Comment: Walking around the area seemed clean the views of the lake are beautiful, and the fishing was great. At least one fish was caught each time we went. The only thing is you have to constantly be moving or else you’re bombarded with tiny spiders. I understand spiders are going to be in nature I’m OK with that, but these were relentless making webs all over my face and everyone else around me cannot stand still without spiders getting all over them. If you’re on the dock it’s a bit more tame but anywhere else you couldn’t escape them. For the restrooms let’s just say I have PTSD, absolutely disgusting full and of spiders everywhere the second time we came we used the shower bathrooms at the entrance and tried not to drink too much so we could avoid the porta potties. I think if you were on a boat, it’s a great space fishing spot. My kids did great, but I couldn’t enjoy much because I was constantly having to brush off the spiders..

Comment: We stayed at M camping ground for a day on the weekend. The scenery was great, but there were too many people. The children were running around in the camp and their parents didnt care. A Spanish speaker group kept playing loud music and even started singing karaoke around 10:00pm.There was no management. The toilet was very dirty and no light. We will not go there again.

Comment: Great recreation area. Water level (Spring 2024) is at 98% and looks gorgeous! Very busy campground, lots of campers. Noise travels far so of you are a light sleeper and sleeping in a tent, bring ear plugs.Couldnt find it posted online: showers require tokens: $1 gets you 4 minutes. Extra tokens are non refundable.

Comment: Very good campground with every style of camping amenity. From full executive style hookups to basic dry campsites and day camping/picnic/group meet-up sites/boat ramp. There is a restaurant, bait shop, grocery, and multiple black water dump sites throughout. Rent a boat but keep out of the water.

Comment: Beautiful lake. This gem used to be a a potential world record potential for Florida strain large mouth bass. Unfortunately its not managed well anymore but still holds its beauty when they allow water in and not spilling into the pacific ocean. Its only 16 miles from the pacific ocean to the highest mountain tops so when California gets rain it usually just gets wasted into the pacific. Very poor water management here. The lake is usually very low in drought years.

Comment: They will allow campsites to turn into loud block parties that don’t stop all night! Playing loud boombox in highest volume until past 1am with NO STAFF enforcing lights out at 10pm. What a waste of $80 for ONE night ! Not including the $10 we were charged just for driving around to find a spot day before. Had to leave first thing in morning because the party started back up. Couldn’t even make the breakfast I bought food for because it didn’t feel safe.I’m an experienced camper who spends weeks at a time driving around the country and this is the first campsite where Lights out at 10pm are NOT enforced . Thank GOD I don’t have kids because they would have learned every swear word in the book last night

Comment: Never again. This place tacks on so many fees to nickel and dime you at every turn, and it is absolutely not worth it whatsoever. Its not even nice there.1. When booking they do alert you that there is an extra fee to park additional vehicle(s) in your campsite. 🙄 they dont actually say what that daily fee is. Its $18 a day or $24 on weekends and they consider Fridays weekends! For a 4 night stay this totaled $84. Just to park 1 car in the campsite we already paid over $200 for. Ridiculous.2. We booked a 60 long campsite for our very large RV. We arrived to find out the site was nowhere near 60 it was more like 40. The camp host directed us back to the front gates where they told us there would be a $6 fee for moving sites. Ridiculous to charge us for their mistake. There were over 25 other sites available for our dates.3. We didnt want to stay 4 nights in the first place but they force you to book Saturday night if you stay Friday nights. No flexibility. There are like 400 campsites in this park.4. The campsites are very far from level. The maps are extremely outdated and confusing. There are people partying loudly into the night. There are 2 dump stations but the one thats convenient isnt open until after 7pm on weekdays only. They even charge you more to use the showers on top of all the other fees, and they arent available when the water park is open. The bathrooms are disgusting. You cant swim in the lake. There was a $15 processing fee that you pay for the pleasure of paying them. There is nothing good about this place.Truly this is one of the worst camping experiences we have ever had and we hated it.

Comment: Did 4 nights of camping at the Grebe campground. At least thats what we paid for. Left after dinner before the 4th night because the weekend gets pretty lawless. My impression of the campground is that there are far too many people and far too few staff. Website says 2 cars per site, but the reality was more if you can fit it, go ahead. Large groups took 3+ adjacent campsites, parked all over, and stayed awake all night. One campsite took over the water spigot to run a hose to fill 2 large inflatable pools. At 3 a.m., one camper asked a group of still partying campers to keep it down as people were sleeping, the response was to become more belligerent and shout Call the f------ ranger then! There is a patrol that went around between 11 and midnight. They never stop though, just cruised through as fast as they could reasonably go.Bathrooms are a mess and arent checked or cleaned enough. Full of spiders, clogged, flooded, you name it. Daily. The grounds are great! Long hilly roads to bike ride, really hilly and curvy disc golf course that was too much for this beginner. And Ojai is so close and an easy drive to and from. Its a shame the campgrounds, at least Grebe, soured a lot of it.

Comment: Very expensive for the quality of service. They charged $48 for an extra car for 2 nights. Their bathrooms were always clogged, we called 5 times during 2 nights that we stayed for them to come and fix the toilets. There were lines even at 11PM for the rest room.Water park was even worse. Over crowded, they had one equipment with three slides, and a slow waterway. They called it lazy river. $23 per person for three hours of stay about 2/3 of the sunloungers we’re blocked because they said they were reserved. And most of them weren’t ever used during our stay.To take a shower you had to go out of the park by another ticket and come back to use the shower for four minutes so the field paid did not cover a shower that you could use to clean yourself!

Comment: We paid the new higher rates for executive camp spot for F 13. It was hot ( 92 degrees) but their power would trip breaker if I ran both AC units at same time. I had to run my generator for 6 hrs each so we could have a cool place for grand kids to take a break. Water pressure so low my water tank and pump gave better supply. Talked to Casitas maintenance person he reply was you can’t run 2 AC units, but they didn’t seem to mind me paying $90 a night.seems like this may become a winter only place for camping.

Comment: As a young kid growing up in the 60s, I used to camp at Lake Casitas and Lake Cachuma. My uncle had a 16 foot 1961 Aljo cabover travel trailer. The cabovers were very rare, it could easily sleep 8 adults, but it was not self- contained, it was very nice and comfortable. He towed it with a 1964 Chrysler 300 2 door hardtop. It was light blue over light blue vinyl interior. A very cool Chrysler. It had the stock 383, engine, no air conditioning or power anymore, but man was it fast and powerful, it handled that 16 foot trailer like it wasnt even there. It could flatten steep grades with ease, and it never would overheat. We lived in the San Fernando Valley. We would spend a weekend every month, alternate between Casitas and Cachuma. It was maybe 100 to 150 miles one way up U.S 101 which was perfect for a 2 day weekend. I learned so much about camping and trailer towing. Soon I would handle the entire hitch-up and campsite set up. Leveling the trailer, putting out the lawn chairs and other campsite stuff. It was all I could or wanted to think about. We would rent small aluminum boats and go fishing or just cruise around the lakes. I really loved every minute of it, but hated having to come home on Sunday afternoons. Both those lakes seemed huge to me at the time. Im greatful for those two lakes and my uncle for making it all possible. Those trips taught me about life and what I loved about life. When I grew up, I would go camping with my friends. We would rent C class motor homes until I could afford to buy one for myself. It was a 33 foot Southwind class a motorhome that I had special ordered. I loved that motorhome so much. When we werent traveling, I would spend time and money messing with it. My dad used to say it was a huge hole in the road that I would throw money into. He was right of course but it was my hole and wouldnt have had it any other way.

Comment: This is definitely one of the must visit camping areas in the county, conveniently located with easy access, water park, well stocked park store, firewood, boat rental, fishing license available to purchase, fishing gear, canoeing, kayaking, disc golf, little snack place and a lot of land to explore, hike or ride your bike, good opportunity to connect with nature at a safe location with park ranger on duty ( to take care of those wild people who think camping means partying lol ). Simply a great place to enjoy with your family.

Comment: I absolutely love staying here at Lake Casitas, especially during the fall months. Any direction you look is such a beautiful peaceful view. I constantly catch myself just staring at the natural beauty that surrounds this place. As for the campground itself I have no complaints. It can get a little rowdy on a busier weekend, a lot of partiers, but they’ve never caused any issues or made me and my daughter feel uncomfortable. The staff and park rangers are all pretty friendly. I’ve stayed in Indian and was not a fan at all, mostly because of the distance it is away from the entrance. I now stay in Bass and honestly love it. The showers/bathroom could use an upgrade and some cleaning, but that’s to be expected in my opinion, plus I have a 40 ft fifth wheel so I don’t use them very often. Can’t wait for the new water park coming in the summer of 2023.

Comment: We had an AMAZING time, on our Group Glamping Trip! The landscape was lush and serene. The air was perfect! Our campsite was equipped with water and electrical hookups, a picnic table, a fire pit, a tree, enough space for our SUV, a 28ft trailer and more! We will definitely be heading back. Making the reservation was easy, and checking in was a breeze. You MUST visit. You can clearly see all of the stars, and the big, beautiful moon, at night. Oh, and check out our fire! So cool! Our neighboring campers had dogs, and we saw several animals (hawks, squirrels, birds, skunks) that reminded us we were truly enjoying a nature-filled weekend. We had a trailer, so we had a restroom with a shower, along with a kitchen. Our friends were totally there for the tenting experience, and though their restroom tent could accommodate a shower attachment, they went to the showers at the campground. It was a good time for us all. We grouped some picnic tables together, and that was our main dining space. We also played a few games, like Cards Against Humanity, Jenga, and Cornhole. My bestie made and brought cocoa bombs for everyone, along with cinnamon rolls to warm by the fire pit. I cannot wait to go back! I will have another trailer delivered to my campsite, and setup by Camping Adventures! My little place was clean, and absolutely perfect!

Comment: Camp sites are clean, showers and restrooms needed to be cleaned!!Came to fish, camped the night before and the morning of while driving down to launch ramp the gates were closed. Called front desk and they said gates were closed for the day for a marathon. Wouldve been nice to know when they inspected the boat the night before!Other than that the park is a nice place for families to come and enjoy!

Cant understand why the campgrounds cant have grass. The water park is a joke and the water is filthy... the only good thing is staff is friendly and they come and pick up ur trash every morning...

Comment: This place is a good place to camp and fish. There are spots that you can reserve to be with your friends and families if you want. There is also a water park here and it has the lazy river. Lake Casitas can get up to 100 degrees so be aware. Also, when eating, there will be wasps/bees so I recommend to bring a wasp bag to hang up.

Comment: This was the second time we came here to camp. The first time was great. Everything was clean and quiet. The people were respectful. The second time was the polar opposite. Kid checking us in at the booth would not stop eating chicken while talking to us, then did not direct us on where to go. There was zero respect for quiet hours. Groups were blasting music and talking loud until about 2 am +. People were throwing trash everywhere. The bathrooms had feces on the floor with tp stuck on top of it. There was also a strong sewer smell. In 3 days and 2 nights the bathroom nearest our site wasn’t cleaned or stocked once. This was the antithesis of what camping is about. Zero respect. Zero enforcement.

Comment: 1st time here was nice probably wont drive 2 hours again to visit this campsite. They have a lazy river thats 15$ person just to pass the gate even if ur not getting in. 2 sessions one in the am and one in the which 3 - 6:30pm. Cant wear denim shorts but another material is fine. They charge 20$ per day per vehicle fee. If your there for a weekend its 60$ no if ands or buts. This location is very clean and loved the recycling bins ! You can fish here kids 16 & under dont need a license.

Comment: Great destination for some outdoors camping. We stayed at campsite F, it had full hookups including sewer. Site had a cement pad to park on, fire ring, picnic table and there was plenty room between neighbors and room for an additional vehicle. Campsite area was clean of litter and well groomed.I will stay there again👍 only bad thing was the water park is only open on weekends and half of it in under construction. And to top it off they now charge twice if you want to enjoy the water park all day witch I think its to expensive they should just charge for a day pass and thats it

Comment: It was a fun campsite and I would probably go again just not in the summer or to camp overnight TBH. It was so hot I was melting. I didnt realize the boat rentals had to be made 24 hours in advance, hiking trails not really available at all, and I think its a place more geared to fishing/boating and RVs than anything else. The decent bathrooms are far and few between. They do have Portapotties near each campsite but beware when you open them. They basically baked underneath the hot son and triggered my gag reflex. Their waterpark is only available on Sat/Sun and they got rid of the playground splash pad. They did have delicious snow cones in front of the camp store near Fox ground, I think it was. The view over the lake was spectacular and the sunsets were so beautiful.

Comment: I love going to this lake. Even though the water level is very low and there is a lot of people on the weekends, the path which passes the the bald eagles is peaceful.I would recommend sunblock, lots of water, and a hat if you plan on walking the 2 mile path. There isnt much shade and you could easily feel overheated. Be sure to bring in a light lunch or snacks so you can enjoy a refuel at the end of the trail. Dont be surprised if you come across some deer on your way.The $10 entrance fee during weekdays and the $20 entrance fee during weekends and holidays is worth it in my experience. The land is always clean. This is a perfect place to relax, have a BBQ or get yourself on a boat and do some fishing.

Comment: What a joke of a campground. Dirty and why bother, there’s hardly a lake left. I played disc golf and lost two discs on a Friday and by Saturday someone had found it and when I went back to get it, they said I had to pay $10 to go get it. So they basically stole my property and would not let me drive in quickly and turn around. Jerks. Never going back.

I offered to pay and asked to get the money back if I leave in 5 min and they said no. I didnt pay and left under protest and will never camp there. Comment: This place is a dump. False advertisement, there is no lake.. Just a couple of mud puddles and no fish. Very disappointed. The facilities are outhouses, dirty, trash strewn about and very little sites to choose from as the majority of the lake was closed.Water Park: Again, save your money unless you like being stuck in a watery version of the 405.. in Mexico.. My experience was wretched.Park policies: When I made the reservation I only wanted one day. A Saturday. I was told reservations require a two day stay regardless of whether you are going to be there or not. I figured, ok.. Its my daughters bday and I want to teach my son to fish.. Why not. When we arrive on Friday to check in, I was in my car as the RV was being serviced. I informed the man at the gate and he proceeded to charge me an additional $14.00 dollars. When I asked what the additional charge was for he said it was policy that additional vehicles pay $14.00. I said, okay, that makes sense. However, this is one vehicle, I had just paid $120.00, for the site and this one vehicle would be in the site one night, until the following day, I would be bringing the RV (one vehicle) and leaving the other vehicle at home. After some debate with, Abel (a manager...lol.. hardly). Heinsists if I want to use my camp site this evening either I would be paying an additional $15.00 dollars for my vehicle or my RV that I would be bring the following day. One site, one car. That makes sense. The policy is as such the pass is written once and the park management will not make any exceptions.I get it.. Its only $15.00. Its the principal of it. They nickel and dime the very patrons who keep them open. I will not be back and I highly suggest to anyone else thinking about spending their hard earned money there. Many, many, many other places to go in the area that have way better amenities, at a better price and no sneaky policies in place designed for profit. If you let them they will scam you out of every cent they can.If, IF you still decide to go.. If you have an extra vehicle or friend have them park out front. Its free.

Limited hours of operation. You can also rent boats and they have a tackle shop they are on premise.theres a general store, which sells a variety of items you might need . Miscellaneous Sundries, variety of food items ice cream, beer and wine is also available for purchase there too🍺🍷.Lots of people camping out in RV’s and tents. They were still allowing small fires within designated fire rings and barbecue pits. There are several nice mountain bike trails to enjoy and hiking, fishing .The Frisbee golf course located inside the park is awesome with a high degree of difficulty .⛳️

Comment: The campgrounds were adequate and clean. Everyone working at the gates, cafe, store, docks and especially the boat rental place were extremely friendly and knowledgeable. No one I talked to caught any fish last weekend, but it was hot and we went out around 11am, which is a little late for catching fish in 90 degree weather. The Disc Golf course was fun, but very hard being a first timer and it was just too hot so we gave up after 6 holes. I cant wait to go back in cooler weather. 5 stars all day for the potential.

Comment: Fun campground with lots to do. Hike, fish, bike ride, etc. Most spots are nowhere near the water so dont think its a typical lake campground. Water park is great, but buy tickets early or youll be lucky to get in. The power is hit or miss when its really hot. Been here several times where the power went out for extended periods of time and when its 100+ it can be miserable. Generators are a easy backup plan and lots of canopies couldnt hurt. Sewer hookups arent at all the spots. Huge variety in quality of sites from dirt to concrete so do some research on the spots. Overall I recommend.

Comment: Stay was okay, not my favorite campground. Everyone who worked here was very nice, cafe was good (quesadilla was great!) and It was very convenient to have the store there. We ended up having to grab a Yellowjacket trap at the store because they’re everywhere! We couldn’t even make breakfast without them swarming all over us, so that was a bummer. Not sure what time you’d have to get to the boat rental place but they sell out quickly on the weekends (got there around 11am on Saturday and all boats were sold out). The sites are pretty close together also. One of the toilets clogged in our bathroom and nobody came by to clean/unclog the whole weekend. Overall just an alright experience, probably won’t come back.

Even though youre not allowed to swim in the lake, youll be able to enjoy the hiking trails, the awesome and friendly camp managers, and the beautiful views. Highly recommended spot to BBQ and a few beverages. Great for families with kids.

Comment: We payed appx $70 for two nights to camp with water and a bathroom. After the first night, water was turned off completely to the entire camp. My pregnant wife and I couldn’t shower and were told to use the “chemical bathrooms”. Despite the fact we weren’t provided the service we paid for, we were only refunded one night. To get this refund, we were told we had 30 mins to completely refund leave the site and arrive at the reservation office (no easy task). Campsite had multiple snake holes and tons of soldier ants. You could hardly open your eyes with all of the bugs. Avoid, for your own sake.

Comment: Would give it a lower rating if I could, we were promised water, clean restrooms, and a shower and got none of that. We booked 2 nights thinking we would get those basic things at a $35 a night campground. Smh, what a disappointment. Oh and the funny part is the fact that we did get that the first night and they locked the restrooms the next morning because they had to shut off the water? Gave us no warning this would happen before paying $70.

The other guests where friendly quiet and the evening was cool with a nice breeze. Not loud at all. Loved hearing the sounds of nature while we settled down for the night. We RV camp so no need to use the facilities but there are flushing toilets water facet near every sight.

Comment: We went camping for the weekend. It was hot. The camps are really close together and it got really crowded during the weekend. Mostly everyone was cordial. I would give 3 stars if I was ranking the campers. The bathrooms and showers get messed up pretty fast. We had some kids from another campsite that thought it was funny to plug up the toilets and then use them. The staff was pretty great about it. Especially Ranger Ozuna. She couldnt get ahold of maintenance and went the extra mile and a half to plunge out the toilets herself! So the staff and the park is pretty great. I cant vouch for your fellow campers.

Comment: With the recreation high season in full swing, the refuse flowers are in a wonderous and awe inspiring bloom. They can be spotted along all paths, roads and even in the water! Enjoy the multitude of colors and varying shapes as well as sizes. Its a shame that the folks enjoying this gorgeous location dont bother packing out everything they brought in. The shoreline, paths and roads are littered with trash. Everything from plastic bottles, aluminum cans, plastic bags, fishing bait containers/packaging to paper towels and more. If youre looking to experience inner city level camping with all of the noise, cars and garbage, well then this is your spot. Drink it in!

Comment: I went up here with my brother, boyfriend, and his friend. We stayed in the grebe campground and really enjoyed it! We had a gorgeous view of the lake and a big meadow right behind us that we played frisbee in. The site was smaller than what were used to but we didnt have next door neighbors and we had the big field so it didnt feel small. We fit our big tent and the friends small tent as well as 3 cars (we could have fit another). They allow up to 4 but you have to pay extra for more than one. They had one big tree that gave us some shade on our tent in the morning but once the sun was up there were lots of bees! They didnt bother me so much since I have the I wont bother you, you dont bother me motto. If you make a fire the smoke keeps them away and at night they arent there either. Plus we left for most of the day so we were hardly around them. The stars were amazing to see at night, I live in a suburb so the light pollution limits our visibility, so when we got away I saw 2-3 times as many as normal. Another thing I liked about this site is that we were in a good walking distance from the restrooms, 2 stalls for the girls and they were really clean for a camp bathroom and they flushed so double plus haha! No sink but a dispenser of hand sanitizer on the wall. No showers but we were only there for a weekend so no issue in that for me and no water spicket near us for washing pots or other things. We just used water jugs we brought along. If youre okay with slight roughing it for a bit then this is great!I also want to add that you cannot swim in this lake since its a drinking water reserve but you can bring a boat, kayak, or paddle boards. We actually left and drove down to the beach (about a 25 min drive) so the guys could surf and we picked more firewood and ice up on the way back. The campgrounds have a store but I didnt go in and see prices, I assume they must be marked up a good bit but again thats just an assumption.

Comment: My brother in law has had a season pass for over 15 years and visits the park every morning. For years Wednesdays was fishing day and he would go before sun rise. This season due to health reasons he has rarely fished. Getting the boat in the water has become difficult for him due to a disability. When Im in town I get up early and help him get the boat in the water and go straight back to the house, a task that takes less than 20 minutes. This morning we waited at the gate for about 20 minutes before someone came out only to tell us I wouldnt be allowed in unless I paid the $10 enterance fee. This was unacceptable to him so we both returned home.I have many times been allowed into state parks to look around without paying and have helped my brother-in-law launch his boat at Lake Casitas, without paying an enterance fee. Its crazy that a disability should prevent someone from getting a chance to do what he loves.

Comment: Beautiful.Kinda a bummer theres no water activities allowed . I wasnt impressed with the attendant at the front gate. I missed my Neices wedding ceremony due to that attendant. I told him we were running late and my Neice was holding the service up waiting on us. We were short.75¢ for the park entrance/daily stay fee, and the attendant not only was slow and wasted my time and but he wouldnt even try to work out a way for me to get the stupid.75¢ to him later that day. Ive never had anyone be so uncooperative to me like that any where and especially under such a pressing/ important circumstance. Wow. Make sure you arent short even a penny for entrance to that place cause they dont understand normal thinking at that front gate area at all. Other then THAT. THE PARK WAS AMAZINGLY TAKEN CARE OF. NO TRASH . NO LOUD OUT OF LINE GUESTS. NO LOUD PARTIES OR WEIRD PEOPLE .The park was in great shape.

Comment: We missed the arrival time of 9pm because we simply couldn’t find it. It was pitch black in the area without any street lights. We tried to call every number on the website and emailed (before 9pm when we realized we wouldn’t make it) in hope of SOMEONE being able to help us out. We only got answering machines letting us know business hours were 8am-3pm. What campground does not have some sort of contact 24 hours/day?? We had to take into a hotel. The next day, in the light, we were able to find the campground. The staff let us know that you can absolutely check in after 9pm, but the night staff were not good at answering the phone. We were welcome to fill out a refund for the night we missed. Our request was denied, surprise surprise. We will never go back there for sure. We did spent the second night at the campground and it was probably one of the most boring places we’ve stayed at. We had picked a site, that according to the map, was close to the water. It was probably half a mile away, but it wouldn’t have mattered. There was a fence blocking it anyway. It was clean and the cement slab was leveled, but other than that it was pretty snore. We could have parked in a Walmart lot, same difference. The water park was not open. There was literally nothing more than a parking experience. The fact that the staff doesn’t seem available or care enough to answer the phone obviously didn’t help.Worst customer experience to date.

Comment: Lake Casitas was a favorite of ours when we were raising our kids. Last weekend, we took our grandkids for a birthday. WARNING; The camping area named BASS has very steep cliffs on both sides and there are no warning signs posted. The picture I include reflect the situation. One of our dogs fell off the cliff and sustained a bruised lung and 4 broken ribs. PLEASE be careful with your animals and children as they may sustain serious injury in that area.I have notified Park Supervisors ( Spoke to Staff member Kyler) and they promised to review the situation. I suggested at least posting signs before something really tragic happens.

Comment: On top of an $80 camping fee for the weekend they charge you for pretty much everything else. We had an additional car for which we had to pay $18 a night. Getting to our campsite was so disappointing since there was hardly any shade and the spots were very cramped. In addition to this, you cant go in the lake, however, there is a water park on site which costs $15. We tried getting tickets on friday to use the next day but they were already sold out for the weekend. There were no bathrooms near our area and had to use porta potties which were being shared by the whole campsite (minimum 80-100 people). The only thing that saved our trip was the fact that the Ventura State Beach is about 20 min away so we were able to get some fresh air. This was the first and last time going to Casitas.

Comment: Overpriced small patch of dirt with no shade to camp on. $80 for the 2 nights for a tiny patch of dirt with a table and fire pit. Had to pay $40 extra for the second car even though it was also parked on our spot completly. Water park is tiny with only a lazy river for the adults and was super crowded. Plus they had to close the kids play section because some kid pooped in it. Hardly any tubes for the lazy river too. Cant swim in the lake either. So not much to do there. And over half of the campsites were partying loudly until 3am and the ranger didnt do anything about it. So the kids couldnt sleep and were cranky messes the next day. Disappointed and a waste of $190.

Comment: We stayed in Camp I like in India. It was hot, but we have trees. We had electricity and water hook-ups, too. We even ordered an RV trailer that was delivered to the site. We were on two spaces and we had: the RV trailer, two sleep-6 tents, one sleep-4 tents and one sleep-10 tent. No real bug issue. And as you should, throw your trash away regularly to avoid ants. We enjoyed the water park (buy your tickets in advance) and if you want to rent a boat, do so BEFORE you get to the lake. We also participated in Astronomy night with a scientist fromNASA. He let us look at Saturn and Jupiter through his telescope. Be sure you keep track to how many extra cars you have on site. We paid $18 per night, per vehicle, extra. But it’s a campsite, who wants all those cars around. Oddly, so many people were driving to the showers. We could see the shower and restroom. They were right there. Showers were $1.00 for 5 minutes (quarters only — bring quarters when visiting a state rec area) and $.25 cents for another 1-1/4 min up to 8 mins. Put the soap on your sponge first then start the shower. I was able to shower and wash my hair with time to spare in 6.25 minutes. Lake Casitas is beautiful. Nick at the Park Store is pretty cool, too. Quiet time is 10pm - 8am, no music, but sitting around the camp fire talking reasonably is OK. You’d be surprised how voices carry in the still of the night. The rangers told us to look out for rattle snakes. Luckily we didn’t see any. We did see lots of condors though and they were magnificent. Speed limit is 15 mph, with good reason, especially around the park store. We were 1-1/4 mile away from the park store. We did drive to the store. Bring bicycles, shower shoes, quarters, an extra roll of toilet paper, rent boats before getting to Lake Casitas and buy your water park tickets before you get to camp. Have fun, we sure did.

Comment: The staff here is very friendly, at least in my experience, but the facilities maintenance leaves quite a bit to be desired. They have pay showers for a reasonable price but theyre set to be unbearably hot and there is no way to adjust them. Curfew enforcement is basically non-existent. If you are looking for a quiet camping experience, I suggest you look elsewhere. The water park nearby is okay; however its only a lazy river and a small kid play structure. If you have kids under 8, the waterpark will probably be fun. Its quite a bit more of a stretch for older kids. Definitely not the worst camping experience Ive ever had, but Im in no hurry to return.

Comment: We camped in our 30 class A with at the full hookup site A5. By early pm your awning will do little more than shade the side of your rig because of the layout of the spaces (A6 has better shade, which is critical in the afternoon). Thankfully we had two, in-ground umbrellas which worked well. No grass to speak of, level concrete pads extend to include a large area for their metal picnic table. Basic hookups but no WiFi.We visited off season so the adjacent parking lot felt ridiculously oversized but its an easy walk to cafe and bait shop. There is a park with tables, playground, fish cleaning station, basic restrooms, dog walking area with bags.Lake level is extremely low but its pretty. Long walk to the lakeside if you have any mobility issues at all. We rented a shaded pontoon boat for five hours but didnt catch anything. Not even a bite. It was quiet during our midweek stay.Minimal and infrequent traffic noise from the road nearby. In the park however, there are quite a few vehicles driving past the site. Thankfully, most adhere to the posted limit which is sufficient to keep the sound to a minimum. The boat shop across the lot was apparently working on engines. The noise was loud and offensive but only lasted 10 minutes or so at a time. The check in process was easy enough though I did think the attendant should have come out from his booth to the drivers window. The rate seemed fair, we got what we came for (except for the Bass). We would return if it werent so far outside our orbit.

Comment: We have camped all over the U.S. from New York to Washington State and Japan, let me tell you this about this campground: if you are a serious camper, DONT GO! This place is crowded- loud and crowded, so NOT about camping. If you like crowds, loud neighbors and no privacy its for you. If you are looking for a camping experience by a lake, NOPE. We just wanted a quiet weekend of camping, hard to find in So Cal, but we sorely missed the mark on this one. If you think the water park might save you, forget it, also crowded and small. The absolute, hands down, worst waste of a camping reservation ever. We ended up leaving the first day and ate over $100. Just dont do it.

Comment: The five stars are for the guys that run the boat rental . They are amazing and the manager goes above and beyond to make sure you have a great experience,,,,,, Now as far as the park I would give the one star . The communication is impossible . For almost 2 weeks I expecting a call just to make an appointment to get my boat inspected, but I not even getting the call when it will be, Then it will take weeks to to get it down and only if I pass more week before it allowed in the water . I under stand they need to protect the lake but they still have phone and mouths they can make a phone call . It is if they really dont want you on the lake I would have giving up by now and still might but the boat rental guys have been so nice it keeps my coming back I want to SAY PLEASE PLEASE find a away to make this process easier and where we are treated like we matter and we are wanted there . I cant get any info I call so many times I am afraid they will get made of me ad put me to the bottom . WE should all be able to enjoy this lake . MY son and I love to get out on the water but i not sure it worth the stress ....I love the lake I hop they will allow us to enjoy it after all natural things are for all us to enjoy not people not letting you enjoy it because they are under staffed or just dont care

Comment: This place is interesting to say the least. Its very overcrowded and short on restrooms. Camp sites are all dirt and its pretty noisy. However, after I stopped a couple kids from walking through our site and the rangers passed through making everyone quiet down on the first night, the trip turned out to be a lot of fun. Its all what you make it and having the right expectations beforehand makes a big difference.

Comment: My family and I had a great time at the Casitas water park. The lazy river was the best! The prices are not too bad for all day fun. There is something for ages 1 to 90 at the river park.

Comment: Love the lazy river. Play structure is great for younger kids. Lots of lounge chairs in the shade, but get there early to claim the ones near the entrances to the river.

Comment: This lake has the best disc golf course in the county! Also good hiking, fishing, and camping. There is a nice little water park which is nice because there is no body contact allowed with the lake

Comment: Trashy place with little regard to the environment. No swimming in the lake but they built a wasteful water park. Terrible staff with mainly teenagers and people that really dont care and dont value their customers because they are owned and funded by the government. Sad to see all the trash and waste that comes in and out of here.

Comment: We had a wonderful time. The cafe has some of the best customer service Ive ever had. The little convience store has EVERYTHING we needed! Its was absolutely beautiful the entire trip. We were also lucky enough to be there while the soft grand opening was there for the water park. We had an amazing time. The rangers were personable and kind. They were extremely helpful and friendly. I would recommend staying at this campground to all of my family and friends. We will be back!

Comment: Great campground well maintained. Good fishing when the lake has water. With the drought the level is very low now. We always have fun

Comment: Clean, not noisy and you actually get a camping feeling. Still, you have showers and running water toilets. You simply sleep in a tent on the floor. Good for families with kids.

Comment: We enjoy walking at Lake Casitas. The surroundings are lovely, as are the views. There is a popular water park open during the summer months, a model air strip and a disc golf course as well as camping, fishing and boating. It can get very crowded in the Spring and Summer months, especially on weekends and holidays. Right now, the lake is extremely low because of the drought.

Comment: I came here to catch fish and chew bubblegum. And I didnt catch any fish. So, I pretty much just sat around chewing bubblegum. Nobody came by to check if I had a fishing license though. For that I reward them 3 stars. Will definitely come back without a fishing license.

Comment: Perfect for a little escape from the city for the younger ones (water park). Next time Im bring my own food and drink and leaving it in the car. Definitely worth the drive if you stay more than a few hours. Will do this again very soon.

Comment: This is a nice camp ground with a very fun water park in the summer. The water park has a lazy river, water playground, splash pad, and a toddler pool area. Plenty of seating at the water park but could use some more shaded seating.

Comment: We camped in the Creekside campground. Nice little loop next to the creek which was essentially a dry creek bed with rocks. Lake level was very low due to drought. Have reservations to camp in Mallard, so will update review with impressions of that campground.

Comment: Who doesnt like camping! Very large camping area. Has a little water park for the kids. Fishing is ok on my visit but I spoke with some hosts and they assure me of nice bass trout and mudsuckers. Craw dads used to be abundant but unsure of stock anymore as water line is about 60 down.

Comment: -0 stars Loud, noisy, no management,The water park is a sad jokeWent there for 3 nights and the noise level was really bad. Way too loud. On the first night one of the campsites even had lights going with a full blown DJ. we saw the Ranger come by they turned it down as soon as he left they turned it back up till 1 am. On one night someone was playing their music loud and it had very foul language in it that my kids had to listen to as they went to sleep. This went on for all three nights of our visit. At first glance the water park is really nice although it only has three things to do a lazy river, splash and play zone for tiny kids and the jungle gym water area. But due to faulty operations only half of my party was able to go because they sell out within 30 minutes of opening. This information would have been nice to have prior to showing up. sice we spoke with the resevations lade on the phone and said we have a large party. We rented a shade area..... DONT DO IT .... when we got there there were people in it and chairs were put in front of ours so we could not event see the water. Oh and you can bring your ez ups if you want to so why Pay $75 for theirs. NO FOOD... i mean no food in the water park so if you want a coke to drink that you payed $3 from there vending machines ... sorry you will have to drink it out side then you can come in. they say no outside floties but i saw them all dayThe only good points I can list about this place is everyone was really nice and understanding although even after speaking with the management nothing changed or was done.I hope within a few years they will get their act together but as of right now its BAD!!This campground if properly managed would be a a family camp dream with lots to do fishing and water park but as it stands right now we had an awful experience with loud noise and and a water park that we couldnt go to in the hot Sun and a lake that you cant go swimming in because its a reservoirShame on you Lake casitas management for selling false fun.
