Menards in other cities:
Honestly, this is the best Menards in the country. The staff here are outstanding—so knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. The store is always fully stocked and full of good deals. The Store Manager, Ben, has been immensely accommodating for my dad and I, as we have began selling kettle corn out front on the weekends. Ben also just runs a really fantastic store as a whole...his team is a well oiled machine!
After shopping at a different home improvement store, Im just not impressed by this store anymore. No employees asked me if I needed help looking for anything the entire time I was there, and I did need help! This place is okay for buying stuff at an inexpensive rate, but if you dont know where to look for stuff, youre on your own.
Today, we visited the Menards store #3178 in Bay City, MI to purchase two shower doors. I went down the aisle and asked the associate, Jasmine, if she could help find the doors. She was holding her stomach as if she were sick and barely responded to us at all even after several attempts to engage her. She merely followed us around until my wife had to tell her we didnt need her to stand there and not help. We then went and found two associates pushing a cart of PVC pipe; one was an older man named Steven. I asked him if he could help and he literally yelled at me twice, saying GET OVER THERE! meaning to get out of his way with the cart. I ignored it and stepped aside until he finally asked what I wanted. I asked if the doors had everything we needed and he responded with, It says COMPLETE! Thats what COMPLETE means! and continued to be rude and condescending. He also said, You need to go get a rail cart while he stood there. In the meantime, my wife went to find plumbers putty and she stopped an associate named Nick who promptly looked at her, said This isnt my department and turned and walked away from her. The ironic part is he was standing right in front of the very bay in which the plumbers putty was located; I later saw him nonchalantly walking through the store pushing a shopping cart with two items in it not doing anything. We drove to this store from Midland, MI since we dont have a Menards and it is the LAST time we will ever go back. I reported these associates actions to the manager on duty, Gage, who seemed interested, but didnt state whether hed do anything about them. So, at that point, I told him Id leave it in his hands and left. The horrendous customer service at that store was shocking but apparently to be expected after talking with numerous family members whove been there and all vowed never to return. Wholesale changes need to be made within this store if that is the example that upper management is allowing to exist as a culture. Just horrible service.
I find myself at Menards several times a week seems like. They have a great selection and good regular prices, but the sale prices are really good especially if you catch it with an 11% rebate too. For the most part the workers are very knowledgeable. The only part I dont like is the 8 foot Lumber is inside and the rest is outside. I would rather have it all indoors like Home Depot.
When compared with the other building supply box stores Menards is my favorite. My pole barn package came from here and so do most of my home project supplies. Their selection far outdoes competitors and their pricing is normally lower. Not perfect but better than the rest. I do use the app prior to going so I have a list of needed items and it shows where the items are located in the store. Help can sometimes be a challenge to find when in a hurry but always available.
We bought some plumbing supplies and went to checkout where we were greeted by Linda. Apparently, she cared more about talking to her friend than helping customers. We stood in front of her with her back turned to us for about 10 minutes while she conversed with her friends. When we confronted her about it, she said she could talk if she wanted to. The manager, who watched the whole thing, came up and asked us what was wrong...we started to tell her and she said that she didnt even know what was going on. We caught the store manager in the parking lot. He was not happy and we will NOT be back.
Menards has been my goto hardware store....their prices cant be beat, the selection is outstanding (sometimes I find things that I didnt know I needed. If you have questions, they have answers. Ordering online and having it ready in store is really convenient. Absolutely the best hardware store in Bay City.
Selection is great but customer service is very weak. On the phone 2 separate time for 30 minutes just to place/change an order. I canceled the first one for over $6700 because it was so frustrating and ended up going to Home Depot. The second one took 28 minutes to change 1 quantity and then set up delivery vice pick up. Then when I got the confirmation email the quantities were wrong. Im still on hold trying to fix it. It has been 16:30 so far!!
I really like Menards but today I had a return and went to the customer service desk. The girl ( Abby) working was laughing and talking to another employee. I said hello but she never responded. She waited on me without looking or speaking to me at all. I said thank you but she just ignored me and kept laughing with the other employee. If I did that at my job it wouldnt go over well at all. And Im pretty sure Menards wouldnt approve either. I think she needs more training to work with the public.
Kind of like harbor freight. They sell some good stuff and a lot of stuff that is junk. My personal experience with menards brand tools is that they are junk. I havent had luck with any of their products. My father bought the masterforce drill set and hes had it for several years and really likes it. So maybe Im just really unlucky
For all the profits they make and being a building supply store you would think they would stick some money back into there store ( bathrooms ) gut them nothing works and if you think I should plunge my own toilet because of your greed forget it , I won’t shop there anymore! Period !!!
Let me start of by saying i have elderly parents that went there today and the gentlemen that was on the floor in flooring was the most rudest and wouldnt help them load there flooring for them but gave them a cart to load there selfs then they had to push the cart full of ther new flooring to the front cashier was rude and not one employee offered to help my parents out. To there truck now this is really sad and i hope when there parents get older someone helps them!
Absolutely horrible. My husband and I ordered a washer from Menards because their website stated that it was in stock at their Bay City location. This was a lie. We had to wait a month for it to come in. We then discovered that it would cost $90 to have it delivered. We should have gone with a local company that would have delivered it for free and would take our old washer. The only reason we went with Menards was because the other companies websites clearly stated that it would take up to a month to arrive. Its sad that a company has to lie to get business.
I called and spoke to Matt in building supplies. (Bay City Mi). He quoted me for sand bags and said they currently had 107 in stock. I tried to order for store pickup and couldn’t find them. I called the store again. Matt put me on hold for 43 min. But my hold was just the phone on the counter. I heard him wait on a door customer then heard his whole conversation with a coworker about his girl friend and winds changing. I hung up. Drove to the store to purchase my items. He did not wait on me but was then told they didn’t even have a sand bag in the store. A waste of a few precious hours as my basement flooded . His professionalism was none and wouldn’t recommend this store.
Their mask policy is ridiculous, and if they were a bit logical and did their research on respiratory/breathing issues... they would KNOW masks don’t prevent you from getting sick when you are touching everything in the store! All it’s doing is having people breathe in their own bacteria! Cashier was extremely rude and disrespectful!!! 10/10 don’t recommend :)
From the moment I got in the door I was harrassed by multiply sales associates because they didnt like the way I had the mask on. Got to the checkout and the cashier refused to check me out until the manager came over. The manager looked at me with my mask on and then her to cash me out. Afterwards the cashier continued to harrass me and say stuff as I walked out the door. Last 335 dollars I spend there. Many other places that offer alot better service. Home Depot, lowes, building centers.
Maybe it was the time of night that we went. We got there at 9pm. I know. Not ideal. But we needed to put up a wall and build a new room in our house, in a rush.We were running on fumes but so was everyone else. Id never been before so we wandered a lot. No one asked us if we needed help. I was out of my element, first time there so yeah. I needed lots of help.We found someone to help eventually, but this couldve gone a lot faster and smoother if we didnt need to actively search for assistance.Otherwise the store was clean and organized. The prices were good too.
Loved the place when it first opened in bay city. Went there a couple weeks ago to get some 4x8x1/2 treated plywood took 45 minutes for the guy to find it outside. Ordered some tools online and they sent me the wrong stuff. Went to exchange it at the store and was told I had to buy a mask and put it on to enter the store. Not dining it I will never shop at that store or on line for Menards again
Worst experience ever with the management there. Not helpful, don’t care about tour problems you have with anything there. They love the word no and I can’t do that you, they lost my business for good over $29.99. I spent over 15k a year there. Thank god for Home Depot around the corner never been treated bad there before. Now they get all my business.
I was able to locate my items and within minutes I was able to make a purchase.I would hope other stores along Wilder Road would also create policy that restricts children and minors from entry. An uptick in shoppers of all ages increases the chance for exposure. That much foot traffic really isnt necessary.
Great employees make it a great store used to be for here. I asked my daughter to do a return for me without a receipt. Abby was unable to complete the task without Lindie the manager. The two of them decided my daughter stole the item and proceeded to give her the ninth degree. After they did not like her answers they decided to keep the item and give her a receipt and tell her to go look up her own original receipt. I easily did what the store employees were unable to do, but who has ever heard of having the item confiscated! By keeping the item they are acknowledging they knew it come from their store. I then went back and shared with both Abby and Lindie how unhappy I was with their customer service or lack thereof. Of course they were quick to blame the computer which is a lie and I pointed out to them and then they told me it was a high theft item. I have emailed corporate with all of this information and just like Lindie and Abby they think its a joke to treat people this way 🤷.
Great Store. I love it. Menards has a n Array of things to Choose & Buy from. Different Brands. An Array of Home & Business & Church Needs & Mom & Pop Shops & Personal Things & For Families. Etcetera. The Things Thst You Are Looking For & Need . You May See At Menards. Buy Local. Shop Local. Love Your Local Stores.
Less than enthusiastic employees. They are probably oxygen starved from being forced into wearing a mask outdoors even. I stay in the car, not even allowed to look at outdoor garden center merchandise unless you wear a mask. While picking up our order I did notice some brave employees on the loading area going rogue and not adhering to the ridiculous mask policy.
Can never get assistance here, employees are scarce to even find and when you do find one they really don’t wanna help you, sorry to interrupt their conversations. This is not a one time experience but every time! Home Depot is 3 maybe 4 miles away and that’s where my self and everyone else should go. Even if you paid more at another store, it’s really worth skipping this menards it really any menards for that matter as they are all really a joke. Even the credit card machine wouldn’t work, They said they were not able to enter it in manually....so I had to go get cash. What a absolute fiasco this place operates at.
Everyone was very friendly and even though they couldnt help us he went and got someone to help us. We bought a vanity and sink. Cashiers said no rebates, was very nice made Chet chat. Made us feel welcome keep up good job.P.s. we where even greeted when we came in front door by the girl at front desk. Happy new year😀👍
Awesome place to shop friendly employee s. If you dont see someone an you need help please have patience because they are busy stocking as well. If they cant help you with the product you are looking for they will find someone who can. They are polite and just amazing folks.
Awful customer experience. The gate attends are no help and so rude. No one working in lumber is wearing masks. Asked to speak to someone due to having questions and they were so rude about helping us. Manager said he wont do anything about the customer service due to not having evidence that he was rude.
Placed my order on line & drove to Bay City from Saginaw to pick up our order. It took us over an hour to get 30 bags of mulch. We loaded 28 bags, requested a forklift driver to bring a skid down from the top shelf. It took us 45 minutes for a forklift driver to show up. My husband even spoke with him & his comment was I will help you when I can. For all of the shopping we have done at any Menards location, this has been the worst experience ever.
An amazing selection a building and Home Improvement items. Most items are very reasonably priced compared to other similar types of stores. A good range of prices from low-end to the lower high-end. Stores are kept clean and well-maintained. Not from this area, but very impressed with the store.
Great store, go there for all my home improvement needs. Particularly the plumbing and the electrical staff are very knowledgeable and have helped me out in a pinch multiple times. Cant speak for other sections but if theyre half as good as the previously mentioned then youll get honest, good help there too.
Horrible experience tonight. Sent to so many different spots trying to get help and just pay for items When complained to a manager, Logan, his horrible response was “well that’s in the past.” Direct quote! Seriously spent like 45 minutes trying to follow staff direction only to be sent somewhere else then sent somewhere else. Total of 5x before I got help! All for some bricks. Complete and utter disrespect. Total lack of care and service. Such a shame, always had a great experience at other locations Will avoid BAY CITY location in the future!
Low quality products. Even though I walked the entire store and seen over a dozen team members I was greeted by nobody. Extremely bad guest service skills by everyone there that day. This tells me that there is lack of quality in leadership and management beginning at the top with there GM Ben. I will never shop there again!
Spent $50,000 on a pole barn almost everything was wrong or junk when delivered called to confirm the correct lumber would be there for the project they refused to deliver the correct items and pickup there junk when it was time to return the items they didnt even have the right lumber in stock told me 10 days out before I could have the correct items at this point I have already rented the equipment to set poles and trusses so I was forced to purchase items from another store. Went to return the wrong and broke items they charged me a 25 percent stocking fee and only gave me credit for the items I returned. Spoke with the store manager he was very rude and inconsiderate. I recommend you go to another store to purchase your building supplies your just a number to them.
The staff at this location is very helpful and friendly. I’ve been to nearly every Menards on the east side of the state. This is one of the nicer ones with a nice staff. However, items are very hard to find at many Menards. And the quality of their products is not the best.
Well went into menards and i ask for help and workers acting like they dont no anything today....lmao and i look around half the people shopping are wearing there masks but under there noises so i made a couple comments to some workers and they said the tell people but costumers get mad and walk away well well well let me say this do your job and enforce the law i sure dont want to get sick no would i ever do that to someone else. so im thinking i need to get my self out of here i couldnt even finish shopping ..thank you menards for not caring about your customers and not doing your job.
Simply tried to place a small lumber order online and then pick up at store. In these difficult times wanted to not enter the store for health reasons and was treated like I was stupid for asking such a crazy thing. This was wrong and their procedure should change for their benefit and the customers. Shop at home depot.
Today was good yesterday so Eric in the garden center was aseful. Went to check on something for us and never ce nack so we ingor.ed the girl.we would be back or call. We called and some other kid said he sold to someone else. I k.ow I wont. E rating this a e good. You need better people working for you. Oh and Eric didnt ha e aMask on.
After having breathing problems from wearing a mask before, I went in, walked around the store, put things in my cart, walked around some more... all without a mask on. Then, a worker told me I could not be in the store without a mask on... while I was standing next to a guy with his mask on his ears but pulled down off his face. The cloth masks we as regular people can get, and are only allowed to have have been proven to act more like putting a chain link fence on your face to stop a flea from getting into your nose or mouth. I have breathing issues, and panic attacks from claustrophobia, and those are both covered by the ADA ( American Disabilities Act), but there was no concern from any worker. They never gave a remedy other than to just leave the store. I can see this mask thing becoming the new device of discrimination in our country.
Joe back in the carpet department is horrible! Very rude and totally does not know the meaning of customers service! I usually dont say anything or complain however this is the 3rd time we have been treated this way! Went to tell someone at customers service and was told maybe he didnt understand the question we asked..... So upsetting especially when we have spent well over $20k remodeling our house we just bought! Looks like Lowes will be getting my business even though its 20 mins further!
It always seems to take us longer than planned , we go for one thing and end up with more . The employees are friendly and helpful , along with a fairly quick check out . Love shopping at Menards but you do have to watch some of the things you buy can be cheaply made .
I went there for multiple things but most departments didnt have any workers it seemed they where all in construction area having chit chat. Also mandatory mask is bs while the countrys opening up Menards still has this policy. Its a joke felt bad for there workers being outside in 90° HEAT not near anyone still forced to wear a mask. I wont be visiting this store again.
Wow, am I ever impressed! What a great staff. Jose in tile helped me select tile, grout, and supplies for my bath project. Very complicated sale with lots of input from him to help this novice try to figure it all out. I think we probably spent and hour and a half comparing tiles and grouts. Thanks Jose!Had so much tile that I got tons of help from Jacob hauling it to the front register and loading it in my car. Could not have been friendlier. Holli at the register was full of smiles and laughter as she plowed through my huge pile of various tile and supplies. Even though she managed to fleece me for more than $700.00, Holli made it seem like fun. Lastly, thanks to the young red haired girl at customer service. Wish I got her name but she pulled it all together for me by finding Jacob to help me out. Again with the smiles. We dont usually see this kind of extraordinary customer service at the big-box stores. I dont know if its the leadership at Menards or the basic nature of Bay City people, but thanks for the experience. Now if I could just get one of your smiling faces to drive here and help me with the project!
This was my wives experience today at this store while I was at work. Very disappointing.I located, loaded, and hauled 15 bags of mulch through the store myself, with two kids in an additional cart. About 8 employees noticed me and never offered a hand. I made it all the way to the van before another customer offered me some help loading, and insisted on taking both carts for me. Thank you, good sir, for being more helpful than the entire Menards staff this morning. :)My mistake this was at the Mt. Pleasant store.
Prices are generally decent, but stock is spotty and customer service ranges from willing but marginally helpful at best, to overtly unhelpful and/or wrong at worst. Tried to place a phone preorder after a dozen unsuccessful calls to electrical, and was told by a manager that since credit cards are getting a chip in October, were getting away from phone orders. Maybe I would have been patient enough to do the preorder over the web site, as suggested, if 1. I hadnt had such a poor experience to that point and 2. Their in store stock always matched their online stock. A previous (successful) phone order for lumber illuminated that disparity. If youre planning a project, expect the opposite of help, avoid entering the store with questions, or deadlines based on stock availability, and youll be less irritated than I am at this moment.
I shop (shopped) at Menards quite often. But last night, July 5, 2018 your service associate, Ebony, lost you a sale. She was unprofessional and rude. Therefore, today I am taking HER advice and shopping elsewhere. Not only did Lowes meet the price, but they also showed the respect your costumers deserve. If doing your job is inconvenient, maybe customer service isnt the line of work you should be in. Its always a shame when one bad apple spoils the peck.
This place should get no stars. This place does age discrimination!!! I have No babysitter No mommy n daddy so I cant bring my 12 years old who had a mask by the way in. So maybe i should be outside your store with bunch of people and protest this cus this is age discrimination! You think everyone has babysitters!!!!!
Went to pick up a pc of plywood. Very confusing. Cannot pick uo anything frim in side. Had to wait at lumber desk to get ticket. Had to wait in line to pay. Had to wait to get into lumber yard. As usuall nobody in lumber area in outer yard. Had to search for my own lumber. Had to load my own. Then wait in line to leave. Not sure I want to do that too many times. Lots of lines to wait in. Lot of wasted time for the customers. Not sure this process was well thought of from customer point of view.
Dont buy anything with a gas motor on it. I bought a power washer that quit after 90 days . it turned out to be an Oh well moment. I got sarcasm from one manager they said he was new. I bought around $120.00 in materials using my 11% refund. then I had to return over half of the stuff, of course they returned my 11%gift card and the rest in cash instead of all cash because I used cash to buy materials in the first place. wouldnt you know another Oh well moment. Dammit, screwed again. Most of the managers are very polite and the same goes for the employees but one day Im gonna learn my lesson. at least they greet me with a smile before menards beats me out of my money Haha
I ordered roofing materials and was told they would be able to put them in my garage instead they didnt even put the stuff that could go in my garage in my garage and dropped it on my driveway. I called them about the problem and they are doing absolutely nothing to fix the problem.
Cashier Brooke acted like she had a bad attitude, and she didnt want to be there. She shouldnt be working as customer service cashier at all... it gives the business a bad reputation... was just shopping about two hours ago. Someone should let her know shes in the wrong job, since she doesnt like talking to people at all or acknowledging them... customers are why she has a job at all there. I will shop at Menards again, but someone should really talk to her about her attitude.
If u have any questions. Ask any of the workers, they are extremely knowledgeable, and will spend as much time with u as needed until u are done......will never go back to home depot again ,where the workers dont know the difference between a Phillips or flathead screwdriver , and some of them arent even sure what lumber is.....no joke home depot hires ppl fo just stock shelves, not have any knowledge
Very disappointed with Menards inability to have a descent number of motorized shopping carts available for its handicapped shoppers, as vast as Menards is they only have 2( two) motorized shopping carts for their stores.. SHAME ON YOU.. I want to thank Meijer s and Sams Club and walmart and Krogers for having an Adequate number of carts on hand for their handicapped shoppers...
During my recent visit to this location of Menards, I was sadly disappointed to the OVERWHELMING sexism in the way I was treated while trying to purchase several door lock sets for my remodeling project. Totally unacceptable and not addressed by the management when I went back the next day to discuss this incident. If I could rate here it would be zero stars.
So disappointed... Menards failed to follow thru on replacing a damaged $400 tub apron within 90 days and refused to give me a refund, only a stair credit, returned at 95.days. After the delays to my building project, and the addl cost do you think I want to spend another dime...HELD HOSTAGE BY A BIG BOX STORE!!
I just spent over an hour in this store looking for a bathroom door we got no help from staff at all the kid that actually helped us looked like he was high and he wasnt that much of help we bought a door but I dont think its the right kind so now we have to take it back and I will take my business some place else
Not happy...... bought a garage package complete???? Had to drive from East Tawas 3 times. 1st trip to pick up shingles, was short 1 1/2 bundles, 2nd trip, short 5 sections of sofit material, 3rd trip short 3 sections of facia. When I mentioned they needed to revise the material list the response was I dont know how they figure that out

2022-05-10I love shopping here! They usually always have what you are looking for, and I found the gate I wanted. The assortment of outside plants was less than I expected. I couldnt find what I wanted. But considering everything, they had plants!!! LOVE MENARDS!!

2022-06-05We were here last weekend purchasing materials for the upcoming week and the cashier was eating sunflower seeds... putting seeds in her mouth then pulling the shells out of her mouth with her fingers. So now her spit covered fingers are touching our materials, receipt etc... Today, ended up with same cashier, todays menu was Trail mix. Called manager, this has happened before, lets see what happens next week

2022-06-03Unable to scan code on mulch because placed to high and far back. Had to climb up on mulch bags next to the ones I wanted to scan. Dont like process of needing to scan with phone to get price. Not customer service oriented.

2021-12-21I didnt work for this exact Menards, but Ill let you know how things went working for another Menards within driving distance. I was employed as a carryout, which meant I had to push carts back into the store and help customers load heavy objects into their vehicle.Fact is, Menards loves nothing else than loading worthless machines into their customers vehicles. Theyll gladly sell you on 12 hours with a steam vac that barely works, because by the end theyll tell you that you didnt rent it long enough.Save your time and money and go with Home Depot or Lowes. Theyll certainly help you more than this garbage store.
