Several years ago, I started commuting from Northern Michigan (flying to client locations around the U.S.) and MBS International Airport has become my airport of choice. The staff (ticket agents, gate agents, TSA, vendors and others) set the standard for friendly, courteous and professional people. I wish I could clone them and they could work at all of the airports where I fly. This is a clean and efficiently-operated airport. I cant say enough good things about it.
This is a great airport, I will definitely be flying here again! Much easier and calmer than Detroit and still βfeelsβ like a big airport, with most of the amenities. Everything is very new and clean, security is short, and the staff are very friendly and helpful.
Worst first-time experience. My flight to Detroit was delayed multiple times (*:10am to 2:55pm) and I missed my connection. The thing with small airports is that people are much better off just heading to larger metropolitan airports. I got onto a later flight but am upset to arrive so late to my final destination.*The thing was: I could have made my connection after the first two delays had I just driven to DTW. I asked staff the likelihood of them delaying again and what the issue was---they said they had no information. I had nothing to work off of in making a decision to wait or leave right then and there*I didnβt have time to spare. Waste of money and time trying to fly out of MBS.
This used to be one of my favorite airports. The people inside are friendly and get you through very quickly. I cannot say the same about the flights. Typically board the plane late, sit on the runway for a long time doing absolutely nothing that I can see, then finally take off and miss your next flight or have to sprint to make it. This is minimum the 5 or 6 time theyβve done this. Itβs ridiculous
I mean, it is VERY CONVENIENT and VERY CLEAN but it is so tiny there is nothing to do but since it is so close I suppose why did I need something to do at the airport? If you can find a connecting flight that isnt too much more than its sure better than the drive/hassle of going to Metro Airport
New terminal is awesome. Its amazing to hit the ticket counter, clear security, and be sitting at the gate, all in about 10 minutes. First class setup. The one thing I would add is in the winter, since most connecting flights into MBS come from OHare, there are at times delays & cancellations. Otherwise, great experience.
Absolutely enjoy flying out from MBS; very comfortable parking, proximity, friendliness, timing. My flights have been on time almost 100% of the time. Coming back to Saginaw though, I recommend to take an early flight; my return flights are delayed more often than not, I usually I end up stranded in DTW.
I have been flying in and out of MBS for about 4 years for work on United Airlines. I used to enjoy it, the staff used to be super friendly and would always help you out no matter what. They would have the luggage to the claim belt before I even got out of the gates. About 3 months ago a new company came in and started working the United product and it has been absolutely terrible. Not one person is trained and knows what theyre doing. Also adding that I havent had a flight on time with United in about 2 months. BRING BACK THE OLD CREW. The regulars really miss them. Therefore I have made the move to start flying Delta....
Small airport, rarely any lines or waits. Its hit and miss with this airport staff. The staff at both the United and Delta terminals are friendly but lacking up to date knowledge about current flight programs and travel ID. Its an international airport and they had no clue what a NEXUS card was. And dont bother asking the gate affects about TSA precheck they have no clue.

2022-04-12This is mine and my familys favorite airport to fly out of. Its not too far from home. Its small but has everything you could need. Always super organized and easy to find where we need to go. Parking is great and not super expensive compared to other airports. The staff is always friendly, weve never had a bad experience and weve used this airport a TON of times over the past decade. I highly recommend.

2022-06-16In my opinion, we had a better experience here than at Bishop in Flint. The workers were so very nice and courteous to us. This was my first time flying out of this airport and I was impressed. Also, thank you Ms. Jane and to the deputy officer for your kind words and support for our family as we were traveling under sad circumstances. I will never forget your kindness. π«Άπ½π«

2022-06-10Nicely renovated airport. Clean, modern, spacious. It is very small so there are limited services - especially food, and with limited hours of availability. Only one car rental is open after 5pm, so make sure you have reservations.

2022-04-15Not much luck with Uber or Lyft, the airport is middle of farmlands. The employees at the airport are friendly and attentive to customers. I got a rental car with the walk-up rate of around 38/day so thats good.

2022-03-31MBS is a very nice, small airport. However, first class flyers should be aware that they get limited benefits on a small plane. More importantly, if you are parking at the airport for 2-3 weeks or longer and might need a battery car jumper you are on your own. This is especially problematic if you have a late flight arrival to MBS. They no longer have a portable automobile car battery charger. In addition, ride services to and from the airport from Midland are very limited.

2022-06-21Very nice facilities and staff is friendly. Super convenient since there is never a wait to get through security. The free wifi is almost useless (3Mbps down and 0.3 Mbps up) and T-Mobile has a virtual dead spot indoors.

2022-02-17Security is fast and the airport is clean, so why the bad rating? The TSA here is by far the most picky and arbitrary of any airport I have been to. I travel a lot because my job requires me to, and I have rarely had trouble with my toiletries bag, but wouldnt you know it between the few days of passing through San Franciscos airport security and MBSs security, my shaving puck (a hard puck of soap in a small tin can) had become too much like gel, so they had to throw it away. It is no exhageration when I say I have been through 10 different airport securities with that puck, and while over time it absorbs some water (as do all hard soaps), it was definitively unaltered from its state 3 days prior. Not the end of the world, though I think it is clear that the security here could probably relax on soaps that have been used a few times. A perfectly fine airport otherwise, just be careful what you take in your carry-on as they will not hesitate to throw away your belongings.

2022-03-07Scheduled to leave on a 0530 flight and got delayed due to the tower not opening until 0600??? Overnight is managed by another tower and they cant read our visibility. How about scheduling a person into work prior to your first departure? Way to screw up everyones day to save a buck. Many connections were missed/rescheduled. Other than this incident have flown from here many times and always had a great experience.

2022-06-20This small airport was actually nice to go through then the bigger airports. Security was a breeze. One request I would have would be to offer more at the bar. More in the way of food and drinks.

2022-06-17Friendly staff. Wasnt very busy or confusing as some airports. I liked the digital signs telling you what door was a specific airline. That helps a lot.
