My family recently adopted a kitten from here, we all had a wonderful experience. The staff is incredibly friendly, helpful, and most important of all, knowledgeable! This was all of our first time adopting, but the staff made everything we needed to know clear simple and easy to make sure our new kitten would be best taken care of. Its a clean facility, in a nice small town, with tons of animals of all ages that are well taken care of. Definitely a 5 star experience, I would recommend this place to everyone who is hoping to add a new animal addition to their family!
The hope clinic is a wonderful program for spaying or neutering your pets. You have to prepay which is fine since they charge a huge fraction of the cost our vet quoted us. 475 at our vet and 110 at hope clinic which included the rabies shot and 24 hour shot of pain meds. I very much recommend this place. So friendly. Its attached to humane society so easy to find. They do everything there you could need. You wont be disappointed!
Staff was friendly, but the place was very smelly when I walked in. I had to fill out name, address, etc on the computer just to enter. A very sweet girl took me around to see the animals. I found an adorable dog that I fell in love with. I was not allowed to have the dog out in a room to see how we connected until an application was approved. I fell in love with this little guy but had to wait just to be near him. My husband went in 2 days later and the dog was gone. I was so sad. Its like going through Fort Knox just to come in contact with one. These beautiful animals need loving homes. Why make it so difficult?
Very friendly and helpful staff. We got a WONDERFUL, trained German Shepherd juvenile male that had all shots, chipped, and neutered for far less than a vet would charge for these services. They seem to really care about the orphans and gave us great service. And Veterans get a discount everyday!
I am allergic to cats so I take my daughter to the Humane Society every few months or so to look at the kitty cats and pet them and play with them. This time when we went I was pleasantly surprised of the two glass-enclosed rooms in the kitty area that there are many cats and kittens to play with already. I was able to stand out in the hall and watch my daughter but not be around the cats.
So many adorable animals!! Wish I could take all of them home!! I feel so bad for them though. Pinned up in small kennels, having to urinate and potty on the floor. Always has a strong odor of urine and feces in the building. They should have a better ventilation system for the animals health as well as the employees. Workers are always pleasant and eager to help.
They are really nice and I used to volunteer there. We tried to adopt 2 puppies and they said that one of the pups went to a different home but the other pup was ours, we just had to wait for her to be spayed. We were gonna go the next day to find a new friend the pup but they called and said we cannot have our pup because she was going to live outside. It was going to be on 7 acres and would have a heated kennel. Most dogs get adopted and sit in a cage all day long or get returned because they arent cute anymore but we would not have done that. So basically, they gave us a dog and then took it away.
We adopted out dog from LHS in March of this year. We had visited frequently to see all the animals, and the staff was always helpful and friendly. When we finally met our dog, we had a lot of questions about the adoption process and every single question was met with a quick answer. I would never think about buying a puppy from anywhere else!
Nancy, who answer my call over a kitty being injured. Nancy was RUDE! Nancy was VERY unprofessional. I was trying to save a cat, but she didnt care. I dont know how she could be working in the humane society. She was heartless, and did not care about the kitty. Thank God Ann arbor society was able to accept the cat. Nancy, you are a heartless human being.
The people are nice enough, but we were told that we could have a couple of different puppies and given what I believe was false information and then they were given to someone else. We live on a farm and have many well taken care of animals. Im not sure how they decide who actually gets to adopt, but obviously there is a flaw somewhere in the process. There seems to be a bias against people who prefer to have an outside dog. Lets face it, they are animals, not people. An outside pet can live a very comfortable and loving, healthy life. We ended up buying a wonderful puppy from an individual and he now has a very loving home.
Its ok. Would never get another dog there. The one dog they sold me was Ill when I received him. 7 years later and thousands of dollars in vet bills Max finally passed away on December 21st 2018. Max went through an awful lot. Is first 5 years of life was spent in a home that had been abandoned with 49 other dogs. I loved him so much and Dr. Herr took care of him so well. Max is missed greatly.
10 days ago I put in my application to get a dog. I was told that if I put in my application I could come in to look at a dog I was intrested in that day. I drove 45 minutes went in and stood and waited to talk to someone.. Only to find out that they couldnt review my application and that I couldnt see the dog I wanted.(which I had cash to buy that day) the woman I talked to also told me that I just needed to be patient I was very nice. Im not a rude person but seriously I am a customer trying to give a dog a good home. My animals are treated with love amd care. Im not the person who said I could come look at an animal that day they did then Im told I need to be patient?!?! That really put the icing on the cake. She told me that she would look over my application and call me. 10 days later I havent heard a thing. I applied at 3 other humane societys and every single one has contacted me within 24 hours and said I was approved. I found a small foster rescue place that I contacted about a dog and within 4 hours I had an appointment time to look at our new puppy! I understand things happen.. But when youre RUDE and tell me the customer I need to be patient even when I wasnt even causing a problem. I wasnt yelling or screaming.. I actually was nice in the situation I was in. I just showed up because I was told that I could come look. Then I get treated like Im a nuisance for wanting to buy a dog. Dont tell me I need to wait (I didnt even know I had to wait for application process I have never done this thays why I called) I waited 4 years for the right time to get a dog. I waited until my kids were old enough that I could have the time for a dog. So dont tell me I need to be patient! Im not giving a bad rating to the inside it was very clean. Im giving bad review for the service!
I am thankful for all of the LHS staff that help to mend broken hearts every day. I am compelled to respond to Almost There regarding the comment, Lets face it, they are animals, not people. An outside pet can live a very comfortable and loving, healthy life. I agree in part and kindly ask you to consider that domesticated animals, such as dogs and cats, are both extremely social and pack animals, just like people. Dogs prefer packs (families) for the same reason as people also, companionship and the unconditional security included in strong happy families. What Im trying to say is dogs want to be with the family and every night, left outside while its pack goes inside, they are significantly stressed and confused. Dogs want to protect the family not the poop in the yard. lol . Some breeds of dogs are terrified of loud noises like thunder. Basically, a domesticated animal assumes it is part of your pack and isolation hurts them just like it hurts people, mentally. What hurts you, hurts them too.
Person handling adoptions never calls when she says she will, always has a tone of voice that says, you arent getting a dog here ever when saying we have other applicants we do whats best for the animalsIf you arent going to consider our application for whatever reasons, dont approve it, and tell us why. If we are qualified, then actually consider us.
The staff is wonderful,a very caring and understanding group of people. All very dedicated to giving all of the animals a safe, warm and bright future. Please donate if you are able even if its bleach, empty pill bottles, blankets, spare change, cat or dog food or just your time or money.Dont shop, please adopt. They need all the help they can 💜🐾🐈💛🐾🐶💜🐾🐯💛🐾🐕💜🐾🙏
Id rather pick a dog up off the street went there and looked at a dog and they took me into a room with it with my girlfriend for about a half hour and then informed us that the dog was already sold why did they put us in the room with the dog pretty ignorant if you ask me

2022-02-03They neutered my pomeranian (with love) & also pulled his extra baby teeth that hadn’t fallen out on their own for THE MOST AFFORDABLE PRICES! our vet wanted over $600 for the procedure & we paid under $150 with them. jasper left in good spirits & acted like nothing happened! so happy with them & love that they offer such affordable pricing! 🥰

2021-05-20I wouldn’t even give it one star! My dog was turned in by a woman who claimed she saw me open my trunk and let him out. It was even stated he was turned in to the wrong city which was over an hour away. First red flag why would your drive an hour away to turn in a dog. A photo was sent to the city in which we live so they could find the owner. Brownstown animal control had been very helpful in trying to resolve the issue only to be met with such rudeness from the individuals who work there. I drove over an hour to come get him, tried to call but got forbid anyone answer the phone. Once I got there The woman who I spoke with would not even listen to what I had to say wouldn’t look at my documentation to prove I was the owner and even stated she had text messages saying I was going to dump the dog. She said she would show me and didn’t. Just read some phony line from her phone. She said they legally own my dog and if I want him back I could apply to adopt him, she wants to talk about legalities they owner has 7 days to legally come claim the dog before it can be adopted out. I want to know where my dog is and why it’s not being turned over! You are not animal control your the manager. Now I may loose my dog so you can make a quick buck off of him. Shame on you, how dare you!!!!

2022-05-06I went today and enjoyed knowing 4 more semi stray cats will be fixed and ready to be able to do as they please. I love being able to take these animals to get spayed/neutered there.

2021-01-29Got our lovely Oakley here. They were great! We dated her for almost a month and then fostered for about the same. They truly care about the animals they shelter and about the homes they will be going to.

2020-02-05I recently had my cat spayed here at the Hope Clinic while she was entering the early stages of pyometra, so she needed some extra care. They were extremely accommodating and took fabulous care of my baby. They sent me home with an antibiotic and very thoroughly explained everything. About a week into the antibiotic, my cat was getting very sick. I gave them a call and left a message, they called back within two hours to help me figure out what the best route was. They went above and beyond. Thank you guys so much for what you do!
