Love this store. Moved up from Shelby Township and was happy to see this store 10 minutes from home. It is clean, staff is helpful and prices are reasonable. Took training classes here great program too!
Ive gotten my 2 lizards from here. Everyone is friendly and helpful. Just one downfall I got a hamster from there that wasnt vet checked because her teeth were way overgrown which she wouldnt have passed vet check. They were so long that they punctured her soft head tissue, ended up spending $92.00 to have my baby euthanized. Couldnt file a complaint because I had her for two weeks and she was alive when the vet put her out of her suffering.On the plus both my lizards (2 different breeds) are doing okay. I just wont get another hamster, my heart was broken too much.Update: lost both my lizards before 6 months mark. Dont get your pets here they die from not being vetted properly!!!
Wonderful assortment of products, great sale finds and excellent customer service. The employees are always very helpful and friendly (and love petting our dog). I prefer to stop here vs bigger box stores and they usually have what Im looking for at a similar or cheaper price.

Knowledgeable employees. I bought my first snake from them last year, and two since (all still alive, including a corn snake thats now nearly four feet long), along with multiple rats and mice, both frozen and thawed. Reptiles are cared for better than any other pet store Ive seen, and the employees really care about them.Snake pictured was purchased as a baby corn snake last year.

High prices for an outlet. Selection just wasnt there either. The anole case was wide open.....we shut it. The employees didnt really seem to care.
MUCH better! We almost didnt visit today because the two times we went in the past we were disappointed in the inventory and very displeased with the service. The store was fairly new then though, and it has vastly improved. We found more good stuff there than we did at PetSmart, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Not quite as professional as some places, but that actually helps a bit with the friendly feeling. We left happy today!

Very clean store, and the staff were knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. They took the time to ask questions, and make suggestions based on knowledge - whether first hand, or learned...with every customer that walked through the door. Pretty impressive - the staff at other locations could take some notes. Ill drive 15min further to come here from now on. Definitely worth it.
I should have read the reviews before spending money here. seems like the animals arent taken care of. I purchased a bag of dog food thinking it was a steal and found out that its been expired for 2 months. what a waste of money. wont be returning.
First time here and I love this store! Its clean and well organized, the aisles are wide and the personnel are very nice. Thank you to Joshua for taking the extra time to help me read labels on several different foods and for the good advice; you are the reason Ill be back!
First time visiting, staff is very friendly and helpful. I usually feed the geese and squirrels at the park, customer service rep was very helpful in giving me the correct choices of wild feed

Animals are very well socialized, absolutely love going in and seeing hamsters running around in their little balls getting exercise, staff is very friendly and great, all around amazing store.
I really like the people working here and they have really good prices. The only reason I didnt give them 5 stars is because they dont know where their supplier gets their animals from. Im pretty positive at least the Green Iguanas are wild caught. They seem like they have never had any human interaction before and are really wild. They sold me one without asking me any questions at all, I would like to see them caring about the animals more.
Will NEVER shop here again. Cant support a business that doesnt take care of their animals. The employees constantly try to convert you to the dog food brand they make the most money on. Also, the discount section has product that is outdated, which is fine, but some of it is 3 years old... thats too expired to be selling for profit in my opinion. Ownership and upper management are laughable. Plus the staff changes every month. Makes you wonder how good they treat their employees.

Two employees stopped what they were doing to help me find a perfect tank replacement for one of mine that was leaking at home. One sat with me and made sure to help find one that had no scratches etc. Very kind and helpful. Wish I would have caught their names

Nice selection of pet toys and food. Competitive prices. Very friendly and helpful staff. They had a small selection of small pets. And I was told if your pet does not like the food, to bring it back for store credit.
This pet store has a nice selection of pet items. They have a few animals and reptiles, but no fish. Competitive prices, some cheaper than other places. Staff is friendly, store is clean and organized. Will be back!
I cant say enough amazing things about this place. Its a must for pet owners especially those on a budget. You can get high-quality brand name foods treats and other pet needs for next to nothing. The vet visits on Sundays for shots, microchips, and more, they offer obedience classes. If you have a pet or know someone who does tell them to check this place out. You wont regret it.
Do not buy light bulbs there for your lizards this is like the 10th time Ive got bulbs for my bearded dragon there and the light has died two days into use. Now I come home from work and the blub isnt attached to the the socket anymore its just hanging from his light on top of his cage but still on. Glad my beardy didnt roast or my house catch on fire. Highly do not recommend.
Great pet store if youre looking for an alternative to petsmart. Did find a few items here that were more expensive at other places so that was excellent. Wide diversity of items for all kinds of animals so thats nice as well. In the back end they do have a small selection of exotic animals ranging from birds to lizards to tarantulas. Great addition to Saginaw and would go back again.
The staff here is super friendly but I did go in and see the animals without water ounce, it hasnt happened since though. The prices are really good as well.

I called ahead of time to make sure they had an item in stock as I have to drive almost an hour to get to their store. On the phone the worker didnt listen to me. I told him I needed a scatterless rabbit litter box and he returned to the phone to tell me about cat litter boxes. He took 10 minutes to come back and tell me they had 3 in stock. I drove an hour to the store only to find they had 3 regular rabbit litter boxes in store, and none of the scatterless ones. The worker never apologized and put me off twice to help other customers who arrived after me. I left upset that I had wasted so much time and gas to go to Magoos for nothing. I left extremely disappointed in their failed attempt of customer service and inability to provide accurate information. I play a large role in the local pet community and I look forward to informing fellow enthusiasts about the waste of time I experienced at magoos.
Buyers beware!!We were horrified by this place! Being animal lovers, we stopped in to find supplies for our variety of animals we have at home. When looking at their lizards there was a DEAD bearded dragon who was DRIED OUT DEAD IN ITS EMPTY WATER DISH. Its poor little body was completely flat and dried out :( Their leopard gecko they had was in an inappropriate cage set up, their water lizards had dirty water and cage that clearly hasent been cleaned in awhile. Guinea pigs cages where dirty as well. Not to mention their food and water dishes had old nasty food/water(or no water) that was old and not fresh.. I was heartbroken to.see animals in this care. My husband let the employee know there was a dead dragon in the cage.. so hopefully they will address this unsanitary and inhumane treatment of animals they are exhibiting in their store. We will NEVER shop here again.

A few weeks ago I came into the Saginaw store looking for bird cages. My kids were looking at the budgies. I joined them, and found a budgie that had very bad scissor beak. I inquired with the bird department and they had no clue what I was talking about. I work with a very well known rescue. I told them that I wanted the bird to try to shape the beak and make sure it could eat properly. They still charged me for this bird knowing it was in very poor condition. Their words were, “we still have to make a profit.” Well a couple weeks later this poor bird isn’t doing well at all. I’m having to syringe feed it, it is severely emaciated and seems to have head deformities as well. One of the eyes is squinty. It’s disgusting that you are profiting off of sick birds.

Today was my first experience with Magoos! I was initially there for worms for my turtles but found myself wandering around taking in all the great products they carry! As I browsed the cat litter isle looking at prices, a friendly staff member shared thoughts about an alternative to what i usually buy..something I actually think I will try when I need litter next. Met Marshall and chatted about worms, pets, his dog training program, and just pets in general. What a great place to experience! If you havent been in, what are you waiting for? I know I will be back!

Super neat place! Its not a giant store but have a really good selection of stuff for small animals, reptiles, birds etc and of course dogs and cats too. The low cost clinics they host are a huge asset to the community as well!
I bought 1 large rat 3 weeks ago, he is very friendly and a very happy boy. So I came back to get hiM some friends... I bought 2 large male rats YESTERDAY and one of them passed away this morning. He was very sick couldn’t even walk barely and breathing very fast. I went to check on him this morning and he was passed away in the same spot he has been all night.. turns out he wasn’t a male. He was a female. And where his balls should have been was very red and irritated.. I am very sad cuz I fell in love with him right away and it hasn’t been 24 hours since I got him.
Its a great store, different selections for your pet. Although its a little pricey and they sell no fish I shop here often for my cat and dog.
Great place to get cheap pet treats. Always go to get a cheap bone for my dog. Super saver items are the real savings, they are items that are expired or close to expiring that are marked insanely cheap.

The place has an wide assortment of pet products, the place is very clean and the staff is very friendly. The pets for sale in the back have proper habitats and the place also has hamster products I’ve never seen before that’s interesting. Overall, would recommend!
Bought a bag of cat food and told it wasn’t returnable because it was past the 14 day return policy. They wouldn’t even exchange it for something else. Customer service needs help. Off to Pet Smart, Pet Supply I go. You just lost a customer!
Went here for the first time, I agree with the other reviews everyone is very friendly and the store is very clean. I had a great experience talking with a young man who educated me and showed me some of the animals that is offered there. I will be visiting again soon!

My first impression wasnt that great. I had called prior to driving there to see if they carried the dog food I was looking for. Sportmixx dog food produces a variety of different colored food bags, with fat and protein content varying by the color of bag. The person that had answered the phone stated they had 3 bags of the blue which was on sale. I was in line at TSC about to buy the same bag, however put it back after the man on the phone stated they had the same food for 40% off. After arriving to Magoos and having staff help in the search of these blue bags of Sportmixx, it was determined they didnt have the blue bags. I had to buy 2 of a different color, and only 1 bag rang up as on sale although both bags were labeled and placed in the sale isle. I understand mistakes happen, however this experience is why Im not rating it higher. Dog food aside, the staff were very helpful, and apologetic. The store is on the smaller side, and seem to carry slightly different stock/brands than Petsmart and Pet Supplies Plus.
Great prices, they even have liquid fertilizers for planted aquarium tanks. Not a great supply of tropical fish supplies, two aisles. No live aquarium fish or plants, but they do have a lot of oddball items, including some Fluval Aquarium kits.

Love this place. I like the convenience of it - right off the expressway. I run in and get pork chomps for the gurls. And, whether its true or not, I have myself convinced that its cheaper than the other pet store.

I’m not rating one star because of the workers or the prices. I’m rating one star because of the owner. I am a pre-vet student so naturally I wanted to work for the management position at the Saginaw store...but the way Chad treats his employees is deplorable.I was coming in to the store on one of my days off and I picked a nut up it the parking lot and threw it at my friend in front of the store (it landed 15 feet from where I picked it up). I had never met Chad before, but he approached me with the nut in his hand and shoved it in my face and proceeded to scream at me for being so disrespectful as to deface the front of his store....In front of customers. The next time I went in to work I had a termination notice full of phony events that were the ‘reason’ for me to be fired. Let me stress to you that I always stayed busy at work, always showed up 10 minutes early and only missed one day due to an extenuating circumstance.Furthermore, my grandfather owned his own floor cleaning business and clean floors for this same individual at his grocery store in Pinconning. He was told to have a wax job done by 7:00pm, which is a stretch in itself because there is no way to determine how long a wax job will take because the curing process is different in different temperatures and humidities. My grandfather was a half hour late on the 7 pm deadline because of conditions that cannot be helped due to the location that the store is at on the globe as a whole. Chad got into my grandfathers face and said things that I will not repeat and my grandfather (whose business had five star ratings) told him to hit the road if he is going to be disrespectful.The reason for this post is to stress to Magoo’s and Penny’s shoppers alike that supporting these businesses is supporting cruel treatment to all workers involved in making your shopping experiences so great. I am just using these situations as examples because I have personally witnessed Chad mistreating multiple employees.So please. Think before you shop.
They are very small compared to the other Magoos Ive been to. They dont have a very big selection of stuff either. Not great but not bad either. I would stop in again if I was near it but not go out of my way to go stop there.

2019-10-30This place is the absolute best pet store around also they have the friendliest staff ever!!!!! I had a young girl wait on me by the name of Drew and she was an absolute sweetheart. So friendly to me. She took me right to what I was looking for, opened up the cage of the animal that I was interested in and I was able to hold my favorite bunny!!!....Ive never experienced such wonderful and friendly customer service from an employee in my life!!! They had all the items I was looking for and all were at such a reasonable price!!. I would definitely recommend this pet store to everyone!!!!!

2022-02-08I love Magoos as a place, but they had a training class blocking 3/4 of the store. First off thats a fire hazard.And in the class there was so many aggressive dogs I dont feel the instructor was prepared.She grabbed at least 2 dogs while I was there to correct them and thats not her place.(Been training dogs since I was 8 with many titles)But love Magoos as a store...

2022-02-14I was so excited to hear they were having Topher’s Paw Co. in their stores. Visited Topher’s on Sunday and I cannot be more pleased to have them near my home now. The guys are great, fast, friendly, and seriously care about my dog.

2022-02-28I usually love this store, today though..went in to get feeder mice and crickets, the girl with the green hair was more interested in trying to entertain my husband then actually do her job, luckily another employee noticed as well and came to finish her job for her. Very inappropriate behavior for an employee.

2020-06-29Great place with friendly staff! I was hunting for a Syrian hamster and this was my last stop, it should of been my first! I found the cutest little Syrian Panda who I have named Po(Kung fu panda). The staff were very helpful and kind and Po has been amazing so far! Within the first day of him coming home he was already settled in very well and was allowing some interaction. About 4 days in now and he is so sweet and so very fluffy!

2021-11-22When showing my son the animals, we noticed two dead gerbils and one had its head eaten off. I let the ladies know up front and rather than checking on the animals, it was more important to take care of the floor stock. They literally said they had to put stuff away first and that their animal person wasnt in yet. Making room for customers was way more important than those poor animals. This made me sick to my stomach. Will not shop there again.
