I was driving home to New York from Michigan when the lug nuts on one of my tires came off, making the wheel fall off as well. I called so many tow companies and all of them said that they wouldn’t be able to get to me but Merl’s had somebody out there within a few minutes. The driver was very nice and let me ride with him to the mechanic shop that I needed to get to. The price was very fair too, so I’m happy all around. Thank you for your help!
Wish I could’ve got the guy’s name but he was very good. Driver #47 if that helps lol. Very nice and professional. Made me laugh a couple times and had good conversation. Kinda made my day better even though I was thinking of the headache my car was giving me since it wouldn’t start. Great tow truck driver for sure
Keith showed up and looked Uber the steering column before starting it. Backed it up out of the carport so it could be driven up onto the flatbed. Was encouraged that it started and there was no damage to the actual starter.He was brilliant, polite and empathetic to our situation. Would recommend this company again.

Merles service was struggle-free in setting up an appointment/emergency tow, and the towing it self was fast. The tow operator was friendly and efficient. Though the price was higher than preferred, you absolutely get what you pay for: fast, friendly service.
Saved us! Our boat trailer axle blew out and we needed a hauler that could take our ski boat and trailer both. Came within an hour. The man that came knew his stuff and got the boat and trailer back to the dealer safely. A+ service and didnt try to charge us thousands like another company that we called.
Had to have my daughters car towed 2.5 miles. The fee was 90 something dollars which I think is ridiculous. They quoted me an hour and took and hour and a half to get there. On the bright side, according to my daughter they have attractive tow truck drivers. 🤷♀️

I needed medication in the car and triple A said they would come in 3 hours. The woman at Merls was reassuring and sent help in less than 20 minutes. I thanked him for literally saving my life to get my meds! I also had gotten out of hard manual work,was exhausted & having muscle spasms from fatigue. My roadside assistance had them call me after my car was broken into at a hotel in Grand Rapids on a Sunday morning. The refused to pick up my vehicle because the thieves busted out my back window and the tow company did not have a secure location to drop my vehicle off at. They told me to leave my vehicle at the hotel and they would pick it up Monday morning and I didn’t need to be there. I explained that thrives were already casing the parking lot to get my car. They didn’t care. They ended up refusing the service request.

It was a scheduled tow for some shop work. They were considerably later than the scheduled time but they called and explained. The driver was VERY pleasant and also apologized for the tardiness. I would call them again without hesitation.

Semi tractor derated & shut down as I pulled into customers parking lot for the 1st of 2 deliveries. Company called Merls to have the tractor towed & w/in the hour they showed up & took care of business. Very professional & recommended.
The man who helped me was on time, fast and efficient, and also gave me a recommendation of how to better improve my service for next time. The cost is a little bit more than J&K towing but got the job done in the time that it was needed.

Applied for job with merls through indeed twice now and both times merls passed over my application and went to the next step in the application process without giving the person a chance to interview and find out if all applicants are a good match or not its getting ridiculous to the point that someone applies with merls be it through a job recruiting app or in person merls doesnt want to help possible candidates get a job, no Im not saying anything about theyre roadside services merls does great in that area which I give merls 5 stars in that area
Cancelled the tow. Waited for hours and hours and was told the tow was coming 30-45 min each time I called. One worker was rude but Connie apologized for the inconvenience. Called them because they were the highest rated in town. Ended up being let down.

Absurd pricing. 4 months ago I took a tow from lansing to Kentwood from a different company. Yesterday Merl’s charged me an almost identical amount for a tow ten miles. Total scam, look elsewhere

I called this place to tow my car because I found a flat this morning. I know absolutely nothing about cars but they offered to look for a service tire in my trunk and put it on for me when they found it. Probably saved me a lot of money and they were super friendly and kind!

I landed in a ditch... slippery roads...and was easily pulled out by the tow truck winch. I did not require a tow because my car was able to be driven. Excellent service, and the man who helped me put me at ease. I was very confident with his expertise!
AAA contracted for Merls to bring me gas. First Merls dispatcher left me on 5 minute hold and did not call back or text when we were disconnected. 2nd dispatcher, when I called Merls back, said driver was 1.7 miles away and would arrive soon. It was another hour and Merls operators never updated me. The only person who was courteous and cared at all was the driver. If service will take an hour the poorly trained dispatchers should tell the truth and update the customer instead of misleading the customer and requiring them to call Merls back. A text takes how long to send? If AAA doesnt pay you enough to offer good service, then instead of screwing the customer, dont take the contract! I have reviewed on Google and Yelp and will pass this along to AAA as they are responsible for partnering with Merls.
My Starter went out on my truck at the oil change place. Merls showed up and got me and the truck home safe. Not the first time ive used them to tow a vehicle and it WONT be the last. Professional, timely and above all friendly staff. If you ever need their services I HIGHLY recommend them. Don’t know the drivers name but he is driver #33.

Within an hour of my call, they had dispatched a flatbed to tow my vehicle from the collision shop to my house. I appreciate how the driver was more than willing to take my vehicle elsewhere on a moments notice. Usually you would hear complaining or murmuring after such a request on Monday! My driver was more than willing to help and i appluad that! Thanx for your services here in Grand Rapids!

My boyfriend drove his bobcat into a very swampy area of our property that I advised against driving through and of course it got stuck in 2 feet of thick mud. This dispatch promised us a truck within an hour and within 45 minutes the tow truck was on site. It took a while to get the machine out and almost fell over a few times but it finally gave way. So thankful we could get help so quickly.
In town for the weekend and had some car trouble. Our tow truck was there 20 minutes after calling. Very professional, and fast! Highly recommended
They were very prompt as I called from the highway down the road with a flat tire. Due to circumstances beyond the drivres control he was unable to loosen the lug nuts for a tire change. He searched for a tire dealership as close as possible to help lower the cost of what turned out to be a tow.I will also add that the weather and location was far from perfect. Cold, rainy along a ripping busy 131.5 stars all around.
Merls does not have what I would call a culture of providing a good customer experience. A crashed car can be bad enough of an experience, I know there are rules, but they can be more helpful.
I had two tow’s in one day and you both did a wonderful job and you both were over the top helpful. You both did a wonderful and exceptional job I will refer more Merl’s towing to anyone thank you for all you do.

After my car wouldnt start on a late Saturday afternoon, I had to call for a tow. After calling a few places, only Merls was available. They came within 30 minutes and gave me a ride also. I was impressed with the service & the friendly people they sent. 2 thumbs up! Thank you for helping so quickly on a cold winter day!

I had them tow my car from the site of an accident I was in and they took it to their lot on New Holland Dr. The people who towed my car were very nice and helpful however, the people in the office were not. I am not fully sure of what happened between them an my insurance company but things were not made very clear. My insurance told me that all they need and Merls needed for my insurance to tow my car off of Merls lot was for me to show proof of ownership of the vehicle and sign papers that I was allowing my insurance to tow it away. Two days after I did that, I get a call from my insurance that this is not the case and I have fees I have to go pay. (Fine, but would have been nice to know right away from Merls and nit days later.) My biggest reason for the one star rating is that I called and asked the lady working in the office how I pay my bill. She told me to come in to their main office on Clay Ave. to pay the bill. I clarified that my car was not at that location and I was told that I still pay the bill at the main location. When I show up there I am told that I cannot pay my bill at the main lot, but have to go to where my car is. I drive all the way out to their other lot and the lady there (she was very nice and tried to help) told me that her place of business does not accept payment for Merls and that I have to go to their main office to pay my bill... OH MY WORD! So, I am told to drive all over town to pay my bill, and no where is actually the right spot. Does nobody know what is going on in their office? The lady at the lot on New Holland helps me out (she was great!) and calls Merls again for me to figure things out. Then the lady (If this was really same person who told me three different things, that is just insane.) says Oh, well, would she (meaning me) like to just pay over the phone?... I am so disappointed in the way this was handled. The towing service itself was great, but I will not be able to work with them again if their office is this unprofessional and a mess. Very disappointing.

Poor communication. I talked with several people on several different days. I was told several times that I had the okay to grab my car THAT DAY. I went three times and every time there was either a miscommunication, my car was blocked in, or they were actually closed when they said they were open. It has taken me over a week to get my situation figured out due to the issues and also HAVING COVID. They did reduce the price by 300 but that did not make up for the amount of time I wasted and the stress it caused. I hope for future business they do better with communicating.
Had a dead battery in the semi. I called them from our company cafeteria. They got there fast, and they called me after they got it running and even had the heater going full speed when I got there. Excellent service…

I was stuck in someones driveway in a winter storm and forgot I had onstar after me and my son tried to get the car unstuck. When I spoke to onstar they was very helpful and sent someone to come help me. The guy was very professional, concerned about my safety before he got there, and got there before the time they gave me. It took him about 5 mins to hook me up and get me out, which I was very appreciative.
I locked myself out of my van after loading my groceries (including cold & frozen items). The manager of Target recommended Merl’s Towing to me as he had used them personally in the past. My call was handled professionally and I was treated with the utmost respect. My car was unlocked and I was on my way in less than 30 minutes. Thank You!

My car is an insurance repair and my dealership asked me to call Meryl’s to give them the specifics on picking up my jeep. The person that answered the phone was curt, bordering on rude for most of the brief call. Even though I informed her that my dealership asked me to call. I told her that it was an insurance repair and gave the information of my insurance company and my dealership. I was told that I would have to pay upfront...for an insurance repair? I didnt argue, just gave her mycc information and was told would be either $163.50 or $188.50 if they had to use a special device. I didnt agree, but I paid it and moved on.The tow driver however was very kind and professional. Still , after the conversation with the office personnel I would not recommend Merle’s to anyone. I see absolutely no excuse for any professional person answering a business line to be so curt and unprofessional. If I could give 0 stars, I would.

They suck I got a blue tire on the highway last night pulled off the highway had my own tow service coming one of their tow truck drivers roll by saying that I was there pulled up and then called the state troopers so they can take my vehicle and charge me $340 just to get my shit out
Driver was great and very professional and took well care of my truck. Only reason for the somewhat poor review was due to how long it took them to get to my vehicle. I was told it would be an hour when I scheduled pickup....three hours later my vehicle was dropped off. Other than that no complaints

Can’t seem to remember his name unfortunately, but the man that helped me was amazing! Car sat for 3 months and battery was completely dead. He went over and beyond to help me, his service was greatly appreciated!
Very helpful. It was a busy rainy night, but he still took time to explain how he put the car in neutral and it started and it could possibly be a sensor problem. I did not end up needing the car towed after that. Thank you.

I called to get my car towed and the dispatcher was very pleasant. She gave me a timeframe of when my car would get picked up and offered a 15 minute call ahead to keep me posted. We had called while changing the tire, because we weren’t sure if we were going to get it on. They dispatched for someone to be there within 30 minutes. We were able to get our tire back on and called back to let them know. They were very understanding, and appreciated the call back. Would use this service again if stranded on the highway.
Lack of communication to start. I push my car into a mechanic shop parking lot to get it off busy road. Called aaa for service. Merls accepted the tow. I called @10pm and was told 130am. @130 my tow was canceled because the car was at a mechanic shop parking lot. Called aaa again was told had to wait another 3 to 4 hours. After my 2nd call, Merls finally called me and explained why they couldnt tow if my car was in a parking spot. I explained that its in the driveway. So they agreed to tow it but was told would have to wait 3 to 4 more hours, and than tow came in 20 again with no call letting me know they were on the way. Also car was 10 minutes from merls lot and less than 1 mile to tow destination. A call once Merls accepted the tow should of happened. I understand that it was busy night but you have to communicate better
I called & they said someone would be therewithin the hour! REALLY?! He was & he waspleasant like having frosting on the cake!Oh-& the charge was reasonable just under$100.

Drivers are great would give 5 stars, female dispatch is the cause for 3 stars. She quoted me $80 to tow me 4 miles, this isnt bad however my tow was actually 1.2 miles and I questioned her on this. She entered the incorrect p/u address, and still we were still charged about $76.
Adam the driver was awesome. He arrived early to pick my car up from my place of work. He was helpful in making some suggestions on car rentals and even offered to help carry some things from my car inside while I waited for my ride.
I expected to tow my car for a new starter, and the Merls rep saved me time and money by pointing out the real issue.
Dude Keith was our tow truck driver, he was awesome. The key wouldn’t engage in the ignition so we couldn’t put the car into neutral, Keith not only managed to get it on the flat bed like a boss, but he then got it off the flat bed and parallel parked it using the tow truck it’s self. 10/10 will do again and ask for Keith he is cool af.

Extremely impressed!!! I called Merl’s Towing because ether was a sign in the parking lot where my son’s car battery had died. The woman who answered was very friendly and professional. Quoted someone would be to us by 45 minutes. I do not think we waited 15 minutes for him to come. I was very impressed. The driver was very professional and informative. Respected my son’s car and our property when he arrived at our home. I would definitely call them again if needing a tow in the GR area.

2022-04-25Called and they were able to accommodate my needs on short notice. The tow truck driver was earlier than expected, calm, clean, personable, and very quick and good at his job. The cost was also very reasonable. I will definitely be using Merls again!!

2022-03-26Fuel pump went out in my van so I needed a transport from my home to the repair facility. I called and was told they could be there within the hour and they were. Driver helped me remove the van from my garage, watched to make sure the trees along my driveway didnt scratch my van and also helped to push my van into position at the repair facility. Very satisfied with the service and would not hesitate to call on them again.

2022-04-03I had a disabled vehicle on the side of US 131 that I needed to get towed. I called this service and the dispatcher was friendly and helpful. She gave me an estimated wait time of 30 mins. The driver arrived in just a little over that time. He was very friendly and quickly loaded, delivered and unloaded my vehicle to my desired location. I would use their service again in a heartbeat and would recommend them to friends or family.

2022-06-21Motorhome broke down on the side of the road. They actually answered the phone which is more than most others. Came out in a reasonable time, yes I had to wait, but I needed an oversized tow truck. The operator was professional, knew exactly what had to be done (like unbolting the drive shaft) and worked very efficiently. Very pleased with the service and the price as well. Highly recommend!

2022-03-23Merle’s towing was an excellent place to call for towing our minivan. I got stuck with my kids and when my husband came to pick us up while we were waiting for the tow service to arrive, we had to take them to a bathroom. They waited for us and they were super professional and friendly. We appreciated it so much, we tipped them extra. Customer service and a friendly face when you’re stressed about car troubles is definitely what we need more of in this world. Thanks!
