help, his attitude throughout was degrading and awful! Thanks to this location, consider this my first and LAST time trying to do business with Hertz. They killed it for Hertz as whole! Do better on who you hire

Comment: After reading all the previous reviews submitted by other customers, I was a bit hesitant to rent from this Hertz location. I was looking for a car that would accommodate seven passengers and I could not find anything at any other location, even from other rental companies. This location had exactly what we needed, so we decided to take the risk. The reservation took a little while but it was well worth it. The gentleman who helped us (tall, wearing glasses... I dont think I caught his name, sorry!), took the time to look for the best deal he could give us and boy was it a good deal! It made me nervous at first, especially with the extra credit card hold we had to approve, but everything went smoothly. I walked out of there with the perfect car, I kept it for a few days, and the return was a breeze! I could not ask for better service. Honestly, I have no idea what all these customers with low stars are referring to. 🤷♀️

Comment: Im not one write reviews but I have to give credit where credit is due. My wife and I needed to rent a car immediately due to our second car giving out on us at a very unexpected time. We reserved a car with Hertz in Whittier and the outstanding service that was provided was second to none! Edwin went above and beyond, staying late and finding the right car for us. I know that it was late and I’m sure would rather be home, but he was very patient, kind, and understanding to our emergency situation. I know that there are many car rental companies that we have to choose from but because of Edwin, Hertz will from now on always have our business. We have lots of family coming in over the summer from out of town and they will all definitely be renting a car from this location.Edwin, thank you so much for making our difficult situation a bit more bearable. I was too late to return the vehicle on time so I brought it back the next day. I was willing to accept the late fee and even a different rate for the extra day. Hertz decided to double my rate for every day I had the rental because they could costing me hundreds extra on top of the late fee. This is very wrong and Ill make sure I use other car rental businesses from now on.

Comment: So our insurance company State Farm arranged for us to have a rental car with Hertz due to an accident we were in. We recieve a text from Hertz saying our car is ready, however they do not state where they are located. So after being on hold for 10 minutes to get someone from their 800 number to pick up we are finally told where they are located and provided a phone number. Upon calling them the manager indicates that they close at 5:00 and they will not let us in afterwards. We let them know we are on our way and it appears we are 1 mile away however they said they will not stay for us. Now granted this is after they sent us a text saying car will be ready, and we stayed on hold trying to find which Hertz to go to. There is a reason they are going out of business, so you may as well take your business elsewhere, as it appears the employees have clearly already checked out

Comment: When my wife and I arrived to pick up our rented vehicle, my wife inquired if the vehicle had been disinfected due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, we were told yes the vehicle had been disinfected two days prior to it arriving at the pickup location.After completing the rental agreement, we were given the keys, and left to locate the vehicle. We located the vehicle, and were we surprised by how filthy the vehicle was. We first did a walk around without the employee percent, outside the vehicle was filthy dirt dust ...the vehicle had Georgia lic plates and looked as it was driven across the country and left. The vehicle was not washed, and even filthier inside with the items (beach chair and shoe) left by the previous renter.This clearly indicated that the vehicle was not disinfected or cleaned.After pointing out the items, the employee display and attitude as if it was too much of an inconvenient for him to come out of the office and remove the items. The items were removed ... no apology ...He just walked away not to return or confirm if there were anything else in the vehicle, or taken the moment to do a formal walk around to confirm any damages.After I express my notice of the vehicle condition and dirtiness, The employee stated because of the Stay and Shelter law all car washes were closed, in which I replied that within 1/2 mile from the location is a gas station with a drive through car wash, so that excuse didn’t fly.So, my rating of this location and employee, is completely a negative one and would advise all customers to never use this location. For the simple reason.... lack of professionalism, concern and health for their customers.

Comment: I reserved a car for the July 4th weekend. This was done June 20th and received confirmation. the category was an SUV. I am a gold member and have rented from the Whittier location many times with no problem. I went the morning of July 3rd to pick up my car and I was told nonchalantly that my SUV was not available and have a minivan..we tried to call you (as he shrugged his shoulders). First of all there is a category for minivan and category for SUV. If I wanted an minivan I wouldve reserved it. Secondly this was the long weekend where there are no cars available, you dont just leave me a voice mail and say call me if you want a minivan. Since I didnt return the call, I would think the care I rented is still available. This tells me your friend came in and you gave them the car I reserved. I looked at the employee immediately walked out. I contacted another carrier AVIS who was able to provide me with a last minute SUV for the long weekend. I felt that my gold membership and being a dedicated customer had no value Hertz. That said, I will no longer rent from Hertz!

This issue hasnt been addressed with customer service or the district manager.Adam,I was extremely disappointed at the lack of customer service I received at the Whittier location. I had my reservation and no available vehicle on July 26th, 2019. I was told to wait 15minutes, maybe half hour for a rental to be returned. I waited an hour and a half with no luck and 5 of your employees could have cared less. I had a clear view of the back room and they were talking among themselves of personal matters with about 4 customers in the lobby with reservations trying to troubleshoot their own situations on trying to get rental vehicles on their own. I feel it’s a waste of labor having employees who are not being diligent in trying to remedy the situation.Please contact me since I was unable to reach you by phone or text. As a longtime Hertz customer we need to discuss this situation.Thank you,

One is either taking a lunch break or dropping off customers to their drop off point and the other is helping customers. So expect to wait, being that there is only one agent attending to the customers with a rental or return. Be careful with them trying to charge you a smoking fee when you return the rental. Im not even a smoker!

Comment: First off, I have service dogs and read VERY CLEARLY that I am allowed to travel with them. I didnt this time but i have fur almost always on me. Its something that cant be helped. When returning the car, i was told that i was going to be charged a 300 fee for them to vacuum it out. But since it was raining, THEIR wash was closed so either i pay the 300, or take it myself to vacuum it out. I am now soaked from head to to based off a lie. No where in my pamphlets nor site does it say anything in regards to pet hair. Comment: My go to rental place when visiting SoCal. The Hertz staff is always polite and dont over push by trying to get me to upgrade or rent me the entire fleet. The facility is very clean and easy to get to. My most recent rental experience was fantastic. I was able to get in and out in a very reasonable about of time. (Thanks Hector!!) I was also able to extend my rental car at a very reasonable rate (Thanks John!!). I will return to rent a car again.

Comment: Hertz kicked my ass, promise me a full-size SUV call them about 4 times to confirm, got over there and theyre trying to stick me in a midsize, Nissan Pathfinder, things got heated up, and he kept saying its the same size as an explorer, I didnt ask for an Explorer I ask for a Tahoe Yukon Expedition, kids are too tall to stick in anything else for a little trip, finally my wife said can you call another place he called down the street to Pico Rivera, theyre able to get me a Infiniti something, full-size SUV, and then he wanted to charge me 80 bucks a day for insurance, are you crazy or something? Infinity was a 2017, nowhere as good as a Yukon or Tahoe, kind of stiff has a blind spot, but it had the room I needed so they got me . Hertz is never treated me this way must have been one of those mishaps, if you ever Rent A Car make sure you get it written in blood that you have the car you ask for, cuz they say well I didnt make the deal, it wasnt me you talked to, what the hell does that have to do with anything, its the company youre in business you have peoples lives entrusted in you, I guess some people dont know how important they are in these service jobs,

Comment: I posted a terrible review a couple of years ago when my daughter needed to rent a car. Things have changed dramatically!I reserved a mid-size SUV for 1 week. When I arrived to pick it up they only had a larger SUV but upgraded me for the original price. I extended the rental an additional week for the same rate. I returned the car at the end of the period and was checked in quickly. I was on my way in just a few minutes. I wouldnt hesitate to use Hertz the next time I need to rent a vehicle.

I do see people complaining about wait times, however thats never been the case for me personally. Ive waited maybe 5 minutes in this location and havent had any issues calling for inquires. This is definitely my preferred place for rentals.

Comment: Called to ask if I can go by at 5:10 to pick up a car I booked. The guy that answered the phone was Very unprofessional. Rude tone and just kept saying they closed at 5:00. I asked if they could make an exception. He said I told you, we close at 5:00. I will NEVER rent a car from Hertz again. It just takes one employee to lose business for businesses.
