Tried the Hix parking area first. Lots of middle aged men just sitting in their cars in the parking area. :( Left and parked on the east end parking area off of Joy Rd. Trail was a bit overgrown and messy. Wasnt somewhere I wanted my wife to be overall. Left there after ~10 min.

2022-05-21Nice wooded hiking trail ( snake, deer tracks, frogs, birds, poison ivy, creek . . .). Felt like I was in backwoods except for when one of many paths went by edge of residential backyards. 🙂 The geographically challenged could get lost in here; reminded me of Hansel and Gretel. I only got one or two 🦟 bites but I imagine you could get more when sun is going down. Some of paths were muddy when we went, but there were enough dry ones to keep us entertained. Wear appropriate footwear and bring a buddy or a compass. Pavilion at entrance for picnic. We did a good 3 miles on paths we took. 🙂

2020-06-24Trail was OK, muddy in areas and sometimes hard to follow due to overgrown vegetation. LOTS of mosquitos, definitely wear bug spray if you go. Otherwise very pretty nature preserve with some covered picnic tables near the trail head

2016-10-04Amazing nature trail. Along the creek and wooded area. Some well walked and others not so much. its little hard to follow the marked trail, the markers are vandalized or broken. Customize how ever long or short you want. Up to 14 miles. Its closer to the city. Convenient.Other important thing to mention. I would not go here alone, for safety reasons. there were some people who did not seem to be there to enjoy the nature. Definitely something fishy.

2017-06-05The trails are really pretty, but Id strongly suggest not going alone. There was definitely something shady going on, quite a few people who were not there to enjoy the trails. I wont speculate further but I felt unwelcome and it didnt feel safe. We wont go back at all.

2017-12-24Trail though not well marked but foot trail quite clear. Met few ppl on the trail enjoying walking in nature.See different types of trees on the way though one major type is dominant. May encounter variety of animals.Downside always see houses on the edges or could be upside safety wise. In the usual wet spots there are small elevated wooden path.

2018-02-21Beautiful park with close to 5 miles of hiking trails all in the woods. Mature trees, several stream crossings and the flexibility of the trail length make it a delight.
