Kils TKD provides a safe, friendly environment for anyone wanting to develop themselves physically and mentally. Flexible class schedules and a large facility offer opportunities for families to train together, or for adults and children to train separately. My own experience has far exceeded my expectations. After 2 years of training I am a much stronger person, and still look forward to going to class several times/week.
My two daughters and I have attended Kils School of Tae Kwon Do for 9 years. Kils has reinforced and taught values to my daughters that reach far beyond self defense. Confidence, self-respect, respect of others and discipline are a few of those important values. Many teenage girls struggle with body image. My daughters have not had that challenge as Tae Kwon Do has always kept them fit, and given them confidence within themselves. The supportive, caring environment has become a second family to us all. Master Sung Yup Kil has often helped reinforce and support my parenting decisions with the girls. As a single parent I have found Master Kils support invaluable. He has taught and nurtured them as though the girls were his own, giving them support and guidance when they have needed it. As is true of all things, there is no replacement for conscientious parenting, however Kils Tae Kwon Do has been an essential, welcome and fun part of the emotional, physical, and intellectual development of my family. I thank You Master Kil!!
Kils Tae Kwon Do center has provided a fun and safe learning environment. I have been going to the studio for two years and plan to continue through the rest of highschool and college. The instructors here have done everything they can to accomodate me and help me to learn and grow in Tae Kwon Do. I have become more self-cofident and feel more equipped to handle any unsafe situation. Both adults and children will find themselves falling in love with Tae Kwon Do and all the new friends they will meet ecspecially Mrs. Kelly.
My two sons and I have been here for eleven years, after a experience at a different school, we decided this is a far better school for our family. It is a very friendly environment .The instructors here are very much hands on and are dedicated to their profession.My daughter and wife have also taken Kick boxing here and love it.I would recommend this place to anyone looking to become a martial artist.David. Friendly staff and great instructors provide a fun, family activity. My children started at 4 years old and enjoy the activities and learning TKD. A lot of class times available and they do everything they can to accomodate schedules and needs of each child.
Master Kil is the best! Very patient with children and extremely knowledgeable. Weve been going there for a few months and our son still cant stop talking about how much he loves it there.
My wife and I joined Kil’s Taekwondo Brighton in August 2018 for both the Taekwondo and Kickboxing classes. The atmosphere is great and both the staff and fellow students are very helpful and supportive. We have enjoyed spending time and learning martial arts together.Master Kil’s extensive knowledge and experience help make him an excellent instructor for students of all ages and skill levels.The Cardio Kickboxing instructors are also Taekwondo Master Black Belts, so they reinforce proper Taekwondo punching and kicking techniques for each student based on belt/skill level. More practice/repetitions is priceless!
My 9 year old son is in Tae Kwon Do here and he really enjoys it. They have a get group of instructors and work great with all age levels. It has helped my son to focus more, to be more organized, and have more self confidence. I am glad he has joined and would recommend Kils Tae Kwon DO.
My child was interested in this kind of sport and I took them here, let me tell you ,I was very DISSATISFIED and DISAPPOINTED very shortly after!! Im telling YOU Parents our there, you better take home that contract and read it very CAREFULLY before you SIGN it !! And make sure you ask what the cost that you’ll be paying COVERS!! Other wise you’ll find yourself shocked just as much as I did!! I find Mr. Kill very manipulative, the way he talks to the parents and the kids!! And YOU Parents out there better make sure you ask what’s to be expected in the months to come if you take your child there!! I do have to say I love Instructor Kelly there! She is amazing with the kids!!
My daughter LOVES Kils Tae Kwon Do! Master Kil is so good with the kids and really helps to build their confidence. I have seen a major change in my daughters behavior in school and at home. My favorite part is when they are doing kicks and punches on the bags to the chanting respect my parents. Makes me smile every time I hear it.
Master Kil is a great teacher. My life changed for the better the day I met him. I started training when I was 54 years old and it has been great. I am in the best shape of my entire life.I recommend Kils TKD for anyone any age. mark

2021-10-11Master Kils in Brighton has been amazing for our 6 year old son. We signed him up to help him develop confidence, positive self-talk and strength -- and Master Kil has helped with all three. He has high expectations in terms of both behavior and performance, but he takes the time to positively reinforce the kids and give them clear guidance as to how to reach their goals. We couldnt be happier with the program and his instruction!

2021-09-17My son attends at the Brighton location.Master Kil and the school is, of course, formal. Respect is required, and he provides a guidebook for the kids which outlines expectations. This includes showing respect for parents, keeping your room clean (ok, my 13y/o son hasnt mastered either), and getting good grades in school.Indeed, these positive behaviors are required for advancement.When testing for advancement, he will ask how the child is doing, what they are doing well and what needs improvement.However, the classes are not stiflingly formal. In fact, they are relatively relaxed, with a family-like atmosphere. I think this quality inspires the students to push themselves, knowing their peers only want to see them succeed.About a month ago there was a new student, a young girl, probably 10 years old. She became frustrated and was crying in the foyer. The kid was lacking confidence and afraid of failure. Her mom comforted her, and was able to get her back inside.Master Kil and the other instructors (and students) neither coddled the young girl nor displayed disappointment. They did not pressure her own waste time trying to bolster her with meaningless words.Instead, Master Kil didnt allow her time to think and experience fear and doubt: he quickly guided her through some motions, gently correcting and providing honest praise. He proved to her that she could do it, and failure is nothing to fear.Shes been fine since.The students age between 5 and 70+! They are all friendly, pleasant and hard-working. Talent is widely varied. Master Kil never pushes a person inappropriately, but he assures that they know that their capabilities will always exceed their limitations.The atmosphere is not competitive: it is inspiring.People naturally strive for their goals.Yes, Master Kil makes his credentials known, and for good reason: he has clearly earned his staggeringly high rank (8th black, I believe) and has a real resume to back it up. How many can say they trained under an Olympian?On a related note, I believe he will be testing for 9th black, the highest actual rank possible (apparently 10th is an honorary rank), and incredibly difficult to attain.On top of that, Master Kil is a really nice guy.I highly recommend Kils Taekwondo.I included a picture of my son breaking a board while testing for yellow belt.

2020-11-17I thought it would be good for my son to learn TaeKwonDo; so, I signed us both up I was more interested in the exercise & self defense; but, I do enjoy all aspects of the class Master Kil is an excellent instructor & my son has gained confidence & self assuredness There are students of all ages gaining benefits I highly recommend his teaching

2019-02-07Young or old, Kils Taekwondo is the essential place to study a strong martial discipline based on practical self defense. Master Kil, a national champion, teaches in an atmosphere of respect and moral integrity. Our 8 year old grandson loves it and so will you!

2019-01-24Grand master kil is a true master of this art and it shows in his teaching. The family friendly classes allows for brings out the best in everyone. Not only do you learn traditional taekwondo but cardio kick boxing is included in your membership, highly recommend to everyone.

2015-03-28My son (age 5) has been in classes here since the summer of 2014 and we have had a great experience. Master Kil, Master Caleb, Ms. Kelly and all of the instructors do an excellent job. Its amazing to see the progress that my son has made in just under a year.
