I must say this is a very nice place different new workers here I start coming to this hotel when it was first built and doing the pandemic they have reopen a restaurant I am very particular about my food and be honest even as being a vegetarian their vegetables and fruit was very good lightly seasoned baked potatoes a variety of things to eat and the staff as well as the supervisor over the whole restaurant Darius really inspired me to come back again as being a motivational speaker license Minister traveling I would say this is a great place to come I havent been in the in the rooms in a while but from everything else youre keeping the hotel very clean!!! From:Ms. Angel Book Author
The hotel was very clean and staff was very friendly. It is a great location in Downtown Detroit. We could see Comerica Park and Ford Field directly behind our room. There is plenty of new construction coming up in the future in that area as well. We had a great time.
Stayed March 16th - 19th. Hotel room was clean and staff was friendly but am curious as to why they advertise a bar/restaurant and breakfast, but neither were open. Came back Thursday night and asked where the lounge was and were told it wouldnt be open for 3 weeks. Would have been nice to know that instead of listing it as an amenity.
Came for a volleyball tournament totally unprepared. The valet service lost keys and cars both days waited at least 45min. The room had that slow drip from the shower. They slapped some paint up and put some wallpaper up to ask a higher price donβt be fooled pick it up Hilton
When we entered the hotel and checked in a nice man greeted us and gave us recommendations on things to do in the area, when we went to our room it was clean and stocked with towels and all other amenities. The only problem with the hotel was that the parking was somewhat complicated, but that is what you get in Downtown Detroit.
Poor staff! They need help from the front desk to maintenance! Lets start with the plumbing! We finally just asked to keep the plunger! The faucet would not turn off without you needing to know the secret way to turn it off, the shower had a super slow drain, the toilet wouldnt flush down completely even after 4 flushes!!!! Towels were a premium thing even though they were clearly old and or cheap because they had strings hanging off revealing the poor absortion quality in advance! The refrigerator wasnt cold and the knob was missing! The iron had burn marks on it which stained a shirt. 1 mirror in the bathroom and 1 by the door so either you are in the leaking bathroom getting ready or standing in the cubie hole putting on your days wear!!! The staff was the best thing about the place! Despite being severely overworked they were super kind and as helpful as they could be with the car races, the wedding clients and just all of it!!!Parking - We managed to park either in the lot right outside the hotel or the one directly adjacent to the hotel.Great walking distance from the casino and several spots to eat. It is located on a main road that leads through several areas of the area. LOTS of construction and 1 way streets that can be a bit of a challenge if you are not familiar with the area so just be patient with yourself and others.
Best hotel in downtown Detroit if you are going to a Lions game or to see the tigers play 3 min walk from the hotel. The room are spacious and clean plus they give you sanitizing pads to wipe off your remote. I hate that the kitchen it closed due covid19 but Buffalo wild wings are just across the street and a boat load of other restaurants in walking distance like Savannah blue. They are right on the path of the Thanksgiving parade . Make reservations and enjoy Detroit while staying at the Hilton Garden Inn downtown Detroit.
Nice hotel, nice rooms, close to the stadiums and hiway.Website says restaurant and room service - nope, closed. Website shows a nice carry off breakfast options - nope, apples and lukewarm coffee. Fridge in my room didnt work, creamer for complimentary in room coffee was curdled. TV was really low quality.Nice place but they need work on some things.
First and foremost this is one of the friendliest Hilton property staffs I have ever experienced. So kind and helpful and made everything pleasant. Truth be told, we stayed at another Hilton property in Yukon, OK and wanted to leave the Hilton program after such an awful experience with the Home2Suites but this Hilton Garden Inn is exactly what makes Hilton a good brand.Upgraded to a suite and it was larger than the suite at the Double Tree Centraal Station in Amsterdam. The room was super clean and spacious. The room and service were great
We truly enjoyed our stay for our Downtown Staycation we planned for 4 days, 3 nights. The location was great. Staff was nice. Rooms were clean. Now, there arent many amenities. Dont stay here if you are thinking you are going to the Ritz Carlton? With that said, for the price, the location, the rooms, etc., we would definitely come back next time we plan a downtown detroit staycation or have friends visiting the city. Thanks again Hilton Garden Inn.
Good location, comfortable room but the staff could have been more welcoming. You have to pay for everything and its expensive. They dont even give you a free bottle of water. Parking is $38 when across the street its $10...No drop-off zone for those who do not wish to use their parking lot. The valet parking attendant was not very patient and forced me to leave immediately. Also, I had requested a room with a view of the mural. I got it but it was the worst possible view since I saw a lot more of the hotel machinery than the mural (see picture). As we say : Be careful what you wish for ! ;-)Last thing : Why do housekeeping knocks on the door at 10am when check-out is at noon and the do not disturb sign is on?
Hotel is located within walking distance to various points of interest, including Comerica Park and Ford Field. Paid valet parking is required, unless you want to park in someone elses pay lot. Room was fairly clean and the bed was quite comfortable. The biggest gripe I have is the cigar lounge nearby and their absolutely insane noise level. They have outdoor tents and were absolutely blaring music well past 2am making it incredibly difficult to sleep. This sounded like some techno night club, I was surprised to find out it was a cigar lounge. I was also surprised to find out it wasnt in the room next to me it was so incredibly loud! When we brought this up to the front desk they said yeah, the joys of staying downtown. Ive stayed in countless hotels downtown Detroit, even on weekends, over the past 20 years. I have never dealt with that level of noise, ever. This may not be the fault of the hotel, but if this is the sort of noise level this cigar lounge is putting out on a nightly basis, well into the morning hours, and there is no enforcement on that noise level, I would steer clear from here if you desire any sleep. If youre looking to pass out after a drunken stagger back from somewhere, its probably a great place for you.
Staff was great, and rooms were nice. There was NO water pressure in the bathroom to flush wash your hands and definitely not shower with, we stayed on the 10th floor, and the noise from outside made it IMPOSSIBLE to sleep. Wont stay there again. NOT talking slight noise, like it was in the room with you.Valet ran over curb 3 times bringing my truck up.
I would give this hotel 3.5 stars. The room was clean and had the regular amenities. Check in was longer than expected, and they didnβt have rooms ready. The rooms are not very quiet. We were in the 6th floor, and could hear street noise easily. It also didnβt help that there was construction going on right a-crossed the street. As far as the breakfast goes, itβs just a bag of grab and go breakfast. Due to short staffing the regular breakfast was not open. But, it was super helpful that the hotel was close to Ford Feild.
I enjoy staying at the Hilton when in town for events/concerts. Its within walking distance of Comerica Park, Ford Field, and Little Caesars Arena. Theres plenty of dining and bars nearby as well. The hotel is clean and is a nice place to stay for a quick getaway. The staff is accommodating, and its nice to have valet parking.
Great downtown location and I was pleased with the cleanliness of the hotel overall including the room. Bring your own K-cups if you want variety, but I love the Keurig in the room. Didnt spend much time in the room so wifi was not used. Valet was my least favorite experience during my stay.
Nice rooms, very personable staff who suggested a nice breakfast place (their restaurant was closed). While the parking is conveniently right next door in an open lot, you have to pay them $38 to valet park there, but I didnt mind. Other places with free parking just hike their room prices accordingly. The valet driver was extra nice. Downtown Detroit is a fine example of a transformed city. I am attaching a few pictures from places just a block or two from this hotel.
I requested a handicap accessible room but was not given one. When I called down to the front desk, I was informed that there were no rooms available. I then requested a shower chair & was given one but the chair was not strong enough to hold my 185 lbs frame and the bath tub that I had to sit the chair in was too steep for me to attempt to get in & out. Because the room was not handicap accessible, the bed was too high for me to get in & out and the sink was too high for me to properly use. Really bad experience and the front desk was no help. It seemed they never had a wheel chair user who has a spouse ever come to the hotel.
Friendly staff. Carpet in room was very dirty. Chose to wear shoes while in the room. Wake up screen on the tv was I am watching you. Strange for a large chain hotel. Restaurant closed due to lack of staffing. Very expensive stay for the quality of the hotel. Look for a different hotel.
Well 1st of all for a $250 room I would expect a complimentary breakfastβ¦.but I had to clean out the tub before using it!! Also the website said 12:00 but a housekeeper informed me at 10:15 that checkout was at 10:00β¦there was no mention of that during check inβ¦had issues with the cable upon arrival but staff did respond immediatelyβ¦the only reason I gave 2 stars was because of the friendly staff!!
We apologize that we did not exceed your expectations.Exceed expectations, are you serious? Your establishment fails to meet the absolute minimum definition of a hotel. We understand how loud outside noise can negatively affect our guests comfort.Dont deflect. How about the perpetual inside noise? Burnouts and subwoofers outside cant even compare to the noise from other guests. We have security that makes rounds on every floor of the hotel.Stop lying. No you dont, per your original response to my negative review.Unfortunately, some guests do violate the smoking policy and, while security may smell that, it is extremely difficult to pinpointYoure alleged security can easily pinpoint the problem. Heres a hint: let your security team focus on the noisy room, with the open door, with people overflowing into the hallway...smoking pot. When we are able to determine guests that violate the policy, we do enforce a fee and possible eviction.Give me a break.Guests stay with us for a plethora of reasons. I would not make an assumption based on how any of my guests are dressed.Goodness gracious, I cant imagine what that plethora of reasons would include...We do hope that you would consider allowing us to show you that your stay was an exceptionPretty sure it was the norm, not the exception. Doing, everything I can to discourage my company from having employees stay at this hotel in the future.
I have never had issues with a Hilton so I was surprised. The room was not stocked, with tissues obviously stuffed back into the box from another stay. Coffee station had curdled creamer, no regular coffee. The breakfast bar was closed due to staffing which isnt their fault but I wish it would have been communicated ahead of time. My brother also stayed at the hotel at the same time and he said he had no towels in his room and a guest services employee told him we only stock items Monday, Wednesday, and Friday which I thought was strange. Its not enough to say I would never stay in a Hilton again, but I definitely dont think Ill stay at this location when we come back to Greektown in the future.
Good location, Mostly good overall and to Hilton standards, 98% clean and comfortable. Negatives were room carpet was dirty (ick!) , no housekeeping service ( which was understandable with Covid) but for the 4th morning requested fresh towels and never received them. Valet parking expensive at $36/day but the valets were very friendly and accommodating. Free included breakfast was NOT - only for Gold + members - $6.95 box breakfast for all other guests.
Iβve currently been waiting over an hour to get my car from valet. There is no parking downtown Detroit but you would expect that if you pay for a hotel room, you could at least have a safe place for your car. I didnβt know that my car would not be accessible depending on what time I was checking out. It is almost 2am. I have small kids to get home to and here I am stuck at this hotel because my car is not accessible. A better system needs to be put in place ASAP! The hotelItself is great. But this parking situation ruined my whole experience. I just wanna get home! There is only one gentleman working. Itβs a busy Saturday night.
We stay in Detroit at least once a month, of the places I have stayed in the last two years (20-30 times), this was the worst experience. Mostly because of the unwillingness to help when disappointed or just the fact that maybe that just dont care about customer satisfaction. A change of rooms on a night when they were not sold out and we checked in at 3pm, should have been pretty simple
I was somewhat disappointed with this Hilton Hotel location (very close to the stadiums if youre going to a game). Several of the employees were not as friendly as some other Hiltons that Ive stayed at. Also, there was no housekeeping and other services that Ive come to expect (Covid notwithstanding). The male manager was pleasant and helpful, however, during our interactions.
When we arrived to check in, the valet staff and the front desk staff were amazing and very wonderful and professional. Reggie sending the texts through the afternoon was a welcome change from different hotels. The room was very clean and everything was stocked perfect. The right amount of towel, pillows, etc. Then the quality in service drops drastically when it comes to the night staff. When we arrived back to our room at about 8pm, everything was ok. It wasnβt until the Tigerβs game finished and other guests started arriving back to the hotel. At about 9:50 we started hearing hollering and other loud shouting in the hallways. Being next to the elevator and not being quite 10pm yet, I let it slide. By 10:15, 25 minutes later and the loud talking, laughing, and whatnot had not stopped is when I opened my door to see what was going on. I see three young men, in there early 20βs just standing in the hallway drinking beer and acting like they were at some house party and the hallway was the only place to stand. Two of them were just shirtless. I said to them that itβs after 10pm and some people had to get up early so if they could please take it to their room and not in the hallway. They stated βwe didnβt know others were trying to sleep.β And after a few minutes they sauntered away. About 20 minutes later, the loud cacophony of loud drunk women came out of nowhere and then I heard all the guys from earlier. This went on for a few minutes and when I knew it wasnβt going to quiet down again I called the front desk. I was told that the game had just let out and that it would quiet down shortly. I then told her that I doubted that since they were hanging out and drinking in the hallways. She said she would send security up. They did that only once. From about 10:45 pm to about 2:15 am, the random shouting, screaming, and other sleep shattering noises erupted from the hallways. Security only checked on this once. I know this because at 1:30 we texted Reggie back and got a lady named Tori and she said she sent security up once and they didnβt hear anything so they left. After 2:15 am, I got up and put headphones in to actually be able to get a solid amount of sleep.Knowing how the guests on our floor were, I am very confused as to why security did not do more sweeps of the area throughout the night. Especially since more and more people were appearing from the elevators.I now have to drive 5+ hours tired which is not the safest thing ever. I choose Hiltonβs for the safe assumption that I wonβt have to deal with things as if I was staying at a Motel 6 or Days Inn. Please re-train your night staff to not just do the bare minimum.
What the staff could control they did right. Larry was personable and friendly during check in and check out with everyone. We had a problem with our door that the staff took care of immediately. What they couldnt control: Greektown has gotten very rambunctious. People racing in the street at 2am; drunk people in the streets; other guests just being rude; police at every corner just a couple small blocks away because things get that rowdy. For the hotel - they do a very good job making things as smooth as they can with the area they are in.
No frills. Youβre there to sleep. Wallpaper is peeling in the rooms. The drain plug to the tub was just laying in the tub. Shower curtain was torn. Toilet seat was loose. Needs some TLC for sure. Especially forβ¨Hilton β¨Felt more like a Days-Inn.With that said, the views were solid and the staff was friendly. The rooms may be falling apart but it at least still felt clean.Would I stay there again? Probably not by choice. But if the purpose is to show up, sleep, leaveβ¦ itβll do.
Went there for a quick weekend. First off, the property is atrocious and dirty. Second, the power went out in the middle of the second night. We had to go find a new room last minute. While this may not be their fault, we have been trying for a month to get our refund on the other two nights. The manager, Reggie, has been either on vacation, unavailable, or in meetings, conveniently, for the last month. What a joke.
The reason for the two stars is the reservation was messed up when we arrived and Reggie at the front desk showed little concern. Long story, but here it is. I made the reservation well in advance for two rooms. I didnβt use any on-line booking instead I called the front desk. The reservation went well and I was booked two rooms at the AARP discount. Upon arrival is where everything went bad. Only one room was ready. Reggie says they we are really busy, nothing he could do about it, he will text me when the room is ready and what do I want to do? We are hours away from home going to the Tigers game, of course we have no choice. After the game we check in to the second room and are not on the same floor, the cost for this room is higher. Iβm irritated and getting a little loud. Reggie picks up on that and tells me that he will make adjustments, and he does but when I get the final bill I find that he has put a charge on my room. All is says is βdirect bill.β Iβm in the process of getting Hilton to explain this charge. Ok, enough ranting. Now for the positives. The rooms were great. Very spacious, clean, refrigerator and microwave. Hotel is within walking distance from various restaurants and casinos. Be aware that during this pandemic everything closes down at 10:00 pm, this includes restaurants and bars. This does not include the youth. They are pretty much active until early morning. Cars are very loud and can be heard from the hotel. Would I go here again? This is our go to hotel, close to the stadiums and Greek Town.
Pros: Hotel was clean, staff was kind as well as responsiveCons: Guests have to pay for nightly parking ($27?) and we had to make several noise complaints, although nothing helped and the noise persistedDuring our visit we stayed one night to attend a baseball game at Comerica Park. We felt safe walking from the hotel to the ball game and had no troubles.Upon arrival, I was slightly unhappy having to pay for parking considering it was in the hotels small personal parking lot, and the hotel room cost us $250 after tax. The lot was also supposed to be valet to my understanding but we had to park ourselves. The lot was very unsecure and essentially just a small open asphalt parking lot, I did worry about our vehicle being left in the exposed lot overnight but nothing bad ended up happening. Now for the stay.. We were greeted warmly by the hotel staff and our room was very clean. We went to sleep around 11:30pm only to be woken around 1:00am by the neighbors in the room next to us. I waited for about 30 minutes, giving them time to settle down before calling the hotel front desk to inform them of the noise trouble. The front desk asked us if we would like to switch rooms (not an option because our 2 year old was already settled and asleep) so the front desk supposedly sent security to ask our neighbors to please keep the noise down some. The noise persisted and again at 3:30am and 4:30am I called /texted to make noise complaints.. and was informed that it was more than likely a graduation party and there wasnt anything else they could do about the noise.I felt very unrested the next morning only having slept a few hours, upon check-out the front desk did ask us how our stay was and I did mention that we had made several calls to them through the night.. so they took the initiative and asked if we would like a reimbursement for our parking fee. Considering the cost of our stay and trouble sleeping I figured it was the least they could do at his point and thanked them for that.Do I think the hotel could have done more for us and the other guests who were bothered by the excessive noise that night? Probably... but I dont hold it against them either since it was more than likely a fluke incident since it was graduation weekend. We would probably stay the night in this hotel again if it had a better rate than its competitors downtown, although there was a town 30 minutes West of Detroit called Dearborn that looked nice on our drive through that I would consider staying in before booking downtown again.
The rooms are nice and the staff is nice. Reggie who works the front desk is great. But they forgot to give us parking passes and now two of the 4 girls who stayed have $80 parking tickets. Was told at check in that the hotel would get them dismissed because they forgot to give us our parking passes when we checked in. Weβre on day 4 of calling trying to get in contact with the general manager and we keep being transferred to his voicemail that doesnβt work. Donβt stay here if you want to deal with awful customer service
Just needed the room for a night while catching a tigers game, hotel is walking distance from Ford field and Comerica, also plenty of restaurants in walking distance. Parking fee was ridiculous at $27 just to park in hotel parking when across the street its anywhere from $4-$10, room was big but not that clean sheets were stained and lots of hair on the bathroom floor. Check in was great we were able to check in early even have our room changed to a bigger room for less. Pool and indoor dining still closed due to covid which stinks but nothing you can do about that.Would probably stay again.
The room, there hospitality whereas the lack of disclosure amidst to the pool, secured parking and breakfast. When included as an amenity then disclosure is required or your practices are unprofessional and deceptive. Overall was not homeless and the Hilton provided Γecurity and shelter for the person.
From the initial check in the staff was very professional and polite. The facility was very well cleaned. One of the front desk clerks was extremely courteous and very friendly. Reggie made the whole stay worthwhile. He engaged with every patron he made sure we knew he was there if we needed any further assistance. I will definitely book here everytime I come to Detroit just because I was made to feel like I was at home vs a visitor in a different city........
It is well located, however the cost I paid for a single room for one night was very raising $ 258.55 for one night. I think it was very high. I tried to stay in a double Tree affiliate, however the staff who attended me today was classist and told me that they would only attend me if I already had a reservation.
Very disappointed room was not cleaned properly crumbs on floor made me feel uncomfortable. I called asking if we could arrive early than planned as we had drove straight 15 hours from Florida for our sisters funeral on arrival the female on the desk was very cold and rude I asked where to park the car she said very abruptly ANYWHERE!we stayed 4 nights and had no room cleaning or clean towels I called the front desk to be told we donβt do the rooms every day anymore due to COVID19 so I asked if we could have clean towels the gentleman agreed to send some up now this is day 3 without clean towels the ice maker was not working on our floor it was a horrible stay and would not stay there again we stay at Hilton hotels all over the world and USA this is why we chose this one thinking we would get the same good service we are used too I donβt always use my honors to book I just book not thinking I donβt think it makes any difference after this experience I will be very weary where I book when we travel in the future the staff themselves apart from the lady who checked us in was very pleasant when we did speak to them this should make you check housekeeping after each room is cleaned I own a housekeeping business have done since Jan 1997 and my employees would not be allowed to leave a room like the one we stayed in Frieda Rogers we stayed in room 618 which had a bad odor too
This has been my go to hotel for almost two years. I come multiple times a month and everyone knows me and hospitality was great but now the new staff show none. Ive always stayed one or two nights and rates were always the same but tonight I was charged TRIPLE!! Got put in the wrong room, door was stuck, and if I brought up a problem, *I* was the problem. Sadly my review has changed. There are some staff who I appreciate greatly, but Im definitely staying elsewhere from now on.
Came into town for a Tigers game and location was great. We were able to walk to the game (you can see the hotel from the stadium)! The thermostat in our room (1013) was loose and falling off the wall but the room was clean overall. Views were great. Most of the staff was super nice a few were on there cell phone while we were at the desk which was a bit off putting. Breakfast was a bit confusing due to the menu stating to go put our order in but they take the order at the table unless you want something from the buffet. The breakfast staff was very nice and helpful though! The housekeeping staff was awesome and friendly! Every guest they passed they smiled and said hello or asked how the day was!
My daughter and I were welcomed with enthusiasm to our Explore Detroit trip by the staff at Detroits Hilton Garden Inn. The hospitality of the team members at the front desk enabled us to find great places to eat and fun things to do while in Detroit. We had a great time.
We travel to Detroit a lot because we have a lot of family there. Iβve stayed at numerous hotels in Detroit and this was the worse. My car along with 3 other guest vehicles in the lot was vandalized and broken into. Reading reviews from other guest on different stays, you can see this happens a lot at this hotel. Where is security? The manager Larry said security is for hotel not the parking lot even tho we paid them. Filled out police report and the hotel said itβs not their responsibility & Washed thier hands from it but begged us not to post reviews. We lost money and personnel items dealing with this hotel. Do not stay here!!!
Room was spacious and clean. The bed was comfortable and the a/c worked perfectly! Had issues with the room key which was frustrating as we had to go back down to the lobby 3+ times. Staff was very helpful, kind and accommodating! Close to the ball park and the belt!
Attended A Bachelorette Party Here & You cant get in without a key card so the person had to come down & Get all of their guest & The front desk only allowed like 8Ppl to come in so Thank Goodness thats all it was. Nice rooms. Clean has a fridge & Microwave in the room from what I saw. Bathroom was nice as well.
Wasnβt told they didnβt have maid service on the weekend when I checked in hotel. I ended up come back to a dirty room and no clean towels after a day of work on the weekend. I needed a receipt to be reimbursed for travel which I needed them to issue again and IβmStill waiting for the email so I can get reimbursed for money I spent there. The location is great donβt go there expecting breakfast at all or maid service on the weekend.
Very nice hotel and friendly staff. Only draw back is there is no shuttle service if youre in the city for an event. The room was very nice. We ate in the restaurant for dinner and the service was good along with the food. We had the breakfast buffet and that was also good.
This hotel has an issue with crime in the area. Screaming party goers late at night. Our vehicle was robbed and damaged. Still have not received a call from the General Manager. As a Hilton High Honors member, this is not what I would have expected. Very disappointed. We were compensated for the self parking parking lot, but all in all the whole stay should have been. Security guards at the front? A joke.
Very clean and nice hotel. Staff was very polite. The rooms are impeccably clean and very modern. Excellent view from above the city. Could have a little bit more light perhaps an additional lamp in the room would be a plus but otherwise fantastic. Bed was comfortable, shower and bathroom were clean and well maintained. Plenty of towels and basic necessities. Would stay again. Only recommendation is do not drive or Park a vehicle. It is expensive for parking as well as the nearby Lots
Positive: Location is perfect for downtown Detroit Negative: The night shift seems to not care about customer service. The front desk little man stays on his phone as I approach. he doesnt acknowledge me. He literally looked up at me and put his head back down into his phone. What a jerk, working out front
The whole room was very nice, clean, and comfortable. The hotel was close to every place we wanted to be. The front desk staff was very kind! The only qualm I have was that someone came to our door to clean at around 9:45 AM, which I thought was sort of unusual. It wasnt a big hindrance though. I would stay again if the occasion permits!
Booking this Hotel by accident and was positively surprised. Staff super friendly, Detroit itself - well you like it or not. I would not book this town for a holiday ;-)I felt safe within this Hotel. ItΒ΄s just a few minutes footwalk to the Hard Rock Cafe or even Greektown.Would book it again!
I travel quite often and stay in Hilton properties throughout the U.S and Canada. This hotel has to be one of the worst Ive ever been to.Valet that is non-existant (but they still charge you $30 a night to park your own car.)When the power went out the fire escape lights did not illuminate. The west side fire escape lead to literally nowhere.I found a six inch hair in my bathroom and when I brought it to the attention of the front desk staff they did absolutely nothing. The elevator button on my floor was stuck in the down position.Ice machine on my floor didnt produce any ice.A general manager that looked and spoke like he was just there to punch a time clock.I do NOT recommend this specific hotel... Id stay in a Motel Six before I would ever stay at this location again.
Room had a septic smell to it. The couch in room smelled like a wet dog. Instead of cleaning spots in my room they painted the dirty spots white paint on a tan wall. Wouldnt stay there again. Being an 10 year Honors with Hilton was very disappointing as of my other stays elsewhere with other Hilton Inns..was an Great time and no complaints!
Great place, rooms large and accommodating. Staff pleasant. Their restaurant is not serving food 2nd to COVID-19, So no breakfast. The door to my room had a large tape Sanitized after housekeeping cleaned. The seal breaks when you slide card to open door.Staff following precautions for COVID-19.I did find cool burger place across street.Basement Burger Bar.Very good, fries cooked just right.
What an amazing hotel and the staff at the restaurant and front desk are accommodating and just hard workers. They really make sure that your stay is comfortable. The female bellperson this am 11/3 chased down my uber that was trying to drive away because I was struggling with my luggage It was above and beyond customer service that makes this hotel stand out. I will most definitely be back and you should too great rooms and staff clean pool and the restaurant is amazing. This hotel is a steal because its really 5 star in my opinion.
The room was nice, we chose the 8th floor. The building was fairly secure too, you have to use your room key to use the elevator. Every person that works there was so kind. From the front desk to house keeping to valet, everyone was awesome! The only thing I didnt like was that you have to use valet. It wasnt a huge deal but it didnt seem totally necessary. But I would stay here again for sure!
You will be paying for location. For the price, I have had much more luxurious accommodations and better appointments. No problems with room cleanliness. The breakfast crew were clearly at odds with each other...several people had to wait for tables as tables were not being bused. About 3/4 of the tables had not been cleared. Service was very slow, buffet not being replenished. Front desk personnel were excellent.
It was my first time. The rooms a very large and spacious. They came with a refrigerator, free coffee, ice machines and snack machines were close by. Rooms were very clean and handicapped equipped. There is so many nice things i can say.. I will continue to go back.
Room was very nice and quiet. Note that valet parking is required at a cost of $25/ night plus tip. There was only one mirror and it was in the bathroom. I normally do my hair and makeup at a secondary mirror to allow my husband to take his shower at the same time, not a criticism, just a thought for hotel use. All in all, nice hotel and nice room. Id stay there again.
I stayed here during my business trip. I requested one king bed room, but they gave a room with two queen beds. The room size was ok, with a desk, coffee machine and refrigerator. I was glad to see the room also had microwave. You dont see microwave in a hotel room much any more. There was a huge AC unit that was taking up a lot of space by the window. And with its size, (or maybe it is just old?), it was so loud when came on. But the interior of the hotel was so warm, you had to have the AC on to be comfortable. The noise kept waking me up at night... Not a good thing to have if you are a light sleeper. They had water bottles in room, but unless you are at the higher level Hilton member, it will cost you $2 each. They didnt have a real drawer, but a metal, pull out shelf. Interesting... Not practical if you have something small or delicate. The bathroom was even worse. It was old and not in good condition. The ceiling seemed like it had some water damage or something, peeling and quite disgusting. The tissue box on by the bathroom sink was soaked, making the tissue inside to be moist which was gross. Water pressure was bad too. I missed my preferred hotel brands that I usually stays at... You never know how good you have it until you are put somewhere else. The main lobby was small, nothing grand. I read other reviews about the breakfast, so I didnt even bother having breakfast there. I will not stay here again...
We enjoyed our stay at the Hilton Garden Inn in Downtown Detroit. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was spacious, comfortable, and well maintained. Parking was no higher than at any other per day lot in town. The hotel was also within walking distance to the People Mover and many major downtown sites.During our stay, we also ate at the Chrome Grill (dinner) and Pavilion Lounge (breakfast). Although both places were very busy with Opening Day attendees, the staff was courteous and did their absolute best to make our meal a good one. For example, when the Grill was understaffed, the waitress was apologetic and offered to comp a portion of our meal. It was nice that she felt bad for us, but she was doing so great with so many tables to manage! We accepted her generosity but left her a nice tip instead for her excellent service. The same great customer service was experienced in the Pavilion Lounge. We actually walked out, leaving our credit card by mistake. In any other major city, that card would have been long gone. I was absolutely frantic when I realized my error. But the waitress was honest and brought it right to the front desk, where I collected it later that afternoon. The staff in this hotel have whats called integrity: They offer the same positive, high-quality customer service day in and day out. Its a great place to stay!
The hotel was very nice, staff was helpful and room was clean. However, our room was on the corner of Brush St and Gratiot Ave and it was SO loud! The first night there were people fighting on the street outside our window and the second night there were loud people as well as what sounded like drag racing. We definitely needed ear plugs. We could also very clearly hear conversations happening in the hallway, one of which was between employees in the middle of the night. Needless to say, this wasnt a restful experience at all. It may have been different if our room had been on the other side of the hallway.
This is pretty standard for a garden inn. But as usual, its the little things that make a huge difference. Too small shampoo and conditioner bottles, rough toilet paper, below standard TV experience all makes it feel just a bit too cheap, instead of just inexpensive. The staff was very pleasant. The room was clean. The neighborhood leaves much to be desired but you are within walking distance of some great spots.
Valet was awesome. I was checking in for my girlfriend and myself for a wedding and unfortunately there were no bell carts or anyone to help carry all of our bags up to my room so I had everything slung up on my shoulders. Check in took forever, we booked a single king and were given 2 queens. Overall room was clean, a/c worked well, nice towels, nice bedding, and friendly staff. Great stay, but for the amount we paid for 2 nights I expect our reserved room type be available and for a cart to be available for luggage.
STOLEN MY NINTENDO SWITCH.The stay itself was pleasant but when i got to the airport, I realized that I left my Nintendo switch in the hotel. I called them right away to file a lost and found. Few days later, I called them back and they told me that they could not locate the item. At this point I was thinking either they dont clean their room or someone stole my switch. few days down the line, I saw activity on my Nintendo account and purchases. So someone form house keeping has stolen my switch and gave it a person who wanted to play Fortnite. I have filed a police report and submitted a formal complaint to Hilton corporate. I will edit this review as the case updates.
Clean, comfortable and quiet.I would recommend this hotel to friends.Every employee we encountered was friendly and helpful. The Valets, Receptionists, and housekeepers were personable and seemed truly interested in making our stay enjoyable.Kudos to our Concierge on her Breakfast recommendation of Le Petit Dejeuner.
The valet service is well priced and very nice. The lobby is well appointed and staff very friendly. The rooms are well kept, bedding and toilet clean and tidy. The pool, though I didnt use it, looks nice. The restaurants were highly spoken of but I chose to eat elsewhere for greater verity.
Attended a professional event in one of their conference rooms on the lower floor. Food provided was excellent and the wait staff were very attentive for meal cleanup. Event organizers asked for additional power strips and it took nearly an hour for the hotel staff to get them. Overall decent experience, would attend another event here.
Awesome place to stay when visiting downtown Detroit. The people there were extremely nice and accommodating. We had a few special requests and Jennifer helped make them all happen. She was fantastic with her customer service skills and response times. She deserved a medal for dealing with the requests we made. Jerie at the front desk was spectacular in getting us into our rooms a little earlier than expected, and helping us 5 guys to split up the bill evenly. Both women deserve raises! The hotel itself was very clean, everything looked like it was brand new and well taken care of. Being within a couple blocks of all of the sports venues and some really great bars and restaurants was worth every penny of the stay. I will stay here again and again every time I visit Detroit.
Stayed here to go to an event at Little caesers arena. Pretty good location, you can reasonably walk to almost anywhere in the city, and there are ample restaurants and bars within a very short distance. Room was large and clean and very comfortable. Only issue was being right down town, it can be loud at night, especially on a weekend, so dont be surprised if you wake up to some partying or loud cars.
Our room was very clean and nice. The front desk people were extremely helpful and friendly. The valet men extremely helpful and nice too. Also hot tub stopped working will kids were in and the engineer/maintenance man was amazing and helpful. The comp breakfast omg wonderfully great. The manger there amazing. We were compt for the hot tub issue. Will stay here again! Thank you to all
Decent and clean hotel with a friendly staff and reasonable pricing. The rooms at the hotel are modern and comfortable. I lived at the 8th floor out of 10 and had a decent view of the city as well. Lived here for 3 nights and didnβt experiment any issues with noise or anything like that.Itβs possible to order the rooms with breakfast included which is a nice touch. The staff was very helpful during my visit and I would recommend the hotel to friends and family.Note: free internet for Hilton honors members.
Has a fresh and clean feeling in the lobby upon entering. However, you are paying more for the ambiance of downtown. It kind of sucks because they really donβt have anything different from other Hilton hotels. Not much within walking distance either. More of a corporate location rather than vacation. Enjoyed the stay nonetheless. Amenities could be better
We had a great stay! The rooms are clean and comfortable. BUT....because of a certain person named Liz (Elizabeth) who made are stay wonderful. We will be back again soon. This hotel is lucky to have a wonderful person like her who really cares about her guests. HUGS!
By far hearing the street noise all night long was the worst part. We stayed on the 5th floor but sounded like we were ground level. No fan in the bathroom, most staff are friendly and helpful, beds were comfortable, but made a really weird noise with any type of movement. No continental breakfast. Secure building with valet parking. Clean.
The hotel was good. Staff was friendly and check in was easy. There is a $30 valet parking only onsite. The only thing to be aware of is there is alot of street noise. We were in the 5th floor and like other reviews it seemed like every car and motorcycle was felt they have to rev their engines or blast their music driving by. At times it seemed like jets were flying by. Really it was super loud. Again not the hotels fault but something to consider. Otherwise location is close to downtown core.
Pretty expensive considering there werent many benefits one would be afforded going to holiday inn, days inn, etc. Breakfast for example was an expensive experience if done at the hotel. The wifi and most of the doors (including bathrooms) were incredibly inconvenient to use. The card readers on doors were achingly slow, often taking 8-16 swipes to register. This was not just a problem I experienced. Other tenants I met in the elevator showed the same difficulty when they used their cards. That was the worst part of the experience however. I dont want to mislead you, there was nothing incredibly bad about my stay there. It simply wasnt good enough to make the money spent feel worth it. In the future I will more than likely be staying at one of the numerous hotels that are closer to the expo center, cheaper, and offering more benefits to their customers. I gave this one a try on my mothers recommendation for the chain because she had apparently stayed at one for a business trip.
Nice rooms, decent place to stay with everything in walking distance. Only hiccup was my flight crew was supposed to have four rooms and they ended up not having but three rooms for us after we were told they had enough. Other than that, friendly staff and clean facility.
Wonderful stay...a little surprised by the valet only parking, but I totally get it. Turns out to be pretty convenient! Super clean rooms and bathrooms. Amazing bathtubs. Only stayed one night and loved every minute of our stay. Front desk is very very competent and helpful.
We went for the Cowboys, Lions game in Detroit and stayed here overnight. The hotel staff here were phenomenal considering the congestion in and around the hotel! Shout out to the server at Chrome Bar and Grille who took soooo many orders on her own and still maintained the best customer service ever! I wish I would have asked her name. She rocks! They need help on game day though. Thats a lot of stress and pressure on one cook, one bartender, and one server! We truly enjoyed our short stay in Detroit! Go Boys!!
Rooms are clean and modern. Plenty of outlets for charging devices and solid wifi. Only down side is lots of traffic/city noise late into the night on weekends or during sporting events can make it difficult to sleep. However this may could be due to the location of the room.
This place was filthy. Furniture in lobby was torn and stained. Couch in room was stained. I felt like I was in a Days Inn. Homeless people walking through lobby rummaging through breakfast food. Desk staff were pleasant and there was security in the parking lot at night.
This is a great hotel!!! All of the service was exceptional!!! The rooms were very modern and clean....the breakfast was great...we had Tiffany as our server and she was more than helpful!!!! The location of the hotel was a perfect walking distance from Campus Martius....which during this time of year is a beautiful place to check out!!! All around great experience!!! We will be back!!!
The room was comfortable, clean and accommodating and the service staff were very friendly. Unfortunately, the late-night noise level outside of the hotel was tremendous way past Midnight because of a club or two next door. So if youre looking for some peace and quiet during your stay, I wouldnt recommend it.
Hotel is newly renovated with very friendly staff. I was offered more than the standard diamond member complimentary waters and snack as I entered(I declined, but it was nice of them to offer). Spending 16-20 nights a month on the road, finding a good brand is important, Hilton is a safe choice. This hotel is in the middle of everything with a lot of highly rated restaurants and bars within a block or two.
Its one of the worst hotels Ive holiday in. The house keeping staff is rude and constantly make excuses to not clean your room. The hotel has in reasonable conditions for house keeping. Im a frequent traveller and have never come across such service. They dont have house keeping staff through the day so in case your room needs to be cleant at your convenience which in a hotel is rare. So in case your planing to with kids this is a bad option!
I actually do not really want to write this review because the staff of the hotel was amazing. Everyone from the valet to the front desk attendant were very friendly and accommoding. We were there for the NAIAS (Detroit Auto Show) and stayed a few nights. On our second night, while working in the room a bedbug crawled across the blanket. We killed it (nasty bloody little thing) and called the front desk immediately to inform the staff. The gentleman promptly moved us to another room on the opposite side of the floor we were on. Needless to say, we spend hours that night checking all of our bags, gear, clothes, and bedding (in the new room) for signs of bedbugs. Thankfully, the new room appeared clean (as did the original room when we checked in). I called the front desk the following morning and spoke with the manager who offered me a refund for 1 night and no valet charge. I know she was tryingto be accommodating, but I felt that both nights should have been refunded. The discovery of a bedbug has the ability to ruin an entire stay. I called Hilton Corporate and explained what happened and they told me they couldnt do anything. They said their official policy prevents them from taking any action and its between the guest and the hotel. Again, the staff was great, the rooms were clean, but a simple bedbug ruined our stay. After returning home, we had to then bag up all our clothes and gear and add additional hours of cleaning to the chore of getting home from a trip. Would have been 5 stars if not for the bug and the poor response of Hilton hotels. I am a long time Hilton Honors member and this is the first time Ive ever had a bedbug in my room (that Im aware of). The manager did inform me that they would call and exterminator and spray that room and several others just to be safe.
Service was quick and friendly. Room and bathroom were clean and looked well treated. Room and bathroom style looked dated. Breakfast was included with the room, which had plenty of choice and was quick friendly service, but the lukewarm coffee and dried out bacon left us a little disappointed. Scrambled eggs and French toast were tasty.
$165 a night. Valet costs 25 bucks. Breakfast is a steep $14. Room was mediocre with hair on the walls and mold in the shower. The shower curtain was all torn up. The AC unit wouldnt let me run the fan. Had to wait 10 min to get my car at valet while freezing with the doors that open and close nonstop. Im a Hilton honors member and typically choose Hilton brands, but wont go here again. Staff was nice.
A nice place. Close to all the sporting venues and Greek Town. The only down side was a very strong musty odor that was in our room. Im sure if I asked, we would have been moved to a new room but for 1 night it was tolerable. I would stay there again my next trip to Detroit.
This hotel is absolutely 100% what youd expect from this grade of Hilton. Rooms are nice, look the have recently been updated and beds are comfortable. The *only* reason for my low reviews is for the music from the bar across the street. They have speakers outside that play an uninspired playlist of stale music (Living La Vida Loca? Really?). The music plays constantly from about noon to well past midnight. It made working from the room challenging, and I had to employ all my noise cancelling techniques to get a good nights sleep.I asked to switch rooms to the other side of the hotel, but that side was all king rooms (I had a queen), and they were sold out. The desk clerk didnt seem particularly sympathetic to my complaint, she didnt offer to try to move me to another room further down the hall, and said nobody had ever complained about the music before...I see from here I am not the first to complain.
Came to Detroit for the auto show. Was so happy I chose to stay at the Hilton. You cannot ask for a more friendly and proffessprof staff. Really enjoyed the made to order breakfast. Our room was very comfortable and clean. I would recommend staying at the Hilton garden inn while visiting the City. My friend and I went for a walk in the evening and found we were very close to the casino and felt very comfortable and safe doing so.
I want to personally thank Kenny and Olivia for there personal touch. They made feel as if I was right home amazing front desk team. My room was cleaned every day by housekeeping service . My experience at the Hilton Garden Inn was awesome I would recommend this location great spot close to everything Greektown Renaissance Center.
The hotel met my expectations of HGI (in a good way!) but the staff are right up there with the best; friendly, professional and very knowledgeable of the area.My first visit to Detroit (went to see a band at St Andrews Hall) and wasnt sure how safe the area was. Brian on the front desk is an ambassador for Detroit, convincing me that the short walk was safe and no need to get a cab and also recommended a great place to eat. Had a great evening and very enjoyable stay in Detroit.
The hotel itself is very well maintained and clean, but noisy, especially over the weekends. Greektown casino is right down the way and brings out the crowds, cars, and loud music. The parking lot which my room happened to be facing was the gathering spot for cars and loud music, needless to say didnt get much sleep.
I had some problems with Hilton Garden Inn.1. Room fridge wasnβt empty, there was left over food from whoever was there before.2. We asked if we could use their luggage room and they said they could put it by the front desk window instead. Come to figure they put other luggage in the back room.3. When I retrieved my valeted car my passenger window was broken and they said they will not do anything about it because it wasnβt one of their employees so itβs not their fault and thereβs nothing they can do.Very disappointing experience. They said they would cover my damages but was never given the full amount and arent responding to my emails...
Good location, only a block from Ford field and the baseball stadium. Only about a 15 minute walk to the basketball arena. A couple blocks from Greektown casino and a bunch of restaurants. Hotel staff are not particularly friendly. Rooms are basic. Breakfast was average.
I was on a business trip with room being paid for by business. At check in time I was charged the full amount and not told that it was charged to me. I would not have found out about the charge except my traveling companions cards were declined. We were promised apology letters and a gift and never received anything. Not even a sorry for the inconvenience. Basically we were told it was our fault. After that we had poor service.
Heater in room was exceptionally loud while the television was exceptionally small. The room floor padding was very inexpensive. The tub wasnt clean the lounge chair in the room would have been better if nothing was there. Went down to the pool, and the hot tub was out of order without a sign stating that. I am from Detroit and I stay in hotels all over the country. I tried a hotel in Detroit for my grandchilds birthday, and I must say that will never happen again. The complete atmosphere made me feel down. Im glad I was able to move north long ago because every other hotel I paid a substantial amount for like this was 4 times better in every way.
THE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER . I have stayed here last year and had the best time ever , was located right near the event I was attending . So, since I had such a good time in 2014 I decided to come again for the same event and stay here again. Had a problem while checking in, they were giving a hard time about paying in cash ( paid in cash last year no problem) the manager came out solved the problem, with a bit of an attitude at first but in the end we got to pay with cash so we were all good. Got in the room it was dirty, microwave had spilled coffee in it , the coffee maker wasnt cleaned out. Didnt upset me too much , just cleaned them both myself, even though they should clean everything in the room to make it perfect. After that the stay was great until it was time to check out , we got our car and it was all scratched up from the valet. A pretty big scratch. Paint missing and all. So while on our way home , the card we used to booked the hotel was charged $300, thought it was a mistake so we call and they said that we didnt pay for our whole stay , which when we checked in and paid for our two nights we kept asking over and over that this was the final pay because it seemed less than we thought, the person checking us in made it clear that this was the amount and that rates changed. They told us on the phone that there was miscommunication when in fact the four of us was standing there while checking in and we made sure we paid for the whole stay when we checked in. This was the hotel fault and they do not think they did wrong. I do not think we should suffer from their mistakes, they took money from us without telling us. After the horrible service we had I think the hotel should not make us suffer and pay for their mistake, they gave us a dirty room, ruined our car and charged us when they told us we paid the full amount. We have a receipt from when we checked in saying 0 balance . I will not be staying here for the event I attend every year anymore after this experience, I will find somewhere new that wont give me problems, its a shame really loved the location and the building. On a good note Ryan from valet was awesome, he knows how to treat people and make them feel welcomed, he is a great worker.Thank you for your time
2.5 stars really.Staff was extremely friendly, helpul and respectful. Flash pass ID cards for rooms, kuerig and flatscreen TVS, clean rooms as expected for a HGI. Unfortunately the good stops there. Manatory valet parking at $25.00/night. I had to reset my car security so someone else could drive it because as,a rule I never use valet. Not happy at all about that. The room is outdated and dingy looking, not housekeeping dirty, but old and age dirty. The room had an odd odor that every room seemed to have. Like the smell of an old vacuum cleaner. The bathroom was spotless, yet had cracked ceilings and paint, and no vent fan.The halls and lobby were spotless, but many parts reeked of old cigarette smoke. The lower level especially which also had the odd room smell mixed in. The pool area was clean, but the pool was not! It was on, but looked like used bathwater and had a green tint to it. The hot tub was the same, but not on. As an added bonus the view from 215 was the mechanical equipment. Electrical boxes air conditioner, pipes etc. A few upgrades, and attention to neglected areas and this place could easily be 4 stars. The staff, restaurant and cleanliness of rooms and halls is what saves this from being a flat 2 stars. I would not stay here again. Uber makes staying farther away just as convenient.
Just a drab place for the money spent. I stay pretty much exclusively at Hilton properties and apart from the location and a decent staff this was one of my worst stays. Shower was coming apart and renovations felt cheap and hastily put together. I got the feel of a low rent dorm room.
Its unfortunate that one simple situation that couldve been handled differently turned a good experience into one of my worst for the #HiltonHotel brand.I requested a late checkout time and it was excepted. I checked out and requested my vehicle to be brought up, the denied the request as I was told I needed to pay an additional 50 dollars for leaving after 1230pm. No one at the reception counter had communicated this to me when I requested a late checkout. The operations manager was called and assured me that I would not be charged, however after an hour or so I received a credit card notification that I was charged for parking from the valet company. This is disturbing as the valet company was given my credit card information from the hotel without my permission or authority to charge. Very disappointed. As a Diamond Hilton Member it may cause me to consider a different brand of hotel to stay at. Very disappointed.
Most staff was polite and helpful, especially Ryan in valet and the waiter in the breakfast restaurant. Rooms are clean. Hotel is very close to all activities in downtown Detroit. Food for breakfast and dinner was very good too. I would not stay here again though because of the loud music from the bar across the street until 2:30 in the morning all 4 nights of my stay and the constant revving of the motorcycles into the early morning hours. Police were parked at this corner every night to stand guard and make sure this did not get out of control. I did not feel safe watching this activity each night. There arent many reviews of this and people who would like to stay here should consider a different hotel if they want to get rest at night.
I give a heart felt thumbs up for the two women working the desk when I checked in on 02/21/19 at 11am! Great job ladies...however, the gentleman who was behind the desk when I asked at 545pm where the restaurant was is really pathetically rude. He eats behind the desk and spits particles of food at you while he speaks. When I bought a few items after dinner he was very rude to me stating, I told you not to remove your card! Loud and very rude! He looked sloppy and very much lacked in hi-gene.
A nice hotel in a decent part of Detroit. You must pay for parking here. The staff does take a few minutes to warm up to you. And youre within safe walking distance to the baseball and football stadiums, and greektown. The rooms are beautiful and clean. But the noise from the surrounding nightlife may keep you up until 3am!
Location is excellent in downtown Detroit, easy 3 min walk to lots of great restaurants in greektown and elsewhere. The room I stayed in was a 2 room suite, which was about what youd expect - a few cosmetic imperfections here and there, but it was for the most part clean and well stocked. Free bottles of water and coffee in room. Concierge was nice enough to give me toothbrush and toothpaste. No free breakfast here! They charge something like $11 for it.
Great positives. Few small things to be aware...Positives. Staff. These guys and gals are true professionals. From the front staff to the guys behind the scenes they worked hard to make our stay enjoyable. We stayed for several days and at each point they went beyond the required. I want a special shout out to the maintence staff. We had a room issue that they rectified nearly immediately. It is close to the people mover. A straight shot to childrens hospital. Close to everything. Very secure. Very clran. The negs. The rooms are small. It is an older downtown hotel so thats a reality. The parking is valet. I had a really tricky stick so I parked myself. Made in and out easier, but it can be annoying. Again it is an older downtown hotel so parking is 25 a night. Breakfast is 14 dollars. And a bit odd. However ham shop and other options are close.Overall a great place to stay!
Bed bugs, bed bugs and more bed bugs! Be careful watch yourselves. I got ate up, one night only, welcome to Detroit! Thanks Hilton! Really? I stayed there with my girlfriend who booked it, omg not happy. Had a big meeting this morning, itching, scratching, red bumps all over me, Iβm so disappointed in this place. Sad just sad! Worst $150 ever spent! In my poorest days I had better experiences at red roof inn for 39.95! Good luck!
Terrible experience and awful management. Be careful with your credit cards, always confirm how much they are charging before you hand over your card. There was a mix up with the payment from my company. They do not tell you what they are charging ahead of time, resulting with them depleting my bank account. It was a nightmare to fix leaving me without expenses while I was away from home. I was never given an apology for the mishap. Do yourself a favor and stay at the doubletree instead! Much better customer service and full disclosure of how much they are charging (without me even asking)!

2022-02-15Came with my wife and kids to go to the Lion King. My wife was nervous about staying in a hotel. But that was put to rest as soon as we pulled up. The valet was welcoming. The desk staff was helpful and friendly. Our room was spotless. The best part for our family is that everyone working wore a mask. I saw two different workers spraying Lysol. I would stay here again and highly recommend it.

2022-01-03This is an extraordinary hotel. The rooms are extremely clean and very comfortable. The staff is attentive, friendly, and eager to ensure guest enjoy their experience. Larry the GM took the time to check in on us during our stay and was genuinely interested in making sure we were well taken care of. Ashley at the front desk was very kind she warmly greeted me by name every time she saw me pass. I love this hotel and will certainly be back!

2022-05-03Positive: This hotel was great. We had a clean room with a city view.We parked the car with the valet and we walked everywhere. 5 min. Walk to Greek Town. 10 min. Walk to Comerica park. The location was perfect. Highly recommend. We will stay at this hotel again. Negative: Valet was $38 a night. But its Detroit and I had piece of mind that my car was safe. Breakfast was $18 a person but it was right at the hotel.

2022-07-03Superb customer service. Beautiful interiors, great gift shop selections. Amazing central downtown location. Only downside is the fact the pool is π¬ππ’π₯π₯ under renovation. The GM, Larry, went above and beyond to make my stay worry and stress-free. Would easily revisit and recommend.

2022-04-25It was such a pleasant surprise to be so comfortable in a clean, hospitable hotel in downtown Detroit living so far away. The staff was exceedingly friendly and the hotel felt very safe. We walked to restaurants nearby and had very nice meals. I would recommend Detroit and the Hilton Garden Inn. Thank you! Great job.

2022-01-10This is the third time Ive come to this hotel and theyve given away our handicap accessible room. I was told my room was not ready at 3 pm (check in). Someone would call me back in a few minutes. I arrived at 6 pm because I did not receive a call back and could not get anyone to answer the phone. They sent us to a room they knew was not accessible. Had to go back down again and they gave us keys that did not work. Finally had to go back down and tell them your room wasnt accessible. They told us theyd given all the accessible rooms away even though I had a guaranteed room and had confirmed the day before. Being a wheelchair user I cant depend on this Hilton. They need to remove the Hilton name from this hotel. Its a huge disappointment!

2022-02-06This was me and the wifes first time staying here. I was a bit nervous because we smelled weed once we got out the elevator on our floor. The second issue was that one of our pillows had a stain on it. I was able to text Evan (the hotel staff member) and he worked diligently to correct the issues. He went beyond to make sure our stay was as comfortable as possible moving forward. If in the area I would stay in the hotel again, mainly because the ginuine concern the staff took to correct any issues we had.because of the staff effort we decided 4 stars was reasonable. It wouldve been 3 without such a tentative staff

2022-02-23Everything started out pretty well. Then when we went to check out I noticed I was charged a smoking fee if 250 and we never once smoked in the room. The house keeper that came to our room completely lied and got irritated with us when she was confronted for lying. We are very clean and respectful people and for us to be lied on about something like this is absolutely terrible. I will be reaching out to the better business bureau and filing a complaint. A room that was $243 ended up costing me $569. They also didnβt return the 85 hold to my card either. We were treated as animals and not guests. We will never return here and we I am already in the process of filing a repot

2022-06-26Warning: Check out with hotel in person, and then double check your credit card. I was double charged for Valet parking somehow (only inserted card once) and also charged $85, but no receipt to my email (valet receipt was sent to my email). Nothing on my Hilton honors app. I paid hotel in full prior to arriving. Will be calling to get resolved, but wanted to warn others to double check charges!!Room was decent, and expected standard for Garden Inn. Staff ok.

2022-06-082 friends and I stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn in downtown Detroit at the end of May for DEMF. It was okay, but nothing amazing. It was over a grand just to stay 3 nights yet they dont have free breakfast and the pool is closed. A couple of the valet drivers seemed annoyed that I didnt want to use their $38/day service and opted to use a parking lot for less instead, and were yelling at me to move my car while my friends and I were unloading and loading the car π So basically, if you dont pay their insane rate for valet service, after paying their insane rate for a room, you arent allowed to have your car pulled up and are forced to carry your things in 90 degree heat out in the sun. All the other employees were very kind though. I liked the view from our room. The water stayed hot in the shower. Barely had to drive anywhere since we were close to everything.
