Couldnt ask for a better police force. Ive had to deal with them on a few occasions and they are always professional and courteous. Most people know not to commit crimes in Livonia because the police are on top of things. Thank you Livonia police for all that you do. Treat them with respect and they will do the same.
I am proud of our heroes and hope Livonia can retain the highly qualified and professional individuals that make up our terrific police department. They are doing a terrific job as Livonia crime rates are low in comparison to adjoining communities. Keep up the good work!!!
When an older lady goes and asks a question and for help regarding a theft issue, she can not rely on the Livonia Police. I got negative looks, stoic , uncaring and unhelpful. All I wanted them to do, is make one phone call that may have fixed my situation and they did nothing. They said to go to civil court. Seriously, if the police cant help the most minor thing, how are they going to cope with the big stuff??
I choose to live in Livonia because of the quality of their police department. They always respond quickly to a dog barking or a possible home invasion. They impress me with their ability to solve a crime immediately, or have the persistence to solve it without giving up. They are always professional, and they make my city safer. Thank you for what you do!
I went to bail my son out of jail for a misdemeanor. I was treated with a very small amount of respect, look - I am not a criminal - Im just a mom. The officers, three of them manning the desk, treated me like I had done this often, I have not. I had no idea what to do to get him out and how to find his car to bail it out of impound. They had no clue where the car was or how I could get it. It was suggested I ask the cashier....what? Officers must realize that while they deal with this every day, most of us do not. They need compassion when relating to the public. I should have been able to get my questions answered and take care of the bail and the car without going to multiple windows and buildings to do so. The people at the cashiers office were more compassionate than our police officers who are supposed to SERVE and protect. My experience with the LPD was negative with regard to how I was treated and how they served me.
I have never encountered a more corrupt, unfair, and unreasonable police department as this one. They have absolutely nothing on their agenda except taking money from anyone who happens to drive in the city of Livonia. If your car is stolen at night and you are stranded without a way to the police station, they do not care and will not arrive on scene to look for evidence or to pick you up to take you to the station. If you are involved in a minor fender bender and get a scratch on your bumper, they will tell you to not file a police report because there is less than $1000 damage. What they dont tell you is...the other driver can file a police report and you will be issued a citation in the mail without a police officer WITNESSING OR EVER ARRIVING ON THE SCENE! When you go to court to dispute your ticket, the officer who wrote the citation will not be there to talk to. Instead, you talk to another office who knows even LESS information about what happened than the officer who took the police report.Their police department is a joke. They are too busy sitting on the side of a road with a radar detector to catch any real crime. They would rather give you a citation for going 46 in a 45 than to do any active police work.
Overall, I have been satisfied with the Livonia police department. I have lived in a nice suburb of Livonia for about four years. I appreciate the Livonia Police Departments strong presence in the neighborhood at Halloween, while the children are trick-or-treating, or when I see that they are responding quickly and efficiently to calls in the area.I am greatly dismayed to report, that on Sunday, March 6, 2016, I was shown a side of the Livonia Police Department that forced me to reconsider my position. I work directly for the owner of a large private chain of businesses, with nearly one hundred prominent locations. I was doing some remodeling work after business hours, at our location in the Wonderland Shopping Center in Livonia. I left the business at around 1am, with two of my associates in my vehicle. This is NOT a business that serves alcohol, or provides any kind of night life. A Livonia police officer, in a late model marked Ford Explorer decided to follow us, despite having no provocation whatsoever. My vehicle is a very nice $60k 2016 vehicle, currently registered, and in no way dangerous, loud, or suspicious. The officer proceeded to follow me closely through five or six long, circuitous turns through the empty parking lot, in a highly conspicuous manner. When we turned on to Middlebelt Road, the officer speed up to dangerous speeds, in order to continue the pursuit, after falling behind at a traffic light. When I turned onto my residential street, about half a mile down Middlebelt Road, the officer turned as well, and continued to follow me closely, until I actually opened my garage door, and pulled in. The officer then sped away, before I could identify the vehicle specifically.Given the current tenor of public opinion, it is dangerous and embarrassing, for officers in a safe residential community to behave in this manner. I am veritably basking in my white male privilege, knowing that I narrowly avoided a long, fruitless investigation by a suspicious officer with a false sense of entitlement, simply because I am a well-to-do white male. Had I been driving an older vehicle, or had I been a black teenager, there is no doubt that my night would have played out much differently. Why would a Livonia police officer make such a deliberate and determined effort to incite fear, without provocation? If there was a legitimate reason for the officers investigation, why was I not stopped? This kind of fear tactic has made the police of the United States public enemy number one. It begs the question, what is the real function of our police department? Why do many Livonia police vehicles only display a logo on the passenger side? Are they trying to have a visible presence? Are they demonstrating a desire to serve and protect the community, by being a visible and trusted forced in the community, or would they rather hide in the driveway of the Ford Plant, subsidizing the citys operating costs, by issuing petty speeding tickets all day? Why do they want to hide from the public? Why are they secretive and frightening? Are the Livonia Police unaware that they are doing exactly the things that cause attempted evasions and other dangerous altercations? Why do the police want to incite fear? Is this what it truly means, for these men and women to Protect and Serve? I am disappointed, and offended.
The other day I saw a Livonia police car sitting in someones driveway on Merriman; didnt realize the police can do that. Then I saw a Livonia squad car cross lines into Farmington; I guess because the Livonia donutshop was closed and Farmington mustve been a better fit for donuts.
Disappointed in the way the treat us, the ones they strive to serve and protect. My African American friend, who is also from livonia was driving me home and when pulled over for 1headlight - was almost harrassed by the 3 cops who pulled him out of his car to have him perform the sobriety tests. He was sober and passing all the test which mad them like angry, and the 3 livonia police officers sat there and made my friend do completely ridiculous and borderline degrading things for almost an hour. It was so terrible that my mother had to walk down the street to come in his car and sit with me. They finally let him go after she came. It was honestly disgusting to see that. That was probably a few months ago. Now I sit here, with a bunch of White underage kids drinking and driving and making so much damn noise that my mom had to call to make a complaint and it has been over an hour sincewe have watched atleast3 cars full of underaged drunk kids driving off! Still have yet to see or hear a single person try to stop them, let alone a cop car drive to check things out. Like that is something they should be spending more time and resources on instead of racially profiling people who live in our city.
These guys helped me recover a stolen iPhone while I was visiting Detroit. So helpful and caring. For something that may seem small to some people, this meant A LOT to me. Thank you for all the work you do, from keeping us safe to the little things like finding a stolen iPhone.
I have never seen such lack of self respect and respect for humankind. Officers James Green, Jay Ostrowski, Mike Murphy, previously fired from State Police because of narcotics and losing his license for so many traffic tickets and Steve Olesky. All who have been accused by neighbors for stalking and sexually abusing women. To cover-up the sexual abuse, and child abuse by Kelly and James Green, Det. Jessica Sabbadin created a false police report. The residents of Livonia deserve a police department who do not govern by corruption and fear and intimidation. Im surprised they put up with it.
My friend was hit by a truck in a parking lot (by an individual that habitually double parked in handicapped spaces no less). i witnessed it from a 2nd floor window, perfect birds eye view, as did my coworker. the officer working the case did not believe my friends witness statement. as a result i called as did my othercoworker to corroborate his statement, and were met with a voicemail box. we never had our calls returned. my friend had a concussion and whiplash and had to miss work as a result of being hit by a pickup truck. we did everything we thought could - but the lpd did not reach out or follow up. it was disheartening.
These officers do some real fine work with special needs citizens. Its truly a wonder to behold! You boys just keep crackin them heads like youre doing. After all, its not your fault daddy never hugged ya right?Makem pay!Oozing character this department. The pride you all must feel!
Officer Joe Scott brandished a weapon at an Ann Arbor undercover investigator during a traffic stop. The department wants to keep this one hush-hush since the investigator did not press charges on the officer involved. I warn the public, stay away from Joe Scott. He is known for his volatile temper and is currently being investigated for conduct violations.

2022-02-04I feel like if I called the police for a dangerous issue, I would be taken care of. That’s not the problem. I have never been more harassed by police for no good reason until I moved here 6 years ago. Every interaction I have had with this police dept has been unnecessary. Like getting pulled over in a meijer parking lot for a tail light out. Then 30 mins later being surrounded by two police cars while parked in the same lot because I was waiting for my boyfriend to change my tail light and they said we looked suspicious. Random knocks on my door because my neighbor calls them to complain that my car is parked in front of my house too long. They aren’t especially mean, just a bit demeaning in tone. I’m a clean, nice, intelligent, law-abiding citizen. I’m a homeowner here and I pay my taxes. Stop harassing me! If we have so much free-time on our hands, why don’t we start doing something about the rats in this city! Two years went by and no one forced the group home adjacent from us to remove the rat den behind their shed. One of my other neighbors had to jump the fence and take matters into their own hands and remove all the wood they nested under. I hope to have a positive experience with this police department soon to change my opinion.

2022-05-10Caitlin Witt was amazing, she was helpful and seemed to know what to say during my time of need. I would recommend her to anyone who’s going thru a traumatic event. I wish I could give her more stars than 5. Livonia Police Department thumbs up .

2022-06-12What a joke I just get into an accident at Middlebelt and 96 and call the police department right away for them to send somebody out and write an accident report. I am told by Dispatch that because both people are alright that we should come to them within the next 10 days and Report the accident individually. What happened to Serve and Protect? We dont have time to send somebody out to your accident to take a report but meanwhile we can have three officers on Middlebelt clocking people speed.

2022-03-25On my way to work I saw a officer on his hands and knees in the middle of plymouth road and Ann Arbor rd changing a mans flat tire…. It’s rush hour and nobody was slowing down or changing lanes in respect to the officer’s safety. I wish I could’ve helped. Thank you LPD. God bless you and be safe!

2022-05-19Harassment is defined as aggressive pressure or intimidation.I personally feel that police should never make innocent people feel this way.We were pulled over because one of our license plate bulbs were dull. After the officer ran our IDs and insurance and everything checked out, 2 more officers arrived and questioned myself and my wife separately. We were asked why we were in Livonia.Numerous times we were asked if they could search the vehicle. The officers reason was that there has been numerous break ins in the area.We were left standing outside in the cold for over 45 minutes, answering the same questions over and over again while our vehicle was searched. We have never been in any kind of trouble with the law, however we both were made to feel guilty...for just being in Livonia. We both were patted down with our hands held behind our back. My wife was asked the same questions over and over about her prescribed medicine that was in its original bottle in her pocket.I was asked numerous times if I had any weapons or drugs. We were scared because we felt harassed. We always felt that police were suppose to protect the innocent, not make them scared and nervous when they did nothing wrong. We both have the utmost respect for law enforcement, however now we are a bit jaded. This should not have happened to us! I was also accused of being someone else who was wanted by the law or on the police radar . We were driving home from seeing our family member at the hospital. After stopping at the gas station we were pulled over just a few miles down the road. Not only were we harassed, but felt violated of our freedom to the rights to drive & live in America. 🇺🇸 We recently emailed the mayor of Livonia, Commissioner of Michigan, & Jeffrey Fieger. Hopefully someone 🙏 & something 🙏 will be done about this situation. Maybe there wont be a next time for someone else like this over a license plate bulb 💡 being dim. I like to add to this review. That even after the police 🚔 complete their search of our vehicle. They didnt find anything wrong after accusing us of being drug dealers, weapon smugglers, thieves, & a wanted person. What they did find was #2 Bibles, notebook 📓, receipt book, cds 💿, box fan, kitty 😺 food, duffel bag 🎒 full of our clothes, sunglasses 👓, tools 🔧, money 💰 🤑 💸 n my wallet, reward cards, coupons, prescription medications 💊, business cards, coins 🪙, colognes, master locks 🔒, cell phones & glove box 📦 with paperwork for our vehicle. They left our vehicle a mess, broken 💔 😢 cds 💿, clothing from duffel bag 🎒 thrown everywhere 😢 😑, box fan outer cover cracked 😢 😑, tire gage checker broken 😢 💔 n pieces, went through my wallet 😢, our cell phones were gone through, glove box 📦 was a mess, & middle console was went through n all over our seats 💺 😢 💔 . Since this review we have been followed numerous times by the Livonia P.D. .

2022-06-10Officer D. Voight is everything a police officer should be: kind, compassionate, protective, sees through bs, helpful, professional, and justice seeking. Thank you. I will definitely remember a lot of the officers in this department as hard working, good human beings who take the time to listen, understand, and protect citizens.

2022-06-04Seems like the police around here do whatever they want including speed through school zones and turning without using there blinker whenever they want yet we would get pulled over for that doesn’t make much sense to me

2021-03-01This police department has done an amazing job at making me feel safe in the time I’ve lived here, on multiple occasions. They do a great job at patrolling, responding, helping, and providing safety to residents. Livonia gets a bad rep sometimes, but to me the fact that I feel so safe because of them speaks volumes and shows me they are doing their job to protect the community and prevent/fight crime. Yesterday they were so kind to my son and me. I will never forget this one officer saying, “we’re here whenever you need us.” It was so sweet. They really helped me with some scary situations in life. One of the other officers, a very handsome and professional gentleman, even took the time to give me some much needed life advice on some matters. You never know what kind of an effect you can have on a person’s life. You never know what people go through. It’s a blessing to feel so protected. Thank you so much Officer Allen. These guys go above and beyond to protect this city. Thank you, it really means a lot.

2021-09-02First off im a towtruck driver and the officers at the desk are always friendly and provide good service. Second ive called them twice to watch my back on the side of the highway, not only did they show up but they were quick and stayed until i was safely in my truck. Really took the stress off of me for 10 mins and let me focus on my job. I greatly appreciate the quick response to watch my back. Thank you.
