They communicated every step of the way from vehicle drop off to pick up with detailed descriptions of inspections/photos and price quotes the whole way. Very transparent breakdowns of the costs of parts and labor. With that type of service, I was worried at first that prices would be through the roof, but the prices were very reasonable— they actually quoted me less than another mechanic I had gone to. Upon pickup, the final total was even lower than what they quoted. I will definitely be returning for future repairs/maintenance

Ive had 84 vehicles since 1967; last four were Audi TTs and one TTS; decided to purchase vehicle under $9K, under 55 miles. Chose a Saturn Sky. Cheap, simple mechanics yet, elegant style. Found a beauty in Huntington Beach. Researched the best mechanic in Oceanside and chose Jorge Alonso. Extremely organized, best of the best estimates and concise, understandable, next steps envoice list with no fluff. Decided to change all the fluids and plugs, customary with every vehicle owned with exception of two new Corvettes. The customer service and quality of work exceeded expectations. Importantly was the customer relationship management and willingness to show and educate me on what was necessary. All leading to trust in, recommendations, quality of work and pricing. Too bad there arent six stars.

Great service, attention to detail and best of all went an extra step! PLACE ROCKS!..............Returning customer,have been very happy with service, My 2004 needed an OIl-Change and I also started to receive an engine light alert. After taking my truck there for years now they know my vehicle. Service was in and out, they found the issue, text me the details and cost and post the green light from me, its working as new again. They could easily do the flush and make some money, but instead, each oil change they check the fluid for me and advise that it’s still good and not ready to be flushed. I was dumb enough to put DEF in my diesel gas tank! Jorge and team were extremely diligent in figuring out how to make sure EVERYTHING was cleaned to not cause major issues in the engines. Comment: Ive visited Jorge Alsonos Auto Repair two times in the last month or so. Thanks to my lemon of a Ram, but I digress. His shop came recommended when I asked on a FB group and we definitely found the jackpot as far as a repeat shop goes.Our first visit was for a rear differential leak. A full inspection was also done which was helpful to learn what would be needed in the near future. Marlene/Mylene? at the front desk is great and makes the check-in/check-out process super easy.The second visit was when the truck failed smog and popped out a code. Once that was fixed they took it for a test drive and found the wheel bearing was super loose so they took care of that for me too.Im impressed with the system they use for sending updates, quotes, etc. I received an email and text once the inspection was done and it showed what needed to be done NOW, what should be done soon, and what will be needed further down the line. It even had a video of the wheel bearing, showing that the wheel had a lot of play. An oil change and brake light were suggested too and I figured Id put both off long enough so even if my husband couldve done it himself, I had Jorge do it.Finally, as Im checking out, Jorge informed me about a recall for the truck (which I learned about not that long ago) and gave me a recommendation on a Smog check place since the first one I went to charged me even with a failure. I didnt know they could do that but alas, they can. I trust Jorge and will be going to the recommended smog place.Thanks Jorge for being awesome!

Their communication style is SO COOL! Comment: Jorge didnt really have time for my problem, but when he saw that the car I bought only 3 days ago would not start, he had diagnostics running immediately. The next morning Jorge removed an after-market anti-theft device that was competing with the cars built-in device. Problem solved. He gave me the removed device, and I display it on my wall now.That was not the end; Jorge had a long conversation with me about the solitary key I was given when I bought the car. He looked up that key on the internet and found out that it was also an after-market key and was a generic made by a locksmith. No wonder it was difficult to use and would not lock the car from the outside.I have told all my friends that Jorge is a magician - and his prices are very reasonable.By all means take your car for servicing or repair to Jorge Alonso Auto Repair - you wont regret it.

Comment: I had an issue where my AC/Heater stopped working and the overhead lamp console was broken and hanging. I had tried everything hoping the AC would start working again. It didn’t after a few days so I made an appointment to bring it in. Jorge helped me with my previous vehicle and was always amazing with great and thorough service so I chose to go to him rather than the dealer as the dealer to save and get honest repairs. It was literally a miracle because the mechanic tried everything to see if the AC would fail, but it worked completely fine. In the time to were analyzing the issue, the mechanic was able to repair the overhead console. This shop has always provided great customer service, provided honest and thorough service and just help make the experience pleasant. The little details and providing a loaner car is just an added plus. I love this place and the work they do and the cars the give their customers. I totally recommend over and over again.

Comment: They were great when I first took my truck in to them a couple of years ago, no complaints. But then last October I took it to them again for a couple of leaks, one of them being my radiator, these people were going to charge me $300 for a new radiator alone, not including the labor to install it. I did a quick check at OReillys and found the same one brand new for literally half of what they wanted me to pay for it. I could understand an extra $20-$30 or so for an acquisition fee, but double the market price for a part is outrageous no matter what angle you look at it. Additionally, when I got my truck back from that last visit, I got home and found that my air filter was hanging off the intake, damaged, with the end cap missing. I dont know what happened but I can safely say this probably isnt the best place to go for repairs.

I run a fleet of pickups and cars in and out of CA as our jobs move, when I have our fleet units in or near oceanside these are the only guys Ill use. I usually have my personal machanic handle any car I have, but this one in particular needed more than what is beyond an independent mechanic can do. Comment: Jorge Alonso Auto Repair was able to get our F250 ready for smog (OBDII monitor not ready) after 2 years of trying with various smog shops and repair facilities who all said,” You just have to drive it”. Hundreds of miles later we found Jorge thru an online search of how to diagnose smog issues. They found the issue in no time, a $170 sensor + diagnostics. Passed smog same day. Jorge was honest, a great communicator, full of knowledge and reasonably priced. We added some other items like AC, which only needed freon, they asked us to come back in 2 weeks at n/c to verify no leaks. We were updated by text, phone and email throughout the process. Auto Repair when I was searching for someone to do a pre-purchase inspection on an older car I was interested in buying from a private party as my teenage sons first car. Not only do I want to make sure my kid drives a safe vehicle, but also being on a limited budget I dont want to invest in a lemon and that is why INSPECTIONS ARE PARAMOUNT.Marlene is a great receptionist/assistant, very personable, and Jorge was equally relatable on the phone and very helpful in setting up an appointment that worked for both the seller and me. I wanted a classic inspection plus a compression test. The car was put on a lift and shortly thereafter Jorge called me over to show me his first findings. He pointed out some major issues and several massive red flags, which I would not have suspected since none of it was readily apparent with a basic visual inspection on the street, the car felt great on a test drive, and it had passed smog less than a month prior. Jorge could have gone through the whole inspection before talking to me and charged me for a compression test, but instead he showed me the issues right away and told me that there was no point in doing a compression test and that he couldnt let me buy that car already as it was (not that I would have at that point). He even handled the car owner who was not very happy with being told that his car was a dud and insisted that none of the issues were that bad. Then Jorge also gave me a discount on the inspection. With my budget and knowing that I am going to have to go through this again until I actually find a car worth buying, that was very much appreciated.Did I say Marlene is great? She is both professional and great for casual banter while waiting around for services to be performed. I had a pretty fun time at the mechanics isnt exactly a sentence I expected to utter, especially when I got bad news while there. Anyway, all this to say that I am now keeping an eye out specifically for vehicles for sale within a 15 minutes radius from J.A. Auto Repair so that I can get any further inspections done there. I trust Jorge and his team to be honest with me and act in my best interest, and they are great people to be around, so they definitely have my business anytime I need a mechanic in that area. Comment: A good friend of mine referred me to Jorge Alonso Auto Repair so I took my Chevrolet Camaro there for an oil change and tire rotation and was so impressed with Marlene at the front desk who gave me the details that I would be getting text messages and emails on each step of the car repair process. I dont think that any other car repair shops do this. I also received an in depth PDF report on the repairs made and other important observations about the care - including a non-urgent oil leak and a chip in the windshield that I had no idea about! The report included pictures and video as well. That was awesome. I also liked the option of having a free rental car for a day so that I didnt have to get a ride or call a rideshare. Very pleased with what I had read I booked an appointment to have them look at my car. I was able to take that photo Jorge sent me and send it to the other shop, who has now since issued a check refunding the amount needed to fix the problem. Every touch by Jorge and his team was personalized. My 3 yo daughter in particular loved the little bag of candy and handwritten note they left on the dash as a thank you. It was an incredible experience and I would recommend it to anyone!

The others told me it was the catalytic converters, we almost spent a load of money for them to be bought and replaced. Good thing we came here! Comment: Wow, their customer service is unmatched. I took my car here to be checked out and had such a great experience. The mechanics drove with me to see if he could hear exactly what I was hearing. He was thorough and took his time to figure out the car’s issue. The owner greeted me and told me he was going to order new tires and that they would be in first thing in the morning. While I was waiting I was offered coffee, candy, and was told that I was welcome to watch anything on TV (they even have Netflix) while I waited. They offered me a loaner car if I needed to go pick my kids up from school before they were finished working on my vehicle. When I left, it was pouring rain outside so they escorted me to my car with an umbrella! I’m not kidding, hands down great people with great customer service. I even enjoyed the small chats with the receptionist. The shop has such a welcoming/homey feel to it. Lastly, they set a small bag of candy with a thank you note on my dash. These small little things might not seem like a big deal, but I trust them with my vehicle and so does my husband. The extra finishing touches will make us loyal customers.

Comment: I have had my fair share of auto mechanic shops. It is usually a feeling of no choice but to submit to being ripped off. I expected the same thing when I went to Jorge Alonsos, but quickly realized that this place was different. We brought my wifes van in for some concerning sounds in the front suspension. The tech took a ride with me in the van and was truly intrigued by the problem. Jorge Alonso and his tech spent days troubleshooting the problem and used cutting edge microphones to listen to different areas. Most of all Jorge gave me personal in depth updates every day as well as text messages. These guys were on it, and relentless. They got the issues fixed, but best of all was the bill. I thought it would be hefty given the time spent taking front end apart and back together over and over, but it was ultra affordable. Never been to a more honest, in depth, and caring mechanic. I dont do reviews normally but these guys deserve to be known about cause they really go above and beyond and really do care. These guys will be our go to from here on.

Comment: I had my check engine light come on and had what I thought was an issue with my alignment. I thought I’d get both addressed at the same time. They were able to address my concerns within that same day. I received updates throughout the process and the team as courteous and prompt in addressing my needs. Turns out the engine light was only a gas cap, but what I thought was a much need alignment as a problem in my steering column. I had it repaired and I am so grateful and relieved that they were able to identify the problem and repair it. I have a pretty long commute and was so happy that my car rode so much smoother, the steering was responsive and no shaking. It was a pleasant experience with this company and the extra attention to customer service that they showed was much appreciated. Comment: Waited about a week to post this review.I had an AC compressor seize up on me and pretty much messed up the whole HVAC system by sending fragment through the tubing and piping. Eventually got the car dropped off at Jorges place. He called me the next day and communicated to me many times about what the problem was with my car and the actions he was gonna have to do to repair my vehicle. He was very friendly and knowledgeable. He kept me updated on everything they were doing including the labor and parts they would have to order. When they finished repairing my car they tested the vehicle to make sure everything was in working order as it should be. Comment: I’m from out of town and found Jorge’s website. My check engine light was on and I was worried about making the 700 mile return trip home pulling our camping trailer. Jorge’s tech did a thorough evaluation and although they didn’t do the major motor repair work, he did give me specific valuable info on how to get the car and family home safely, and what to have done to/with the car once we were home. Comment: 99 Honda Prelude: 7 days for a timing belt, water pump, thermostat, and new hoses. Friendly staff. Very clean shop. Most likely great for just an oil change / tire rotation. Poor communication. Didnt receive any finalized quotes; went from $1600 to $2400 for what should be an 8-12hr job. Purchased the most expensive water pump kit on the market ($459, goes for $150 on most part store sites) and crankshaft pulley ($388, typically $160). Would not show receipts for any purchased parts. Labor hours not stated on invoice. Valve cover removed and covered ~50% with a dirty shop rag. Asked to have cam seals replaced 4 separate times (for preventative maintenance), never replaced or considered. Was offered a loaner car on day 5. Came in day 7 to forcefully take my vehicle back in its current condition, even if a tow was required, still without any update on the vehicle. The work was nearly complete, conveniently, but wouldve easily sat for another day had I not come in person.$150 to remove 2 broken bolts on the pump and valve cover. Good workmanship on all replaced parts. Very very poor timing, price, convenience, and communication.

Comment: Jorge Alonso Auto repair was 10/10 and the best experience I have ever had with a mechanic. The staff at the front desk were smiling and happy to see everyone that came in and they didnt pressure me to get extra work done. I received texts when my car was beginning repair and texted a link with the summary of all the work they saw that needed to be done along with things that could be done, but could wait. These were listed in order of priority along with pictures to show where the work was needed. This was followed up with a phone call and a quote. When I picked up my car, there was a bag of candy on the seat along with a packet of all the information about the work done and a 2 year warranty on all repairs. My car runs like a dream now!3 days after I picked up my car I got a card in the mail from the shop that was signed by the entire staff thanking me for my patronage. I cant recall a time I have ever received this from any business! If this isnt quality service, I dont know what is. Couldnt recommend more!

Comment: I had called this shop on a Saturday because my car wouldnt start after I had bought a brand new battery at another place the previous weekend. I had talked to Sam talked me through some things I could check before I brought my car in. Once I got it to start I brought it down to the shop and immediately was helped by their friendly clerk.I told her what happened and then Sam came out and took a look at what was going on with my car and walked me through/ explained things so I understood (since I am not a car savvy person whatsoever). They pulled my car in and fixed the connection problem with the battery from being installed incorrectly from the other place.It was very nice to go into a shop where the staff is so friendly and professional. It really seemed that they care about their customers. Being a young woman, a lot of auto shops try and take advantage of that and lack of car knowledge to scam, but this place was completely different.They also have a rewards program that is free to sign up for and helps you save money! Who wouldnt want that!?After everything was said and done, I got into my car and found a nice little bag of candy, a new pen, and a little flashlight for my keychain. Little things like that really make you feel appreciated as a customer.I give this place 5 stars!10/10 would recommend to anyone.
