It has been YEARS since I last visited Kingman Museum. So long ag that I didnt have any idea what to expect. We were delighted to find many interesting and informative exhibits and a small planetarium. It was a great time! I am sad now that I waited so long to get back there!
Great museum with local items and items from around the world collected by Battle Creek families through history. My natural history living 12-year-old loved it.As the owner of #ToursAroundMichigan, Im a history fan myself and found extra tidbits to share on local history tours.

I might be wrong it has been 20 years. The exhibits seem alot smaller then I remember. The lighting on the exhibits need to be reworked. Should be more lights inside of the glass enclosure instead of spotlights in the middle of the room. The staff was friendly and willing to help with anything we needed or any questions. Kinda wish there was more to see or just something new to refresh the exhibits.
I was expecting a smaller version of the Field Museum in Chicago, but was a little disappointed. The museum is more for children than adults. Mostly they have collections on animal skeletons, taxidermy, and rocks and minerals. I liked the brachiosaurus femur bone, the megalodon teeth, and their massive rock collection in the basement. But be sure to go on the weekend where admission is free.
We went to see Paleo Joe, it was a nice lecture of just under an hour with a tour/question and answer session down stairs with the fossils and rock exhibits. We planned on going to a planetarium show afterwards, however we did not know it would be closed because thats where the lecture was taking place until we arrived.

2018-07-22What wonderful museum to visit with your family. Its small but theres 3 floors of history and educational games and activities for children of all ages. They also have a planetam show every 15 to 30 minutes. They also have a nice gift shop, small but alot to choose from. The prices were average for a small museum.

2020-08-19We always have a great time at Kingman. I visited as a child and now I bring my children. Im so grateful that theyve been able to adapt and bring the museum outside 1x week while the museum is closed due to COVID. The displays and activities dont disappoint. I learn right along with my kiddos!

2019-04-11The staff was friendly. The museum was interesting. A bit smaller than I expected but nice. I also will say that the upstairs was kind of open with a rail around the open area that looked below but it was scary having small children up there. That being said it was still a pleasant experience and the fossils in the basement were very interesting.
